Superb Officiant for Virginia Wedding and Premarital Counseling
Reverend Louis was a top notch officiant for our May 2025 Virginia wedding and his package he provides with the premarital counseling was a treasured part of our wedding planning. He is very well organized, providing guidance and great expertise, and was flexible to accommodate our late ceremony start and redoing some posed pictures since our photographer missed the ceremony and arrived later. He only books one event for the whole day which helps in these situations and brings such a cheerful, joyous presence. Our families loved the ceremony and we loved our whole time with Louis! - The Bride -

When we were planning our wedding, I didn't think that the officiant would be the highlight for so many of our guests. But let me tell you, he was all people could bring up.
Day of, Reverend Louis did an amazing job. He's incredibly charismatic and loves being around weddings. Dude radiated joy and brought a great energy to the day. He also went out of the way to attend our rehearsal dinner (even though it was a 90 minute drive for him) and mingled with our families.
Best of all though, he takes the time to get to know you before the wedding. We met up several times beforehand which was fantastic because A) we got to build a custom ceremony and B) he actually got to know us. I've been to wedding where it's obvious the officiant met the couple the day of and Reverend Louis is the complete opposite. So much so we had people who assumed we had known him for years.
Thanks again Reverend Lou, we were truly blessed to have you officiate our wedding! -

As a bride planning my wedding, I didn't know what to look for in an officiant. I wanted someone who could capture the ceremony of the day while interjecting fun and playfulness that really defines my relationship with my now husband. Reverend Louis did that and more. He walked us through the process, making it easy for us to collectively plan the perfect ceremony for us. His pre-wedding sessions with us as a couple really brought our closer together and kept our relationship at the forefront of our wedding planning. He normalized all of the anxiety and stress that goes into wedding planning and kept reminding us what was important- our relationship. During the rehearsal and the ceremony, he did an amazing job incorporating our guests and making them truly feel part of the event. We were thrilled with our ceremony and it remains one of my best memories on a day filled with them. I'm really grateful to Reverend Louis and would wholeheartedly recommend him to be anyone's officiant. -

Best Officiant of All Time!
Rev. Louis is the best officiant there is. He really cares about all the couples that he marries and takes the time to get to know both people individually and as a couple. He spends time making the ceremony personal to you and rehearsing with you (with a lot of laughs). After every meeting we have with him, my husband and I always said how good we felt once we left because talking to him really does make you feel less stressed and confident about your wedding. Rev. Louis is amazing and one of a kind! -

My now wife knew Rev Louis from a relative in hospice. My wife had nothing but great things to say about him when deciding who should be our officiant. Rev Louis held meetings with us which allowed us to get to know each other. Rev Louis is professional, outgoing, hilarious, and compassionate. We couldn’t have picked a better officiant. -

The wedding officiant of our dreams!!
We hired Rev Louis Schwebius for our wedding ceremony in northern Virginia October 2023. The entire process, from our initial consultation video call, to our marriage counseling sessions and finally the ceremony exceeded every expectation. Rev Lou worked with us to customize our ceremony exactly how we wanted it, with as much or little religions undertone as we wanted. He was fun, personable and high energy. Our wedding guests are still raving about him and I had several friends ask for his information to use him as their own officiant. He also came to the rehearsal at no cost, worked seamlessly with my planner and DJ, and he and his wife even attended our rehearsal dinner, welcome party and reception! Once we met Rev. Louis we booked him immediately - he was the perfect fit! He took the time to get to know us, helped us deepen our relationship, but more importantly delivered a truly customized 30 minute service unique to us. He was instrumental in making the whole process seamless & stress-free. Our guests were thrilled at his energy and he set the stage for our perfect day. We loved the way it felt like he was celebrating us as a couple and included everyone else in attendance. We would highly recommend him, we were 110% satisfied!!! -

I cannot say enough good things about Reverend Louis, the perfect wedding officiant for us. We built a personal relationship with him that made our ceremony all the more special. He had our backs 100 percent of the time, no matter what curveballs happened during the planning or the ceremony. It was the perfect blend of old school (getting to know us, helping us learn about ourselves and us as a couple) and new school (inclusive attitude about religion and marriage). -

Reverend Louis was an absolutely wonderful Officiant for us!
We had multiple meetings with him prior to help set it up, which was a very easy process with just a few assignments to help really define us, and it resulted in a very personal and heartfelt ceremony. He really made sure a piece of the two of us was cemented into it, not just a boilerplate job. All of our guests loved him and had a great time too.
Throughout the whole process he was welcoming, communicative, professional, and very Italian.
My only regret is that we could only go through the ceremony once.

We decided to work with Reverend Louis after having a one hour Zoom call with him. After talking with a couple of other officiants, we knew Reverend Louis would be the right choice for us because of the personal touch he said he would be able to bring to the ceremony versus having one of the other officiants who we didn’t know and who would just fill in the blanks of a standard wedding template.
I cannot overstate how much he delivered on his promise. Reverend Louis was one of the (if not the biggest!) hits of our wedding ceremony at Bluemont Vineyard. At this point, I can no longer count how many people have approached us to tell us how much they adored our officiant. Some of our guests even wanted his contact information to thank him themselves.
I truly feel Reverend Louis had our best interests at heart and wanted to both represent us, support us, and guide us from the moment we met until our wedding day. This was reflected in our ceremony, which was personalized based on our pre-marital counseling sessions. Reverend Louis brought joy to our wedding day and made it feel like what it truly was: a celebration that involved all of our guests.
If you’re wondering whether you should work with Reverend Louis, please don’t hesitate–working with him was one of our best wedding decisions and helped to make our wedding day one we’ll never forget. -

Rev. Lou is the best! So personable, professional and funny! We wanted someone who was flexible and met our non-denominational wedding needs. We couldn't have made a better choice! The pre-marriage counseling sessions were great and we got a lot out of them. We loved his process for creating our ceremony outline and how involved we were able to be! Rev. Lou officiated our wedding in June and we're still hearing great things from our family about our ceremony 6 months later. We don't attend church regularly but it was important to us to have an officiant that truly cared about getting to know us and produce a meaningful ceremony that we would always remember. We met with Rev. Lou once a month in the 6 months leading up to our wedding and got so much more out of it than we expected. Reverend Lou was truly the most perfect wedding officiant imaginable. In all respects, start to finish.
He will have multiple meetings with you as a couple before the big day—first to get to know you and learn about your vision. Then he will meet to review the general wedding ceremony elements and find out what is important to you—my fiance and I were relieved to know that we did NOT need to feel pressure to create our own vows! I imagine that if you want him to just create something for you with limited input on your part he of course could do that. But since most of us want to be more involved and put our own imprint on things, he has a wonderful system that gets you very connected to the process and helps build positive momentum toward your special day 💜
As homework he will give you a collection of various readings that are possible for each part of the wedding. And the instruction is for you each to privately review and rate which ones resonate with you and then meet together to compare these and process why you chose them. Then together you select which are your top choices as a couple. When you meet with Louis the 3rd time you will share all of your results with him and he will take them and create the most extraordinary ceremony you could imagine—one that is unique to you as a couple and perfect for the occasion. He will also review the logistics of the day so you will be prepared. He was extremely soothing and reassuring to us with our wedding jitters and reminded “just look at me” if you ever forget what to do or say because he will coach you through it!
So many people at the wedding remarked on what an amazing job he did, and how special he made the ceremony. Although the day itself was such a blur, when we went back and listened to an audio recording together, we were overcome by the beauty of the words and the lovely tapestry he created. We are extremely grateful to him and recommend him 100%!! -

Reverend Lou made our wedding so special and prepared the perfect ceremony just for us. The ceremony was engaging/fun and we got a ton of compliments after. To be complexly honest, we were anxious about the process in the beginning but Reverend Lou made it so easy and fun!! He is so funny and really cares about all his couples. We would leave his office laughing each time! We wanted to create something a little different because we were trying to blend two cultures together and incorporate a tea ceremony. You should definitely hire Reverend Lou for all your ceremony needs!!! -

When we had to quickly change our planned large wedding to an intimate backyard wedding due to COVID, Rev. Louis was there for us. When he states his goal is “for your wedding ceremony to be a joyful, personal and memorable event”, he’s not kidding! Those in attendance of our micro wedding were amazed at his message of inclusivity and made sure to weaving of both our religious and spiritual beliefs in a very personal level. Our children were also included in the most special way as we are a blended family. We will never forget his charge to us and will also always remember the laughter he brought to celebrate our joy in a crazy time. -

"Best ceremony ever"
Reverend Schwebius worked diligently with us for months in advance to make sure that not only was he prepared to perform the ceremony we wanted, but also to ensure that we were prepared to embark on married life together. The advance counseling meetings helped him know us as a couple and also gave us further confidence in our relationship and communication skills. He provided options for us in every aspect of the ceremony, but always went with what we asked, often adding his own flare. At the conclusion of the ceremony, many guests, and also our DJ, made sure to tell us the ceremony was the best they had ever seen. Reverend Schwebius worked to get the crowd excited and engaged before we ever entered the room and captivated everyone's attention throughout while honoring our love. It was more perfect than we could have ever imagined because of him. -

And while my DH was hesitant to participate is pre-wedding counseling sessions, they were insightful and not too heavy. Rev. My husband and I were looking for an officiant early on in our engagement when we went to a friends wedding that he was officiating - and we knew during that ceremony that we wanted him to be our officiant! He does not have any religion requirements, which was important to us as we are different religions and neither of us are converting (nor are we very religious people), and he still takes the take to get to know you BEFORE the ceremony, so he is not a stranger officiating your ceremony!
Rev. Lou will do 4 meetings with you prior to the wedding (one a month up to the wedding), for typically 1.5 or 2 hours each session. For the first two, we focused primarily on what we wanted in our ceremony, and he gives you workbooks to help you choose things -- or you can bring in your own readings/traditions (as we did that and used his!), and he will accommodate whatever you want. The last two sessions are based around pre-marital counseling, so just discussing topics that are important in marriage such as communication, trust, etc. He really spends time getting to know you, which I loved!
He comes to the rehearsal (which is great because sometimes officiants don't come to that) to make sure everyone is on the same page, and showed up very early to the ceremony. He officiated an amazing ceremony. It was a super hot day, and he saw how hot I (the bride) was getting, so he easily sped things up (and asked us beforehand to make sure it would be ok if he cut some things). I am extremely happy with Rev. Lou and would recommend him to anyone looking for a great officiant!! -

Unlike other officiants we met with, Rev. Lou made it clear that he wanted to get to know us over several counseling sessions so that he could craft a ceremony that was a true reflection of our personalities. Rev. Lou made the sessions enjoyable and they ended up not only helping him get to know us, but my husband and I learned a lot about ourselves in the process. The end result was a wedding ceremony that was unique and joyous. Many of our guests commented that it was the first wedding they've been to that they actually enjoyed. :) In addition, Rev. Lou gave us some excellent foundational skills for building a strong marriage and a true partnership. We can't recommend Rev. Lou enough - he is a wonderful person and an excellent officiant. Thanks to Rev. Lou, our wedding was fun and unique and our marriage has a strong base to grow from.
