Best wedding cake ever!
Go with Occasional Cakes and you will not be disappointed. The cake was exactly what I wanted and super fresh abs moist. My guest were raving about the cake and there was none left to take home. -

Mrs. Harrison, who is the owner did a wonderful job on our wedding cake. She's not a huge operation, but she's very personable and she takes great care of her clients. Her cakes are absolutely delicious and moist. I can't even tell you how many people asked me who baked our cake for our wedding. She's very professional and precise and is willing to work with you on different designs that are cost effective. I would definitely use her services again! -

I first heard of this establishment when I went to a bridal showcase at the Newton White Mansion in January. I tasted the butter rum cake with buttercream icing. I also tasted the butternut cake. I failed to taste the no pink strawberry cake, but I tasted it at a later date. It was very moist, just not a flavor I'm in love with.
I decided to order a cake for my daughter's birthday party in March. I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake with a bowling theme. To say that I was satisfied was an understatement. The cake was absolutely DELICIOUS. Everyone at my daughter's party loved it and it was only a small bit left. The bowling decoration was beautiful as well.
I also used this bakery for my rehearsal dinner (10/22) and my vow renewal (10/29) and they both were amazingly delicious. The decorations of the cake, which I just trusted them with, surpassed my expectations.
I HIGHLY recommend this place. -

We visited 3 wedding expos and tasted cake from many vendors. The bite from OC LLC was the first taste, and no other vendor's cake tasted nearly as good. We served several different flavors of cake and designed our own groom's cake. It was a pleasure to work with OC LLC! -

Janice of Occasional Cakes is a skilled baker who not only can make a beautiful cake but bakes a cake that you actually WANT to eat. When I was looking for a someone to bake our wedding cake, my 1 requirement was that the cake look good but taste like it came out of my grandmother's kitchen. While we didn't get a chance to eat our cake, our guests are still talking about how good it was. (By the way, the reason we didn't get any cake is because people went back for seconds, and thirds, and no one put extras aside for us, the happy couple!) We do have our top layer for our anniversary and will be asking Janice to make us another "fresh" one to enjoy. Thanks Janice for being the first and easiest part of my wedding planning. -

I decided on Occasional Cakes after meeting the owner at a wedding showcase. I was first impressed by the her simple, yet elegant designs and was then blown away by the delicious taste of her cakes. We then met in person a few months later and she took the time to sit with my fiancee, mother, and I while we sampled many many flavors and pondered on the difficult decision of what flavors we loved the most! After our wedding, we got soooo many compliments from our guests regarding the flavor and freshness of the cake (some even asked if we had leftovers)! I'm so glad I chose to book Occasional Cakes and will definitely use them for any future events. -

Occasional Cakes has been in my life for years. I have referred them out to couple getting married to include my own family. I am no longer a Wedding Consultant but continue to use them for my events (graduations, B-Day Parties, etc.) and will continue to use them in the future. The quality is outstanding and so is the presentation. You just can't go wrong using Occasional Cakes. -

We met Janice at a Bridal Expo and we just thank her for creating such a beautiful cake! Everyone raved about the cake and how delicious it was! Janice was honest and not out to take our money and suggested cost efficient ways to save on feeding over 100 people. She also was able to recreate what we wanted and we loved it! She even added in an additional touch! I must admit that my sister ate 6 slices the night of the wedding and we did not use the sheet cake so the next day at the cookout she went ahead and ate just about half a sheet cake herself. She's all skin and bones but that may not last long! I thank you for making the vision come true! I may not be able to hold out on a year for the top tier!

My daughter (the bride) and I first met Janice from Occasional Cakes at the Washington DC Bridal Show in January 2013. There were several cake vendors but none compared to Occasional Cakes. This was not just our opinion but as we walked around the convention center, we overheard many other guests making the same comments. We asked Janice to make and deliver our cake to our venue at Whitehall Manor in Bluemont, Va. but Janice had to regretfully decline because of the more than 65 miles she would have to drive to deliver the cake. Janice wants to deliver an exceptional product and in the extreme heat of August, this would be difficult. So we went to many cake tasting events at different bakeries in Northern Virginia trying to find a cake that matched Occasional Cakes. We were not successful but decided on a local bakery anyway. Since we did not have to place our order until the middle of July and our wedding was midweek on a Wednesday, I decided to try Janice one more time to see what we could do to fill my daughter's dream to have the "No Pink Strawberry" cake for her wedding cake and I sent her an email. Janice responded immediately. She said she would talk to her driver and get back to me. She got back to me right away with plans that if I could be flexible on the time the cake was delivered and how the cake was stacked, she could provide our cake. The venue agreed the cake could be delivered earlier in the day and we placed our order. The cake was the most delicious, moist beautiful wedding cake, a true masterpiece completing our dream wedding. The price we paid was more than reasonable. Outstanding service, outstanding responsiveness, outstanding value and flexibility. Janice showed her professionalism not wanting to accept business if she could not deliver an outstanding product but was willing to work together with us to provide our wedding cake. I will enjoy using Janice again and I highly recommend Occasional Cakes; best value, best product! -

Just absolutely wonderful and friendly service...and we didn't feel like we were talked into spending an arm and a leg. They worked with us to make the cake exactly as we had envisioned at a reasonable cost. In fact, it was even better than expected, in look and taste. The cake was beautiful on the outside and moist and well flavored on the inside. In fact, with such a wide variety of flavors, one of the hardest decisions was actually what flavors to choose. I loved that they included instructions on how to best preserve the anniversary layer, otherwise I would not have had a clue. I was extremely happy with the service we received. Janice for Occassional Cakes, LLC was my vendor for my wedding cake. I was very impressed with her services and responsiveness to all of my 100 questions from the beginning to the end. On the day of my wedding, when i saw my cake, I was overwhelmed with excitement because it was the most beautiful cake i have ever seen. People are still telling me how delicious it was....and that's a good thing cause if people don't remember much from weddings they always remember the cake. OMG! My wedding cake was so beautiful! Everyone at the reception were talking about how good the wedding cake was. We are so please with services and the wedding cake. I fell in love with Occasional Cake’s butter rum cake at Newton White Mansion’s winter bridal show. I visited a few bakers for cake tastings but I couldn’t forget Janice’s butter rum cake. The cake is moist with great flavor. Janice was a delight to work with. She is extremely professional and was very accommodative to my ideas and changes. Days before the wedding I was concerned that I would not have enough cake for all of my guests. Janice proactively helped me develop a solution. The end result was a beautifully decorated wedding cake that was absolutely delicious. My guests loved the cake and there were hardly any slices left at the end of the evening. I strongly recommend Occasional Cakes for an upcoming wedding or event!! -

Occasional Cakes provided services for both the wedding and groom's cakes. The service was excellent from start to finish!!! Ms. Janice Harrison's design style is modern with a traditional flare. The cakes not only looked beautiful but tasted fantastic!!! If you want a cake that looks straight from the page of a magazine but tastes as if your mom made it then Occasional Cakes is the place for you. We served every guest both the wedding and groom's cakes as each plate was left empty on the table at the end of the night. The groom loved his cake featuring his favorite NFL team (Minnesota Vikings) it was as if he was a child again pointing and smiling directing everyone to "look at my cake". Occasional Cakes service was very professional and Ms. Harrison went the extra mile for our special day by obtaining a gold cake stand to match our wedding decor. I was SO happy to find Occasional Cakes! We had gone to a few tastings, but nothing compared to Occasional cakes! We ended up going with Vanilla butternut and Cherry Chocolate Marble (sounds weird, but was DELICIOUS!!). The service was professional and the cake was elegant and delicious! If you're looking for a cake that both looks good and tastes good, you will want to choose Occasional Cakes. Like most brides, I barely had a chance to eat at my wedding and that included getting a real slice of my own wedding cake. My husband and I left for our honeymoon the day after our wedding and the desserts we received while on our cruise vacation couldn't even compare. When we returned home, we were delighted to find some leftover wedding cake awaiting us and quickly indulged ourselves. In addition, the cost in comparison was exceptional. Occasional Cakes has the best moist cakes. I was able to sample over 10 different cakes during my taste testing. I gave them an idea of what I wanted on my cake and they put it together and it was more than what I was expecting. I just loved my double heart cake and it fit right in with my double heart theme. We were really impressed by the service and quality that Ms. Janice provided. She did a extrodinary job at understanding out needs and creating a cake that we really wanted. When we came into her office we were blown away buy the vast varity of taste she had to offer and the promptness of service she provided. She did a amazing job and it turn out exactly the way we described it. I love this cake lady and I recommend her to pieces. Everyone could not stop talking about how good the cake was. In fact it was so good someone walked off with our anniversary layer. So that is the down side to a great cake. You may not get to taste any. But from the piece we did have it was we great! OMG! My cake was delicious...they say the three things that make a wedding is the dress, the cake, and the DJ...I had all three...I had a three tier cake...one tier was butter rum, one was a lemon marble filled, and the anniversary tier is a raspberry filled... I also had two full sheet cakes in vanilla and chocolate...we cut costs by doing it that...Occasional Cakes are very reasonable and the quality of the cake is excellent...I have given so many referrels to this place for friends and family that are now planning weddings...I would definitely recommend this place to everyone... -

The cake was both beautiful and delicious! Ms. Harrison was able to add a few special touches to the design we chose to make it unique to our wedding. We had a three tier cake with 4 different flavors and everyone loved it - I got tons of compliments on the cake after the reception ended. Janice did a wonderful job on the wedding cake. I couldn't not make up my mind how I wanted the cake to look and I interviewed a few different vendors, but came back to Occasional Cakes because they could give me everything I wanted with no compromise. The cake was a huge hit, people didn't want me to cut it. I saw a photo in a magazine and they basically made it come to life. Then the taste, how about it was fabulous. I wish I had ordered the extra sheet cake. I couldn't believe how fast the cake went. We were lucky to have the top layer to take with us. Most of the time, folks usually have plenty of cake leftover, but not us, folks were almost eating up crumps off the silver cake stand. I met with Janice twice and she was wonderful to work with and assured me that the cake would be as I pictured in my head and it was and the absolutely best part was that it taste as good as it looked. -

I learned of Occasional Cakes and Janice Harrison from my wedding coordinator and had an introduction conversation at a bridal show. We were able to taste some sample cakes and were really intrigued to learn more. Two weeks later my husband and I booked our private tasting and just had a delightful time. Each flavor was delicious and Ms. Harrison was able to compliment each of our preferences. Our guests particularly enjoyed the no pink strawberry flavor.
I was also VERY appreciative that Ms. Harrison worked within our budget and made us feel comfortable through out the entire selection process. Ms. Harrison works with many clients and gives each person personal attention. If you have questions during your order process, I found it easier to get in touch via email. Ms. Harrison responded promptly and all my questions were answered. For a delicious cake from a local baker, I would definitely recommend Occasional Cakes. -

We used Occasional Cakes for our wedding cake, and it was delicious! We chose a very simple design and decorated with orchids from our florist. The cake was very moist, full of flavor and tasted like a homemade lemon pound cake. I can't wait to taste our anniversary layer - because at the end of the night, the rest of the cake was gone!
I would recommend Occasional Cakes for your wedding cake because Ms. Janice is very professional and her cakes are awesome! Great customer service on each encounter with her. Very responsive and professional. Very flexible with me when I changed the design of my cake a few weeks before my wedding and executed what I wanted perfectly.
Her cake tasted THE BEST out of every wedding showcase that I visited and every individual bakery that I visited; and I visited over 10 bakeries and went to all of the largest bridal showcases in the region. It was moist, flavorful, and just plain delicious, which is what everyone wants for their wedding cake right? When I met Janice at the bridal showcase, I kept going back for more cake because it was so good.
She offers a variety of flavors and people are STILL talking about how great my cake was. She also offered several visual examples of work she had done in the past in the form of actual cakes and has several photos of her work online. I'm planning to use her for all of my cake needs from now on. Definitely would reccomend her! -

We were supposed to have filling in our cake and a monogram done in our wedding colors. We were not informed that the monogram could not be done in our color prior to the wedding, therefore, I was surprised to not see it on the cake when we went to cut the cake at the reception. At that time we also discovered that the filling was not done.
However, Occassional Cakes provided us with a complimentary anniversary cake to compensate for the error. I appreciated their responsiveness.
I would definitely recommend this vendor. -

I used Occasional Cakes for a retirement reception. I gave very little instruction about what the cake should look like - just basic guidance that I needed a cake that reflected the love we had for an employee that completed over 34 years of service. On the day of the event, I was blown away when I saw the cake. It was prefect and the center piece of the event. I couldn't have asked for more. Everyone who saw the cake wanted to know what bakery we used. -
