We got married at the Roostertail in October 2025, and it was absolutely stunning. The recent renovations and waterfront location on the Detroit River created breathtaking views of the skyline, river, and even Canada. Our glass-enclosed room with panoramic windows gave us the perfect sunset backdrop.
Inside, everything was immaculate with modern, elegant décor. The food and service were phenomenal, and the staff was organized, attentive, and genuinely warm—they truly made us feel like the only wedding that night. Our guests still rave about how beautiful everything was.
It was one of the best days of our lives. Everything was perfect.. thank you, Roostertail!

The Perfect Wedding Venue - Truly Unforgettable
We had our wedding at The Roostertail in downtown Detroit, and we could not have imagined a more perfect place to celebrate our day. The venue sits right on the beautiful Detroit riverfront, and our room—surrounded by glass on three sides—gave us the most breathtaking views of the waterfront. It created the perfect backdrop from start to finish.
A huge part of what made our day flawless was Nicole, the event coordinator. She was outstanding in every possible way. Nicole had every detail planned, thought through, and executed with absolute professionalism. She came prepared with plans B, C, and even D just in case, and her preparation and calm confidence made us feel completely at ease. She truly went above and beyond to make the entire experience stress-free, and we are forever grateful.
The food was also exceptional. Everything was delicious, but the hors d'oeuvres were unforgettable—we still talk about how we want to go back just to enjoy them again! The service throughout the entire event was unbelievable as well. From myself and the groom to our bridal party and every single guest, no one had to worry about a thing. The staff kept everything running smoothly and seamlessly.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect—everything we imagined and more—and so much of that is thanks to Nicole and the incredible Roostertail team. If you’re looking for a stunning venue with exceptional service, look no further.

Roostertail knocked it out of the park. Lexi Kagen was our main coordinator and she did absolutely fantastic and my wife and I have really enjoyed getting to know her. Lexi even gave us free tickets to the yacht rock party over the summer so we could get to see the roostertail in action. We had so many of our guests tell us how attentive and kind the staff was and how beautiful the venue was. We got married on the dock and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Lexi was kind, professional, and flexible the entire planning process. I would absolutely recommend anyone’s wedding to be there.

The most beautiful, on the water venue!
Nicole, Colleen, and Ava get all the hugs from me! My husband and I had visited the Roostertail as our first in person tour and I knew once I saw the Palm River room I had to have my wedding reception in it. One and done! Mind you we toured in January when the Detroit river surrounding was all still ice. You can tell the beauty of this place even in the winter. And the place looked a thousand times better in the summer for our June wedding.
Nicole and Colleen were beyond helpful with all of my questions, every text I sent was responded to within an hour and all the meetings with them both really helped solidify information and answered questions. Nicole is the best coordinator ever. She literally has the best personality for this job and this venue. She’s so sweet and helpful and bubbly and considerate, I’m really really happy I got to work with her.
Shout out to Ava too for making my ramen bar happen, myself and all of the guests LOVED it.
All the staff at the Roostertail are so helpful and it’s just a great location. My wedding guests even said Becky at the bar was great too.
Along the water, beautiful architecture, pretty lights, and wonderful staff, the Roostertail has it all. Don’t wait to book with them, you won’t regret it! The Roostertail is pricey, but you’re definitely paying for the beautiful location and the top notch service. Book early to get your payment plans all set up! Also, the food was great, we picked top sirloin and the chicken with mashed potatoes and corn! So good! Shout out to the chefs! You guys all rock!

Where Dream Weddings Are Made Possible
By all definitions possible, Roostertail is one of the most beautiful and unique venues you can find in Michigan. Not only is the view of the Detroit River absolutely stunning, especially with the way the sunlight hits as it begins to set, but also with the newly renovated and extremely dynamic lighting system and floor plans. The entire staff is an absolute delight to work with. Never at any point did we feel that they were just "going along with things". Every single person we worked with seemed to care wholeheartedly about making our vision come to life and that they were enjoying the creative process of planning our wedding along side us. By the end of this experience, they felt like new friends -- ones my husband and I are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with. We had some rather out-of-the-box ideas, including live fire performances, swordsman combat, jazz band, middle eastern drum line, and a DJ. These may have been barriers at other wedding venues, but when we told Roostertail, they were nothing short of supportive and enthusiastic about making sure it all came together seamlessly. They even went above and beyond and added in surprises for us and our guests throughout the night, which was so cool! Also, we HIGHLY recommend their fireworks add-on option over the Detroit River. Truly, magical. The Roostertail team's attention to detail, responsiveness, and commitment to excellence made this a night we will never forget. We are so grateful to have had our wedding at the Roostertail and feel lucky to have collaborated with such genuine, professional, and fun people. Magical Wedding Reception!
The Roostertail is an amazing venue! My daughter just had her dream wedding reception there, and it was Top Shelf, 100%!
The quality of the service and cuisine were extraordinary. And the view out over the Detroit River was breath-taking! We were in such good hands with Colleen Peltz, Event Producer and Nicole Spicuzza, Director of Event Sales.
They responded quickly to all our concerns throughout the wedding preparation process.

Fall wedding- a must at roostertail!
We had our wedding in the fall of 2024 at Roostertail. From the first phone call with Nicole to the night of the event, the team was very responsive and truly amazing to work with. Roostertail does check ins with a packet to help guide you to make sure you have everything you need. Even though they don’t do a food tasting, it’s truly not needed. The food was amazing and every single guest of mine LOVED the fish, and chicken options. Another huge plus for us was being able to have our dog be apart of the ceremony as well, as not many venues allow this. If you’re looking for a wedding on the waterfront in Detroit, I truly recommend Roostertail and Nicole.

Not Only a Gorgeous Venue but An Amazing Staff
As someone who works in the wedding industry in Boston I was very particular along with my wife about what we wanted, especially being out of state. From the first call to the day of, Nicole was amazing to work with and made us feel so comfortable. She was the first coordinator we talked to who truly was curious about what we wanted and why we wanted it. She and the staff answered all our questions (and we had a lot). Our day could not have worked out better. On the day of they made everything easy and helped us truly feel like the guests of honor. I couldn’t think of a better team than Nicole, Coleen, and the rest of the venue staff who worked to shape our day to be as memorable as we hoped it would be.

The Roostertail is the most amazing venue! The view, the staff, the food, the history, the accommodations - it’s all perfect.
My husband and I spent 6 months venue hunting for the perfect venue and we found it here! There are diet friendly foods, wonderful staff members (especially Nicole & Colleen!), incredible views, and so much more.
Nicole, the event coordinator, is absolutely wonderful. She stayed the entire night on our big day and helped us through it all. She is helpful, kind, and enthusiastic about working together. She truly cares about every couple that walks through the door. She worked with our budget, helped talk through the whole process and the realities of wedding days, met all of our wants/needs, and was just overall wonderful !!
We can’t say enough good things about The Roostertail. If you are thinking even a little bit about having your event here- please please just go tour it (&book it!) you won’t regret it!!

WOW. I don't think I have ever received so many compliments or follow up texts regarding a wedding venue. To say this space is stunning is an understatement. There are so many wonderful things to love about the Roostertail and the backdrop alone is reason enough to book this spot for your wedding!!!
We worked with Shawna and Colleen who were absolutely wonderful from the jump. They were communicative, helpful, and overall just the nicest people you have ever met. On the wedding day, we felt so taken care of. We didn't have to worry about a thing!! Shawna even made sure to swap out my drinks when they were getting too cold :)
Amazing service, amazing food, amazing venue. I cannot recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor and don't hesitate to book this place immediately!! You get quintessential Detroit mixed with the modern touches of the space. You cannot go wrong picking the Roostertail.

I highly recommend the Roostertail!
The team at the Roostertail truly delivered a world-class experience for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding reception, which hosted over 200 guests. From start to finish, every detail was meticulously planned and executed to perfection. The venue, with its stunning views of the Detroit River, provided a breathtaking backdrop for the celebration.
The food was fantastic, delighting our guests with a variety of delicious options. The level of service was exceptional, with Shawna, the president, and Ava visible throughout the event, ensuring that every guest felt attended to and valued. Their dedication and attention to detail did not go unnoticed and contributed significantly to the success of the day.

If you're thinking of having your wedding/reception at the Roostertail...do it! My husband and I got married there in May and it was absolutely perfect. The staff was so organized, welcoming, and helpful, and they made the planning process easy for us from start to finish. One huge perk about this venue is that their packages include everything (food, drinks, chairs, linens, etc.) and they even had a boxwood wall for rent that provided some great photo ops. Views of the river from the ceremony and reception (Palm River Room and deck) were gorgeous and look beautiful in our photos. Many of our guests also commented that the food was delicious. We want to give a huge shout out to Nicole for being an MVP on our big day! She made sure everything ran smoothly and worked side-by-side with our day of wedding planner to ensure our wedding day was just how we envisioned. I can't say enough good things about the Roostertail!

I was at the rooster tail for my nieces wedding. The total professionalism of the staff and the service was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve been to a lot of events over the years. I’m in my late 60s truly truly an unbelievable experience.
The young lady that took care of us. Her name is Nicole. This woman did not stop. She was on every detail every aspect. If you needed something she made it happen immediately there is no hesitation Or let me think about it. Hell no she just did it.

Roostertail was awesome! Nicole and the staff treated us like family. As the father of the bride, l couldn’t have made my daughter’s wedding more beautiful then the Roostertail did. Our family and friends still talk about the wedding today. I was always told that the venue makes the wedding.

An ABSOLUTELY wonderful experience!!
I have never had a party of such extraordinaire. My retirement party was in August 2023 and it is now December 2023 and my family, friends and all my colleagues at the Detroit Fire Department are still talking about that night, saying “it was the best retirement party they had ever gone to”. A gorgeous venue off the Detroit River and every guest had a beautiful view. Their party planner took care of all the arrangements according to my needs, which made it stress free! The food was delicious and the entire staff of the Roostertail on that night was professional, and very attentive to me as the hostess and each individual guest. May Wedding
We got married in May and are still getting tons of compliments about our wedding! Nicole was so much fun to work with and made the planning process so easy. Many of the vendors we ended up using came off of an extremely helpful list she gave us. Their familiarity with the venue and experience working with the staff at The Roostertail made coordination and communication so easy, especially since we were living out of state during the planning process! We had gorgeous weather for our beautiful ceremony overlooking the river, and our reception was also amazing! All of the food was delicious, but the appetizers were definitely my favorite. I still sometimes crave them six months later! Nicole and her staff were so accommodating, making sure my husband and I always had a drink in our hand and were having a good time. I HIGHLY recommend the milkshake bar. We’ve had so many people tell us that it was such a unique and fun thing to have at a wedding. Overall we had such a great time and would recommend The Roostertail for any kind of event!

I cannot put into words how grateful I was to have the Roostertail host my wedding! They were so organized from start to finish and truly made it a PRIORITY for me and my now husband to enjoy our day. The food was great, the bartenders/team not only sent us drinks over all night, but found out what we wanted ahead of time and everyone was extremely kind and attentive all night. The beautiful upgrades to an already amazing layout also made decorating so easy! My guests are still telling us how beautiful our wedding was! This is a beautiful venue that is enhanced by the level of customer the team provides! I am sincerely a happy bride. 💛

It’s hard to put into words the gratitude that I feel to the Roostertail for making our day so special. My husband and I got married and had both our ceremony and reception at the Roostertail on 9/23/2023. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day! The venue is so beautiful, the food was incredible, and the staff is amazing. Plus, the musical history of the Roostertail cannot be beat - one of the first things that had drawn us to the venue! My guests continue to rave about the view, the deliciousness of the food and the great pours! I wanted to give a special shout out to Nicole and Ava. Nicole was our day of venue coordinator, as well as my point of contact throughout my whole wedding planning journey with the Roostertail - she was an absolute dream to work with and any bride would be lucky to have her on their team! She made me and my entire family feel so welcomed and cared for - she went out of her way to attend to my every need the day of my wedding. When she heard that our morning plans fell through with our hotel vendor so I didn’t have a breakfast, she offered up some of her personal snack stash to make sure I wasn’t starving during the ceremony. Ava was so helpful throughout the night to attend to the needs of my family and I. She heard that I liked rum, so she got me a flight of different rums to sample! She truly made me feel so special. The staff here truly cannot be beat, they treat you like family and they go above and beyond. You can feel that this is a family owned business through and through. The Roostertail went above and beyond to make our day the wedding of our dreams. We even got to meet the owners, Tom and Diane, while we were there and they gave us a gift on our way out. This place truly cannot be beat. It is truly special. We can’t wait to be back. We love being a part of the Roostertail family

Beautiful downtown venue with amazing staff!
We had our January 21, 2023 wedding ceremony and reception at the Roostertail and had the most amazing experience! Nicole made the entire planning process easy and seamless. She was so kind and was always available to answer any and all questions. Her entire team went above and beyond on our wedding day, and we could not be more grateful. Our guests raved about the food, drinks and how beautiful the venue was. With a winter wedding, we wanted the venue to make a statement. The views from the Palm River Room cannot be beat! The floor-to-ceiling windows with the river and Detroit skyline made for a beautiful backdrop for our wedding. We would highly recommend the Roostertail to anyone looking for a unique Detroit venue with great food and a phenomenal staff!

Magical! Call Shawna you’ll see!!
After initially finding the Roostertail back in 2019 and pushing off our wedding a year due to the pandemic, we finally got married this last Saturday!!! My husband (yeah I can actually say that now!) and I wanted a Detroit wedding through and through. We visited several locations in the city, but when we came to the Roostertail, we knew it was the right place…..and the reason why…..SHAWNA!! First off….what an amazing person! Second off, she totally got us! She unlike anyone else we spoke with actually listened to us and then began to make what we said a reality! Everyone else simply threw pricing sheets us!!! During that first meeting, we didn’t talk wedding as much as we just talked, like we all knew each other for years!!!! As soon as we woke up the next we called Shawna and booked!! Aside from marrying my husband, best decision ever!! I could truly write a whole book on all the amazing things Shawna did for us throughout our two year dealings! As a new bride, I NEVER once worried about ANYTHING, because I had my Shawna!! And when our big day finally hit….she somehow even managed to have it be literally the best day of the year weather wise…..see magical! The venue itself is one of the most amazing you will come across with a staff that was so attentive and sweet, I wanted to steal them all to come work for me!!!! I do believe that almost everyone who attended the wedding came and told me it was the BEST wedding they’ve ever been to! Please, if you are looking to get married anywhere in metro Detroit……do yourself the biggest favor ever and just call Shawna at the Roostertail! Thank you Roostertail for a magical and unforgettable experience…. You are very lucky to have someone like Shawna there! Meant to be!
The Roostertail made our day come true! We had a longggg and bumpy wedding planning journey. We had gotten engaged in 2018 and decided to plan ahead and have the wedding 4/4/2020. Wellllll we originally were booked at a different venue. Which a few months before our wedding, closed. They transferred us to their sister location. Which a week after also closed as the company went bankrupt!!! . It was a brides nightmare! But We were then saved by the Roostertail! They were so kind and flexible and able to get us in and work with us to move the whole wedding there! I cried so many tears of joy!…..Then Covid hit. And weddings as a whole were haluted. When Covid started to lift a bit near the end 2020 the Roostertail stayed in the know and reached out to see about making sure our wedding still happened. Knowing they cared about us is such crazy times meant so much!! So November 2020 it was! However there was another ill timed Covid resurgence. we sorted out our life around Covid for awhile and the Roostertail stayed true to us. After a long wait we were able to make it happen March 2022!!! Nicole is BEYOND amazing! She was kind and clear and made everything so easy for us. The staff was all very organized and friendly and the guests we all so happy! I know I talked about how we got there after a bunch of craziness but I am SO HAPPY we did. It is an absolutely beautiful venue!!! The spacing and the layout were all customized just for us. We were in the palm river room and the VIEWS were perfection as the sunset. All my vendors enjoyed working there and I had a lot of guests come to me and share “this is my new favorite place” “this venue is so beautiful” “everyone should get married here”. And I agree!!! It worked out after bumps for us but if you read this whole long review, you don’t need to worry about anything if you pick the Roostertail now. Do it. It’s a dream come true

Best Wedding Decision We Made!
We got married in the Club Room at the Roostertail in October 2021, and everything about our experience with this venue, staff, event planers was PERFECT. Nicole was our day-of coordinator, and she was so helpful over the entire course of wedding planning. From the moment I first reached out to the venue, she was on the phone with me that afternoon with a package totally tailored to us and our wedding vibe, and I could tell she truly cared about delivering us the best day ever. AND Roostertail makes planning and personalizing your wedding package super super easy. That kind of care eliminated sooo much stress during the planning process...and even on a hectic wedding prep morning, we never doubted everything at the venue was under control & would turn out beautifully.
Our wedding was just over 2 months ago now, and we're STILL getting stellar feedback from our guests about how much fun they had, how amazing the food was (we did cocktail style instead of plated sit-down dinner, and it was just *chef's kiss,* and so filling), how attentive/professional/friendly the staff were, and how beautiful the location was.
Literally, our wedding day would have gone so differently if we got married anywhere else, so I'm endlessly grateful we made the decision to put our day in the Roostertail team's hands.

Breathtaking wedding
Everything was breathtaking. From the ceremony on the dock to the reception in the club room. Shawna and her amazing staff made everything every vision come to life. The food was great! They really make sure the bride and groom are well taken care of and are enjoying the special day!

Great Venue....Great Service!
We just got married here and I can’t recommend it enough. Great location...beautiful view of the Detroit River, downtown Detroit and Windsor. Our guest loved the outside wedding ceremony on the water and raved about the Palm River room and deck...great for selfies.
It was a wonderful venue. Nicole, the manager, is amazing and was so helpful the entire way through & worked perfectly with my wedding coordinator and vendors. The Roostertail is definitely in the top wedding venue picks within Detroit.

Such an easy experience. Worth every dollar
Nicole and the entire event staff are rockstars! From our first tour of the venue to our last dance Nicole took such special care of us. You would honestly think that we were old friends. Everyone was kind, patient and accommodating. On the day of my wedding - the staff was ready to go and super excited for us. it was also amazing to meet the owner on our special day.
The Roostertail is in the wedding business for a reason, they get it done. =)

Saved Our Wedding in Only 3 Days!
Our daughter's wedding, originally planned for 10.10.20 in Grosse Pointe was rescheduled during the pandemic for 7.1.21. Sadly, in January of 2021, the venue announced a major renovation and moved all weddings outdoors to a tent. Six days before the wedding, the tent was damaged in a storm, creating the need for a very quick venue change. In stepped the Roostertail, just 3 days before the wedding! From the moment we met Nicole and Michael, they were confident, reassuring, and positive they could create a dream wedding in only a few days. With so little time to make changes and notify guests, we had to trust Nicole and Michael and leave all the details to them. They exceeded our expectations in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY!
It is impossible to express the feeling walking into the Roostertail and then watching our daughter and son in law walk into the gorgeous Palm River room, with the absolutely breathtaking view. The entire staff was attentive, professional, and anticipated and met our needs before we even asked! Michael asked my favorite drink when we first met and ordered the malibu to make it, Nicole made sure I had that drink in hand all night long. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and received so many compliments. The owner, Tom Schoenith, even joined and shared stories and memories with our guests. During the evening they added a dry ice drink bar that was such a surprise and a hit with everyone! Guests were absolutely in awe of the Roostertail and their ability to create the night in a matter of days. Their attention to detail was incredible and they appeared to enjoy the night as much as we did. Nicole even created a slideshow of Lauren and Conner from Instagram pictures! Our only regret is that we didn't book the Roostertail from the start as their all inclusive package (food, cocktail hour, appetizers, premium bar, chiavari chairs, linens, table vases, outdoor covered ceremony deck overlooking the water, specialty drinks, and tax and gratuities) would have saved us time booking outside vendors and money.
Thank you Nicole, Michael, Tom and all the Roostertail staff for making Lauren and Conner's dream wedding possible and truly better than they ever imagined it would be. 🥰

Amazing!!!
The Roostertail and Nicole were absolutely amazing. We had initially booked for September 2020 and when it became clear that wasn’t going to be an option any longer, Nicole and the Roostertail staff did everything they could to make the postponement smooth and low stress. Nicole was so attentive and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. When it came to the week of the wedding she was so on top of her game that we felt totally at ease leaving the rehearsal. She was so great with communication, set up, and suggestions when we needed them (plus she’s the sweetest person ever). The staff was fun, friendly, and took safety precautions very seriously. We’ve received endless compliments about the venue, the staff, and the food. I cannot recommend the Roostertail enough. Despite everything going on they made sure we had our perfect wedding while keeping everyone as safe as possible.

Amazing Venue
I could never have enough positive things to say about Nicole our wedding coordinator from Roostertail and the ENTIRE Roostertail Staff. Wow. Just wow. First, planning a wedding during a pandemic is one of the most stressful experiences ever. From guidelines constantly changing to guests dropping because of covid to trying to make what should be a normal wedding, somewhat normal of a wedding. The Roostertail staff made all of our guests so comfortable and we were amazed at how well informed and trained they are with the covid protocols.
The venue was absolutely stunning, the food was ridiculously good and the drinks were pouring! If I could relive this day over and over again, I would in a heartbeat. The Roostertail Staff made my dreams come true and then some, even when it did not feel like it would ever come together. Even days leading up to the wedding, we were unsure if it was going to be announced that indoor dining would be shut down once again. Nicole always was on top of it and a step ahead with Plan B, C and D!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart from the kitchen staff, waitstaff, bartender, Shauna, Erik from GFS, the owner! and Nicole! You all made our day so special and we could never thank you enough.

Stunning Wedding Venue on the Detroit River
My husband & I had our wedding end of September at the Roostertail. We had originally planned for a destination wedding but had to cancel that due to the pandemic. We had to quickly find a venue. My husband had reached out to the staff at Roostertail, specifically Nicole to get a quote. During the stages of choosing a venue, Nicole was the only wedding coordinator that continued to reach out to us, willing to make our vision work with our budget. Once we decided to go with the Roostertail, we had to plan our wedding in 3 months. Nicole did an AMAZING job keeping us up to date on the latest news, how to keep our guest safe & really kept us organized with our wedding planning. She listened to our wishes & made it all happen. We really wanted a tropical style wedding, & she made that dream come to life. With little details such as palm trees next to our sweet heart table on the beautiful gazebo surrounded by water, the food being delicious & matching our theme (kabobs, coconut rice, & a banana pie), the beautiful blue & champagne table linens. It was SUCH a beautiful day & the beauty of the gazebo at the Roostertail enhanced it that much more. So happy we decided to go with the Roostertail. They made our dream “tropical style destination” wedding come true. Forever grateful!!! Would highly recommend. Nicole you were the BEST!!!

Amazing Experience - 10 years ago and again this year!
The Roostertail is amazing and once again, Shawna came through! We got married there 10 years ago exactly (August 22, 2010). Not much we can do these days with COVID to celebrate our anniversary, so on Friday afternoon we drove down there to see the place we got married at 10 years ago. Shawna was there and I had the song we danced to for our first dance saved on my phone. Shawna let us plug in and relive our "first dance" on the rising dance floor. It was noon and the place was empty, but for the few moments we were out on that dance floor, it felt like we were getting married all over again. Thanks to Shawna especially and the Roostertail as a venue - they are absolutely incredible.

The Roostertail is incredible!! I just got married there (ceremony and reception) and everything was like a dream. Nicole is the most amazing wedding coordinator and she is so attentive! We must have asked her a million and one questions and she answered them all! The staff was able to make our mid-pandemic wedding safe and fun for everyone by moving our wedding to the gorgeous outdoor side patio, offering table service for drinks, and doing a plated dinner rather than a buffet. Everyone was in proper PPE (mask, gloves) and all of our tables were socially distanced. Did I mention the view? Being right on the Detroit river is breath-taking and the cool breeze is unbeatable. We could not have asked for a more magical experience. Thank you so much to everyone at the Roostertail for making our wildest wedding dreams come true!

Truly a fairytale wedding!!!!
My husband and I had our ceremony on the patio and reception in the Palm
River room at the Roostertail on 10/05/19. It was perfect from start to finish! The venue was more beautiful than I could have imagined. Our coordinator Amber was simply AMAZING! Her attention to detail and expertise made our day even more special. From the moment we decided to have our wedding at the Roostertail she was incredible. Amber made us feel like we were the only couple shewas working with. She was responsive and always available to answer any questions or ideas we had. My mother and I will miss our visits with Amber at the Roostertail. It truly felt like we were working with a family member or a friend. My husband described Amber as “clutch,” after the groomsmen forgot their boutonnieres at the hotel, Amber and Shawna handmade boutonnieres for them moments before they walked down the aisle. Just when we thought Amber could not get any better, she SURPISRED us during the reception with a customized quesadilla bar. Excellent location near downtown and midtown Detroit where so much is happening!!!
Our ceremony was at Sweetest Heart of Mary and many of our guests stayed downtown and really enjoyed this venue which shows off the best of Detroit with views of the marina, the river, and downtown with the Rencenter and Bridge... breathtaking at dusk and romantic at night with the fountains and lighting effects .. just awesome. The staff take nothing for granted .. great food and service all through the event .. tireless attention to detail.

Shawna was my everything while planning from North Carolina.
Planning a wedding is an exciting but, stressful time in a bride's life. Then life happens and you have a million other things going on all at the same time. After deciding to get married in Detroit, I did my research from a far and fell in love with the Roostertail - sight unseen. People thought I was crazy when I told them I booked a venue I hadn't seen in person. Outside of my diligent research and reading 100s of other reviews, there is one word that explains my final decision to sign on the line. SHAWNA. She is amazing. Not only did she understand my vision immediately- she understood me and my fiance as people. She was able to make suggestions that were exactly what I wanted even though I gave her a scattered description of what I thought I wanted after a long day of work. When my fiance and I decided we wanted to share how we like to eat with our guests and not have a sit down dinner but, do tapas and heavy hor d'oeuvres all night long- she rolled with it and made my dreams come true! She knows how to read people, and truly is an asset I never thought I would have the pleasure to work with. She is personable and professional, never pushy, and always responsive. Shawna consistently went above the call of duty and even listened to me cry about things completely unrelated when I was having "one of those days." It's not hard to find a beautiful venue (although few are AS beautiful as Roostertail)... there are so many. What is hard to come by is a venue with a reputation as outstanding as The Roostertail, few places have been serving the community as an event center as long as they have. I can't say enough great things about my experience and encourage every bride to do your research-- the options, packages, level of service, attention to detail, love and care that the Roostertail provides is unparalleled. Magical NYE Wedding!
It’s hard to put into words how incredible Nicole and the entire Roostertail team is. Last year, John (my now husband) and I met with Nicole to inquire about having our wedding reception at the Roostertail. When people say they know the moment they walk into a venue, it’s the place for them, this is exactly how John and I felt. After one meeting with Nicole, we knew this was where we wanted to spend one of the most important days of our lives celebrating with our closest family and friends. Before we had anything finalized Nicole created a texting group chat with her, John and I titled, ‘John & Deana NYE 2018 Wedding.’ Seeing something as simple as this made us so excited and we felt so special. From our first encounter with Nicole we felt truly cared about and we loved that she was just as excited as we were. We said YES to the Roostertail. This was one of the easiest and best decisions we have ever made.
Throughout the entire planning process, Nicole was always there to answer phone calls, text messages, and emails promptly. I can honestly say, I did not have any worries and/or anxiety about the wedding because I trusted her 100%. I enjoyed the most important day in my life, worry-free because of Nicole. I know not every bride can say that. Nicole and the entire Roostertail team were flawless. They included several surprises the night of our wedding, which we are forever grateful for. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and all the staff members were extremely accommodating. The owner of the Roostertail was on sight the night of our wedding and personally came over to John and I congratulating us, making sure we were good. Remarkable customer service! We have received endless compliments about the evening from our guests. Our New Year’s Eve wedding was so magical, something out of a movie! I honestly could not imagine planning our wedding without Nicole and recommend her and the Roostertail team with no reservations. We look forward to attending future Roostertail events!

Club Room was a great venue in Detroit for an intimate wedding of 50 to 70 people. We had a wedding reception for 60 on October 20th and it was perfect!

The Roostertail was fabulous!! Our wedding day was perfect thanks to the team at the Roostertail. They went above and beyond to be sure that our day was perfect for us. The weather was not cooperating and then it cleared up at the last minute and they moved the set up from indoors to outdoors. They were very accommodating and Nicole our wedding planner was always on top of everything along the entire planning process. She was so much fun, personable and helpful so it made the wedding planning more fun than stressful.

Nicole, Shawna and the entire Roostertail team are AMAZING! Our wedding was on April 21 and was absolutely fabulous with lots of little touches added. We asked for a chocolate chip cookie snack and got awesome little bottles of milk (chocolate, strawberry and plain) with cookies on straws stuck in the bottle! We had seen a polar bear (my spirit animal) at a holiday event and they got it out of storage so it could greet our guests! They even helped us with a unique seating arrangement. I cannot say enough good things about The Roostertail - if I could give them 10 stars I would.

Darnesha and her Dream Team!
We were in the best hands the day of our winter wonderland wedding when we had our intimate wedding of 46 people in the Roostertail’s beautifully redone Club Room.
First and foremost, Darnesha and her Dream Team. Oh my goodness. This girl endured my constant calls and emails and handled my organization overload with ease! There isn’t a detail this girl missed on our wedding day…plus she’s super sweet and adorable and a joy to talk to! The same went for the rest of the staff that helped on our wedding day. I wish I could remember all their names because they were all SO nice and made sure that each and every guest was attended to. We received so many compliments on the location, the food, the atmosphere, but most of all, the staff and how friendly and how at home everyone felt! We cannot thank each of them enough for making our day so special!
The food and drinks – A++++. We had plated dinners with the option of chicken piccata, salmon or a spice rubbed sirloin with bordelaise sauce. All had ravings reviews. Appetizers were delicious too!! I have more to write here by Wedding Wire has a limit lol.
I could seriously rave on and on about the Roostertail, it’s staff and it’s service. We had the most incredible night and not one person at our wedding had a bad experience and raved about it being one of the best weddings they had ever been to. It was a magical evening and Adam and I felt like we were accepted into the Roostertail family and have never felt so loved and taken care of as we did on that day!
If you’re having a big or a small wedding, the Roostertail has the space you need in a beautiful location and a staff that truly goes above and beyond what is expected of them. I highly highly highly recommend it!

Shawna is absolutely, hands down, the greatest wedding planner of all time. I have 3 daughters and this wedding/reception was for the last of the 3. After working with Shawna, the other 2 owe me a refund lol. This lady listens, she hears, she reads between the lines and all of the above. Words cannot Express the deep appreciation I have for Shawna because she made my daughters reception a true fairytale. The reception was worth every dime I spent.
Now for that fabulous venue. We were on the first floor in the Marine Room. By the time Shawna and her team finished the decorating, linens, candle operas and food presentation, my guest were blown away. People are calling our event the wedding of the century (not year).
Finally, I want to say to all parents of the bride or whomever is paying the bill, in the beginning it does seem expensive. But, the payment schedule is very flexible and I promise you on that special night, you will realize you made the best investment in your family and friends. The event is worth every dime that you spend.

Having attended my granddaughters wedding at the Roostertail in October 2016, I would like to say from my observations it was the best. Shawna was certainly on top of her game. Starting with the rehearsal Friday evening up to the time we left after the wedding on Saturday night everything was perfect. She as well as the entire staff did everything they could to make this a memorable event for every attendee and certainly the Bride and Groom. The food was great, all staff members were very courteous and very helpful, the bartenders were expedient, the venue was decorated nicely, seating was very accommodating, and the water display outside the windows was breathtaking, with colored lighting yet!
I would recommend this venue to anyone, in all our years, this wedding stood out and will be remembered by us for a long time. Many thanks to Kyle and Alisha for choosing "The Roostertail". Thanks to Shawna and the entire staff for taking such good care of us, you are the best.

We had the wedding for my daughter on March 5, 2016....we used the upstairs room and the reception was in the evening, was a beautiful setting, with twinkling lights...sound system was phenomenal...seating arrangements and food was excellent...have no complaints whatsoever. When you arrive on the floor, you enter into the bar area, they had tables set up and appetizers galore...They had to close the bar to have everyone go to their seats as everyone had a great time in the bar area...was so much fun, the minute you walked onto the floor...servers were excellent, drinks were fab...too notch drinks and service.

Shawna is so experienced with weddings, she had everything going on schedule, and all of her suggestions were spot on. You would be so lucky to have the opportunity to work with her, she is amazing! I just had my wedding on April 16th of 2016 at the Roostertail and it was the most amazing day of my life. Shawna was so fun to work with and her staff were phenomenal they went above and beyond all expectations to ensure the night ran smoothly, made sure every detail was perfect and kept all of our needs fulfilled. They were ready for anything and everything. Some staff even stayed to ensure guests left safely. My husband, our parents and I have recieved dozens of messages and phone calls saying how amazing everything was. We experienced first hand what can come out of impeccable leadership. My ceremony was perfect my reception was perfect and the entire experience was absolutely amazing, a dream come true.

Shawna at the Roostertail is one of the best professional, and easy to work with individuals we have come across in the industry. My (now) husband and I are from Detroit, however we were planning the wedding from San Francisco with the help of our parents. Shawna went above and beyond to make sure that, as an out of town bride, I felt comfortable with all decisions being made. She worked closely with my Father and made herself available to us basically at any time of the day (not expected but great with the time difference!).
The reception itself was fantastic. Our guests raved about the cocktail hour and overall food. Shawna worked with our vendors for an awesome ambience during dinner. Simply said, it was the BEST night of our lives, and we could not have been happier with the Roostertail.

The Roostertail was an amazing place to have our wedding at. They were flexible with letting us adjust a few things with our package. A lot of things were included in the package as well including linens and chairs and some center piece options if you chose to use them. It is an expensive venue but very beautiful and we received a lot of compliments.

I have childhood memories of boating with my family down to the Roostertail and Sinbads. Never in my wildest dreams that I would get married at the Roostertail! It was amazing! Guests from our wedding still talk about the floor raising up during our first dance, the massage water jets spraying outside, coffee station and all the other special touches for our wedding day. OMG! My wedding was like a fairytail! We got married on the deck house on the water. Our wedding coordinator Jacqueline, was AMAZING from the beginning of the ceremony to the end of the reception. Literally holding my hand before the ceremony because I was so nervous.. The raising dance floor, the delicious foods, the desert table, the bar, the out door patio, the VIP bridal suite with heated toilet seats, the purple lights, THE VIEW! The Roostertail is a beautiful venue, but what makes it so amazing is Shawna, the event director. Shawna went above and beyond her duty with my daughter's wedding last Sat, in so many ways. EVERYTHING was taken care of down to the last detail. My daughter and I are out of town so we did a lot of planning by e mail and over the phone, but one would never know it. The decorations were stunning, the lighting spectacular, the "Roostertail" fountain lit up after dark, and the raised dance floor took everyone's breath away as my daughter and her new husband danced their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. All the guests commented on how wonderful the food was and the dessert table was impossible to choose from! Shawna and her staff know what they are doing. There is a reason The Roostertail has been in business for 50 years. Everything about our wedding was spectacular and pefect and I thank Shawna for that. She even took care of some emotional counseling and encouragement for the father of the bride as he talked to her about his speech, and she poured him a martini and really listened to what he had to say. I just can't say enough good things. Anyone who is planning a wedding in the Detroit area should definitely visit The Roostertail and look at the lovely view of, yes, the Detroit River and the Detroit Skyline. Even on a dreary day the reflected lighting from inside made ours a truly "fairytale" wedding! Thank you Shawna and your dedicated staff! Rita

I could not have imagined a better experience for our wedding day. I can't tell you how many people came up to me during and after the wedding telling me how perfect everything was and I could not agree more. We planned our wedding from out of state, and I literally did nothing except pick the food (which was OUTSTANDING) and make the seating chart. The rest was covered by the apparently superhuman Shawna.
At first, the cost seemed a little steep, especially since we weren't planning to spend our life savings on the wedding. However, once we learned what was included (dinner, open bar, desserts, linens, centerpieces, tax and gratuity) it was clear that the Roostertail is an excellent value. Beyond that, all the little things like helping us with the rehearsal, putting up all the decorations I brought, and even bringing us drinks during the post ceremony pictures were more than worth it! Shawna listened to everything I said and everything I wanted, and shared her expert advice when I wasn't quite sure. (suggesting sliders and pizza at the end of the night instead of spending the money on a champagne toast... brilliant and much appreciated by the guests!)
I really can't say enough good things about Shawna and the Roostertail. I am still in a daze about how perfectly everything went... I just can't believe how easy it was! We kept thinking up things that needed to be planned, just to realize that the Roostertail already had it covered. I would have my wedding there 100 times over!

I'm so glad we went with the Roostertail! The staff there are nice and helpful. They go above and beyond. They're just great at their job! They made the place look wonderful and everything was better than I expected. I think it's a great value for a reception. The place will look great for your wedding! You won't have to worry about the details or spend more money on decorations, renting chairs, cloth, etc.

What can I say about the Roostertail. They completely made our reception freaking amazing. From the moment we booked there, I knew I was dealing with a great place and a great sales person, Shawna. The Roostertail had so many nice added bonuses like a variety of linens to use in house (saved lots of money for a great look), chivari chairs, centerpiece options if you want them and obviously, a gorgeous venue. They went above and beyond in every possible way and I can't even say enough about them and Shawna.
Shawna let me email and call her so many times well in advance of our wedding with stupid questions and never getting annoyed with me. And that was just leading up to the wedding. The few months before, my communications and visits became more frequent and Shawna (and all the staff) were so helpful. I would go to play around with linens or check out the room and they let me come and go as I pleased. Shawna also let us sample some food at a party they were having so we could decide on the menu. She really helped us decide on things that work well and worked with us on our quirky requests like having just the salads plated and set out so people didnt' have to juggle two plates in the buffet line and getting us our Oberon for the bar. Shawna also allowed for my parents to charge a monthly payment every month until the wedding rather than waiting till the end...which my parents will be forever grateful for. We were able to upgrade just certain liqours as part of our contract, rather than the whole bar, and get appetizers and a late night snack...while staying at the Roostertail revenue minimum for a Saturday night wedding. They allowed us to drop off two car loads full of decor at the site the day before and they hauled it all off for us and locked it away for safe keeping. Talk about service. And this is just before May 9th.
May 9th. I hired a DOC to take care of a lot of set-up for the extensive candy buffet and parts of table decor (chair sashes, chargers). More to come on that review...pending further discussions. Shawna called me at 11AM the morning of the wedding, asking what she could get started on for us since all she wanted to do was help. That made me feel sooo good that she was taking such an active role in our wedding to make it phenomenal. When I walked into the room the day of the wedding, I was in shock and awe. It was more than I could have ever imagined. They set up the linens and the room in such a great way and I later found out, they set up our candy buffet, not our DOC as planned. It was more than I thought it could be. I had about 21 containers of my own, but the Roostertail contributed some and it was the biggest thing of candy I had ever seen. I think I made my little cousins' lives that night.
Anyways, the Roostertail also threw in a Signature Martini for us free of charge and our guests loved it. The waiters had trays floating around filled with them and it was such a nice touch that they did not have to do for us, but did. The food was outstanding, everyone loved it and even the chef came out to make sure everything was to our liking. We had White Castles as a midnight snack and I think that was the hit of the night...there were boxes lying around everywhere. An added nice thing that they did for us as we were waiting for the Omni shuttle to come back at the end of the night, the owners drove Steve and I to our hotel so we didn't have to wait. It was so thoughtful!
All in the all, the Roostertail made our wedding so fantastic, fun and we felt like celebrities with the way they treated us. It is not a cheap venue, but the quality of service and food is worth every penny. I wish I could start planning another party there!

Having our reception at the historic Roostertail in Detroit was a dream come true. There is no place like it! The location right on the river, the food and the service were all phenomenal. I highly recommend this venue.

The Roostertail and everyone on their team are so incredible. They put together the wedding of our dreams and we could not have been happier! Our wedding planner, Nicole, was so patient and accommodating even during the toughest of times. When we arrived to see the venue on our big day we were both totally stunned. The once empty room that we had toured a year before had magically become the venue we had always dreamed of. I had people approaching me saying that this was the best wedding they had been too in a very long time. Our service was top notch and the food and beverage was awesome! Thank you to the Schoenith's for keeping this venue family owned and operated and for being incredibly wise in hiring Nicole, you both are very lucky to have her.

Could not have been happier with my DREAM wedding at The Roostertail! Our event planner, Erica, was absolutely amazing to work with, extremely friendly and saw my vision from day one! I would recommend her & The Roostertail to all of my friends! What an extravagant place and they made my pink bedazzled dream wedding come true!!!! THANK YOU ERICA & THE ROOSTERTAIL! Bar was high any they exceed expectations!!!
Nicole is incredible!! On the day of our event she made us feel special!!! She was extremely well organized and every employee no matter their role made the night magical. We are particularly impressed with Brooklyn, she was very attentive to every detail. The food was incredibly delicious and generous portions. We had the most memorable night and would highly recommend the Roostertail for celebrating special occasions!!!

Shawna and her crew at the roostertail are bomb.com. everything was taken care of as I had asked for. They helped make sure that things took place on time. And even when there was a major hiccup they responded quickly and professionally to help make sure that every one was okay and that things continue to run smoothly. I didn't have many things that I felt was a necessity on my special day. Having a smaller wedding I said that I 1. Wanted as little stress as possible 2. I didn't want myself or my bridal party or family to have to worry about set up and take down and other trivial things 3. I wanted good food and to be able to actually eat my food during dinner time. That's it! Shawna made sure all of those things happened. I didnt have to worry about anything at all. I highly recommend the roostertail.

Incredible!!
We originally booked the Roostertail for our May 30th, 2020 wedding but due to covid, we ultimately had to postpone. Roostertail & Nicole were incredibly accommodating & worked with us as we ultimately decided to postpone our large reception but continue with a small intimate wedding/mini reception on October 23rd, 2020....& we are SO happy we decided to do this!! Nicole was so incredibly helpful, and worked with us to make our dream wedding (for only 13 people!). Up until the wedding date, Nicole was very detail oriented &constantly worked with us to make sure that we felt comfortable & provided great expertise & suggestions! The day of our wedding, we were BLOWN away! The attention to detail & the set up was more than we could have ever dreamed of - everything was so beautiful & they made our intimate wedding feel so incredibly special. The food was fantastic, the decor was stunning, & our families raved about all of that along with the professionalism & helpfulness of the entire staff at Roostertail. Roostertail & staff also adhered to all COVID restrictions, which put us at ease & we all felt incredibly safe the entire time. The staff went above & beyond on a few incidents that happened: 1. We had a torrential downpour/storm almost immediately after the wedding ceremony & were stranded on the deck but they brought out umbrellas/helped us dry off/put coats in dryers, etc!. 2. I spilled an ENTIRE GLASS OF RED WINE on my dress, and the staff immediately assisted me and helped me to get everything out. Overall, we were so incredibly happy with our initmate wedding/reception and with Nicole and the entire staff at Roostertail. Our 13 person event felt so incredibly special & they definitely pulled out all of the stops to make us feel special, including Mr. Schoenith who really assisted in our intimate event! Our intimate wedding day was so incredibly perfect & would not have been possible without Nicole & the staff at Roostertail! We are already so excited for our postponed large reception at the Roostertail!

It was awesome. The venue was so beautiful even though I didn't know I wasn't having the ceremony outside until the day before lol. MI weather sucks. But the inside ceremony was still just as beautiful. Everyone was blown away by the rising dance floor, and the water shooting outside. It was truly beautiful altogether.
