Natalie shot my engagement photos and let's just say she was more than flexible. It was supposed to be on a Tuesday, but because of high winds she was able to move to Thursday. Let me just say she did not disappoint. Her photos were fantastic and my fiancé absolutely loves them. -

Natalie and her team were amazing. They took such beautiful shots. They really took the time to listen to the images we had imagined for our wedding (including some ethereal night shots) and were able to make those happen for us, but also had so many great ideas of their own and created beautiful photos. We were really impressed with the quality of both the ceremony shots and couple shots but also all the pictures of everyone having fun and dancing. The team can really do it all. -

Natalie was wonderful to work with, from helping to plan a timeline and the amount of time we would want, easy to communicate with, and had great tips for getting the pictures we wanted.
And our pictures were fantastic! The photos on the beach the lighting is so beautiful and the “under the pier” photo session gave some of my favorite photos. I, of course, had looked at photos beforehand for ideas but didn’t really know what I wanted. She did a nice job coaching us to get the more “candid” posed shots feeling comfortable and looked great.

Beautiful photos
Natalie is a wonderful wedding photographer. As a second time mature bride having a very small wedding with only kids and grandkids in attendance, I wasn't sweating the small stuff. But the location was the OBX in October. So of course on the day of our wedding there was a nor’easter hitting squarely. Natalies calm demeanor and flexibility to move our date by one day made every difference in the world since rain was blowing sideways on our original date and we did not have an indoor venue to take pictures in. While it was a bit cloudy still that day it made for the most beautiful wedding photos any bride could ask for. Thank you Natalie for your beautiful work to capture our day!

We were celebrating our 40th anniversary in the Outer Banks and invited family and close friends to our vow renewal ceremony. We didn't want the typical "posed" wedding photos. We wanted mostly candid shots to capture the spirit of the occasion and the people in attendance. Natalie was phenomenal! She was easy to work with and accommodated all of our requests. She arrived promptly, examined the event space and made suggestions for set up so she could capture shots without obstruction. Throughout the afternoon she checked in with asking if there was anything specific we might want. I received detailed information shortly afterwards with information on when we would receive our photos. They arrived in a few weeks and we were more than thrilled. We would highly recommend her services if you are planning an event in OBX. -

I would absolutely recommend Natalie Heim Photography for engagement & wedding sessions! Natalie was very responsive when coordinating, she never left us feeling in the dark or in question of anything. Natalie was very flexible and accommodating when my fiancée and I traveled to the Outer Banks the week of a highly anticipated category 5 hurricane, which was scheduled to hit the coast on our original picture date. She made herself available for another day, monitored the weather & kept our original session time (sunset) as this was very important to us! My fiancée and I are not familiar with posed photography and Natalie made us feel at ease and was happy to guide poses during the session. Being out of state & unfamiliar with destination area vendors, I relied on the reviews of others and Natalie’s portfolio to assist with the decision. We had the pleasure of working with Natalie Heim for our small, sound-side wedding in Kill Devil Hills, OBX on May 3rd, 2025, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience.
I was initially drawn to Natalie’s light, airy, and beachy photography style—and she delivered exactly what I had envisioned. From the very beginning, Natalie was incredibly easy to communicate with. She was professional, responsive, and made the planning process feel smooth and stress-free.
On the day of the wedding, Natalie was a calm and unobtrusive presence. She was professional and kind throughout, capturing all of the shots we had requested while letting the day unfold naturally. She gently guided us through posing when needed, which was really helpful, but also allowed for beautiful, candid moments to shine through.
We received a sneak peek gallery just a week after the wedding, and the full set of photos arrived within six weeks. The final images are stunning. What we loved most was the family feel of the photos. They were warm, intimate, and truly reflected the love and connection of the day.
We would absolutely recommend Natalie to anyone looking for a wedding photographer—especially if you're drawn to a natural, relaxed, and heartfelt style. She has a great eye and a calm, professional presence that made a meaningful difference on such an important day.

Natalie was amazing for our wedding photos. The pictures themselves turned out fantastic, her coverage was great, she kept us on time for getting the pretty sun setting sky shots we wanted, and actually getting through all of the photos was really fun, easy, and smooth with her guidance. We had great talks ahead of time so when she showed up on the day she knew exactly what shots we were getting and who should be in them and she made it all run so smooth, it was amazing. When we got our photos back it was great to see all of the details she captured through the whole day that we didn't even get a chance to take in on the day! I highly recommend her, hands down. She was pleasant to work with, very professional, good energy, calm when it felt like we were herding cats (or my dog), the photos came out beautifully and I cannot recommend her enough. -

We would highly recommend Natalie. She was so much more than a photographer. We had the parents and Bride and Groom in (3) time zones. Natalie offered (2) suggested timelines from the ceremony thru the Bride & Groom's departure. We kept her timeline thru the entire process. Knowing the venue, she made suggestions for lighting and decor to ensure her photographs would capture the moments. The portraits of the Bride and Groom were gorgeous. She provided thousands of the ceremony and reception that if you click quickly, it is almost a real life capture. She was patient and a little ball of energy. Highly recommend! -

Natalie was simply a pleasure to work with. After our original photographer canceled our contract, Natalie was prompt, responsive, and experienced. We hired her in August 2023 for our November 2023 wedding. She provided detailed instructions and timeline for our day. She provided example galleries to help make decisions regarding locations for bridal portraits/engagement photos. She delivered online galleries within quoted timelines, even throughout the holiday season. Natalie was very experienced with working with our venue, the Kitty Hawk Pier House, and knew all the right angles to get the perfect shot. I loved that our online wedding gallery was divided into the different aspects of the day (i.e., getting ready, first look, bridal party, ceremony, family photos, and reception). It made viewing the photos for the first time so fun and easy to navigate for purchasing prints and albums. I would highly recommend Natalie for any of your photography needs if you enjoy a bright, airy, and natural style of editing. She was laid back, easy going, and made sure we got all the photos we were wanting to capture to look back on of our special day. -

Natalie was absolutely amazing to work with! We can both be a bit awkward and camera shy at times. Natalie helps you feel relaxed and comfortable and knows the best spots and poses to help capture you both beautifully and authentically. After we saw our engagement photos, we had no doubt that our wedding photos would turn out amazing as well. Natalie also assisted with some last minute wedding day logistics. We had no idea where we wanted to do our first look photos but she helped us find the perfect spot. And when we were in a bit of a time crunch before the guests arrived, she still managed to get some amazing pictures while making sure I got safely hidden away in time! We would definitely use Natalie again for any photos in the future and highly recommend her if you are getting married in the Outer Banks! -

Natalie was fantastic to work with! I was immediately attracted to her "soft lighting" style when looking at her portfolio. My husband and I utilized her for our engagement and wedding photos and both sets turned out gorgeous. She was a great communicator, organized, and offered sample timelines and suggestions on how to make the most of your photo session(s) (she sent us a whole packet!). The only problem I have is choosing photos for a photo album as there are so many great ones! She worked with many of my vendors that I selected and all were incredibly happy when I mentioned she was my photographer. Great to work with - cannot recommend enough. -

Natalie is the one!
Natalie's landscape photography and soft lighting edits are what attracted me in the beginning. With these skills, I knew she would be able to capture beautiful photos of our bride/groom portraits and our wedding in general. They turned out absolutely gorgeous.
Personally & professionally, Natalie is very calm and efficient - seriously the best combo of a personality type that you could ever want as a photographer. My Dad even told me: "You never knew she was there but she got it all done". She was also extremely flexible and stayed a little later than originally planned because the schedule moved a little slower than we intended. She even helped coordinate parts of our night with our DJ because my wedding coordinator wasn't able to make it last minute due to Covid.
Natalie really went out of her way to make our day magical, and we couldn't have done it without her. Thanks, Natalie! -

TLDR; Natalie was a fantastic choice and we couldn't be happier. Choosing a vendor without meeting them in person can be tough, especially for destination weddings, but Natalie is awesome and made the process a breeze!
We had one of the dreaded COVID weddings - but Natalie was a huge help through the process. She was responsive and flexible when we had to make the difficult decision to postpone our wedding. Once we were back on track, she was communicative and helpful in terms of getting our plans sorted, even providing a very clear guide for our friend who was officiating to help put her at ease. Natalie set very clear guidelines in terms of what she needed from us to make the day go smoothly and then was able to be flexible during our wedding day when we decided to changes things at the last moment.
The photos themselves - fantastic quality photos, she captured the spirit of the day terrifically and caught our guests in the best action shots. She managed to cover almost all aspects of the day, despite all the things happening that day! Our digital files arrived on a beautiful wooden thumb-drive, which was such a lovely touch, and her online gallery made it easy for our family members to order prints of their favorite shots. We are so glad we worked with Natalie and highly recommend her. -

We used Natalie for both our engagement photos and our wedding and could not be happier.
On the day of our engagement photos the weather was not exactly cooperating but even with the wind, bits of rain and cold weather our photos turned out amazing!
For the wedding Natalie was great to work with not only on the day of the wedding but leading up to the wedding and after. She was always in contact to answer any questions and thorough with pre-wedding check-ins to make sure you were able to get all the pictures that you wanted. On the day of the wedding she was everywhere it seemed! She was able to capture so many amazing moments of our special day. There are so many amazing pictures we have had trouble deciding which to have enlarged and printed. After the wedding, Natalie reached out with a timeline for completion of photos and even gave us two sneak-peak sets of photos. Overall, we could not be happier and we look forward to using Natalie again for more photos! -

Getting to work with Natalie for our wedding was truly a blessing! From the start it was very clear that she was highly experienced, professional, and also very personable. I orignally found Natalie online through OBX Wedding Association and fell in love with her photography style. My dream and vision has always been to get married on the beach. After my husband and I discovered the OBX several years ago, I knew this was where I wanted to get married someday. I emailed Natalie to discuss pricing and start the planning process. She was very helpful with planning out the wedding photography schedule and providing her professional suggestions/ timeline. This was especially helpful because we did not have a wedding planner. The day of our wedding she kept us and our wedding party on schedule to make sure we were able to fit everything in. Definitely check out her photography skills on Instagram or her website and you will not be disappointed! Her quality and pricing are unmatched for the OBX. My husband and I highly recommend her and when we revisit OBX will use her to take out family photos someday. -

So happy with our photos!!
Natalie was incredible during the entire process! She made it very easy to reschedule our May wedding to September due to COVID. Natalie was helpful in giving us great tips and ideas to have the amazing wedding photos we wanted! The photos from our wedding our AMAZING and Natalie and her assistant were sure to capture all the details and so many candid moments of everyone having a great time! We are so glad that our pictures capture our entire day from start to finish and are so happy with our decision to choose Natalie as our photographer. We had about 90 guests attend and I definitely recommend getting the two photographers! -

My husband and I decided to postpone our original wedding plans with friends and family due to Covid-19. Instead, we decided to get married with just our immediate families. I knew I would need a photographer to capture our special day. When I came across Natalie’s photos, I called her immediately to check her availability and left a message. She called me back within the hour and went through her entire process. She could tell how stressed I was and made me feel like everything would be fine. I loved her immediately!
When our wedding day came, a storm was about to come through, it is 2020 after all. We decided to move the wedding up a few minutes to beat the storm. I was concerned I would not have my beach wedding photos, but Natalie was there with her umbrella and camera! Since we didn’t have a lot of time she even met us the next day to take our bride and groom portraits! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have chosen her as our photographer that day! We got our photos back in the time frame she gave us and they are amazing!!! We are having a hard time picking favorites. You are making the right choice if you select Natalie to take your pictures! -

Natalie and her second photographer were completely outstanding. The week before our wedding was when Hurricane Dorian hit the Outer Banks. The Outer Banks had evacuated and we weren’t sure if we were still going to be able to have our wedding in Nags Head. If that wasn’t possible, our only other option was to have our wedding in Virginia Beach. Natalie and her team were willing to travel a couple of hours away so that she could still be a part of our day. This meant so much to me and took a huge amount of stress off of my plate. Natalie and her team made each member of our bridal party comfortable and brought genuine smiles out of all of us! Natalie has a true creative eye and knew exactly how to capture us to create amazing pictures that we will forever treasure. Since I was planning a destination wedding, Natalie’s clear and prompt communication was much appreciated to help make my planning process much smoother! Natalie was prompt with a turn around for our pictures and truly exceeded all expectations! -

Beautiful Photos!
What can we say about Natalie besides OMG! Beautiful photos that we keep looking at to remember our beautiful elopement on the beach. Natalie photographed our November wedding, as well as our engagement photos the previous June. Her absolutely beautiful photos speak for themselves, so instead, I'll speak about what a pleasure it was to work with her! We live out of state, so the planning and coordinating of having a destination wedding could have been extremely stressful. Thankfully, Natalie is extremely knowledgeable about everything from wedding day timelines, all the way down to sunset times. Natalie sent helpful wedding planning materials and conferred with the us to ensure that our wedding day went smoothly. She created a shot list based on our conversations, which made the family portraits quick and easy. She filled every second of her time with us taking portraits both for our engagement session and wedding, so that we were left with even more poses than we ever hoped for! On top of it all, Natalie delivered our finished gallery faster than we ever imagined. We are so thankful to have beautiful images of our wedding that we will be proud of for the rest of our lives! -

Natalie is an AMAZING photographer not only are her photos absolutely beautiful but she knows what she’s doing. Me and my husband got married and I was nervous about the photoshoot because I’m not a huge picture person. And she made me feel beautiful and comfortable. We cannot say enough about Natalie, she was awesome to work with! It was difficult planning a destination wedding but Natalie was so quick to answer emails. She was professional and fun to work with. Natalie was absolutely one of the best choices we made when planning our wedding! She was super responsive to all my questions (and I had a lot since we were planning from afar). I had some specific shots I wanted for our portraits and she had printed out examples so we could pick and choose what we were comfortable with. Where do I start? My wedding ceremony was on the beach and the one fear for all outdoor weddings came to past. It was raining! Not too hard just a light steady rain. It had always been my dream to get married on the beach and I wasn’t about to let a little rain ruin it. Natalie came prepared with equipment to protect her camera and told me she would work with whatever I decided. I’m so glad she did because the pictures came out phenomenal. She helped us stay organized and calm on our wedding day and even brought a second shooter to help.
