We really enjoyed having Michael as our officiant. We wanted something simple, yet unique, and we didn’t really know where to start. He offers fully customized ceremonies, but for my husband and me, his simple ceremony options were perfect. We were able to insert verses and poetry that had meaning to us, and we knew that everything would still flow nicely. Michael was very easy to work with and we’d recommend him to anyone looking for an officiant. -

We wanted a secular handfasting, Michael has experience in this and provided templates for various ceremonies so we could create one uniquely ours. After the ceremony we even had guests asking for his info so they can use him in the future. He’s worth hiring! -

Michael Rye was the most perfect officiant! He is incredibly friendly, personable, and made everyone feel so comfortable! Many of our guests even thought he was a family friend. His amazing Australian accent adds such a unique and memorable touch, elevating the entire ceremony. Michael was also extremely knowledgeable and informative about the marriage license process, making everything seamless and stress-free from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant and would highly recommend him to any couple looking for someone who will make their wedding truly unforgettable! -

Best Officiant
Couldn't have asked for better service. Even answered questions I had after the wedding and responded very fast. Was very patient with us and knew exactly what he was doing at every step of the way. Talked us through the whole process of how the ceremony was going to go and it ran more the smooth!
So glad we chose Michael to be our officiant. He did not disappoint. -

I absolutely loved working with Michael. He was THE BEST. In fact, I am grateful our original officiant feel through because we never would have found Michael if we hadn't had to search for a new officiant a few months prior to our wedding. He was easy to talk to, a good listener, and made the ceremony feel warm and personal.
I have zero reservations about referring Michael to anyone and everyone who might be looking for an officiant in the DMV.

Michael was SO wonderful to work with. TL;DR: He is professional, willing to customize his style to fit yours, very fairly priced and all around just an incredible human being.
He initially sent some examples of simple ceremonies after our initial meeting and then allowed me to create a custom ceremony using bits and pieces from those existing scripts. On the day of our wedding, he showed up right on time and even gave me some great advice and tips before we walked out to start the ceremony based on all of his experience.
At the start of our ceremony, he quipped a funny remark to get us to hold hands, which was awesome, because I hadn't thought about that and after handing my bouquet to my MOH, I suddenly had a Ricky Bobby moment of "I'm not sure what to do with my hands right now." So that was very appreciated. He stuck very closely to the script, only ad-libbing a few funny comments here and there after confirming with us first that it would be okay, and knowing we are 'keep a sense of humor in all things' people.
At the end of the ceremony and right after he said you may kiss the bride, he stepped out of the way immediately so we could have some photos of just us with our alter and scenery, which was so thoughtful. Speaking of thoughtful, I had handed him my vows book after we read them during the ceremony, then I forgot about it, and he was kind enough to mail it to me a few weeks later.
You can't go wrong with Michael. If you're looking for professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and someone who will make sure the ceremony is everything you dreamed of, he's your guy, look no further. 10/10! -

We loved Michael!
Michael was absolutely wonderful. When we first reached out to him, he responded right away. We met with him virtually and his enthusiasm and reasoning why he became an officiant won us over. He was open to doing anything we wanted for our ceremony and was helpful along the way. During the ceremony, we even had a little mishap - unrelated to Michael - and he handled it better than we could have asked for. He gave us wonderful assurance and we knew our ceremony would be exactly what we wanted with his expertise. We were so lucky to find him. -

Michael was a wonderful officiant! He was always available to answer any questions about our ceremony in the months leading up to our wedding. When our big day arrived Michael gave a beautiful ceremony that all of our guests enjoyed and was so special to me and my husband! -

Best Officiant Ever!
When our original officiant told us that he wouldn’t be able to make it to officiate our wedding, my stress level and blood pressure went through the roof. I was already scrambling to try and get everything squared away and the one big puzzle piece just so happened to break off :( My search for an officiant was moved to the top of the priority list above all else since my wedding was literally less than a month and a half away. I was turned down by many due to the timeline, scheduling availability, distance to venue, etc. And then finally I heard from Michael and he said YES! And thank goodness because he was the best YES we could have received. He was well receptive of what type of ceremony we were looking for and catered to everything we wanted and needed for our ceremony. He answered any and all questions that we had and just made sure that everything would be taken care of…and everything was, from beginning to end. He is professional, lively, communicative, the entire package! Best Officiant Ever! -

Great experience with Michael Rye
Michael was one of several officiants we interviewed and he was the most warm and courteous of them all. He is genuinely funny but knows when to apply humor. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and would absolutely recommend him to other couples. He had the exact right gravitas but with a light touch. 10/10 -

Michael is a caring and consummate professional. He speaks beautifully and with an Australian accent - who doesn't love that? All joking aside, Michael worked with my husband and I to create our very own, personalized ceremony which consisted of our own vows and pieces of other ceremonies that he has on file to share with couples. It was just beautiful. Honestly, I don't feel our ceremony could have been more perfect. It was short, yet heartfelt and moving. Veena Sent on 07/29/2018I had so many people come up to me at the wedding and ask me how we found Michael - because he was so amazing! He was our wedding officiant as well as the dance teacher for our first dance. On the dancing, he worked with us on steps and choreography prior to the wedding, and he was so positive we always felt we were doing a good job and progressing. He was great as our officiant - serious yet funny when the occasion demanded and with a great voice that could be heard by all. Michael is reliable and responsible - always showing up early for dance classes and the wedding, as well as just plain fun! We would use his services again in a heartbeat.

Michael officiated our December 2023 wedding and did a great job. He was professional, easy to work with, and you could tell he has a lot of experience. We provided him a custom script using his templates and he was receptive to our changes. Overall we were happy with his work and would recommend him. The only thing that irked us a bit was that we had provided our final payment about a month in advance and he either forgot or didn't track it so right after our wedding ceremony he was tracking my husband and I down and asking for payment. We were still reeling from our ceremony and it was a bit embarrassing to be told "We owed him" when we didn't. But it was an honest mistake and like I said, our overall experience was positive. -

Michael Rye was an excellent officiant for our wedding! He was very enthusiastic and entertaining and our guests were talking about how much they enjoyed the ceremony because of him for days after the wedding! Would definitely recommend him to anyone getting married.
