Shado is amazing to work with!! My husband had hired Shado for our surprise engagement shoot and he immediately made us feel so comfortable. When we were planning our wedding it was no question to hire Shado. He makes everything so easy to plan, making the wedding process feel so simple. Our wedding guests, especially our bridal party cannot stop raving about Shado and his work. He knows exactly how to pose everyone. His pictures are absolutely stunning. Shado photographed our December wedding and was wonderful to work with! He is quick to respond, kind, easy going, makes you feel so comfortable. When at other weddings I usually feel like the photographer stands out and is in the way. Shado blended into our event seemlessly. I did not notice him at all and there were so many photos where I didn't even realize he was there to capture the moment. The preview photos we got exceeded my expectations and I LOVED all of them. We would absolutely work with him again in the future! -

A love with a never ending beat
We are a typical couple with normal human nerves with these types of experiences. Shado was able to relieve these feelings upon arrival! We took pictures at our home and at a beautiful spot in NH! He made the whole experience one to never forget! We love love love the pictures that came back to us! He let us choose our adventure and made sure to highlight what we wanted from the pictures. Their style of photography was exactly what we wanted for our Maine island wedding. Shado and Isabelle shot our wedding at Sweet Pea's Cafe in Bar Harbor ME on 5/19/2024. The two of them were punctual, extraordinarily professional, hilarious, and an absolute pleasure to work with.
From the initial consultation we had with them, it was clear that they were on top of their game. We had an hour long conversation about what we were looking for, how the day would go, and what photos might be important to us - Shado and Isa brought up many great details and considerations we might have overlooked otherwise.
Next was a detailed questionnaire regarding the day and the photos we wanted. Being able to check boxes for specific photo types and being prompted to think about exactly what groupings of photos we wanted was extremely helpful.
Finally comes the day of - the two of them showed up to the getting-ready locations on time and ready to go, bringing a relaxed but professional air which made it feel easy and comfortable to be photographed. It didn't feel intrusive at all to have them in our spaces as we got prepared. During the ceremony they were somehow everywhere while being very unobtrusive, it was amazing to look through the photos afterward and see all of the great captures (and wonder how they could have been in 10 places at once!).
One of the best parts - we have NEVER seen or been a part of a smoother family/group/couples photos operation right after the ceremony. With Shado shooting and Isabelle directing (she knew everyone's names, never a single 'hey you' and had a detailed shots list based on the questionnaire we had filled out in hand), it was quick and painless. Isabelle handled Maddie's distractable father starting to wander off with tact and humor, and everyone was off to cocktail hour quickly. Couples photos were similarly smooth and enjoyable, and then the two of them wandered and captured many wonderful photos of venue, dinner, and dancing.
We got our photos back in 6 weeks and were stunned! They really captured the setting, the people, and the vibe beautifully. Could not be happier with how they all came out, and as an added bonus, the photos were grouped by category (girls getting ready, guys getting ready, wedding parties, couples portraits, etc), avoiding one huge folder with thousands of photos to go through. We had a great time slowly going through one section at a time and reliving our day.
11/10 experience with these two. You'll be psyched to have them on your team--they helped to make our day easy and smooth, added to the joy, and provided us with photos that were better than we could've hoped for.Shado of a Rose Photography's reply:

Shado and Isabelle were a joy to work with for our engagement photos. They made the trip all the way out to Star Island, NH (not the easiest place to get to!) without hesitation. We had an hour and 15 minutes to work with due to the ferry schedule and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We hit all the spots we wanted to plus a few more. They were immediately warm and friendly and made us feel at ease. The dynamic between the two of them is fantastic and they gave us such great instructions. We could not have had a better experience. We absolutely adore the shots they got and will cherish them forever!

I can’t recommend Isabelle and Shado enough for elopement photography. From our first consultation, I felt like they truly cared about our vision and capturing our unique wedding. My wife and I got married at a scenic overlook that was a little complicated to get to, but Isabelle and Shado stayed flexible and everything worked out perfectly. The two of them were a dynamic duo, and captured our special moments from all angles. We will cherish these photos, and I’m so glad they’ll adorn our walls for the rest of our lives as a reminder of this day. One shot of my wedding dress looks like it belongs in Vogue.
Isabelle and Shado’s passion for photography shone through all of their work. Even though we were a bit over time after our ceremony and portrait shots, they spotted a field of gorgeous lupines nearby and offered to take photos there, too. Those shots ended up being our favorites. Definitely work with Isabelle and Shado if you want photographers that do their job with love and care.

Incredible Couple - Great Photos
Shado and Isabelle were so incredibly flexible, passionate, open and thoughtful. We are so lucky and happy we found them to capture the moments on our special day! Shado was better than anything we could have hoped for! Not only did he give us over 500 beautiful pictures that captured the silliness, love, and joy of our special day, (and get us a preview of over 50 within a few days!) but he was such a joy to have at the wedding. He made everything that required gathering people really stress-free yet quick so that even though we had a pretty long list of shots to get, we were still able to enjoy most of our cocktail hour.
The editing of our photos is sublime. For such a cool gloomy day, the photos have an incredible warmth. We're obsessed.

Isa and Shado far exceeded our expectations. We opted for their highest package, which included them for the entire wedding day and an engagement session as well. I’m so glad we were able to meet them for our engagement session, I felt like we clicked right away and it was so nice to break the ice. We kept in contact with them leading up to the wedding, which was reassuring. Their communication was great. They really took our vision for our special day and blew our minds. We still get so many compliments on them, Isa and Shado really are amazing! I can’t recommend them enough. Photos were delivered on time, there was no miscommunication about that. Shado and Isabelle were the best decision we made for our wedding day! They made us feel super comfortable, which clearly showed in the photographs they captured. We were floored eith the quality of their work. They made it an enjoyable experience from our engagement session through the wedding day. Even when the bridal party was running late, they helped us with logistics, and even secured us a ride on a golf cart to make sure the bride made it to the ceremony without getting wet in the rain! If we could give 10 stars, we would!
The search for a wedding photographer in northern Maine was no easy feat. After contacting over 15 different photographers, I finally came across Shado and Isabelle's business, Shado of a Rose. I only needed to read a few sentences on their "About Us" page to know that we HAD to book them for our wedding! I immediately reached out, expecting to wait a few days for a response but within minutes I had received the most thoughtful and caring response, one that addressed each of the questions I had asked and also made me feel like we were already old friends. In that moment I knew we found a true diamond in the rough.
We coordinated a few phone calls to align on our photography needs and quickly got to know each other, couple to couple (one of my favorite aspects of the process was the "homework" they assigned, for my now husband and I to each share 3 things we love about one another). Not only was their photography portfolio beautiful but who they are as people was equally (if not more) beautiful! We kept in regular contact up until our wedding and on the big day, Isabelle quickly became part of our family, a true fan favorite of all our guests. She brought both professionalism and fun to our special day and the moments she captured will be cherished forever. And going back to timing, we received our sneak peek album within just a week of our wedding day with the rest of our album arriving very thoughtfully on our 1-month anniversary - talk about attention to detail! And might I add, the photos were absolutely STUNNING!
I couldn't be happier with our decision to partner with Shado and Isabelle on our special day and am already scheming on how we can partner with them again in the future! We love you both and greatly appreciate you being a part of this exciting new chapter of our lives! Until next time! -

FAVORITE VENDORS WE HIRED! Issa and Shado were the first vendors we secured because Issa was the first person who didn’t make me feel stressed out about the wedding planning process, and then we had so much fun with Shado at our engagement shoot. BEST decision we made, and we got complements from guests about them the whole night! They made portraits go quickly so we could get back to mingling (Issa is just the right amount of assertive to get those chatty family members wrangled up and in position) and they captured EVERY little spontaneous interaction so that we have photographs to remember each beautiful, organic moment instead of all generic, posed photos. They got high quality flattering photos of pretty much every single guest too so EVERYONE has been excited going through the albums! Even though it was a gloomy rainy day, all of the colors are vibrant and they made us look so good. On top of all of that, they were extremely professional and got photos back to us very quickly (a couple days after the wedding they delivered a sneak peak!) They brought a very fun and calming presence to our wedding day so that we didn’t feel stressed out even though we were running behind (our fault) and it started raining last minute. They just quickly found solutions and executed things. We would book them again in a heart beat! -

Amazing photographer - definitely recommend!
We had such a great experience working with Shado again for our vow renewal photos! He's fun, easy to work with, and does an amazing job not only giving posing directions but actually demonstrating them, which I found incredibly helpful. He brought so much energy and creativity to the sunrise shoot, was flexible with the early timing, and kept everything fun and relaxed. The photos turned out absolutely gorgeous—honestly exactly what I was hoping for—and we had such a hard time narrowing down our favorites because there were so many we loved. He captured so many different angles and perspectives throughout the session, and I'd absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer. From the moment we had our first consultation six months before the wedding date, Isa and Shado made us feel comfortable and at ease, and seamlessly integrated into our event to capture every precious moment. We did not feel like we were being observed or that the event was being chronicled. Instead, we felt that the two of them had an innate ability to blend into event to capture those moments that can't be manufactured.

Where to begin! Before we even started looking for photographers, we knew it would be one of- if not the most- important aspects about the wedding for us. We wanted to make sure we chose a team that had an artistic eye and could deliver some really amazing photos. We were excited about candids in particular- not really being as into stiff portraits. We truly could not be more thrilled with our choice of Isa & Shado. We have received so many comments from family and friends that they are the best wedding photos they’ve seen. They captured everything so beautifully, from our First Look on the rocky beach, to sparkler fun with our family at the end of the night, and everything in-between. We got amazing sneak peeks the next day, and I’m still impressed with how quickly we got the rest of our photos. They listened to what we wanted, referred to the shot list I provided (though we were strapped for time as weddings always seem to be), and split their time between 2 locations at no extra charge (our ceremony was at Two Lights state park while our reception was at Oxbow Brewing in downtown Portland). They made us (and our guests) comfortable the whole time. The photos they captured of our dog are our absolute favorites and they really understood how important it was for us to get her in a bunch. All the details we worked so hard on and asked them to capture- the food, signs, cake, decor- all turned out so great. These two are the most seamless team. We hired them because we felt so comfortable around them for our friend's wedding and they were the same with ours. They danced and had fun and were so sweet to each other, but never missed a shot for us. They got everything we wanted and more. The photos are incredible no matter the lighting. They planned every shot out perfectly and you never see the other person in the shot. They were everywhere and nowhere all at once. They knew how to get everyone to feel like family and so we have the best photos ever!! I would have honestly moved my wedding to get them. You don't come across such genuinely good people every day. They're also easy to contact and flexible to work with. -

Absolutely the best!
Isabelle and Shado were absolutely the best. They were excited about my son's wedding from the very first email exchange (I think they said it would be "epic" - and it was!). They were super to work with - we are so pleased with the photos. Shado and Isabelle captured the spirit of the day exactly the way we had all hoped - fun and family and love in a beautiful setting made even more beautiful by the way they photographed everything! All of our guests remarked about how great the photographers were to work with and how much fun they were. They got every shot and were creative but never "invasive". It’s hard to find the words to express my feelings about Isabelle and Shado. If you are looking for the most natural, artistic, authentic, personal, and gorgeous wedding photography that you can possibly find, BOOK THEM IMMEDIATELY! This duo’s calming presence helped to make our wedding day the best day of our lives.
We hired Isabelle and Shado to shoot our engagement photos in NYC and attend and photograph our “night before” event and wedding day in the Catskills. In each case, we received a surprise sneak peek sampling of photos within a couple of days. Less than a month later, we received an organized and generously full album of edited images, each more beautiful than the next.
Isabelle and Shado are true artists who have mastered the ability to capture the most joyous and genuine emotions.
In the months leading up to our engagement shoot and wedding, we spoke with Isabelle and Shado several times. They encouraged us to share shot lists, sample pictures, etc. and were incredibly receptive to our requests. My husband does not love taking pictures, and I shared with them that we didn’t want anything too staged or inorganic, as that’s not our style. They thoroughly understood, gave us gentle guidance, posed us in ways where we looked like the best and most natural version of ourselves, and captured tons of candids, which was very important to us. My husband and I have HUGE smiles in every picture!
We loved our engagement photos so much that we used them to create our wedding guestbook - this was a huge hit!
On our wedding day, between the staged group photos with friends and family, and the candids throughout, Isabelle and Shado captured everyone’s hearts. They handled every single interaction with grace, endless patience, good humor, and, of course, exquisite skill.
We’ve thanked them both multiple times but honestly can’t describe how perfectly they captured our love and celebration.

Shado and Isa are the best photographers ever! They are fun and engaging, and they make the wedding photo process seamless and enjoyable. They were responsive to our requests, professional, and the photos turned out so gorgeous! They had a quick turnaround and sent us tons of beautifully edited photos shortly after our wedding.
After I posted some photos on Instagram of our engagement shoot, which they included in their package, I had a friend tell me that they were the most beautiful and natural engagement photos she had ever seen.
BONUS: Isa is a super talented singer and got up on stage to sing with the band later in the evening at our wedding reception! We love ShadoofaRose and could not recommend them more to anyone looking for a photographer for their wedding or event! -

First of all, how do I give Shado of a Rose Photography more than 5 stars??? It's hard to express in words how amazing both Rose and Shado are -- as people and as photographers. My wife, family, and friends loved them and how passionate they are about their work. Not sure how to capture in words the incredible experience we had with Isa photographing our special day. Starting from the beginning it was clear that Isa prioritizes good and clear communication - she was extremely responsive to questions and made my wife and I feel super comfortable leading up to our wedding day. As for the day itself, MAGICAL! We did a small, intimate gathering but these photos feel so BIG with character and love! Isa swooped-in and efficiently took control - making sure to include everyone while also re-posing everyone so each photo came out uniquely special.
Her skill's are top-notch, for sure, but it's truly Isa's bubbly, engaging and fun personality that took it from being a great experience to truly the best photographing experience we have ever had - and we tend to do quite a bit of photoshoots!

Shado and Isa were absolutely amazing ! From our first phone conversation, I knew I had chosen the right photographers. They were caring, supportive and listened to our every want to make our wedding memorable. They went above and beyond to meet us at our venue to check it out to make sure they were prepared for the day. All my wedding guests loved them and felt so comfortable around them. Even after my wedding, people are still telling me how much they loved them and they brought great energy to our wedding. She was personal and did not make the wedding feel commercialized like many other vendors do. Perfect wedding photography
Isa was super responsive via email and we knew from Shadow of a Rose's website we loved their work. Day of our event Isa was there early and brought amazing energy. She had the perfect balance of ensuring we captured all of the combination of people and all of the moments we wanted to have while also letting the wedding event remain very 'in the moment' for all of us. From the moment Isa showed up it was one of the best experiences of my wedding day. As far as a team, they work incredibly well together. We really appreciated having 2 photographers that way we didn’t have to worry about splitting time between the bride and groom while we got ready. We were very touched by all of Isa and Shado’s attention to details. Isa even took her shoes off so she could tiptoe around the room undetected. Both her and Shado did a great job of capturing the true essence of my husband and I. If my flowers were too low, or my dress wasn’t perfect for the shot they quickly adjusted everything before I had a chance to realize. They were also very good and supportive in making both of us feel comfortable in front of the camera. If you’re looking for someone who will give you all of their attention, do a fantastic job and really is just there for the love of capturing beautiful moments this is the winning team. Truly amazing 🤩
Isa and shado were absolutely incredible! Not only did our pictures come out beautiful but they gave off such great energy and were just amazing people in general! Highly recommend Isa and Shado!!
tl;dr Isa and Shado are talented, professional, and fun photographers, and we highly recommend them!
We were planning 'mini-mony' on relatively short notice after having to postpone our large event due to the pandemic when we found Shado of a Rose online. Isa was always prompt and professional in her communication and flexible and patient when we had to tweak plans. Since we live on the other side of the country, we first met Isa and Shado on our wedding day when we were already getting ready. Isa immediately went to work capturing pictures of all the ladies getting ready. She got so many great candid and lightly posed photos without getting in the way. In the guys' getting ready space, my husband appreciated all of Shado's posing suggestions as well. Even though it was a very bright and windy day on the beach, they both captured the joy and emotion of the ceremony and reception so beautifully, and the photos really speak for themselves. In addition to being incredibly talented photographers, Isa and Shado are also exceptionally fun people. We enjoyed talking with them throughout the day, and our families continue to comment to us about how great they are. Backyard Wedding
Isabelle had taken a picture of me and my now husband a few years ago and I loved it. I saw some other work on Instagram and could easily see that she was talented with a camera. When it was time for my husband and I to tie the knot it was a no-brainer as to who we should trust with capturing memories on such a special day. Even with Covid derailing our original wedding plans Isabelle was very flexible with everything. After the wedding multiple people came to me and said that Isabelle did such a wonderful job and she made sure to capture candid moments which is exactly what I wanted! We booked Isa for our micro-wedding in July 2020. We can’t recommend her enough! She has an extraordinary eye and knew how to perfectly capture the special moments and the small details of the day.
