Dream fairytale Philly wedding

We had our dream fairy-tale garden wedding at Ridgeland Mansion last Saturday. We moved under the tent due to rain, and the backdrop of the grounds provided a beautiful setting for photos and for guests to walk around if desired during cocktail hour. The place settings and food were perfect for our guests, healthy and local with a lot of gluten-free, vegan options. Jenn was unparalleled in her kindness & responsiveness throughout the process. She made sure we ate and enjoyed on the day of, helping create an intimate, warm, magical evening that we'll never forget.

Perfect outdoor wedding in Philly

I was looking for outdoor green space in Philly for my wedding and came across Ridgeland Mansion. My fiancé and I met with Jen Alvarado, co-owner of Joshua Catering, and exclusive caterer of Ridgeland Mansion to tour the grounds. The spot was a perfect getaway from downtown Philly, yet close enough to Lyft. The mansion itself had separate rooms for the bridal party & groomsmen to get ready. We had the ceremony outdoors in the tree covered grove in October and it was perfect weather. The outdoor space was a great backdrop for photos and cocktail hour. The reception was tented for dinner/dancing of 150 guests and had 2 bars set up with an outdoor fire pit. The premise also had a separate ‘barn’ that accommodated our afterparty for late night. We chose this venue because it had space for all of the events without having to travel. As an added bonus, 100% of the venue fee went straight to the Cancer Support Center as a donation. Jen and her team were great! She was very responsive and answered all of our questions, was easy to get along with, and had great suggestions for how to use the site since she's so experienced hosting weddings there. The food was fantastic--including several vegetarian options--and many of our guests commented on how delicious it was. Jen’s team took care of every detail so that we could focus on enjoying time with our guests. We couldn’t have done it without her and highly recommend hiring her for your wedding!

We couldn’t have chosen a better venue than Ridgeland Mansion, and the experience was made even more wonderful by working with Jennifer and the exceptional team at Joshua’s Catering. Jennifer put so much thought and care into every detail, and her patience with my endless questions was unmatched! We actually booked the venue just four months before the wedding after our original venue fell through. During what could have been a stressful time, Jennifer made everything feel smooth and assured us that we were in great hands.

On the wedding day, the food was nothing short of amazing. Our guests have not stopped raving about the garlic potato puree and the flavorful vegetable curry! The whole experience was seamless, from the beautifully set tables to the friendly, professional staff. If you’re looking for a venue with outstanding service, delicious food, and a caring, thoughtful team, I highly recommend Ridgeland Mansion and Joshua’s Catering. Thank you, Ridgeland Mansion/Joshua's Catering!

My husband and I had our wedding at Ridgeland in April and it was outstanding. The venue was beautiful; I loved the different areas of the venue. The ceremony took place down in the lower garden, the cocktail hour was in/outside the barn, the reception was in a large tent. I really loved the fire pit area adjacent to the tent – it gave people another location to hang out and talk if they didn’t want to dance. The mansion with the bridal suite was gorgeous and homey.

Jenn and the servers were phenomenal. Jenn is one of those people who has everything under control, you don’t have to worry. The servers were so kind and attentive. Many guests commented on how wonderful the service was.

A standout example of the excellence of Ridgeland Mansion/Joshua’s Catering - our officiant was late and Ridgeland seamlessly flipped our cocktail hour and ceremony at the last minute to accommodate. They were so flexible and pulled this off so well. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The food was outstanding. Joshua’s Catering has many vegan and vegetarian options, and was considerate of guest dietary needs. We did all vegan/vegetarian hors d'oeuvre and everything was delicious.

Ridgeland Mansion was amazingly affordable, particularly given the beautiful venue, the delicious food, and the tremendous level of service. Definitely a hidden gem of the Philadelphia wedding scene.

We just adored Ridgeland Mansion as a wedding venue. We wanted to find a place that accommodated a large number of people, but didn’t want a ballroom. Ridgeland Mansion really fit the bill. Everything was lovely, but at the same time felt simple, not over the top.

Ridgeland also graciously allowed us to bring our dog which was much appreciated!

Accommodating, Professional, Delicious food

We worked with Jenn at Joshua Catering for a late April 2022 wedding and she made our wedding planning easy and less stressful. Her experience shines through in her recommendations and comprehensive planning. Additionally, she is timely, responsive, and accommodating. All of our guests also commented on how delicious both the hor d'oeuvres and dinner meals were. We would highly recommend Joshua Catering.

Best Hidden Gem in Philly!!

I cannot recommend this venue enough. It was absolutely perfect. We loved the idea of an outdoor wedding near our neighborhood in Fairmount Park. We toured a few of the other nearby venues/mansions and but none of them were quite right. We knew the moment we saw it that Ridgeland was the one. The location is only a 10-15 min drive from center city yet tucked away like a magical enchanted forest. Jen and the entire Joshua's catering team we're amazing as well. We were originally set to get married 10/10/20 and Jen made postponing our reception (twice!) an absolute breeze. We were so grateful for how attentive and accommodating she was through the whole process after hearing horror stories from friends who postponed elsewhere. She took care of every last detail and exceeded our expectations with all of my crazy questions, requests and decor. We had a lot of moving parts and non-traditional touches and we never had to worry about a thing! On the day of the wedding the forecast was not great. Jen was quick to pivot and did everything she could to make sure we could still get married in the "secret garden" as planned. While we couldn't have cocktail hour outside, the rain plan in the tent worked perfectly for our guest count (about 115) and it all looked just as magical as we envisioned. Our families and friends are still raving that this was one of the best weddings they've ever been to. The food was really important to us and they completely blew us away with every dish. The servers were all amazing as well and on top of it all night! We loved having the catering/rentals/venue all bundled and it was very reasonably priced for what we got/location! We never felt like we were constantly being upsold or nickel and dimes with additions if we wanted to alter something either. It was absolutely beautiful in early October but honestly we visited all three seasons and it was lovely no matter what. 10/10 recommend!!

Can we get married again just to get the catering?

From the moment Jenn called us for our consultation I knew this was the place for our wedding catering. The team at Joshua's Catering is unbelievably kind, easy to work with, and so so friendly. We booked with Joshua's before we even did our tasting, as we were on a tight timeline, based on the amazing reviews and their warmth during our conversations. When we got to our tasting, we were completely blown away. It was truly some of the most delicious food I've had, and goes above and beyond what you would expect for a wedding meal. We talked about our tasting constantly between then and the wedding day and were so excited to have that meal again.
On our wedding day, Joshua's again was the absolute best. Our guests were also blown away by not only the quality and deliciousness but by the level of service and friendliness of the staff. As the bride & groom, we were well taken care of, including a tray of cocktail hour apps while we were taking pictures!
We wish we could get married again just to experience what a pleasure it was to work with Joshua's, but if we ever have other catering needs in the future, they'll be our one and only call :)
Also, their clear and upfront pricing was so helpful for logistics and planning.

Incredible

We hired Joshua's for our September 2021 wedding and I've never heard so many compliments on a wedding caterer in my life. I would have thought they were just being nice to the groom but I tasted it myself :)

Great variety of food while also accommodating to our vegan guests (we even had a brussel sprout taco station during cocktail hour!) and handled a few last minute switch-ups with grace and confidence. COVID-safe protocols during the tasting and reception made everyone comfortable. Hire these folks and make sure the short rib is on your menu.

Beautiful Venue!

Ridgeland Mansion is a beautiful venue. We really wanted to have a wedding in Philly that incorporated nature and this is the perfect place to do it. The secret garden ceremony was so picturesque and the tent was the perfect space for everyone to dance. Jen did a great job keeping us in the loop and helping us plan leading up the the event (especially when we decided to postpone from 2020 to 2021). She killed it the day of and was on top of everything. Joshua’s Catering was amazing! The food choices were all so delicious which made it difficult to make final decisions! Everyone raved about the food, which as big foodies was also very important to us to have quality, local, sustainable food. I would highly recommend this venue.

Amazing all around

We hired Joshua’s Catering for my backyard micro-wedding after our original wedding plans were disrupted by the pandemic. As you can imagine, it was stressful to have to re-plan a wedding so close to the event. Working with Joshua’s Catering was absolutely fantastic. Everything went smoothly and the food was amazing. What’s more is that Brian was incredibly responsive, flexible, and friendly. We are so lucky and grateful to have Joshua’s Catering as our neighbor and look forward to hiring them again for future events!

Best in NJ

All the reviews have said it all but Ill say it again. From the moment We stepped out of the car, we were attended to hand and foot by the maitre D and the bridal attendant. Anything we wanted was there within minutes (drinks, food), my bridal attendant really went above and beyond to make sure my dress with a HUGE complicated train was perfect (it took 5 people to figure out the bustle). The food was AMAZING, all my guests are still raving about the cocktail hour, dinner and of course the Viennese hour. If you want a big “Jersey style” wedding this is the place. We would pick it again in a heartbeat. If you have the money...do it! Also, I prefer the smaller room- it never looks empty and the gold ceiling is gorgeous!

Simply Amazing!

We loved working with Joshua's Catering and Jenn! We had our wedding at Morris Arboretum on April 19th 2019 and it was magical to say the least! Jenn was responsive to messages and questions we had, which made the process so effortless. Even though it rained on the our wedding day, Jenn and her team made everything look beautiful. Kate even helped me with my wedding dress during the reception! Our guests keep telling us how good the food and service was! Everyone was really attentive to our needs and my husband and I felt so special. We definitely recommend Joshua's to everyone :)

Easy and Refined

Joshua's Catering did a wonderful job with our evening and planning all the way up to the event. Joshua’s Catering gave us EXCELLENT service. The food was absolutely incredible and we received rave reviews all night long. Jenn was a delight to work with and we were impressed seeing how she deftly handled the evening. We had the steak with chimmichurri, chicken with rosemary Demi-glacé, and the squash ravioli; all superb. The pricing for what we received was absolutely fair. Always responsive with emails, however sometimes you may end up with multiple email threads. Loved Joshua’s Catering and Jenn.

This venue is perfect! We had our spring wedding here and it couldn't have been more beautiful. The ceremony area is so scenic and peaceful. There is a lot of outdoor space for the cocktail hour and a tent for the reception (and in case of rain). It is one stop shopping because it is also a perfect spot for photos. I would definitely recommend Ridgeland Mansion for anyone looking for a scenic spot for an outdoor wedding.

Joshua's Catering had us from the very first tasting! An amazing afternoon at their kitchen was artfully produced and Laurie was there to walk us through it every step of the way. We each had special requests that were granted with flair and allowed us to put a signature flair to our menus. Additionally, we had lots of ideas that we wanted for decorations and Laurie ran with it and helped plan and set it up with perfection!!
The staff on the big day was spectacular. No one wanted for anything.
2+ years later and our friends still rave about the food at our wedding!!

We just got married at Ridgeland Mansion this year and I can honestly say it was a perfect day that transitioned into a perfect evening. At first the appeal to me was the availability of an outdoor space for the ceremony with a covered indoor space for reception that still allowed people to feel a breeze and step outside if they wanted. However after all is said and done, I can now say there is more to the appeal including the people that work here going above and beyond for you. You will not regret having you're special day here.

Joshua’s had us at first tasting. We didn’t want “typical” wedding food, and decided to go with Mexican-themed cuisine. They blew us away with an amazing selection of unique and flavorful options that we just HAD to have at our wedding! Everything from the appetizers to the salad and dinner was delicious--hands down the best food we’d ever had at a wedding, and our guests would not stop raving about it, either. The service was also very prompt and friendly. And then there’s Laurie. There are not enough kind words or recommendations to express how thankful we were to have her as our coordinator! She is so patient, easy to get in touch with, and organized, and you could definitely tell that this wasn’t her first rodeo. Not only was she incredibly helpful leading up to the wedding, but on the day of, she and her team did everything from setting up to keeping on schedule. During the cocktail hour, she even brought me and my husband drinks and plates of appetizers and made sure we were taken care of throughout the night! And it’s not to mention that this poor woman got soaked in the frequent downpours that afternoon, and worked with us to make sure we had everything perfect in spite of the rain. She truly went above and beyond. We can’t thank Laurie and Joshua’s enough, we highlight, highly recommend them!

Ridgeland Mansion is Philadelphia's best kept secret! We had our wedding at Ridgeland in October and it was absolutely beautiful. We had only 75 people, but it can easily accommodate a large wedding. The grounds are beautiful and spaced out -and include a barn (which is used for meetings or smaller weddings). Plenty of parking and easy commute to center city which made it easy for our guests. The staff is friendly and bent over backwards for us. Plus, it's affordable!

Don't look any further! This team of caterers/servers is perfect for your wedding day. From the delicious food to the wonderful service, there is no need. Amazing apps, main dishes and sides and they provide service for your bar with BYOB alcohol. We plan to use them again for smaller events. No one at the wedding could stop talking for weeks after about how good the food is! Thanks for being there for my wedding and my sister's!!! And again, Molly was a rockstar!

Words cannot describe how grateful we are to have had Joshua's Catering cater our wedding!!! They exceeded our expectation in every way possible through their hard work, dedication, creativity, and compassion throughout the whole process in planning and in executing our wedding. Laurie, Joshua's Catering coordinator, was there with us through every little detail from planning the food selections and even rental equipment. We met several times through the process and she was extremely prompt with emails and phone calls. And everything turned out exquisite!! The chairs, linens, glassware, tables, displays and set-up came together beautifully. The food was a work of art, and absolutely delicious. The honey dijon crusted salmon was seriously the best salmon I've ever had! We also had a beautiful, delicious array of Asian Fusion cuisine which was such a hit for our guests. And all of the service and help carried out throughout the evening exceeded our expectations- before, during, and after. They helped us pack everything without any hesitation. Such an incredible company. We cannot rave enough about Joshua's Catering!!

When my husband and I first started wedding planning, we treated it a lot like a chore. It wasn't necessarily something we were looking forward to. Being introduced to Laurie and David at Joshua's Catering changed all that for us. From the very first tasting we did with them, all the way through to the last call on our wedding night, Laurie was super fun and easy to work with. Her and David listened to our vision from day one and delivered a truly memorable wedding night for us. Our guests raved about the food, the bar service was seamless, and they acted as true partners with us throughout the process. It was so easy to tell how much they both loved what they do. From my first conversation with Laurie I was impressed and excited to work with Joshua's. She was organized, upbeat, accommodating, and answered all of our questions very quickly. David worked with us to create a menu that spoke to our personal tastes. Laurie's checklist kept us organized and on track, and feeling very comfortable. In the world of catering, it can be easy to feel like you're just being shuffled along in pre-packaged menus and formulaic design - but not at all with Joshua's. We were encouraged to be unique, to do our own thing, to pick flavors that we felt good about. I really can't say enough how comfortable we were, and how darn nice it was to work with the Joshua's team. Through the ups and downs of wedding planning, I knew that Laurie always had my back and would ensure the wedding went off without a hitch - which it did. The team did a superb job setting up our ceremony chairs, our reception tables, and all of our decorations and special details. It was a perfect. The wedding timeline ran a little late due to a late shuttle - but Joshua's didn't miss a beat and helped move the night along effortlessly. We got so many compliments on the food and service - even my husband's 97 year old grandmother was impressed :) Joshua's whole staff was just so nice and incredibly diligent to the service of the room. Staffers were circulating often and none of our guests wanted for anything. The team was always smiling and smart and just made our day feel like a dream come true.

Joshua's Catering was awesome! They were wonderful for our summer wedding in July and my husband and I would use them again for future events. All the staff from day 1 were friendly and excited to be a part of our event. They knew how to advise in such a nice manner to keep us and our guests all happy. Everyone commented on how great the dishes we had were at our wedding. The food was flavorful, appealing to the eye, and perfect for the season we were in- the dead heat of summer. Can't say enough about all of the staff from meetings leading up to our actual big day- everyone was spectacular to work with and just so pleasant. Thank you again to everyone at Joshua's!!

I cant write enough good things about Joshuas Catering.
From day one, they were amazing. I kept looking at their pictures and thinking "this has to be a trick - there's no way their food can look that good at this price for a wedding" but it totally does!!! That good and better!

The staff was so easy and enjoyable to work with. Every time we met we just wanted to hang out with them longer. So sincere and down to earth and invested in making your vision come through. David worked really well with us on some of our more interesting requests. We had mini-sliders Bob's Burgers style (for those that done know, there's a burger-a-day that's a pun), and even came up with some puns of his own for us - "Two-cheddar forever." ! They laughed when every other word out of my husband's mouth was "so we can have pigs in a blanket too, right???" They were so flexible and worked with my to serve a very special bunch of crescent rolls to my "cousins table" as a running inside joke in our family. It made their night and I'm still hearing about it! Laurie was really organized, informative and super knowledgeable. I knew our wedding was in the hands of a very experienced person, which really helped me lay back and relax a bit (something I'm not always good at). When we did a mini-photo session during cocktail hour, she was constantly up and down the hill to check on us and make sure we were fed thoroughly with those glorious appetizers. And then a few hours later, I saw her running down again to start grabbing some of the leftover decor, even without us asking. SO HELPFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

And don't even get me started on the food. We had guests coming up to us all night talking about how good it was. The value for what they prepare for you is awesome. And they're so organized and professional on top of that. It made a huge difference in our overall experiecne and we're so so happy we went with them. It was the obvious choice from bite-one :) DO IT!

Joshua's was incredible from the first tasting through the dessert at the wedding. All of our guests raved about the food...it was truly top notch. Laurie was so friendly and accommodating during all of our meetings and they were extremely organized and easy to communicate with. The service was also great on the day of the wedding. This is a great value for the high quality food and service that they provide.

Joshua's Catering was simply one of the best and easiest decisions we made for our wedding! We knew from the moment we met them that they would be wonderful and easy to work with.. and we were right! They were also incredibly flexible in our multiple requests for tasting. Everything David cooked for us was so delicious that in the end, we practically said "serve whatever you'd like at the wedding! It's all delicious!"
David and Laurie were incredibly attentive and totally available in the days leading up to the event. We could not have done it without them and we could not have been more pleased with their service! If we could do it all again, we would choose them again in a heartbeat!!

Great value for the money. You can customize everything to your needs, and the rental fee can be written off as a nonprofit donation! I learned about this venue from seeing it on the TV show "Four Weddings."

Joshua's Catering provided amazing service, food selections, drinks service and more. Laurie coordinated everything, and it was all pulled together seamlessly. We got married at an outdoor venue that involved some creativity as to where set up for cocktail hour and other special additions. We had a separate vendor deliver desserts, and we provided the alcohol. Each vendor coordinated with Laurie, and she figured it all out to make the vision come together perfectly. Not only that, but during our cocktail hour and party, she continually checked in on us to freshen our drinks and/or make sure we got to taste the food.
The quality of the food was superb, and the amount we paid for it was very reasonable (and less than what was quoted from other vendors in Philly). The staff they brought to the site was also amazing. There were at least 17 people working behind the scenes, at the bar, and to clean up who were efficient and friendly. We were thrilled to have chosen Joshua's to cater our wedding.

Joshua's was great! The food was amazing and the guests are still raving. Joshua's took care of everything for the day. Everything I asked for came out wonderfully. I could not have had a better team to work with to make the most memorable day of my life come to reality.

We had our wedding at this venue on 9/19 and it was spectacular! If you are a DIY bride (or looking for a place that you can customize your vendors) this is the perfect spot! Basically they provided us with the plot of land, which was GORGEOUS, and we contracted and customized our wedding the way we wanted. My guests can't stop talking about how beautiful everything was. Thank you so much!!

Joshua's Catering was fantastic. They handled my sit down rehearsal dinner for 45 at our home and handled the day after catered breakfast for 60 and BBQ and Clambake for over 100 on Sunday in our backyard under a Tent environment. The chefs, Susan and Bridgette were amazing and the food was spectacular. My guests were amazed and were quite appreciative of their friendly service and professionalism. I cannot wait to use their services again and hoping that some of my friends use their services in the future.

We used Joshua's Catering for our wedding. Our whole experience with them was amazing! Laurie was absolutely wonderful to work with. From day one, I felt like ours was the only event she was working on. She was always available for questions and willing to do whatever she could to help. Joshua's Catering is truly gourmet on a budget. I honestly never thought we could have served the food we did on our budget. Everywhere else we looked said our best bet was a buffet, but with Laurie and Joshua's Catering, plated meals were never a question. When we went to our tasting, I remember thinking something must be wrong here. Everything was so delicious and beautifully plated, I thought somewhere the numbers must be off, but they weren't! And at any point we had a budget issue, Laurie was always willing to work with us or offer suggestions for cost savings. We also used their baker, Amy, for our wedding cake, which, of course, was also delicious. I was able to send Laurie a picture of how we would like the cake to look and Amy made it happen. All in all everything was perfect! The service was great, the food was beyond delicious and no detail was spared. Every aspect exceeded our expectations! Every guest (and I really mean every single guest) said how wonderful their meal was, not to mention how much they enjoyed the passed h'orderves at cocktail hour. Anytime our wedding comes up in conversation, everyones first reaction is "...oh and that lamb!!!".

I can not tell you how much we enjoyed working with Laurie and Joshua's Catering. The Chef David and his team impressed us from the first tasting. Laurie was a joy to work with, relaxed, helpful and on top of everything. They understood our vision and what we wanted to make our wedding perfect. The food was tasty, fresh and unique. Service that day was great, and prices are reasonable. The team really made our day perfect. I can't thank them enough. The fresh fish was my favorite, curried chicken cones and dessert was delish! Use these people, they are great.

Joshua's Catering catered our wedding at Morris Arboretum and we could not be happier that we chose them. From the very first phone call I made, both Laurie and David were an absolute pleasure to work with. Our tasting took place at their beautiful studio and when we walked in they had an adorable table set for two and then proceeded to serve us some of the most delicious food we've ever tasted. It felt like a legitimate date night! It's important to note that he serves you nearly full portions so resist the temptation to finish each plate as he'll pack up all the left overs for you to enjoy again at home. After we made our food selections, Laurie made the rest of the planning process a breeze. She is professional, organized, incredibly sweet and has a very calm demeanor -- very important to have that kind of energy while planning your wedding :) We also worked with Bridget, a graphic designer who works with Laurie and David. She designed and printed all of our printed goods for an incredibly reasonable price and they turned out absolutely perfect! The night of the wedding could not have gone smoother. Laurie was there from the very beginning to coordinate the arrival of all the vendors and was right there whenever I needed her throughout the night -- no need for a day-of planner. The staff were also fantastic -- professional, easily accessible and pleasant to work with. If there were any hiccups, I will never know it because Laurie and her team worked to make the night absolutely perfect. And the best part was the delicious food! We chose some non-traditional meal selections and our guests absolutely loved them. Our wedding was the happiest day of our lives and I don't think I would be able to say that without the help of Laurie and David. If you want delicious food, smooth planning and great relationship with your caterer, all for an incredibly reasonable price, chose Joshua's! You will not regret it.

We really loved having our wedding at the Ridgeland Mansion. Jen, the contact person at the Mansion/Cancer Support Community was extremely responsive to our emails and was really flexible and accommodating. She was really helpful with any request or concern that I had. When I asked about Wi-Fi information in order to be able to Skype with my grandmother during the reception, Jen went above and beyond to make sure it was working and I had all the information to do so. Peanut, the groundskeeper who was there on the day of the wedding, was really friendly and we made sure we had everything we needed on the day of the wedding. I had personal ties with the Cancer Support Community, so to have our reception on the beautiful grounds was especially meaningful. The fact that our rental was a donation to the non-profit was really the icing on the cake. I would really recommend this location for anyone who is looking for an outdoor city venue that doesn't feel like it's in the city.

My name is Margee Barth, our beautiful nuptials and ceremony rated five stars across the board in large part due to the caterer Joshua's.
We first visited two other caterers that were the approved for the property. We didn't feel either of the caterers listened and the food was really disappointing.
I had a conversation with the event coordinator Laurie Durkin, she asked some questions and then set up our first tasting. The tasting with Laurie and head chef/owner David Hall, was relaxed and so impressive. The tasting sealed the deal. The food samples reflected my preferences, I explained our crowd was mixed with seafood lovers, vegetarians and carnivores. We sampled Filet Crostini, Lump crab on endive and Risotto balls w/pesto cream. We added a grilled veggie platter with assorted dips and a local Pennsylvania Cheese spread that catered to our mixed foodie crowd.
Happy hour was a big success. The bartenders and wait staff pleasantly and efficiently kept us fed and the drinks were flowing. Two amazing Bartenders handled the crowd fantastically, as servers butlered endless delish appetizers.
The ceremony was held at Morris Aboretum, in the Rose Garden. The grounds were spectacular yet, I knew they presented a logistical challenge. Laurie and the team from Morris handled this beautifully.
We had a seated dinner, served mixed spring greens w/pecans and goat cheese but the kicker was the Pear Vinegarette. It's unbelievable. Our dinner choices consisted of a Eggplant Rotini (for all the vegetarians), which was excellent. Pecan Crusted Salmon on Baby Spinach w/roasted red potatoes. Beef Medalions w/Kennette Square mushrooms in a demiglaze. The food was spectacular, service over the top and venue beautiful. If your looking for great service and excellent food don't look any further. Fingers crossed they have an open slot for your special day!

Working with Joshua's was the best choice I could've made. Laurie, the coordinator made the planning process so easy and she made the place look beautiful. David the chef/owner was very kind and created such a delicious menu. My friends and relatives still talk about how much they loved the food. I would recommend Joshua's to anyone. From Start to Finish Joshua's Catering was truly amazing!! In our first meeting with David, my fiance and I were hooked! David's passion for food shined, and his excitement and passion for creating custom dishes got us excited for the food at our wedding. Laurie's organization helped us through the entire process, making sure no detail went overlooked. The result was a wedding reception that my guests are still raving about! The food was the highlight of the evening, and I still hear about those lamb chops appetizers!!! Don and I could not have been happier with our choice, while the end result was amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed the entire process with David and Laurie, every meeting was pleasant, and the tasting was FANTASTIC! Our wedding celebration was everything that we hoped it would be and we have David Hall and his team to thank. My wife Bonnie and I were married on June 28 and held our wedding celebration for 70 guests at Curtis Hall on September 13. The evening was perfection from start to finish. David is a superb chef. Our guests, many of them foodies, were delighted with the food. Joshua's baker Amy is the best. We heard that people took second helpings. The wait staff was courteous, helpful and gracious. And Laurie is a coordinator extraordinaire! Every little detail of our party was remembered and handled effortlessly. She made the evening as smooth as silk, while we had the time of our lives. They are all simply the best.

Speaking as the very happy mother of the very happy groom, we are indebted to Laurie Durkin and the amazing staff of Joshua's Catering. Joshua's provided sincerely outstanding food and meticulous attention to EVERY detail - from a professional team of individuals who were just a complete pleasure to work with through the entire process. We were lucky enough to have Joshua's cater our Friday evening welcome dinner for out-of-town guests, in addition to the wedding reception. Friday evening was simply tremendous. One look at the food told us that the reception would be perfect (which it was!) However, within those two days we felt the staff members all became family! :) Everyone was a delight. The food was presented with such an aesthetic - so perfect for our venues - and everything was just more than delicious. Our son and his beautiful bride chose an (almost) completely vegan menu - and our heartiest of meat-eaters raved! We cannot recommend Joshua's Catering enough - perfect in every way!

We used Joshua’s Catering for our backyard wedding with 40 people. Our guests were very impressed with the service as well as the quality and unique style of food. Joshua’s had to cook everything in the kitchen in the house and they did it with such grace and professionalism. You would not have known that they were even there. Our catering coordinator, Laurie was extremely helpful as she also managed the overall timing and movement of the guests. The little details that even a bride doesn’t think about – she had us covered. The food was absolutely delicious. They also allowed us to bring our own potatoes from my parent’s farm which they cooked marvelously. They were extremely generous and accommodating to the children that we had, giving them extras and responding to special requests.

We highly recommend Joshua’s for any event. They are reasonably priced, a pleasure to work with and very talented at making exceptional, unique food.

We do not have enough words in our vocabulary for how perfect Joshua's Catering was to work with. Before the wedding, we had a blast at our tasting in their store in Jenkintown, PA. Chef David was not only open to our vegan/vegetarian only menu, but he couldn't wait to test delicious recipes with us. My husband is not a vegan but he loves food as much as I do. It was important to us to hire a caterer who did not hear the words "vegan" or "vegetarian" and translate them to "boring" in his mind. Rather, he created a creative menu like hearts of palm cakes, Seitan sliders, and a whole wheat pasta that was obscenely tasty. Laurie, the event planner at Joshua's chased us in the rain to make sure that we were fed and had cocktails. She was exceptional to work with and made us feel so delighted by her sweet smile. We love these people so much. If you're looking for a great caterer who not only knows food and flavor but can also be creative and fun, these are the people that you'll want to hire. We made sure we worked with a venue that would allow us to hire Joshua's Catering and are so glad that we did so.

The entire staff that Joshua's brought with them to serve at cocktail hour, bartend, and to work in the kitchen went above and beyond for us as well. One of the lady staff members actually carried my train for me in the rain to help me get to the arbor where our vows would be spoken. It was like a scene out of a Disney film.

This place is phenomenal. I could go into it and write a book, but I'll just hit some high points -

If you're like me, you're a bit overwhelmed by the planning process and all of the details. There's hundreds of decisions to make, and they're all seemingly crucial to make your day exactly the way you want it. That's where Laurie comes in. She's the wedding guru, and makes all of your decisions easy and fun - absolutely phenomenal at her job, she helped us with all of the little details and did an AMAZING job behind the scenes at the wedding. The whole serving and bartending staff did an amazing job, but Laurie helps from the beginning, and makes sure EVERYTHING is exactly the way you want it. Plus, she's totally awesome, fun, and helps you relax and enjoy the process.

The food is really just fantastic as well. It's rare to find a caterer where it doesn't taste like all the food was cooked en masse, but each plated meal we had tasted like it was cooked individually and special for each guest. Everything was done just so, and the local / seasonal food made the flavor really stand out. On top of that, we had a couple special requests - vegan guests, a special Argentine dessert that has sentimental meaning to myself and my wife, etc. - that the Chef embraced. He loved the challenge (especially with the dessert!) and went out of his way to research recipes, try different things, and let us taste his creations before the wedding day.

And above all, try their peach sangria!

When it comes down to it, it was everything we wanted, and a lot more. Laurie went out of her way to make sure everything went smoothly, working with the band to get them situated, working with the venue to make sure the seating chart was perfect, reaching out to our day-of coordinator so a lot of the work was done in advance, and even putting together a little champagne and hors d'ouvres plate for my wife and I so we could catch our breath together after the ceremony.

Get these guys.

Joshua's catering did an amazing job with our wedding! All of the food was delicious. Our guests raved about it, including one guest who is a professional chef.

We really enjoyed working with Laurie. She was well organized and kept us on track with all the to-do's including by providing ideas for the event and great recommendations for other vendors. She took care of everything efficiently, including when we decided a few days before the wedding that we wanted to rent a dance floor for our open space. We don't know what we would have done without her!

We did pay slightly more (5-10%) for Joshua's than if we had used a couple of the other preferred caterers at our venue, but it was absolutely worth it for what we received! We highly recommend them!

When my husband and I began browsing caterers for our intimate (17 people) backyard wedding, we knew we wanted a company that worked with local foods and seasonal menu items. We stumbled upon Joshua's Catering's website and saw sample menus on their site and thought it looked perfect. After we gave them an idea of what we had in mind--entrees like blackened shrimp tacos and bbq chicken with mac 'n cheese--or a trio of dessert--they invited us to their location for an official tasting. We couldn't have been more impressed, it was exactly what we were looking for.

Jason and David went over every menu item (we had many courses) with us to make sure we gave them our own twist and personalization. When it came to our big day, our families had nothing but kind words to say. The meal definitely stole the show (in a great way!) and will always remain one of the most memorable parts of our wedding day. The chef had a very professional work station set up in our kitchen, and they even cleaned the dishes and space up afterward, which was a huge relief as we were heading off to our honeymoon the next day. We even came home to leftover lavender honey gelato (so so good) in our freezer, which we didn't realize they left for us.

We had an evening of local food, thoughtful courses, and a chef that couldn't have been kinder and more welcoming to our families. We will definitely be using Joshua's Catering again in the future for any big occasions.

Joshua's catered our Morris Arboretum wedding on August 2nd, and they were FANTASTIC! Not only was the food phenomenal (many guests said it was the best wedding food they have ever had), but the service was exceptional. Laurie is extremely talented at coordinating every single detail of your wedding. Every request I had, she was able to fulfill. She answered all of my millions of questions right away. She brought up many details that I hadn't even thought about previously! Our wedding was completely perfect, it went off without a hitch!
Laurie was able to coordinate with all of our other vendors, set up all of the decorations exactly the way that I wanted and provide excellent food and drink!
Joshua's allowed us to drop off all of the alcohol and decorations the day before the wedding, which was nice so that we did not have to worry about setting anything up on our wedding day. Another great thing is that they are BYOB, so you can buy all of your alcohol and keep it after the wedding. We spent $1300 on our alcohol for a 120 person wedding and had about half of it left over after the wedding! Our friends drink a lot too, so we couldn't believe that there was so much left! I had compiled a list of all the cocktails that I wanted available, and Joshua's was great about providing all of the mixers for the cocktails. It was a great evening! The cost was also great-- it was about $75 per person (much less expensive than the other caterers we looked at-- many started at $100 pp!)
The only (very minor) issue is that we never got our cake toppers back. That was a little disappointing, but all things considered it was an awesome night.

My husband and I have agreed (for the first time since meeting 5 years ago) that there is absolutely nothing we would have changed about our wedding. THAT'S how great Joshua's Catering was!! Chef David Hall fulfilled all of our wishes for a wedding that was not a "chicken or fish" kind of deal. We had stationary Italian antipasti, Asian passed hors d'oeuvres and a comfort food family-style sit down dinner. His service staff was friendly, competent, and professional. And it must be said that he's just a cool guy who I'd want at my family's Thanksgiving ha! Laurie Durkin is the coordinator and did she ever coordinate! My bridesmaidzilla sister in law wanted to flip the floor plan the day before the wedding and Laurie went with it happily. The Abington Art Center's pavillion looked amazing. I can't say enough great things about the planning process with David and Laurie. I felt comfortable with their expertise and just straight up trusted that they'd do a good job. My wedding day was beautiful and if I had to do it all over, wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Joshua's Catering!!

Joshua’s is THE BEST!!!!!!

We used Joshua’s for our wedding at Ridgeland Mansion this past June and have nothing but AMAZING things to say! I mean it when I say Jenn is the best around. I am picky and had a vision in my head on a budget that Jenn made come to life. When we had to move our wedding due to COVID, she eased all our worries and made planning a breeze. The food is incredible - it was so hard to pick just a few things to serve - and our guests agreed! Jenn made SURE that Brian and I enjoyed the food too, which is something I am so thankful for. She brought us our own tray of appetizers when we arrived and ensured that we sat down and ate our dinners. Jenn, Brian and the rest of the Joshua’s staff are SO nice and helpful. Seriously. Jenn’s kids even made us a little gift bag with treats inside to celebrate. It was so sweet. On the day after the wedding, we were heading to the venue to pick up things left behind and actually got a flat tire on the way. Jenn and her husband were lifesavers and helped us change our tire on site - they seriously are great people who truly care about their clients. We couldn’t be happier with our decision and owe it all to Jenn and Joshua’s for making our wedding reception the best party ever… people are STILL talking about how perfect everything was. Book Joshua’s caterers … you won’t regret it!!!!

beautiful venue - loved their Secret Garden

We worked with Jennifer A. at Joshua’s Catering for our wedding at the Ridgeland Mansion and we are happy with the experience! 1. FEE: We love the fact that our venue fee is a charitable contribution to the Philadelphia’s Cancer Support Community (housed at Ridgeland). 2. SERVICE: Jenn is personable and flexible – besides the beautiful venue – that was the reason why we decided on the venue because we knew she would deliver whatever we needed for our special day (which she did!). 3. FOOD: YUM. We were nervous because we signed the contract without tasting – but when we had our tasting, we knew we made the right choice! Jason was our chef and the food was perfect! One thing we may note is that the accounting was a bit frustrating but Jenn was quick to respond on her team’s behalf.

Small event yet Big Delivery!

I was so impressed with Joshua Catering and the professionalism/care they put into a very small yet important event for us in December. Because our reception venue (Cairnwood Estates) does not permit on-site wedding ceremonies, I was in need of a venue/caterer for our short ceremony. Joshua Catering stepped right in and was more than willing to help us create a very special marriage ceremony at Abington Art Center. Despite not being the reception caterer, the team at Joshua Catering, especially Jenn, still treated us as if we were their most important client. Jenn was very open to special requests which included a pre-ceremony cocktail hour with custom made snacks, hot cider served during the ceremony, and delivery of pre-ceremony meals to the wedding party. This may not seem like much, but there were complexities that Jenn navigated with ease such as food allergies, picky eaters, and a fairly massive transformation of the outdoor pavilion by the florist. Jenn was incredibly responsive and interested in ensuring our day went as smoothly as possible. It rained on our wedding day and Jenn was right on site ensuring that little details were covered including extra rugs to prevent guests from slipping and mopping of the pavilion to minimize puddles!! She went above and beyond on last minute ‘asks’ to ensure the comfort of our guests. I would highly recommend Joshua for any of your catering needs – big or small.

Megan and I fell in love with Joshua's style immediately. Their love for local, fresh, and creative foods aligned with our preference. We are both vegetarian, but wanted a blend of both. They are comfortable with doing vegan or traditional style meals. They helped to create a menu that represented us, instead of a generic menu. They worked with us throughout the entire process to keep the cost from getting out of control but giving us a variety from the cocktail hour, dinner courses, and dessert. We had our guest make pies and and cheese cakes, and Joshua help to supplement. This demonstrated their flexibility. Their price was competitive for a higher end caterer. Our guests raved about the food, and our meat eating friends loved some of the vegetarian hors d'oeuvres. My wife was so thankful to work with Laurie. She supported all her creative and artistic visions for the day. They may have taken several days to get back to our e-mails during the planning process, but the week before the wedding she was very responsive to daily conversations. She was great at problem solving and resolving the many issues that arose the day of the wedding to help it to run smooth without anyone noticing. The staff was extremely friendly to the guests. David's cooking and Laurie's planning helped to bring our garden wedding dream to a reality. We highly recommend Joshua catering to anyone that is looking for fun and creative organic caterer.

Joshua's food is delicious, and their staff is a joy to work with. Laurie was extremely helpful the day of, and coordinated so well that I never felt worried about anything! The staff was so helpful, and thoughtful, willing to accommodate all of our (somewhat bizarre) requests. They were able to provide vegan/vegetarian and gluten/lactose free options without extra cost, and their prices were reasonable. They worked hard to help us save money as well. I can't speak highly enough of their day of support. I felt like everything was taken care of, and that I didn't have to worry about a thing! When our schedule was off, the staff was flexible, and rolled with the punches. Amy's cupcakes were the talk of the town that night! I definitely recommend the flourless chocolate cupcakes! Delicious!

Joshua's catering made our wedding day. They are not kidding they write, "fresh. local. artisan" on their website. My groom and I talked up the food we had tasted to all of guests beforehand, and someone even said, "you're kind of pumping up this food... is there any way that it is that good?" but they ate their words later (ha!). Everyone raved about the food: we went with a vegetarian (portabello Napoleon), fish (butterfish with caper berry and tomato salsa) and chicken (pan-seared with locally grown mushrooms). Plus if you have the opportunity to work with their baker Amy on desserts, do so! She made an incredible pumpkin bourbon walnut streusel pie for us (among other fruit pies and a chocolate ganache) that I am still getting compliments on. We went with a very small, ceremonial cake-- basically for the cutting-- and I did not miss a bigger cake at all. Everyone from Joshua's was professional and friendly the day-of. We had some unusually cool weather (we were expecting 50+ degrees and it was around 40 instead) and they just wore layers and smiled through it.

We had an absolutely great experience working with Joshua’s Catering – in fact, we put down our deposit at the end of our tasting with them, without further discussion or debate. Laurie is fantastic to work with – responsive, thoughtful, pays close attention to detail – pretty much everything you could want from a planner perspective! The chef was fantastic, and we loved that we had delicious vegetarian options instead of just basic cheesy pasta option that another caterer we tested offered. We really didn’t have to give any second thought to the catering plans on the day of the wedding, and as far as we could tell everything was smooth and great. Chef Amy provided our baked goods and cake, and they were inhaled by our guests. Definitely recommend Joshua’s and would use them again in a heartbeat!

We had Joshua's for our wedding at the Morris Arboretum. We chose to go with a smaller catering company because we felt we would get more personalized attention, and better pricing - we were right! From the beginning, David (the chef) and Laurie (the coordinator) wanted to work with us closely on our menu and pricing. The cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres and antipasti table were amazing. The bartenders (so I heard) were great. Two hiccups - they forgot to serve an ENTIRE table of guests !! and then started doling out staff meals. So they ran out of steak. Kind of inexcusable. Also - the table layout was not what I had stipulated, so some of my good friends were in a corner instead of next to the dance floor. I heard feedback that the serving of the meals was not very coordinated, and some people's meals were whisked away while they were getting drinks, or in the photo booth. Overall, though, the food was really good and the price per person could not be beat. (and the wedding cake was SO GOOD.)

If you are looking to relax and not have to do anything the day of your wedding while other people wait on you, Joshua's is not for you.

We were very impressed by them initially and enjoyed our tasting, both Laurie, the coordinator, and David, the chef/owner were very nice.

However, during planning Laurie was not very responsive to emails.
The day of the wedding she didn't show up until dinner, and those she put in charge, try as they might to be helpful, were not equipped with the information that I had spent MONTHS preparing and discussing with Laurie.

The bartender, though sweet, was completely incompetent. Over-poured liquor we provided, did not know how to make (or sometimes even pronounce) basic drinks and our specialty cocktails. Staff cleared full glasses from tables.

Unfortunately, having no one in charge the day of who knew what they were doing meant that anytime there was a problem someone came to me. This was my wedding day, one I worked really hard to plan. Everything that my friends did and the vendors I hired did was absolutely perfect. If it wasn't for the complete lack of communication and attention to detail displayed by Joshua's, it would have been a perfect day. Instead, I see the whole day through the tint of having to run my own wedding.

I see all of the positive reviews for Joshua's Catering, and frankly I am sure I would have one too, if not for the COVID outbreak and Joshua's Catering response. My fiancee and I had a wedding planned with Joshua's Catering for May 9, 2020 (this was after the first date we had with Joshua's, which was changed due to an error on their end). Of course, due to the COVID outbreak and shutdown orders from the state and city, the wedding could not legally proceed. Joshua's informed us there were no other dates in 2020 and we would need to wait until 2021 to reschedule. My fiancee and I decided to cancel rather than reschedule for a myriad of personal reasons, including potentially moving from the Philadelphia area in 2020 and due to the uncertainty of when it would be safe for 200 people to gather again in large groups. We were prepared to negotiate on how much money we would be refunded back from Joshua's, as we recognized they had expended some small funds on things such as the tasting already. However, this company has outright refused to refund us ANY money and has informed us our only option is to reschedule to a date we did not contract for and may not even be feasible for us. Now, my fiancee and myself are forced to prepare a lawsuit and sue Joshua's Catering. They are currently holding about $15,000 of our money for a wedding that could not even occur. So, in addition to the emotional upset of not being able to have a wedding, we are struggling financially as well. Therefore, I cannot emphasize enough that NO ONE should contract with this company unless you wish to engage in a legal battle should something go wrong.

We went to this place to discuss our wedding plans, and the event coordinator, Tony Ann, repeatedly kept on adding additional expenses, and telling us that her boss wanted "at least such and such amount" for certain things. We kept on being bullied, and every time we tried to explain how we wanted to do our wedding, she cut us off and insisted that they knew how to do our wedding better than us. At one pint she showed her hand in a gesture that she was going to hit us because we insisted she was being unreasonable about certain details.

This place has TERRIBLE customer service, is incredibly ARROGANT, and definitely OVER PRICED. I would not wish this place on anyone. for this amount of money, you could get a much better service at a MUCH nicer hall!
