Matthew has an incredible eye and calm energy. Matthew made us feel relaxed throughout our engagement photos and our wedding. Every time we talked to him we could breathe a sigh of relief due to his organization and reassurance. During the wedding day he magically seemed to be in multiple places at once and was able to capture many special moments in a natural and authentic way. We can not recommend Matthew enough for both his amazing photos and his energy! -

Matthew was very professional and amazingly talented - we were so impressed with how great and vibrant out wedding and engagement photos turned out! We had an outdoor wedding and even with the rain and changing lighting everything turned out looking great in the photos! Matthew was very easy to work with - catching lots of candid moments throughout the day, as well as getting our posed shots taken in a timely manner. His payment system online was also very easy to navigate and spread cost over several payments which was helpful. He also got us the photos back much quicker than we were expecting which was great! We were able to share the photos with guests right away and everyone was very happy with the photos! I would definitely recommend him if you are looking for high-quality photos. -

Perfect Photographer
The perfect photographer. Prior to hiring Matthew my husband and I expressed wanting a warm, loving, and home-y vibe to all of our photos because we knew that's the atmosphere we were curating for our day. Matthew delivered to the fullest. He was so helpful the entire day and every moment leading up to it. He got so many incredible photos and my husband and I cannot stop looking at them. We cannot wait to decorate our home with them. Our family and friends cannot stop saying how beautiful the photos are and how jealous they are that they didn't hire him for their weddings! -

Wow, we absolutely LOVED the photos from our engagement session with Matthew!!! Matthew expertly captured the gorgeous setting and mountain vistas of the Berkshires and the photos came out exactly as I envisioned! My fiancé and I are so grateful to have beautiful timeless portraits that we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives. Matthew captured us so well and I cannot thank him enough for such world-class photography and an amazing experience.
Additionally, he got our photos over to us SO QUICKLY! It was completely unexpected, but sooo appreciated!

Matthew is wonderful. On our first phone conversation we immediately knew that Matthew was the perfect photographer for us. My partner and I wanted to have a wedding that captured our love and connection to our community and that had the vibe of a relaxed good time. Matthew beyond delivered on our vision. He captured the essence of our day, the beauty of The Boylston Rooms (our Venue) and the overwhelming love in the space. We can't thank him enough. -

Matthew's keen attention, stamina, and accommodating personality helped make our day perfect. We've haven't had such quality photos before (my sister took our engagement photos on my iPhone), and I am so glad we could book someone of his caliber.
I especially appreciated the conversation we had a few days before the ceremony, where we discussed our itinerary in detail. We were getting ready in different locations and he drove to both locations before meeting us in the main venue. Of all the stressful details of the wedding, Matthew was someone we never had to worry about. -

Matthew Cavanaugh is not only an incredible photographer, but a genuinely great person. Several family members asked us after the wedding if he was a friend. He captured some truly special moments. A little while into our reception, Matthew grabbed us for a quick series of photos in the setting sun. These turned out to be some of the most loved photos from the night! -

My husband and I could not have been more pleased to have Matthew photograph our wedding. He was with us throughout the process, helped us figure out exactly what we wanted, and worked in the background the day of to make sure the everything went smoothly. His pedigree as a photojournalist showed - he melted in to the background during private moments, and took absolutely stellar photos. There is, quite literally, nothing we'd have changed. He was always available to answer questions or give instructions leading up to our big day and worked nonstop for us the day of. We received our highlights just a few weeks after the wedding and all the rest a couple weeks later. I heard many stories from friends and family who had wished they made more of an investment in their wedding photographer. We will cherish our photos forever and are so glad we spent the extra money to get the quality we wanted. Thanks again Matthew!

Anjana Sent on 11/26/2017Matt is the best. I would not think twice before hiring him again for any event. He is such a pleasant and calming presence on your wedding day and helps you enjoy your day. Most times though, you can barely even tell he's there and yet he manages to capture some beautiful moments that I would not have even expected to have been captured. His pictures are gorgeous and Chris and I had so many wonderful shots of us to choose from to frame in our home. I cannot recommend him enough.

User2485221 Sent on 12/29/2015I am writing this review after receiving some "highlights"of our wedding day only a week or two after, just in time for Christmas. I knew the most important choice we were going to make besides the venue and the dress :), would be the photographer. For those who might be cost conscious wondering if his services are worth the money, they absolutely are.
After meeting with Matt, my husband and i knew instantly that he was our guy (actually we had picked Matt before we had picked the venue!). He is a soft spoken, professional, photo ninja with broad experience and creativity required to shoot any event ! He truly captured our wedding day with all of the care and attention to detail that I had hoped. Many of our guests noted they barely noticed him or his assistant, most didnt know there were two !
Although I have only seen the amazing "highlight" photos so far I felt compelled to review Matt ASAP so that some other lucky couples can find him! -
User2037118 Sent on 02/11/2015Matthew came as a recommended vendor by the Grafton Inn when we planned our small wedding out of state. It seemed a little risky choosing a photographer we could never meet in person, but based off of his amazing photography and great reviews we decided to go ahead and have him photograph our wedding. We are so glad we did! Matthew was kind, professional, and so talented. My husband and I are not very comfortable getting our picture taken, but he put us at total ease. My mother still talks about how much she loved him, and everyone has been amazed by the photographs. We can't recommend him highly enough!
