Portola inn exceeded every one of our expectations! Their flexibility and dedication to making your special day as perfect and as stress free as possible is unmatched. We had an amazing experience at this venue. They were incredibly flexible when it came to the possibility of bad weather and made the transition indoors feel effortless. The ceremony lawn is stunning, and the indoor Carriage House is just as beautiful. There are tons of great photo spots around the property. The wedding coordinator Lisa was organized, supportive, and so easy to work with. Overall, this venue exceeded our expectations in each and every way and we highly recommend it! -

Amazing venue with beautiful views and wonderful owners
Lisa and Tom were so caring and flexible with us for our special day. They made the utmost effort to make the day perfect for us. There were multiple times I called Lisa about changes in the plan and their care and attention to detail made the day so wonderful. I can’t thank Tom and Lisa enough for everything they did for us.
I would recommend this venue to anyone. It has beautiful views, a calming environment, and great prices for a venue in the Central Coast. -

Oak shaded garden hill
Family friends of the O'Malleys and got to get married on their property last year, best venue decision ever. Surroundings provide beautiful backdrops, and the amenities took the stress out of planning a wedding! -

Amazing venue
I cannot say enough great things about Portola Inn, from the beginning to the end and everything in between. Tom and Michael did a fantastic job with everything possible and really went above and beyond. The property itself is just absolutely beautiful in every way possible, pictures truly do not do it justice. We are extremely happy with the entire process from the planning to the day of, even when hurdles came up, Tom and Michael handled them with ease and made the entire process that much easier. I truly cannot say enough fantastic things about the venue and the people running it. -

Like Having Your Family Backyard Wedding
My husband and I knew we wanted to get married at the Portola Inn before we were even engaged! After our good friends were married there a few years before us, we knew that was the place for us too. We wanted our wedding to feel like a dressed-up, backyard, beer garden, hangout kind of party and we got exactly that. The outdoor spaces at the Portola Inn are not just stunning oaks and dappled sunlight, but Tom and Peggy have made such thoughtful decisions and updates to make the spaces serve unique purposes but that flow together seamlessly. Their property is like the backyard we wished was in our family and working with them to plan it felt like having (very qualified professional) family helping us with all the details. They are such kind people and helped us make the day amazing. I could go on and on, but what I'll say is that if California Oaks and the Central Coast are part of your wedding vision, you couldn't ask for a better venue and planning team than Tom and Peggy at the Portola Inn.

Fabulous,Memorable, and very appreciative
The Portola Inn is a beautiful and gorgeous venue. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable in making the wedding a memorable experience. I’ve been there on a couple of other events and they to were also spectacular. I highly recommend them and give them a 10 Star rating.

Perfect Venue
My wife and I Hosted a bridal shower at Portola Inn for our new daughter in law!
The Carriage house was a beautiful facility for our event. Tom and Peggy were excellent hosts and their vast experience with like events was priceless. It was a perfect evening. The carriage house is beautiful and was a perfect back drop for amazing pictures to capture the event!! On top of everything it was so affordable! Overall a great place to create memories for all major life events! A++++ -

Beautiful and Charming
Portola Inn was everything we were looking for in a venue and more. From the gorgeous views and charming landscaping, to the ample amenities and areas for hosting; Portola Inn was nothing short of magical. Best venue in the Central Coast
Our wedding was amazing, I still cry thinking about it. Tom and Peggy worked with us to help make our day perfect. I can't thank them enough. Everything went so smoothly I was able to relax and enjoy the wedding (and eat!). I can't thank them enough. -

Perfect Spot for Our Fantasy Wedding

A Perfect Day
I had my wedding rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception all at the Portola Inn. The venue looked amazing and got many positive comments from our friends and family about what a nice place this was. The staff was very attentive to detail, communicated well throughout the planning process, and was very supportive on the wedding weekend as our coordinators, too. I highly recommend using the Portola Inn and their staff for your future event. -

Hidden Gem in Atascadero
I am a wedding photographer and we adored working at the Portola Inn. What a hidden gem in the heart of Atascadero! I loved all of the cute corners to take portraits and the owners are the sweetest. You can tell how much they love this property. -

This is the place!
The Omalley’s are extremely knowledgeable, kind, and will help make your day flow perfectly! Both my now husband (eek!) and I had no clue what we were doing. No help from family or otherwise. The owners at Portola inn helped us with every aspect of planning and took a tremendous amount of stress off. We also were able to house the brides 98 year old grandfather for the duration of the week who required ADA access. Both of our families and friends have raved about the event and how amazing it was! Simply flawless! And the photos- the beautiful oak trees and surrounding greens made this stunning venue perfect! We needed very little decorations! It’s an incredibly naturally beautiful. Just book it! You will not regret it for a moment!-

Wonderful experience
Tom, Peggy, and Jana gave us such a great experience. We had a wonderful wedding day. We thought it would be hot, but being on a hill with the shade of the trees, it was perfect. Many of our guests asked us how we found this venue because they were so charmed by it. I'm so glad we found the Portola Inn! -

The BEST wedding venue!
My husband and I got married at Portola Inn in June and it was hands-down the best decision we made. Portola Inn is a beautiful venue but above all, the staff is off-the-charts INCREDIBLE. They made us feel so prepared and excited for our wedding day. They offer coordination the day-of but that doesn’t full encompass all that they do for you…they truly go above and beyond for their couples. Peggy, Tom, and Jana are so genuine and they really care about your experience. If you’re thinking about having your wedding at Portola Inn, DO IT! You will not regret it. We are definitely coming back for our anniversaries and hopefully a vow renewal someday!! What an incredible place with the MOST incredible people. I cannot say enough good things about my experience…and don’t just take it from me- Every single one of my guests LOVED their time at Portola Inn and have been asking non-stop how I found this gem of a venue. My wedding day was the best day of my life and Portola Inn made it all possible! -

Most gorgeous venue on central coast!
I recently got married on 10/10/20 and I decided to change my wedding from 100 guests to 8 guests since both my father and father in law are at higher risk for COVID. Peggy and Tom were so sweet and understanding and were able to adjust my wedding package. I am SOOO happy I chose to get married at the Portola inn. The grounds are absolutely GORGEOUS and your wedding photos will look so amazing! Not only will you have a beautiful venue but Peggy also acts as an event planner which was so helpful! She was always very prompt in getting back to me with any questions or concerns I had and even referred me to amazing local vendors. On the day of the wedding Peggy was running around making sure everything was set up and helping with last minute details. Tom helped make sure that my arch was secure since it was such a windy day. He even helped my dad with his tie! Both Peggy and Tom went above and beyond and I can’t thank them enough. I felt very safe having my wedding during a pandemic at the Portola Inn. Peggy and Tom were respectful and made sure to have their masks on at all times. Do yourselves a favor and book your wedding at the Portola inn. You won’t regret it!-

Mother of the Bride’s review
From the moment I met Peggy I knew we were in the right place. Not only was the venue just gorgeous, but it was obvious in speaking with Peggy that she had the experience that we sorely lacked. She made wedding planning easy. She was organized, responsive to our ideas and questions and full of great suggestions for local caterers, DJs, and photographers. All her recommendations were spot on and our 2020 Wedding during a pandemic, came off without a hitch! We were able to have a heartfelt, lovely, social distanced but intimate wedding under the oak trees that no one will soon forget, thanks to Peggy’s expertise and guidance. We would highly recommend The Portola Inn for your next special event. In fact the plan is to have a wonderful 1st Anniversary Party there next year! -

A perfect day!
We booked with Portola Inn in April of 2019 for our October 17th, 2020 wedding. Of course as most of us getting married in 2020 experienced our plans changed from a 80-100 person wedding down to just 20, including us, and Peggy and Tom could not have done a more perfect job adapting to the changes, following all of the guidelines, and making our day more beautiful than we ever could have imagined. Peggy is an amazing coordinator, and made sure things I never even thought of got done. They made sure to set up everything in a socially distant way that didn’t feel cold or sterile, but instead warm and intimate. We honestly can’t imagine our day being any different now; it was perfect!-

What would I do without you?
We were less than 2 weeks away from our wedding when the world shut down. Peggy & Tom held our hand every step of the way up until that point and they were the first ones to make us feel better when EVERYTHING changed. There is no team better to take care of a couple going through all of this and anyone would be lucky to have them on their side in 2020, and beyond. -

Gorgeous venue for simple brunch wedding
Robert and I had an intimate and simple brunch wedding. We invited those closest to us and Tom and Peggy took care of the rest. We had about three sit-downs before our event and went over the details so we did not miss a thing. I was not prepared as Peggy mentioned several things at every meeting that I failed to think about! It was so nice knowing that someone was there who had done this before and had items at her venue just in case I forgot something. I really took the worrying out of all of it for me. I truly got to enjoy my day. By the time the day had arrived, we were calm and excited. Peggy and Tom were there for every need and we felt as if we were getting married at our family's house. It was such an intimate time for us. The venue was gorgeous and the most beautiful one we looked at. We are so blessed to have had the O'Malley's as part of our wedding and friends for life. Thank you, Peggy and Tom, for making our day an unforgettable one. -

Lovely venue

Perfect wedding venue!
It was fate that we happened upon the Portola Inn while searching for a venue in SLO county. They were our perfect fit with their beautiful property, organized and professional manner, and relaxed vibe. We wanted a venue that had a natural setting, and their gorgeous oak trees and up-kept gardens were more than we could have hoped for. Peggy was truly invaluable throughout the whole process as I was not the most knowledgeable or opinionated bride, and the planning sessions helped us make a lot of progress. Peggy sat with me through all of the details and her flexibility on the details I couldn't get narrowed down until the end was a blessing. Peggy also provided a list of recommended vendors from the beginning, which made my job of vetting vendors much easier and saved me a lot of stress. On the day of, Peggy and Tom coordinated seamlessly with all of our vendors and our 130 guests to make it a perfect day. In all, I couldn't have hoped for a more helpful and kind couple to help us have the best day of our lives. Thank you so much! -

Portola Inn - A Perfect Place for our Daughter's Wedding!
Peggy and Tom O'Malley have an amazing venue at Portola Inn. Their goal was to make our daughter's wedding day as perfect as possible. We gave them only 8 weeks and the wedding day was perfect. We worked well together and they wanted to make sure our dreams for the wedding day happened. They were personally invested in making the day beautiful. Their amazing staff served with big smiles and were available for whatever was needed. The venue was absolutely amazing. Even our local friends were amazed at the beauty of the Portola Inn which included the beautiful old oak trees and gardens! Our guests left saying this was the best wedding they had been to! What a compliment to our family but more importantly to Peggy and Tom for having an amazing location and for their service. Portola Inn is a great choice for a wedding or other event. We are so happy that we were able to have our daughter and new son's wedding day at Portola Inn! -

Beautiful venue!
The venue is beautiful. The ceremony location is the perfect spot if you want some trees and mountains. You do not feel like you are in Atascadero. For us the weather was prefect in August and there was always a slight breeze. -

Amazing!
I can't put into words how impressed I was with Tom and Peggy. They don't deserve a 5 rating, they deserve a 10 or 20 or whatever. The venue was beautiful. The only way to describe it, is "Tuscany meets Fairy Tale". My son's wedding was June 29, 2019 and it was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been too thanks to Tom and Peggy. We couldn't have pulled it off without them. I was trying to stay ahead of everything and every time I would make a suggestion, she was already on it. It was so nice not to have to worry about anything. She had many of the decorations that we used which saved us a lot of money. She suggested things that we never thought of. She was very patient and very understanding and solved a lot of our problems before we even saw them coming. We reserved the venue and then had to postpone it for a year. Tom and Peggy let us come up many times to view the venue and gave us ideas for decorating. Peggy was always very prompt returning our calls and we had many. We live 2 hours away so this was very helpful. Again, I can't express how wonderful these people are. If you decide this is the venue for you, you won't be disappointed. Tomand Peggy O’Malley at Portola Inn we’re so great to work with. They were organized and efficient so there was no second guessing . Plus, they kept things running smoothly behind the scenes when the event was occurring making it all seem so flawless. Their venue is lovely and has convenient parking. We had a 50’s diner theme which worked great with the decor they already had in place. We were all so pleased!! I highly recommend them! -

This is the third year that our non profit has held its "Installation of New Officers Luncheon" at the Portola Inn. This Inn is an historic property in rural Atascadero with beautiful gardens, an expansive lawn (ideal for receptions and parties), and a picnic area
in its own cove shaded by nearby majestic oaks. There is also an original black smith's forging area and a converted Carriage House. This is where we had our luncheon. Tom O'Malley was the perfect host and responded to our need for an indoor space with a speaker system and access to a refrigerator. This charming House, also has a stage for more visibility and dramatic presence. The Inn has a lot of charm with modern amenities. The staff was very friendly and helped with everything from parking to helping guests in the door with their potluck dishes. A visit to the Portola Inn is like stepping into the tranquility of another less-hurried, more gracious era. Thank you, Tom and to everyone at the Portola Inn. -

I love Portola Inn! I went for a natural and woodsy theme for my wedding and the oak trees that surround Portola Inn fit that perfectly! Peggy and Tom are so nice and very involved in the whole day (and planning) so that it goes smoothly! All my guests were surprised at how beautiful the venue was. It turned out that my wedding day was one of the hottest days of the summer. Thank goodness we had Portola Inn because you get a nice shade from the oak trees and a cool breeze in the afternoon (since its up on a hill). Also, Peggy and her crew made sure the water was fully stocked and that there was water wherever the guests were. Thanks Portola Inn! 10/10 -

Portola Inn is really a hidden gem of a venue. I especially love the canopy of oak trees that offers natural shade for the ceremony and dining sites. The historic buildings and immaculate landscape makes it so picturesque and enjoyable. Our guests kept commenting on how beautiful the venue was. Also Peggy and Tom are just the nicest people and really went out of their way to help understand our vision for the day and create some of the fun spaces we wanted. Peggy really serves as a wedding coordinator also! She met with us several times and offered helpful suggestions, ran the rehearsal and the organization of the day. She and her staff moved and set things up without us having to worry about a thing. Overall their experience in event planning and their beautiful venue can't be beat! -

Not only is the venue beautiful, but Tom and Peggy are easy to work with and truly want you to have the best weekend ever. We loved that there was so much included with the venue and that we were able to sleep on the property in the guest houses. We absolutely loved Portola Inn for our venue! It was beautiful and the perfect setting for our big day. We had approximately 115 people and the venue fit everyone easily. The carriage house is great for dancing and everyone loved the decor and ceremony location. Peggy and Tom were extremely helpful the day of and had everything under control, even with our crazy group. Our pictures turned out great and most of it is because of the venue was so easy to capture. -

After searching and visiting what felt like dozens and dozens of venues all up and down the central coast, we finally found the perfect place for our wedding. Tom and Peggy were incredibly helpful and a delight to plan our wedding with. When we first started planning this wedding thing we had no idea what we were doing, but they were an invaluable asset when it came to planning and coordinating the wedding.
They had plenty of lawn games for us to rent (Giant Jenga, Ladderball, Cornhole) and a beautiful, naturally shaded ceremony area flanked by large oak trees, The view out into Atascadero's hills is stunning, the setting sun bathed the entire area in a warm golden glow. Just look at some of the pictures and you can see how pretty this venue is. I also liked how the large oak trees spared our guests from the harshest of the sun's rays. At night, we danced in a cute Carriage House which fit our 50 guests or so comfortably. They had two guest houses for us and our groomsmen to stay for both the day before and the day of the wedding, and served delicious breakfast as well!
My wife and I live about 3 hours away from Atascadero so we did the majority of our planning remotely, and Tom and Peggy were very prompt with questions/ coordination issues. They were incredibly patient with us as well, and made sure all of our vendors were on the same page and knew what order things were happening.. After our wedding, many guests told us this was the best wedding they have ever been to, and I strongly believe that Portola Inn's location and easy-going nature had a lot to contribute to that!
If you are looking for somewhere to get married along the central coast, you owe it to yourself and your partner to visit this wonderful venue and consider it to host your special day! -

This review is long overdue. My husband and I were married at Portola Inn almost two years ago! It was a magical experience. The venue is stunningly beautiful! We had our ceremony and reception on their property. From the moment we drove up their drive way I knew that I wanted to get married there. Beyond the beauty of the venue Peggy and her team were incredible. They planned everything for me. I tend to be easy going and I didn't have a definite plan of how I saw the event going. Peggy helped me to think about what I really wanted and helped me make decisions that I would have never even realized needed to be made. The entire event, from rehearsal to reception went flawlessly. I had zero concerns or worries with Peggy's gentle hand guiding me through the event. Now, looking back at our wedding photos I can't believe we had such a beautiful wedding. The entire day was magical! -

Having our wedding reception at Portola Inn made for a perfect day. With a winter wedding we were worried about finding a reception site that would be both elegant and comfortable. Portola Inn fit the bill. Our reception was beautiful and easy. We just told Peggy what we wanted and the staff took care of everything. We didn't have to do a thing, just show up and enjoy. It was also lovely for some nighttime photos with the beautiful outdoor fire and lighted paths through the oaks. -

Not only did we have the honor of being one of the first wedding events at this venue, but we also had the privilege of renewing our vows at Portola Inn. It truly felt like home away from home. So far Peggy and Tom have been amazing! My fiance and I just booked our wedding at the Portola Inn for September of next year and we could not be more excited!!!! The moment we turned down the driveway to the Inn we knew this was it... Right when we entered we saw Tom walking the property checking on things and saying hello to his employees. This is a beautiful venue!!! I recently won an event held at the Portola Inn at the Atascadero Chamber event. The event included, wine, cheese, tour of the grounds as well as history about Atascadero straight from the Mayor O'Malley! RISE has hosted our annual Mother's Day Brunch picnic fundraiser here for the last several year, and it is a gorgeous and special venue! The staff are extremely attentive and helpful, providing everything from valet parking to beverage and food services. It feels like a special hidden oasis in the middle of Atascadero. All of our guests ooohed and ahhhed as they wandered the gardens, checked out the hand-painted signs and played with the old-fashioned yard games. The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce has an annual Women in Business luncheon each August and every year we are treated to kind hospitality from the owners Peggy and Tom O'Malley. They communicate details prior to our event, work great with our catering company and vendors and are prepared and on time the minute we arrive at their venue.

From the moment my fiancée and I decided to hold our wedding at the Portola Inn, Tom and Peggy O’Malley made us feel like VIP’s. They were available by phone or email whenever I had a question and were always prompt, helpful, and soothing when I was stressing out. Unlike a lot of other venues, the Portola Inn is truly a one-stop-shop. Tables, chairs, tablecloths, napkins, plates, cups, silverware (even decorations!)…they were all available onsite and ready to be used. It was such a load off my mind to not have to coordinate with a bunch of extra vendors!
The venue is naturally beautiful: towering oak trees, winding paths, flowers in bloom. It was the perfect backdrop for the elegant evening event that I had envisioned :) I chose to have the ceremony and reception on the lawn area and then move to the carriage house for cake and dancing. It worked so well! My guests were all very impressed with how smoothly the event went and the level of service we received from the event staff.
Staying in the Guest Cottage at Portola Inn during your wedding weekend means that you get to experience Peggy’s famous apricot French toast! This was one of my favorite moments: my bridesmaids and I had a slumber party the night before the wedding in the Guest Cottage and the next morning we were served breakfast in the dining room – complete with china plates and a silver tea set – before we went to get our hair and makeup done. It was so beautiful and relaxing…the perfect way to start a busy (but happy) day :)
To all brides-to-be: I know how overwhelming the planning process can be. Do yourself a favor and check out the Portola Inn…you will be glad that you did!

As everyone else has said, Tom & Peggy are the best! They made us feel at home on their property, and made it a non-stressful day. All of our guests commented on how gorgeous the venue was! Our photographer was so greatful for the beautiful scenic area for our pictures. I was not a very over-controlling bride, so I basically told Peggy to take what I had and run with it and she sure did. It was all perfect. I did not worry about a thing knowing that Tom and Peggy had it handled. And their staff! Their staff was amazing. I work for a property that has weddings so I know finding good staff is hard to find sometimes, but they have it there at the Portola Inn. I recently celebrated my baby shower at Portola Inn and I was so impressed with the site and how helpful the owners (Peggy and Tom) were. I am not big on decision making so it was nice to have their suggestions for how to make our shower special and represent our personalities.
All of my friends and family were so impressed at how beautiful the site was and I am still getting compliments about the venue. Peggy and Tom were so helpful from the time we booked to making sure the party went smoothly and that everyone had what they needed. I have never been to a wedding, party, or event where the owners were so attentive!
I know from all of the compliments that my friends and family plan on using this venue for any event coming up. Portola Inn is such a beautiful site with natural landscape and vintage props (perfect for pictures). We had our wedding at the Portola Inn and absolutely could not be happier! From our first meeting at the venue we knew we had made the right choice. The location managers (Tom and Peggy) were 100% helpful and attentive, truly caring about helping us to make our wedding everything we ever wanted. With the Portola Inn, you really do get an amazing venue AND professional planners. I know many brides that do not get to relax and enjoy their wedding day. My daughter and her groom selected this venue not only because they loved the natural, scenic beauty of the property and the venue’s ability to accommodate a large guest list, but also because of the awesome people-flow for guests and wedding party. Peggy and Tom are gracious hosts/proprietors who are experienced, organized and easy to work with. Our guests especially enjoyed the serenity of the wedding ceremony under the shade of the huge oak tree, fun times roasting s’mores around the fire-pit, laughs in the photo booth on the terrace, snacking on freshly popped popcorn and dancing to the DJ in the carriage house. The large trees and lush greenery throughout the venue provided a stunning backdrop for our photographs and videography. Our event was a fabulous success. -

Tom and Peggy have been a life saver through this engagement process. We fell in love with the venue when we got to stay there about 5 months ago - especially when Tom turned all the lights on once the sun went down. Peggy is so helpful and nice to interact with! i cant imagine getting married anywhere else :) -

My daughter and now son-in-law had their wedding and reception here June 14, 2014. It was truly magical. The venue is breathtaking and Peggy and Tom O'Malley are amazing. They made the entire process so easy for me and my daughter. We had a few visits with them prior to the event, Peggy is a true professional, she coordinated everything the day of the event. The wedding day couldn't have been more enjoyable for our families. Peggy exceeded our expectations. She and Tom along with their friendly and professional staff kept the evening flowing--all we had to do was have a great time, and we did. Staff was strategically placed to ensure everyone was cared for, including overseeing wedding gifts and cards. We received so many compliments from our guests..best wedding ever! I would book this venue again in a heartbeat. -

The place is beautiful! Our wedding was perfect! Tom & Peggy O'Maley are very professional and great to work with. Very organized, reliable, and flexible. Our friends and family still talk about how perfect our day was! On that day, we didn't have to worry about a thing, the O'Malleys had it all under control. -

My husband and I had our wedding at the Portola in back in July and it was absolutely magical! Tom and Peggy were so accomodating and easy to work with! Not only did they have an absolutely beautiful venue, but Peggy acted as our day of wedding coordinator and helped us out several times throughout the entire planning process. When my fiance and I just went to look at the venue for the first time they asked us who we were trying to get for some of our vendors and Tom made the call to the caterer right then and there for us because he had them on speed dial!! Every vendor that they recommended was great! They had ample staff to help the day of the wedding and everyone was ultra professional and easy to work with. In the fee for the venue it also included tables, chairs and linens for up to 200 guests! I loved that myself and all of my bridesmaids and their husbands were able to stay at the venue the night before and the night of the wedding - it made everything so convenient! Plus, given that it was a bed and breakfast Peggy cooked us a delicious breakfast of local pork and apple sausage and amazing apricot french toast with apricots from their own trees! The thing I liked the best is that on the day of the wedding I was able to sit back and relax because I knew that tom and peggy and their staff had everything taken care of which is exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend the Portola Inn to anyone looking for a wedding venue or a place to hold a party. -

I recently had my wedding at this venue and the site is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks especially magical at night with all the lights :) The staff were also very helpful and went above and beyond what we expected to make out event perfect :) They even put special hooks in the trees so that we could hang chandeliers :) I would highly recommend this venue to anyone :) -

I can't imagine a prettier place to get married or better people to work with. A magical night was had by all thanks to the gorgeous venue, Tom's hard work and Peggy's help with the preplanning. They helped run the whole night so I didn't have to think about a thing! I would highly recommend Portola Inn for any event! -

So happy that we chose this venue. Tom and Peggy were very accommodating and did everything to make the weekend run smoothly. They have a ton of decor and centerpiece items which made planning way easier and less expensive. Peggy provided breakfast for my whole wedding party and family that stayed there over the weekend that was fabulous. She even accommodated my food allergies! I didn't have to worry about a thing the day of and was confident that it would all be taken care of. I would say it is a setting for a slightly more casual style wedding but fabulous none the less!-

We were impressed and at ease from the beginning when working with Tom and Peggy at The Portola Inn. The venue is delightfully simple and small town feeling but elegant in a setting which is naturally beautified by oak trees and rolling CA hills. We worked with Peggy to capture our vision for the wedding, which was easy going and professional. You quickly get the sense that Peggy and Tom know what they're doing and they made helpful suggestions to assure the day would go smoother based on what they've come to know works best in their venue. We felt we received a good value for what the package included and the staff the day of was very helpful. The venue offers a variety of settings for the actual ceremony/reception, and many diverse places to take photos on the property: beautiful oak trees, a garden with fruit trees and flowers, vintage cars, tools, etc. -

Dreamiest Wedding Venue
My husband and I couldn’t have been happier with how our wedding at the Portola Inn turned out. When looking at venues, we knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony surrounded by natural beauty. Compared to local vineyards and other nearby outdoor venues, the Portola won by a landslide in price and value. When you walk onto the property, you are immediately met with serene shady oak trees, beautiful gardens, and so much charm, from the vintage carriage house (perfect for an indoor ceremony option or indoor dancing) to storybook corners, Mr Mcgregor’s garden, cozy fire pits, the list goes on. They also have an on-site bridal suite and guest house perfect for getting ready before the wedding or an overnight stay the night before/after.
When we booked the Portola, we didn’t just get a gorgeous venue, but it also came with wedding day coordination and so much support with planning from Tom, Lisa, and Maggie. Leading up to the wedding, I was able to call with any questions and set up multiple planning meetings. They gave vendor recommendations, let us use their decorations, tables and linens, and had extra staff to help with guest parking, set up, and tear down. If you are a DIY bride who doesn’t want a pricey wedding planner but does want a little extra support and coordination, the Portola Inn has that built in!
The only “downside” I can think of is the early cutoff time at 9 pm and the guest limit of 100 or less. If you’re looking to throw a raging party for 200 of your closest friends and family, this may not be the spot for you. I loved the intimate feel of having about 90 guests, and everyone still had so much fun dancing and enjoying themselves till 9.
As a bride who has been dreaming of this day since girlhood, my dream of a classic, romantic, fairytale wedding came true here! So if that’s what you’re looking for, you should definitely choose the Portola for your venue!-

We had our daughter’s baby shower at this venue. It was absolutely perfect.
Peggy was very easy to deal with, which made our experience glitch free.
The property is beautiful which adds to the specialness.
I definitely recommend having any type of function here. -

Our Wedding Day at Portola Inn was a Dream
Portola Inn is a perfect venue for a wedding or event. We only had 8 weeks to plan our wedding, (crazy, I know) but Peggy, Tom, and my parents were able to make our wedding day beautiful and perfect. Portola Inn has magical Oak trees that rustle in the wind and colorful gardens that add to the already beautiful venue. Growing up in Paso Robles, I always pictured having a wedding under Oak trees and with a view of the rolling hills and Portola Inn has just that! Peggy meets with you before the wedding many times to make sure that every detail is exactly how you want it. Peggy also has decorations that you can pick from included in the price of the venue. We decided to have the rehearsal dinner at the venue and that was a great decision. They allow you to bring in your own caterer and allow you to enjoy your family and friends before your wedding day. This was a very special time for us. Peggy is also the wedding coordinator and helps during the rehearsal. Peggy was very detailed and personable. She knew all of the bridal parties' names before the rehearsal was over. As the bride, the wedding day was relaxing, stress-free and fun because of the preplanning and all of the extra staff that Peggy had at the venue. The staff was willing to answer any questions with smiles on their faces. One of the many highlights of my wedding day was looking up and seeing Peggy holding my sister-in-law's newborn baby so she could enjoy her dinner. Words can't express how happy I was throughout our wedding day! Thank you, Peggy and Tom, for your hard work and your beautiful venue that will forever have a special place in my heart.-

October Wedding
We got married at the Portola Inn last October and it was beautiful. We had a smaller wedding with just 50 people and we were provided with excellent service and informed of all the details up until the day of so we knew what to expect. The venue is naturally beautiful and we had no complaints on how the day went. The only thing I had to worry about was getting married. I would highly recommend Tom and Peggy and their wonderful home as the perfect venue. -

We sat under the beautiful oaks and had a magical evening for our rehearsal dinner. The gardens and grounds are lovely and the owners were welcoming, helpful and efficient. Only improvements/warnings: music set up is pretty non-existent unless you want to spend an extra $100. It would be helpful if the venue set up speakers around the property so clients can easily plug in their phones or iPads to stream music outside (instead of needing a DJ). We brought in little speakers, but couldn't really set them up in a way that didn't overwhelm people in one area so others could faintly hear. Otherwise this venue is terrific. I'm still getting compliments and kudos a month later! Highly recommend the Portola Inn. -

I absolutely LOVED having my wedding at Portola Inn!! It was extremely convenient, being able to have the bridal party stay on site of the venue, and being able to have both the ceremony and reception in one, romantic spot eased my mind as the bride- I didn't want to have any confused guests with two locations! Having Peggy as the main day-of coordinator was a sigh of relief due to her professional and charming manner. She knew how to run the show, and made sure that the day ran smoothly.

Tom and Peggy are grat proprietors and the Portola Inn is a wonderful, beautiful and surprising place to get married. Not a lot of people know about it which makes it so special. The only negative is that some of my guests were turned away after showing up for the ceremony late. The place is beautiful though and I did not feel like just another Saturday wedding like I would have at other places that pack in weddings every weekend. -

Beautiful venue
The staff was friendly, and the landscaping was top notch. The carriage is a lovely touch. Our coordinator, Lisa, was absolutely phenomenal. She went above and beyond for us to make our day special and run smoothly. -
