Unmatched Beauty for Priceless Memories
What can you say about Sky Retreat that the view doesn’t say. It was an absolutely beautiful venue and the perfect location for a fall wedding in the mountains. I knew as soon as we visited that no place would compare. The grand ballroom was spacious yet cozy with the string lights along one curtain wall and full glass windows on the other to enjoy the view. Having the wooden chairs and tables provided was so convenient and saved the hassle of rental, as well as the nice arbor choices. All the guests loved the covered veranda with the beautiful mountain view, fireplace, fire pit and heaters, which made a perfect place for a s’mores bar and taking their FB profile pictures, as well as alleviating my worries about an outside wedding in inclement weather. Beth was attentive and so pleasant to work with, and when we had to move the wedding date up a year due to a family member’s cancer diagnosis, Sky Retreat was so nice and accommodating in allowing and helping us change the date. Having the cabins on site is such a convenience and an added bonus to an already perfect spot. Dalton is so personable and willing to help however he can. He and everyone there worked hard to make things look beautiful and run smooth. They kept up with and fixed any issues that needed it and allowed us all to relax and enjoy the day. Friends still talk about how beautiful it was and the most amazing view for a wedding, and friends who see the pictures on FB ask me all the time where the wedding took place. It made for a dream wedding, and the entire Sky Retreat staff only added to an already amazing venue!Sky Retreat's reply:

From the moment we talked to Sky Retreat to the days after our wedding, we were so thrilled and happy that we chose them as our wedding venue. They responded to all my questions within 24 hours, had ample information and knowledge with all of their staff and catered towards all of our wishes. They gave us a discount for having our wedding on a Monday and let us set up the space the day before so that was one less thing I had to worry about the morning of the wedding. They were truly accommodating with all of our wants and wishes, and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful wedding space. All of our guests were so impressed with the venue and the view that the venue offered. -

Getting married in the Blue Ridge mountains was always a dream of my Husband and I that we knew instantly Sky Retreat was where we wanted to tie the knot. Beth and her team were so welcoming and helpful in booking our special day as well as going above and beyond to stay communicated with me through the unfortunate Hurricane Helene that went through last year right around our tour date. Our wedding at Sky Retreat was truly unforgettable. Our wedding party stayed in the big cabin on the pond, and the rest of our guests enjoyed all the other cabins on the property during our four-day celebration. I honestly cannot say enough great things about Sky Retreat — they were amazing every step of the way.
The venue itself is breathtaking, and even though the weather was foggy, it ended up creating the most beautiful, romantic atmosphere for our day. We also purchased the goat and donkey package, and it was a huge hit with our guests — everyone was so impressed and absolutely loved it.
From the warm hospitality to the stunning setting, Sky Retreat gave us the most incredible wedding experience we could have imagined. If you want your wedding to be beautiful, unique, and truly memorable, Sky Retreat is the perfect choice. -

Our wedding at Sky Retreat was everything we hoped for and more. The mountain views are absolutely breathtaking and created the most stunning backdrop for our ceremony and photos. We hardly needed any extra decor because the setting was already so naturally beautiful.
The staff was just as incredible—helpful, professional, and attentive from start to finish. They made sure everything ran smoothly and were always quick to respond throughout the planning process and the wedding weekend. Vito and Beth were amazing—always just a text away.
Having the cabins right on site was such a huge plus. It made things so convenient for us and our guests and helped the entire weekend feel relaxed and connected. We’re already talking about coming back to visit for an anniversary!

This is by far the most stunning and perfectly designed wedding venue. After looking at venues from the NC mountains to the coast, we signed with Sky Retreat as soon as we finished our tour and canceled all of our other tours. Beth and Vitold are such lovely people who were so professional and able to answer all of our questions. Beth is also the most responsive vendor of all time. From coordinating our guests’ parking to ensuring the doors to the venue were open as early as we needed, Sky Retreat was truly the best venue. The scenery is breathtaking and even their rain plan options are stunning. The paver pad was perfect for my ceremony, with cocktail hour on the veranda and our reception inside. Their tables and chairs are amazing quality. I cannot say enough good things about Sky Retreat. Our guests have been raving about this venue saying nothing can ever compare. If you’re on the fence about visiting/booking Sky Retreat, look no further. We 100% recommend this venue!!!!!! As a wedsing vendor myself, I have experienced dozens of high country venues as there are many to choose from. When I was taking my then fiance on a tour of my top 5, inside I knew Sky Retreat would be her choice. I was right, naturally!!!
We rented the venue and cabins for the span of two days... Beth, Dalton, and Vito went out of there way to accomodate our needs and feel welcomed.

As a photographer I've shot at Sky Retreat several times and absolutely love everything about the looks of the venue, but this year I rented the venue and all their cabins for my 40th birthday bash and it was the BEST decision! I utilized their mini donkeys as tequila donkeys and offered goat yoga for my friends the next morning. They also took us on a river float adventure and handled everything we needed the entire time! The view is really amazing and so much better in person. The staff is very responsive and quick to answer your calls and get back with you right away. On the day of the event it rained and Dalton got us a new set of chairs that were dry and we were able to move to the covered area and still have the beautiful view behind us.

We booked Sky Retreat for our wedding after finding it online. We knew and expected that a few hiccups would occur as with any plan with so many moving parts… Insert Hurricane Hellene. So that wasn’t on the list of things we thought could happen…
Beth and Vito were amazing, they flexed and cleared downed limbs and worked plans to get generators up and running to make our wedding happen. Luckily all of our vendors were also able to get back on their feet quickly and wanted/needed the business so they were all able to accommodate as well.
Despite all the thrash associated with the hurricane and power outages leading up to the event we were blessed to have power restored in the days leading up to the big event. Beth was able to fill in as our bartender and did an amazing job keeping the custom signature drinks, beer, and wine flowing. The professional catering kitchen provided plenty of room for us to bring in and store our drinks and some decorations. Speaking of decorations - you won’t need many, as the natural beauty of the venue and its stunning views are more than enough. We used simple center pieces on white tablecloths that made for an elegant look coupled with the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountain view from the floor to ceiling windows that make up the back wall.
We also highly recommend inviting the donkeys - say hello to Ruthie and Zaika, aka our beer burros. This sweet couple were a hit, carrying cold beverages to our guests just after we finished our vows. The pictures with these guys turned out amazing and they made a really fun addition to our perfect day.
We and many of our guests stayed in the cabins which were perfect for a quick retreat after the festivities. Colton setup a perfect campfire where a group of us wound down what was a perfect day.
I can’t recommend Sky Retreat enough. It’s stunning beauty and gracious hosts Beth and Vito made our wedding everything we could have asked for and more. Her list of recommended vendors is spot on, and the town of Boone has some great places to visit and stay as well.

If we had to do it again, we would rebook the Sky Retreat immediately. They were super friendly and easy to work with. You cannot beat the views. It felt like we were on the edge of the world. We were also able to host our rehearsal dinner here which was very helpful. Our close friends loved staying in the cabins on-site, and we did too. The reception banquet hall is beautiful and modern, and it complements the views outside very well. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough, and I have already recommended it to a couple of my newly engaged friends! I highly recommend adding the donkeys and goats to the reception. They were a hit with our guests and offered a unique wedding experience!Sky Retreat's reply:

I absolutely loved having our wedding at Sky Retreat! They are amazing and go above and beyond. It is a GORGEOUS Venue with STUNNING views!
They have the sweetest little petting zoo my kids loved. As well as the most wonderful staff!
Our first dance was sadly not captured by out video camera. BUT Sky Retreat SAVED THE DAY by sending us their ballroom's video that happened to capture our very special choreographed First dance!!!!
They were so friendly, answered all of our questions, and communicated with us any time we reached out to them.
We plan to go back every year for our anniversary and stay at their cabins. Hoping to enjoy all the other things they offer and that are offered in the area!

We were so incredibly lucky to have found Sky Retreat for out wedding venue! From the moment we pulled onto the property, we knew it was the perfect fit! The Sky Retreat is simply amazing. The venue is stunning, from he draw dropping view to the beautiful ballroom. Planning my wedding here was extremely easy thanks to the amazing staff. Any questions I had were answered quickly! I could go on and on about the staff on cite, they made planning and day of festivities go seamless. The cabins on site allowed guest to stay close to the venue, I even rented donkeys to surprise my husband on our first look. was asked throughout my rehearsal dinner and wedding where I found this place. Exceptional Place for a memorable Wedding

Amazing Wedding Venue

Sky Retreat is definitely the perfect venue to host your wedding or post-wedding celebration. The view was breathtaking as it overlooks the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. If you wish to do so, there is plenty of space outdoors to host your entire event outdoors. We hosted our post-wedding celebration in August 2021 and still wanted to be COVID conscious and considerate to our guests, therefore, we opted to host our event solely outdoors until 10pm. If you choose to utilize their gorgeous ballroom, this is a remarkable option as well. The ballroom has high lofted ceilings with beautiful chandeliers and large open windows that overlook the mountains, so though you are inside you still get the view. The team was wonderful as well. It was great working with Merin. She made scheduling easy and answered all of our many questions leading up to our big day. Vito was super helpful the day of, as well, and will setup the tables and chairs however you envision them to be setup. He is available the day of too for any last minute needs or questions and also takes care of the breaking down of the tables and chairs, which is a huge relief when you are busy hosting your guests and enjoying the day. All-in-all, I would recommend booking your next wedding event at Sky Retreat in a heartbeat. -

We had our wedding at Sky Retreat eight weeks ago. I had an extremely hard time deciding between so many beautiful High Country venues. There were three reasons Sky Retreat won out: the views, the Parkway drive up, and the covered porch. The fact that everything else was perfection heightened the whole experience into a choice that the two of us, our family, and our friends could not have been happier with.
The venue is kind of magical. You look down on the charming cabins on one side, and across breathtaking mountain vistas on the other. You get views from anywhere you choose to have your ceremony or dinner. Inside there are almost floor-to-ceiling windows and otherwise a blank canvas room to do with as you wish. Outside you can have your ceremony on the pavers or the grass. We had only twenty guests so we were able to have dinner on the patio, perfect for this never-ending pandemic.
Our caterer (Earthworks) raved about the kitchen set up here before we even booked it, and he even had tons of space outside out of sight to set up his wood grill for the veggies and local trout he served. It was awesome. Our photographer (Enowen) got incredible shots of us at sunset with the views behind us and the mountain breeze ruffling my dress.
The bridal dressing room has a comfy couch and a nice long makeup counter with a full wall mirror. I was the only one getting my hair and makeup done professionally in there, but if you have a large bridal party who are all getting ready at the same time it won’t be big enough. The dressing area is also one room with the toilets separated by a curtain which felt less than ideal, and I had to drag my dress into the handicap stall to get dressed in order to have privacy. The men’s dressing area is also in their bathroom and not separated in any way. This was really the only downside of the venue for me and my pee-shy friends. On the plus side, everything about the venue is truly wheelchair accessible.
Merin answered every question I had so quickly and could not have been nicer and Vitold worked so hard setting everything up and tearing it down to our exact specifications (don’t forget to give him a nice cash tip). -

I am so glad we had my daughter's wedding at Sky Retreat. Not only are the views spectacular but the staff is too. They are very easy to work with and very helpful. The cabins right on the grounds are an extra bonus. I would highly recommend this venue. -

Words can not describe how perfect our wedding at sky retreat was. Every guest was amazed with the view and many said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The staff at sky retreat are so accommodating and I do not have a single bad word to say about them. I wouldn't change a single thing! It was very nice that we could block off all of the cabins on site and have many of our bridal party and guests stay there. There is also a larger cabin on air bnb right on site and that housed much of our family. Very convenient! Park Vista Inn is where many of our guests stayed and it was right down the parkway. If you are considering getting married here, do it! You will not regret it! -

The raw beauty of the Blueridge Mountains coupled with the crystal chandeliers of the Sky Retreat's ballroom is simply unparallel. From the moment we booked the venue until the very end of our wedding we were so well-taken care of! That is what it felt like to be married at Sky Retreat. From the first turn onto Cascade drive and seeing the view, I felt like I was in heaven! The Sky Retreat team was so accommodating, set up the beautiful ballroom just how I requested, set up chairs outside and we danced on the veranda in the evening. It was truly amazing to have all three of those spaces all day long. The views are breathtaking and the cabins are so convenient for guests to stay in, they absolutely loved it. Some wedding specifics that I was grateful for - choosing my own vendors and bringing in our own alcohol, this was such a cost savings! The ballroom is like a blank canvas to decorate however I wanted, and truthfully no decor is even needed. Our pictures during the day were beautiful, and then we went back out at sunset - it was magic! Seriously recommend Sky Retreat for your wedding or just a weekend stay. It is beautiful. -

My daughter was married at Sky Retreat on 10/5. I cannot say enough about this venue. It is absolutely beautiful inside and out. From the gorgeous, huge chandeliers in the spacious ballroom to the large veranda with a wrap around porch, truly the view is second to none. There are cabins on the property that are held so they can be rented for your wedding weekend, as we did. This was so helpful for our out-of-state guests and us for being there early for setting up. The kids loved the stocked pond and large swings. When low clouds sat on the mountain the day of the wedding, Vito jumped in and set the chairs up on the veranda and then quickly changed it over for the cocktail hour when the ceremony was finished. He was so easy to work with and was there to make sure everything went smoothly, and it did. There is no way to go wrong with this venue. The view from the ballroom is breathtaking. Schedule a visit. You will fall in love and your pictures will be amazing. -

The Sky Retreat Venue in Purlear NC has the most beautiful mountain views. It was the perfect place for our daughter's wedding. The most caring and friendly people to work with. The owners, Merin & Demi are beautiful kind people. Their venue is so gorgeous and the views breathtaking. Christina helped us with everything we needed, accommodations, tons of questions. She was extremely patient with me as I called her multiple times. She was always sweet and ready to answer any questions I had. Beth and Vito were so kind and helpful especially when we encountered over an hour delay due to rain. The just smiled right through it, helping us all stay calm and keep the faith that the rain would leave and it did. Beautiful rainbows were forming and we got some beautiful pictures. I give this Beautiful place and all who keep it running a 10+++ . -

Gorgeous place to have a wedding, even in the rain and fog
They say rain is good luck on a wedding day, we think that it also counts on a foggy day. We originally picked Sky Retreat for the view and location, and we're so happy with the service from the team at Sky Retreat and the venue was gorgeous on a foggy day as well. It was a great location that allowed us flexibility and was just the right size for our wedding. Even with planning from a distance, it was great to work with the team at Sky Retreat. -

Beautiful!!
This venue exceeded our expectations! With a wonderful view and beautiful building for a reception we couldn’t have ask for more. They were also very helpful with set up and always willing to answer any questions I had. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a venue that seems to set you on top of the world. -

Emily Sent on 01/04/2018We LOVE this location! The view is amazing and the reception area is huge with amazing lighting and windows that show off the mountain view. They answered all my questions, and i had a lot, quickly and clearly. We stayed on site in the cabins that they have offered and were very comfortable and love the beauty around us.
