Wow, where to even begin! The moment my husband and I finished our tour of Mt. Woodson Castle, we knew this had to be our wedding venue. The castle itself is gorgeous and such a cool historical place to get married. The grounds are so well maintained--the oak trees, flowers and other natural foliage created such a beautiful and romantic environment for our outdoor spring wedding. It’s one of those places where if you wanted to, you could get away with very minimal decor and/or florals because the property has so much natural beauty just on its own.
The most appealing part of getting married here second to the actual location is the amazing team and resources that come with it! Mt. Woodson comes with a full service catering team and bar services (Personal Touch Dining), a day-of coordinator, organized rehearsal, venue manger support every step of the way with a production meeting to coordinate all the fine details, rentals, a room filled with complimentary decor you can use for your wedding day, lawn games for guests, etc. It was such an easy choice for someone like me who wanted choices and control over many aspects of my wedding, but appreciated how organized and painless Mt. Woodson made many aspects of the planning process by offering them in one place.
I would like to personally recognize Kelsey and Sophia (Mt. Woodson’s venue sales manager and event producer) for being so awesome and assisting me in planning this wedding via the multitude of emails/questions I sent their way! They were always prompt, kind, and extremely helpful. I never felt like I was being a nuisance and knowing I had an approachable team to reach out to was incredibly important to me. :-). I would also like to thank Kaitlyn for being the true MVP as my assigned day-of-coordinator and absolutely KILLING IT with her leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail. She placed (and packed up!) all of my decor, organized basically every moment of the day, and made sure our wedding was as beautiful and perfect as we could have ever hoped for. You are a gem, Kaitlyn. -

Derek was the backbone of our wedding
Extremely professional staff from start to finish. Derek and the bartenders were truly doing God’s work throughout the night. Every detail was handled smoothly, and the team stayed on top of everything without ever being intrusive.
Their professionalism, awareness, and calm execution helped the wedding run flawlessly and allowed us to actually enjoy our day without stress. From guest needs to timeline flow, the staff anticipated issues before they ever became problems. -

Highly Recommend
Highly recommend Mt. Woodson Castle and team. The venue was stunning, we got so many compliments about how beautiful the grounds were. Amy's closet had so many items for us to borrow which was nice. The vendor list had amazing options (Highly recommend Paige Hill Photography and Simply Adina florals) The team was super flexible and had so many options to customize and tailor the wedding for what we wanted. They were super responsive to all questions and concerns. The day of coordinator was amazing at keeping the day moving smoothly. -

Mt. Woodson Castle is an absolutely breathtaking wedding venue. The location is stunning beyond words - everywhere you look feels magical and picturesque, making it the perfect backdrop for such a special day. The staff were incredibly accommodating, responsive, and a true pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. They made everything feel seamless and stress-free, allowing us to fully enjoy our celebration. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the beauty of the venue, and we couldn’t have imagined a better place to host our wedding. All around, it was a truly wonderful experience, and we’re so grateful we chose Mt. Woodson Castle. -

Mt. Woodson was a perfect venue for us! Derek and the team were amazing throughout the entire process. We wanted to go with a nontraditional colorful palette for our tables and glassware. Derek was not only instrumental in bringing this to life, but his enthusiasm and creativity helped keep us excited the whole time. The venue was beautiful and the wedding day went off without a hitch. The entire staff, including our wedding day planner Jessica, were prompt, professional and thorough. It was incredibly helpful to have one team managing the venue, catering, set up, etc. They were well prepared for inclement weather (luckily we avoided) and were always quick to reply to our many questions. Would 100% recommend, thanks again Derek! -

Absolutely Perfect!
Derek & Sam are ABSOLUTELY the best! Our wedding would not have been as idyllic or as coordinated without them!
When we originally started looking at venues, Mt Woodson was the first one we viewed and we immediately knew we could cancel all of our other showings because this was the one. It is a breath-taking location, and all of the services Personal Touch Dining offers make it a no-brainer.
We predominantly worked with Derek setting up our wedding and we couldn't be any more happy. Everyone knows that planning a wedding can be a stressful event, but Derek is an absolute pro at what he does and made it easy. Everything from helping use choose color schemes, to supplying vendor lists, to an itemized timeline of events!
The same goes for Sam! Derek was our chief planner, and Sam was our day-of event coordinator to manage our time and ensure everything flowed smoothly. She was on top of everything the whole day! I can't even imagine trying to do this wedding without Derek and Sam's help.
One of the perks working with Personal Touch Dining is that they are not only wedding site coordinators, but are the caterers for food. One of the main things everyone remembers from a wedding is the food, and we had multiple people remark that our wedding food was the best they've ever had at a wedding!
Even if you do not select Mt Woodson Castle, I highly recommend checking out Personal Touch Dining's other venues because they do weddings exceptionally well!
Ok, now for "the negatives" or the things I wish I changed:
- Absolutely no negatives with Derek, Sam, or Personal Touch Dining! We are 100% happy with everything from them.
- The timeline: if we had to do it again, we would opt for the extended timeline. The time goes by so fast, I don't know how it went by so quickly!
- Weather: be aware that it is quite hot in Ramona during the summer. Everyone in our wedding was either from CA or TX so we are used to it, but for non-locals this is something to be aware of. We didn't have any rainy weather, but there are also provisions included for inclement weather. -

I was so impressed with the team at Mt. Woodson and all of their help throughout our planning process! I didn't have a wedding planner and I truly felt I didn't need one - Sophia, Kelsey and our day-of coordinators were so responsive and really walked me through the entire process from start to finish.
Mt. Woodson is naturally beautiful and we loved our ceremony under the oak trees and reception on the large patio! Having a lot of time for dancing during our reception was really important to us and Mt. Woodson was very accommodating and helped us to extend and maximize our reception time and space by moving the party indoors as it got later.
I thought that our wedding (June 2024) was perfect and I would recommend Mt. Woodson to anyone! :) -

The venue's ambiance and charm made it an unforgettable setting for our celebration. As for the food and drinks – they were simply divine! Personal Touch Dining's culinary offerings exceeded all expectations, delighting our guests with every bite and sip. Their recommended vendors, who were equally exceptional, ensured a seamless and professional event, adding to the overall magic of the day.
I cannot recommend Mt. Woodson Castle and Personal Touch Dining enough for your wedding. Their commitment to excellence and attention to detail not only made our day perfect but also alleviated so much stress throughout the planning process. Trust me, choosing this venue will be one of the best decisions you make for your special day. I am endlessly grateful for the exceptional service and support they provided. -

Our experience with this venue was amazing to say the least. We started off working with Peyton then we worked with Kelsey and Sophia who were incredible! They were very responsive and so so kind. They kept us up to date as we got closer to the wedding and answered any questions I had in a very timely manner. The venue was beautiful and the food was so tasty as well. My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our time at the venue and working with everyone. And our day-of coordinator Sam was the best hands down! She was on top of everything for us making sure the rehearsal went smooth, answered any questions we had, and always made sure we were good on our wedding day. I'm so thankful to have been able to work with everyone at Mt. Woodson and Personal Touch Dining. I wish I could do it all over again to relive our wedding day!! -

Our wedding experience at Mt. Woodson Castle was nothing short of extraordinary, and we are absolutely thrilled to give this venue a glowing 5-star review! From the stunning oak tree site for the wedding ceremony to the exceptional service provided by the Personal Touch Dining staff, everything was simply perfect. Peyton, our Sales Manger and Day of Coordinator, was an absolute gem to work with. From our first meeting to the last dance, she made the entire wedding planning process a breeze. Peyton's warm and friendly demeanor put us at ease right away, and we instantly knew we were in good hands. She took the time to listen to our vision for the day and offered valuable insights and suggestions that elevated our wedding to the next level. Peyton's attention to detail and organizational skills were truly impressive. She flawlessly coordinated with all our vendors and ensured that every aspect of our wedding day was executed with precision. She went above and beyond to accommodate any last-minute changes or additions we wanted to make. The Mt. Woodson Castle itself was a fairytale venue that exuded charm and history. This place is beautiful! We had our reservations when we looked on Google Maps and saw the golf course nearby, but it is a gorgeous venue with plenty of outdoor space. Our wedding was simply magical. We added some extra lighting through their preferred vendor that really made the reception area special. The venue partners with Personal Touch Dining for catering, and the food was incredible without having an outrageous price tag. They were very responsive to questions and were there to assist in making our vision a reality.
Downsides: Stairs can be tricky for older guests, they did not have a scale diagram of the reception space which caused a lot of unnecessary back and forth during the planning process to get it right, the 10PM cutoff time and lack of initiative in some planning aspects. -

Our wedding day at the Mt. Woodson Castle was everything we could have dreamt of and more. It truly was magical and perfect in everyway and the teams at both Personal Touch Dining and the Mt. Woodson Castle were amazing to work with. Peyton was the Sales Manager who helped my fiancé along in our journey and she always was so helpful, quick to respond and helped make the planning process as easy as possible. The Day-Of Coordinator, Kelsey, was such a gem and truly had such a fun, energetic vibe that made the entire day that much better!
The food was INCREDIBLE. And when I say incredible, I mean it... I promise you that it's not like your typical wedding food that is sometimes lukewarm and not visually appealing. This food looked and tasted SO SO GOOD. Plus, there were leftovers to take home at the end of the night so my new hubby and I didn't have to cook the next day, which was just such a nice touch.
I could go on and on about how amazing our day was here, but just to sum the entire review up - SAY YES TO THE CASTLE! I promise you won't regret it. -

We had the most Magical Wedding at the Castle!
Mt. Woodson Castle and Personal Touch Dining made our wedding day extra special! Just as my husband and I did, our guests fell in love with the Castle as it is a beautiful and unique hidden Gem. The food was so delicious and using Amy Closet's for extra decor was so convenient!
We worked with Peyton and Brooke for the planning and Kelsey did an amazing job executing our rehearsal and wedding day. Peyton and Brooke were very response to all my questions and made the process simple and stress free. They both offered great advice from helping with the timeline, decor and made sure I was happy with everything.
For our rehearsal and wedding day, Kelsey was beyond amazing. She was friendly, organized and made sure everything was running smoothly. It felt like she as part of our wedding party as she just fit in perfectly with our group of friends/family.
For me, I have zero wedding regrets and that has everything to do with Mt. Woodson Castle and Personal Touch Dining and the entire team! I highly recommend celebrating any occasion here! :) -

Mt. Woodson is literally the best venue out there in inland San Diego. Peyton and her Team made everything smooth, fun, and and absolutely drop dead gorgeous! The food is to die for, the bridal suite is spacious and so pretty. The fact that your guests can wander the the different rooms in the castle makes this place so fun and unique for a wedding. When the sun sets between the trees it is so serene and provides the best lighting for pictures. Desert options are literally endless through Personal Touch Dining. There are so many options to choose from in different categories when planning your wedding here. It’s truly a magical experience. If you’re looking for a classy, rustic, and princess wedding vibe, this is your venue. My husband and I reminisce on our wedding day every day. -

Mt Woodson was the first venue we looked at and we instantly knew it was the venue for us! We loved how unique it was and the history of the building. The pictures online don't do the history justice! We especillay loved the hand painted astrology room. All of the ceremony & reception spaces were amazing but we fell in love with the oak trees and the lower lawn for the reception. Another great part about the venue is how inclusive it is. The coordinators were so helpful in finding vendors for the things we wanted (marquee letters, specific arch, etc). The coordinators were very commmunicative leading up to the day and were happy to help answer all our questions! The provided lists of suggested vendors and that helped us so much since we aren't from the area! They also offer a lot of items from "Amys Closet" which has table numbers, card boxes etc. It was great to have access to these for our day. The day went pretty smoothly and we feel so thankful we found Mt Woodson as our wedding venue. All of our guests really loved it as well, we are not local to San Diego so it was a bit of a drive for some guests, but they all said it was very worth it and loved it as much as we did! I am so glad we got married at Mt Woodson and will have this special memory at this venue for the rest of our lives! I would definitely reccomend this for couples looking for a unique, affordable, all inclusive venue option! -

Absolutely amazing experience
This is truly a hidden gem! My husband and I toured over 10 different venues before coming across Mt. Woodson and boy we’re we blown away as soon as we walked up. After officially signing the contract, Peyton and Brooke made everything else so easy to make my princess day come true. I am still in awe of how smoothly my wedding day went. I can not recommended this wedding venue enough, from the staff, to the beauty of the actual venue. -

Lovely outdoor wedding
We loved our wedding here! Back in 2019 we planned our wedding for January 2021. Then the pandemic hit and we postponed it by one year. It was super easy and quick.
Leading up to the wedding Peyton, & Brooke were super helpful. They answered the questions we had, and put up with a lot of last minute changes that came about from the omicron surge (lots of last minute cancellations due to the surge).
the dress rehearsal was quick and easy too.
Then the long awaited big day! We've been waiting for this day for 2 years! the entire day went so smoothly. We didn't have to worry about anything. Peyton set up all the decor beautifully, and we loved seeing our guest book laid out. The reception went smoothly and all the guests commented on how beautiful it was. It really was! We loved the gorgeous trees and mountains!
The only slightly less positive thing is that I thought the food could've been better. It tasted great at the tasting, but the day of some of the items lacked flavor (namely the veggies and steak).
Other than that, we loved this venue and felt like it was the wedding of our dreams! -

Mt. Woodson Castle = amazing wedding venue!
We cannot sing the praises of Mt. Woodson and Personal Touch Dinning enough! The castle and the grounds are beyond gorgeous and have such a rich and detailed history. We received so many compliments from our guest about how beautiful and authentic the scenery and venue were. We booked the venue and started wedding planning from Tennessee at the height of the pandemic. We were not able to travel to see the venue, so Mt. Woodson took us on a live virtual tour, covering every inch of the property. We originally started planning with Taylor, then Peyton took over about 4 months before our wedding. Both Taylor and Peyton were absolutely amazing! Peyton really made our final months of planning a breeze, inluding helping us navigate a few last minute unforeseen guest list changes. We cannot thank her enough for helping make sure all of our guests could be there on our special day! Our Day of Coordinator Dani was above and beyond any one we could have asked for. Do you want to be stress free day of? Dani is your girl! She took care of us throughout the entire day, including bringing us drinks and appetizers while we were taking pictures, giving guests tours of the beautiful castle, and taking care of even the smallest of details.The Personal Touch dining staff were bubbly and helpful. Staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs and congratulate us on our union. The food is absolutely amazing. Every single dish from appetizers to desserts was delicious! We recieved an enormous amount of compliments from our guests on the food, bar, and service. They also pack up all the left overs for you to take home! It was perfect for a midnight snack. We truly cannot praise Mt. Woodson enough! If you are thinking about booking here, you 110% should. You will not be disappointed! My wife and I already have plans to renew our vows in 10 years at Mt. Woodson, and we only got married in September! Cannot wait to do it all over again. -

Besides the venue being absolutely GORGEOUS, what really made our wedding so great was how smooth everything went day-of. The Coordinators are on top of it. They are so fast and discreet you don't even realize they have completely transitioned the decor from ceremony to reception.
I was kept in the loop throughout the night but without them being a bother at all.
My parents had to do NO clean up at all because all our personal decor/gifts were in a pile all ready for us to put in our car.
Appetizers were brought to our sweetheart table because we missed cocktail hour for photos. I felt very attended to and the day was absolutely perfect. -

This venue was incredible. I had my wedding here just three days ago and I am still dreaming. Mt Woodson was the first venue we looked at of just two, as we knew right away it was where we wanted to have our wedding. Every single detail was accounted for, and they accommodated to my every need. There was NO NEED for a wedding coordinator as the day-of staff BLEW MY MIND with their service. Shout out to Dani who took care of us on our wedding day and made everything easy for us. This venue is so special and I want to do it all over again! -

Amazing Staff!
Dani and Peyton were instrumental in keeping me calm and happy during a little rain scare, they helped keep the atmosphere light and fun! They helped keep the positive mood and the vibe, they kept everything timely and on point. Absolutely beautiful!
There are not enough words to express how beautiful, amazing and perfect our wedding day was! Also, due to Covid, we got to celebrate 2 times! How many couples can say that?! In 2020, Taylor helped us with every detail, she answered every question and even the uncertain times to explain our options since CA was only allowing ceremonies and not receptions at the time. We opted to do our ceremony on July 31,2020 and then have our reception the following year on July 30, 2021. When contacting Taylor back earlier this year, she forwarded me to Dani and Peyton since Taylor moved away. I was really bummed she moved since she was so helpful and sweet! But little did I know, Dani and Peyton were just as amazing!!! Honestly, they picked up right where Taylor left off. They reminded me what colors and food we chose, the timeline of the wedding and answered all our questions! The main reason we chose Mt. Woodson, obviously other than the beautiful venue with the oak trees, the historic castle and just so many photo opts wherever you looked, is their delicious food! Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE loved the food! They said it was the most delicious wedding food they have ever eaten. From the staff (who by the way compliments you when they see you and just makes you feel so good!), Peyton who overlooked the whole venue and honestly Dani who is my favorite person there! She took down notes, wrote down where we wanted all our decor, every little request was with a smile to make sure it was a perfect, relaxing and fun day! I trusted her to put decor wherever she thought would look great, told us what is coming next, food was delivered to our table so we wouldn’t even have to get up and go get it and even drinks when we requested it! My husband Aaron and I had a baby back in May and he made his debut there also along with us celebrating our 1 year anniversary. It was just so awesome and I wish we could do this every year! They send you home with a beautiful wine and even a hand written thank you card to top it off! I truly highly suggest couples have their wedding at Mt. Woodson Castle! 😊💕🎉🙌🏻✨ -

We had an amazing wedding here this past July 2021. I hope everyone's wedding was as stress-free and easy as ours was! We had a blast the whole day and so did our guests! We initially worked with Taylor when choosing our venue and then this past June 2021 we worked with Peyton. The day of person Dani was amazing! Every single staff goes above and beyond to make your day feel special and important. The food and was great and we loved the dessert bar. Their vendor recommendations are top notch as well. Thank you again for the whole day, we would not have changed a thing! -

Everyone commented on how amazing the venue was. The planning process was so easy! We had worked with Taylor all throughout year and half we were engaged and she answered every question we had and made wedding planning during a pandemic so easy! On the wedding day Dani took over for us and simply blew it out of the park! She even noticed my moms glow stick was out on the dance floor and gave her a new one! This venue is beautiful, all the guests loved the area and history of the castle. The food was phenomenal, everyone was so impressed and couldn't stop raving about it afterwards. Taylor and Dani are fantastic, leading up to the day and the day of they were happy to help with anything and answered all our questions. We felt safe and comfortable with their COVID precautions and had no guests sick afterwards. I would happily recommend this venue to anyone looking for something inclusive and beautiful! -

Best Venue in SD
This venue is absolutely stunning. Because it’s so beautiful we honestly didn’t think we could afford it. After our initial meeting with Taylor, we immediately booked it!! It exceeded our expectations and was all within budget.
Taylor is so patient, answered ALL my questions and made my dream wedding come true. I’m beyond grateful to have had our wedding at Mt. Woodson. They will not disappoint. -

Mt Woodson Castle is truly one of the most beautiful locations ever and we couldn't have asked for a better venue or team for our wedding on September 4th, 2020!
The location itself is stunning from the grounds and trees to the handcrafted interior and beautiful bridal/groom suites. I cant wait to see our pictures because with such an impressive background they have to be incredible!
Taylor, our event coordinator, is probably the most talented and amazing person in the entire world and she made wedding planning a breeze! Thanks to COVID we had to change dates, adjust group sizes, deal with city and state restrictions, and of course all the regular wedding planning details, but she handled it like a champ, was always super responsive, and made everything work our perfectly! I literally don't think we could have planned this wedding as successfully as we did without Taylor and the incredible team at Mt. Woodson!
Food is also incredible thanks to Personal Touch Dining, which for me and my husband was a big part of why we chose this location! Since COVID we could not have the reception at the castle, but Taylor (again being amazing) arranged a catering contract and they brought all the food to us at our second location. People are still raving about the tri tip!
We couldn't have asked for a more special day and I'll be honest, we picked Mt Woodson, paid, and the first time we ever got to go was on Sep 3rd for the rehearsal when the wedding was Sep 4th. We just new from all of Taylors help, the other reviews, and the pictures online that this was our venue and we were right! -

Unlike Anything Else
This venue is gorgeous and so unique--you won't find anything like this anywhere else. Due to covid restrictions we were only allowed to have our ceremony and take photos there. I am so grateful we were able to do that because our photos came out beautifully. Everyone was in awe of the beautiful grounds and theres so many amazing spots for photos that are so unique. We had our ceremony in front of the castle which made for a gorgeous backdrop for all of those photos. We did wedding party photos by the oak trees and family photos by the castle. You also have access to the grounds and golf course, so my husband and I were able to do photos there as well. Its such a beautiful outdoors space with the castle and lots of greenery and then the inside of the castle is so cool and different. I looked at soooo many venues online and toured them as well, but nothing compares to this. As soon as I walked on the property, I knew we had to get married here.
Taylor, the event manager, is AMAZING. I can't emphasize that enough. She always answered all of my crazy and panicked questions quickly. The venue was very accommodating with all of the last minute changes due to covid as well. We were able to do the tasting before our reception had to be cancelled and the food is delicious. They have so many great options its hard to chose. Even if something you want isn't on their menu they will make it for you. Its also a really good price for everything you are getting in my opinion. -

The castle is so unique & the willow trees make an unforgettable backdrop -- we knew we had to get married there. Taylor, our coordinator was a dream to work with!! Mt Woodson castle was the best choice that I made for my wedding (aside from my groom of course)! The historic venue itself is gorgeous! We got married on the front lawn with the castle as our backdrop, the upper lawn for the reception, and inside the castle for desserts and dancing. I could not be more pleased with how beautiful and unique this venue was.
Almost more impressive than the venue itself was the staff. Leah coordinated all of the details leading up to the event and Taylor knocked it out of the park with our day of coordination. Both were extremely responsive and on top of any question that I asked. The morning of my wedding my dad decided that he wanted to add some space heaters as the nights were chilly. Talk about a last minute request! The best part is that Leah and Taylor were able to make it happen! Between them and my other vendors I did not have to worry about a thing on my wedding day.

I cannot be happier with my choice to get married at Mt. Woodson Castle. From the moment I saw pictures, it went to the top of my list. Then when we went to visit in person, I immediately knew this was it. Mt. Woodson was the first and last venue we looked at. It was the perfect combination of romantic and rustic. You feel like you're transported to another time period with the stone building and trees, but it is still close enough to accommodations. I cannot count the number of guests that asked me how I found such an amazing venue or raved about its beauty. On top of that, my wedding pictures were gorgeous due to the unique setting and architecture. If that wasn't enough, the coordinator, Iman, was a dream. She handled every detail and request of mine (no matter how small or silly it was) with ease. I felt so confident that everything was going to be handled and go exactly how I wanted it. It was such a relief to leave the wedding day responsibilities to a trustworthy coordinator so I could take in the magic of my special day. You will not be disappointed if you pick Mt. Woodson Castle. -

I worked with Iman who was very helpful in explaining everything and was very patient with our families who were taking forever to tour and asking a million questions. I love the venue. It was the first I'd been to that I could imagine as a wedding venue even without any tables and chairs set up. It's gorgeous making me need to do little to decorate! I also loved all the options available for the ceremony and the reception. I'm very happy so far! -

Bella Sent on 07/10/2012After looking at hundreds of venues all over southern california I finally found Mt. Woodson Castle. It had everything I was looking for: beautiful and unique property, indoor and outdoor spaces, very accommodating, fit within my budget. Not the typical ballroom; everywhere you turn there is a beautiful backdrop for photos.
The castle is run by Personal Touch Catering which does a fabulous job through the entire process! Because they run the castle you need to use them as your caterer (you can bring in your own cake) but I would use them anyway because they are awesome! They have package deals and are very flexible about customizing them to fit your needs.
The only advice I have is to wear wedge shoes because the castle's original stone pathways get hard to walk on. Also, there is not a hotel right by the castle so you might want to consider transportation for your guests. We did not provide transportation but I think it would be nice if it fit into your budget.
The venue was one of the highlights of our wedding. All of our guests were so excited to be at the castle!

Dream venue, dream wedding
We had our wedding here on June 6th and it was absolutely everything we hoped for and more :)
What made Mt. Woodson perfect for us:
- highly professional and friendly staff from our first tour to the day and communication afterwards, special shout-out to our day-of coordinator Jessica and Derek & Kelsey who worked with us while planning
- Stunning outdoor and indoor venue, so you can have the ceremony & dinner outside and then switch inside for the party and dessert. Bonus: in the worst case of bad weather you still have a fantastic place for your wedding instead of a back-up tent solution. And you can go until 11pm while other venues limit the party to 10pm.
- Amy's Closet is filled with items to use free of charge and they allow DIY flowers/decor which was important to me since I am artistic and wanted to give my wedding a personal touch. Only thing you have to do is assign a person resposible for set-up & take down but our day-of coordinator was so sweet to lend a hand too.
- Food was fantastic! We opted for 2 carving stations & buffet style dinner but they also offered plated menus for our guests with dietary restrictions. Our guests were complimenting the food and many went back for seconds and vegan & vegetarian guests were happy with their plates too. Plus: you get to take home the delicous left-overs- they even packed a beautiful to-go plate separately for the bride & groom.
- Plenty of parking with option to leave the car over night. Just beware that Ramona is a bit remote so it is not quite as easy to catch a ride, so preordering transportation makes sense.
There is some stairs and uneven paths but myself as a bride and all other guests in heels were getting around just fine and also our older guests had no complaints. They were also very accomodating of my brother who is in a wheel chair and they had bathrooms that were accessible for him.

This venue was everything we were looking for in a wedding venue. Leah was great during the entire process. She was responsive and was able to answer any questions or concerns we had. During the wedding, Taylor took care of everything. My wife and I were married at Mt Woodson Castle in December 2018.
Mt Woodson Castle was the perfect place for our wedding. We fell in love with the oak tree ceremony site and the breathtaking views of Mt Woodson. We had our wedding in December and experienced ideal weather. While we got a bit lucky, it goes to show that this is a viable outdoor venue for most of the year.
The great room of the castle was fantastic. We used it for a pre-ceremony tradition and for post-dinner dancing. The great room accommodated our 200 guests with ease; in practice, there were never 200 people in the room at the same time but even at its most full it never felt too crowded. The upstairs balcony made for a wonderful viewing platform for those who wanted to watch the dancing but not participate. Other guests milled about on the patio outside or on the front lawn.
Many of our guests reached out to us and told us how magical the venue was. The only downside to the venue is that it's charming and aesthetically-pleasing uneven surfaces create mobility issues. We were able to mostly work around this because our guests were considerate and lent a helping hand to those who had a hard time with stairs and slopes - but our grandparents were definitely tired and sore by the end of the event.
I would like to offer a special thank you to Iman, Rian, and Leah, without whom our event would not have come off. I wholeheartedly recommend Mt Woodson Castle as a wedding venue.

This review has been very difficult for us to do. We were fully committed to giving a 5 star review to Mt. Woodson. However, due to many things that we will outline below, we will be giving a 4 star review, regretfully but with conviction.
Positive things about our venue:
Beautiful, amazing ambiance and location. When you work through Mt. Woodson, you work with their caterer, their decorator, their bakery, their coordinator, and there is an abundance of supplies/décor/trinkets that you can use for both the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. It is basically an all-inclusive package, which is amazingly convenient and makes it so much easier to plan and work with their coordinator. Our wedding was the best day of our lives, and we had a beautiful day overall. The food was delicious, our guests were happy, and overall, there were absolutely no major issues. Since we got married in April 2022, we were slightly worried about the weather, because sometimes we will get rain. However, the weather was absolutely perfect too, and Mt. Woodson even set up heat lamp rentals for us, which our guests appreciated when it got dark. The décor was beautiful, our bartender was excellent, we had signature drinks, and many other small details that they helped to coordinate. There were games to play during cocktail hour for our guests, the bridal and grooms suites were very nice and it was amazing to be able to have photos there. Everything was on site. The other people we had hired for our wedding made it even more amazing (DJ, officiant, florist, photographers, and videographers). They provided a list of recommendations, and accepted vendors, although if you found someone who wasn’t on the list and you wanted to hire them, you had to get it approved. Which is fine and understandable due to insurance reasons. We have absolutely no complaints on the OVERALL day.
Now, here is why we have a 4 star review instead of 5 stars.
When we originally toured the venue, we still had other options that we were looking into. It was a different wedding coordinator than the one we ended up working with. I think her name was Taylor. A few months later, we contacted Mt. Woodson and booked our date, and by then our coordinator changed to someone named Peyton. We were working with her for our entire planning of our wedding and were informed that she would be our coordinator the day of. However, the day before our wedding, we did the rehearsal at the venue with our wedding party. The coordinator was someone we had never met, who was clearly new to the position, and said she was still being trained. She also informed us she would be our coordinator the next day, which was slightly stressful because we had never worked with her. Details get missed when that happens, which is what ended up happening. I had been working with Peyton on a number of décor items we wanted at our venue (our main archway at the ceremony, the pillars at top of the aisle, and some other items) that Mt. Woodson provided. When I mentioned these to the new coordinator, she seemed confused and quickly wrote it down. The archway, on our wedding day, was there but the pillars to hold flowers were not. We had printed our signature drinks and put them in frames to put up at the bar, which we gave to them the day before. We found out later that our frames were broken and our signature drink posters were taped to the side of the bar and no one really knew we had signature drinks. We found out because we asked our guests if they had tried our signatures drinks yet, and they had no idea what we were talking about, so we went over to the bar and saw for ourselves. Our food was delicious, but was disappointing. We wanted a buffet style, but being the bride and groom, we were served plates which knew ahead of time and were fine with. However, we were pulled away after eating a few bites, to do photos, and when we came back about 15 minutes later, our plates were cleared. We were starving and never got more food, because our coordinator was nowhere to be found. She seemed very disorganized and kind of frantic. My husband and I honestly don’t even remember the coordinators’ names from the day of our wedding (night shift and main coordinator) because it was so last minute and stressful.
One thing that was very important to us was the leftovers that we were told throughout our planning, and even on their website, were going to be packed up for us. Since we had a buffet, and an extra side and extra meat for everyone, along with hors d'oeuvres at our cocktail hour, we were expecting many leftovers. When we were getting picked up by our driver we hired, we asked about our leftovers. The brand-new coordinator we had never seen before showed up (night shift coordinator?) and told us she would search the back for leftovers. Supposedly, there were no leftovers to be found and “our guests ate all the food and there are no leftovers”. If that is true, that worries us because that means they ran out of food and our guests went hungry. If it is not true, they completely lied to us multiple times, since we had even contacted the venue afterwards about it and they continued to deny we had leftovers. They told us that this is the first time they had run out of food. That worried us even more because we had about 10 no-shows at our wedding. Would 10 people have gone hungry? We know they were not being honest with us, because we saw the amount of food there. This was completely unacceptable and we had to drop them a whole star from their review because of this.
Also, as a side note, the dessert was mediocre, we weren’t a huge fan, and that was the majority of the “leftovers”. We ordered a large variety of dessert and they looked great, but tasted like chemicals.
Overall, we had a beautiful wedding, it was the best day ever, the vibes were amazing, and the venue provided what we wanted.
Would we still recommend this venue? Yes, absolutely. I think there was an issue with communication between the coordinators and the issue with the caterers either not providing enough food, or not providing us with our (VERY EXPENSIVE) leftovers.
Thank you, Mt. Woodson, we are grateful and will never forget our perfect day.

Personal Touch does a good job on food, which is nice as they are your only choice. Just be prepared for the nickels and dimes to add up. I rate high on flexibility, because as others have said, they will change as many times as you want, they will just charge you for it. If you ever question Tracy, she will passive aggressively show you who's show this really is (exclusivity will do that to some people I suppose). The wedding will be beautiful, just be prepared for stress throughout the entire process from Tracy, and to spend more than you think as she nickel and dimes you until the very last minute...
