You know when you meet someone and you can tell they’re doing exactly what they are meant to be doing? That’s Allison from Ringed. My fiancée and I made her engagement ring together with Allison this past summer. It was important to us to find a local and woman-owned business, in addition to one using ethical jewelry practices. Our Ringed experience was exactly what we wanted and more. Allison saw our vision and we ended up with an incredible ring that holds a lot of wonderful memories. Allison’s studio is intimate and adorable and she herself is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to metalsmithing and gemology. Being able to say we made our ring is the coolest. Thanks Allison for everything you do! -

My partner and I wanted to have a unique experience regarding our wedding rings to make them feel special and not just like something we picked out in a store. WOW does Allison deliver! I was quite nervous as neither of us (my partner nor I) has a gift for the visual arts, and I was worried we wouldn't be able to design/create something incredible. But Allison assured us that we would, and I just adore what we created. I told my partner I wanted a fantasy/lord of the rings inspired ring and our rings are just beautiful, they look like interlocking leaves. I was surprised at how much we were really able to do everything ourselves - Allison tells you everything to do and can do some touches but it really feels like we 100% designed and carved our rings from start to finish. I know that no one has rings that look like ours and it was so fun and special to create them together. This was the beginning of our engagement and it made it so special. It was such a pleasure to spend all that time together with Allison too as she is a kick ass person! I would do this 1000x over. -

My only difficulty with writing this review is that 5 stars is woefully few and Allison deserves many more than are available. Seriously, my wife and I had such an incredible experience making our wedding rings together. We were greeted, each day, with an excellent cup of coffee, tea, some form of mouth watering confection, and an invitational smile. Alison’s knowledge, expertise, willingness to answer any question, and passion for her craft makes her the perfect guide to lead you through the intricacies of this process. Though we had little to no experience, we weren’t treated so, but rather encouraged to explore the art, and craft rings that are unique to our vision and our personalities. I was going to say that you can’t pay for this kind of meaningful experience but you can! And you should. A store bought ring twice as expensive would pale in comparison to what Alison and Ringed helped create for us. Truely, thank you. -

Ringed - 110% recommend
Allison with Ringed was a godsend to us. She was recommended by a mutual friend, and we cannot say enough amazing things about our experience working with her. From day one, her communication was clear, easy to understand, and we never had to wait too long for a response, even given her busy schedule. Her knowledge was invaluable, and she provided us with suggestions along the way since we had no clue what we were doing. We came with to her with an idea, and she delivered ten-fold. We are ecstatic with the final products and have her to thank for it. Allison, you are an amazing human, inside and out, and we are so thankful to have come across you and Ringed! -

Perfectly Personalized Experience
We cannot possibly think of a better way to get engaged! We're a male/female couple and early on we knew that we both wanted to wear rings during our engagement. I (female partner) looked at traditional engagement rings with stones, but couldn't see myself wearing one. We decided to find bands, but nothing we found was exactly what we were looking for. Then, we found Ringed and realized we could make our own bands exactly as we wanted them! The consultation with Allison sealed it for us. She was so excited that we wanted to create engagement bands together and immediately jumped in to figure out how to make our design a reality. We received impeccable communication leading up to our workshop and when we arrived, it was to a warm, smiling Allison, coffee, and pretzel croissants from the local bakery. We spent the day laughing, swapping book titles, and telling stories while soldering, sanding, and polishing the perfect rings for us. PLUS, when I texted Allison the next morning to say that I had worn my ring all evening and it felt just a touch too tight, she told us to come on over and immediately resized it for me so it fit like a second skin! Everything about this experience was perfect and we couldn't be happier or prouder to wear our rings! -

Amazing Experience
From the moment I zoomed with Allison about making my partner’s engagement ring. She answered all my questions and really brought my vision to life. I really appreciated her attention to detail and her dedication to recycled materials and ethical sourcing. She encouraged me to buy an extra moss agate stone for the ring in case of wear or tear. Her attention to detail was amazing and I feel so lucky that i found her business. I couldn’t thank her enough for creating the perfect engagement ring for the love of my life! -

Cannot recommend Allison and her studio enough. Any couple who wants an experience beyond picking out a ring MUST see Allison. From the getgo, Allison was focused on delivering us unique rings that were just the way we had envisioned them. In the actual creation of the rings, Allison provides enough oversight and direction that you can feel confident in what you are doing without getting over involved. You really put a part of yourself in these rings. My fiancee and I made our rings for each other, and this experience became cornerstone to our engagement. I am so proud to wear the BEAUTIFUL rings that WE made together. Thank you so much Ringed!!! -

The best, but better
Birds fly, trees grow, fish swim, and Allison smiths. Upon meeting with her, we knew our forever rings were to be forged by one of the best. And boom bada bing, they're beautiful! We opted for simple brushed bands; she created two timeless and elegant pieces. And did I mention she uses sustainable materials like recycled gold? I definitely didn't, but I should've sooner as it was one of the reason we sought her out! Highly recommend Allison and Ringed for all your treasure making needs. -

We absolutely loved our ring-making workshop with Allison. We learned so much, had a ton of fun, worked hard, and at the end of the day we left with beautiful rings that have a great story behind them.
We talked to Allison over zoom before our workshop and she was so helpful giving us recommendations and advice and letting us know what to expect. I love that she made sure to check that we're vaccinated and confirmed that she was too, and we all wore masks while we were in her studio so I felt totally safe.
The experience of making wedding rings for each other was so special and we both agree it's one of our favorite things we did as part of our wedding process.

We designed and created wax molds for our wedding bands, and Allison created the engagement ring. We were nervous about the process - weren’t sure we could do it, but Allison gave us all the instruction and help we needed. When we saw the completed rings they were everything we had hoped for, fit perfectly and were beautiful. Now we have beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind rings along with our wonderful memories of the whole experience.

I can't say enough amazing things about Ringed! I had been recommended from a friend who had worked with Allison on her husbands wedding band a few years back. So, I already had a feeling my ring session with Allison was going to be amazing. I knew Allison is a magical jewelry master who is a wizard with in depth knowledge and skill of metal, tools, and all that goes into making unique, one-of-a kind jewelry pieces.
I had contacted her to set up a secret ring session where I had an idea to create and surprise my husband with a new wedding band for our 5 year wedding anniversary. Oh, and I of course wanted to create a new band for myself. :) Allison was beyond thrilled and up for turning my idea into reality!
What made my session with Allison so special is her warm, comforting, kind, and inspiring words filled with so much love and support. The way she talked me through each step made me feel at ease with the tools and comforted knowing that I could create something very special for my husband. Throughout the session we had deep conversations about love and life. I knew that so much love was in the space with Allison at Ringed. Not only were my hands creating this piece but she helped me put heart into the rings.
I surprised my husband with his ring this past weekend while on the coast celebrating our anniversary. He immediately was brought to tears by the sight of me getting down on my knee. More tears started flowing when he saw the details in the ring and hearing how it was designed. A magical moment that couldn't have happened if it weren't for Allison!
There is no doubt Allison will help you create your own special rings. Not only with amazing design, but with so much love!

We were looking for something more personal than your average big-box jewelry store, but the idea of a workshop, when we were already up to our necks with wedding planning, seemed like too much. Thankfully, Allison came to the rescue with a perfect compromise! We were able to email with Allison about what each of us wanted, even though I was unsure with some things. She was efficient with getting back to us and helped me get a clearer picture with her expert advice.
Later, we came into the studio to double check our ring sizes, as well as talk more about the specifics of the process. It was really cool to see all of the equipment and to hear Allison talk about how the rings would be made. So much more special than just picking something out off of a shelf!
Perfectly on time (or maybe it was early?) our rings were finished! We came back in to make sure they fit just right. They were beautiful! Simple and classic, just as we wanted.
The experience was one of the easiest, no-stress things we did before the wedding as it was clear from the start that we were in great hands! We would recommend Allison 100 times over! -

My parter was hesitant about doing the workshop but Allison and Ringed excelled beyond our wildest expectations. She guided us through our ring design with smart feedback and expertly handled all of our questions during the workshop. Allison created an intimate and fun experience for us (with delicious coffee and croissants to boot!) and we cannot recommend it enough to other couples. The price point for the workshop and Allison's twenty years of experience was more than reasonable. The experience we had with Ringed is something we will always treasure. Thank you, Allison! -

Unforgettable Experience
Working with Allison to create our wedding bands was by far one of the most memorable experiences my fiance and I have had together! Despite not knowing ANYTHING about metal smithing, we both felt comfortable and confident throughout the entire workshop. Allison is not only an amazing teacher, she is a total boss who’s built her business around the celebration of ALL love- love for all people, the environment and ethical jewelry. Her passion and knowledge of her craft is so inspiring, and she went above and beyond to make sure we created rings that we would love. It's terrifying when the love of your life tells you she wants you to "make" her engagement ring, especially when you have zero experience making things with your hands--you're afraid you won't do a good job…. Working with Allison at Ringed PDX got me through that. Allison did planning sessions with us. Allison sent us picture examples. Allison knew exactly what questions to ask my partner in order to make sure we were making the perfect ring. And not only is Allison a master at her craft, she's an amazing teacher who guided me step by step through the ring building process. If you're at all nervous about building the perfect ring for your partner, I'd highly recommend Allison: because in the end my partner told me, "It's exactly what I wanted!" -

We definitely recommend Allison's ring workship! Allison herself is kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and spent time getting to know us. We started at the consult with a rough idea of what we wanted, and by the end of the workshop, we had amazing rings that were 100% custom and 100% made by us, with her helpful guidance. The studio was charming, comfortable, and had everything we needed, and the day was full of hard work, learning, laughter, and the occasional cat visit. An unforgettable experience!
A month before our wedding, my fiancé surprised me with a whirlwind weekend trip to Portland from San Francisco. After a great 24 hours, we arrived at the grand finale (and the real surprise): making our wedding bands with Allison. I was completely floored and so excited to get started. Allison couldn’t have been more welcoming—or a better partner in crime as she and my fiancé ordered the perfect gold in our desired widths in the weeks leading up to the workshop. As the more neurotic one in the relationship, I got a little nervous with the trickier aspects, but she coached us both through it effortlessly. She knew just how to interact with us and how to make it the best possible day. She was thoughtful, conscientious, and warm, and we felt like she really understood our personalities and our vision from the very beginning.
We're so thrilled with the results, and we’re both reminded of the most fun day every time we look down at our ring fingers.

It's easy to dismiss the idea of making your own wedding bands. Planning a wedding is already so expensive — why make your rings when you can buy them on Amazon for $100? But speaking as both a woman planning her wedding and as a professional wedding coordinator, I cannot recommend Ringed enough.
My fiancé and I's workshop with Allison was one of the most special parts of our wedding planning. He made my ring and I made his. That alone would have been cool enough but the actual process of making them was even cooler (and more fun!) then I hoped. It was obvious that Allison is a master both at her craft and at teaching. She guided us through every step and within half-an-hour I was like, "This is well worth the money."
What you're buying isn't the material or even the workshop. What you're buying is Allison's skill and knowledge and let me tell you, it's a helluva deal.
The time flew by and at the end, we walked out with truly custom rings that we couldn't stop staring at (we did the metal fabrication workshop). We've got a few months still until our wedding and already we can't wait to wear our rings full-time. They'll be lasting memories both of our relationship and of everything we did together to make them.
Seriously, don't second guess it. Go to Ringed. -

amazing bespoke (and learning) experience!
I highly recommend choosing Ringed PDX. We loved making our rings with Allison! Not only is this a unique, bespoke experience, but Allison is an amazing jewelry designer who is also super fun. What we appreciated most about Allison (and why we ultimately chose her) was her teaching mentality. My partner and I really like knowing why and how things work, so she was a perfect choice for us. Allison is happy to answer silly technical questions along the way and is incredibly patient as she guides you through each step. Allison had a great intuition about what we were nervous about and what we could handle – she stepped in when we needed it and let us struggle when it was good for us (I’ll learn to strike a flame on my first try one day!). All in all, it really felt like we were the ones making our rings. It was a fabulous experience and a great addition to our story.
We are originally from California, but enjoyed Allison’s style so much we traveled to Portland to work with her. I would highly recommend her to anyone remotely nearby! -

Deanna Sent on 08/01/2018My fiancé and I did the workshop after a referral from our friends. Allison was super responsive and gave a lot of feedback during the planning process before the workshop. She helped us explain to her what our vision was, which can be hard being that I can be vague in my adjectives. On the workshop day, we arrived with coffee ready for us and jumped right into the learning process. Allison is so knowledgeable about metal work and explained things articulately that us laymans could understand and not feel overwhelmed. Besides that, she’s just a fun person to spend the day with. We all had great conversation and this was definitely the highlight of the whole wedding process. We will be back for an anniversary!

Knowing I'll only be married once in my life to the love of my life adding to it a memory of creating a ring as unique as my relationship was the only way to go. From start to finish Allison walked us through the steps, the options, and most importantly the treasure we were creating through this activity. Creating our rings with her has been unforgettable and they turned out truly amazing.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience working with Allison in creating our wedding bands. Allison was very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and we had a lot of fun learning about the jewelry making process. Allison helped us build each other's wedding bands into the way we had envisioned. Allison was very patient in allowing us to learn and move at our own pace and always made sure we were having fun along the way. The whole process took about 5-6 hrs but was totally worth it. We love to share our story about creating our unique wedding bands with family and friends and they are always amazed about the look and quality of the finished product.
