What can I say about Over the Top Cakes? They are the best cake decorators in the Edmonton area in my opinion. I knew that I wanted to work with Deb Lasiuk to make my wedding cake for five years leading up to my wedding (and no, I wasn't engaged for five years, I'm just obsessed with cakes!). Luckily for me Deb was still making cakes and was able to make my wedding cake.
First of all, my gramma has been shownig strangers pictures of our cake, and the comments that she gets are usually like this.. "I've never seen a cake like that before! Where is it from?" or "That is the most amazing cake that I've ever seen".
My fiance and I had a general idea of what we wanted for a cake, I knew that I wanted a big cake and my fiance knew he wanted a chocolate cake with yummy icing. From there we did a taste test with Deb, chose our flavors, and talked about design. After a couple of sketches we came up with a unique design that incorporated wooden flowers, gum paste leaves, and a vine that was made from piping. To top it all off we had a small piece of birch tree and a pair of porcelain birds as our cake topper.
At the wedding we had a lot of people comment on the cake and how amazing it was. Once the cake was served we had another round of comments from our guests saying how it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. We chose a buttercream icing instead of fondant because taste was really important to us, and it paid off. We had enough cake for well over the number of guests we had (I said I wanted a big cake, haha), but we didn't have that much left over.
If you want a unique cake with lots of personality and that tastes amazing go with Over the Top Cakes, you will not be disappointed!

User1760807 Sent on 08/12/2014We had a small wedding cake but it was made so special because it looked and tasted wonderful! Everyone loved it! Great to work with, and would recommend them for a wedding or even any party!!!
