Barbeque Belongs at Weddings!

There are no words that could sum up how amazing Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company is! From start to finish, the process was seamless, effortless, and savory! Their professionalism and organization are top tier! Beatriz was a pleasure to work with, a true asset to their catering department! We had to postpone our wedding for a year, and Beatriz, despite every obstacle we hit, found a way! We cannot thank her enough for her time, effort, reassurance, and kindness!

And then there's the dedicated staff member assigned to my groom and me for the evening....she knew what we needed before we even needed it! From something as simple as tissues and water down to our favorite appetizers and cocktails, she was on it!

Lastly, the FOOD! My husband still raves about the Southwest Black Bean Spring Rolls and Chicken Satay during cocktail hour! Dinner was the highlight of the entire evening! Not a soul thought they would be eating barbecue ribs that night! And Rocklands delivered! We also requested Tomato and Basil Pasta for our 1 vegetarian guest, which was delicious and plentiful enough for him to have his fill and take with him at the end of the evening! The remaining dishes were also packed up for us to enjoy at home! I just wish someone thought to take a picture before they DEVOURED it! Hands down, the best wedding decision we made, and our guests thanked us for it!

Great Wedding Experience.

Beatriz and the whole Rocklands team were amazing. There was great communication throughout and the team was great day-of. The food was really good and hot and really fresh tasting. Everyone was thrilled about the food and the caterers professionalism. Bartender was good, and the whole pig was a showstopper!

Above All Expectations!

Rocklands not only catered, but went above and beyond to ensure our wedding went incredibly well and was fully supported. The guests loved the food (as did we), service was incredible and so kind, and the whole team worked so hard to help us have the best wedding day! I cannot recommend them enough!!

Wonderful experience

Rocklands recently catered my daughter's wedding and guests raved about the food. Our main entrees were the Salmon and the Prime Rib. It was also a pleasure to work with Beatriz to plan the menu and to coordinate all of the details (they even handled the tent rental for us) and the staff at the event was very responsive and attentive. Everyone helped us make it a wonderful event for our daughter and son-in-law and our guests. I would definitely use Rockland's catering again without hesitation.

Excellent Wedding BBQ Catering Experience

My wife and I ended up with Rocklands BBQ for our wedding and we were extremely impressed with their responsiveness and professionalism. Beatriz was respectful and flexible in planning the menu and the schedule. We wanted to bring our own snacks, dessert, and drinks (Beatriz was completely fine with all of it!). The catering staff were efficient in setup and breakdown and my wife and I had our own dedicated server to make sure we could enjoy the delicious BBQ and sides! Overall, extremely pleased!

Highly recommend for any event

I highly recommend Rocklands for catering any wedding. They are extremely professional and easy to work with. The food is absolutely delicious, we received many compliments from our guests. The service was incredible. I would use them again for any event. They clearly know what they are doing. I loved that they provided cute menu and drink signs. We are also gluten free and have friends with other allergies. They marked all of that on the menu and card tents. We provided all the alcohol to save some money, they provided all the mixtures and fruits etc. They did a wonderful job making and serving the drinks at the bar.

Amazing with allergies! Not your average BBQ.

We were so happy with our decision to go with Rocklands - they were a breeze to work with, the staff was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious! My husband has a severe dairy allergy which always makes things a bit more complicated, but Rocklands staff was both so knowledgeable and attentive that it was no issue! They were able to prepare almost everything without dairy, and all staff knew which items had dairy and he could not eat - it really eased the anxiety that usually comes with eating with allergies.

Besides their expert handling of the dietary restrictions, I cannot speak highly enough of the bartenders and waiters. Again they were just so attentive, regularly checking in with us to ensure we always got something to eat/drink during the busy times. The bartend (whose name I wish I could remember!!) was such a sweetheart and even sat a bottle of rose aside when she saw that is what I was drinking to ensure I wouldn't run out!

Finally, the best part about Rocklands is their sides. I think BBQ tends to be very heavy which is not necessarily ideal for a wedding, but they have tons of lighter sides (we loved the chickpea salad and cucumber and mint salad) that are equally as delicious but a bit lighter than the mac n cheese or potato salad you typically have with BBQ.

Great food and service

Our son's traditional big wedding plans got covided. So after Rockland's food truck came to our neighborhood a couple of times, we had them cater a family-only backyard reception. It was great!

Excellent Low Key Spot with Delicious Food

Rocklands provided a comfortable setting for my clients rehearsal dinner! Everyone raved about the service and quality of the food. The managers and servers were so helpful with getting everything set up and my many requests! Would definitely recommend!

My first choice and go to

We really wanted bbq and Rockland's was the only one to be able to do it fun style with class. We had china and silverware with cloth napkins and glasses. They did a site visit and walked through the layout with all our concerns in mind and on the day of the event they were there and ready to go with all the staff and accessories. Our site was 35 miles away and they didn't bat an eye. Our guests (165) were thrilled with the wonderful food in a non-traditional but formal menu. We have used them several times since to cater our events.

hands down the best BBQ in the DC area!

We hired Rocklands to cater our rehearsal dinner (which we hosted at our church as a welcome reception for out of town guests, so it was about 100 people)! This was an easy choice for us to make because we have been huge fans of Rocklands for years... in fact, the restaurant in Ballston is where we had several of our first dates. So it was special to be able to work with them for the rehearsal dinner. Their catering team is amazing! From getting help crafting the right menu to setting up and putting on a beautifully catered dinner, our experience working with them could not have been better. Our guests RAVED about the food!

Madison was very responsive, I would Email her a lot of questions and she tirelessly gave me answers, patiently taking pictures of the things we wanted to see before the event.

The staff at the Event was very courteous too, they were working so hard on that very heavy rain, I commend their dedication.

Overall, we are all satisfied with the good food and good customer service.

Terrific catering for our daughter's wedding in Arlington, VA at Hendry House. During the planning phase, my daughter was able to make changes to the menu easily. We saved money by purchasing alcohol ourselves, with Rocklands bartenders serving it along with their delicious homemade lemonade and ice tea--much appreciated on a hot June Day. Simple barbecue buffet was great for a Garden Party wedding. The barbecue beef and salmon were a great choice. Also especially loved mini jalapeño corn muffins. For dessert, along with cake from our own bakery, Rocklands served mini cupcakes, and finished off with the usual coffee, and pulled out an icecream pushcart serving a half dozen novelty ice creams--guests loved this refreshing end to a very hot day. Staff and servers all did their jobs professionally allowing us to enjoy the event. Thanks Rocklands!

Everything was great, we have used Rocklands for many years and they always do a wonderful job. Food is delicious and set up and clean up are always done well. Staff was amazing as usual, they are friendly and always go the extra mile.

Everyone was great but the bartender we had was particularly exceptional! She was so friendly and had us laughing and chatting every time we went over. Food was perfect as usual and everything ran smoothly.

Top notch, far exceeded expectations from start to finish. Provided valuable insight during wedding planning with value-added recommendations. Understood the pros and cons of the venue, knew how to make it our own. Made it a turn-key operation, no muss, no fuss, for the bride and her wedding party. Very flexible in response to potential inclement weather. Servers took care of the party and all attendees without being obvious. And did I mention that the food was outstanding?! I'd do it again with Rocklands in a heartbeat.

This was our first time working with Rockland's Catering, and it will certainly not be our last. We planned a rooftop reception with over 600 RSVPs. Of course mother nature had her way and called for showers and thunderstorms. With two days advance notice we had to change locations, and host our event indoors. The Rockland's team didn’t sweat it and worked with us to ensure we had a successful event.

There was ample food, and the staff were beyond professional. They ensured the venue was kept clean and tidy, and helped with other catering needs as well.

I highly recommend working with Rockland's!

I worked with Rocklands to coordinate a lunch after church for about 60 people. It was a little bit last minute, but it was not a problem for them. Anne was professional, responsive, and provided me with the information I needed. They arrived early the day of, and the staff person was great to work with. The food was delicious and plentiful and prices were good. I had a great experience with them from beginning to end. Would definitely use them again in the future!

The food is always excellent; been a long time customer at the Arlington location and have decided to use the catering option for our bi-annual parties this year! Always a pleasure and Maurice is just exceptional!!!

I am a little disappointed though that as a returning customer that spends on average between 2500 and 3500 for each party that there isn’t an incentive for a returning customer, for example a free appetizer or $100 off the cost just as a simple way of showing appreciation for the customer. Was disappointing to hear that the incentives were already used throughout the year and there were none left.

Rocklands' team was awesome. They were very helpful and informative in their menu choices and services. They were very flexible and patient with us while we continually changed our minds on what we wanted. The team that came out on our wedding day were amazing and helped us out tremendously. Anne, Maurice, Wayland and the whole Rockland's team were wonderful to work with! Anne was responsive to my emails and quick to make any changes requested. Wayland provided a thorough and helpful walk through of our event space and rain site weeks prior to our event, which made discussing options for all set up easy. Maurice and the whole team were a delight to have on site, as we dealt with fairly windy conditions during our picnic.

I could not have made a better choice for my wedding caterer!!!! Often times, wedding food is forgettable or even if it's good, it's not something you remember much after the wedding but Rocklands BBQ is an anomaly. The food was great, the appetizers were a hit with guests and the bartenders were awesome. Even during the planning stage, Carmen and her team were extremely responsive with any and all questions I had...sometimes, I received email responses only minutes after sending an inquiry. I was always taken care of like I was special and it will never be forgotten. The food can speak for itself but they went above and beyond to ensure that we also had a customer service experience that was exceptional as well. They expected the unexpected and even when the unexpected happened (my venue didn't provide enough wine glasses as I expected), Rocklands came to the rescue without hesitation! Now back to the food.......The food was so delicious that my guests are still talking about it almost two months later...and so much so that my family have visited Rocklands on a number of occasions after the wedding, including catering again for my birthday party. All in all, we were blown away in all areas and will be forever grateful for Rocklands enhancing my wedding experience...both for my husband and I as well as our guests ☺️!

Everything was wonderful, from start to finish and the folks who took care of the event were wonderful and so helpful and friendly. The food was wonderful especially the Mac & cheese, the baked beans and the apple cobbler!!! The only thing that was 100% great, was the bbq chicken was a little dry, but everything else was wonderful.

Truly a professional catering staff. From the visits on-site to the event, everything was done with an attention to detail that we appreciate and expect. The food was wonderful, and the team was responsive and flexible to our last minute requests. We opted for full-service catering and the entire staff took pride in our organization and site. The Catering staff who helped organize the event (Zach and Catherine) were excellent. Good communication, accommodating and they covered every detail.

The onsite staff (John Tan) and his team were outstanding. I would love to have them again in my home. They were incredible in their set up, their professionalism and their attentiveness. BRAVO!

Great food! Great service! Rocklands was affordable, flexible and easy to work with. Delivered when they said they would, called when traffic had them tied up and the service from catering/serving staff was excellent.

Food: AMAZING. Service: OUTSTANDING! They had people who made sure we, the bride and groom, were fed and had drinks whenever we wanted. I felt like a princess! Everything was absolutely incredible. From the setup to the servers, everything was exceptional. These people were amazing to work with! I was super pleased with their food at the tasting and then they were very on point with everything else! Constantly communicating with me with updates and changes or anything else unneeded. They continued to ask questions the week of the wedding to ensure they had everything ready for day of! Working via internet, phone and email, this backyard barbecue came together perfectly for a party of 40 people. Woodlands took care of rental equipment, staff, food and clean up.
The rental equipment arrived on time. The staff arrived as expected and they helped move our furniture and they set up for the party, which happened after a big summer storm. The skies cleared and everyone had a good time. My guests complimented the food as they were both enjoying it and days after the party too.

The staff and food were both AMAZING!!! The only criticism I have would be to bring table cloth clips for the tables as the table cloths kept flying off the tables despite efforts to tape them down with duct tape.

Rocklands managed to help us with a 400 person party on short notice. They were prompt, polite, helpful, professional, and a godsend. They set up, served 400, and cleared out in a short amount of time in a difficult setting, doing so well and in good spirits.

I loved using Rocklands as my caterer for my wedding. In the initial stages of planning my Husband and I knew that we wanted to have barbecue for food at our wedding. We got proposals from multiple caterers and then did tastings at a few. Rocklands blew the rest out of the water. The bonus was that they were a preferred cater at my venue so we didn't have to go through any extra steps to use them. They are super cool about you bringing in your own things so long as you notify them. We decided to go with personalized napkins and cups, provided our own desserts and brought in our own alcohol. Rocklands made sure everything that we brought was available to our guest. Our wedding planner was super impressed by their preparedness and ability to cohesively work with her. The best part was how our guests raved about the food!

We got quotes from several BBQ vendors for our graduation party, but we really liked Rocklands menu and the quick response and detailed quote we received from Becca. Also, Becca suggested and arranged for a tasting at the Alexandria location, and that sealed the deal for us. The food was excellent! Every person who had a hand in making our party a success was polite, professional and punctual. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the food and the service. John and Dario, who set up the buffet and served our guests for six hours, were praised by all and enabled my husband and I to relax and enjoy the day. We will most definitely consider Rocklands for our next event!

Rocklands catering staff did an excellent job from start to finish. Planning was easy and they were very sensitive to setting an appropriate tone for the theme of my party as well as offering ideas for set-up, decorations and space planning. They had a wide offering of serving pieces that they provided that provided a seamless and professional look at the party. The on-site staff during the party was exceptional. My husband and I booked Rocklands to cater our wedding back in January. From our initial tasting, to the day of, Rocklands was extremely professional and easy to communicate with. Their catering menu is quite vast (not just barbeque!) and they even prepared special plates for our vegetarian and vegan guests! Carmen handled our tasting and contract. She was very personable and readily brought us dishes we had not initially asked for during our tasting. She also quickly responded to my many questions and let us change our menu multiple times leading up to the big day. Rocklands also handled our rentals for the venue (i.e. tables, flatware, and linens). Wayland was present at our final walkthrough at the venue, and helped us decide on table layout for the buffet and reception. All of our guests commented on how great the service was and of course complimented the food! I highly recommend Rocklands Barbecue and Grilling Company for any catering event, but it was clear that they've done many weddings before! I was especially impressed at how smoothly the setup and flip for the reception went. I could not have been happier with their work!

Rocklands BBQ is five star. The team is terrific! The food is superb! It is always a pleasure to have this wonderful catering service in my home for a fun celebration. Working with Rocklands for our events makes my job so much easier and more enjoyable. They anticipate our needs, understand our guests and have amazing communication with everyone on our team. They bend over backwards to make sure no detail is over looked both in the planning process and on site. I will continue to work with Anne and Wayland on as many events as possible and as long as their service continues to meet all of our expectations.

Jeff, the Rocklands representative who was in charge of the event, was outstanding. He was there to carve and serve the pork, but stepped in and helped in many other areas. He was on time, organized, professional and just a pleasure to have at the party. Thanks so much for making our event memorable.

We ordered a 100 pound pig that was falling off the bone and perfectly smoked.

Catherine and her team were outstanding at our Senior Picnic. They made sure all the food was delivered and set in ample time, kept the food replenished and consolidated, and made sure that the used plates were picked up. We appreciate all Rocklands did to make our event a success!

Peter the server was fantastic. He showed up a few minutes early, and was a very hard worker--a professional. We not only received tons of comments about the delicious food, but also about how great a job that Peter was doing. Our guests were very delighted and impressed with Rocklands overall, and so were we!

Anna Chapman was wonderful to work with from start to finish. She was very helpful in planning our menu, and she was endlessly patient with our ever-increasing guest list. The grilling/serving team also did an excellent job. Despite the fact that extreme thunderstorms came through our area at exactly the wrong time, they managed to serve all of our guests a very delicious meal without any confusion or evidence of stress.

We used Rocklands to cater our Rehearsal Dinner and were thrilled with their services! We loved being able to use a company that was local and unique to DC. They were always responsive and helpful in answering all of our questions. The quality of food was fantastic and our guests loved the food. Overall, a great experience with Rocklands and would highly recommend to others!
