Our wedding venue at Sonesta was just perfect. We were more than pleased with the service staff and their professionalism. They went above and beyond to make us our guests feel welcomed. We enjoyed having our wedding at the Sonesta Gwinnett Place. Our guest out of town guest enjoyed the rooms. They were a nice size, clean and the staff was great. My wife Dorian and I had our wedding and reception at the Sonesta and it was everything we hoped for and so much more. The food, venue and quality of service was outstanding. Karen, our wedding coordinator was a pleasure to work with she and the entire hotel team were extremely kind, and professional. We highly recommend the Sonesta for any and all Weddings and events.

Beautiful Venue!, Great service, Great Food, Best Value
Hands down Sonesta Gwinnett is a great place for your special day! Karen and her staff are awesome! From start to finish, they were attentive to all the details and supportive of our vision for our wedding.
Let's face it , when it gets down to the last few days or hours before the wedding and things are coming together or ( not coming together) you need someone who has "your back" and can deliver. That person is Karen. She is organized and an experienced event planner. She is always professional and friendly.
We chose to have the ceremony and the reception at Sonesta and it was a great choice! They had several packages to choose from ( fits every budget). I found them to be very flexible.
I mean I could go on and on about my experience , but to sum it all up....If I had to do it all over again .... without reservation I would choose Sonesta again!

Jill Bish, the event coordinator for this Marriott, did an absolutely exquisite job in fulfilling my Indian (Hindu) themed wedding and reception. What "wowed" us during the venue decision making process was the fact she knew how to pronounce certain Hindi words and knew the meaning & background of a semi traditional yet modern wedding for our culture. She was very responsive especially right before the event. She catered to everything we wanted for our big day and made our day very special to us. Trust me the event coordinator definitely needs to have the skills you require for your special event and that involves coordination, timeliness, and knowledge of the event. This place was reasonably priced, and I loved the fact that parking was not an issue for our 450-guest wedding! Jill Bish is incredible- she is organized and helpful, and goes above and beyond. The venue isn't the most beautiful place to get married, but it's clean, convenient, and affordable. We had our ceremony and reception at the Sonesta Gwinnett and we were really pleased with the overall service. It started out a little rocky because our event coordinator changed mid planning, but the new Coordinator was really awesome, helpful and knew her stuff. We felt like we could really rely on her for the fruition of the entire event. They were very flexible with us and our custom menu, the price was right on budget and the package is indeed complete! They throw in tables, chairs, sashes, table cloths, napkins....etc. everything! Even the ceremony props. The wedding was beautiful and Karen with Sonesta helped to make it happen. Thanks Karen and thanks Sonesta for turning our experience around. We would certainly recommend them to other couples. It is with humility and a sense of satisfaction/ gratitude that my wife, Annette and I write this review for Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta Hotel. Our wedding event took place on July 26, 2014 at the Georgia Ballroom, Current news reaching us from within our community is that our event has entered the ``Guinness Book of World Records`` as the best ever event of such magnitude in North America in terms of planning and the subsequent unfolding of the entire evening!!. Family, friends, guests and well wishers were beyond thrilled, elated, satisfied and marveled by the quality of service and the beautiful architecture of the entire hotel.
Kudos to Ms. Jill Bish, Mrs. Karen McGaha and their staff for giving us the assurances of excellence in the quality of service delivery that we absolutely needed to move forward with their venue in all confidence that our event would be handled by knowledgeable event planners. We took them for their word and they delivered like never before!!. When we were shopping venues that could host our conception of a fairy tale reception/ gala evening following the church ceremony, our expectations were low. That turned out to be an unwarranted feeling of anxiety. Sonesta Hotel turned out to be the best possible location, considering it`s guest room capacity, proximity to shopping and eating centers as well as it`s commuting distance to the airport.

The hotel was very beautiful and the staff was friendly and flexible. Thanks to Jill and Karen, our guests had a great time. Jill was very helpful in the planning stages and gave us great insights from her many years of experience with Indian weddings. The guest rooms were great and the staff was very courteous. Overall we had a good experience at Sonesta and would recommend this venue for future events.The hotel was very beautiful and the staff was friendly and flexible. This was a beautiful and convenient location to have our wedding. Our out of town guests received a discount for staying here and the wedding director was very helpful in helping to plan our wedding. We were able to have the ceremony and reception in the same location (but not the same room). They have various options to make your wedding special. For the ballrooms, yes; hotel stay... no
I was able to tour the venue via zoom and the ballrooms were beautiful. The photo gallery showed beautiful wedding pictures The hotel itself is very outdated. First off, we chose Sonesta because of reviews of how helpful Jill is and overall how Sonesta knows how to handle an Indian/Hindu wedding. However, they were nothing but a headache from the get go. For starters, we had a wonderful coordinator, Karen, from the beginning who helped us out. A few months in, we had a couple questions and she never responded back. We CALLED Sonesta only to learn Karen no longer worked there and gave us a new contact information. This coordinator was still learning about Indian weddings, however, she was still helpful. Once again, this person left and Sonesta NEVER called us to tell us until WE CALLED them. This whole tag went on for about 7 months. My now husband wanted to book a hall at Sonesta for a family dinner the night before the wedding, however, the guy who booked it never told the new person about it so their reservation was never booked. Luckily this was resolved....a WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING. About a month before the wedding, we learned Jill was back so my dad and I complained about this to Jill. She apologized and said she would take care of our wedding. Thankfully, our wedding went beautifully thanks to her, however, 2 months after the wedding, we are dealing with more financial stuff with them and now Jill is no longer there.
Sonesta, please get your stuff together. The turnover rate at this hotel is high so you never know who your coordinator will be and what information they will pass on, if they even do. By the way, why are you guys contacting us NOW, 2 months later, about payments when this should have been resolved during the wedding week? Completely unorganized and lack of professionalism. We spoke high regards of this place but we're never coming back to this hotel again. My sister is next in line to get married, and my parents have already said "We're not going to Sonesta."

Easy to work with until the last minute
We had a NYE party at the Sonesta as an afterparty to our wedding. They were extremely easy to work with until 3 days up until the event. Everything we asked for, the response was “I got this.” “Don’t worry about it” “We’ll take care of it”. To the point where we had scheduled a meeting about 6 weeks before the event and we got there and were basically told we had wasted our time in coming in. Our event was so easy that we could plan everything via email.
On Thursday before our Monday event, I still hadn’t received anything finalizing our menu and bar package. I emailed to ask for it and got the finalized menu with no bar package included. I emailed back and was told the bar package we requested needed approval and the Food and Beverage Manager has been out for the holidays. I’m pretty sure they weren’t out since November, so at that point I started to think that approval wasn’t even asked for until 3 days before our event and had been told “we got this” the whole time. We got approval for the bar package and I got the impression that we were being done a huge favor (we requested to have champagne on NYE and were willing to give up 5 wines in our package to have it).
Then 10 minutes before the event, my husband and I go to our room to drop off favors. NOTHING is done or set up in the right place. We are being told the centerpieces we chose were being used for another event. There was salad smooshed into the carpet, doors falling off hinges, and holes in table cloths (pictured). Magically, they did pull it together and get everything started close to on time, but the stress was not worth it and they clearly weren’t prepared. If I hadn’t been down there reciting what was in our contract, it definitely wouldn’t have been taken care of.
Once the event had started and before we entered, we were getting texts from our friends that they weren’t allowing them to do shots. So we call our salesperson and she says “Hotels don’t do shots. You have to go to the bar for that” followed by “you never asked about shots.” We paid for an unlimited bar package on NYE. I didn’t think we had to. She said she would make a call. I’m not sure if that call was ever placed but we found a loophole in the system and just had a lot of tequila neat.
We were told the food was hard and cold. I didn’t have a chance to try any, but that’s disappointing to hear.
All in all, I feel like this was bait and switch. I’m not sure if that call was ever placed but we found a loophole in the system and just had a lot of tequila neat.

All in all, I feel like this was bait and switch. If I had known to expect to be more hands on, I could’ve handled this a little better but for months of being told our event is “easy”, I am realizing now that it meant it was unimportant compared to their larger events.-
