We could not have been happier with choosing Ryan as our wedding photographer. He was warm, professional, and extremely responsive from day one. We were nervous on our wedding day, but he made us feel completely comfortable and cared for. Our photos turned out better than we could have even imagined. Wedding photography was our number one priority when planning our wedding. We knew that the day would go by in a blur, so we were really focused on finding a good photographer. Ryan fit the bill and then some. Please do yourself a favor and book Ryan for your wedding. -

Queer-Affirming, Talented, and an Absolute Dream
My wife and I are pretty camera-shy, but having beautiful photos of our wedding day was really important to us. From the very beginning, Ryan made the entire experience feel easy, natural, and genuinely joyful. His photography is absolutely gorgeous, but just as importantly, he is an absolute dream to work with.
Ryan is kind, warm, calm, and incredibly flexible throughout the planning process. He immediately put us at ease and truly got our vibe as queer weirdos, which made such a difference in how comfortable and seen we felt. On the day of the wedding, he worked his butt off — wrangling our large family with grace and humor, keeping things moving, and somehow still finding quiet, intimate moments for us. He even carved out time during the reception for a golden hour romantic shoot, which felt magical.
The photos themselves are stunning and capture not just how the day looked, but how it felt. They perfectly reflect the spirit of our wedding and the love we share. I have had the pleasure of working with Ryan professionally over the last few years, and when it came to my wedding, I knew that I wanted to work with Ryan. No words can truly express how grateful we are for Ryan’s ability to capture our multi-day wedding weekend with such care and craft. Our situation was unique since we had a very early 9am City Hall small family ceremony and a bigger party at our favorite restaurant the next day, yet Ryan was very flexible and created a package that worked for our two-day celebration. Not only were the final pictures visually stunning and unique, impressing all of our family and friends, but Ryan was truly able to capture both the big and small moments in a way we will cherish forever. We had never been photographed before as a couple and Ryan had two prep calls with us before the wedding weekend to get to know us and put us at ease, and was super clear at communicating throughout the whole process. Would highly recommend and can’t wait for a future opportunity to use Ryan again! -

I truly could not recommend Ryan more, and will be working with him for any future photography needs! I found Ryan before I even booked a wedding venue, I could tell our visions were aligned and that he would capture the energy. That is an understatement -- Ryan created pure magic with soft and lovely colors and lighting, and made everyone feel so comfortable and easeful. It felt like instant friendship, and the whole process was a joy. Not only did he capture our wedding and family in such a loving and beautiful way, but also our friends! Absolutely Stunning!
Long overdue review!! Hiring Ryan for our wedding was the absolute best decision we made throughout the entire planning process. Not only are his photos incredible, but he was so easy to work with and made us feel so relaxed on such a chaotic day. We are still in awe of his skill, being able to get the exact right moments with perfect lighting and make everyone look like the best versions of themselves, while still feeling so genuine. We also appreciated his approach of guiding certain shots but not making anything too staged, which led to some amazing candid shots. We will cherish our photos for all the years to come and are so happy we chose to trust Ryan as our photographer on this big day. -

An artist, a professional, and an all-around joy
Ryan was an amazing photographer and an incredible person to work with from our first phone call to our final photo album. He cared about understanding what was important to each of us about our wedding, and captured those moments beautifully.
On the day of the wedding, Ryan brought a lovely energy, brightening the mood around him while never getting in the way or drawing attention away from the ceremonies and festivities. When we met up with Ryan for a day after shoot we were pretty tired, but the hours we had booked with Ryan flew by as he kept us chatting and exploring some jaw-dropping places. It felt like a delightful time with an old friend and it was one of our favorite parts of our whole wedding experience.
And that’s all before we got to see his pictures! Ryan’s photographs from our wedding are full of life and magic and beauty. He is a gifted photographer who plays with lots of styles to fit the moment he’s capturing. Exquisite elegance, raw joy, warmth and love, color and definition. There are many things to say about Ryan but I will keep it somewhat short and sweet. Although I haven’t previously worked with a wedding photographer before, I can say that Ryan is top of the line and the best of the best. Ryan not only has a gift in capturing the perfect, beautiful and grand moments but he has an eye for capturing the little details that are easily overlooked but are very meaningful. Not only are the photos impeccable, Ryan as a human is brilliant. He made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. He didn’t feel like an addition to the wedding day but like being around an old friend. He is professional, responsive any time we had questions, thorough, creative, handles time management well, and just all around a super person. There are not enough kind words to describe Ryan and his amazing talent. You will not be disappointed in hiring him. He is very thorough and took into account all our wants and visions we had in capturing our big day and exceeded them times a million. Obsessed with our photos
We are absolutely obsessed with our wedding photos. I was going through them again today and find new favorites every time I look at them. Our photos are stunning, and Ryan captured the spirit and emotion of the day perfectly. Ryan is very professional and easy to work with – he also made me feel incredibly comfortable when taking our portraits and I didn’t feel overly posed or awkward (which I was worried about because I am not photogenic). We also had a second shooter and the guys all loved working with her (Molly). I never thought I could have so much fun taking pictures. He went above and beyond and delivered a preview of photos quickly – and provided us with way more total photos than we were expecting! And I think one of my favorite things about Ryan is his love and inclusion of all people. I would love to have him photograph us again – and definitely recommend him. -

Flawless wedding photos
My husband and I had a specific style we were looking for, and found several in the Carmel area who fit our vision. While they were all nice and talented, Ryan just stood out to us for a number of reasons. Right away he was genuinely friendly, asking us about ourselves, our wedding and sharing a bit about his life.
We noticed his range of photography includes very intimate and personal moments, which signaled to us his ability to disarm his subjects and also make them feel very comfortable. This was important to us as my husband and I don’t like to be in the spotlight.
Our wedding was the same day as the Big Sur Marathon, which threw a wrench in the arrival of our wedding party and vendors. Ryan went out of his way to get to the area before the road closed, hours before we were scheduled to begin. He even arrived at the bridal changing room early to ensure he wouldn’t miss any big moments, and stayed later than our scheduled time to capture our cake cutting.
Ryan made sure we stayed on time with our schedule and got all the photos we wanted. When we ran into some snags or had to wrangle family members for portraits, he was patient and calm. He also warmly accepted our friend’s partner who is a professional photographer and wanted to shoot the ceremony too.
Many of our guests commented afterward about how helpful and kind Ryan was, and we would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer in the future.

Some of the best wedding planning advice I got was, "a good photographer can make a simple wedding look amazing and a bad photgrapher can make an expensive wedding look cheap." Let's just say that Ryan made our wedding look majestic.
Ryan exudes, talent, professionalism and just fun to work with. Every image he makes is a work of art. He delivered our photos on time. And had us laughing throughout our wedding day.
He even offered to step-in when my sister (aka Day of Coordinator) couldn't fly in for the wedding because she had emergency ankle surgery. That really meant ALOT to me. Especially because we got married in April 2021 and only had 16 guests due to the pandemic. Honestly, this barely scratches the surface of how much we loved working with Ryan. I really can't recommend him enough. Hire Ryan. you won't regret it. -

Exceeded expectations
We were so happy to have Ryan be apart of our wedding day while of course capturing every amazing moment. From the beginning he was so easy to work with, great communication and so helpful. We had a wedding of around 25 people in Big Sur and I had no idea what I was doing. He got to know us and what we were looking for and he gave great tips on places he knew about, he knows the area well, and was easy going which helped me relax during all the crazy planning. The day of the wedding he was very professional but also got along great with everyone. He kept everyone laughing including us, thank god because we’re so awkward when it comes to photo sessions. He had great spots for photos and had a great balance of edgy/creative shots while still sneaking some of the traditional stuff. He has a great eye for lighting, poses and doesn’t over edit his photos which was something I was having trouble finding when on the hunt for a photographer. We even had a few bumps through out the day and he was kind enough to jump in and help out, and also adapt to our changing schedule. I can’t have anyone mention my wedding, whether they were a guest or not, and not say how amazing my photographer was. Every time we’ve received photos we’re blown away. Thank you for everything Ryan and hope we meet again soon! -

Incredibly photographer – even better person
Where can I even begin? Ryan is a fabulous photographer, with a huge heart and soul. We booked Ryan for our engagement and wedding photos after having a lovely first conversation with him. In that first phone call, he wanted to get to know mine and my (now) husbands story, our vision for the engagement shoot as well as our (early) thoughts on what we were thinking for our wedding (planned for May 2020). The engagement photos went off without a hitch in October 2019, but as we all know, 2020 didn't go as planned.
We pushed our wedding out twice, with three separate dates in total. From the beginning of the pandemic, Ryan was kind, responsive, and easy to work with in adjusting plans. Finally, in July 2021, we were able to have our big celebration at Triple S Ranch in Calistoga, CA. Ryan showed up excited, ready to go and never once complained about the 105* heat (yes, it was literally that hot). Ryan brought along a second shooter (who was also lovely) and together were able to capture our entire day with photos that are more artistic (a bit less conventional than typical wedding photographers). Ryan's a true artist and not only did he capture all the regular wedding photos (family, bridal party, portraits) but he also carved out time to take some more scenery photos that captured the venue/vibe as well as ensured we got amazing twilight photos.
Overall, I couldn't recommend Ryan more. Book him! -

Ryan makes you feel like a star
We discovered Ryan via Instagram and instantly fell in love with his aesthetic and ability to capture a couple's essence. We were anxious and nervous because we had never been photographed. Ryan instantly made those feelings dissipate. He reels you back into the moment with his warm demeanor and inquisitive mind. My wife and I cannot say enough positive things about our experience working with Ryan during our wedding weekend. Ryan is a spectacular photographer, which is evident to anyone who takes a look at his work on instagram or his website. He is creative and has a special eye for beauty, composition, and light. What you don’t appreciate from his portfolio is the amazing human Ryan is. Ryan is professional, kind, down to earth, funny, and an incredible energy to be around. This is surely one of the many reasons he is able to take the amazing photographs he does! The moments we briefly escaped our wedding to take photos with Ryan were some of the most memorable of our wedding weekend, moments when we were able to slow down, focus on the moment and each other without distraction. My wife and I are not natural models and we had never had anyone photograph us, but Ryan made us feel sexy and comfortable in our own skin, he made us laugh when we felt awkward, and went along with a few out of the box ideas we had and totally rocked them! Our photos are spectacular. Anyone would be lucky to work with Ryan.

Amazing in every way!
Working with Ryan is hands down the best decision we’ve made in wedding planning! After COVID threw off our first plans we started thinking about “eloping” (with a few close family members) and through a little googling around found Ryan and instantly fell in love with his work. We’d chatted with a few other photographers but we immediately clicked with Ryan-his vision for a calm, easy going and very intentional day in nature aligned with our own. We were pretty far along in the planning process with tons of help from him with location spotting, timeline creation, and even dress advice when new restrictions forced us to postpone again. I can’t over emphasize how easy it was to work with Ryan during this. We were so stressed out and he repeatedly brought us back to what was important to us (being able to focus on our love and our families joining together on our day) while also being incredibly flexible. He always had little nuggets of wisdom to share with us to center us back to focusing on what mattered and really asked us the right guiding questions to understand fully what we needed. He was also responsible and COVID safe during this time which was important to us as well.
We ended up having an “engagement” shoot with him to commemorate the time while we waited to reschedule our ceremony. We did next to no planning for this-Ryan took care of everything! We had the most amazing adventure day. We got to experience Big Sur as he shared tidbits about what he loved about the area. And we never felt awkward! He is also just a fantastic person and you really get a sense for his kindness and thoughtfulness over the course of a day spent together. He cares for the community he’s a part of and is responsible in caring for the incredible natural space we visited. We came out of our day feeling supported and connected. Ryan is a true artist, and we felt like he really thought about us and what would be best for us, as well as experimenting with new ideas.
Ryan sent us a sneak peak quickly after our shoot and we were blown away, and that feeling just expanded when we got our fully gallery. It’s beyond what we ever imagined. The quality and variety of photos (some portraits, others with movement, many different locations) showcase his photographic talents and passion. There are photos that are absolutely gorgeous and also so many shots that we will hang proudly as art. One thing that stood out to us is that the photographs truly reflect how we felt there-he does an amazing job capturing emotion and we can see our own joy, thoughtfulness, and love reflected. We can’t fully express how deeply grateful we are to Ryan for everything he’s done to make this time special for us through all the obstacles. We will treasure these photographs for our lifetime. If you get the chance to work with Ryan, do it! It will be the best decision you make! -

Ryan drove all the way to Sebastopol to do our engagement photos at our home and it was the best decision we could have made. Not only did Ryan manage to make sure the couples shoot thing was not awkward but it was incredibly comfortable and so much fun! We couldn’t be happier with our photos and our only concern now is trying to choose favorites among the literal hundred that we’re in love with!! We cannot recommend Ryan enough!! First of all, he has an incredible talent. His creative eye and unique aesthetic, deliver stunning photos that are true works of art.
Equally, if not more, important - he has a way of making you feel so at ease and natural in front of the camera. As a result, the photos feel so authentic to us, and captured the pure bliss that we felt on our big day.
On top of all of that - he was wonderful to work with leading up to the day. We had ever-changing plans due to Covid & wildfires, but he handled every twist and turn with such grace. His go-with-the-flow nature was so appreciated throughout the planning process.

Ryan is an amazing photographer and truly a joy to have around on your wedding day.
My husband and I planned a small wedding in Big Sur and I found Ryan via Google search for photographers in the area. Every bit of communication with him was flawless from the beginning. He was extremely professional and also personable.
About 6 months before the wedding our plans changed and we decided to get married at San Francisco City Hall instead with only our immediate families. Ryan was so understanding and even encouraged us to do exactly what we wanted and not stress. It was clear he wanted us to do the wedding that was right for us and he was there to support us.
Ryan met me and my sisters at my apartment in San Francisco and then rode with us to City Hall for the ceremony. After, we then hopped on a bus and stopped around our favorite places in and outside of the city. It was a rather mobile wedding and Ryan totally embraced that it was non traditional :)
There were 16 people in attendance including us. When you have such a small wedding, it’s important that any additional person gets along with the whole group. Ryan was so nice to everyone and had such a good attitude that he wasn’t just an additional person, he was really a welcomed part of the group. We were honestly so excited to have him there.
Not to mention our photos are AMAZING! They are so artistic and honest and personal. They don’t just feel like wedding photos, they feel like the perfect summary of our unique day. -

He came highly recommend by a friend..Ryan and I hit it off on our first call but I wanted to do an engagement session just to be super certain. We tours around Oakland having our photos taken and what was once daunting for us towards the end it was like we were all long lost buds. Once we received the photos from the session I absolutely knew he was our wedding photographer! Ryan took the time to learn what was important to us, listen and support, and most of all make it fun & RAW! Ryan is the perfect photographer, if he's available book him! We hired him for our wedding and I am so glad we did! I normally get very nervous in front of the lens... I get stiff and awkward most of the time so I was really nervous I'd end up ruining all our photos... But Ryan put me and my husband at ease, not really making us hold a pose while he shot us, he'd just give us suggestions and told us to talk and hug and touch each other. He has an amazing eye for composition and I love his aesthetic. Plus he got a TON of photos (over 900!) and it's the perfect mix of portraits and candids. I look through the album and I feel like he really captured the day, in total. -

Choosing to work with Ryan was one of the best decisions of our whole wedding, hands down. From the very beginning Ryan was a true professional and we knew we were in good hands right away. Ryan is very communicative and responsive, and gave clear explanations of his process and answers to any questions we had. Ryan is also highly intuitive and thoughtful -- he showed genuine interest in who we are as people, and his emotional sensitivity really came through in the images he captured of our wedding day.
