The marriott was so easy to work with, the planner was so receptive to any feedback and had everything running very smoothly from beginning to end. It took SO much stress off of me and helped me relax and enjoy everything from the rehearsal and night before all through the entire day with a late wedding and reception on New Years Eve. Your wedding day is the most special day of your life, so as all brides know - planning for this day can be exceptionally stressful. The Marriott at Key Center did an excellent job at making the planning process as seamless and stress-free as possible. I worked with Julie Solomon (now Julie Schorr) as my event manager and coordinator, and she was beyond spectacular. She answered every single question in a timely manner, no matter what time or day it was. My wedding day was organized and flawless. And I have to say - I was skeptical that any venue could cook almost 150 filet dishes and over 60 salmon dishes well - but the food was EXCELLENT. My filet was cooked perfectly, just like I would have expected from a top notch steakhouse. My husband had both the salmon and filet and was equally as happy. Many of our guests commented on the exceptional quality of the food. The ballroom renovations are amazing and stunning, very modern and exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue. I would highly recommend the Marriott at Key Center to anyone looking for a beautiful, modern wedding with excellent service and personalized attention every step of the way. I loved having my reception at the Marriott!! At first I didn't think I wanted my reception at a hotel but after the first tour I was immediately sold. I loved getting the see the suites. They truly took the time to explain the whole day which really made it feel real. My husband and I love Cleveland and could not have picked a better place. It is in a good location so I didn't have to worry about parking/traffic and guests trying to navigate public square. You can see Browns stadium, the lake, terminal tower, and can walk just about anywhere in Cleveland. Beth Browne was my wedding coordinator and she was AWESOME. She took the time to answer my millions of questions and made sure everything went smoothly. It was so nice not having to worry about the setup of the space. She had it looking just as I had planned. Oh, she was a lot of fun too, so that was definitely a plus! The reception was perfect. I loved the ballroom, it was spacious yet intimate. I am still in shock at how nice the staff was - everyone from the bartenders to the doorman to the bellman to our "personal assistants." I had sooooo many compliments on the food. People loved it especially the short rib! One of my favorite experiences of the whole process was the food tasting. The Marriott made everything special and personal. I would highly recommend this reception venue to anyone looking for a Cleveland-y wedding! I wish I could have a reception there every year!Sent on 07/11/2018

The team at Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center helped create and fulfill a DREAM wedding. From the very first communication and planning stages, to seeing the ballroom so beautifully decorated on the big day--they were amazing. The space itself is gorgeous---with cocktail hour overlooking the city with big, glass windows. The ballroom is the perfect size---not cramped, but not overwhelming. I have to give my hat off to the wonderful serving and kitchen staff, too! The servers were so kind and observant. They worked hard to ensure every guest had a great time. My guests are still raving about the delicious food---from the served appetizers to the actual meal, everyone is saying it's the best wedding food they've ever had. I'd have to agree with them.
My (now) husband and I have always been "downtown" people and knew we wanted a city wedding. Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center was absolutely a dream come true and I would recommend the venue to anyone in a heartbeat. :)

I am so glad that we chose the Marriott at Key Center for our wedding reception! Although we had a little hiccup and our original event planner left the company 3 days before the wedding, Cal, the Director of Event Planning, stepped in and made our day perfect! He was so thoughtful to the fact that we had been thrown that curveball but we did not care. We were so lucky to have him take care of us and our event. Every time we had to go to the Marriott for one thing or another it was easy and everyone was so professional and nice. The food was fantastic which we had heard from others and continue to hear from our guests. I could not have been happier with how romantic they made the ballroom and how smoothly everything went. From our first meeting with sales over a year before our wedding until the actual night everyone at the Marriott went above and beyond. Cal our wedding planner was over the top attentive to all of our needs. Every request was honored and his presence throughout the weekend a comfort to know every detail was being taken care of. The chefs made an absolutely delicious meal from beginning to end. The banquet manager, food and beverage manager, servers at the wedding, front desk, house keeping could all not do enough for us and all of our guests. Having our wedding the the Marriott Downtown was wonderful! Everyone was so accommodating, efficient and flexible. We originally had an outdoor ceremony planned, but it rained on the wedding day. We were stuck and didn't know what to do. Luckily our event coordinator made another section of the ballroom available to us in order for our wedding ceremony to take place. We had our reception in The Club, on the 4th floor of the hotel. They couldn't have been more professional, accomodating and awesome to work with. Maureen O'Hanlan was our contact and she made everything we wanted happen without hesitation. The food, drink and service were excellent and everyone had a wonderful time. I would definately recommend the Club and Maureen to anyone looking to have the convenience of a hotel reception, without the ballroom feel. I could not have been more thrilled with our wedding at the Marriott this past summer. Being an out of town bride, I was nervous about the ability to plan from afar, but the Marriott really took care of everything. Our coordinator, Meghan, was fantastic! She was very easy to communicate with and made sure everything was taken care of. The night of the wedding was perfect - Not only was Meghan present for the beginning of the reception, but she had 3 assistants helping out until the end of the night, ensuring the reception flowed smoothly. The food was fantastic, and we've heard rave reviews from guests ever since.
While the prices might seem high at first glance, we found the value of the package to be great - not only did it include meals and open bar, but it included chair upgrades, upgraded lighting, the cake, a butler who ensured my husband and I had everything we wanted/needed all night, suites for the bridal party to get ready in, and a complimentary honeymoon suite the night of the wedding (not to mention the included coordinator & night of staff - we didn't need any sort of other wedding planner as a result).
I highly recommend The Marriott for anyone looking for a classic space with great amenities and services, and looking for an easy, stress-free planning process. Thank you for making our wedding day more perfect than I ever could have imagined!

We held our wedding reception at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center earlier this month and could not be happier. We knew even before the event we had made the right decision, but our wedding weekend was beyond what we could have imagined. We knew we wanted our reception in downtown Cleveland (since our church is in Ohio City) and we knew we wanted almost a "destination" feel since we had a good amount of out of town guests (neither of us grew up in Cleveland). We initially did not want a traditional ballroom venue, but the Marriott package was too hard to pass up and again we are so happy we went with them. Our initial meeting we were truly just doing our due diligence since we really didn't feel like we would go with the venue, but that all changed when we met Renee. Since our reception was on a Friday the Marriott crafted and negotiated such a wonderful package for us, it really included everything we wanted. From cocktail hour, our food choices, to a midnight snack and champagne toast, valet for our guests and brunch the next morning they had it all. We really did visit/consider almost every venue in downtown Cleveland and none were able to offer the same package as the Marriott. We were so used to hearing "no, no, no" and the Marriott just kept saying they could make anything work. Our event planner, Beth, was amazing and made us feel at ease throughout the entire process. She was there throughout the entire weekend and made sure each one of our requests was met. Whenever we asked Beth a question throughout the planning she would get us an answer quickly, so many times we thought our requests may not be able to be met and Beth made them all happen! Our guests enjoyed amazing hotel rooms and it really did feel like a destination wedding as everyone checked in on Thursday and had two great days of festivities. We can confidentially say there just isn't this level of service or another hotel of this caliber in the area. The food was amazing too!Sent on 10/25/2015

We had our dream wedding at the Marriott at Key Center, our ceremony was in the Key Tower, which was unique and gorgeous and we had our reception in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott. It was absolutely beautiful, our event planner, Meghan was terrific and totally understood our vision, the food was incredible and the service was impeccable.Sent on 12/15/2015
We did have a few small incidents the night of the wedding and the day after which surprised us. I asked for my meal to be boxed up that night by the butler (which was included in our wedding package) and brought to my room because being the bride, I couldn't eat a lot in a tight dress. The meal was never brought up to my room, which was really disappointing. Also the butler was supposed to check in on us all night and ask us when we needed more drinks and anything else in between, we never saw our butler after dinner was over. However, we were on the dance floor all night, but it still would have been nice to be check in on since this was included in the package.
Also, our groom's cake was supposed to be boxed up and brought to our room that night, it never was. We asked the next day what happened to it and no one from the staff knew anything about it. No one ate the groom's cake so that was an unfortunate waste of money.
Although it looks like I'm pointing out a lot more of the errors, I assure you we would highly recommend that Marriott for any couple that is getting married and wants their wedding in Downtown Cleveland. It truly was beautiful and we couldn't have had such an amazing wedding without the Marriott at Key Center.

We just loved working with Rachel Van from the Marriott. She was on top of everything and made our day extra special. She was willing to help create our vision into a reality! We couldn't be more happier with the venue. It was able to accommodate our 300+ guest and able to provide accommodations for everyone. We used the Marriott at Key Center for our hotel block for the wedding guests. They contacted me once a month via email to let me know who had booked a room under my block (this made it helpful to remind people who had not yet booked!) I have been to many events at this location and all have been lovely. I decided to have my wedding reception here for many reasons. The staff is always professional and great about getting back to you and answering any questions. The price may seem a little high but not when you consider what is all included in the price. The location is great as well. I will have many out of town guests so they can enjoying being in the city without the hassle that most downtown hotels provide since this hotel is easily accessible and is easy to find. It's also close enough if guests want to explore downtown a bit before the reception. An added bonus will be using my Marriott points for the honeymoon.Sent on 02/14/2015

Overall my experience with Marriott had been great and my wedding reception went smoothly all thanks to Cal Elaban. Not the whole planning process was perfect though. The sales team and Shannon Harris was really good and very accommodating with our needs but the problem was when they turned us over to the event specialist. Cindy was very hard to get ahold of and will sometimes take weeks to answer email. We were planning our wedding from out of town and I told them from the start that we need to do our tasting months in advance which is around Christmas because thAts the only time we will be in the area before the wedding. Our appointment came and Cindy was not around and the staff had no idea that we are scheduled for tasting. Let's just say we were not very happy. Thank goodness Cal took over and we didn't have any problem ever since. He made everything possible even with the last minute changes I had to made. The reception turned out beautiful, thanks to Cal and the Marriott staff and would give them six star If I could. I would not recommend Cindy at all, sorrySent on 09/28/2012

I would never hold an event there ever again. They advertise as if they have great expertise in planning weddings and say they provide with an event planner. The sales team was fabulous but as soon as you get switch to the event planning team, it’s totally different. The event planner did nothing remotely close to planning and was actually an impediment. When my initial email to the event planning staff didn’t receive a reply after one month, I was told by the event planner: “I may not respond to you because I am busy planning events for diplomats and foreign dignitaries” It was impossible to get information. We had repeat things with her over and over again. There were constant excuses, flat out lies, bad communication, and disorganization. I had to hand draw my floor plan for her and she still couldn’t get it right. Things were served that we never agreed to and we were charged for it. And things we had brought in from outside caterer were never served. At the last minute, just as we were about to enter the reception, the “event planner” stopped us to discuss the logistics of transporting gifts! (we had already discussed this with her in a previous meeting). Our wedding was one month ago and we are still sorting out the bill. I could have backed out without losing money, I would have done it even with all the extra hassle it would be to switch locations. Though, I will say that the day of staff who actually worked the event was really very good. And the venue is beautiful.
