  Best decision

  LJ planned us the absolute perfect wedding. We were planning the wedding from across the country in addition to having busy schedules and she made everything go so smoothly. Not to be over the top, but it truly was everything we dreamed it would be. She took care of all the details we wouldn’t have even known existed. In addition to throwing a great event, she is thoughtful and kind and was super supportive of us in the planning process. She was always responsive to our questions and kept a timeline to keep us on track. She included us in all the decision-making, but never made anything feel tedious. And as an added bonus, she had one of the best rates out of all the planners we looked into in the area. You should hire her. She’s really good at her job and fun to hang out with.

  Disclaimer--we are a COVID couple! We first got in touch with LJ back in 2019 an opted for a four-month planning package. We had done the initial heavy lifting in terms of booking and coordinating with vendors but really needed help tying everything together. She was amazing from the start. What struck me was how patient she was; neither of us had been part of many weddings at that point nor had either of us planned one. She gave us thoughtful suggestions and never pressured us into anything we weren't all in on. Due to the pandemic we postponed the wedding THREE times, finally landing on September 2021. Throughout it all, LJ was always available for any questions that crossed my mind. She even moved out of the Santa Cruz/Monterey area and went back to school and STILL made time to answer our questions and calls. Once planning ramped up, you would not even know she was no longer doing this full time. Her attention to detail and patience was unchanged. As of that weren't enough, in between our original wedding date in March 2020 and to now, my husband and I moved halfway across the country for me to start my medicine residency, and LJ was more critical than ever--she fielded all questions from our vendors, tied and re-tied loose ends, kept our 'homework' light. She was a godsend as I did not have the time or brainpower to deal with any details, with a time difference on top of it all. On the day, she came to the hotel where the bridal party was getting ready to check in, and grab any last minute items we forgot to give her the day prior. And of course. we had a timeline that inevitably had to be altered due to unforeseen delays, etc. To add to it all, we had a large opinionated family, a toddler and a dog part of our ceremony, whom she all wrangled beautifully. LJ handled it all with grace and made sure we never felt like we were on a time crunch, and made sure to remind us it was OUR day. Toward the end of the night, I finally let go of the to-do list that had occupied my head for the last several months and just had fun--LJ coordinated clean up and packing up of cars while my husband and I gallivanted around with abandon. She was kind, professional, prompt, patient, and incredibly attentive. Without question, I would recommend anyone having an event to entrust LJ!

  Don't think twice - LJ of LUX & JASPER was absolutely one of the BEST decisions we made when planning our wedding last year in Monterey, CA!! If you are lucky enough for her to have availability, just hire her. She makes the stressful process feel manageable, and I was fully confident on the day of the wedding that she had everything under control. She is also super creative - it's such a gift to chat with her and hear her ideas to transform a space.
  
  We had a more complicated wedding schedule, with two separate Hindu and Christian ceremonies in one day, and with a tea hour, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, the works - her and her ladies moved around our guests seamlessly. She also dealt with some vendors & our venue through tricky situations, and kept us out of the loop in the moment - exactly what we wanted so we could be as present as possible.

  Day of coordinator, decor, florals

  LJ is INCREDIBLE!! I told her that if I hadn’t married my husband, I’d marry her in a heartbeat! Working with her was stress free and so much fun. She has the warmest heart and mellow personality. You can’t help but love her. She wore so many hats for us: day of coordinator, decor, florals, and I have a feeling she shielded us from a “hard to deal with” venue owner. She was so sweet and came through with making our ideas come to life and added special touches throughout the venue that I never would have thought of. If she’s available for your special day, snag her right away. If she’s not...change your wedding date.

  Relaxed, calm and easy to work with

  LJ was very calm and relaxed, and was open to all our ideas. She was able to gracefully navigate our busy schedules and was well versed in the particulars of the Sequoia Retreat Center, which was very helpful. As the Mother of the Bride, I can say she helped us stay on track, and the day of services were smooth, considering the millions of details that were put in place. It was great to know LJ knew all our desires, and was able to make sure it came together. A beautiful weekend of love, family and friends.

  Look no further! Book LJ now :)

  My husband and I got married on 5/18/19 at the Sequoia Retreat Center, and we truly can’t imagine our wedding without LJ’s help. She was DEFINITELY the best investment we made throughout our wedding process, and went so above and beyond our expectations. We ended up doing a full wedding weekend for our guests, and LJ helped us with the entire weekend from the Friday welcome dinner until the Sunday post-wedding brunch (and everything in between!). Her extreme knowledge with our venue and relationship with the staff there is invaluable.
  
  During the actual wedding, we had a super unexpected storm that put much of our planning and organization at risk. It felt in the moment like everything had to be changed and we were running out of time, but LJ dove into execution mode and did whatever it took to make the day go off without a hitch. We ended up fully relying on LJ to make many new decisions about the wedding that had to be made in this new vision with a day full of rain, and she executed perfectly. Amid all the chaos of unexpected weather, it was a huge relief knowing that we could fully trust LJ to cover all the bases.
  
  One of LJ’s unique strengths compared to other planners is her amazing creativity and ability to create magic. There were MANY points throughout our wedding where people would compliment us on staging that was setup across the venue, or small touches that we had no part in; it was all LJ. Her creativity was extremely helpful and saved us so much time from spending too much effort in worrying about design aspects of the weekend, and the end result was miles better than we ever could have dreamt up.
  
  It would take too long to list all of the many amazing things LJ did for us that went above and beyond. Just to mention a few, she single handedly put on our Sunday brunch for almost 100 people, including buying all of the food and drinks, fully decorating and staging tables, and coordinating the whole morning. She helped us find our amazing vendor team (we feel so lucky to have landed with each and every one of them) and managed much of the communication and coordination between them (a difficult task when all of the plans change because of the weather). She added so many special touches throughout the entire weekend that our guests loved and appreciated, such as beautifully decorated nooks to relax in and a super cute smores stand. She also took the lead on creating magical succulent boxes for our welcome dinner centerpieces when we decided we didn’t have budget to rent them from our florist.
  
  Our wedding truly wouldn’t have been the magical weekend that it was without LJ’s help, especially with the craziness that the last minute weather changes caused. If you’re looking for a wedding planner (ESPECIALLY if you’re working with the Sequoia Retreat Center) we highly recommend you go with LJ.

  Laura was so helpful from start to finish! She had all the right questions and made sure nothing was left out.
  Laura's creativity helped guide me when I was unsure, I loved her ideas every time! Max and I went the less traditional route with a few steps, but Laura made us feel comfortable and ensured us there is no right or wrong way to do things.
  The weeks leading up to our wedding she made sure she was the point of contact with all of our vendors so we could focus on us. Wedding weekend she made sure we didn't have to worry about a thing!
  It was really nice having someone help me plan, who cared so much about us and our wedding weekend. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but after each meeting with Laura she made me feel at ease.
  We love Laura so much and I would highly recommend her!

  Creative wedding planner

  We worked with LJ and couldn't have had a better experience. We gave LJ the reins to design our venue (barn in downtown Monterey), and she did an amazing job. Ours was an Indian - Chinese wedding. What makes LJ stand out is that she thought through the small design details to incorporate both cultures. She added paper lanterns to the oak trees and went above and beyond to make our mandap. We had over 30 kids at the wedding and LJ made sure there were enough toys to keep the kids. The photos from LJ's clients can speak for themselves in terms of her creative vision. What's not seen is the hard work LJ puts in behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. Thank you LJ!

She could easily charge double what she does and we'd still have been thrilled at the value. She is a delightful person and a pleasure to work with as well. We are deeply grateful we found her and would recommend her to anyone.

  Laura is an exceptional planner and orchestrator of events. We have used her services in the past, and will definitely use her in the future. Her pricing is fair and her services are of high value. Laura is expert at anticipating needs and potential issues. She has a good eye for design, placement of decorations, ideas on how to beautify an event, all within budget. Laura is such a pleasure to work with, patient, kind, thoughtful and smart! She saved the day on my son's wedding, and helped everyone relax and enjoy.

  LJ is absolutely fantastic! Her ability to do almost everything is mind boggling! She took the stress away from me on a very important day! I loved her creativity and solutions when we needed them. From our experience in working with wedding coordinators we see that the wedding parties needs take priority over the vendors needs which is understandable. With LJ we were pleasantly surprised. Every bit of our communication during the planning phase was always immediate and with no drama. During the wedding we observed a very relaxed and stress free coordination and day of execution that is hard to come by with planners. To boot LJ answered her cell phone during the most stressful part of the wedding to field a quick last minute question and with a calm and confident demeanor. It really was a pleasure to work with her team.

  LJ is someone you like after your very first conversation with her. She is friendly, energetic, and clearly passionate about what she does. We booked for the smallest service package, but LJ went above and beyond and started working on our wedding long before her contract said she would.
  
  Most of our communication was via email or phone. LJ was there every step of the way to answer our questions, give us advice, help us narrow down our options, and give us guidance on what we should be working on at any given time. Planning a wedding involves so many details that it can be overwhelming. LJ helped us prioritize projects and keep everything organized. As someone who loves lists and spreadsheets, I appreciated LJ’s attention to detail and her ability to help us stay on track. My more free-form, artistic husband appreciated her vision and creativity, and that she was comfortable taking the reins in situations where all we had were vague ideas about what we wanted. She handled everything: the ceremony and reception set-up, the décor, coordinating the other vendors, and keeping everyone on track with the timeline for the day.   LJ is someone you like after your very first conversation with her. She is friendly, energetic, and clearly passionate about what she does. We booked for the smallest service package, but LJ went above and beyond and started working on our wedding long before her contract said she would.
  
  Most of our communication was via email or phone. LJ was there every step of the way to answer our questions, give us advice, help us narrow down our options, and give us guidance on what we should be working on at any given time. Planning a wedding involves so many details that it can be overwhelming. LJ helped us prioritize projects and keep everything organized. As someone who loves lists and spreadsheets, I appreciated LJ’s attention to detail and her ability to help us stay on track. My more free-form, artistic husband appreciated her vision and creativity, and that she was comfortable taking the reins in situations where all we had were vague ideas about what we wanted.   LJ is an absolute gem! I hired her exactly one month out from our wedding to be our day of coordinator and she went FAR above and beyond that role. She has worked a bunch of weddings and has a relationship with our venue (Sequoia Retreat Center) which is a enormous property and we were hosting an entire weekend wedding. As we were getting closer to the weekend, I realized that we really needed someone to help us manage the flow of things and help us literally pull the whole thing off. I can't stress this enough- we would have been lost without LJ. We had multiple phone calls over the month including an almost 2 hour call where LJ walked me through every possible scenario, timeline, and seating/catering plan. In the week before, she was in touch via text almost every day just to ask if there was anything at all on my mind or stressing me out. Once the weekend arrived, LJ was literally everywhere at once, I don't know how she did it. She offered for us to give her phone number out to our guests in case they got lost or missed the shuttle, she walked us through the rehearsal from beginning to end, she provided simple decorations, like a sign for our guestbook, frames for our signs and photos and a basket for the cards, she set everything up from tables and centerpieces to the favors, she helped the groomsmen pin their boutonnieres on, she had some signs printed for us, she returned some rentals from our dessert table, all in addition to the regular day of coordination with all of our vendors.
  
  We were able to 100% enjoy every second of our weekend thank to LJ. She ensured that we had NOTHING to stress or worry about. LJ is incredibly organized, creative, and has a wonderfully mellow and calming vibe. She anticipated every turn and bump that could come up and was ahead of it. She was the last vendor we hired but in the end, she was the most important person for the weekend. We could not have done it without her.

  I can't even begin to explain how amazing LJ is to work with she is a wedding expert.. She made planing a wedding feel so easy and stress free. An we had a large wedding of 300 people that was over night so that says a lot too not feel stressed. We had the wedding in a beautiful location up in the Santa Cruz mountains and she went above and beyond driving all the way up to the wedding venue on multiple occasions with me and my husband to help us plan.   LJ helped with my own Baby Shower planning and design.It was a big event with around 100 invitees. As much as I wanted the event to be perfect, I was quite conscious of our budget. My friends offered to help, but it is extremely hard for me to delegate work. So I started making calls and picked a venue. I researched to find the best baker in town. By this time, I was already feeling overwhelmed. I had a vision in mind, but had no idea how to achieve it without someone's help. Working with an event designer meant spending a lot of money towards planning. But the task of doing it all by myself seemed daunting, and I decided to give it a try.
  
  I made several calls and met other designers before talking to LJ. From the get-go, LJ was very receptive. She listened to me, and understood exactly what I was looking for. I knew right then that I wanted to work with her.
  
  The more I talked to her, the more I felt at ease. Initially, I would share my ideas. But soon I realized I could let go and have her plan the whole thing. She coordinated with the event manager at the restaurant. And she also coordinated with the baker and conveyed the theme, design and color ideas. She took care of everything, while being extremely budget conscious for me.
  
  The event was flawless. I was completely blown away by how well it was all put together. More importantly, I realized that anything I mentioned to LJ about my vision was brought to reality. All her handwork and presence during the event meant that I could relax and enjoy. All the guests raved about the event. It was perfect.
  
  LJ is such a wonderful person, and it was a pleasure working with her. I would highly recommend her.

She added many personal touches so this would be ours, from the polaroids to get your seating card, to a memorial for those not attending, to our centerpieces and cake displays - it all fit together and continued our themes and colors without ever being repetitive.
  
  On the day of, I could not believe the flurry of activity as the half dozen or so vendors were setting up. LJ was right in the thick of it, directing traffic and keeping on schedule. When external complications delayed the start and even changed the processional order, LJ adjusted us and kept things on track so we were quickly back ahead of schedule!
  
  The entire event was a magical and in a word - perfect. Even knowing the plans for each section of the wedding, I was constantly in awe of how amazing and meticulously planned everything was - how the tables were set up, the lighting around 3 different areas, the alter, everything!
  
  LJ was an absolute joy to work with. She fielded frantic calls from both of us when we started to feel stressed, worked us through the complexities of event activities and tipping. LJ is a consummate collaborator with great ideas that come from years of experience, and excellent, personalized recommendations for vendors. I really appreciated her can-do, positive attitude and attention to detail.

  One of the best decisions we made around my wedding was finding LJ of Lux & Jasper as our wedding planner/day-of coordinator. She kept us calm, focused & answered every single frantic email & question we had. LJ was a HUGE help as we sorted out our vision & what we wanted -- & then followed through flawlessly on bringing that vision to life. She has an incredible eye for design & was instrumental in creating a beautiful setting. One of my favorite things about LJ is that she always shared her opinion when asked & when she thought another option may be better than the direction we were headed, she'd respectfully why & get us back on track – but she always respected what we wanted. All the vendors she recommended were AMAZING. She was straightforward with cost & how vendors stacked up against the competition. Even though she had relationships with many people in the industry, I always felt like she had our best interest in mind & represented us incredibly accurately. LJ provided a range of suggestions to make sure we understood our options (for example, for the Groom's Cake she suggested everything from an elaborate cake from a local artisanal bakery to Safeway & everything in between!), but when we just wanted her to handle something and not be weighed down by choices, she executed things flawlessly. On the day of, we had nothing to worry about -- everything that was within her control turned out flawlessly. She also navigated tricky situations with our difficult to work with on-site venue contact & did a great job at managing her to make sure we had the day we envisioned. LJ provided a range of suggestions to make sure we understood our options (for example, for the Groom's Cake she suggested everything from an elaborate cake from a local artisanal bakery to Safeway & everything in between!), but when we just wanted her to handle something and not be weighed down by choices, she executed things flawlessly. On the day of, we had nothing to worry about -- everything that was within her control turned out flawlessly. She also navigated tricky situations with our difficult to work with on-site venue contact & did a great job at managing her to make sure we had the day we envisioned. I was constantly impressed by her positive & calming attitude, grounding presence, creative vision & her ability to manage complex & emotionally charged situations. She was patient & understanding when we had last-minute changes & always snapped into action when we needed her to. I would definitely recommend LJ as a wedding planner/day-of coordinator! We couldn't have done it without her!
