In the early stages of wedding planning, I hoped to find a wedding planner who could take on planning a traditional Vietnamese wedding ceremony and traditional wedding ceremony. On top of that, it was a destination wedding too. I considered Karen after reading raving reviews on WeddingWire. Since the very first time I spoke to her on the phone, I actually felt my stress melt away. I was so scattered in wedding planning because it was overwhelming not knowing where to start. All I had was the venue and I wasn’t sure how to proceed. She immediately had a calming presence as she reassured me, and I knew she was the one! Throughout the months of planning, she was always one text, email, or phone call away with any questions that I had. I wouldn’t have made it through without her wisdom, advice, and pep talks! She is more than just a wedding planner - she’s a friend who always has your back. Karen is organized, meticulous, patient, and always makes sure that everything turns out the way you imagine it. In fact, everything turned out even better than we could have ever imagined it! Any hiccup that we encountered along the way was handled so smoothly. She immediately had solutions and backup plans. Nothing can get in her way! Her vendor recommendations were exactly in line with our visions and she executed the entire day flawlessly. She was there for 15-16 hours on our wedding day from when we were getting ready and she was the last person to leave the reception. While we were dancing and greeting our guests at the reception, Karen was working behind the scenes and personally gathering decor, cake, and our belongings to have them ready for us to take home. We kept on admiring how beautiful the decor was throughout the day and marveling at our vendors’ work. We knew that it wouldn’t have been possible without Karen’s wedding planning and day-of coordination. There is a lot of behind the scenes work months out from the wedding spanning to the actual big day and we appreciate all of her hard work and attention to detail. Karen genuinely cares about your happiness and will work to make your dreams come true. My husband said that throughout the day, he noticed her genuinely enjoying the wedding while working and how he had never seen that before. If you’re looking for a wedding planner, look no further because I promise you that Karen is the one! ❤️ -

Where do I even begin?
From the moment we met Karen, we knew we had found our fairy god planner. She took our vision for our wedding—blending Jewish, Filipino, and Puerto Rican cultures—and brought it to life in a way that was beyond anything we could have dreamed. From the countless hours of emailing, meeting and planning (while being in different time zones), it all came together perfectly and truly was the wedding of our dreams!
Karen made every step of the planning process so seamless and stress-free. She was always there to answer questions, offer guidance, and keep everything on track. More than just a wedding planner, Karen made us feel like family especially with her strong relationships with all the vendors! Her warmth, kindness, and attention to every little detail made the entire journey an unforgettable experience.
Her team, Kiana and Carlos also made us feel so comfortable and taken care of on the day of our wedding! They were so professional yet personal, which added so much to the overall vibe and comfort of the day.

Like most of you, I searched on Wedding Wire to find a wedding planner. I can tell you, without a doubt, that Karen is the ONE!! Karen was professional, organized and gave honest feedback when looking for the wedding venue and hiring vendors for the wedding. She took the time to get to know us and what we wanted before recommending photographers, DJs, florist, etc. Because she has planned so many weddings and have worked with so many different vendors in the business, she has a great relationship with all the vendors which made the wedding day go off without a hitch. I felt that she was with us every step of the way. She kept me calm on our wedding day and made sure the only thing that I needed to focus on was to enjoy my wedding. Working with Karen Martinez as our wedding planner was an absolute dream and the easiest and best decision we made! I am so grateful we worked with Karen and I knew right away from my first call with her that we had to work together. No matter what time of day, Karen was always there to answer our questions, provide guidance, and ease any concerns we had. Karen is truly a master of her craft! We are both from PR but living in Texas, and even from afar we felt an immediate connection and trust in Karen from our first meeting. Karen's responsiveness was truly remarkable. She was always available to address our concerns promptly, no matter the time or day. Karen didn't miss a beat. From the big stuff to the tiny details, she had it all covered. You name it, she was on it.

I worked with Karen for about eight months leading up to my wedding. She is patient, she is kind, and she is an EXPERT at what she does. What makes Karen stand out from other planners I interviewed is that she was not afraid to tell me the truth, and in a kind and logical way. I had ideas and Karen kindly explained why some of those ideas could work, and some could not, and she was the only planner honest enough to help set my expectations-which were BLOWN AWAY still!!
Karen is well connected on the island. She has amazing connections with vendors on the island. Karen was everything we needed and more! She was extremely helpful, flexible and receptive to everything the entire time we were working together. She was the first vendor we hired and that was the best decision we could recommend. Planning a wedding can be so stressful and Karen did her best to make everything feel as easy as possible. The day of could not have gone smoother and we credit that 100% to Karen. We didn't think twice about the details because we knew she was on top of it. She knows and has worked consistently with every top vendor in Puerto Rico, which makes picking and working with your vendors as easy as pie. Additionally, we were based in New York and only had one planning trip to Puerto Rico - even still we felt completely on top of planning thanks to Karen. Amazing Experience
Hiring a wedding planner for our destination wedding was something my now husband and I were a bit naive about. We didn't have a clue how to plan a wedding and didn't truly understand the role of a wedding planner. In came Karen. She put us in contact with the most wonderful vendors. Provided guidance where needed. And MOST importantly, made our wedding day 100% stress free. I'm not kidding. NOTHING went wrong the day of our wedding. Karen was the perfect choice to plan our destination wedding. We had most of our major vendors (venue, florist, photographer, DJ, etc.) booked already when we hired Karen, and she was able to immediately hit the ground running and take over the coordination with them because she had worked with all of them before! She also gave great recommendations for local stationary, transportation, and other vendors we hadn't yet thought about. Karen is incredibly sweet, always responsive, and super easy to work with. Amazing Experience for Destination Wedding!
We held a destination wedding at the La Concha Resort in San Juan December 2023 and it was the most magical day! We knew we wanted a destination wedding in Puerto Rico and in planning stages we had multiple meetings with planners and it just didn’t feel right for the ones we met with. Then we met with Karen, we knew exactly then she was whom we needed to help us with our big day as it just felt right! From the start, she was so helpful with logistics and providing suggestions. She sends a very helpful list of recommended vendors and well thought out choices for them. She matches couples to vendors that capture your vision so effortlessly. The vendors we went with all came from Karen and all were so amazing and she ensured every little detail went off smoothly with every vendor!
We had a ton of questions at times since we were so far away and she was always willing to listen to them and answer in a timely manner. We had regular meetings and check ins and she was always so organized and helping us stay on track for timeline and her planning tool was very helpful for budget and logistics.
When the big day came around, it was so amazing and stress free! We could not have done it without Karen and her amazing team and the vendors she recommended we went with! She was with us every step of the way from planning, to the big day, and evening and everything went off without any major issues! If anything went wrong, we didn’t know anything about it as she just handled as that is what she does and just makes magic happen!
We partied the night away and Karen helped make our dreams come true for our dream wedding!

It's hard to put into words how deeply appreciative I am for Karen, and how lucky I feel to have had her help in planning and executing our special day! Karen demonstrates excellent leadership skills and provides the perfect balance of seeing the big picture while also attending to the smallest of details. From the moment we met virtually, I felt comfortable with her and she felt like an old friend. She listened to our vision and goals, and also offered wonderful suggestions and tips. Before we started working together, I thought I had my wedding under control by myself after I booked the major vendors (venue, DJ, photographer), but quickly realized I was in over my head once it got to smaller details. She was amazing in helping me secure some of the final vendors I had trouble finding (hair & makeup, cake, stationary, reception rentals, photobooth, rehearsal dinner space). Her detail-oriented planning leaves nothing up to chance, and she is extremely considerate of the couple and guest experience. She graciously made time to help our group with a quick ceremony rehearsal (on a day that she was actively working another wedding!) and everyone in our party commented on how amazing and effective she was. On wedding day, she and her assistant provided extra help in the set up process, since some rental vendors didn't provide setup services. And special note, we had planned for an outdoor ceremony, but it stormed quite heavily (even more than typical for PR), and Karen was incredible in pivoting to indoor ceremony and making sure everything still looked beautiful. Despite the storms, my husband and I had an absolute BLAST on our wedding day, it was pretty stress-free and we really were able to enjoy it and live in-the-moment, and I attribute this ability to truly enjoy the day to Karen. The little details (like spending alone time with me before everything started, helping with my dress bustle, giving us little battery operated fans in the heat, etc.) were other special ways she went above and beyond. Again, I am forever grateful for Karen's work, and feel so fortunate to have experienced her magical wedding planning services :-). -

When I decided to do a destination wedding I was worried that my day wouldn't be what I had always imagined because it's hard to plan from a far. I had spoke to her a few times before meeting her what I was looking for and when we finally met she came prepared with venues and vendors for what I had exactly told her I wanted . I am a very detailed and need to be in control kind of person but with Karen I always felt at ease. Karen honestly made my special day more amazing than I could ever imagine. We had previously hired a different planner (who is highly rated on ww) and had a horrible experience that cost us a lot of time in our planning process. Karen quite literally saved our wedding! From first contact, the contrast was night and day.
Karen is responsive, organized, and caring. She really listens and is willing to look for niche vendors/think outside of the box! She has systems in place for organization including an online portal and customized powerpoint so you can get a real sense for how things are moving along and nothing "slips through the cracks." This is especially important as vendors continue to be in heavy demand post-covid and it can be difficult to get a return contact from anyone. You can absolutely put your mind at ease knowing that Karen will be on top of it.
On the day of, Karen was there making sure things went smoothly and providing support in managing nerves. If anything went wrong, I have no idea because she was handling it all! If you are looking for competent, organized, and attentive, look no further! Karen is it! -

My husband and I chose hotel el convento for our wedding and started to do things on our own when we quickly realized planning a Puerto Rico wedding from NYC might be challenging. We were recommended Karen from our contact at hotel el convento and were so happy we chose her. She presented us a PowerPoint of vendors and options quickly after our first meeting. She even had a couple surprise options to delight and entertain our guests which was our main goal. The wedding day was seamless and well organized and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. She is someone who exudes professionalism and is truly passionate about the work that she does. She has been there with us every step of the way, even going above and beyond and even out of the scope of her job description at times to help us to achieve our dream wedding. I had to plan my wedding 3 times due to the pandemic and vendor issues. I don't know what I would have done without Karen to help me with the last two, especially considering it was a destination wedding. I'm still amazed that everything was absolutely perfect. My Lifesaver
My fiancé and I had always wanted a destination wedding and Puerto Rico was our number one choice. From day one, Karen was very responsive, detail oriented, and extremely helpful. Planning a destination wedding has an additional array of stress and challenges but I never felt like my dream wedding was unachievable because she was always by my side. She not only sent me an extensive list of vendors to pick from, but also guided me in the decisions. She took my small vision and turned it into a grand dream come true. G&M Wedding
Karen is such a wonderful person and professional! She has become a friend to us. We started planning our wedding even before the pandemic hit. Then, when all the covid19 situation started, we were worried about if we should cancel or continue with our wedding. Karen never stopped working, though. We told Karen we would like to continue with our plans even if we had to reduce the wedding guest list to 20 people. While everything started to become more flexible, Karen gave us notice of everything happening in Puerto Rico with Covid19 restrictions, and everything went smoothly. Karen also has a large list of venders for you to choose from (excellent vendors!!). Karen also worked with vendors that I recommended. It was so easy to work with her!! But let me tell you about the wedding day... Karen is a ninja!! We had our ceremony at the Palacio Provincial and our party was at Hotel el Convento. They are almost a Old San Juan street away. This woman transformed each venue in such a dreamy way!! She had everything ready: music, decore, officiant, photographer... everything! Honestly, I can’t stop thanking her for planning our wedding the way we always dreamed. My husband and I are so great full for all your hard work, Karen. We’re so proud to had called you our planner and now call you our friend. 💕 Thank you! -

We can't describe enough how amazing Karen was as our wedding planner. I am a picky person and I know what I like. Karen brought it all to life. She really gets to know you and makes the best recommendations. Karen will even suggest things you didn't know you would love until you see it. She is so on point, you can tell she was destined to help make all your dreams come true. We were speechless when we saw how great everything turned out. Our guests were equally as impressed with how beautiful everything was.
Karen will make sure your experience is stress free, perfect (and I mean perfect) and one that you will never forget. I do not know if we did it ourselves if we would have come close to making our dream wedding as amazing as she did. -

Karen was absolutely incredible. If you book her for your planner, just know that your wedding will exceed your expectations. Karen planned a safe and perfectly coordinated wedding during the pandemic. My wife and I do not live on the island which was an added challenge, but Karen coordinated everything with expertise and eased our stress about the planning process. The day of our wedding was a perfect dream. We were able to relax and enjoy the day just like we had hoped for. The vendors that Karen had recommended were out of this world. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and we will cherish the memories forever. Karen was amazing and we had such a fantastic time getting to know her. -

Karen was absolutely amazing. She planned our wedding without us ever stepping foot on the island until the day before our special day. Everything was as magical as we had hoped it would be. Words fall short to explain how thankful I am for the excellent work Karen did for our wedding. Contacting vendors, making her own recommendations when I asked, providing orientation about the whole process, constant communication, reminders, a very punctual schedule, availability by phone, messages, everything to make sure the result of all that planning exceeded all of our expectations. It was a spectacular day with our friends and loved ones, and it wouldn't have been possible without a wedding planner as good as this, she is in a league of her own. I give 5 stars because that's as much as it'll let me but if I could I'd give ten. Thank you for everything! -
