Isadora and Grace are truly the dream team. The venue is gorgeous, intimate, and has everything you could need. It's only an hour drive from the DC suburbs which was exactly what we were looking for. We went with their weekend package, so we held our rehearsal dinner here on Friday before our wedding as well and it worked out so perfectly. You get so much for your money when you pick Rixey. The entire Rixey team has your back throughout the entire process, with Isadora fearlessly leading. She's the real gem of this place. The wedding day itself was so wonderful and so much is due to the Rixey team. The day was beautiful, the manor was perfect, and we had a great party. Do yourselves a favor and pick Rixey for your wedding, you won't regret it. -

What an amazing manor and grounds. I can't say enough how well the Rixey Manor estate, owner/manager Isadora and the manor staff helped coordinate and support my daughter's wedding and reception. Working under a very short time schedule and across three different time zones - my daughter stationed in Italy and then in Japan, myself in San Diego, and the wedding event in Virginia - all required dedication, flexibility, prompt responses and superior follow-up. Isadora and Grace communicated and worked seamlessly with all the wedding vendors, assuring a well-timed and beautiful wedding ceremony. I truly appreciated the Rixey Manor work portal and detailed planning documents that helped me keep organized, updated and informed. And what an amazing place to have a wedding that offers such wonderful architecture. Thank you so much again. Anyone interested in holding an event at Rixey Manor is in excellent, competent hands. Rixey Manor was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the very beginning, the communication with the staff was clear, straight-forward, and friendly, which made the planning process so much easier. Isadora, our wedding coordinator and venue owner, was experienced and wonderful to work with - she relieved so much of the stress leading up to and on the day of our wedding by coordinating with our vendors and keeping us up-to-date on any changes. Isadora even created a helpful handbook to guide us through the planning. If I could get married again, I would choose Rixey Manor in a heartbeat. The staff was always willing to communicate with my parents to ensure everyone was on the same page, and they handled every curveball we threw their way with ease. On the day of, I was so relaxed because I knew Isadora and the team had everything under control. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and the overall value was wonderful. I highly recommend Rixey Manor to any couple planning their dream wedding. -

An Airbnb with a wedding venue attached.
We had a great experience with Rixey and for the context of this review we had a 150 person wedding a 48 person rehearsal dinner and a 120 person welcome party all at the manor.
Isadora feels like your kind neighbor who lends you her home for your wedding. There is no “fine print” she is very upfront about what you can and can’t do and she really does let the world be your oyster. She always feels like you’re talking to a real person and not a sales person. She will not hound you about anything and really is good at just making sure the big parts are taken care of as you wish and then she fields the small stuff.
The venue is a blank canvas. For me this was the best and worst part. The best part was we could do anything. The worst part was we could do anything and your mind changes so much in a year and a half. The home was built in the 1800s and you can use it as is, or dress it up. Rixey was SO kind to let us decorate or take down what they had in the house to let us feel like everything felt more like us.
My goals/ priorities going into wedding weekend were:
1. Be with people as much as possible
2. Flexibility
3. Be able to stay on the premise/ friends and family stay with us
4. Not be limited to an xx-hour timeline for the whole weekend where all your things need to be in and out by strict times.
5. Bring own vendors & alcohol (This saved us THOUSANDS, probably 10s of thousands actually.)
Rixey really got us with the “basically it’s an Airbnb with a wedding venue attached” and honestly it felt like just that.
I had spreadsheets of venues from PA/ MD/DC/VA and Rixey was the only venue we could have Thursday- Sunday, bring in all our own vendors & sleep 12-18 people on the premises. (ideally, we wanted to have more people on the premises, but such place does not exist in our price range) Everywhere else that could house more people were resorts or hotels that got you stuck into vendor packages that ate up your wedding budget like it was an appetizer.
Isadora brought us in gave us some vendors she used in the past and liked. Some worked very well for us, others were not our style and that’s okay! She is not offended in the least. She was able to give us $, $$, or $$$ she does not have any incentive to push any vendor on you. She tells you who she likes and it’s up to you, if you use them.
Her helpers- she has extra sets of hands, who again feel like friends and family of hers that help your wedding weekend go as planned, from filling up water jugs, to tapping beers, setting up tables, cleaning off tables, dishes, boxing or unboxing stuff, giving out tips, making our bud vases. We literally just handed her the boxes of things on Thursday and they were all set up by Friday at the rehearsal dinner.

The BEST of the Best
Rixey Manor was an absolute dream come true! My husband and I got married in July 2024 and their whole team was professional and personal from start to finish! We could not have imagined our best day happening anywhere else - from the small and intimate details of the house to the beautiful landscape surrounding it - it was a perfect oasis for what turned out to be a perfect day.
The entire team was focused on our vision for the day and worked closely with our vendors. We relied on their expertise through the entire wedding planning process and they are there to support you in all aspects of your marriage. We could not recommend them more and we are so grateful that Rixey Manor is forever part of our story. -

We recently had our Indian-American fusion wedding at Rixey Manor, and it was beyond perfect! From the stunning grounds to the exceptional service (and even a double rainbow), every detail was beautifully executed. A special shoutout to Isadora and Grace, who were absolute lifesavers on our wedding day. Their coordination was flawless, and they handled all the unexpected things that came up with such grace and professionalism.
The Rixey Manor team also made sure that everyone staying on the grounds was well taken care of, even providing snacks, which was such a thoughtful touch. They were flexible and quick to help reorganize our rehearsals when our plans changed last minute. While weddings come with their stresses, the team at Rixey Manor was instrumental in helping manage everything with ease and care. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team to make our special day unforgettable. Highly recommend Rixey Manor! -

Where do I even begin?… The Rixey Manor team was the absolute best. I just got married there this week and it was a dream come true. The venue itself is gorgeous but the team at Rixey Manor is something so special. Isadora and Grace took away all of the stress me and my now husband had. They made me feel so cared for and so important. They went above and beyond to make me, my husband & our families feel like royalty. Everyone kept mentioning to us how impressed they were at how professional and thoughtful Isadora and Grace are.
Isadora made sure that I felt important and helped me with absolutely everything that day. She completely took charge of the day and all me and my husband had to do was show up.
My 2nd dress strap kept breaking and Isadora was always there fixing it and she always did it graciously.
I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people on my wedding day.
The Rixey team is honestly a bunch of very special people who genuinely love what they do and they show so much love to the bride and groom. I also want to add that they were so attentive, caring and helpful when it came to my parents who both have a disability.
I can go on for hours about how much I appreciate and legitimately care about Isadora and Grace.
These people make dreams come true and my husband and I, along with our families are so grateful for them. -

The best venue anyone could ask for! Isadora and her team (Grace, Adam, and all the rest of the crew) demonstrated not only the highest levels of professionalism and talent, they were also so welcoming, easy-going, and fun. We were sold when we first laid eyes on the venue itself, but after meeting with Isadora, this team deserves to be in the pantheon of the all-time greatest wedding vendors. The Rixey team knocked it out of the park during our wedding weekend AND they were crucial resources throughout our planning process. From their excellent organization skills to their bridal bootcamp events, this team helped us to feel so confident and secure going into our wedding. Our wedding party also loved staying at the manor, and it's all thanks to Rixey's amazing team. We cannot recommend them enough! -

Book Rixey for your wedding weekend!!
Rixey Manor was an absolute dream venue. From the moment we came for a tour, we knew that we wanted to get married there. The venue is private, gorgeous, and unlike anything else we'd seen, but it's the people at Rixey who truly make it worth every penny.
Throughout the planning process, Isadora (the venue manager) was incredibly organized and made the process much less stressful. Her team has years of experience and were able to give advice and insights on the entire process - including how much alcohol to buy, how to schedule the day so it ran smoothly, and even extra decorations on the property that we were able to use cost-free. They have a helpful Google template that served as the brain trust of our wedding operation - it had tabs for nearly every aspect of the whole weekend, and we shared it with all of our vendors to plan the day. Rixey even has an annual "Bridal Bootcamp" where couples can come and learn about the planning process from their recommended vendors and spend time at Rixey. They go above and beyond for their couples.
But Rixey and its staff truly shined on our wedding weekend. A major advantage of booking Rixey is that you get access to the venue for the entire weekend. We can't understate how wonderful it was to arrive and set up Friday, be able to wake up at the venue on Saturday, and then go to sleep there after partying the night away and have brunch with our loved ones on Sunday. We got so many compliments on how seamless the weekend ran and how gorgeous and unique of a venue Rixey is. It is truly its own private space, and you can feel its intimacy reflected in your whole day.
We were able to truly relax and enjoy the weekend, because Isadora and her team took care of everything. Isadora is a superhuman and listened so intently, arranged every decoration, and handled every vendor interaction for us so that we could be fully present and enjoy the weekend. That, in itself, is a gift we will treasure forever.
Bottom line is, if you'd like a special, one-of-a-kind venue that your guests will love, with staff that will make you feel relaxed, present, and prepared, and gives you results like these pics, book Rixey! -

Gorgeous Venue
Rixey Manor could not have been a more magnificent venue for my daughter's wedding! Isadora, Grace, and Adam saw to every detail, making us feel warm, welcomed and confident as we began our chaotic weekend. Their graciousness, efficiency and professionalism de-stressed the entire wedding! The Manor, the scenery and the staff were simply amazing! This venue is the most gorgeous place you can possibly get married. We stayed the whole weekend which was so relaxing for getting ready purposes. Isadora and her team made everything flow effortlessly and we didn’t have to lift a finger decorating. The views are amazing and you have so many options for ceremony and cocktail hour sites.

We absolutely loved working with Rixey! They are truly the best. They went so above and beyond to make our day special, thinking through so many little details for us. They provided resources leading up the wedding including recommending other incredible vendors and a whole planning handbook. They only do one wedding per weekend and having that extra time to settle in and set up was invaluable to minimizing our stress. Their on-site coordinator is included and having a coordinator who is intimately familiar with the venue and could lead our vendor team was so incredibly helpful. Isadora and her team work hard to make each wedding unique and are super accomodating. They let couples use anything in their (quite extensive) decor collection and even coordinated a hot chocolate bar, blankets, and hand warmers for our unseasonably cold wedding. We really can't recommend them highly enough, especially as a queer, polyamorous couple having a jewish ceremony. If you're looking to have a personalized, homey feel for your big day and are considering Rixey Manor, book them ASAP!! -

Our wedding at Rixey Manor was the most special weekend of our lives, and so much of that is thanks to Quaid and the rest of the venue staff who made it possible. They have dozens of amazing vendors to recommend who they’ve worked with extensively, making all of our venue-vendor interactions completely seamless. The venue itself is beautiful and was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony of our dreams. We loved that there were opportunities for guests (in our case, our wedding party and our dog/ringbearer) to stay together at the manor over the weekend. It’s rare to find a venue such as Rixey which offers you both complete flexibility and enough support to make all of the right choices for your wedding. Can’t recommend it highly enough! -

We had an elopement here, customer service was amazing, the owner was so nice and so helpful. I basically went in, not knowing what I was going to do. He took care of the important things (my walking down the isle music, the venue set up … etc) My family couldn’t stop tally about how kind everyone was! Weddings are stressful but I am so happy and so grateful I found this venue because they did everything to my our micro wedding/ elopement feel ahhmazing!! The venue, absolutely beautiful and not to mention it snowed the day prior but somehow by the time I was supposed to get married, all the snow had melted. Everything felt like a dream. I had basically picked Rixey before my now husband and I had even visited. I saw pictures of the venue and instantly thought that this could be "it". We only visited two vendors and still my mind was made up. I couldn't have asked for more with Rixey Manor. After COVID restrictions messed up our original wedding date of November 2020, the Rixey team worked with us to reschedule a new date at no extra cost to us. With everything onsite, it was perfect. I absolutely LOVE Rixey Manor. It made all my dreams come true. Thanks to Quaid and the rest of the team, our "re-do" wedding was the most perfect day. I even cried the next morning when I had to leave it all behind! Quaid, Soup, and everyone else on the Rixey team, thank you for EVERYTHING you guys did. You and the Manor will always have a place in our hearts. -

I was part of the bridal party for a wedding at Rixey Manor this weekend and was blown away but the incredible venue, staff, and service. I have been part of over ten weddings and this was the first venue that made the entire weekend feel special (even though other venues have also had us stay for the weekend). Each detail was attended to, the staff was experienced, and every part of the schedule ran on time without ever feeling rushed. From what I saw this was all thanks to the incredibly talented on-site planner, Quaid. It takes a ton of work to make a weekend like this look and feel easy.

Simply Magical!
Rixey Manor was everything and more! From the beautiful manor and spectacular grounds to the exquisite support from Quaid Coxsey, wedding planner. No detail too small, an extensive Rolodex of exceptional vendors and Quaid’s commitment to having us have the most amazing wedding day truly made it magical! We stayed on property with family and pups which made it even more special as we all could celebrate and prepare together. Accommodations in Culpeper for guests were spectacular too. If you are looking for a unique country setting in Virginia horse country and close to airports this is your venue! -

We had the absolute best experience having our wedding at Rixey Manor. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous but the staff and Wedding Coordinator, Quaid, are what make the biggest difference compared to other venues. From start to finish Quaid and the Rixey team is there to help you plan and execute the wedding of your dreams. I was able to be so relaxed and enjoy the moment because I knew everything else was being taken care of on the day of. We opted to rent the Manor for the full weekend and had our rehearsal dinner and brunch there as well. Everything went off without a hitch and everyone at the manor was so kind and accommodating. If you want a stress free and perfect wedding day, book with Rixey. Highly recommend and you won't regret it. -

Rixey Manor was the absolute perfect wedding venue for me and my husband. Yes the location and house and landscapes are amazing, but it's the people that work there that make your dreams come true. Mary, Grace, Ben, Isadora, and the rest of the staff made sure that the weekend was perfect and we were not worrying about anything. We met with them multiple times over the year before the wedding and they were always willing to set aside time to answer our questions and provide guidance. Their experience is invaluable, thinking of every little thing you don't know you don't know and making sure you are ready. It truly felt like we were working with family and we know we made lifelong friends in the process. Simply put, they are all amazing human being who have the most beautiful venue and ensure the day is 100% reflective of the couple and what they want out of their weekend. The 3 day experience and having close family and friends staying on site is invaluable and really lets you take everything in and experience special moments around the actual wedding. We cannot recommend this amazing group of people enough (we went to a wedding there a year prior and fell in love and never considered another venue after experiencing it as a guest). -

Rixey Manor was the perfect venue for my husband’s and my wedding. From the moment we saw the venue itself, we knew it was the one for us! We loved the rustic and charming vibe it has, which we thought would be perfect for a Fall wedding. Ben and Isadora, as well as Mary and Grace, were also wonderful to work with and made us feel like family over the months we were in touch with them while preparing for our big day. We especially loved the fact that we had the venue to ourselves for the whole wedding weekend and were able to stay there after the rehearsal dinner and after the wedding reception. Just be aware that due to the historic nature of the venue, you may come across a leaky pipe - my husband mentioned a leaking pipe and a noisy AC-heater unit that sounded as though it was dripping in the groomsmen’s cottage, which kept him up the night before the wedding. Nevertheless, it offers a variety of places to hold the wedding ceremony, depending on the amount of guests and the weather. Isadora was especially helpful at problem-solving and keeping things moving during the big day. We were unaware of any minor mishaps until the next morning since Isadora was able to run interference and get it resolved without issue. If there was anything big that came up, she would not only approach us in a professional manner about it, but would also offer viable solutions as options, which helped alleviate any stress it could’ve caused. We also really liked how they offer an annual wedding boot camp to help couples understand how the venue operates and also gives couples an opportunity to meet some of the vendors they have worked with, even though they do not partner with any vendors in particular, allowing couples to choose whichever vendors they’d like. This is one of the beneficial and unique aspects that you won’t find at any other venue. If you do book Rixey, we highly recommend attending the boot camp since it gives you many helpful insights into having a successful wedding there. Essentially, you end up receiving valuable information that you would’ve paid a wedding planner for. They also have a handbook that has a lot of helpful information in planning your wedding. Also, Rixey’s staff will readily assist couples in reviewing vendor contracts, which may overwhelm and confuse people that may not know what they’re looking for. Lastly, they have a small cottage with a lot of items that past couples have either donated or left behind for other couples to use, which certainly comes in handy since you wouldn’t have to rent/buy it elsewhere. Overall, my husband and I were happy with our choice. They are definitely worth selecting, and you won’t regret it! -

We couldn't be happier with Isadora and Ben. After touring other venues that focused on the limitations or requirements of the venue, Isadora and Ben asked us what we envisioned for our wedding day. They asked us guided questions to figure out what we really wanted and then provided feedback/vendor recommendations based on our answers. Isadora even pointed out most of the photos we liked in Rixey Manor's photo albums were taken by the same photographer. This saved us so much time during the photographer search, and we hadn't even signed a contract with Rixey Manor!
Isadora and Ben were very helpful and very accommodating in the year leading up to our wedding. Since both of our families live out of state, Isadora and Ben let us tour Rixey Manor with our families on multiple occasions when they were in Virginia. The Rixey Manor bootcamp, Facebook group, and planning documents took so much stress out of the planning process, and Isadora and Ben were always quick to respond to any questions.
The weekend of our wedding, Isadora and Ben were so calm and prepared for anything. They managed all of the vendors and deliveries, they made sure we followed the timeline, and they always checked in with us to make sure we were happy with everything. Choosing Rixey Manor was the best decision we made in the entire wedding planning process. Not only do you get a great venue, but you also get Isadora and Ben who will do everything in their power to give you the perfect wedding. -

Venue with a Heart
We had our families travel from out of state to Rixey Manor because we saw something special there that we didn’t see anywhere else. It is a truly unique venue with a stunning backdrop and historic charm, run by two incredible people. We had our wedding here June 2019 and didn’t want to leave. Ben and Isadora are amazing at what they do. They kept the event running smoothly, gracefully handled any mishaps along the way, and still found time to check in on us frequently throughout the evening. They had our back when we forgot to order linens for the rehearsal dinner. The planning process was very well organized. They have weddings down to a science, but are flexible in allowing couples to express themselves. As many before me have mentioned, their Facebook group connecting past and future couples was an indispensable tool, and so was their handbook and bootcamp. They are truly invested in their couples. No other vendor went to such lengths to make us happy. Even the bartenders did more than serve drinks, they kept our guests entertained as well. You just don’t get an experience like this anywhere else. They offer so many things other venues just do not, and their personal, caring approach sets them apart from the rest. -

We fell in love with Rixey Manor, Ben, and Isadora immediately. The venue is flexible and gorgeous, satisfied all our needs for the weekend, and all our guests were comfortable. I fell in love with Rixey Manor when I first laid eyes on the property back when the grounds were still covered in snow. Even still, the venue was so beautiful. It was the first and only venue we visited and we signed the contract the next week. Not only does the venue have 360 degrees of gorgeous views, it also comes with the BEST. COORDINATORS. EVER. Isadora, Ben, and Mary are so kind and are truly invested in giving the best experience to each couple they book. Isadora was available to help me from the time we booked up until we said our goodbyes after the wedding. The week of the wedding, I passed the baton over to Isadora and all the weight was lifted off my shoulders. They took care of EVERYTHING. She even called around the day of the wedding to look for last minute vendors because I had forgotten to order NAPKINS (oops). Whatever vision you have for your wedding, Rixey Manor can do it and they will help you through it. -

We looked and looked and looked for a venue. We stumbled across Rixey via Google and instantly called and spoke with Isadora. We loved what we saw and booked without actually seeing the venue! We had a tour via Skype but did not see it u til January. Our wedding was in April.
It was that amazing.
Working from states away to plan was fun and stressful at times. Isadora and Ben are amazing! They knew what to say, how to calm me down, how to help with logistics and so much more! Boot camp was amazing! We learned so much and got to finally meet the team in person. You couldn't ask for better planners who become family!
We made the journey up from Florida Tuesday and Friday we basically moved into Rixey for the weekend.
It was amazing, beyond our imaginations and dreams. Everyone had so much fun and loved the venue! All of our vendors were AMAZING!! 💕 We literally had nothing but excitement and "ah" from all of the guests! ☺️
Isadora and Ben made our lives so much easier. We had a setback, but they handled it so well, and allowed us to enjoy our wedding and time with friends and family, despite the issue.

From the moment we first sat down with Ben and Isadora, my husband and I knew that this was where we wanted to start the next chapter of our lives together. After exploring a number of other venues in the area, it was refreshing to meet with owners that truly give you their full attention and take the time to understand your vision for the wedding. We came away from our first appointment with a full list of vendor recommendations (many of whom were present on our special day) and excited to secure a date, rather than dreading putting down a deposit.
Ben and Isadora went above and beyond throughout the planning process, from putting us in touch with vendors to providing templates and tools to help me stay organized. They even host a “Bridal Bootcamp” at the beginning of each year where former brides and grooms gather to share tips and tricks for making the most of your special day.
When it came to the actual wedding weekend, Isadora not only ran an effective ceremony rehearsal for us, she woke up at 1:00 a.m. the day before the wedding (!!) to check in on my not-feeling-so great fiancé. When the catering company made some missteps early on, Ben was in the kitchen making sure the rest of the night went smoothly. When my dress bustle was preventing me from enjoying the reception to the fullest, Isadora pulled out a beautiful WHOLE NEW BACKUP WEDDING DRESS for me to wear.
I really cannot say enough positive things about Rixey Manor. I am so glad we drove a little bit further from Washington, DC to visit on that first day. My parents and my guests have told me that Rixey has a magical quality to it, and it’s true. It’s what happens when you pair a beautiful setting with compassionate, dedicated, honest, and extremely proficient people. Thank you for helping me have the best first day of my life with my husband. -

We looked at so many venues a but we were drawn to Rixey because of the directness and warmth of Ben and Isadora. I am so glad we trusted our instincts because they were helpful throughout the whole process. On the day of the wedding I was shocked by how Isadora put everything together in a way that was uniquely my vision...but better! They really did make sure everything ran smoothly. The venue itself is gorgeous and nothing beats waking up to the view in the bridal suite. I felt like a princess and every detail of the weekend was magical. Don't hesitate to choose Rixey Manor for your special day.

Melissa Sent on 10/12/2018I don’t have words to describe how awesome Rixey Manor, Isadora, and Ben are for everything they do. Of all the choices I made during our wedding planning, Rixey is the best choice I made. We got married in May of 2018 and they have added the outside patio so I can’t speak to that (I haven’t been back yet), but I’m sure it is wonderful because it has that gorgeous view. The most important thing for me was that it our wedding was someplace comfortable.
When I went to find my dress, I jokingly told the lady the theme of our wedding was “comfortable and maybe has pockets?” I didn’t think I was serious but that was true to me and my husband and actually ended up being the unofficial theme.
Our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was and how comfortable they were the whole weekend. One of the most common questions we got was “Who’s house is this?” because it felt like we were just having a very very elegant backyard wedding weekend at someone’s house that happened to have an ballroom and a rooftop deck.
The Manor looks like Pinterest and Instagram had a glorious baby just for weddings. It checked off all the boxes of being big enough for everyone to not feel crowded but small enough that you get to see everyone. It had a place for all of the bridal party to stay and get ready. We weren’t locked into any vendors (we had a lot of allergies). It had sweeping views of nature. A small lake and rolling pastures in the front, Blue Ridge mountains in the back, and an elegant manor house in the middle. In a word it was perfect.
Even better, you get to have Isadora and Ben. They have seen it all and are prepared to guide you through any issue that arises in the months, weeks, hours before or during your wedding. Ben personally watched over our shih tzu when my parents needed a break and Isadora’s 007 moves are some of my favorite memories. Choosing to go see Rixey was the best decision I made because once I saw Rixey, there was no place that stood a chance

Cindy Sent on 10/02/2018My daughter and her fiance' wanted get married in Virginia so that all our family could make it to the wedding. They were looking for a certain place that offered beauty, charm, freedom, flexibility, and uniqueness. They found it in Rixey! The venue is beautiful but not ostentatious; it is at once charming and cozy, and yet so elegant. I felt at home the minute I crossed the threshold into the lovingly restored old manor house. We never felt like we were being handled at a business. We felt we were house guests who were having a huge party, and that Isadora had all the answers and solutions that we were looking for. Not only can the bride and groom stay in the manor, but their wedding party also -- from the many nicely appointed bedrooms in the house to the grooms cottage next door, there is plenty of room for all, it lends itself to more bridal party bonding and closeness for the special day. Isadora and Ben are welcoming, experienced, intuitive and so very flexible. I would say this is the place where every couple truly knows their event is uniquely "them". We visited so many venues before seeing Rixey -- at the other places, we felt restricted and lost. With Rixey, what you see is what you get -- from the sparkly chandeliers in the ballroom, to the lovely urns that hold the floral arrangements, to the beautiful front lawn setting, to the beautiful deck, and now the stunning back patio -- it is all part of the package. The rustic bar inside the house is fun and completely unique, and lends itself to being a great photo booth and gathering area. Isadora and Ben did a phenomenal job at making sure the couple's vision came to fruition...offering their expertise and support every step of the way without being overbearing or making them fit into a mold. From help with vendors to timelines and orchestrating the schedule, to fixes for last minute glitches, they were absolutely, truly amazing. Perfectly elegant venue, wonderful couple with whom to work.

The Manor has so much historic charm as well as the feeling of absolute coziness that I felt brought comfort to a time that can be so very stressful! I LOVED the fact that we had Rixey exclusively for our use all weekend. We had almost all of our guests come from out of town, so it was an amazing venue to have everyone gather for multiple events together over the weekend. I also loved the fact that they had indoor and outdoor options for the ceremony/reception. The scenery around the Manor is breathtaking, and I don't even know where to begin about the amazing couple that makes every wedding run so flawlessly! Isadora and Ben are incredible people who live life doing what they love and it shows in their true dedication to making their couples over the moon happy. They always have an open door and are very quick with responses. They give the best recommendations for vendors along the way, but are also accepting of outside vendors too. We went with all of their recommendations for our wedding vendors and I couldn't imagine a more perfect day! From the planning process, to booking vendors, to timeline prep, and every other little (and big) things along the way, they are so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING wedding related, and they know exactly how to handle every situation that comes about and answer every question. They come up with quick solutions when something on the day of doesn't go as planned (like when it started pouring as soon as the guests were taking their seats and everyone had to run onto the front porch, so we opened the bar and everyone grabbed a drink while we waited for the rain to stop), make light of the situation, and keep everything else going on track. Our experience at Rixey Manor was absolutely incredible and there is no doubt that every couple will have their dream come true wedding here!

Ben and Isadora did a phenomenal job making sure that everything went as planned. If anyone were to ask me about what is essential and needed for a successful wedding day, I'd simply say "Isadora and Ben." They helped me plan, never steered me wrong, kept me calm and helped our day flow perfectly. All of their vendor recommendations are excellent. They captured my vision for the day exactly. They helped me execute every detail and idea that I wanted. They made our wedding day what it was. We had a lot of family travel from overseas to our wedding and everyone left absolutely stunned by the beauty and uniqueness of the manor. We were even able to include our new fur baby (8month old collie lab mix) in on the weekend and Isadora helped looked after him as well. I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity of being married at Rixey Manor and promise that you will not regret the decision to do so as well. -
Laura Sent on 10/13/2017Choosing this venue was absolutely, positively the best decision we made for our wedding. The main reason we picked Rixey was the huge amount of flexibility in planning (date flexibility for my dad's health, we could choose our own caterer) and Isadora and Ben's love of animals (our dog could stay in the Manor and be in the ceremony!) The beauty of the Manor and the view of the mountains were the cherry on top, along with the super reasonable price! When you book Rixey, you not only get a venue, but you get a wedding planner too! We tailored our packed wedding (the busiest at Rixey) to include a horse drawn carriage, a lion dance, and more! Every moment was filled with events, and Isadora helped me plan all the logistics! Isadora will also make sure you have the perfect wedding (for you and your fiance, not anyone else), and she even volunteers to be the "bad guy" if family members ask why rules have been made (ie. not allowing kids to the reception, etc). Ben ensures that their business is always innovating with the brand new groomsmen house and they're working on other great things too now, like their online guide of FAQ's! I almost wish I could get married again there since this already stellar venue is still constantly improving! Ben and Isadora (B&I) are also super practical, providing an inventory of wedding items left by past brides (I used quite a few things for my own wedding, and left much of my own things behind for future Rixey brides!) Becoming a couple of Rixey is also long lasting. Not only do you have a Facebook community to ask brides and B&I questions, but they also host annual holiday parties for all past and future Rixey couples! Finally, Isadora is a great counselor before and during the wedding. I found out afterward that she even calmed down my mom the day of the wedding, and she and Ben understood our challenges with my dad and his terminal illness. My husband and I now consider Ben & Isadora our friends. Don't wait. Book today!

When we were looking for a wedding venue we wanted something truly special, we have very close immediate families and a lot of family from out the country and across the globe so it was very important to us to have as much quality time with those people as possible during our wedding - so of course, we wanted an entire wedding weekend. On top of this I had a vision of exactly what I wanted - eclectic romantic vibe in a laid back atmosphere, we wanted our dog to be included and my husband wanted to be outdoors. When I read about Rixey Manor it seemed too good to be true but on meeting Isadora and Ben who own and run the venue (having renovated it themselves and gotten married there!) I knew immediately that this was the only place we could get married, and now I can confidently say it was the absolute best decision I made! Ben and Isadora are built-in venue operators, planners, vendor liasons, etc. An all in one package - heck - they even run a wedding bootcamp for their couples to teach them the little things you could never think to prepare for (i.e. how to cut a cake with relative grace when everyone you know is watching). They are so so special and completely helped put my Type A mind at ease throughout the process. The venue is absolutely gorgeous as is but, if you are like me and have a vision, they will work with you to create exactly that and you can make it SO personal and special. We had our engagement photos on canvases, photo collages, meaningful momentos, etc. throughout the manor during our weekend and our guests absolutely loved it. We got married on September 2nd and had always feared it would be too hot - well - the day rolled around and it was downright chilly - never fear though Isadora and Ben were prepared with blankets and a hot chocolate bar for our guests! Our immediate families stayed in the house all weekend and had a wonderful time together, everything about our weekend was perfect!!

Jeff Sent on 06/20/2016We cannot say enough amazing things about Rixey Manor. Our guests are still complimenting us on how awesome of a venue it was. Ben and Isadora are absolutely amazing! They go above and beyond to make you and all of your guests feel welcome and special. The atmosphere at Rixey Manor is all about being together with your family. Which is one of the reasons we fell in love with it. We really liked that there wasn’t a 4 or 6 hour time limit on the manor. We also liked that it was all ours for the whole weekend. You didn’t hear the music from another wedding across the hall, like at most hotels. We loved the intimacy of the manor, its like we were inviting all of our family and friends into our home. Our wedding was November 7th, 2015 and it was a little chilly that day. Isadora had a hot chocolate bar set up for our guests when we got back from the church. It wasn’t something that we asked for at all, it was just something she does when it’s cold out. Our guest LOVED it! It felt like our reception never ended. The guests that wanted to leave, left on the shuttles and the ones who wanted to stay longer and dance more did! We gave Isadora and Ben all the details of our wedding and they make sure it was exactly how you want it. We love that we didn’t have to worry about anything, we knew that they had everything under control. If you get married at Rixey Manor you join the Rixey family and its just fantastic! -

Jonalyn Sent on 09/07/2015Isadora & Ben were a godsend. We looked at 12 different venues before selecting Rixey. When we visited, the ballroom & the rooftop terrace weren't even constructed yet, & we were actually their first booking! Their website was still a single page, and even though we were looking at nothing but dirt & an empty backyard, after looking at 12 different venues beforehand, we knew that this was it. Every venue we had looked at all looked the same, but from how the sitting room at Rixey exuded elegance to the clawfoot tubs in each room, we knew that their vision would align right with ours. And we were right.
We visited post-renovation, & the ballroom & rooftop terrace that overlooked the mountains were stunning. Sunset at Rixey Manor is not to be missed. We loved the feel of the house and Isadora and Ben were marvelous. On the day of our wedding, I seriously did not worry about anything. I felt so taken care of -- from bringing me anything I needed (including snacks from the kitchen) & literally doing everything for me. To be honest, Isadora knew my timeline better than I did.
She did an amazing job with making sure everything started on time; I was extremely surprised when my ceremony started right at 6:30 and how everything was already set up, & all my guests were there (usually, in my experience, weddings always start late). When it came down to the end of the night with drunken guests and sparklers, you need someone like Isadora to make sure everyone is where they need to be.
To top that off, they made extra accommodations for last-minute guests at the house and served us all homemade, delicious breakfast the next morning!
Honestly, Isadora and Ben get so much credit for their hospitality and accommodating spirits. They are truly in this to see the bride and groom happy, & I could not have been any happier on my wedding day. Please do yourself a favor and check out their house. They will no doubt take care of you like their own family. -

In a million years, I would never regret our decision to have our wedding at Rixey Manor! The whole experience from my first walk-through to breakfast the morning after was a dream. Ben and Isadora are THE BEST venue owners/operators. I'm not over-exaggerating here! They really are! They are over-the-top helpful, kind, loving, courteous, and professional. Not only are both of them perfectly equipped to run Rixey, but what really blew me away was their genuine passion - they love what they do. Love it, love it, LOVE it and it shines through in their words and actions! They treated us like cherished family, and did everything they could to make their wedding day visions come to life. They worked with us on everything. It's because of Ben and Isadora that our wedding was as fantastic as it was! "Above and beyond" is really all I can say. I feel that after all was said and done, we left with two new friends.
Having the opportunity to spend two nights at Rixey over our wedding weekend was a huge blessing as well. We were able to settle in and relax, which made the whole experience that much happier and memorable. It wasn't just a wedding, it was a retreat.
And to top it all off, the place is absolutely gorgeous! From the views of the lake and the mountains to the quaint bedrooms and stunning ballroom off the back... perfect. Just perfect. -

Ben and Isadora make everything so easy and are great to have around to throw ideas off of, ask questions, and for day-of help. As an event planner myself, I wanted to make sure I found a venue that allowed for my custom wedding but was laid back! Rixey Manor is beautiful, has the charm of the VA Countryside, and the sunset is breathtaking.
From start to finish, it was perfect and it is all thanks to Ben and Isadora! They were flexible in allowing us to cook our own rehearsal dinner since my now husband is a chef, bring in food trucks for our wedding meal, and even have Slapshot (Capitals Mascot) at the wedding as a surprise to my husband! If you are thinking about Rixey Manor as your wedding venue, DO IT! -
