ODB is the best!

My wife and I have always loved ODB. We love them so much we decided to use them as our vendor for our wedding cake and of course, they did not disappoint. Our cake was so good we are still having guests asking us about it! If you're looking for a great bakery in the Blacksburg area, look no further than ODB. They are so great. Jen was super helpful in helping us figoure out what we wanted, coordinating everything, and having the cake delivered seamlessly. Drop by and grab breakfast, lunch, or a pastry too! Our Daily Bread Wedding Cake Blacksburg, VA

Our Daily Bread made a BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS cake for our summer wedding. We worked with Jen throughout the process. Her expertise and creativity cannot be understated! At out initial tasting we tried four or five separate small cakes each with different tasting combinations. Jen walked us through what was possible with each, what pairs well together, and every detail we didn't know to think about. Plus, she had a binder full of examples and design ideas for inspiration!
After selecting our tastes and design Jen and Our Daily Bread were great communicators during planning. They walked us through the delivery and pick up options, the day of, and what they do to make our day special.
Our Daily Bread set themselves beyond the pack in designing our cake. To select our colors we sent a few pictures of the flowers at our venue and asked the bakers and designers to let their creativity flow. The final product was absolutely beautiful! The buttercream flowers showed zero signs of wilting despite the 80 degree, sunny day. The colors were perfect together and with the gardens at our venue! Lastly, but most importantly for me, the cake was absolutely delicious! There was no filler. No fake flavors. Except for the plate it came on and one wooden support dowel, there were no lame "oh, you can't eat that, its for decoration" pieces to the cake at all! Each of the three tiers was different (per our tastes) and every bite was sublime!
I haven't even gone into the logistics of the wedding! Picking up the cake the day of was a breeze. Carrying it through the parking lot didn't even make me nervous. The whole experience went off without a hitch!
I cannot say enough about how great everything about this experience was. Seriously, if you're getting married (or if you just want some cake for the heck of it) go to Our Daily Bread. The cake was everything we could have asked for and Jen and everyone at Our Daily Bread was a dream to work with for our wedding day!

Non-Traditional Cake

After getting denied by several bakeries, we stumbled upon ODB Bakery. And we are glad we did! Jen welcomed us with open arms! We wanted a non-white cake with lots of flavors that hinted toward the landscape of the mountains. We did a tasting with, I think, 5 miniature cakes, and ended up with a three tier, multi-flavored cake. Our guests absolutely loved it and went back for several pieces! We asked for a nod to the mountain landscape, and with a few back and forth emails, it came out wonderful. She also baked cookies for us to include in our welcome bag. Again, everyone raved about the cookies and cake!

Beautiful and Delicious Wedding cake!

Our Daily Bread created a delicious and intricately designed cake for our wedding. Jen was fantastic to work with - she had wonderful suggestions, answered all of our questions, and we had a very pleasant cake tasting experience with her. The prices are very reasonable and there are many flavors to choose from. The wedding cake was moist, flavorful, and decorated exactly as we requested it. We would absolutely recommend their services.

Delicious cake!!

I wanted a very simple, elegant cake that tasted GREAT, and ODB delivered! Our cake was everything that I wanted, and it tasted phenomenal. It was fresh and moist, and the french buttercream icing was perfect -- not too sweet! Yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, a classic combination, has always been my favorite and ODB delivered a great one on my Wedding day. The cake arrived on-time, albeit in sad condition from the bumpy ride to the venue, but that was no problem, as the delivery person knew exactly how to fix the decoration so that the cake looked perfect by the time for the reception!

Our Daily Bread provided a wonderful experience for our wedding cake. The flavors and fillings were rich and delicious, and the cake design was just what we were looking for. The entire staff was very helpful and responsive via email, and the price of their wedding cakes was unmatched. We are excited to take advantage of the complimentary 4" anniversary cake on our first anniversary - what a great concept! We didn't have to worry about saving any cake!

The wedding cake was, for whatever reason, the last item on our list for the wedding. We contacted Our Daily Bread very shortly before the wedding and they were able to accommodate our needs. We wanted a very simple and small cake, and we were able to easily choose the size, type, and flavors at a reasonable cost. The cake was delicious -- it exceeded my expectations and looked great in pictures.

My (now) wife and I had a wonderful experience with Our Daily Bread Bakery. We ordered a slightly odd Dr. Who themed wedding cake and when it arrived, it looked amazing! They were incredibly friendly and flexible enough to deal with our last-minute changes without batting an eye. Also, the cake was delicious! I've never seen a wedding cake devoured so quickly. I cannot recommend them enough!

I had a very pleasant experience with "Our Daily Bread"... I wanted a simple wedding cake for my very small elopement wedding. The people that I worked with were simply amazing, and the quality of the cake was just amazing. It was affordable, ready on time, and exactly what I wanted. Laura and Aurore were both excellent to work with. They were very helpful in their suggestions and accommodating to our special requests. The end result was almost too beautiful to eat.... but we did anyway and it was delicious. Our guests were raving about how good the wedding cake was. I would highly recommend them.

We ordered 3 cakes for our wedding - 2 sheet cakes and a small 8" round to be decorated. We had 2 different flavors because the cakes were so delicious we couldn't decide on just one flavor. ODBB was very helpful in recommending cake sizing and decorations. They were very responsive to emails and questions, and the cakes were amazing. We had so many guests commenting on how delicious the cakes were, even weeks after the wedding!

ODBB also provided the catering for our reception. Again, the food was great, and the staff were incredibly helpful. The guests were pleased, and so were we. We even had some remarks that this was the best reception food our guests had tasted at a wedding. I would highly recommend!

Very professional. Clare was so great to work with and made things so much easier. Great food. Couldn't ask for more. There food and cake were amazing. Their macarroons and craque en bouche were my favorite!

One word...delicious!

If you're ever in Blacksburg, check out the amazing bakery items at Our Daily Bread. Their stuff is made fresh daily and tastes just as great as it looks.

The couple that own this bakery are from France and have brought their petit fours and other creations to southwest Virginia.

On the weekends, there is always so much going on. If you visit ODB for lunch, expect to hear live music and be surrounded by friendly people.

Jeannine worked with us to help make sure that my cake was perfect. She was in contact with us the whole time...and really put her heart into making sure that we were happy. And we definitely were...the cake was AMAZING and we got a lot of compliments on it...it was both delicious and beautiful.

The cake designer knew exactly how to put what I wanted into a cake. She was amazingly attentive to my likes and dislikes, and she was very quick and to the point. Our cake was delightful, we had 3 layers with different flavors, beautiful flower petal icing, and it was beautifully decorated with flowers. It was a perfect experience, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

They were great! Our cake was exactely what we'd designed with the help of an employee. She even had us bring in a paint/color sample to match the icing color to what we had in mind. The cake was amazing (we had a square, white layer cake with a raspberry swirl, cream cheese filling, and buttercream frosting) they gave us samples to make sure it was what we wanted, and everyone loved it. It was different while still being appropriate. The bakery even delivered our cake and set it up at the reception hall. Couldn't have asked for anything better!

My cake was perfect!!! This was one aspect of the wedding planning that was honestly a breeze. We went in once to taste the cakes (yum!) and talked with the owner for a little while. We told her that we wanted to design our own cake and make it a little different. She gave great guidance and was so easy to work with. We mailed her paint samples because we live 4 hours away and when the cake was delivered, it was EXACTLY how we designed and tasted AMAZING.

I could not imagine getting a cake from any where else but Our Daily Bread. The service was perfect, the look was stunning and the taste was devine.

Our Wedding Cake was beautiful and exactly what we asked for. The staff at ODB is amazing and they went out of their way to make sure we had the perfect cake. All of our quests commented on how good the cake was and that it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. I would HIGHLY recommend this bakery. The delivery and set up was exceptional. ODBB did our wedding and grooms cake. They were very professional and helpful. Our cake tasting went smoothly and our cakes the day of were delicious. They have also done birthday party and retirement party cakes for my family. I would highly suggest using ODBB to any one wanting a great tasting cake, without any worry from the vendor.

The staff was helpful and patient during our debate of cake flavors and design. We combined two cake designs to create our dream wedding cake and it looked fantastic, but tasted even better! Our Daily Bread also made our favors: cake-shaped sugar cookies with a personalized icing design. We just celebrated our 1 year with our complimentary anniversary cake from them. ODB is easy to work with, professional and they create some beautiful and delicious sweets!

Our Daily Bread created our wedding cake. They were very helpful in design and flavors. They created a 3 tier cake with each tier being a different flavor, which was amazing. The list of flavors to choose from was extensive. Also, they work with local florists to decorate with flowers, monograms, or anything else you want.

Beautiful Wedding Cake! I think I have the most beautiful wedding cake in the history of weddings. No joke! (can you tell I was superbly happy with my cake?) On top of it all, the cake tasted great. Everyone loved it. Everyone who's seen the cake or the photo of the cake is impressed by it. If you are having a wedding in the Blacksburg area do not go anywhere else for your cake. And definitely work with Karen to help her visualize exactly what you want and what is your style. Don't leave anything to chance, if you don't express effectively what you are looking for, no one can read your mind. I did a lot of research online, looked at a million photos of wedding cakes and emailed Karen photos of my favorite cakes and their piping patterns. If I could've dreamed the perfect cake, my wedding cake would be it. I only wished that my photographer took more photos of the wedding cake. P.S. We had a 4 layer cake, cake size 12" 10" 8" 6", with top layer being the anniversary cake. Our florist, Best Wishes, provided pink roses to go in between the layers. Karen at Our Daily Bread did an amazing job, and we love her for putting the icing on our perfect day =)

The cake was amazing and beautiful! However the whole back of all 4 layers fell off before the ceremony even started :( I think maybe the temperature difference caused this... they were very apalogetic however.

The people at Our Daily Bread were wonderful- we had lots of questions and they had plenty of answers! They were very accommodating of all our requests (we wanted color on our cakes- they had us bring in swatches to match, we didn't originally have a cake topper- we changed our minds and they took care of it!) They made sure to get us what we wanted for a great price and the cake was absolutely beautiful! (and it didn't lean like the cakes a lot of our friends have had from other vendors) If you're looking in the area I highly recommend. We had a wedding with 130 guests and we have our anniversary cake as well- cost was around 350.

Our wedding cake was great, and we were so happy with the final design. We sent them a picture of an idea of what we wanted, and they totally made it better! The cake tasted great, of course, but we knew that!

After I paid for the cake all communication broke down. There was confusion about the flowers that went on the cake and I asked about the delivery time repeatedly but that was ignored. Then my cake came while the reception was taking place. The delivery man was rude to my sisters and my mother. He made them sign a paper and took pictures then told them if we would have given better directions he would have been there. There is no excuse to be an hour and a half late. Also we never gave directions, all they asked me for was the church address. The cake was good but there was a very thin layer of filling. At the cake tasting the filling layer was much thicker.

Will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. Completely screwed up delivering the wedding cake on Saturday (30 minutes late), was lied to by their staff when we called, and then after 3 days of promises, the owners were surprised when we walked in. They refused a refund.

If you want any of the following: your wedding cake to arrive late; to be lied to by the staff, for the owner/manager to deny you a refund or any compensation for their incompetence; to experience a level of customer service so bad it resembles attitudes to service found in the Soviet bloc, then go ahead and have this bunch of jokers make your wedding cake. If you want to experience the opposite, that is a business that cares about the customer, go elsewhere.

I am so disappointed with this establishment. I choose them to provide the cake for my daughter's fairy-tale wedding at the Rockwood in Dublin. The ceremony was at 5:30, so when the cake wasn't there at 3:30 for the florist to put the flowers on I began calling. During the first call I was told the cake was on the way and would be there shortly. I called back at 4:00 and was again told the cake was on the way. At 4:30 I was really beginning to get worried and was told the cake was on the way but they would call the driver. By 5:00 I was frantic and was told that they could not contact the driver but they would contact the onwer and she would be calling me. I called back as we were walking out to the ceremony at 5:25 and spoke to "John" the manager who told me if the cake was not delivered by the end of the ceremony the driver would be fired. I called back after the ceremony when we still had no cake and John was no longer there. The manager I spoke to then said, "I'm sorry. I did not know that the cake that was sitting right here was the one you were waiting on. It will be there in the next 15 to 20 minutes." He also said he would contact the owner so we could receive compensation. The cake arrived 15 minutes into the reception. I went to the bakery Monday morning and was told the owner would be contacted and she would call me tomorrow. I waited all day Tuesday and received no call. Now it is Wednesday and I went in to speak to the owner who told me she would give us a refund but then went to the back and returned with her husband who screamed at me and mocked my daughter's wedding saying who cares if she didn't have a cake. I did not receive a refund and was treated in a completely disrespectful manner. I will never use this bakery again and I would warn anyone who needs a dependable baker away.

We paid almost $600 for our wedding cake and met with the owner of Our Daily Bread several times to agree on the design and cake flavors. Our Daily Bread has an impressive web site and photo album of cakes that they have made in the past but we were fooled and we did not get what we asked for. Our cake arrived at out reception late and was leaning to one side. The fondant was supposed to be an off white but instead it was off white with yellow streaks down it. Did I mention that they couldn't even make the cakes that we requested? None of the cakes were special they were all an option on their list. The caterer we used is probably the best in the NRV and they were shocked at how poor the quality of the cake was. I went to speak to the owner of Our Daily Bread and she told me that the first cake that the made fell apart that is why it was late. I told her that the cake was leaning over and the cake flavors were wrong and the fondant had yellow streaks down it. The cake had to be disassembled because our caterer thought that it was going to fall over. She assured me that it was not leaning over when it left their shop. She apologized for have the wrong flavor cakes in it and the poor quality and it being late and told me that she would be willing to give me $100 back. So we paid $500 for something that we did not request or agree upon when we placed our order with Our Daily Bread. I will never buy another cake from them and will let everyone know about my experience.
