Jules is truly exceptional, both as a photographer and as a person. From our first meeting, she brought such a positive, calming, and bubbly energy that immediately put us at ease. Nic and I aren’t naturally comfortable in front of the camera, but Jules guided us so effortlessly and made us feel confident and completely ourselves.
She captured our wedding weekend at Chatham Bars Inn beyond anything we could have imagined. Every photo feels intentional, emotional, and timeless, and our gallery was truly a dream come true. Beyond her talent, Jules was such a wonderful presence throughout the entire weekend, supportive, upbeat, and always in the right place at the right time. We would recommend her again and again to any couple looking for someone who not only delivers stunning photos but also elevates the entire wedding experience. -

Jules and the Scarlet Roots team are truly amazing! They say a picture is worth a thousand words and while Jules’ photos demonstrate her incredible skills with a camera, what they don’t fully capture is what the person behind the camera brings to the wedding. Jules brought so much positivity and energy to the day that they made a group of introverts feel like supermodels, completely comfortable in front of the camera. From the moment we first spoke with Jules on the phone we could tell she was just the photographer we needed and although we had high expectations, she blew them out of the water. Kind, communicative, professional, and a true expert with a camera are just a few words to describe Scarlet Roots. While there are lots of photographers that can take great pictures (although not quite as great as Jules if you ask us) what truly separates Jules from other photographers is her personality and the personal touch she provides. From posed pictures, to overhead shots, and perfectly timed candids, Scarlet Roots documented every moment of our wedding day and we’re so grateful to Jules and her team. We cannot recommend Jules/scarlet roots enough! I had the privilege of meeting Jules during my cousins wedding before I even got engaged and instantly knew I would be hiring her down the road. From the very first consultation to the moment we received our final gallery, the experience was absolutely seamless. Professionally, there is nobody I'd trust more with capturing the essence of our day- I'm talking every minuscule authentic moment. Jules delivered a gallery of photos that are natural, timeless, and full of genuine emotion. I couldn't be happier with them.
But more importantly, Jules brought a comfort and overall lightness to the wedding day that can't be matched. From the moment Jules and her team walked into my bridal suite on wedding day I felt a rush of calm and an overpowering trust that everything would be great now that Jules was there. She is personable, comforting, authentic, and bright/bubbly in the most refreshing way.

Jules (Scarlet Roots) was everything and more, truly the best wedding photographer I could have ever wished for. I mean it from the bottom of my heart: she was something out of dreams.
From the very beginning, the planning process with her was seamless. Every meeting left me feeling confident, calm, and completely certain that she understood my vision. As someone who is very picky and a true perfectionist, I was surprised (and relieved!) to find that I could fully let go and trust Jules to work her magic - and she absolutely did.
She went above and beyond her job description in every way. She helped build our timeline, offered insider advice on how the day could flow best, and even helped with details that had nothing to do with photography. When I changed my mind last-minute and wanted a second shooter, she made it happen without any stress.
One thing I deeply appreciated was how committed she was to getting the perfect shot. Whether it meant moving furniture, clearing clutter, or climbing up on something to get the best angle. She did it, without hesitation. Her creativity and determination were incredible to witness.
On the actual day, we could not have asked for a better person to be by our side. Her calming presence, intuition, and positive energy were invaluable. She didn’t just take beautiful photos, she made the whole day feel smoother, more grounded, and more joyful. It felt like having a teammate and a friend who had our backs the entire time.
Now that we’re post-wedding… wow. Her work is beyond amazing. She captured not just how everything looked, but how it all felt...the emotions, the energy, the little in-between moments. We didn’t hire a videographer, so there was extra pressure on the photos to tell the story of our day, and she absolutely delivered. I'm honestly at a loss for words at how happy and grateful we are to have these images.
If you’re still reading this: don’t hesitate. Book Scarlet Roots. Move on. It's one of the best decisions we made, and I’d choose her again a thousand times over. -

Jules is such an incredible photographer AND human being. She was an absolute joy to work with - our entire family and all of our friends loved meeting her and she made the day enjoyable for everyone, even those that are not typically comfortable in front of the camera. Jules was our wedding photographer for our July 2024 wedding in York, Maine at the Viewpoint Hotel. As soon as I interviewed her, I knew I had to choose her. She has a warm and vibrant personality that makes you feel extremely special and well taken care of. I honestly looked to Jules for more than just photography, she was there to guide me through creating a wedding timeline and provided fabulous recommendations on other vendors for our wedding day, as well. She advised me to put all our "details" items in separate clear containers for the "details" shots, which was extremely helpful in keeping organized, as well. She truly is the full package. If you decide to hire Jules (which you should), listen to her! I wish we had extended our photography coverage looking back on it, which she had advised us on prior. Jules also works with different levels of budgets - from high profile NHL players to those a bit more cost-conscious, like myself - and makes each client feel extremely important. On the day of our wedding, she was extremely professional and committed - for example, I distinctly remember her climbing up on large stone rocks and balancing to capture our large family group shot. She is a true empath and feels/notices energy in the room. She checked in on me whenever she felt a shift in my energy, to make sure I felt my happiest. Lastly, Jules works very efficiently. We received our "preview" edited pictures within 1 week of our wedding! And the preview included a TON of pictures. We received the rest of the pictures back within the month of our wedding - something I found unique to other photographers in the industry. Needless to say, I would recommend Jules again and again. -

We had the pleasure of being able to work with Jules on two occasions, our engagement shoot and the big wedding day! On both days Jules brought incredible energy and vibes, making both shoots a truly joyful process. The engagement shoot captured everything we were about and was the perfect media for all our save the dates, invites, and website backdrops. On the day of the wedding Jules and her second photographer, Jose ,were efficient and professional. They captured brilliant shots in every arrangement you could want and still bought us extra time to get out there and party longer on our big day. My Fiancé and I had the immense pleasure of having Jules as our photographer for our engagement party, and it was nothing short of a fantastic experience.
From the moment we met Jules (and her team of 2 other wonderful photographers), her vibrant and fun attitude was contagious. She was not just a photographer hired for the event, but quickly became part of our celebration. Her ability to blend in and capture candid moments was impeccable. The photos she delivered were not only abundant in quantity but also incredible - Jules made sure to capture all of our family and closest friends in our album and she somehow got photos of EVERYONE, too (around 400 guests!).
On top of being such a pleasure to work with and delivering such amazing photos, I HAVE to mention that Jules went above and beyond by coming to our afterparty, which was not expected of her by any means. It's rare to find someone like Jules - her dedication to capturing every aspect of our celebration was evident.
To say Jules over-delivered would be an understatement. The pictures were delivered promptly, each one a testament to her skill and attention to detail. They are memories we will treasure forever, captured beautifully thanks to Jules' incredible talent.

Jules was our photographer for our September 2022 Boston Public Library wedding and she was FANTASTIC! Her energy and professionalism was great both when we were planning and onsite. Jules is the absolute best! From the moment I found her featured on a Brides.com article, which was my wedding planning Bible, I knew I had to work with her. We inquired on her beautiful and informative website and got in touch with her in no time. From the first consultation to the delivery of our full wedding gallery (which was an amazing surprise because it came way sooner than expected), we were blown away with how kind and passionate Jules is about her work and the people she works with! She’s the ultimate hype woman, your instant bff, and the best person to have with you on the best day ever!
Jules made my husband and I, two people who can be a bit awkward in front of a camera feel so comfortable, relax and just focus on each other. Our first adventure together was our engagement photo session in Beacon Hill and BPG. She knew all the great spots and really helped us have fun with it. We were even able to include our dogs in some photos! Then on the day of the wedding, the second Jules arrived in the bridal suite the energy lifted. Photos of me and my husband, family portraits, and with the wedding party never felt daunting. They were quick and easy! We spent 10 fun and effortless hours with Jules. She really felt like another friend at our wedding! She was so kind to all of our family and friends and everyone loved her too!
Aside from Jules’ kindness, energy, and talent, her professionalism is top notch. We felt completely taken care of from the moment we signed Jules on to our wedding team! She even provided suggestions for other vendors, which I found extremely helpful. I put my full trust in her! She worked so well with my wedding coordinator and other vendors too. She also worked with us to make sure we had enough time with her on our day so we wouldn’t feel rushed. We are so thankful we were able to add on time from what we originally booked. Some of our favorite photos are the sunset photos while having a moment to ourselves during the reception. Jules was incredibly accommodating, kind, an expert at her craft, and just, like I said before, the best!
We will be forever grateful to Jules for being a part of our big day and the journey leading up to it! -

Hiring Jules was far-and-away the best wedding decision we could've made. She was actually the first vendor we booked after booking our venue because we could not let her get booked up with someone else! I found her by looking through photos of #capecodweddingphotographer on Instagram and EVERY.SINGLE.PHOTO I clicked that I loved was Jules'! We booked her for both our engagement photos and wedding photos. For our engagement shoot, she made us both feel so comfortable right from the start (especially since neither of us have much posing experience). It honestly felt like we were just hanging with a friend. For our wedding, she made me feel totally relaxed and at ease and was just so easy to work with. Her bubbly-yet-chill presence was such a gift on such a chaotic day. Not to mention, her pictures are truly art. I'm just sad our wedding is over so we don't have a reason to hire her again! -

Amazing engagement session
I've been low key stalking Jules on IG for a few years. When we (finally) got engaged my fiancé immediately asked if we were going to get photos taken by Scarlet Roots. Jules, Jules, freaking JULES! Gah I love this human. Besides being just the most wonderful person she is a super talented photographer. As I'm sure everyone says, me and my now husband aren't the photo taking type. We are both super awkward about it, so naturally we were nervous for a full shoot. Jules made us feel so comfortable, maybe too comfortable as we considered contacting modeling agencies after our engagement shoot lol! She just does such a great job of making you feel like you are killing it, how could you not start to exude beautiful confidence! If there is one place to spend your money, I say spend it on photography and spend it on someone who will make you want to crack open that album every. single. day. Hiring Jules was one of the first and best decisions we made in planning our wedding! She was at the very top of our list, and we were so lucky to get to work with her even after a COVID reschedule. We were immediately drawn to her work and how she makes everything look so naturally stunning, but as a very camera-shy person who was super nervous about the whole idea of wedding photography, what really sealed the deal for me was Jules's warm, confident, and joyful approach to the entire process. Every interaction we had leading up (including our super fun engagement shoot) was an absolute pleasure and put my mind at ease, and during our wedding day, her endlessly bubbly presence combined with her professionalism and experience was everything we could have dreamed of. Jules is a 10/10! She is a superstar photographer, and was a joy to plan with prior to the big day, as well as a wonderfully positive energy our wedding day. From our initial conversation 18 months prior to my wedding, to engagement photos, to last minute changes and planning — Jules was there as not only our photographer, but also a wedding expert!
Once we got our wedding gallery (early, I might add!), we cried tears of joy seeing how Jules perfectly captured special moments that seemed to happen in the blink of an eye, but are now preserved forever. This review won’t ever be enough to match our gratitude for Jules. My husband, Dylan, and I came across Jules’ work in 2018 and were thrilled to book her for our 2020 wedding. Two months before the big day, COVID hit. Our dream wedding was quickly squashed, but we were determined to still have Jules as our photographer. She made our new date work and went above and beyond to be at our 2021 wedding. You read that correctly. Jules stuck by us through this process for nearly three years. Her kindness and comfort during such a trying time did not go unnoticed. She checked in, genuinely cared, and offered candid advice to help us through. Weekend of, 30 of us traveled to Nantucket for our micro wedding. We were warned of gale force winds and cancelled ferries on the big day. What did Jules do? She took hours out of her private time, the day before, to get us some sunny shots before the weather rolled in. Her thoughtfulness and willingness to role with the punches are rare qualities these days…but Jules truly exudes both. She was able to get us out of our shells and kept us in the moment. Most people look back on the wedding and remember the party. For me, I will always remember taking pictures the day before my wedding. The three of us had so much fun and were stress-free for the first time in this entire process. We laughed, danced, and we’re entirely carefree. I attribute this entirely to who Jules is. Her kindness, bubbly personality, and down-to-earth nature make her an unparalleled partner for any event. She was the brightest spot in our wedding process, without a doubt! I would urge anyone to book Jules. After working for a wedding planner for years, I can honestly say, you won’t find another like her! -

We met with her virtually to go over the timeline and she sent us a document outlining the event which relieved a lot of my stress. On the day she did a great job of naturally getting us to pose and has a great eye for picturesque photos. We received a sneak peak of several photos within a week of our wedding and all the photos within a month. Jules is my first pick for photos in the future and I would recommend her to anyone :) -

There are not enough words to describe how amazing Jules is, but I'm definitely going to try to describe it with this review. :) Shortly after we were engaged, we saw her work in a Boston Weddings magazine and knew immediately that she was the photographer for us. From our engagement session to our wedding day, she was an absolute ray of sunshine and made my husband and I feel so comfortable being in front of the camera. We planned the majority of our wedding during the pandemic, and Jules was always there to answer all of my anxiety-induced questions with kindness and compassion. Her questionnaires are super thoughtful and ensure that she captures the special moments in the most authentic light. On our wedding day, the unthinkable happened and my father suffered a medical emergency, preventing him from joining us for the ceremony at our venue. Jules did not hesitate for a second when the hospital administration offered to have our ceremony in their courtyard. She joined us at the hospital and worked with our videographer and officiant to capture the most amazing photos of an absolutely unforgettable day. Even through the chaos, she captured those traditional photos of all the details we spent so long planning. We will cherish these photos forever. -

The absolute best decision I made for my wedding. My husband and I were married during the pandemic and, like most couples during this time, we had to make sacrifices in many areas of celebration. Our photographer was the ONE place that I refused to compromise. Jules was the perfect choice for our ceremony. Even during the pandemic she communicated with us really well and made sure that we were on the same page for the big day. On that day she was so kind and wonderful (which won't be a surprise if you've ever spoken with her for more than ten seconds). She made sure to capture all the shots I wanted and talk us through how to pose (yes, that's important, believe me!) but she also sat back and allowed us time to take cellphone photos with our friends and family without seeming irritated or like we were wasting her time. The photos came back in LESS. THAN. A. WEEK... obviously that isn't always the case but it really showed that she cares about you even after the event is over and the bill is paid. The photos were absolutely stunning but I had an inner strap sticking out in some of the photos, when I sent Jules a follow up email asking if she could edit it out she edited them all the SAME DAY. During an incredibly difficult year, the client focus that Jules provided really showed that human connection and human kindness is still out there. All that to say... HIRE JULES - you will receive the most incredible experience brought to you by the kindest human. -

Jules is such a GEM! We had met years ago on a photoshoot of a mutual friend and I had been following along with her career since. She is so talented, professional, and also has one of the most sparkly personalities out there. My wedding was unfortunately impacted by COVID, and when we were looking for someone to take a few photos of us to commemorate the original weekend, I knew it had to be Jules! She met us at one of our favorite spots in NH, and we hiked up a small mountain to have the shoot at the top. The photos and entire experience was magical, and a bright point during a tough year. I don’t know where to begin when it comes to speaking about how FABULOUS Jules is. Jules and I grew up in the same home town and although we never went to the same school or hung out, we had some similar friends. I had seen her work prior to my engagement and when we got engaged she was the first (and only) photographer I called. We knew she took beautiful pictures but her positive and bubbly personality was what sealed the deal. From the start, I knew Jules would make our wedding photos beautiful. We took our engagement photos with her one year before our scheduled July 2020 wedding and my fiancé and I were a little nervous about the entire thing. After all, we are not models. However, the shoot was SO FUN (even my fiancé enjoyed himself). Jules made us feel so comfortable and even found some great spots to shoot at the location we picked out that I had never thought of. The pictures were GORGOUS and were delivered to us very quickly after our session. I have found any excuse I can to repost the pictures on my Instagram page because I love them so much. We can’t say enough good things about our experience with Jules. Seriously. First, all our pre-wedding communication was great - Jules made us feel supported and special in every interaction. We did our engagement photos in downtown Boston and on the Esplanade, which I highly recommend if you can do it because it gave us time to get to know Jules and for her to know our style and preferences before the wedding day (not to mention the photos are stunning!) On the big day, Jules was just an absolute pro in managing our stress, the timelines, and our giant families. She is so joyful and positive and just made us feel like we were the most special people - there’s no one I would’ve rather spent the day with. She was also efficient in taking photos, which is a huge blessing so we could enjoy the day. Most importantly, her photos are SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I have never felt more beautiful than in the photos she captured. She got all of the important moments and knew what we would treasure afterwards. Ahh what can I say about Jules other than that she’s the perfect photographer and you need to go hire her ASAP?! But seriously, I mean it. I found Jules through a stroke of luck – I was looking up Hartford city hall to see what it looked like and stumbled upon her website and a recent wedding she had done there. My gosh was it stunning! After that I stalked her Instagram as all millennial brides do and fell in love with her aesthetic. Her photos are gorgeous – lots of candid shots that feel very authentic, beautiful lighting, moody but not overly processed, and timeless. I knew immediately that we had to talk to her. Jules was extremely responsive, and we set up a phone call soon after. She has an infectious enthusiasm and positivity and after our call I was convinced that we needed her as our photographer – so much so that we picked our wedding date based on her availability!!! She did a phenomenal job with our engagement shoot and wedding pics. She is a BOSS so while she was chirpy and fun to be around, she also kept us to time, had a detailed schedule, and even handled random fiascos like my father in law struggling to put the boutonniere on my husband! If you’re looking for someone professional but also someone who brings great energy and reminds you that this can be a STRESS-FREE day, then Jules is your gal! -

Where to even begin? Jules is honestly the best of the best, I wish I could give her ten stars. From the very beginning and throughout the process Jules was in constant communication, had the best energy, was professional, patient with me as I tried to make decisions, and was overall always on top of her game. Her photography skills are out of this world and she somehow managed to capture exactly who we are as a couple and our personalities. We got all of our wedding pictures in just the other day and WOW! I have no idea how we are going to select just a few for our wedding album. They are all truly amazing! Our families, our wedding parties, and our friends couldn’t say enough good things about her and our pictures. Her energy especially on the dance floor was amazing. Picture perfect
My husband and I scoured through hundreds of wedding photographers and were immediately drawn to the bright, relaxed and crisp images of every wedding Jules photographed. She was our first choice, and we were SO glad to have picked her. Not only did our engagement photos and wedding photos come out even better than ever imagined (seriously, we have received so many complements!) , but Jules has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Right off the bat, all communications were prompt and clear. She was extremely detail oriented creating our timeline, and even came to our wedding a few hours early. Julianne has done several shoots for my family - we love her work so much so that we 'gave' her services to a friend to photograph her son's baptism!
