Delicious wedding cake!
Jenny and her team did an amazing job with our wedding cake. During the selection process, my husband and I visited Jenny's bakery in Charlottesville for a tasting and honestly loved every single cake/frosting/filling combination we tried -- you really can't go wrong! We ended choosing a three-tiered chocolate cake (we opted out of the Guinness stout due to some guests' dietary restrictions, but highly recommend that flavor) with dark chocolate ganache middle filling and vanilla buttercream, with an exterior finish in horizontal pull. Paradox also provided us with a complimentary anniversary cake, boxed and ready to conserve. Our cake looked exactly how we requested, tasted wonderful, and was a great value in the world of wedding cakes. Highly recommend! -

Jenny was extremely helpful in designing our geode wedding cake! About a month before our wedding, we had to change cake plans, and Paradox Pastry was a life saver! They were responsive, and were able to bring to life our geode cake vision in time for our August 2021 wedding. Also the cake flavor of Dark Chocolate Cake with Irish Cream Mousseline/Buttercream and Dark Chocolate Ganache was so scrumptious! -

My husband and I have loved exploring the local food scene while living in Charlottesville, so we were excited for Paradox Pastry to be a part of our big day (because it is one of our favorites!) We went into the bakery one day and were able to speak with the head baker and try different pastries that they make miniature for events. Everything we tried was SO yummy! We ended up ordering their Better than DMB brownies bites, chocolate chip cookies, and raspberry chocolate tarts. Paradox Pastry even went above and beyond, and we were able to order chocolate covered strawberries and crème brûlée for our wedding day even though they do not regularly make those desserts. We were very happy with Paradox Pastry and would highly recommend them! -

Best Pies Ever!!!
The one review we’ve heard the most from all of our wedding guests were that they LOVED our mini pies! Jenny and her team went above and beyond to deliver an array of flavorful pies, and a beautiful scrumptious wedding cake as well! I would recommend her company to everyone I know! -

We are so grateful to Jenny and her team at Paradox Pastry for make our wedding day so amazing. Jenny is a delight to work with--she is fun, enthusiastic, and imaginative. She designed an absolutely stunning wedding cake that matched the romantic, classic atmosphere of our wedding. Not to mention, the champagne and raspberry mousseline were a killer combo! She also worked with us to plan an amazing dessert spread of cannolis, macarons, tarts, and cheesecake. Our guests are still raving about how delicious everything was!
We had complete faith in Paradox Pastry to do a fabulous job and they exceeded all of our expectations. We HIGHLY recommend Jenny and her amazing team!

jenny & the paradox pastry team created an incredible cake for our wedding day. from our first tasting with them, we were attracted by their professionalism, experience in the business, and creativity with flavors and aesthetic. jenny even asked to show me a photo of my wedding dress so the cake texture would align with the overall theme of the wedding! we asked the possibility of having a unique flavor combination that (red velvet with coconut cream cheese icing) to honor my husband's family, and they happily obliged! my husband still talks to this day, 18 months later, about how delicious the cake was. bravo, jenny! -

Jenny and Paradox Pastry are AMAZING! Our cake was amazing!! My family has celiacs disease, and none of us got sick after eating our cake! We cannot wait to eat the anniversary cake or just stop by the bakery when we are in Charlottesville! -

My now-husband had very few opinions about our wedding until he tasted the Guinness chocolate stout cake at our tasting. Jenny was so fun to work with - she easily transitioned every time we changed our mind on style of cake. Everyone commented on how great the cake and the rest of the desserts were. The hot toddy cookie was honestly one of the best cookies I had ever tried. We are so excited to have our anniversary cake next year!! -

Everyone raved over all of our desserts. The cake was beautiful and everything was delicious. Jenny was amazing throughout the whole process, such a gem. Super approachable and accommodating to our wants and needs. People could not stop talking about the cheesecake! I personally LOVED the pecan pie tartlets. Highly recommend ! -

Most Delicious and Beautiful Cake!
Jenny from Paradox Pastry made the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake for our wedding! The tasting was amazing and Jenny was so friendly and genuinely cared and wanted to make us the best cake, we knew instantly we wanted to work with her! I showed her pictures of how I wanted the cake to look and she brought that vision to life! She was super easy to get in touch with and was able to answer all my questions! We got so many compliments from our guests that the cake was so good that they had seconds! I 100% recommend Paradox Pastry!! -

Jenny was amazing to work with! Jenny was absolutely incredible to work with! From our first consultation, we knew this was the place for us. Desserts are hugely important to me as a person, and Jenny’s attention to detail and passion for pastries inspired all of the confidence in the world. She even took my dress design and buttercream stenciled it onto the cake for one cohesive look. Everything was delicious and Paradox was so easy to work with. Absolutely recommend!!! -

Kelly Sent on 09/04/2018YUM! Best word to discribe Jenny’s confectionary creations! First, Jenny is fabulous! She is full of energy and nice! We loved her the moment we met her. For our tasting appointment, we tried lots of delicious hand pies, cookies, tarts, cakes and the BTDM brownie. We knew we wanted a red velvet cake for our wedding cake, but also ended up doing a dessert table because everything was so delicious! Our wedding cake was dense but super moist, with an amazing cream cheese frosting. She also made us a killer gluten free German chocolate cupcake which made all our GF guests super happy. She was also able to accommodate the vegans too. Our guests loved having wonderful sweets to snack on as they danced the night away! Jenny gifted a top tier of our cake for us to freeze for our 1 year anniversary! I think of that cake in our freezer often. Makes me excited for our anniversary! When we visit Charlottesville, we always pop in for a delicious sweet. I highly recommend Jenny and the team at Paradox Pastry! You and your guests won’t be disappointed!

Our family loved every cake we tasted, but we ended up choosing the Chocolate Guinness Stout Cake that was absolutely delicious. Jenny checked in before our wedding to solidify all of the final details. She created the cake exactly how I envisioned it! She was professional, timely, and so talented! We can’t wait to have the rest of our cake on our one year anniversary :)

Jenny is actually a family friend and so it wasn't difficult for me to decide on what vendor we would be using for our wedding cake as she is wonderful and so are all of Paradox Pastry's creations! We had previously had the Chocolate Guinness Cake and knew it was one of our favorites so had to had it as a sheet cake for our guests; however we wanted to do something a little lighter and more traditional for our cutting cake, plus I didn't want to worry about chocolate in between my teeth for photos :) We decided to go with the Italian Creme which is AMAZING! I can honestly say this because even all my uncles who know Jenny and have had the Chocolate Guinness before now say the Italian Creme is their favorite! Our wedding theme was classic with subtle art deco glam and the wedding cake design was perfect! Jenny actually utilized photos of my dress and our invitation suite to come up with the designs and it was the perfect compliment to our theme right next to the champagne tower at our cake table. Do yourself a favor and get on Jenny's list for a consultation about your special day, you will not be disappointed! Well, unless like me you literally only got to eat your one bit from the cake cutting and are now craving more and waiting to consume your anniversary tier :) -

They went above and beyond to work within our budget while creating a dessert table that looked beautiful and cohesive, with a gorgeous cake adorned with berries in the center of various flavors of fruit (and other) pies. But they weren’t just for show – every thing was delicious, and our wedding guests loved it!

Everything was so delicious that friends were trying to take to go bags on their way out of the wedding. Not only that everything is reasonably priced and working with Jenny and her staff is like working with a good friend. They're reliable, professional, and provide the best tasting desserts in Charlottesville. Look no further and schedule a tasting with Jenny immediately. You will not be disappointed.

The chocolate walnut pie is worth living for. Not only that, but her prices are extremely reasonable and she is an absolute dream to work with. -

Our initial experiences in the area did not go well, and we decided to branch out to the Charlottesville area. After reading online reviews (that were phenomenal), we decided to schedule a tasting at Paradox Pastry. When we entered their "cafe", we were blown away. The atmosphere was so fun! Everyone working there was so helpful. We were there 5 minutes and knew that was it. The cake was moist and flavorful. They also provided such creative options that I would have never thought of for a wedding cake. They took our suggestions and ideas and crafted the most beautiful cake I could have ever imagined. Jenny is truly and artist and was an amazing person to work with. So many people left our wedding sharing that our cake was the most delicious wedding cake that they had ever tasted. Oh!!! And... your cake includes a recreation of the top tier for your 1 year anniversary so you don't have to store cake for a year, and actually get to taste it fresh a year later! -

Jenny was great to work with and she was very accommodating as our needs for the big day changed. The tarts we ordered (pumpkin, pecan, chocolate, apple-walnut, and more!) were delicious and our guests loved them. I would definitely recommend Paradox Pastry - they perfectly combine quality of service with quality baked goods! -

From the very beginning, Jenny was easy and fun to work with and was great really focusing my ideas into a few designs to choose from. We loved our tasting, we had great big pieces of cake and lots to take home, plus the store is adorable! Jenny was really accommodating with letting us pick our flavors and incorporating our favorite candy, reeces cups! Everyone raved about the cake and we were so happy we had some yummy pieces of cake waiting for us in the room after the wedding! We've had their pastries and lunch there too, food was great will definitely be going back for lunch and sweets! -

Elsia Sent on 06/29/2017Jenny is a very very talented baker and a creative decorator. I am SO glad we had her yellow cake with raspberry and grand mariner mousseline for our wedding. It was delicious and perfect for summer! The thing that truly stands out about her work is that she is very creative and came up with a 4 tier cake design based on my dress that was stunning. I was a nervous bride so it was hard to let go (some slight delay in email responses contributed) but I am so glad that I trusted Jenny because my cake turned out better than I could have dreamed. Thank you for a beautiful and most important tasty cake! -

Great people and sweets!
My husband and I used Paradox Pastry for our wedding cake and favors. They not only made over 200 delicious macarons, but also boxed them for us. We received many compliments about how amazing they tasted! Jenny was extremely easy and flexible to work with. She made us feel at ease with the craziness of wedding planning. We would highly recommend her. -

Jenny was really laid back and flexible. She met all of my special requests about the cake and besides tasting fantastic it was absolutely beautiful! We did cheesecakes for our wedding. They transported the 4 tiered cheesecake already put together so it collapsed on itself on the way to the venue. The guy who brought the cheesecake was extremely nice and tried his best to fix it. My mom had given Jenny a picture of how she wanted the cheesecake decorated and she had said she could do it but it turned out she passed off the decorating to someone else and didn’t even show them the picture. She clearly didn’t care about getting us what we had asked for. We weren’t impressed with their professionalism and how they handled the issue with the tiered cake collapsing. They gave us some money back but not the full cost of the tiered cheesecake. Overall, wouldn’t recommend using them for a wedding but would recommend stopping by their bakery because their food does taste good!
