October 7th Wedding in the Gardens
Kim James and her Six Star Team are beyond 6 stars. Our October 7th wedding could not have been more perfect, the food, the service, the cocktail hour were all beautifully orchestrated by Kim and her team. The best part was choosing someone who knew the event space, Historic Glen Burnie House and Gardens, that dealt with all the rentals, tent included, helping to make it a magical night. Thank you Kim for your attention to detail and wealth of knowledge, you guided us through the most perfect day/ -

Wonderful Food & Service
Kim was very responsive from day one and she helped craft our menu and even made a few tweaks to a recipe to accommodate our vegan guests. The process was seamless and professional. Additionally, her team planned with me and then took ownership over place settings which was a huge help with set up. Moreover though, the food was phenomenal. I still crave those mashed potatoes! -

Six Star helped make our daughter’s wedding reception perfect. Everyone agreed the food was delicious! The presentation was lovely, and everything ran smoothly. Kim and her staff were courteous, efficient and professional. Kim was helpful with making necessary accommodations due to COVID. SO glad we had them on our team for our daughter’s special day!! -

And Kim and Six Star events does it again! She has now catered for both my daughter's weddings and this year the rehearsal as well. The 8.22 wedding was perfect and Kim had so much to do with that. From placing the rental orders, elegantly dressing the tables, creating a timeline, to coordinating the air conditioning and most importantly, alleviating stress during these Covid times, we could not have done it without her. She and her staff went above and beyond, individually plating appetizers and taking every precaution to have a beautiful and safe wedding. The food was delicious as always and the presentation is a true work of art. Her passion in serving her clients and her dedication to the industry is extraordinary. Anyone looking to host an event large or small, Six Star Events is your answer. Blessed to have her for the most important day in my daughters' lives. -

The team at Six Star Events catered the PERFECT fresh, farm-to-table meal for my mother's surprise, (and socially distanced) 70th birthday celebration! Our guests continue to rave about the food. From the proposal process to the delivery day, I did not worry about a thing regarding the food. Kim and Haley James made everything so easy and stress-free. All the dishes were delivered chilled (it was almost 90 degrees that day!), labeled and ready to serve. Haley iced the almond-raspberry cupcakes on site so the icing wouldn't melt during transit. Everything was absolutely amazing and just what I had in mind when I told Kim I was aiming for an "elevated picnic dinner." I highly recommend Six Star Events and I can't wait to hire them again! -

I hired Six Star Events for my October 5th wedding -- Not only were the staff so professional that everything was taken care of without it being painfully apparent that things were being taken care of (if you've witnessed wait staff slowly and painstakingly clearing dishes, you know what I mean), the food was SO GOOD! I had a wonderful Antipasti Station with a plethora of gourmet, select cheeses, cured meats, marinated vegetables, housemade pickled tri-colored carrots, a variety of gourmet breads... YUM. Everyone was impressed. I also chose to have BBQ fare because everyone loves barbecue...and love it they did. I had Korean BBQ Chicken that was moist and flavorful; traditional Country-Style Green Beans; rich and creamy Scalloped Potatoes, and housemade purple cabbage Coleslaw. I can't say enough about the food and the service. I also want to add that Kim kept me on track for when I needed to be places--from hands-off on the decor setup (because I chose to do handle some wedding decor on my own) to walking down the aisle with my mom. She checked on me all night, too, to make sure I had what I needed. Kim knows what she's doing--trust her -

We have worked with the Six Star team for many weddings and from a vendor perspective, I can tell you they have a hard-earned reputation of delivery for each and every couple. Kim James and her professional, well-trained Six Star team were so easy to work with while planning our daughter's wedding. When planning a once-in-a-lifetime event, catering is everything. The food was impeccable, the service the day of was extraordinary, and without her instrumental help during the planning I would have had no idea which end was up and surely would have forgotten something major in the planning. She cued me to think of so many things throughout the process to make sure my day was perfect and her team could help me out as best as they possibly could. Not only was she an excellent caterer but generally an excellent source to help plan and deliver the best event possible. I would not hesitate to recommend Kim and Six Star Events to someone planning a wedding or any large event for that matter. Her pricing was fair and she is easy to work with on the budget you have in mind. And honestly, my husband and I still talk about the maitre'd and how she made our entire night... never an empty drink to be had! -

I was very nervous about having the wedding there without at least a day-of coordinator, but when you hire Six Star Catering, you get Kim James as a wedding planner. Kim put me at ease as soon as I met with her. Kim is very nice, always answered my emails incredibly quickly, and is very well-organized. She handled all the rentals for my wedding, including the tent. Kim also has a genuine enthusiasm for event planning; she seemed almost as excited about my wedding as I was, and I really appreciated that. In addition to the phenomenal Kim, the food that Six Star Catering prepared was delicious. I received so many compliments from guests, and they all wanted seconds. I highly recommend Six Star Catering to any bride! -

Erica Sent on 07/31/2010Planning our big day with Kim was AMAZING! Kim is a warm and kindhearted woman who runs a great catering business. Six Star Catering was extremely professional and relaxed. We wanted our catering experience to be laid back but with 5 star quality service and food! Six Star is where it is at. Kim is all full of smiles and just radiates warmth. She is kind and patient and will work with any bride. She was extremely informative and knows what she is doing! We stayed in touch through out the entire wedding planning process. She is responsive and attentive. Now the food. OMG The FOOD! Our cocktail house started out with passed hors d'œuvres. The shrimp tostadas with an avocado cream sauce, bruschetta, and little spinach pastries. They were all delicious! The shrimp tostadas were my personal favorite. The stationary cheese and fruit was beautiful and the cheeses were exceptional. The variety was a nice touch. Our main courses were plentiful, tasty, and fresh. The horseradish sauce on our tenderloin was so fresh. You could tell that the sauce was made from scratch. We also had the pene with mushroom cream sauce and lemon risotto. They were the perfect touch to a wedding reception filled with Italian family. Six Star received the family approval on these dishes! The salad, the chicken, the linens, EVERYTHING was exceptional. Oh and the staff was amazing. They were very friendly and happy. Very refreshing to see a happy staff that had as much fun as we did! (I wanted it that way) All I can say to sum up my review is Six Star Catering seriously is amazing! Thank you for our beautiful day! -

Angie Sent on 08/30/2009Kim James and the folks at Six Star were great. When we met Kim, we knew it was a great fit!! She has a fabulous personality and clearly pays attention to detail. Kim helped us with obtaining rentals for our wedding. The food was delicious! And, the cake...we can't say enough good things. Six Star works with an amazing baker, who not only has tremendous baking skills, but a great personality as well!
We had a buffet dinner, which was well-organized and plenitful. Several people even went back for seconds! During the reception, the staff was professional and extremely attentive. They were very flexible with us and even helped us honor a special guest during our reception. We changed our schedule of events mid-reception - and, they helped us make the reception flow without losing a beat! Thanks to everyone at Six Star for making our wedding reception a very successful event! -

Callie Sent on 06/13/2013My mouth will forever water thinking about the delicious meal that Kim and Six Star Catering made for our wedding. It was absolutely spectacular! Kim and team were so helpful along the way in creating a meal that would have something for everyone and fit our budget. I think all of our guests were very happy with our selections and we were very happy too. The service through Six Star Events was also great and Kim and team made sure everything ran smoothly. Six Star was wonderful to work with, food was amazing and the staff were great! -

Darcy Sent on 07/02/2009I was delighted to find a full meal for less thatn $20 a head. The email correspondance was excellent. All the food was good, except the chicken was a little flavorless. All in all, I was very pleased. The only thing that I was a little frustrated about was that the caterer forgot to put the votive candles on the table even though I set up one table as an example and wrote a note on the box of votives in the carriage-house.
