A Must Have Wedding Cake

I can't recommend Melissa/MJB Cakes enough! Her cake perfectly matched my simple but elegant vision. We chose a red velvet cake with chocolate chips, and it tasted absolutely amazing—unlike anything I've ever had before. We loved it so much that we finished it off the day after our wedding! Melissa was also a pleasure to work with. We had a last-minute change in the guest count, and she was incredibly accommodating. Her flexibility and attention to detail made our special day even more memorable. Thank you for the fantastic service and delicious cake!

Melissa was incredible and very easy to get in touch with and was able yo provide me and my guests with my dream cake and cupcakes

Melissa was able to give me my dream white heart shaped cake that was timeless and classic. It also tasted so incredible. I would also like to add that the three flavors of cupcakes that we got for our guests were also delicious. There was not a single cupcake left out of the 200. Everyone could not stop raving about them. I highly recommend Melissa to make anything you need cake related for your wedding!

Perfect wedding cake!

We loved our wedding cake from MJB cakes! Not only did Melissa create the prettiest cake, but it tasted SO GOOD! We had 2 flavors (carrot cake and cookies and cream) and it was perfect! We also had some of the mini desserts, which were so yummy as well! Melissa was very helpful when emailing and friendly too! Already can't wait to get a little cake for our 1 year anniversary!

Wedding Cake of Our Dreams!

My husband and I are so happy that we had the pleasure of working with Melissa, of MJB Cakes for our wedding. We were drawn to her beautiful cakes and knew we had to have her a part of our special day. We scheduled a pick-up cake tasting with her, and all of her flavors were SO good it was difficult to make a choice (she does offer different flavored tiers.) Ultimately, we chose strawberry and cream, which was a total hit at our wedding! We sent her an inspiration photo of what we would like our cake to look like, and Melissa delivered exactly what we asked for! Our cake was so stunning and absolutely delicious. Incredible Ventura County Baker!

MJB Cakes is an amazing baker! We got connected to Melissa through family and friends - highly recommend - who use her services all the time for kids birthdays, weddings, and other parties. She created the dessert table and lemon cake for our spring 2023 wedding in Camarillo, CA, and did the best job. We got so many complements from our guests about her amazing baking. Melissa was also incredibly communicative and helpful in the planning process, and even went off-menu to help us create some amazing Italian wedding cookies to honor our shared Italian heritage. What a treat to have Melissa's incredible desserts for the big day - we wish we could have her desserts everyday!

Looks and Tastes Amazing!

Melissa made the most beautiful wedding cake for us! I sent her an inspiration photo and we worked together to downsize and re-scale it all. I specifically wanted sugar flowers and the ones she made turned out so gorgeous. Melissa is extremely talented and we had so many guests compliment us on how delicious her carrot cake is! She was very flexible when our guest count went down by over 70 people, and allowed us to remove two of the sheet cakes. We also loved that she let us have a different flavor for every tier! She was very easy to work with and her prices are competitive, especially when compared to some of the larger bakeries in the LA area.

Cancel your other cake tastings! She’s the one!

Melissa was beyond remarkable! Her cake was moist! Even days later after the wedding! From the day of our tasting to the day of the wedding we were in constant contact. She upholds her professionalism and is an amazing baker. After our tasting we actually canceled our other tastings because we knew that she had to make our cake. Very affordable pricing and well worth it for the cake she made us. I fell in love with how she recreated the photo I found. If you’re looking for a moist and affordable cake, Melissa is your girl to do exactly that!

MJB Cakes not only does cakes but also does dessert tables from French macaroons to peanut butter cup bars. ALL Amazing. Everything I expected and more!

The cake not only tasted amazing, but the process working with Melissa was so easy and professional. She arrived on time and delivered exactly what we wanted. I couldn't have asked for anything better! During your wedding, you want everything to flow smoothly and she did just that! She arrived on time and decorated the cake quickly! The cake tasting was also amazing! We had so much cake at the end that we were able to share it with family :)

Melissa from MJB Cakes is so amazing! She was so easy to work with and made the whole process of choosing a cake, flavors, desserts, etc so smooth! She offers to mail flavors for her busy brides or you can do a traditional tasting! I kept changing my mind of the flavors and things I wanted to add and Melissa had no problem helping me every step of the way! Come wedding day, she put together the most stunning dessert bar I could have imagined and everyone at our wedding raved about how delicious the desserts were! I would 100% recommend MJB Cakes for your wedding!!

Melissa at MJB cakes is an absolute gem! She is extremely friendly, helpful and a very talented baker. I was so lucky to have her as a part of our special day. We decided to have cupcakes and a small cutting cake. I had some visions of how I wanted our cake to look (as a surprise to the groom-it looked like a tree stump) and she gave her professional input on what would look and taste the best and she was SPOT on!!!! Our cake was absolutely amazing and the groom was very pleased. She was flexible with increasing our order last minute and her pricing is very reasonable and affordable.
I have had several people since the wedding comment on how tasty and delicious our cupcakes were and have asked where to get them. :)
Needless to say we were very pleased with our choice to go with Melissa and would choose her again in a heartbeat!!!! XOXO-

Melissa was referred to me by a friend who used her for her daughter's wedding and we are so thankful that we found her. She was always very prompt responding to my emails, texts and calls... My daughter is very particular and had a specific vision for her wedding dessert bar & Melissa fulfilled all her expectations and more! Our tasting with Melissa was my husband and my daughter's fiance at the time favorite part of the wedding planning, everything was delicious! I appreciated Melissa's help with the number of desserts we would need based on our guest list for my daughter's wedding. She was right on with her numbers, we had very few leftovers & they were finished off the next day, nothing got wasted. I'm still hearing how amazing all the desserts were at my daughter's wedding!! Lastly, Melissa went above and beyond the day of the wedding when our florist failed to deliver the floral arrangements that Melissa was going to use to finish the cake when setting up our dessert bar. She assured me not to worry & that she would use parts from some of the centerpieces to finish decorating the cake... And I did exactly as Melissa instructed & didn't worry, I was confident that she would figure it all out & she did, no one knew the difference! Thank you, Melissa, for helping make our daughter's wedding day the best day ever!

Where to begin... As if planning a wedding wasn't stressful enough, due to a family emergency my husband and I were put in a position where we had to relocate from living on Maui and postpone our initial wedding, and eventually settled on a quick wedding around Thanksgiving. I was referred to Melissa by a coworker (thanks Mary!) and I am so glad! With only a few weeks out from our wedding, we ended up meeting and doing a tasting. Melissa was able to provide the most awesome combinations to try, and I felt she really wanted to ensure that we were really getting what we wanted. Something that definitely stood out about Melissa was how thoughtful she is. During our initial conversation, I had expressed that something that was important to be about the initial wedding we were planning was that I was going to have French macarons . It may sound silly, but I felt that it was going to be such a great touch to our dessert bar. Upon coming to our tasting, we had discovered that Melissa had made samples of French macarons to try, and they were amazing! Everything that she prepared on our special day was beyond delicious, and to this day everyone still compliments our assortment of desserts. I'm even having a grand opening for my business and friends and family are asking that I have treats made by her. Thanks Melissa!

Melissa was an absolute pleasure to work with! We met her by chance right after we got engaged and after looking through her Instagram page, we loved the style of her cakes. She let us sample quite a few flavor combinations which were all delicious. We went with the vanilla with vanilla bean buttercream and fresh strawberries. Melissa is so incredibly talented and so wonderful to work with. My husband and I met with multiple bakeries in our search for the perfect person to make our wedding cake and dessert bar, but truly none of them could match up to MJB Cakes! Melissa was kind, prompt, professional and attentive when we me with her and throughout the entire planning process. The tasting was amazing and had many delicious cake, filling and frosting options to choose from. My husband loved the tasting so much, he begged for more up until the wedding. We had so many compliments on the dessert bar/cake (three layers of different incredible flavors) from guests and we even made sure to snag some goodies to set aside for our honeymoon flight to enjoy the next day. We had Melissa make our rehearsal cake and wedding cake. She said we may have extra cake due to some guest cancellations. I was looking forward to having an extra piece after the wedding, but there was not an extra piece of cake anywhere. The guests loved the cake so much!!! I wanted an unusual wedding cake and Melissa made it!!! She is an artist. My guests said it was the best cake they ever had!!!! Melissa is easy to work with as well. My husband and I loved her cake so much, we have been tempted to break into our top tier that we are saving for our one year anniversary ....and we got married two weeks ago...

Melissa was such a pleasure to work with. I had very specific ideas of what I wanted for the cake and she delivered it perfectly. She was very prompt in her responses to me (I had a lot of questions) and accommodated us during our tasting by meeting us half way (we live in LA). One day before my wedding my florist said she could no longer place the flowers on my cake. I asked Melissa if she could take care of it and was more than willing . The cake was not only amazing (white cake with berries and cream cheese frosting) but very reasonably priced. I checked out other bakers and they were double the price! She also has a good array of cake stands for rent that'll fit with your wedding look. Thanks Melissa!

Book Melissa with MJB Cakes ASAP!!! Melissa was so wonderful to work. Not only was she so accommodating, friendly, and a joy to work with, her desserts are spectacular! I wanted to surprise my groom with a Patriots' inspired Groom's Cake, which was perfection! It was hands down the best carrot cake we've ever tasted. We also did a dessert bar and everything was delicious. I've never been to a wedding where guests actually talk about the dessert even in the midst of dancing, but we had so many friends and family coming up to us to rave about the desserts! MJB Cakes is simply the best!

Honestly the best wedding cake I have ever eaten. I should have ordered two slices for every guest. We had the In n Out burger truck come to the Bel Air Bay Club at the end of the night and SURPRISINGLY, even thought there was scrumptious food everywhere, our guests were looking for more cake before they went outside to have the burgers. It was that good.

Melissa was great to work with. She was always available to get in touch with via email when I had any questions. When my husband and I met with her to decide on the cake flavor we were to have at our wedding she was very helpful and brought many varieties so we could try everything. Melissa and MJB cakes are amazing. We tasted a ton of cakes and cupcakes and the MJB vanilla with vanilla beat out everyone else's collection by far. They were moist and delicious and were exactly what we wanted! Not to mention that the service and communications were well above par. Melissa is the best! Reliable, always responded quickly, even added to my order pretty last minute when I had additional guest show up. She delivers to the venue for a small fee. I just gave her a pic of what I wanted and she created it; our naked cake with vanilla, cream cheese and strawberries was light and moist as promised, perfect for a warm summer night. Everyone loved it.

Melissa created an absolutely beautiful and delicious wedding cake for us! I actually found a picture of a cake that I loved and I wanted pretty much the same thing for our cake. Melissa was able to create exactly what I was looking for and not only was it beautiful, but it was very tasty (we got a ton of compliments from our guests)!

I did a lot of research and felt that Melissa's pricing was very reasonable. She was extremely professional and very easy to work with. I couldn't recommend her more! If you are looking for a delicious, beautiful cake with a vendor who is very easy to work with, go with MJB cakes!

Easy to communicate with fast responses . Melissa had no problem bringing the samples to us. We went with the vanilla bean and Oreo for the bottom layer. I was an amazing cake.

My husband and I found Melissa through our florist and it was the best recommendation we got. We scheduled a tasting with her and she literally brought us 20 different cupcake flavors to try. We devoured them all, they were amazing! My husband is really picky when it comes to frostings and Melissa's frosting is the only one he likes. My family can't stop talking about her peanut butter and jelly cupcake and the berry shortcake we had at our wedding was equally delicious. She was so easy to work with and was able to give us exactly the wedding cake we wanted. She is so talented and can create any wedding cake you want. Not to mention the added bonus that she had vintage cake stands for us to rent for the wedding; one less hassle for us to deal with on our own. Thank you so much Melissa for everything!

Melissa made a cupcake tower for my daughter's wedding that was beautiful as well as delicious. She also made the cupcakes for her bridal shower and my husband's surprise birthday party. And...now she is making the cake and cupcakes for my daughter's baby shower. When guests hear that the cakes are MJB Cakes, they forget their diets and indulge. That's how good they are--they can break the most committed dieter in less than one mouthful! I look forward to using Melissa for all of our family's life events celebrations.

I can't say enough amazing things about Melissa and MJB Cakes! She created the most gorgeous cupcake tower for our wedding and guests were raving about it from the moment they walked in. Not only did it look beautiful, but each cupcake was declared the best that anyone had ever had. Melissa was responsive, easy to work with, and definitely listens to what the couple wants. Usually while reviewing things, I never feel justified to give 5 stars to every single category.. I feel like "wow that's excessive, no one is that good"... but this.. I would rate 100 starts for each Category if I could, THAT is how amazing my experience with MJB cakes was.
SUPER fast email responses right from the start, This is super important, especially when planning a wedding.. no bride wants to wait around for anything.
She made me about a dozen cupcakes of different flavors and frosting combos, this part was phenomenal, I was able to bring them home, where my fiance and I could taste them together,since his schedule wasn't going to allow him to take time off during the day to eat some cake. I showed her pictures of cakes I liked, and she made me the prettiest cake of all! Now....I may be biased because it was my own wedding, but not only was it the most freakin' gorgeous cake I had ever seen.. but it was BY FAR the best tasting wedding cake I have EVER had.. and I have been to a LOT of weddings.. I've gotten used to the whole dry.. stale.. ikky frosting cakes.., and to be honest... I just thought that's how wedding cakes came.. NOT HERE. . guests at my wedding STILL bring up how good the cake was! I kept the top layer frozen for a year... and it was even delicious after sitting in my garage freezer for a year.

Love, love, love Melissa! She was the easiest part of the whole planning process. She is so sweet, and it was definitely a pleasure to work with her. I was already set on what I wanted for my cake from the start, but she definitely put her creative touch on it while working within my budget. You can tell she loves what she does. I have had the extreme pleasure of knowing Melissa for over 15 years and she has constantly been my "go-to" baker for all events as well as my #1 recommended referral to anyone needing baked goods. She provided the desserts at my wedding and they were amazing. I received (and continue to receive) numerous compliments on the look and taste of the sweets she made for my dessert bar. When we were looking for someone to do our wedding cake it was a no brainer to go with Melissa! I had used her for my bridal shower to make cup cakes and they were not only beautiful but extremely delicious! My guests and I could not get enough of them! Her professionalism was unbelievable. She met with me a few times to go over exactly what I wanted for the wedding. I wanted a cupcake tier with a cake on top. She took the time to go over pictures of ideas I had found and helped me create the perfect tier of cupcakes. She shared pictures and ideas of weddings she had done before where the couple used cup cakes .She didn't make me feel stupid for any questions I asked and when she came over to do our tasting she brought over a generous amount of the different types of cup cakes. Choosing a few different types was hard because they were all sooooo delicious! We went ahead and chose 3 different types. She helped me decide on colors of frosting to go with my theme and on the amount of cupcakes to order in ratio to my guests. She doesn't try to up sell or have you pay for items that are not necessary. Her prices are super fair. She kept in contact with me up to my wedding date. She answered any questions I had through email or phone in a prompt and timely manner. She came to set up on my wedding day exactly when she said she would and she created the table exactly how she said she would but better! She worked well with my florist to make the perfect set up ( I had flowers on my cake table). I loved working with Melissa. Not only did she commit to her every word but the cake / cupcakes were delicious. I have used her for other events and will continue to do so when I need any type of desserts. I recommended her to anyone who is having an event- wedding, shower, birthday, etc!! You will not be disappointed. All of my friends use her now for events and have been super happy and pleased with what they order!

I have known Melissa for over 20 years and the best word to describe her in a nutshell would be perfectionist! She is a true perfectionist and it shows through her work. Five years ago I presented her with a photo of a cake I found in a bridal magazine so that she could recreate it for my wedding day and her work far exceeded my expectations! My cake was covered in a variety of small edible pearls that she hand painted and placed all around my cake creating a cascade design. Everything she makes is absolutely perfect because of her extraordinary attention to detail and drive to create high-quality cakes and other baked goods! I absolutely LOVE her! xoxo

I used MJB Cakes for a surprise cake for my wife. When dealing with Melissa she did everything in her power to help me out and was willing to do what she could in regards to delivery and meeting up so that my wife wouldn't know. The customer care and dedication is top notch and you can tell that she truly loves making people smile and be happy through her creations.

In saying all that the cakes were TO DIE FOR. I left the flavor choices up to her and she did not disappoint. Two cakes I had done were in the shape of wine bottles. One bottle she made to look like a red wine bottle and the filling was raspberry with a white cake and was amazing. The second bottle was a white wine bottle and the cake was red velvet with cream cheese filling, again amazing.

Melissa made us the most beautiful Wedding Cake. I had a picture of what we wanted, and she made a cake that looked even more beautiful than what we had hoped for! Her attention to detail is phenomenal and she is very responsive to any questions you might have along the way. Not to mention- the cakes she makes are SOOOOOOO yummy! We had Devils Chocolate Cake for our wedding, with Cream Cheese Frosting, and our guests are still talking about how delicious it was! She also did the cupcakes for my wedding Shower- a lot of different flavors- and they all tasted amazing, and again were presented beautifully at my event and were a big hit with everyone! Melissa is very professional to work with, reasonably priced and has gone far above and beyond our expectations on everything we've had her make us!

If you don't choose Melissa for your wedding cake/dessert needs then you don't know what your missing. Melissa did my wedding in 2011 and blew everyone out of the water with her delicious treats still to this day I still have ppl commenting on the desserts. She made everything from cake pops,mello pops,brownies,cookies,etc. She nailed it. So much so I went back to her in 2013 to recreate my in-laws wedding cake from the 60's and again she did an amazing job. I will continue to use her for all my dessert needs.

I was referred to Melissa by my girlfriend who used MJP cakes for her Wedding. I specifically remember tasting the Banana Nut cream cake at her Wedding, thinking “OMG! Best cake ever!” With no hesitation I knew I wanted her to make my Wedding cake in months to come 
I set up a day to meet Melissa, we have an array of samples to try. Knowing I wanted the Banana nut, but was torn on others, we opted for a 4 tiered cake (each tier a different flavor)

I goggled pictures of what style of cake I wanted and with no hesitation Melissa said “Done!”

The day of my Wedding I was SO amazed how Melissa created my dream, my vision , even with extra touches to match the colors of my Wedding

The cake was the talk days after, not only for it “to die for taste”, she created something I wanted down to the shells added, flowers, it was absolutely AMAZING!

Melissa was such a please to work with!! My wedding planner suggested her and after meeting her at the tasting I couldn't imagine having anyone else do our cake! The cakes were DELICIOUS and she perfectly replicated the picture I brought in. She even accommodated my last minute grooms cake request! We chose the red velvet and s'mores flavores and everyone raved about both! Melissa was also incredibly professional and responded to all my emails quickly! Melissa was truly amazing to work with! From the second we had our tasting, we were hooked. Melissa made sure that she gave us exactly what we wanted for our wedding. We had a small cake for cutting, cupcakes, and a cookie bar...all of which Melissa baked and the guests loved! I have passed her name along to everyone I know for any event possible! Choosing Melissa as one of our vendors was one of the easiest decisions we made during our wedding process. We met with several other cake vendors but they always seemed to be missing something. Melissa was the whole package. She is very professional but fun, her prices are competitive and most importantly her cakes are very delicious. Our guests were very pleased with the cake as well. I hope to have another event in the future so I can order another cake and would recommend her to anyone having a wedding or any event that needed yummy desserts.

Melissa was not only the maid of honor in my wedding but also made our wedding cake and cupcakes while on the road. She did a beautiful job and to this day people are always talking about how much fun they had at our wedding and how much they loved our cupcakes. I only wished she lived closer so I could come up with reasons for her to make cakes for us. Amazing!

Melissa made my husband and my wedding cake and not only was it beautiful and what exactly what we were looking for but it was also delicious! We had each layer a different flavor and all of the layers were delicious! Melissa was even able to make a vegan layer for my husband since he is lactose intolerant. It was delicious and the first layer to be gone! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and delicious wedding cake!

Extremely talented!

Melissa is extremely talented! I love her flavors and her designs! The only feedback I have is that her responsiveness isn't always great, but she always got back to me in the end. My guests wouldn't shut up about how great the dessert bar was and my husband and I missed out on a few desserts on our wedding night because the guests went back for second and thirds! Her pricing was fair and her talent is undeniable! I would hire her again for any future events that involve cake and desserts!

The perfect wedding cake!

MJB Cakes was so wonderful to work with! We found her through our venue and then did a tasting. After the tasting we literally craved the cake she made it tasted so good we knew she would be perfect. She made us a delicious cake for our wedding and worked to make some personal adjustments near the end. would definitely reccomend!
