Very happy with our wedding room block

We booked our room block at Ocean's Edge and it was (no pun intended) a breeze! The staff were very easy to work with and professional. Our guests especially loved the free use of the shuttle that drops off and picks up guests in the heart of downtown Key West. The rooms are lovely and very clean, and the price is the best you're going to get in the area. I recommend booking early to get the best price for you and your guests.

    They are outstanding!

Liana and her team did an amazing job helping plan our wedding reception and room block of almost 20 rooms. Everyone from Umberto during check in and helping with our random needs to Stephanie K. and Will assisting us at the front desk. They worked with us and kept us informed every step of the way. They helped with planning items and issues that weren’t there job to ensure that our guests were well cared for. They truly went above and beyond to ensure everything from checkin to checkout went flawless! Don’t let Oceans Edge being on Stock Island scare you away - the shuttle is great. It was nice to have a resort feel a little away from the “party” on duval where our families and guests felt welcome. Having the 6 pools made it so we could all congregate together at one pool and have our own private space. Nothing but a great experience for us and our 48 guests!

Key west sunset and Oceans edge hospitality

We had our wedding ceremony here with 54 of our closests friends and family.

Katie was the chef and everyone said they were the best mashed potatoes they have ever had. We did a plated dinner with filet and everything was spot on. Open bar was perfect too and bartender was generous with the pour.

The planning process was a little hectic with us being out of town but Jess took great care of us and our needs and handled everything top notch to include the night of the event.

Liana was more than accommodating with our reservations and requests made by ourselves and our guests.

Overall they nailed it and knocked our dream ceremony out of the park. No matter the hiccup they all found ways around the issues and it went without a hitch! Totally recommend!

More of a headache than what it's worth

When I booked this venue, I didn't realize that it was on Stock Island (about 20 mins outside of downtown Key West). They have a free shuttle to take you downtown, which is nice..I just didn't expect to be so far removed from actual Key West.. That was my own mistake...

So anyway, let me just start by saying that the actual venue itself is visually appealing. Food was really good. It's DOG-FRIENDLY!! Staff members were great throughout our entire stay. The problem seemed to be somewhere within the front desk, management & event planning team. Thankfully, I hired a wedding planner to help me navigate this process since I'd never been to Key West before. She was great, but the problems that came up originated with Oceans Edge itself and were out of her control.

-For starters, when my mom arrived, it was raining. They let her use an umbrella to take her stuff to the room and asked her to return it in the morning, which she planned to do. The front desk called her at 11pm....while it was still raining and asked her to bring the umbrella back right then...why even give the umbrella to use in the first place then?!?

-We received a card and bottle in our room when we arrived and a card and chocolate covered strawberries in our room after the wedding - both nice gestures that I appreciated.

-I think their packages are priced fairly and are of good value, but the entire planning process was one headache after another. Perhaps if you don't do the all-inclusive package and hire your own venues, you won't experience some of the issues that we did. Miscommunication would be the way to sum up all of the back and forth that took place between myself and the event planning team and also among themselves as well. This was a 10-15 person wedding -- truly should not have been this much stress involved.

-I had a payment plan set up and had to remind them to take the money. I thought maybe after a few reminders, they had it under control. I should've checked. They didn't -- we still owed thousands of dollars. On the day of my wedding, my mother-in-law tried to pay the remainder of the invoice. Had they followed the payment plan that THEY established, there would not have been a balance the day of. With the assistant manager present, she called her cc company to let them know the charge would be coming through...they said ok, no problem. Turns out, the hotel charged her TWICE and the second payment was declined (thankfully), but then Ocean's Edge said neither payments went through and that if we didn't pay by noon, the wedding would be off. She had to screenshot photos of her bank account to show that the charge went through and have them fax over information showing the transaction was authorized. And even after that, they still didn't believe the charge was processed---It was. Not something that should have to be handled the day of -- 5 hours before the ceremony was supposed to start.

-All of the vendors that were hired through their all-inclusive (elopement-type package) were very nice and good at their jobs..no complaints with any of them. Again, probably would've been better off hiring my own vendors and taking care of everything myself, but it was such a small wedding I didn't think it would be a big deal.

-We got married the evening of superbowl sunday ... It's a hotel in KEY WEST ... we were kicked out of the lounge area at 10pm -- as to not disturb other guests which I can understand, but this was not a raging reception. Literally it was our parents and grandparents... & It was a sit down dinner. We were talking to each other at a normal volume level.

-Photos, photos, photos--- probably at the top of many brides' priority lists on their big day. The photographer they hired was great. I know prof photos take some time to edit so I waited and waited... and waited some more. After a couple of weeks, I reached out and asked the photographer about them and was told they were hoping to finish them soon...so I waited some more and the anticipation was actually starting to give me bad anxiety. I thought something bad happened to them. My wedding planner reached out and come to find out -- My photos were ready TWO DAYS AFTER THE WEDDING! The photographer was holding on to them because they hadn't received payment from Ocean's Edge (which Ocean's Edge was so insistent on making sure they got from us the day of). I waited an entire month to get the photos.. a whole month. I debated on if I should write a review or not and I was going to let all of this go, but that was just the icing on the cake for me.

---- At the end of the day, we are married and have nice photos to show for it, but if you're looking to get married in Key West, this would be the last place I would recommend. I just wish I had better memories of my wedding day ----
