We feel so lucky to have worked with Bethany for our engagement photos and wedding day photos. Bethany is extremely professional and caters to your desires for your special day. She brings a calming presence to an often stressful process of wedding planning and on the actual wedding day. She is genuinely kind, funny, creative, and talented, and we trusted her ENTIRELY to capture our day. As the bride and groom, we had a million thoughts going through our heads on the big day, but we never, ever worried about our photos. Where to start... Bethany is simply AMAZING! From the moment that we talked to Bethany, we had this instant connection. We didn't even want to talk to any other photographer, we knew she was the one. And we were completely right: Bethany did our engagement photoshoot and she went all over Chicago with us, having fun, making us laugh, making us enjoy each other and also connect with her as a person.
Bethany is personal, friendly, smart, professional, warm, and everything that you would ever want from someone to capture such special moments from your life. Bethany's result from the engagement photoshoot were amazing, ensuring that we had made the right decision.
For the wedding, we had so many families involved in our pictures, that we gave Bethany a LONG list (70+ pictures) that we wanted to take. Bethany took the challenge and not only she delivered it, but we had even time to spare to take pictures of just the two of us. That just shows how efficient, organized, professional, and amazing she is. She knew how those pictures mattered to us because of how many families were involved in this day, and she made sure to capture all of those moments.
Bethany already shared a preview of the pictures of the big day. The pictures are amazing, and I can't wait to see the final result. More important than the product itself, I gained a new friend, because that is just who Bethany is, a beautiful human being, with a great eye to capture beautiful moments.
I can't wait to celebrate more times with Maypole Studios! -

If you don't hire Bethany as your wedding photographer, it's truly your loss. She was referred to us by friends, and I knew as soon as we met her she would be a great fit. My husband and I are not super comfortable in front of the camera, and the thought of engagement photos made us cringe - but we're SO happy we took her up on the engagement shots already included in our package, if for no other reason than to meet her and get comfortable with each other before the big day. Bethany is warm, kind, down to earth, and brings a calming energy to what can be an otherwise chaotic environment -- not to mention, she is *extraordinarily* talented. She captured the magic of our wedding day, and the personalities of those closest to us. Friends and family have raved about how great she was onsite, and the photos themselves are proof enough. She asked thoughtful questions throughout the planning process, came to our final walk-through to meet our vendors and to work out any kinks, and delivered our photos in under a month (!). We love her. You'll love her. Hire her. And we will definitely be calling her for any future photography needs for life's big moments. -

I am so happy we hired Bethany for our Engagement and Wedding photos. Before finding her, I spent a long time looking at photographer portfolios and thought that so many of the poses looked cheesy and staged. Not with Bethany. She captured us looking like real people, with natural facial expressions and body language. For our Engagement photos, she knew exactly where to take us around downtown Chicago for the perfect shots. We had a ton of fun too! For our Wedding in December 2022, she braved the cold to get outside shots of us by the Wrigley Building and the river (go big or go home!) which came out absolutely beautiful. She also captured our first look incredibly well - looking at the picture takes me back to the moment. To sum it up, Bethany is an incredibly kind, calm, funny, and highly skilled photographer who exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend her! -

I am so unbelievably happy we hired Bethany and Maypole Studios.
She is an absolute rock star in the lead up to the event. Very prompt in responses and she took detailed notes on both what we wanted in photos, how we wanted to spend the time, and landmines to avoid (family drama, awkward pairings, things of that nature). She gave great advice about how to utilize time to best get what we wanted, and all of it paid off.
Day of she almost functioned as a coordinator. Bethany is remarkably efficient at getting people into formations, giving adjustments, and managing crowds and groups. She also made sure to check in periodically to make sure we were getting everything we wanted, but was never overbearing.
In terms of the actual product, I've never seen better wedding photos. The edits on our photos were stunning, they weren't overdone and they highlighted our best looks, our guests best looks, and captured each and every magical moment. It almost looks effortless (of course, it is not effortless. She is incredibly skilled and hardworking). She captured every moment we wanted, she captured the vibe we wanted, she took every request we made and elevated it.
Finally, Bethany was a fantastic resource for my wife and I. We had a venue disaster and had to re-book a venue 6 weeks before the date, and Bethany both in emails and person was extraordinarily helpful, calming, and kind. She is a fantastic photographer, but she's an even better person. I have recommender her to friends, and genuinely hope they hire her so I can have my photos taken by her at other events. She is incredible. -

Y'all. Hire this woman! My husband and I had such an incredible experience using Maypole Studios' Bethany Fritz as our wedding photographer. We met through family friends and are SO glad we did. Bethany is absolute marvel - her kind and funny personality made us feel instantly at ease, and she is so game to collaborate on creative choices. We're both artists and wanted a photographer who captures candid moments along with everything we created for our ceremony, and Bethany was the perfect person for the role. She also made our engagement session one of a kind by traveling to House on the Rock with us! I would recommend Bethany to ANYONE looking for photos that are unique, gorgeous, creative, and full of joy - she has been nothing but incredible to work with and we are beyond grateful. A+++! -

A fun and chill Vibe for Wedding Photography
Brian and I want to thank Bethany from Maypole Studios for doing an outstanding job of capturing our wedding. From the moment we met Bethany, we knew her calm and caring demeanor would make us feel comfortable when working with her. Both of us felt like we are a bit awkward in front of a camera and wanted to ensure our pictures were not too posed but rather felt natural and captured the fun of our wedding day.
After Bethany took our engagement photos at our local bar with our dog Bucky, she was able to get a sense of who we are as people—how to make us laugh, smile, and feel natural in front of the camera. When we saw those pictures, I realized we had chosen the right photographer.
Fast forward to our wedding day and Bethany and her teammate John were outstanding. While we have not seen all the photos, the photos from the sneak peek are stunning. Bethany and John captured the joy, laughter, and excitement of the day. Bethany recommended to us that we take photos at a “less typical” location in Chicago and used the backdrop of Ping Tom Memorial Park to capture views of the city and colorful mural backgrounds that would be different than most wedding photos. The photos we have seen look real—no one looks stiff—and when shared already with family and friends’ people are saying Bethany’s style very much represented us and the big colors that were part of our day. Bethany was also very responsive to our concerns and needs during family photos when parents on one side of the family are divorced and now have other spouses. In addition, when photos between the guys and girls were taken separately, the guys absolutely loved John, who shared his equipment, knowledge of photography and overall exhibited the “chill” vibe they were looking for. We cannot recommend Maypole Studios enough and look forward to seeing all the thousands of photos from our wedding day!

Hiring Bethany for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made!! She was absolutely incredible to work with and we couldn't be happier with our wedding photos. As two people who don't love being in front of the camera, she did an awesome job making up feel comfortably and capturing the best of us. She was so easy to work with, which was so great while planning a wedding during a pandemic. This review is exactly 1 year late (7.13.2019), how embarrassing! Bethany and her co-photographer Jon were beyond amazing and did an incredible job capturing our wedding day and it's essence! We also had a fantastic time during our Engagement photo shoot! Not only is Bethany a seriously talented photographer but a kind soul and wonderful human being. From the first day we met her she was warm, down to earth and knowledgeable, making us feel right at ease! As soon as we left our initial consultation meeting, my husband and I knew we wanted Bethany to photograph our wedding! We are not photogenic by any means, but she made us look pretty darn good! During the engagement photo shoot and on the day of the wedding, she helped us be relaxed, ourselves and helped the photos capture 'us.' We cannot thank her enough for her attention to detail, patience, also working with our team of vendors, taking charge when needed and without being asked, providing direction and dealing with our large family and 200 guests! Thank you, Bethany! We cannot recommend Bethany and Maypole Studios enough! My husband and I worked with Bethany and Jon at Maypole Studios for our wedding in Chicago on August 18th, and I can honestly say that they were the most amazing people for the job! My husband and I are usually a bit camera shy, but Bethany and Jon immediately put us at ease, and made the entire event so much more enjoyable with their presence. All of our guests could not stop raving about how amazing they both were, and what an absolute joy and pleasure they were to work with. My husband and I absolutely loved working with Bethany and her team at Maypole Studios. Bethany is incredibly talented; she has an innate ability to take pictures that made both of us and our surroundings look fantastic, while also completely natural and authentic. I’ve never seen photos that accurately capture and reflect people’s personalities––until I saw Bethany’s work.
Neither one of us love getting our photo taken, but Bethany immediately put us at ease. We loved our engagement photos, and our wedding photos blew us away. She captured some truly special moments, and the photos have a surreal, romantic aesthetic that perfectly encapsulated our day for us. The photos were exactly what we wanted, without me even having to (or knowing how) to put what we wanted into words. She is magic!
It also helps that she is a lovely person. I was bummed when she had to leave our ceremony–I wanted her to stay and hang out with our families, because she is so fun, kind, and easy to get along with. Thank you Bethany!! -

The best photographer in chicago!
Bethany is so incredibly talented and creative -- we have been so impressed with all of our engagement photos and the photos we have seen so far from our wedding! She is so bubbly and really calmed me down on the wedding day. She has so much experience and knowledge about where to get the perfect shots. She was able to help arrange a private first look on the Nichols Bridge, which was closed that day for a city event. Talk about going above and beyond! Everyone is still talking about our pictures and her and her team -- I wish I could give more stars because she truly deserves it! -

Katy Sent on 12/08/2016I met with a couple photographers but knew when I first met Bethany that she was the one! She was easy to talk to and made me feel instantly at ease. I loved that an engagement session was included in her package too. It really helped us feel at ease with her and we had so much fun doing it. She really has an eye for fun spots that give the pictures a little bit of an edge. We met a couple times before the wedding to discuss possible shoot locations as well as timeline.
Day of Bethany and Jon, her second shooter, were awesome. They arrived on time and were completely professional all day. Our day was flew by and Bethany and Jon got all the shots we wanted and more. We received our pictures back about 3 months after our wedding and have over 1100! They are beautiful and can't thank Bethany enough for capturing the essence of our perfect day. -

You cannot go wrong with Bethany at Maypole Studios. From the get go, she strived to get to know us as individuals and a couple to make our photos and the experience more personal and memorable. Almost immediately, it felt more like taking pictures with an old friend, rather than someone we met that day. She is generous with her time, cares about getting the right shot, and knows how to get it. Very happy with Bethany and her team.
