Michelle was amazing and easy to work with from day one. We tried several bakeries before finding her…they either charged an arm and a leg to deliver to our venue or the cake tasted horrible. Not only did her cake taste great, but she was reasonably priced as well. She also worked with us to have our cake delivered to our caterer to save us on being charged a delivery fee twice (our caterer was 5 minutes away from her shop). I wanted a smaller version of a cake I found online and she replicated it beautifully. Would definitely recommend her for your event!

Delicious cake

Yummy Amaretto Wedding Cake
This bakery was so helpful and kind during our consultation, that I fell in love with their cakes on 1st bite. We had an amaretto cake without nuts made (I had a little cousin that was allergic) and it was sooooo beautiful and yummy that we barely had a few slices besides the topper to take home. The best thing about our 1 year anniversary is that they with a week’s notice of our 1 yr anniversary, they made us a fresh anniversary cake FREE! I just love the personal touch. They also delivered!

My Wedding Day
My future wife and I met Michelle months before our wedding day. We were very impressed with her presentation of the cake tasting and the one-on-one time that she had committed to us that day. I was a bit concerned when I had not received any type of communication 1 month out...1 week out. My Florist and other services had communicated even down to an hour prior to the agreed upon timeline. However, there can never be any greater means of communication than a person who is true to his or her word. My contact with Michelle had stated that my cake would be delivered no later than a couple of hours before the start of the wedding. My contract also stated that the 3- layered cake would be of the flavors that we had chosen during our meeting with Michelle. What the contract did not include is that I would need to brace myself as I came downstairs from the bridal suite that morning; on the way down to the lower-level of our town home to where I would see my bride, family, and friends. The contract left out these words that should have been enlarged: exquisite breathtaking masterpiece delicately crafted with layers and layers of deliciousness.

Beautiful & Very Delicious Cake!
Michelle’s Cakes created a stunning and absolutely delicious cake for our July wedding in Washington D.C.! We found Michelle’s Cakes on Instagram after seeing that she had done a cake for another couple at the City Club of Washington. Many cake vendors do not deliver to D.C., so Michelle was the only cake vendor we even considered for our wedding as we knew she was confident in delivering cakes in the city. During our tasting, Michelle sat down with us and went over our options in regards to flavors and fillings and even created a sample cake using Styrofoam layers to show us sizing and height which we really appreciated. She was very accommodating with several changes we made as our wedding grew closer and was very fast in communicating with us. On the day of the wedding, Michelle flawlessly delivered the cake to our reception venue. We were completely blown away with it as it exceeded our vision and expectations! On top of all that, the cake itself was incredibly delicious and flavorful and our guests enjoyed the 4 different flavors we had for each layer of the cake. Michelle’s talent and creativity is unmatched and her attention to detail and perfection made our dream wedding cake possible! She is the only wedding cake vendor you need to look at in the DMV area!

Which of course was my top layer and going home with me after the wedding. Michelle took my vision and brought it to life. They process was very seamless and she educated me and walked me through each step. We had the opportunity to taste a variety of cakes and fillings and create our own pairings and also tried the classic flavors. Michelle and Nikki could not have been lovelier or easier to work with. From the beginning, they asked exactly the right questions and we knew we were in great hands and that everything would run smoothly. We had an idea of what we wanted, but weren't sure how to execute it. Michelle and Nikki designed the perfect cake that fit the decor/feel of our wedding better than we could have imagined. We got so many compliments on its appearance, but even more on how delicious it was. Delivery and setup were seamless, and they worked with other vendors who weren't as organized to help our day run even more smoothly. To say my husband and I were happy with our wedding cakes would be a total and complete understatement. Not only were our wedding and groom’s cakes gorgeous to look at, but they were delicious to eat as well! The Best Ever
I've been going to Michelle for all of my events since 2016, and all I can say is 5 stars is not enough. My second event I had, I had to get brochures to lay out on the dessert table because so many people commented and wanted her information. Every time I visit Michelle cakes, I extend my dessert list by adding more and more to my tab. I've referred at least 3 people so far that has used her to my knowledge. If I had to describe the business in 3 words it'll be as follows: Passionate, Creativity & Exquisite. You describe your image and she'll make exactly what you want but BETTER! I haven't searched for another team since I met Michelle's.

I have used Michelle's cakes in the past for smaller parties and when I contacted her about my wedding she jumped right on board and took care of all the minor details.... Super flexible and really high quality work. Let us return the rentals almost over a week after the wedding which was plenty of time for us to relax and not rush to tie up loose ends. Only hiccup was there was some kind of communication error and our contract was cancelled but that was quickly resolved the next day.

I tried a number of bakeries (had numerous tastings) before I found Michelle's Cakes. Once I tasted her cakes I knew my search was over. Her cakes melted in my mouth. My guests' taste buds were just as pleased when they tasted my cake at the wedding reception. It was delicious and absolutely beautiful! Michelle was a joy to work with, a true professional. She created exactly what I had been dreaming about and her prices are very affordable too. I highly recommend using her for your wedding cake.

I had my baby shower and my baby's 1st Birthday cake ordered from them and both of the time my guests and I were blown away at how beautiful and delicious both of the cakes were. I am extremely picky when it comes to entertaining family and friends and always pay a lot of attention to details. In my very honest opinion, Michelle's Cakes unbeatably met all of my expectations and beyond. I had over the top expectations and a not very big budget but they worked with me to make the cake affordable without compromising the quality and the "Wow" factor.

Michelle's Cakes made my 2 tier cake and various cupcakes for my wedding day. They were exactly what I asked for and so delicious. No, like REALLY good. Before my event, I did a tasting in the shop and it was so cute and she was very accommodating and friendly. The day of, the cake was perfect, and the cupcakes were very professional looking and displayed nicely. We also rented a cupcake stand from her, which was helpful. Can't wait to eat my anniversary cake!

Michelle's Cakes are SO delicious. My mother in law set us up a tasting after being recommended to Michelle's by friends. We had such a hard time deciding on our 3 tier cake flavors because everything tasted so good. We decided on strawberry shortcake, lemon with raspberry filling, and white cake on top. We brought inspiration on the type of decoration we wanted for the cake and she nailed it. We got sugar flowers because we wanted to admire her work and not take the easy way out with fresh flowers. The detail work on the sugar flowers were absolutely amazing. We are a little sad our guests didn't get to see them up close besides pictures. We had a outdoor late May wedding and kept the cake inside until it was time to cut to keep it fresh and bugs away. Since our wedding we have moved halfway across the country and had our 1 year anniversary cake mailed overnight to us on dry ice. It worked out perfectly and tasted delicious!! My mother in law surprised us and got sugar flowers made to replicate our wedding cake. It was amazing to see them up close. If you have the choice I would let her do whatever she wants. She had a vision and went with it and it came out awesome.

I cannot thank Michelle's Cakes enough for the cake they built for our daughter's Sweet 16! The cake itself, as far as flavor, moistness, and presentation was AWESOME!!! The design, one which my daughter picked, was done beautifully and exceeded our expectations. Once you do business with this vendor, there's no going back to any other. First off, the cake was absolutely amazing and fulfilled every wish I ever had for my wedding cake. The taste was to die for and had me hoping that there would be some left over for us to snack on (sadly that was not the case since all of my guests felt the same way! lol) They were an absolute pleasure to work with and so helpful in making my decisions on the size, flavors, and the final look of the cake. We received so many compliments that evening and I was sure to tell everyone of my new "find" in bakeries. Michelle even went the extra mile of special ordering fresh flowers to adorn my cake to give it that "rustic, romantic" appeal. I have continued to use them after my wedding as my "go to" for all events that require a special cake. I've even stopped in just to grab a cupcake or two to get our own fix of delicious sweetness. They are extremely affordable and offer a cake tasting with so many different options it is almost unbelievable. I am so happy to have found them in Southern Maryland.

I got married this weekend and my cake was FABULOUS! Michelle created such a beautiful, delicious and moist cake for us. I am still getting compliments from my guests about how good the cake was. She even made us a freezer cake to keep for our first anniversary, but it's so good I can't stop nibbling on it. So needless to say I don't think it is going to last until our first anniversary because I am sure it will be eaten before the end of this week. My husband's Best Man went crazy after tasting our wedding cake. He talked about it the rest of the night and made several appointments to visit the store fron for more cake. We had a tri level cake: orange, starwberry, and chocolate /vanilla. Every flavor was perfectly sweetened and moistness. For our consultation we laughed and joked, she made sure we were happy with our decision, both me and my husband. Her prices were reasonable and she offers a payment plan. Most of all, the cake was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved it. If you like bananas, her banana foster is grand. I had gum-paste orchids on my cake. I forgot to bring a swatch of my colors so, knowing my colors were purple and silver, she emailed me pictures of purple orchids. Those orchids weren't really the color purple that I had in mind so we exchanged emails regarding the specific color purple. I told her I wanted a darker color, more towards black/purple, she said okay, so I was hoping she would get that color right. The day of my wedding, I saw my cake, it was beautifully crafted and the purple color was spot on!!! I was so pleased with the results and her level of understanding what I wanted. Michelle's Cakes is the place to be!!!!

I stumbled upon Michelle's cakes while looking at a ISO Facebook post and noticed that they were small business and a veteran family! After sampling their cupcakes, I knew this was the place I wanted to do my wedding cake. The cake tasting was professionally set up, the samples were moist, flavorful and delicious. I found Michelle’s cake through our venue recommended vendors. Our guest list was under 25 so we did have to make time on our wedding day to pick it up rather than have it delivered (just to keep in mind for small guest count). Our cake was very small 8”on the bottom 5” on top so it really was no stress moving it from the shop to venue. Michelle typically takes about 24-48 hours to respond via email and the pricing was great for my budget for a 2 tier i paid $250 you can use zelle as well. I chose red velvet and it tasted amazing everyone loved it. I would recommend checking her out for any event.

Great Cake, some snafus
The cake Michelle provided was amazing. It tasted wonderful and has been probably the best wedding cake I have ever had. I'm super glad it was at my wedding. We had some scheduling snafus at first, then some miscommunications about what we wanted, but it all worked itself out in the end. I would definitely recommend, but call ahead and work through early, they're pretty busy, and with the cake they make, it is easy to see why.
