We booked Old San Luis BBQ for our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Party, and they were one of the very first vendors we secured—and for good reason! Kevin was absolutely AMAZING—so easy to communicate with, super responsive, and a true wealth of knowledge. From start to finish, everything felt effortless with him.
We also rented the Old San Luis BBQ Tap Truck, and it was a total HIT—I'm still obsessed with it! Guests are still talking about how incredible the food was. Honestly, Old San Luis BBQ was one of our favorite vendors from the entire wedding weekend.
The service was top tier, the experience was seamless, and I would book them again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend to anyone planning a wedding or event! -

Kevin and his team were incredible for our wedding day! They were flexible, professional, and helpful with all of our needs for the day. We also rented their tap truck for our bar setup and it was a hit! It looked so good outside at the cocktail hour. Plus the food was incredible!!! So happy we picked Old Slo BBQ to cater our wedding. -

Local Favorite BBQ Did Amazing!
Working with the catering manager, Kevin, was such a great experience. He was really responsive to emails, always made time for phone calls, and worked with us to schedule a tasting for while we were in town for planning. He was able to give us advice to fit our budget and quality priorities and we had total faith that his team would execute day-of. They made sure that we got appetizers during our pictures and packed up our leftovers perfectly. We got so many compliments on the food and we were so happy to have one of our favorite local restaurants do such an amazing job on our big day.

We used Old SLO BBQ for our wedding this past August and we're so happy with the quality and taste of the food! Kevin was a rockstar to work with and was so accommodating when we had to reschedule our tasting a few times since we don't live in the area. We have been going to Old SLO BBQ since we were in college and couldn't pass up having them cater our wedding. The food was delicious and Kevin was able to adjust our order and what we needed so easily. We got so many compliments about the food at our wedding and were stoked to be able to take all of the leftovers home at the end of the night. We would highly recommend Old SLO BBQ and can't wait to stop by on our next trip down to get a tri-tip sandwich! -

Loved the variety of meat, salad, and carb options for our wedding! Everyone really loved the food and great for all types of dietary needs. The tri tip, pulled pork, and cowboy corn pie were definitely the highlights of dinner. -

You will not get a better value for your catering than with Old SLO BBQ!
I spent hours upon hours searching for a caterer for my wedding of 90 people. Every quote I got back was unreasonably expensive. But I couldn't believe it when I got the quote back from Old SLO BBQ, I asked them if they had made a mistake on the quote. They were hired! Plus, who doesn't love Santa Maria style Tri Tip!?
If you have never tried Old SLO BBQ before and want to try their food, no problem! They will give you a free tasting if you book with them!
Old SLO BBQ will also do bartending for your event. Just be sure you tip the bartenders the day of the event! They are contract workers so when you pay the final bill to Old SLO BBQ it's difficult to separate out the tip.
They PERFECTLY allocated the food for our event. We had no leftovers, but that was OKAY! Everyone ate, had seconds and was full. And I had no need for leftovers that were likely going to go to waste.
The other reason why I loved them, they had so many vegetarian options! Our vegetarian friends were also full at the end of dinner. They even made the beans veggie (usually has pork in it).
The servers, bartenders and managers were all very delightful to work with.
They did a great job cleaning up as well. Scraped all the rental plates, cleaned wine glasses.
Hire them! You won't be disappointed. -

We hired Old SLO BBQ for our wedding and were so happy with how easy they were to work with, as well as how great the food turned out! We coordinated with them for over a year leading up to our big day, and they were very responsive and amenable to making changes to fit our needs and our venue's requirements. The food turned out fantastic- everything was delicious and we got so many compliments from our guests! Our only regret was not having enough food left over to take any home for a second helping! The catering staff was awesome, very respectful and worked hard throughout the night. We loved being able to treat our guests to a taste of true Central Coast barbecue, and the price was great too! We're so glad we chose Old SLO BBQ for our big day and would absolutely recommend them for any venue or event! -

I cannot thank Old Slo BBQ enough for catering our wedding. From the first appointment we knew this was the company for us. After having a tasting with David, we cancelled our next appointment and hired them on the spot. David was incredibly helpful, insightful and always in communication with me. I never once doubted this company. We got raving reviews from our wedding guests and boy was the food delicious! I 100% recommend them for your catering needs or even just to have a bite to eat while visiting SLO. -

Dave from Old Slo BBQ was great to work with, and on the day of, his team delivered. We heard nothing but compliments from guests on the quality of the food. He setup a wonderful tasting for us to help us fine-tune our menu and was responsive to all inquiries. We hired Old Slo for bartending, buffet and passed appetizers. Great job! -

Old Slo BBQ did a great job careering my son's wedding. They kept the food hot and ready. I love the different options they offer. The corn poke was a big hit along with the tri tip of course. The staff was friendly and worked hard throughout the night. I think they were a terrific value! I highly recommend them -

When planning our wedding, one of the most important things to us was the food we served to our guests. As locals, it was important to us to find a local, professional, reliable and delicious catering company and Old San Luis BBQ was above and beyond what we had been hoping for. We come from a background of serious bbq’ers and were looking for a company with a solid bbq menu but also a fresh and unique twist for our wedding with a rustic ranch glamour “theme”. Right away, Matt (the owner) was incredibly responsive and professional, getting back to me within a day. He was flexible and understanding, and went above and beyond for us starting with the tasting. After serving us, he sat and chatted with us answering all of our questions and getting a feel of what we were wanting. When my husband mentioned his love for egg rolls, Matt disappeared into the back and whipped up a batch of their Southwest egg rolls. Needless to say, we were completely impressed and knew right away that this was the caterer for us!
Throughout it all, Matt was incredibly helpful and remained easy to get in contact with, always accommodating in every possible way. They made it easy to put our trust in them and the day-of was flawless! The entire staff was courteous, hardworking, and wonderful! Many of our guests have complimented how friendly the staff was, as well as responsive and accommodating. Besides the perfect presentation and the exceptional staffing, the food was OUTSTANDING! Again, I have had SO many guests rave to us about how great the food was, and I completely agree!
Bottom line, hands down Old San Luis BBQ is the best in the business and we would recommend them to everyone!! Delicious food, flawless presentation, exceptional staffing, and professional & caring owners – they have it all!

Cassandra Sent on 10/20/2013BEST CATERER EVER!!! Came across Old San Luis BBQ on Yelp and saw the fab reviews, I was looking for a local restaurant to cater our wedding in the Santa Maria area. I came into contact with Matt the owner via e-mail. Being an out of town bride he was more than accommodating! He always kept in contact with us and was more than helpful!
We came to the area several times to plan for the wedding and Matt and his staff were always kind and helpful people! Every trip we came down and we looked forward to the delicious one of a kind food! The cowboy pie and the house made strawberry lemonade was some of our favorites although everything was beyond delectable! He had no problem with us wanting to do different tastings to get our menu just right!
He went above and beyond what we had ever expected! He even went out of his way to make sure we could stay on budget and make sure the food was still an amazing part of our wedding day! He even helped us with questions outside of food and helped me find other vendors! All of my family loves BBQ and sometimes can be hard to please! But EVERYONE was raving about the food! Not to mention the service! A few people had mentioned how thoughtful everyone was! I have a cousin who was in the wedding who did not like cheese and both appetizers we had chosen had cheese. Of course Old San Luis being the amazing people they are went back and made him some without cheese!!! Who does that!? It was really nice to know that my family and friends were truly being taken care of day and I can thank Matt and his staff for doing that.
If you need a caterer you should stop looking because this is as good as it gets. Authentic BBQ with amazing people who truly care about what they cook and amazing service. -

We’ve had the chance to enjoy Old SLO BBQ many times while we lived in town. Knowing the food is consistently delicious, we were confident with booking Old SLO for our wedding; and did they deliver! For appetizers we ordered the jalapeno cheddar tots, linguiça, and southwest egg rolls; for our buffet we had tri tip, pulled pork, chicken, strawberry field salad, fire roasted vegetables, pinquito beans, corn pie, and sourdough bread. Everything was wonderful and we have only good things to say about the quality of food. Many of our guests even commented that this was the best wedding food they have ever had. Unfortunately, we found out from our guests later on that we did run out of a few things. We’re not too sure if some of guests in the beginning got seconds before others got their first plate, but it is a bummer we ran out considering we did order extra and we did have a handful of guests who did not attend. Overall, we are very pleased with Old SLO BBQ. A huge thank you to Kevin, the cooks, and the service team! We’re looking forward to the next time we’re in Slo to enjoy a tri tip sandwich. -
