This was the catering company that came with Great Marsh Estate, so I can't say we had a lot of choice in who our caterer would be but they still went above and beyond. The staff here was incredible and the food and service both went beyond our expectations.
Those mini beef wellingtons will forever live in my head rent free -

One and done
Our wedding planner recommended Serendipity right out of our wedding planning gate as a “one and done” recommendation for catering, and boy was she right!
Serendipity made planning our food, bar, and table settings/decor so simple and fun! We had the best time at our tasting at their Great Marsh estate (their home base and own linked venue), where they had not only the dishes we had interested prepared but also had pulled the table cloth and table settings we were interested in too. We had the most generous tasting and then got to play around with making up a table setting and then somehow all in one day we had the menu and table settings from table cloth to fork and knife all picked out and planned. It was incredible to not have to rely on separate vendors for all of that.
And for the amazing convenience, no element lacked in quality at all! The food was all absolutely delicious!! We wish they had a restaurant so we could go back and eat it anytime! And they were so flexible and creative with us to make our vision a reality! When we liked the flavor of one dish and the meat cut of another, they even custom designed one of our main dishes incorporating those elements, checking with the chef right then and there to make sure it would work well.
We were looking for a Salvadorean-American fusion, and boy they delivered! They knew how to execute Salvadorean food culture SO well, custom making a plantain fritter hors d'oeuvre for us and also proposing a pupusa stand for a late night snack…. And those were the best and most fresh pupusas we’ve ever had in the US! Wow.
They executed complex custom cocktails for us with no problem, even including edible flowers at our request. We went with their cake services too, wanting a no-frills cake- and their flavors were incredible (get the almond buttercream!) and even the look of our cutting cake was just lovely with some delicate detail.
Service the day of was seamless and the food was just as delicious as the tasting. They even boxed up leftovers for us to enjoy the next day which we were so happy to enjoy (because eating the day of really does just fly by)!
I could keep gushing. Book Serendipity’s catering, no hesitation. -

Serendipity catered both our wedding at The Refinery and our rehearsal dinner at Seven on Davis in Culpeper, VA. From the very beginning, their team was clear, organized, and professional, which made the planning process seamless.
For our reception, we selected the short ribs, harvest chicken, and a vegan pasta dish. Each entrée was excellent — beautifully plated, flavorful, and well received by all of our guests. The catering team also handled our unique reception layout with ease and flexibility, ensuring service ran smoothly throughout the evening.
We appreciated Serendipity’s attention to detail and commitment to quality at every stage. Their professionalism and execution helped make our wedding weekend truly memorable. Highly recommend. -

I would absolutely recommend this catering company for your wedding. Although they are a bit more on the pricey side, their food and service are excellent. Our wedding guests could not stop raving about the food (especially their bread and butter). They constantly made sure my husband and I were well fed throughout the night and were very easy to work with. -

We had our wedding catered by Serendipity and we could not be any happier with the quality of the food and the spectacular Serendipity team. We wanted to have Korean/Chinese inspired cuisine, so the Serendipity staff was more than accommodating in our request to customize our menu. They nailed the vision we had for appetizers and dinner and we received many compliments on the food from our guests. It made a world of a difference to have an accessible, patient, and hard working staff - it really showed not only in our planning process as we curated and tasted our menu, but also the incredible execution on the wedding day. In April 2025, Serendipity Catering & Design catered my daughter’s wedding reception at Rixey Manor, Rixeyville, WA. Working across three different time zones – my daughter stationed in Italy and then Japan, myself in San Diego, and the wedding in Rixeyville, VA- Serendipity came through will professional etiquette, style and efficiency. We relied on some bridesmaids to complete the menu testing, and Serendipity accommodated their work schedules. They offered a good selection of appetizers, side dishes and main entrees, in addition to catering to food allergies. And when the catering staff set up at Rixey Manor, there was 100% efficiency, order and attention-to-detail. We requested specific linen, silverware, dishes and glassware. The tables and food layout looked amazing, and throughout the evening, the venue operated smoothly. My responsibilities were to mingle with guests and family, and have fun too. Serendipity staff worked in the background providing excellent service. Thank you, Krystal, for your professionalism and efficiency, and please let your staff know they did a wonderful job. At first, we weren't sure how it would go as we didn't have a choice with our venue selection, but we were incredibly happy with their food quality, responsiveness, organization, and staff. Highly recommend Serendipity to everyone!! The staff is incredible and so caring! They made sure my husband and I were cared for always. They pay attention to the little things. They came in the bridal suite and asked what we wanted from our charcuterie board (after already providing us 2 of each appetizer). My husband made his request and they brought back plenty which was so nice of them! I can go on forever about the staff and the owner, they are just incredible!!!! Of course the food was absolutely amazing and delicious! The guests raved about the food! -

Our wedding was 6/26/2022 during covid time and they were always up to date and arranged our food that was served to be prepared. We had a wonderful time at the tasting with the team and they did not miss anything! The end results were beautiful, delicious, and professional. The table arrangements and options were elegant in our rustic setting. The food from the starters to entree to dessert to coffee, everything was great. The staff that served the food was prompt and assisted the guests perfectly with no altercations. The bar staff made the drinks without over pouring, but still gave guest a nice buzz. The staff both internal and guest facing were wonderful! The staff worked very well together and it showed during the wedding. I loves that my staff, food, cake and desserts, linens, hardware, and glassware were all included! It really made things easier for us! Overall it was a great event with great food and great bar tenders! They also had to deal with a rain plan and they did not miss a step! They were referred by my planner and I see why she worked with them! Their food was so unique and delicious! Food was a top priority for our wedding and they definitely blew past our expectations. Our wedding was just like something you sew featured in a magazine! I highly recommend getting all their services they offer for your wedding to make everything as smooth as possible. -

Wonderful Catering and Event Service!
Serendipity Catering was a wonderful choice for our November 2023 wedding! They had a wonderful set up for the tasting, we got to try different entrees and sides. And even though we used a different service for dessert they even had some of their desserts to taste for enjoyment as well. They had a great showroom of their different rental options for linens, flatware, and glassware as well so you could get a preview of how your tables would look. The day of the wedding, they arrived on time. The staff was wonderful and attentive. We even had guests comment the bar tenders remembered their drinks when they went back up to the bar throughout the evening. Our point of contact Krystal was a great communicator and was very flexible with and edits or changes we had. Only down comment would be some of the food was slightly room temperature to cold when served but we are not sure if this is really the fault of the catering as our venue did not have a commercial kitchen so Serendipity had to cook and keep food warm by other means. Overall great experience with the food and event rental services by Serendipity! -

Serendipity Catering & Design truly exceeded all expectations! The food was exceptional, and our guests couldn't stop raving about the delicious dishes served during both the cocktail hour and the reception. The bartender service was top-notch, and they even nailed our signature cocktail recipes perfectly. To top it off, the wedding cake they created was not only delicious but also beautifully designed. Krystal and her team made sure everything we needed for our day was taken care of and I couldn’t have asked for a better group!! A huge thank you for making our wedding day truly unforgettable! -

Serendipity provided catering and rentals for our November 2022 wedding at Morais Vineyards & Winery. Krystal was so communicative and detailed throughout the entire planning process. She answered my millions of questions and she and her team made sure everything went smoothly the day of the event. Several guests and I have dietary restrictions (gluten free; vegan) and Serendipity was very accommodating and handled these very delicately. On the day of the event, everything was set up beautifully and we received so many compliments about how delicious the wedding food was! -

Choosing Serendipity was one of our best wedding decisions. They were amazing to work with from the beginning, were incredibly flexible when we had to postpone for COVID and delivered the best service on our wedding day. We had champagne passed immediately after our ceremony, passed and stationed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, plated dinner, late night snack and open bar for the entirety of the event. The staffed delivered on every aspect, impecably. Our guests raved about their service and presentation. Truly the most friendly and professional staff most people had encountered at a wedding. If you want to take some stress out of planning, hire Serendipity for your bar and catering services. They will make magic happen for you and deliver one of the most important aspects of you wedding: great food and great drinks with style. -

Serendipity Catering is amazing!! The food at our wedding was amazing and we received so many compliments from our guests. Serendipity also made the desserts for our dessert bar and they were also amazing! The service was on our wedding day could not have gone any smoother and I really appreciated how the wait staff made sure that my husband and I were able to try all of the hors d'oeuvres, our signature drinks, and the desserts at the dessert bar. Amazing Caterer!!
Serendipity Catering was amazing!!! Taylor was so so easy to communicate with and made sure our order was perfect. All of our guests were talking about how amazing the food was. Thank you so much to the team at Serendipity for making our special day so wonderful.
For the day of, the banquet team was awesome, in particular Javier, who made my husband feel incredibly taken care of and supported (even when he wasn't quite sure of all the answers!).
Working with Krystal as our catering manager was an absolute dream as well. She was gracious, understanding, and prompt, making me extremely confident in her managing our event. She even had wonderful suggestions for best practices, as we did decide to move forward with a micro-wedding during the pandemic. Her recommendations for the menu were spot on, and were so well-thought-out in regards to our wedding party having quite a few allergies. She also was instrumental in helping us pick out our linens, glassware, and china, which was such a nice thing to not have to worry about coordinating with another company (and they were stunning to boot).
The food was phenomenal, the banquet team was a perfect balancing act of giving support but not being intrusive, and it made our big day that much better. Thank you again so much to Serendipity for all your hard work and giving us the help we needed to be able to sit back and enjoy our day. -

As we went around the tables to say hello to everyone almost everyone mentioned how great the food was! And when we finally got around to eating our food, which the staff plated, kept warm and cleared quickly for us, it was truly amazing!
All the workers were very professional, on time and had everything ready to go on the day! During the planning part, they did an excellent job communicating with me and doing everything to my exact requests. They are also so kind and will do there best to make your day flawless. -

Holly Sent on 09/13/2018All the reviews about the quality of the food at Savory Fare are correct!! We just had our daughter's wedding at Great Marsh Estate and Savory Fare catered the event! The anti pasta display was beautiful as well as the passed hors d'oeuvres. The bride and groom chose fresh, colorful ingredients such as the Balsamic Marinated Mango Grilled chicken. Many people have told us how tender and wonderful the chicken was (all the food) as well as the London Broil in Au Jus & Mushroom caps. All the ingredients in the salad; spinach, sliced pears, feta cheese, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, red onions & Champagne vinaigrette were delicious! My mom was amazed how they perfectly prepared the roasted vegetables of broccoli, yellow squash, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini and red peppers! Jennifer was very flexible in making the menu exactly as we wanted. Mary, the team captain and all the staff were very professional and ready to do whatever was needed. Their set up of the Pittsburgh cookie table was perfect!! I would highly recommend Savory Fare and after your tasting with them, you will agree they will provide hors d'oeuvres and dinner that your guests will enjoy and remember!

Not only was the food served hot and delicious (um, hello? the bacon was even crispy!!), it was also set up beautifully! Such a wonderful presentation, and the service was even better. Jennifer was so helpful all the way up to the event in answering all my questions, making helpful suggestions, and working with our budget and dietary needs. Our venue owner said even the amount of food they provided was perfect - we didn't run out early, and weren't left with a ridiculous amount of leftovers. Loved working with Savory Fare and would certainly recommend them to others! -

I had made sooo many revisions to our menu and the team at Savory Fare was wonderful about it. Our day of coordinator disappeared on our wedding day and Jennifer's team stepped up! Everything ran incredibly smoothly. Not only did they help coordinate a surprise from the bride's parents, they also even got us a wedding present! The whole process of choosing our food and tasting was amazing. Jessica helped us create the best menu we could imagine & our wedding guests loved it. Even the most picky eaters ate all of their food. It was so great to see our family and friends enjoy this food. From the small pupusas (yes I know! They make Spanish food!) to the main course, we were treated to a great experience. The staff was so professional & it was so great to see they enjoyed being there too.
Jessica also helped us create the look of our wedding from plates & cups to linens & napkins. We would highly recommend anyone getting married to look up Serendipity. Thank you once again Jessica & everyone who was involved from this amazing company for giving our wedding party an amazing & beautiful dining experience. -

We worked with Taylor for over a year. She was seriously so fantastic, quick to email back, and was with us each step of the way. Every guest at the wedding would not stop talking about how great the food was along with the late snack! The plating was just as equally beautiful as the how great the food tasted. The staff the day of the wedding were amazing! They were so helpful with guests and handled the bar, signature drinks, and walking around with appetizers. They even assisted with putting items in our parents’ vehicles at the end of the night. This day would not have been complete without their fantastic staff! We could not say enough great things about them! -
