I loved working with Jo and the rest of the Powder Me Pretty team for my wedding! As someone with monolids, I was nervous about finding a wedding makeup artist that would be skilled enough to work WITH my monolids versus against them. When I reached out to Jo, she was understanding of my concerns and shared a few photos of monolidded brides she's worked with in the past. During and after my hair and makeup trial, Jo was super open to feedback I had to get the makeup look just right, and she provided helpful tips to help with dryness and longevity of the makeup on the actual wedding day.
On the day of the wedding, Jo (makeup), Brandelyn (hair), and Jessica (hair & makeup) were all amazing to work with! We had an early day starting at 7:30am, but they were all punctual and ready to go. There was no hair or makeup look they weren't able to pull off for the bridal party, and everyone looked like the best versions of themselves! I also appreciated Brandelyn being adaptable when I surprised her with a headpiece I needed to wear for the Chinese tea ceremony :) If you're looking for a talented and fun hair & makeup team who can handle a diverse group of hair types and skin tones, Powder Me Pretty is for you!

I truly loved my experience with Powder Me Pretty! The owner, Joanna, was incredibly communicative, helping me find the right artist for my vision and giving me updates and details along the way. I got to have Kella do my hair and makeup and she was so lovely to have with me on my wedding day! She was kind and calm, helping to add to the serene morning and truly all of our hair and makeup was gorgeous. I am a picky person and Kella listened to every idea I had helping me find the right look for my wedding day that lasted all day. This was also my first time doing airbrush and it was flawless on me, my friends, and some mature skin! I almost highly recommend a trial - It really helped me get to know the look I wanted and get to know Kella ahead of time! -

I absolutely loved working with Powder Me Pretty! Rachael was my stylist, and she did my hair and makeup as well as hair for two bridesmaids and my officiant.
Rachael was so awesome. Laidback and funny, and so dang good at her job. I looked like the very best version of myself, and both the hair and makeup lasted all day and night in peak summer. My bridesmaids and officiant were also delighted with their hair and appreciated Rachael's willingness to work with them on less traditional looks. We all remarked that we on that day, we really looked like we had always dreamed of looking!
In addition to being an amazing stylist, Rachael was also such a pleasure to be around. I was so happy to get to spend the morning of the wedding with her, plus our trial time in the gorgeous Powder Me Pretty studio. Such a kind, calm presence. She also sourced some glitter eyeshadow for me between my trial and the wedding to bring all my rhinestone cowgirl dreams to life.
Would recommend 100%!!

I am SO HAPPY I chose Powder Me Pretty to be part of our wedding day. Leading up to our wedding Joanna was extremely friendly, professional, and easy to work with. Communication was always seamless and she was always quick to respond to all of my questions and trust me when I say I had A LOT of questions. On our wedding day, Joanna and Rachel did an amazing job getting my bridesmaids, my mom, and I looking and feeling our best. They really listened to everyone's requests and are just extremely talented. I went in a totally different direction with my makeup than we had done at my trial, which definitely made me nervous, but Joanna CRUSHED IT. I had zero changes to my hair or makeup and loved everything. Thank you to Joanna, Rachel, and Powder Me Pretty for being part of our day and for being such a joy to work with!! I would recommend them to anyone!!! -

We hired Powder me Pretty for our June 2020 wedding, which was postponed until September 2022. Joanna was wonderful to coordinate with and patient with our 3 date changes, and our artists were the BEST! We had so much fun getting ready with Brandelyn and Jessica, and every single person who had services done were very happy with both hair and makeup. Especially for wedding parties it can be such a crapshoot since you don't get trials, but these two really understood what everyone asked for, and nailed each of their looks. -

I was so impressed by PMP. I did a trial a few months before my wedding, and on the wedding day decided to do something completely different - it turned out beautifully & wasn't an issue at all. We even finished EARLY. So thankful for this crew! -

Powder Me Pretty did hair and makeup for me, my mom and my bridesmaids on my wedding day and they are incredible! We worked with Joanna and Kella for makeup and hair (respectively) and they were just amazing. I can never articulate how I want things done - I'm the person who sits down in the hairdresser's chair, pulls up a photo from Pinterest and says "I want that" - and Joanna and Kella totally read my mind! I felt absolutely beautiful on my wedding day - quite literally like a princess. All my bridesmaids were thrilled with their hair and makeup too, and they were so fun to have hang out with us all day. Powder Me Pretty is truly a dream team and totally crushed bringing my wedding-day-beauty-vision to life! -

What a fun and special experience to get ready with my daughter and her three sisters before her mountain wedding in Asheville, NC. Joanna and her talented Powder Me Pretty crew were so fun as we spent the day being pampered. Having our makeup professionally applied and our hair beautifully styled by these ladies was such a treat! All three ladies did their magic just as requested by each of us so that we all felt comfortable and not overdone, but specially primped for such an important day. Joanna and Brandelyn took care of me on my day. I was a nervous wreck at times because my spray tan became streaky and some things were running late. Joanna kept calm through it all and Brandelyn was as sweet as can be. My maid of honor who had her makeup professionally done in Miami for her wedding asked Joanna, “Wow! Where were you on my wedding day?!” Joanna also took care to do my grandmother’s makeup, which came out lovely. I had warned Joanna that I tend to sweat a lot, so I hired her for extra hours for touch-ups throughout the night. Joanna was like an angel, anticipating my needs, even coming out to a wet and muddy field once (which I did not ask her to do) because she knew I was about to have an important moment and that I was a little dewey with all the post-rain humidity. I think Joanna must have touched up my makeup 4 times that night. She even brought a curler to touch up my hair- something else I didn’t have to ask for. I never felt like I had to look for her, I always knew where she was and I always felt like she was there for me, really looking out for me.
My bridesmaids and grandmother had their makeup and hair last all night. Again, I sweat a lot and the humidity didn’t help when I took photos outdoors, but Joanna was ON it!
Throughout the planning of my wedding, with all the emails and the trials, Joanna was a professional. She answered all of my emails in a timely manner, was upfront about her fees so I never had to worry about hidden charges, was punctual, and the girl knows her stuff!!! She put just the right amount of makeup on so that it didn’t feel heavy, but it was still enough to accentuate my features and be picture ready.
Brandelyn- I had people, the shy types that never come up to me to talk, who just had to compliment me on my hair! I should also mention I had clip-in extensions put in my hair. She did a half up-half down do. My natural hair was significantly shorter than the extensions, but Brandelyn made it all work together so nicely that it all looked like it was mine! I even contacted her for advice on what to buy, since this was my first time ever using them, and she was very helpful through texts.
I should also say that this was a destination wedding for us, which made planning appointments and arranging payments a little more complicated with some vendors, but these girls made it all a smooth process!
These girls do beautiful work and are so nice to work with. You won’t be sorry!

One of the best things you can do as a bride is pick the right team and Powder Me Pretty is truly the most amazing choice for all your beauty needs as they are so easy to work with and have a range of skills for whatever you want on your big day!
I hired Joanna and her team for my entire party which included hair and makeup for 11 women. They were extremely organized with a pre-set schedule and everything set-up and ready when we arrived. This is is a must to reduce stress on the big day!
Joanna and her team are skilled at airbrush makeup, which none of us had ever done before, so some were nervous. After seeing how amazing we looked, everyone requested airbrushing! Each girl wanted something different and all were able to deliver flawless make-up across the entire range from natural to smoky eye to dramatic. Same with hairstyles.
Joanna in particular did my makeup as the bride and I was blown away, I even changed my color palette/style from our test run and she was able to take my feedback live and deliver way beyond my expectations. She is truly talented, but more importantly she was a wonderful person to work with.

It wasn’t quite right for me but we tried again and it was absolutely PERFECT! So natural looking yet beautiful! She also did my sister in law and my brides. We were soo very pleased. We’re complimented by many.. Thank you Joanna... I would recommend her HIGHLY!!

Chelsea Sent on 05/23/2018Joanna is fantastic. She did the makeup for me, two bridesmaids, my mother and mother-in-law for my wedding. I opted to do a trial run before the big day. We met at her studio in Woodfin. After a brief discussion and some vague pictures/ideas, Joanna made me feel red carpet worthy. My makeup was perfect. She suggested a slightly darker lip than I had originally suggested and she was totally right, it was perfect in the photos.
On the day she was on time, friendly, and set up quickly. We had discussed a schedule previously, and she stayed true to the timeline. I was delivered disappointing news while in the chair, immediately after she finished my eyeshadow, and I started to cry. Joanna helped catch the tears, and fixed my face without a complaint, she was very kind. She is definitely someone you want on your team. -

Kelly Sent on 03/09/2016Rachel and Hannah were fantastic! My whole bridal party, and the MOB/MOG looked absolutely gorgeous for our wedding. Hannah and I had a consultation a few weeks prior to the wedding and decided afterwards that we would switch up the colors for the day of. The communication was great prior to the wedding and Joanna helped arrange for the girls to have all of the right products to accommodate the various skin colors in my bridal party. I had only ordered falsies for myself and my mom, but thankfully Hannah brought enough for everyone as one of my bridesmaids decided she wanted those while in the makeup chair. The airbrush makeup lasted all evening – through dancing and kissing! -

She is a true artist as well, I gave her an idea of what I wanted and let her have creative freedom to use the colors that worked best with my skin. She chose everything perfectly and I have never felt more beautiful. It was my first time with faux lashes and she walked me through what she would do and what it would feel like, which I really appreciated. She also gave me a touch-up kit that had everything I needed to keep my makeup fresh the entire night. Joanna was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her! -

Got the airbrush and it made my skin look flawless. Mind you, this was the first time I had makeup on. So I was also terrified. But she listened to me. I wanted to look natural. And she went with it. My sister was more adventurous and she look fabulous too. :) -

I was so grateful that she was available to do makeup for my mother and me last minute. She was extremely flexible and even did eyelashes one of my bridesmaids after she finished with us. I absolutely loved my makeup, which was so elegant and natural looking. I couldn't have been happier with how flawless my airbrushed skin looked in pictures. Joanna was super sweet, calm and professional on my big day. I would absolutely refer Powder Me Pretty to any bride! -

I knocked one star off due to two small issues I had. I mentioned in both of my trials that I did want to opt for the hair extensions. In my email correspondence, my quote was based off of having the hair extensions. I assumed that since I had talked in person and had been quoted in the email for the extensions that it was taken care of. Unfortunately, this was lost in translation and my hair stylist did not have the extensions the day of my wedding. My hair still turned out beautiful, and held up all day! I just wish it had been a little longer.
My second complaint is that I said I needed to be completely done by 2pm for pictures. I was done with hair and makeup between 15-20 minutes late (I did have to get out of the chair to talk to my photographer at the door due to bridesmaids not being dressed yet, which contributed about 3 minutes to the overdue time).
Overall, I say absolutely go with this vender! I do not regret hiring Powder Me Pretty at all, I just wish I had double confirmed we were on the same page. -
