We had a great experience working with Sherissa and her team for our destination wedding. They helped us choose Secrets Moxché, which ended up being the perfect fit, and handled guest travel booking smoothly and professionally. Communication was clear overall, and our guests appreciated having a dedicated team to work with.

There were a few moments where it was hard to get ahold of the broader travel team, but Sherissa and Itzel were fantastic about stepping in right away to make sure everything was resolved. They were responsive, proactive, and truly made us feel supported throughout the planning process. We’re very grateful for their help and would absolutely recommend them for destination wedding travel planning.

Only way to do a destination wedding!

I worked with Sherissa and her team for our destination wedding, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I didn’t even know where to begin when it came to planning a wedding in Mexico. Tt felt so daunting at first, but Modern Destination Weddings cut out all of the guesswork and made everything incredibly easy from the very start.
After listening to all of our needs- including the fact that our group loves to have a lot of fun- they found the resort that was absolutely perfect for us. They presented several options they felt aligned with our vision, and the one we chose ended up being everything we hoped for and more.
They managed travel for all 114 of our guests, which made the entire process unbelievably easy. I never had to stress about the travel details because they handled everything seamlessly. Once everyone was booked, I was transitioned to my on-site wedding planner, Mitzy. The planning process does feel a little “blind” at moments, and you really do have to trust the process, but it all came together beautifully.
I ended up having the best week of my life, and so did every single person who attended. Our wedding was beyond anything I could have imagined. Sherissa and her team went above and beyond from start to finish, and I can’t recommend them enough.

The Modern Destination Weddings team was phenomenal. It was such an easy process working with them, and they handled everything in a timely and professional manner. They were very communicative, informative, and available at all times to help us throughout this process. We absolutely loved working with them to plan our special week. Everything turned out perfect, and that was in large part to the work that they did. We had 66 guest attend our destination wedding, and every single person complimented the Modern Destination team for their organization, clear and consistent communication, and for helping complete all logistics for getting to/from the resort. We highly recommend using Modern Destination Weddings for planning your wedding, as it was the BEST decision that we could've made! They will handle a lot of the stress for you, allowing you to focus on the details of your vision. Solid experience

True Experts!

Sherissa and Itzel couldn't have made the planning anymore seamless. To helping nail down the perfect venue and pricing for us, to staying on calls with the venue and providing advice the whole way. Sherissa felt like a true partner every step of the way and because of her I truly never felt the typical "wedding stress" if you are wanting to have a destination wedding look no further than the amazingggg team at Modern Destination Weddings. They helped with our room block and organizing transportation to and from the resort for our guests. Miracle workers!

When we first started planning our wedding, the idea of a destination wedding felt both exciting and overwhelming. I didn’t know where to begin—researching resorts, communicating our vision, and helping everyone book their travel seemed like a mountain of tasks that I definitely wasn't interested in doing. I wanted our wedding planning process to be as stress-free as possible so I could truly enjoy the day with the people we love. That’s when I was pointed toward Modern Destination Weddings, and they turned out to be nothing short of a miracle!

Working with Sherissa, Itzel, and Sheba was an absolute dream! From the moment we connected, they made everything so easy. Sherissa guided us through the process of selecting the perfect resort. After we went over our vision and budget she sent over so many good options and really helped me feel good about our choice by sharing additional pictures, reviews and even videos. She truly went above and beyond to ensure the resort matched the vision I had for our special day and the entire experience turned out to be even more than I could have imagined!

They didn’t just make the big decisions easier—they also handled all the little details that I was dreading. Thanks to them, I didn’t have to field endless questions from family members about international travel or logistics. They were always patient, kind, and supportive, even helping with my smaller worries that they certainly didn’t have to. Seamless Destination Wedding Planning

I highly recommend Modern Destination Weddings for your resort wedding. Fereshta was with us from the start to choose our resort, confirm a date, and provide guidance along the way. Resort communication is minimal until about 3 months from the day, so it was great having a responsive contact to answer any of our questions.

Sheeba and her travel team made it so easy for our guests to book rooms, coordinate flights, and schedule transfers to the resort. Overall, our guests had an easy travel experience and raved about the resort.

I would not have been able to navigate planning a wedding so far away with Moden Destination Wedding's support!

Truly a stress free experience

We could not have planned this wedding without Modern. They made planning our wedding and trip a totally stress free experience. From day one Kendyll and Itzel were enthusiastic and extremely helpful! Even if you don't know where you want your wedding yet, they will do all the hard work for you and send you options. They are amazing!

The travel team takes care of every aspect of of travel for your guests; resort stay, flights, and transportation to and from the resort. Your guests have a person they can always reach out to that will answer all their questions and concerns so you don't have to. Krystal kept us updated frequently and was always there when we needed her.

Very helpful if planning a destination wedding

If I'm being totally honest, there were times when using Modern Vacations and Destination Weddings I wondered if it was totally necessary to use their services. Helpful? Yes, necessary? I was unsure. However, after watching two friends plan destination weddings this past year I realized how lucky I was to find them! All the stresses my friends had to deal with on their own I did not have to! Blindly scouting hotels, arranging shuttles for their family members, calling and emailing hotels to find wedding dates and availability, among about 20 other vacation related tasks were things I did not have to worry about! I worked with Fereshta and Sheba and they were so nice and professional. I started planning prior to covid and had no idea how challenging things would become! They kept me calm when I was having a full blown meltdown, meanwhile they are probably dealing with 20 other brides just as stressed as me! I felt like everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I had to reschedule my wedding which they made so easy on me and my guests. Then a few months after rescheduling the hotel sold out of rooms. They worked diligently to check everyday to see if new availability had opened up. If I planned this on my own there is no way I would have been able to secure rooms on my own! I felt as if I was their priority. All of my guests were also so happy with the service they provided. Bottom line, planning any wedding is hard but planning a destination wedding is really hard. You have to babysit all your guests and remind them to do so many things, book your room! Get your passport! Pick your flight! Arrange a shuttle! It was nice to know the team did the reminding for me so I could focus on the important wedding stuff.

Do Yourself A Favor And Hire Modern Destination Weddings

I am so thankful that I found Modern Vacations & Destination Weddings. From the very first consultation call, I knew they were going to be a great fit. As a person who travels quite frequently and who has always wanted to have a destination wedding, I thought planning one on my own would be simple. Once I started looking, I realized that was not the case. Itzel and Fereshta at Modern Vacations helped me sort through all the details. They took the time to listen to all of my must haves for the wedding and devised a detailed list of potential venues that would fit my needs. They are friendly, responsive and overall they made me feel like they were on "Team Ashley" when helping me make big decisions. No question was ever a silly one and they had many wonderful recommendations when I wasn't entirely sure what direction I wanted to go in. Their expertise in the travel space made me feel very comfortable when choosing a resort. They have traveled to many, if not all, of the resorts they suggest. They have also built relationships with all of the resort wedding coordinators which helps to get answers quickly. Reduced the Stresses of Wedding Planning

Most brides talk about how stressful planning a wedding is and for the most part I can happily say, can't relate. And that's largely in part to the best in class team at Modern Destination Weddings! From the first line of communication, Itzel was phenomenal. I had submitted info request forms for many similar companies online and Itzel, with Modern Travel was the first one to actually call me (instead of sending a generic email). That sealed the deal for me. The team with she and Kendyll were very thorough with finding out what our wish list was for the wedding and providing us with a very detailed portfolio based on our preferences with photos, prices, and other important resort info. Kendyll guided me through every step of the planning process and even stepping in when I felt that the resort was being a bit lag in communication or vague in explanations. She was sure to get to the bottom of it. Sheba was truly a godsend. I panicked as most brides do as we got closer to the wedding date. Not only was she calm and assuring, but she was understanding and did not make me feel like a lunatic. I'd also like to shoutout Anna. I didn't work with her personally but many of my guests did and gave me rave reviews about her ability to follow up and take care of their booking needs. I wish that we had budgeted to have these ladies our my wedding because they were so instrumental in the success of our wedding at Royalton Negril. The booking process for 50+ people is something that would have drove me insane but the Modern Travels team made it happen. We are already thinking of when our vow renewal will be and where we'll have it. We have some big shoes to fill in and you can bet that we will be having our team with Modern on speed dial to facilitate the travel again.

Outstanding Experience

I came to know about Modern Vacations through a destination wedding that I attended in 2016. The experience I had with them for just planning for my family attend a wedding as guests was outstanding top to bottom.
So much so, that they were my first option for planning my 25yr Vow Renewal in St. Lucia.
From the beginning they are attentive to your wants and needs. They provide you with all the details and set the expectations. I have had so many calls, emails and texts with my agent (Anna Duran) during this planning process and she is ALWAYS responsive, pleasant, caring and on top of whatever the situation is. They take the stress out of planning a destination wedding. Heather answered every single question or query from the beginning to end of the planning process. I honestly don't know how people do this themselves and I am a type A personality/Bride LOL. Seamless experience

Let’s face it, planning a destination wedding is terrifying to say the least. However, the team at Modern Destinations quickly put all my fears at ease. From the moment I had my first call with Itzel I knew I had made the right decision. Tammy and I would like to Thank Rhonda and the team at modern destination weddings such a memorable experience for our wedding. They did an outstanding job by reserving our resort and flights, along with getting us set up with our wedding coordinator at our resort in plenty of time prior to our arrival which was detailed by the resort coordinator on when certain things needed to be finalized. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our wedding and our wedding group. Also, Rhonda and her team did a great job responding to our questions and concerns in a timely manner as well as helping us get set up with the right personnel to book our excursion while we were there. From day one we knew we were in good hands with Modern Destination Weddings! Itzel and her team were so efficient and professional. Now Onyx was the perfect resort for our wedding group--the service was top notch, the grounds and amenities were beautiful, and the size of the resort with the option of Breathless next door was the perfect fit...literally! We wouldn’t have known about the resort if it wasn’t for Modern destinations. Our wedding was beyond special. The coordinator team was communicative throughout the entire process and they made the wedding day that much more enjoyable for us. The best part was our decision to have a destination wedding. Being able to spend multiple days with our guests rather than one day was beyond memorable. We are so happy with our overall experience :)

Modern Destination Weddings far exceeded our expectations! Our main concern from the get go was making sure our guests would be in great hands and well taken care of for their traveling needs! They did a great job of making sure all of our arrangements were well organized and were there ready to help at any time! Heather, Sam, and Annalise did a great job in making sure any questions or concerns we had were taken care of in a timely manner. It was also comforting to know that they were there in the event there was any issue with the resort and that they could be the middle man in case of any problems due to the language barrier! Ask for itzel!

Itzel is the absolute best! I honestly don't think I would've been able to pull off a destination wedding without her! It was all so overwhelming at first, and I was a nervous wreck unsure if going with MDW was safe and reliable or not but I knew I needed help finding the perfect resort. I'm so glad I took a chance. Itzel was extremely punctual, knowledgeable, professional, and terrifyingly efficient. She actually felt like a childhood friend who I could casually talk to about anything . Actually after I was turned over to the the wedding planner at the resort in Mexico, I was really missing Itzel and her "get-it-done" efficiency. She would respond to my million questions within the same day usually, if not by the next day. The building the company is based in in Texas actually completely flooded out due to a hurricane, and she STILL somehow managed to respond to me with lack of resources, internet, power, and work space, and she openly communicated everything with me, never missed a beat. If she could've stayed my wedding planner, I would've let her! Itzel actually planned a site-visit for us when we thought we had narrowed it down to 3 resorts for our wedding. We flew to Mexico and visited all 3, she arranged meeting times prior to us going and arranged transportation to and from resorts and all of that was taken care of so it was as least stressful of a thing as it could be. I was totally heart broken on return, because none of them were "the one" and I was feeling so guilty and like such a pain in the ass failure after all that work she did for us to come back and say none of those are it, we have to start over. But we did. Without one little guilt trip or hesitation, Itzel got right back to work for us and stayed positive the whole time while I was feeling down and unsure. She made sure we searched and got answers until I was totally happy and confident with my choice. Itzel was nothing short of amazing and helped us so tremendously in the process! I couldn't have done it without her! Thank you a trillion Itzel! My vote goes for MDW!!

The best decision we made planning our destination wedding!

Planning a destination wedding is supposed to be the easy way out, but we didn't have a particular resort or even location in mind, so it was pretty overwhelming. When I found Modern Destination Weddings and spoke with Heather, I knew this was going to be a service we needed. It immediately felt like Heather was a friend helping us decide where to go, not a travel agent. She asked us detailed questions about the setting we wanted for the wedding, what size and amenities the resort should have, our budget for the wedding, and most importantly for us, what the budget for our guests travel would be. Once we narrowed it down to a few locations, she sent over resort options, considering our feedback each time and sending new resorts until we found the perfect one. She coordinated our booking and then the team at MDW handled each of our guests' travel arrangements. They set up a website for us which was amazing, we added it to our save the dates and each guest could go in and request a quote to help decide if they could attend the wedding. I'm positive that not feeling like they were on their own to figure out travel arrangements is what allowed 40 of our closest friends and family join us for the best. day. ever. I had peace of mind not having to answer a million travel questions, I could just direct them to call MDW, and I used the guest list on our website to track who had received quotes and follow up with those who hadn't booked yet. We were married at Excellence Resort in Punta Cana and everyone complimented us on the amazing, affordable resort we had chosen and kept asking, "How did you find this place? It's amazing!" All the credit went to Heather and her team. If you are thinking about planning a destination wedding, make it the easy, low-stress option you are looking for by booking with Modern Destination Weddings. We said over and over, it was the best decision we made.

Seamless Experience

Amazing travel agents for our destination wedding

My husband and I were thrilled with Modern Vacations & Destination Weddings! Initially we worked with Courtney and then with Heather. Courtney helped us sift through different resorts that were within our budget and our guests budgets until we found the perfect one. Heather was able to find us a killer deal on flights, so much cheaper than prices I looked at on google flights and other such sites! It was really nice to have other travel agents for our guests to contact for questions and booking. Using this company was the best decision and I look forward to using them again in the future for other vacations!!!

I worked with Itzel Rodriguez from Modern Destination Weddings for my wedding in Jamaica and she was absolutely incredible! From our first telephone meeting she made me feel so comfortable as if I were talking to a friend! We were still very early in the destination wedding decision and she helped us seal the deal with her immediate kindness and knowledge. Itzel was very quick with her responses, and also very reliable with sending over any information in the time frames we discussed. I had a question the night before our plane left for Jamaica and had to email her and she got back to me within minutes, so its safe to say she will definitely see you through from start to finish! Everyone at Modern Destinations were very nice and professional. We got married at the Royalton White Sands Resort and everything was absolutely perfect, we all had such a great time! Everyone always ask me about the process and if I would recommend and I always say YES! For us a destination wedding was the best decision we could have made!

Easy booking accomidations for a destination wedding

Husband and I were invited to our first destination wedding. The wedding couple recommended we use Modern Vacations & Destinations Weddings to book the resort accommodations and airfare. When I contacted the company I was put in touch with Anna. Anna was super professional and responsive. I asked her to give me prices for the resort with and without airfare. She ended up finding me the lowest airfare initially but I asked her to price a few other flights. After comparing prices, I ended up going with Anna's original recommendation. In the end, I definitely saved money going through this company that if I had purchased the resort stay and airfare separately.
Overall, I had a great experience working with Anna and Modern Vacations and I would recommend then for any wedding party looking to book a destination wedding.

From the very beginning to the very end they made everything so simple and perfect. I had the pleasure of working with Heather Kogler the last 6 months planning our Dream wedding at Dreams Playa Muejres in October 2018 and she helped plan our AMAZING honeymoon at The Palace on Isla Mujeres. Truly stress-free experience

We knew we wanted a destination wedding from the moment we got engaged, but when we started planning it became a little overwhelming trying to please more than 20 family members and friends with flights, hotel reservations, pick-ups, drop-offs, and so many other details. Modern Destination Weddings came to our rescue and we couldn't have been luckier to have found them. They simply took care of everything and everyone, they helped us in our search for the venue, booked our flights, made our reservations at the hotel, picked us up at the airport and at the hotel. Itzel, Jaz, and Heather were so accommodating and knowledgeable, they dealt with every guest all by themselves; we had this website called Modernly which allowed me and my husband to keep track of how everyone was doing (who paid, who asked for another quote, who reserved, who cancelled, flight number, arrival and departure times, type of room, etc) and we were not bothered at all throughout the entire process. They were always available if we had any questions or changes, and the most important thing for us: no one was left behind. It was so easy, not to mention more affordable since they have access to awesome deals which are not usually opened to the regular public. Overall, it was the best decision we made, our dream wedding in Cancun couldn't have been possible without them.

Couldn't Have Done It Without Them

Two years ago, I made a phone call on a whim having no real idea what I was doing planning a destination wedding.

Itzel from day one (I hate that saying but it's true), was AMAZING. I felt like I had hired a wedding planner even though she was truly just our travel agent. She was so helpful, thorough, friendly, punctual and above all else, on our side. I say this because my husband and I had an unfortunate situation where the resort we had decided on and signed a contract with dropped us without much notice due to circumstances I still don't really understand. I was frantic to say the least, and Itzel and her assistant went to bat for me and truly saved the freaking day. We were able to move resorts rather quickly and pick up the pieces but I believe that's 100% because Modern Destination Weddings helped us get through it.

The majority of my guests also had such great things to say about MDW's travel agents in booking their trips. I had never used a travel agency before but will absolutely contact them in the future for any future travels :)

It goes without saying that I highly recommend them. I feel like I owe Itzel so much more than what I was required to pay. I hope this review inspires anyone out there to use them. Such a wonderful resource I didn't even know I needed until I needed them. THANK YOU!!!!

We have used Mike’s services twice now and both times have been so easy! I can’t say enough good things about this company and their team. Seriously, such a dream to work with! We booked a trip to Mexico through them and everything was perfect. Flights, transportation and the hotel, everything went smoothly. We recently used Mike again booking a trip to Dominican Republic and I expect it to be another 5 star trip!

What can I say.....AMAZING SERVICE and GREAT PEOPLE to work with! I personally worked with Mike Hart and Rhonda Dehner - I can not say enough good things about them. Super responsive, great suggestions, handled literally everything, answered all my concerns/questions and knew exactly what I wanted. I have worked with Mike twice now (my destination wedding with 60 people to the Hard Rock Riviera Maya and a fun vacation with 16 friends to Punta Cana) Both experiences have been incredible. Mike is always on it. He had my vacation set up and booked within two days!!!! I will continue to use them for ALL my future vacations!!

I worked with Jaz to book my trip to my sisters destination wedding. She was wonderful. She created quotes for me out of multiple airports and with different dates and was very understanding and helpful throughout the entire process.

Heather and Rhonda were fabulous! They helped our wedding experience run very smoothly and were available via email or phone if we needed anything! We had our wedding in January 2018 at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay, Jamaica and could not have a better week of celebration. Destination weddings are the way to go!!! These guys rock and promise they will help you plan the wedding of your dreams!

Modern Destination Weddings made planning our wedding a breeze! They connected us with an awesome resort that matched exactly what we were looking for. Everyone's travel was taken care of and they made sure none of us had to lift a finger. We had some last minute changes with some of our guests and they were so accommodating and easy to work with. Using Modern Destination Weddings was hands down the best decision we made when we decided that a destination wedding for perfect for us! We worked with Itzel during our planning process and she was absolutely amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable about destinations, resorts, and wedding packages. She helped us pick the destination that was perfect for us, our guests, and our budget. She was so quick to respond to the many questions I had and made us feel very comfortable planning a wedding in another country. She made the process of wedding planning non-stressful and fun! All of our ideas came to life because of her and we could not have asked for anything better! We also loved how easy the team at Modern Destinations made the booking process for all of our guests going to the destination with us! We do not have enough amazing things to say about Itzel and the team at Modern Destination Weddings!!

We had such an incredible experience with Modern Destination Weddings! We worked with Rhonda, who was absolutely wonderful throughout the entire process. She was always prompt, gave us all the information we needed, and followed up with us to ensure we didn't let any deadlines slip. She negotiated great rates for us as well. When we had to cancel our original room block and switch our rooms over to individual reservations, she didn't miss a beat and maintained a great attitude while ensuring everything was taken care of. And she handled a good portion of our guests' accommodations, including my parents' and my brothers' travel arrangements - saving me a ton of work and stress in the process. She played a huge role in ensuring our wedding planning process was a breeze.

We LOVE working with Sally and Sam so far. They are beyond helpful to us and our guests for our destination wedding as well as for our honeymoon! Sally is on top of everything, if I call or email she immediately responds, it's actually kind of amazing! And Sam is readily available for our guests which is again unbelievable! They are a pleasure to work with and I would absolutely recommend his company for any and all wedding or honeymoon needs!

Modern destination weddings could not have been more helpful to us! Rhonda took care of all our (bride and groom) wedding related travel (site visits, transfers, wedding accommodations, etc) and her son Chris took care of the accommodations and transfers for all of our guests. They were very easy and professional to work with, they were always available to us or our guests for any questions or concerns. With planning our own wedding in Mexico, it was a huge relief to have this task taken off our shoulders. Everything went flawlessly the weekend of the wedding. Couldn't be happier with our choice to use Modern Destination Weddings!

Responsive and helpful

Modern Destination Weddings was easy to work with and went out of their way to help us through the difficult process of deciding on the perfect venue for our wedding in the Caribbean and also the process of booking rooms and transportation for all of our guests once we decided. This company does cost some money, but the full service they provide is worth it. Sherissa was always easy to reach by phone or text and we had regular Zoom calls with her to make sure everything stayed on schedule and everyone was taken care of for travel. I’m glad we decided to use this company to help everything run smoothly for us and our guests!

Such a worry free, simple experience!

When starting to plan our destination wedding, I knew we would want some help from a travel agency. Modern Destination Weddings has been all that and more. From our initial call with Heather, I felt confident that we made the right choice. All our questions have been answered in a timely manner. Communication is seriously excellent! When choosing a resort we were presented with lots of options and they were all right on point. Kendyll and Krystal answered probably a million emails we sent back and forth about the different resorts and room options. The modernly website was easy to maneuver and help was there anytime we needed it. We get married in August, and with this team I feel confident everything will run smoothly!

My fiancé and I are in the process of planning our dream wedding. Having a love for the beach and ocean, we decided on exploring the option of a destination wedding. We've traveled to the carribean and Mexico in the past and have always kept the cost low for all inclusive resorts. Rhonda was very prompt in reaching out and initially I was very excited to have assistance with the search for the perfect venue! Our wedding budget is $20,000 but we wanted to keep the cost of travel for our guests economical to ensure it won't break their banks! When I requested she assist us in finding a resort that was around $1,000 for 4 nights she essentially told me it was impossible. Mind you we are having an off season wedding and are flexible with the date/location. I asked for her to ensure me she would get us the best possible rates and she could not do that. Doing research on my own I've realized I can cut out the middle man (travel agents) and once we find our resort, they have on sight event coordinators that assist with the details.

Buyer Beware

We booked our wedding in January 2020 with a proposed date in May 2021 and due to issues associated with COVID-19 we had to cancel our plans. Despite the fact that when we paid our deposits to confirm our plans we had no knowledge a global pandemic was going to ruin everything; the staff at Modern Destinations will not do anything to provide any kind of refund. Paid them $300 and the resort $1,300, and got absolutely nothing in return.

In terms of services they provide- they are simply a middleman between you and the resort you choose to get married at. You could contact any resort directly and be put in touch with a wedding coordinator and forgo the Modern Destinations services. The rates quoted to us for rooms were no different than what you could book on any discount travel website.

Why I never work with travel agents

Working with Modern Vacations made planning our vacations so much more stressful, which I'm pretty sure is the opposite idea of a travel agent. We attended a destination wedding one of my best friends was having in Mexico and they encouraged us to book through Modern Vacations. I will admit I never work with travel agents - after one bad experience, I realized hotels + airline companies are much easier to work with when you book directly through them. I expressed this to our travel agent, Anna, when we were first put in contact and she told me I needed to book through her if I wanted to be involved in the wedding + any related activities (this was a total lie) and said my friend wouldn't get the same benefits of us attending if we booked separately. So I reluctantly booked with her.

We weren't just booking with a travel agent. She was booking through a third party, FunJet. I asked her to confirm our reservation directly with the hotel because I've had bad experiences booking through third parties. When selecting our room type, I told her it is very important to me that our room have a King bed. My husband + I were traveling without our children and there's nothing less romantic than 2 double beds. She told me in the room type we wanted there was a 99% chance that we would be given a room with a King. It seemed like it would be no problem.

I followed up with her as the trip got closer and was told she had not confirmed our reservation with the hotel as she had promised to do. So I did it myself. When I did, I was told NONE of the rooms we had reserved had King beds. So that 99% chance was actually a 0% chance. Luckily I had taken the time to confirm and was able to research other options.

When I contacted Anna, she told me they must have changed their rooms because she was sure there were rooms of our type that had King beds. She also said there weren't other options available. I sent her the information I had found doing my own research and suddenly she was able to find them too. So we changed our reservation.

We were told we had to pay in full in May (our trip was in July) so we did. Then our card wasn't charged for a full month. I received a random receipt a month later. When I replied asking why I was just now being charged, I never heard back.

I then emailed again with our flight information (we booked our own - thank goodness) so she could give it to our hotel transfer. My email also included several questions about the transfer. I never heard back. I emailed again and then finally called. She told me she never received my emails, but I later confirmed she did get my flight information. So she clearly got the email.

When I called, I confirmed our hotel transfer was not going to be some huge bus that took 100 people to different resorts. She assured me it was a 6-passenger van and we wouldn't have to wait at the airport for longer than 10-15 minutes. When we arrived we found out this was false information as well. AmStar told us we were booked on a shuttle and it could take up to 30 minutes to fill. Luckily the guy we were talking to "upgraded" us to a shared van. I contacted Anna about this discrepancy and she said she would look in to it, but never followed through. Again. We ended up upgrading our return transportation through AmStar to a direct transfer on our own. Spending time during our vacation to fix something that I had specifically asked to avoid in the first place.

I learned from the bride not booking with an agent wouldn't have caused any issues. There were no "lists" for wedding events. The rooms for wedding guests weren't even close to each other. We could have saved ourselves so much time, frustration, and probably money doing it on our own.

I will admit, I did not want to work with a travel agent and I was upfront with Anna about that from the beginning. My hope was she would take that as a challenge to prove to me why working with her was so great, but all she did was confirm my fears. I will NEVER book with a travel agent again, especially not Modern Vacations. It was the biggest regret of my vacation - I should have listened to my instincts.

Worst experience with my vacation. Jamie was my travel agent and she was awful. She was never responsive, took a week to respond to my questions and did not care about my satisfaction with the company. I found better deals off of different websites and she gave me a hard time with price matching. Never sent me my travel information and just wasn’t attentive. I was putting in more work researching than she was. This was supposed to take off stress for my vacation, but only made it worse. I will never use this travel agency again. Very upset.

I spoke to Rhonda on the phone and she was absolutely wonderful until she got her $100 deposit. After that, I never heard from her again. Don't waste your time or money with this company. You can do a better job on your own, for free!
