We had planned to go to the court house while on vacation with immediate family then have a celebration in a couple of months with family and friends, however, the magistrate was out that day and we were recommended to call Barbara. What a happy turn of events! We called Barbara and within a few hours she was at our rental house and walking with us to the beach to marry us in front of the ocean. Way better than the court house environment, especially since we could bring our dogs! She asked questions about us and catered the ceremony to us and even added some unique outer banks information that made it so special. Barbara is very warm, professional, and thorough. She fit in great with our family and was very informative on the legal process. Although Barbara's services cost more than the magistrates, she is well worth the money! She came to us and saved us 2 hours of driving as well as making my beach wedding dreams come true. Thank you for all of our thoughtful additions to the service Barbara, we are so glad we found you! -

Wonderful wedding experience
My wife and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Barbara gave us a wedding that we will remember forever. We quickly learned that she has quite the outstanding reputation in and around the Outer Banks, and we can see why. Barbara was knowledgeable, professional, and flexible (our wedding plans changed last minute, and she quickly accommodated). We highly recommend My OBX Officiant! -

Best Officiant in OBX!
If you are looking for an officiant for your OBX wedding, look no further. Barbara is absolutely amazing to work with throughout the process. She took the time to get to know us as people by meeting with us as the wedding got close. Then she met with us again in the days before the wedding to walk us through everything and make sure it was everything we wanted. She is just a truly wonderful person and wrote us a beautiful ceremony that shared our love story with all our guests. We got so many compliments on her ceremony. She is also a total pro about making sure all of our documents were signed and turned in to the correct offices. We couldn't imagine our day without her!! -

Barbara is one of the most professional and genuine individuals I have ever met. Barbara has a bubbly and real personality so it’s impossible not to like her! She was very thoughtful and open when writing our ceremony script which made the process very easy and fun. She took the time to get to know us which lead to a very personalize script. During the ceremony she spoke with pose and love. Everyone loved her speech. Barbara is efficient and was a true gift to our ceremony. I highly recommend having her officiant your wedding as she is a genuinely kind person. -

When I first spoke to Barbara, I just had a feeling she was the one for our wedding. She was great with communicating, making sure we knew what we needed and conducting the ceremony. Barbara felt like family as she even took time to get to know us prior to the ceremony. We didn’t have a hand in our vows or the ceremony, we left them up to Barbara and she did a beautiful job! Our goal was to have a small, intimate marriage ceremony. We wanted a simple, very casual experience, but we wanted it to be special and meaningful for us.
After contacting, Barbara Mulford, she first set up a phone meeting. She convinced us that she really wanted to help us capture our commitment and love for each other during our future wedding.
She also met personally with us to see the spot we had chosen for the ceremony, as well as, chat a bit about our plans.
We wanted to create our vows, but were very open to ideas and guidance. Barbara sent us pages of samples to help spark our creativity. Once we put our thoughts on paper, Barbara helped tweak it into our perfect ceremony that we treasure.
She helped us every step of the way by handling all the paperwork, including filing our license with the Register of Deeds. She made our marriage process VERY easy.
We HIGHLY recommend, Barbara Mulford as a wedding officiant. She was very responsive, friendly, and kind throughout the planning process. Her professionalism and thorough, informative nature helped make our wedding a calm, comfortable experience. She took all the stress away. She was a PERFECT fit for us ensuring our wedding day is now a beautiful, special, and happy memory.

She was respectful of both of our faiths and helped us make the ceremony personal to us. She walked us though the ceremony and we were able to make changes that worked for us. Hands down an amazing ceremony
Rev Barbara was absolutely phenomenal. She put my husband and I at ease when we first met her. She is a very genuine and compassionate person. She is very detailed and provides you all of the steps to your ceremony. She was super flexible and when we changed our ceremony last minute due to Hurricane Ian she was quick to adjust as well. Would recommend her in a heartbeat. -

Barbara until the day of our wedding since my husband and I are from NJ and got married in NC, but she is so kind and welcoming, it did not feel like our first time meeting! She communicates often and well, guided us through the whole process to make sure we were prepared for the day of, sent reminders, and even filed our paper work for us after the wedding so we didn't have to worry about it! Barbara is both a fantastic person and officiant
Barbara exceeded our expectations and made our ceremony even better than we could have imagined. As a gay couple we were a little nervous about finding an officiant, but Barbara is an absolute wonderful human being and made us feel so comfortable. It was an absolute joy having her as our officiant. Getting married in an unfamiliar area was enough of a challenge for us, but with Barbara we knew that we didn't have to worry about the ceremony because she constantly communicated with us to give us a list of recommended readings and even met with us the day before the wedding to ensure that everything was in order. -

Barbara Mulford was an absolute joy to work with and I couldn't recommend her more! When we decided at the last minute to relocate the wedding to our porch (it gets WINDY on the beach in October!) she accommodated us immediately. Her words during the ceremony were so beautiful and she really brought out the magic of the moment with simple gestures like clasping our ring fingers together. Reverend Barbara Mulford- Like a Lifelong Friend at Your Wedding
Reverend Barbara is a fantastic lady! I spoke with Barbara over the phone on 9/20 about an elopement - she was incredible patient and kind. I told her I was scared of marriage (I'm 54 and never before married) she said it was normal butterflies - BUT she did not want "any of my brides" feel they HAD to get married. She explained other means of "security" besides marriage. She talked me off the edge and had me crying HAPPY tears by the end of our conversation. We picked a wedding date of 9/28. In the short window of time Reverend Barbara sent us multiple links and was kind enough to help us find flowers and even set up a photographer for us. The ceremony was lovely. Reverend Barbara's words were beautiful and warm. We felt that we had known Reverend Barbara for years as a close friend. If we lived in the Outer Banks, I would surely want Reverend Barbara as a lifelong friend. I cannot say enough positive things about Reverend Barbara, she is an incredible. I whole heartedly say to pick Reverend Barbara to share your once in a lifetime event! -

If you’re looking for a officiant to get married on the beach or anyone in Dare County, Hire Barbara, Barbara was a wonderful officiant. She was calm but also excited, loving, and very engaged during the ceremony. She made us and our guests at ease and really helped us create the perfect evening on the beach, Our family loved the ceremony and the words she has chose to make it so special for us. we have been email back and fourth for a good while, she very good at communicating, and letting you know everything you need to know about your wedding, We met with her 1/2 hour before the wedding for the first time, and it felt like we’ve known each other forever. we had a bit of a paperwork issue, and she handled it very smoothly, not stressing us out, she handled it right then and there. We loved how she gave us the structure but also the freedom to create the type of ceremony we desired. we even had a prayer in the ceremony that we loved. We would definitely recommend Barbara to anyone that needs a officiant in the OBX!

Sunrise Ceremony on the beach
Barbara was awesome! She was essentially in making our little ceremony happen. We wanted to be married on the beach at sunrise on very short notice, and Barbara responded to our request promptly. She has information we needed and more we didn’t know we needed! The day of our wedding she was early and had prepared a beautiful service for us. She was excited and exuded happiness which really helped set the tone, especially so early in the morning. I love our little wedding day, and without Barbara, it just wouldn’t have been so special. We have so much gratitude for Rev. Mulford and her services on our special day! Planning a wedding from out of town can be hectic; Barbara spoke with us by phone beforehand and provided us with so much useful wedding planning info, including getting to know us as a couple, offering other vendor contacts, and info on the OBX area- this eased much of the work we would have otherwise been researching on our own. On our wedding day, Rev. Mulford arrived promptly and got right to work on our marriage license. She is professional yet warm. Most importantly, for our ceremony she tailored her words, speaking to us as a couple, and truly touched everyone’s hearts who were present with the words she shared. Our ceremony couldn’t have been any more perfect, and that was largely in part to her. We are so blessed we had Barbara! Thank you Barbara, for gifting us such an immeasurable blessing and making our wedding day so unforgettable and meaningful to everyone there. We will always be so appreciative for you. Barbara did a phenomenal job officiating our wedding, and we can't speak highly enough about her. We were strapped for time as Chris was deploying, and we were trying to get married before he left. We had no idea where to start and were actually going to get married at a detention center on Roanoke. Unfortunately, we didn't have witnesses, and asking around led us to Barbara.
She was there from the beginning helping us through any potential hiccups with the marriage license, pointing out some of the more scenic locations available for our ceremony, had intimate knowledge of the locations, and was able to quickly write up a personalized ceremony to make the occasion even more special. It was more either of us could have asked for, and we felt well taken care of. The moment we heard her jovial voice, we knew everything was going to be fine.

We were recently married in the Outer Banks and our search for an officiant lead us to Barbara. From my very first conversation with her, I felt that she truly understood our vision for our ceremony. Eric and I got married on October 1, 2020 and our wedding was wonderful. Rev Barbara made our wedding so special we couldn't have ask for it to be any different. It was like she had known us for years instead of just a few weeks. She knew exactly what we wanted and we got to have the wedding at the place we were staying. It was wonderful so whether you are like us and have only 3 weeks to plan your wedding or have been planning it for over a year, we would recommend Rev Barbara. She will make your day very special because she cares and wants to make your day the very best.
P.S. Even though we only actually had invited 3 people we had over 75 to 80 attending, on the beach. It was great! -

We had a wonderful experience with Barbara. She truly cares about what she does and getting to know the couples she marries. She was extremely easy to work with and very flexible to our changing plans. She has excellent resources for us to use for other vendors for our wedding as we aren’t local to the area. We are so thankful for Barbara! We planned a simple elopement, which was complicated by COVID and a change in vacation homes. Barbara was immensely helpful every step of the way. She was very patient and flexible and provided excellent recommendations for vendors and sites for the ceremony. She is responsive and organized, taking care of all of the post-wedding paperwork. Barbara did an amazing job at our wedding. We wanted to say the least amount we could so she did majority of the talking. Everything she said was beautiful and perfect. She is very nice and courteous. She always answered my questions asap. She gave tips on other wedding related things. Even questions I had outside of her job duties she helped me with. She let us know of a great area for the wedding since we had handicap people in our wedding. We were at the Coquina Beach inlet and just used the built in benches they had at the end of the walkway so no one had to get in the sand but still had the oceanview. We met her a few days in person before the wedding since we lived in a different state and you can tell she really cares about the couple she is performing the ceremony for. Her prices are good and she is very efficient in making sure everything goes as smooth as possible. When we went to get our marriage license the lady's in the court house asked who our officiant was and when I told they said your in good hand that shes the best. And they were right. You will not be disappointed if you hire Barbara. -

Barbara put together an amazing ceremony for our wedding day that far exceeded our expectations. We had so many compliments from our guests about how deep and meaningful the ceremony was. we had traveled 11hrs with 2 young kids .when we got there weather wasn't working in our favor but Barbara Mulford was a great help we also stayed in contact she helped us find new location since we couldn't have down on beach but she went above and beyond to find us something still on beach but protected from rain. We were planning to have our wedding on carova beach North Carolina, we found Barbara's website and contacted her from Pennsylvania. She helped us with everything we would need when we got there. We decided to get married on September 18th, 2019. We wanted to be on the beach with our jeeps and a few close friends, and even though we picked the windiest day we could our ceremony was wonderful. My husband and I got married in Kill Devil Hills at the beginning of October with Barbara as our officiant and we were beyond pleased with her services. From the first meeting with Barbara in May, we knew we wanted her to be there on our special day. She has the kind of friendly personality that makes you feel like you've known her for years and offers a feeling of comfort during a stressful (but exciting!) time. We met with her on multiple occasions, spoke on the phone, and had many e-mail conversations to make sure we were on the same page in the months leading up to our wedding, making it all very simple. Barbara also did a wonderful job honoring my husband and I's different cultures and created the perfect ceremony that combined our religious and cultural beliefs. She does a great job of suggesting things to say or do during the ceremony but doesn't push anything on you and is truly just a considerate, personable, understanding individual and a great officiant.
