Boudoir Wing Session

This was one of the best experiences of my life. I originally thought I would do it for my husband but it turned out I was doing it for myself. The whole experience from start to finish is amazing and when you leave you feel like a super model.

Shawn Black is an amazing photographer and is extremely professional. He gives great direction on how to pose and isn’t afraid to show you how to pose.

Life-altering, Game-changer, Mind-over-matter

More like 6 stars! Not only are our pictures incredibly amazing but Shawn had a confident and calming presence over the day. Like most brides I stalked the weather leading up to the big day. The rain was forecasted to clear early afternoon giving us plenty of time to still have our first look, family photos and ceremony outside. When this didn’t happen, Shawn worked with our venue to come up with the best plan B for both pictures and ceremony. Plan B ended up being better than I could have ever imagine. While you can’t control the weather, you can control the vendors you choose.

Amazing and uplifting experience!

To all of the ladies who want a day of glam, wear sexy outfits and maybe even wear some angel wings, then you need to book a session with Shawn at Couture Black! From the pre-session consult to the day of your photo shoot and to your reveal, Shawn and his team are professional, supporting and encouraging! This was my first time doing a photo shoot like this and I was definitely nervous but Shawn and team put me at ease. When I went for my reveal, I was blown away! I couldn't believe it was actually me and how amazing they all looked! The hardest part was trying to pick my favorites, I really wanted them all! Ladies don’t hesitate on booking a session, you WILL NOT regret it and definitely will feel like the badass bombshell that you are! I am already thinking of my next session and all of the fun outfits to pick out!

So much more than a photo shoot...

Thinking about having a photo shoot done is scary. Thinking about doing it with hardly any clothes is terrifying. But Shawn puts you completely at ease and it is by far the best experience you will ever have. I left my photo shoot feeling not only excited to do another one, but also more confident in my own skin. And then the revealing...oh my god! You see yourself completely differently. Shawn is all about finding your inner goddess and he does it every time.

Great experience

I won a boudoir photoshoot with Shawn at an auction and it was a wonderful experience! He was funny, flexible, and very professional. Made me feel comfortable and beautiful. 1st Boudoir Shoot

I decided to do a boudoir shoot first because it was an item on my bucket list and second I recently lost some weight. I had a friend do a shoot with Shawn at Couture Black Photography and the results were FABULOUS! From first contact with Shawn in regards to a boudoir photo shoot, there was nothing but professionalism and self-confidence building. The time Shawn spent with me at my pre-shoot was commendable. He asked me lots of questions to get to know me so that he could know what I was really looking for. I am a nervous person and a bit insecure about my ‘problem areas’, Shawn told me not to worry.
The day of my photo shoot I was definitely a nervous wreck, his hair and makeup woman was outstanding and made me feel like a model. Shawn played music in the background to help calm my nerves and get me in the groove. When I was beautified and ready to go, Shawn explained exactly what was going to happen, how my poses would make my best assets be seen and my areas of insecurity will be hidden. He was calm, gentle, and took his time to get the best shots. When my shoot was over I left walking on air. I was already planning my next shoot.
When I was called to see my photos I was again nervous, I wasn’t sure I would like any as I hate any picture of myself. At my reveal Shawn was genuinely excited for me to see my pictures. He played the video of my pictures, when the video was over, I had NO words, and all I could do was cry. My pictures were beautiful, Shawn shot me in perfect angles, and I saw no flaws. I LOVED MY PHOTOS. Shawn spent time with me going over my pictures and making sure I got the exact ones I wanted. Shawn had previously assured me he would make me feel my best, HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Shawn made me feel beautiful, confident, sexy, empowered, things I do not think I have every really felt before. I would recommend every woman in the world get a boudoir shoot and every woman go to Couture Black Photography. There are not enough words of praise for Shawn and his skills!

Professional and Transforming

I recently had my second boudoir photo shoot with Shawn Black. This time, the shoot was in his new photo studio. It was classy, rich, warm and welcoming, The shoot itself was exciting and uplifting. Shawn was first introduced to us by a friend of mine, who raved about Shawn's amazing photography from her own wedding. We are so happy that we booked him as our own photographer because we can't imagine our pictures being any better. Shawn has such an amazing talent for capturing moments and unique images, which is exactly what you want on your wedding day. His contagious energy and passion for photography are obvious in his photos. He is able to blend in so well that your guests will literally have no idea they’re being photographed. He is truly a jack of all wedding trades, going above and beyond what you would typically expect a wedding photographer to do. Literally...he was a wedding day coordinator, advocate, seamstress ( Yes-seamstress. He fixed the broken bustle on my gown in the middle of our wedding reception) and friend. I also have to mention that my husband does not smile much for the camera, and Shawn caught the most amazing pictures of him smiling. He seriously looks like a GQ model. Shawn Black literally made my wedding day complete! He was extremely professional and clearly passionate about his craft. Shawn Black is exactly what you need for your wedding. From our first meeting with him, to our engagement pictures to our wedding day - he was absolutely amazing. His pictures are stunning and he knows exactly what to do and how to stand in order to get the best shot. My wedding day was very chaotic until Shawn showed up and was able to bring me back down to earth. He is very calming and isn't afraid to speak up to anyone who may be making your special day anything less than perfect. We got our pictures back about 3 months later and they were SO worth the wait. Shawn is wonderful to work with and I'm confident we'll have some gorgeous photos to look back on for the rest of our lives. We loved our engagement shots and the previews of our wedding photos - which we used for thank you notes after the wedding. Our guests appreciated and complimented us on them as well. Working with Shawn you feel like you're in great hands - he's professional, kind, calming, knowledgeable, and fun to boot! He's great at communicating everything ahead of time, putting you at ease during the preparation and on one of the most stressful - and wonderful - days of your life. That's what you want and need on your wedding day - to be surrounded by pros, so you can simply enjoy every moment!

Here’s more information about what it’s like working with Shawn: He makes sure that he's capturing all of the traditional shots, as well being open to accommodating any special requests that you have (ahead of time, and on the day-of). Shawn has a great eye for creating wonderful shots that highlight both the couple and the beautiful scenery - which is a recipe for some really unique photographs. He's very intuitive: for example, as we were doing family portraits the day-of, he could tell I wanted to add another family member into a shot without my having to say anything... and he proactively asked me if I wanted to add that person in. He was on top of it! He was also great about making sure we stayed on schedule as we ran around from place to place.

The bottom line, he's a very skilled photographer at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Shawn for your wedding, engagement, and any portrait photography.

There is so much great to say about Shawn that hasn't already been said. He provided an exceptional experience for me and my wife. From the initial consultation Shawn made everything so smooth. He was very personable. He shared some funny stories with us. The preparation was grade A. He made sure he got every detail from us that he needed and of course things we may have left out. Shawn Black was amazing at our wedding! The shots he took came out great and he knew exactly how to capture the perfect lighting of the different times of the day. He not only took fabulous pictures of the entire day but he also gave great advice for everything throughout the day to make it go smoothly! I did not even need to go to my bridal emergency kit with the extra safety pins for my bustle of my dress, Shawn had everything right with him so it didn't take time away getting all of that stuff. We still can't believe our luck in finding Shawn! Not only is he truly the best and most artistic wedding photographer one could ever find (I work in the visual & media art field) but he was also kind and generous and professional. On top of being an amazing photographer, Shawn also gave my husband and me advice on how to plan our wedding since we were pretty clueless. So in the end he was our wedding photographer cum wedding planner. :)

Once I saw the images for the photos I thought it would not get any better than having the images, but no, the photo album completely blew me away! If that was not the most amazing wedding photo album, I'm not sure what is! From the presentation to the printing and paper quality to the most spectacular cover, the album screams "art and perfection." It adds a nice exclamation point to our wonderful wedding.

Shawn is a great find! We would not go to any other photographer for any occasions that need photography!

He was so attentive to both our needs and everyone loved when my bustle broke how he stepped in with his toolbox and fixed it for me! I would recommend Shawn Black to anyone. From the first meeting to after we received our final pictures, Shawn was professional, a perfectionist and helpful! We planned our wedding in a little less than 2 months and after seeing the beautiful pictures that Shawn gave my cousin, I knew he would be a key part of being able to pull it off as flawless as possible. Not once was I ever worried that the pictures would turn out less than perfect and Shawn exceeded my expectations. For many brides, the pictures are very important and I was no exception. Shawn even went so far as to pass on helpful wedding day tips that he has picked up along the way on what to do or not do leading up to and on the wedding day. He wore many hats and wore them well - wedding planner, wrangler, photographer and artist. I will cherish his photo's for the rest of my life!

Where do I begin? SHAWN BLACK IS AMAZING! He is seriously the BEST photographer a bride and groom could hope for! When we first met with Shawn he was so easy to talk to and had great ideas! We talked for over two hours and we knew that he was our photographer! My husband was skeptical about an engagement session, but when we arrived Shawn made the whole experience SO fun! They talked sports and he made us laugh. I felt like we were best friends with him by the end of that day! The best part was that my husband told me that he had FUN and ENJOYED the experience! During our final meeting with Shawn he told us everything we needed to know for the day of, He told my husband to use extra shaving cream and a new blade, he told us to make sure to drink lots of water, to eat, and to most importantly enjoy every moment. Shawn is not just a photographer he also acts as a coordinator! The day of our wedding, as every bride I was beyond excited and not thinking of everything, Shawn literally thought of EVERYTHING! It was a little windy and when I got out of the car my veil came out...Shawn said "don't panic I have bobby pins, blonde ones" Also my beautiful dyed HOT PINK wedding shoes got water spilled on them and were dripping all over my hands, BUT no worries Shawn had a wedding kit full of everything needed and saved the day by drying my shoes and getting the pink off my hands. And most importantly when my zipper on my dress was stuck, and my girls were slightly panicked....Shawn stepped in and saved the day! All night at our wedding people said to us "WOW your photographer is AMAZING!" They had not even seen our photos yet they were just judging by his professionalism and watching him work around us. Shawn Black is by far one of the best things we spent our money on, he is worth it I can promise you that!!!! I recommend him with my highest regard and hope that every bride and groom get to experience what we did!

Shawn Black is amazing! Making the decision on who you are going to put your trust into to capture all the special moments on your big day can be very stressful but as soon as I saw Shawn's portfolio and talked to him, I knew I didn't have to look any further! We did an engagement session with him as well which was great! We were on the waterfront in Boston and it was so windy that day but that didn't stop Shawn. He had us standing in all different positions, in multiple spots just so he could get photos without my hair blowing in my face. The photos were fabulous! 2 days before my wedding, he called me to chat and go over the details to make sure he had everything in order. We talked for a bit and he told me what I should, and more importantly, what I shouldn't do on my end to make sure our wedding photos were perfect. He listened to what I wanted and was also able to offer some great advice. The morning of our wedding, Shawn came to take photos of me and my bridal party getting ready before the ceremony. He kept asking me if I had eaten (I hadn't) and finally made me sit down and eat something small because he knew I needed it! Our 5 year old son was also part of our wedding and Shawn was great with him! What 5 year old boy wants to stand around and take formal photos for an hour?! Shawn made it fun for him and got some great shots which of course, are some of my favorites! I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more from Shawn. He wasn't just our photographer, I now consider him a friend. He was the one who calmed me down in the morning, reminded me to smile even though I was anxious and made me feel comfortable! He pays great attention to detail and listens but is also fun! I could go on and on talking about how amazing Shawn is but if you take the time to meet him, you will know right away what I am talking about!!!

My husband and I selected Shawn Black as our wedding photographer based on the outstanding photographs we had seen in his portfolio . . . we'd recommend him to others for that reason and many, many more. Shawn made the entire experience special while still managing to put us at ease. From our first meeting at our engagement shoot, Shawn was prepared and professional, able to answer all of our questions about photography and weddings in general. His experience was clear as his ideas for photographs were unique and well-executed, and he instantly made us feel comfortable and in good hands.
Throughout the process, Shawn was quick to respond and always available to answer questions for us. He helped craft the right schedule of photography events for us in advance of the wedding day so that we felt prepared, and he followed-up days before to confirm. He was prompt on the wedding day, and even when I was a bundle of nerves minutes before the ceremony he was able to calm me down, get me to laugh, and get some amazing photos.
The wedding day was a blur, and like you'd want in a great wedding photographer Shawn blended into the background -- I can't say I remember seeing him much as I buzzed around in a dream! But the photos we received said everything I needed to know -- he was everywhere that day, paying attention to the special moments and capturing things I didn't even know where going on. The photographs are spectacular, and I cannot imagine anyone having done any better. We simply cannot recommend Shawn enough.

I cannot say enough good things about Shawn. I would recommend him over and over to anyone getting married. He was especially helpful the day of my wedding, helping a bridesmaid with a broken dress, and helping me with my corset back on my gown! (He made it fit even better than the bridal shop did!) I told Shawn that it was important that we not make my guest wait at the reception, he was super quick and efficient in getting all of the family and important pictures done on time! Shawn was an AMAZING photographer. He did both our engagement session and our wedding. He used the engagement session to gauge how we were as a couple and geared our shots appropriately. He also met with us on several occasions and was always available by phone or email to answer any questions before the big day. During the wedding, I became very anxious (it was a little over a week after the Marathon bombings and I hadn't really recovered) and he was honestly the one who made me feel comfortable and stable and beautiful throughout the day. I would recommend Shawn to everyone!

What can I say, Shawn Black is amazing. Not only are his photographs stunning, but he is willing to work with you and truly cares about his clients. Shawn has the ability to capture so many great moments that you never even realized had happened! Shawn was an absolute dream to work with. He was extremely professional and immediately understood what my husband and I were hoping to see in our pictures. Shawn Black did an amazing job at our wedding yesterday, not only did he come beyond prepared with tons of creative ideas on how best to capture the moments but he was also able to put us at ease in front of the camera which was huge for my husband and I. Words can not describe how wonderful Shawn is, He is very professional but besides that he is great to work with he has a wonderful personality and his work speaks for itself.
Shawn made me, my husband, our wedding party and guests feel so comfortable and it was like we knew him for years. We loved every minute of it, the time went by so fast. The pictures came out fantastic.. I want to thank Shawn for making our day wonderful.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experience was having Shawn Black as my wedding photographer! Shawn has mastered the balance of being the consummate professional, having the perfect eye for photography and thinking outside of the box.
Our engagement pictures were unbelievable and the session was so much fun. We shot outside of Fenway Park and Shawn totally captured the true "us" with the rich backgrounds of the Green Monster and fenway brick. We loved them so much that had them made into a book that we used as a guest book at the wedding. Everyone raved about them!
The day of wedding Shawn was so much more than our photographer. He totally kept us on time as we were getting ready at my mother's house all while keeping me completely relaxed. He even ended up helping my sister tie up the corset back of my dress! He captured all of my formal shots in a timely manner and after that if felt like we hardly saw him.....he managed to capture every moment of the wedding while blending in with the background and without sticking out in the crowd. We got all of the important shots (cake cutting, first dance, etc) but more importantly Shawn captured the emotion and excitement of the night with his candid shots. We will cherish these pictures the most and feel as though we re-live the wedding each time we look at them.
We recommend Shawn Black to everyone who wants any event captured on film...he is the absolute best!

Shawn did our engagement session as well as our wedding day and we had a great experience with him both times. We wandered around Boston in the freezing cold for our engagement session and he had no problem crawling around on the ground to get a couple of shots we wanted.

For the wedding he beat us to the venue and called me since I was stuck in traffic and got right to work with all of the dress, accessory and setup shots he could while he was waiting for our arrival. Once we go there he got everything else and we rushed down for the ceremony keeping everything right on time. Shawn and his second shooter did a great job at catching everything and we put them to the test with motorcycles, climbing a ladder and getting a few shots on the boat we were taking on our honeymoon.

Shawn will definately get the shots you're looking for and is really easy to get a hold of if you have any questions or concerns.

Shawn was one of our favorite vendors to work with. Not only was he professional and willing to take my ideas into account, he was also fun and made everyone feel comfortable working with him. I've gotten compliments from numerous wedding guests that wanted to tell me how "awesome our photographer was." A couple of people asked for his contact info for their own future weddings. He even handled my crazy, and sometimes obnoxious, family perfectly. It seemed like he was everywhere at once. I had sent Shawn a couple of unique wedding photos that I found online and wanted to do something similar, though I had no idea how to do it. He came up with something so perfect and amazing that it's my favorite photo of the entire day and I've gotten dozens and dozens of compliments on it. Hire Shawn, you won't regret it!

Having a wedding at a destination that you know absolutely nothing about and then combining the biggest day of your life in the mix brings on a whole other level of stress. From the moment we found Shawn online and that point forward he has made it a priority to become our friends. He responded quickly to our inquiry, quoted and amazing price and developed a relationship with us in the first week. In the process of getting to know us and finding out what was important to us as couple for our special day he spent many hours on Skype and email with us. One of the first things everyone wants when they are hiring a photographer is to feel important. Important enough to receive the advice, the attention, and the best they would provide for all of their clients no matter how far the budget can take them. Shawn was the first person to respond and treat us as if we were the most important clients he had. We had the privilege of having a well educated photographer about different locations within Boston that met our unique situation. With the wedding being at another destination, we wanted to embrace the essence of the coast, and some of the history of Boston baseball and Shawn Black went above and beyond to capture these special moments for us. The BEST wedding photographer you’ll ever find

I’m writing over a year after my wedding due to being a slacker with reviews, but here we go.

Shawn Black did the photos for my best friends wedding before he had his own company. Seeing his work three years before my own wedding, I knew without a doubt that I wanted him to photograph mine and my husband’s. His level of professionalism is hard to find, and trust me we met with a lot of photographers. My husband wanted to shop around before we met with Shawn Black, but from the first meeting, even my husband was sold.

From the initial meeting, to the engagement session, to the day of planning, Shawn was with us every step of the way. He was honest when explaining to us that we would have to have a first look, something that crushed me at the time, but took the time to explain why it would be better than seeing each other at the alter. He had everything you’d need on your wedding day if something went wrong with your dress too, which was helpful when my bustle didn’t work.

The day of our wedding, the heavens opened up and I was crushed. Shawn, however, kept me calm and an eye on the weather. He told me, “I’ve never Not gotten to take the pictures because of rain.” He delayed is for an extra 15 minutes past when we were supposed to leave, and wouldn’t you know it, the rain had stopped for the weekend. I swear he’s that good! Our first look was just as amazing as he promised it would be, if not more. My husband still talks about it when friends ask about the pictures.

Shawn was in places we didn’t even realize during the ceremony. Pictures of family and friends that I had no idea he or Vail (our second photographer) took were a surprise when we first viewed them months later. He interacted with the guests at the reception, and he was always aware of what Shawn and I were doing together, getting those perfect shots. Family and friends were telling us at the end of the night how amazing they thought our photographer was. I also think he cried during mine and my dad’s father daughter dance, sorry!

When we got our photos later on, my husband and I were blown away. I still look at the photos randomly and it brings me back to that day. When all is said and done, your photos are what you have forever. My husband and I are so happy that we have those memories captured so beautifully. And I’m happy to be able to call Shawn Black a friend at the end of all of this.

People who have seen my photos (those that were at my wedding as well as those who were not) are so enamored with what what was captured. The people at my wedding were speaking for days about "the photographers climbing fire escapes and rolling around to get the shot like they were in an action movie" We are so please with the way our photos came out!

Shawn and his team were terrific! Very accommodating, prepared, calming and flexible during the otherwise hectic wedding day. In addition, we also enjoyed our engagement photo session, which was a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera... great idea!!!

Shawn's photos are very artistic. Some photos were processed to be black and white and I like them. He takes a lot of kissing photos as well.

Working with Shawn was a great experience! He's very friendly and down to Earth and super easy to get along with. He made us very comfortable during our engagement pictures, which made the wedding day a lot more enjoyable. The pictures he took came out absolutely stunning. The only thing that wasn't totally what we wanted was the family and bridal party portrait. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we had to take them inside and the chosen space was a bit hectic and cramped. We were extremely happy with how well the portraits of us came out, which is the most important part! We would definitely recommend Shawn to anyone looking for a photographer!

Shawn is absolutely great. His passion for photography shines through and he did an excellent job in making us comfortable during our experience (we are not big picture taking people). He was also respectful of our budget and helped to make a package that fit our photography and financial needs.

On our wedding day we took photos before our wedding & during cocktail hour. During cocktail hour we took formals with my husband & I standing center adding people in as they were called. These photos were all very basic. We did not get any “fun” or candid photos with our bridal party. We received our images 4 ½ months after our wedding (740 images from 2 photographers/10hrs). I realized photos missing (photo of my parents, my grandfather, candid photos of our wedding guests enjoying our day, solos of bride/groom, photo with grandparent, & only ONE photo of my entire bridal party). It was upsetting. To see the look on my Mother’s face when she realized there was NO photo of her & my father broke me inside. I contacted Shawn via email to express my unsatisfactory. He was very professional however I felt he didn’t answer my questions of why the photos were missing. He explained weather, transportation, coordinators etc all of which I don’t see a reason why a photo of my parents could not be taken. There wasn’t a photo of them dancing together during our first dance (also listed on must have). He did offer me an album at 50% off but I did not want to present more money to him. 2 weeks later, my mother in law telephoned him to discuss my displeasure. She requested additional photos, but he stated he did not have any worth giving as there were people not looking, eyes closed etc. It’s hard for me to say this but I would not recommend Shawn again to future brides. I met with Shawn for 2 hours a month before my wedding day & went over all of the things I wished to have from him. I filled out a wedding worksheet he requested that included 85 questions about our wedding day & “must have” photos. It’s tough to feel like you paid a lot of money for services that you did not like the result of, but you still had to pay for them.
