Simply amazing!

Christin and Ashe were amazing to work with! I searched hard to find a hair and makeup team in the Santa Barbara area that showed a true range of diversity on their websites. I was honored to be able to find and hire a Black-owned, women-owned, queer-owned team! I did a hair and makeup trial before my wedding and loved the look, but it didn’t hold up as well as I would have liked. I sent Christin and Ashe pictures and feedback, and they NAILED IT on my wedding day! They really took everything I said into consideration, and the result was amazing! More perfect that I could have imagined! They are true artists. Very friendly and fun to work with. Highly recommend.

The Best a Bride Could Ask For

There are truly not enough words to describe how wonderful Ashley and Christin are. I was blown away with their professionalism, kindness, expertise, and efficiencies. Both of them instantly got it when sharing the hair and makeup I was hoping to achieve and were able to accomplish it in 45ish minutes due to their vast experience allowing them to be more efficient. Better than that though, sitting in their chair and being with them felt like I was taking "me time" right before our ceremony and squashed any stress from what else needed to be done that day. Photos in this review range from before the ceremony to hours after, to show just how well the hair and makeup lasted!

We hired Ashley and Christin of Lunabella Hair and Makeup for our Santa Barbara Historical Museum wedding in April 2018. With a wide range of skin tones among my bridal party, mother, and mother-in-law, it was a priority for me to choose hair and makeup artists experienced in working with all kinds of beauty. It was also important to me to select artists skilled at enhancing one’s features for a lovely, natural look. Though Lunabella services are certainly not inexpensive, hiring their team was one of the best wedding planning decisions we made!

On the day of our wedding, Ashley and Christin provided makeup services to my six bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law. Ashley did my bridal makeup and Christin my hair. Our morning of getting ready in the bridal suite of the Historical Museum could not have gone better. Ashley and Christin were incredibly kind, attentive, personable, and encouraging to each woman in our group – all while remaining exactly on schedule, despite their assistant not being able to make it to the venue that day. Every woman was thrilled with the results of her makeup – they each looked stunning, with fresh, natural makeup that lasted all day. My mother and mother-in-law were very hesitant to have their makeup done (this was the first time for both), but they ended up loving the results. Ashley and Christin also helped me to feel comfortable and relaxed over the course of the morning. I felt I was in the hands of two old friends! And I was absolutely thrilled with their bridal hair and makeup: Ashley’s makeup was just the fresh, natural, glowing look I had requested, and Christin’s braided half-up/curled half-down hairstyle was gorgeous. I had never felt more beautiful or more myself and received numerous compliments over the course of the day. My hair and makeup lasted from the morning through our after-party and late-night tacos.

I cannot recommend enough the Lunabella team for wedding hair and makeup. They are absolutely amazing!

I cannot say enough good things about LunaBella. They are truly the best. They did my hair and makeup for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. The entire experience was great from the first trial to the wedding day and everything In between. My hair and makeup was flawless and lasted all night long. My entire bridal party looked stunning and we all had so much fun getting ready. Ashley and Christin are not only talented artists but they are upbeat, flexible, organized, and make you feel so special. I highly recommend them for any event.

Christin and Ashley are a wonderful team of artist to work with. My wife and I recently married in Solvang, CA in June 2015. They traveled to us to do hair and make-up for a mother of the bride, grandmother and of course, the brides. Everyone looked and felt amazing. We had a trial run months before the wedding and we knew they were the ones! I have curly hair and am very picky about who does my hair because not many people understand curly hair. Christin knew just what to do and I was able to relax on the day of the wedding. I also prefer a more natural look when it comes to make-up but also knew that it would need to be more substantial to show up in pictures. Ashley accomplished both and I still looked like myself. You cannot go wrong with this team. I only wish they lives in Houston so that they could glam me up for every special occasion!

These ladies are AMAZING!!! Every bride wants to look as beautiful as possible on their big day and Christin and Ashley are beauty goddesses! I worked with them for my Sept 2015 wedding for both bridal hair and make up but also for my large wedding party & female relatives and everyone just looked gorgeous! And (maybe most importantly), I LOVED LOVED LOVED my own hair and make up. They collaborated with me on everything and the result was just perfect. It lasted the whole night without being too cakey or heavy and I was so sad at the end of the night when I had to take it all off. I'm pretty sure that it was the best that I have ever looked and I hope to one day work with them again just so I can feel that again. Seriously, these ladies are incredible. Would highly recommend!!!

The LunaBella girls are amazing...working with them during my wedding was like hanging out with friends. They are laid-back, funny, loving, caring...all around awesome people...just the type of people you want hanging out with you while you get ready for your wedding day. They made everyone in my bridal party look so beautiful and natural (none of the caked on make up, hair sprayed disasters I had experienced during trials with other make-up artists)...the picture perfect make-up and hair lasted through out the entire event. Everyone looked awesome even when the wedding turned into a late night party :-) I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful bridal make-up/hair team.

I was getting married in the Santa Barbara area and really thought that I would have a hard time finding someone to do my hair for my wedding being that I am African American. I hired an artist from LA to travel up for my hair and make-up, but a few months later I realized that my girls needed their hair and make-up too. Luckily I was referred by a kind make-up artist who lived in the Santa Barbara area to Luna Bella. She told me that they did indeed specialize in nature hair care and were also professional make-up team for hire, and the best part: they were mobile! I was shocked and wanted to see if they were available for my wedding!!!!

I contacted LunaBella and I was assisted by Carmen Fierro. Carmen Rocks! I was beyond pleased and happy with her professionalism and prompt responses to all my emails and questions, scheduling and etc. Both my makeup artist and hair stylist for the girls (please forgive me that I forget their names) were on time, professional and had a wonderful attitude that kept the mood celebratory and helped me stay upbeat being that a random rain storm hit the morning of my wedding. Finding Lunabella was bitter sweet; it was far too late to book them for my services, but I was still able to use them to make my sisters, nieces and my mom look so Bella on the best day of my life. The girls felt and truly looked beautiful and I am so happy to know that I do indeed have a place in Santa Barbara that I could go to, since I honestly didn’t think I would be able to find a place that could specialize in black and natural hair care. Thank goodness for the referral and now I can hire them for other special occasions that may arise. Carmen even helped me find a barber who give my fiancé one of the best haircuts he has even had for our wedding day.

My wedding coordinator, Sophie Spier, recommended Luna Bella for Hair and Makeup for my wedding day. After glancing at their website, I knew I would be in good hands! I had a general look in mind for the “tone” I wanted to set with my makeup, and Nickie took that and made it even better! She gave suggestions while also respecting what I wanted. She was awesome. We had a little shade difference between the foundation and my skin tone, that we discovered after the trial was completed, and Nickie knew exactly how to fix it and on my big day, it was Perfect!! (I recommend a trial! It gives everyone a chance to get comfortable and communicate their vision!) Lynzi did a fabulous job with my hair! Once again, I told her what I had in mind and she knew what to do! No problem! I loved what she did! I had a head piece that I was concerned about because if placed the wrong way, it would look awful, but I felt so confident with Lynzi and she did not let me down! These two work great together! They know what they’re doing, they’re super sweet, and very professional. You will not be disappointed! Also, Carmen was great in getting everything coordinated. She responds quickly, and is super sweet. There’s a lot to be said about that! It’s a big deal and it’s important to have people who want to help you and are excited to work with you! Love them! Hope to work with them again!

I LOVED these ladies!! I was a bit on the fence when my wedding planner recommended them to me as it was a bit pricier than I had budgeted....but boy am I glad I bit the bullet! Christin & Ashley were awesome both for the engagement shoot and for the wedding. They took the time to get to know me and asked me what I looked like everyday and basically made a MUCH better looking me. Everyone complimented me on how my makeup and hair looked so natural. There was a bit of drama with my aunt and they worked to fix it and made sure both she and I were happy - total professionals - I wouldn't have trusted my makeup for my wedding to anyone else. A fabulous recommendation from my wedding planner :-) Thanks ladies!

If I could give Ashley 10 stars, I would! She is absolutely amazing with make-up! She did the make-up for my four bridesmaids, mother and I for my August wedding at San Ysidro Ranch. She is truly an artist! She made all of us look and feel so beautiful for my special day. Her technique is the best that I have ever experienced because it looked natural, flawless and enhanced all of my facial features. Everyone's make-up was absolutely perfect and lasted well into the wee hours the next morning so good, actually, remover barely worked! :) She was right on time, very friendly yet professional and a pleasure to work with. Wow Wow and WOW is all I've got to say about these girls!!! LOVE LOVE them! They are SOOOO talented! Made myself, my mom, aunt, bridesmaids, flower girl, cousin nothing less than divine. Months of little sleep- gone with a touch of their brushes- We never felt and looked so glamour, sexy and flawless in our lives! I booked LunaBella for my hair and makeup on my wedding day. I did not have a trial test and was not certain what I wanted, but they showed up and offered suggestions and did an AMAZING job!! I have never been so happy with my hair and makeup. Somehow my hair stayed in its up-do all day through wind and the heat. My makeup didn't smear or fade away either. So impressed by their work!! They are an incredible team, professional and friendly. Book them! You will not be disappointed. They are worth every penny!!!

Christin, Ashley, and Celene of LunaBella did my hair and makeup (as well as my mom's and my friends) for my wedding day, and they were simply outstanding. If I could give them 10 stars, I would - seriously!

I had multiple trial runs with different make-up artists and cosmetic counters before I found LunaBella - my main issue was that I wanted to look like myself on my wedding day, and I felt that most of the makeup artists I tried out made me look too "made-up," despite my telling them that I wanted a natural look. In fact, before I found LunaBella (on yelp!), I had resolved to just do my own hair and makeup for my wedding...

Ashley and Christin completely listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted - we all (me, my mom, and my friends) looked like better versions of ourselves! Everyone was thrilled with how they looked. Aside from Ashley and Christin's creative expertise, they bring a good energy with them, I can't explain it....they have a really positive and peaceful aura that is wonderful to be around on your wedding day. And they are efficient too - they had time to "touch up" my fiance's sunburned nose....they were amazing!!

Ashley and Christin know their stuff, and it shows. I highly, highly recommend them.

I got married in the Santa Barbara area a few weeks ago and used LunaBella for my hair/makeup as well as my mom's and about 6 bridesmaids. Ashley was SO responsive throughout the planning process and responded to questions by email, sent me timelines to review, etc. Brittany did my hair and make-up and was AMAZING. We had 3 LunaBella girls there, including Ashley, and all of them were on time, friendly and amazingly talented. I have been a bridesmaid more times than I can count and honestly considered not offering hair and makeup to my 'maids because I have never been thrilled with hair and make-up for other weddings... but every single bridesmaid LOVED how she looked and they all look model gorgeous by the time Luna Bella was done with them! Two girls had said they would prefer to do their own and then changed their mind when they saw how pretty all the others looked, which Ashley accomodated gracefully and still finished everyone ontime! Even now as pictures are rolling in I'm noticing how beutiful everyone looks - glam hair, fabulous lashes and flawless skin. I can't recommend the LunaBella girls any more highly!

Ashley and Christin were the best! Using LunaBella for my makeup and hair for my wedding was one of the best decisions I made. Both of them are friendly and listen to what you want. They take your ideas and bring them to life. All of my bridesmaids and wedding party that got their hair and/or makeup done with them told me how great they were. My maid of honor came in the day of the wedding with huge, frizzy hair and the end result was smooth and sleek - just beautiful! My end result made me feel like a model. I met Ashley and Christin at a bridal fair in Santa Barbara...now that I think about it, they were the FIRST of all of our wedding vendors we met! Anyway, they were so sweet, and I liked their energy, and their quality of work. I have mixed hair (I am Black and Filipino) and am very particular of who does my hair because of so many bad experiences in the past; they were able to work with my hair and they did an excellent job!

On the day of the wedding, they were on time and EXTREMELY efficient! My bridesmaids looked beautiful and I was so happy with my makeup and hair that day! We had about 10 people doing hair and makeup and we were done AHEAD of schedule. They were extremely calm, laid back and in control...they are truly professionals and I am SO HAPPY with them. Overall I had an awesome experience!

They also travel with very reasonable travel fees...better than what I have seen out there. Our wedding was in San Clemente and we were able to workout a very reasonable travel for Ashley, Christin and their 2 assistants.

I loved my LunaBella experience!

Ashley did my make-up for my wedding and it was amazing!! I originally met with another artist and was going to go with her since my husband did not want to go to another make-up trial. I never felt 100% at ease with the first artist because although she did a good job, it wasn't great. I had spoken with Ashley on the phone for a consultation but since we just couldn't schedule a time for a trial, I forgot about her. When she emailed, to check and see if I still needed her services, I felt it was a sign. I decided to just go with her since I saw her work online and I knew she was talented. Thank God I made that last minute decision because she made my wedding make-up dreams come true! It was exactly what I had pictured and totally made my day! Ashley is super talented and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a makeup artist to go with Ashley!

Ashley and Christin at LBMA were lifesavers! I had no idea where to start with hair and makeup for myself or my wedding party and they were able to step in and take the lead. Not only were they flexible with payment (which, as we all know, is soooo helpful before a huge event like a wedding), but they were flexible with timing and my final look. LBMA allowed me to schedule my hair and makeup trial on the morning of my rehearsal dinner so I would look beautiful and feel my best at both events! I was astonished when I saw their work. I am not a girly girl that knows how to do makeup (or hair for that matter) but after my trial I was so elated that I had chosen this company for my wedding. My hair and makeup remained on all night for the rehearsal and looked great- even after copious amounts of wine. Also, all of the pictures of myself and my bridesmaids at the ceremony and reception show off the skills of LBMA because our hair and makeup were gorgeous throughout the event!

I absolutely LOVE Ashley & Christin! They were so easy to work with and managed to squeeze my mother, sister & me in despite having another wedding the same day. My hair is curly & it is often difficult to find people I trust to style it, but I was in good hands considering how similar my hair is to Ashley's & Christin's. I didn't have time for a trial, so I sent pictures of a hair style and explained the type of make-up I wanted and I could not have been more pleased with the outcome!

They work well with one another and have a positive, calming energy that is exactly what every bride needs on her wedding day!

The stylist assigned to me for my big day didn't show but Ashley and Kristen totally came through and redeemed themselves! My hair and make-up was amazing and I got so many compliments on what a gorgeous bride I was. Thank you ladies for all of your help and attentiveness!

Ashley and Christin at LunaBella were an absolute delight to work with for my wedding. I could not have imagined a more calming hair and makeup experience! They are so truly talented and played an important part in what a blissful and relaxing day it was. The work Ashley does with makeup is such an art - I will always wonder just how she does it - and Christin was able to create the perfect updo by combining the pictures I brought in and my jumbled ideas about what I wanted. These girls are the best!!

These girls are absolutely amazing! They are professional, genuine, fun, and very easy to communicate with (which can be difficult if you don't live nearby). They are very flexible and open to new ideas (I ended up changing my look completely on the actual day and they executed it with perfection). Ashley and Christin are true artists with great range of style. I honestly cannot recommend them enough.

I hired Luna Bella Make-up for my wedding in September and they were such a pleasure to work with! Ashley was the one I corresponded with the most and she was so helpful and always got back to me in a timely fashion. Our artists were Brooklyn and Manny for hair and Danielle for make-up. We enjoyed our time with them so much! They were so professional and fun and everyone was thrilled with their end results. Well, it's been about a month since our wedding, and the dust is settling but I would be extremely remiss before moving forward from the wedding without giving big time props to my artists at Luna Bella. Ashley and her partner were busy, so I was kind of worried about other girls doing my hair and make-up but Ashley assured me that the two girls who she would book would be fabulous. Being Japanese, Ashley thoughtfully hired a Japanese makeup artist from MAC, named Masami. Also she contracted Brookly to do my hair. I knew from my wedding trial day that I had nothing to worry about. They were extremely professional, fun, talented, on-time, and worked quickly. Yes! In a nutshell, they made me look fabulous and my photos turned out beautifully. Thank you LBMA. You ROCK!

I absolutely loved working with LBMA. They do fabulous work, and I was so happy with how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding. They are extremely flexible - they even traveled to San Francisco from Santa Barbara to do my hair/makeup trial. Not only do they do great work, but they are fantastic people - if you're going to spend 8 hours getting ready with a team of artists, these are the girls you want to go with. A big note was that they stayed on time - they actually worked faster than expected, and got done with 8 women (hair and makeup) with time to spare. Thank you LBMA!!

LunaBella made me feel gorgeous on my wedding day, and I didn't have to stress at all about how my hair and makeup would look that day. I have very high standards and LunaBella met them. Ashely and Christin by far are the best hair and make up team I have encountered in Santa Barbara County! From day one they responded to my inquiry for their services in a timely manner with extreme friendliness. From start to finish they always had my best interest and provided the appropriate suggestions for my BIG DAY. On my wedding day they made me relax by providing fun music to listen to and Christin made sure that my hair would stay put considering it was raining cats and dogs on that day. Ashley, listened to my request to have dramatic looking eyelashes and she made it happen. Throughout the day my make up and hair survived the rainy day, and guests complimented me on my make up and hair. Since then I have highly recommended them to other future brides and high school seniors for prom. They truly will make your special day unique and unforgettably beautiful ;)

Book these women as fast and as early as possible!!!!!!!! They are a total joy to work with and are incredibly flexible both on the day of and any advance work you may want done. (I did a trial and then I also decided pretty last minute that I wanted them to come over and do my hair/makeup the night before too!) I love, love, love them and you should feel lucky if you can get a spot in their line-up!

Christin and Ashley, the ladies of LunaBella Make up Art, were fantastic. They did hair and make up for me, my mom, and my sister on my wedding day and we were thrilled with how we all looked. I am not a make up person at all and I was concerned that getting my make up done meant I wouldn't look like myself, but Christin and Ashley made me look both glamorous and natural. My mom, my sister, and I all have pretty different looks (despite being related) but Christin and Ashley were easily able to cater to each of our styles and play up our individual features. They were also very flexible, sweet, and relaxed; a total pleasure to have around on the big day. I couldn't recommend them enough!

LBMA's Ashley and Christin did an awesome job for my bridesmaids and I! They listened to what I wanted and executed it wonderfully! (Even again when I changed my mind from going "glam" to "natural"- which they did both looks beautifully). I got hair extensions through them as well, and I loved it!. They really know what they're doing, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants their make-up professionally done. (I consider myself pretty picky too).
Another bonus on top of being good at what they do is their attitude- I had a morning wedding and they were there at 6 am bright and early with a smile; their demeanor helped keep me calm and less jittery! :)

I was a bride in from out of town, so I wasn't able to schedule a trial run before the wedding day. Instead, I worked with Leah via e-mail, sending her pictures of the dress, myself, and pictures that would help describe my vision of what I wanted for that day. They were on time (even a couple of minutes early), ran exactly on schedule while still being flexible enough to add more services to my sister on the spot. Everyone looked amazing!

Ashley and Christin were wonderful! They did my hair and make-up as well as my Jr bridesmaids and my sisters (also bridesmaids).

They did a fantastic job with both my hair and make-up and it lasted all day! the only touch up I needed to do was blot powder to minimize shine from too much dancing. :-)

The only drawback was the pricing. The cost of the trial is higher than other vendors I spoke with, and the additional charges per person were also on the high side. I decided to stick with them anyway because I felt as though they really understood what look I wanted to achieve.

I would definitely use them again if I was in the area.

Christin did an amazing job with hair...they were really easy and flexible to work with. I love that they travel to and from...makes it so much easier. They made the day very stress free and relaxing. Christin did I think 7 peoples hair in about 4-5 hours! Everyone looked gorgeous.
Another make up artist did a fabulous job as well!

Ashley was so easy to work with and her and her team did an amazing job on myself and the entire bridal party. The makeup was exactly as I pictured it, super glam but natural colors, and it lasted pretty long. After dancing, though, my makeup was pretty much gone, so it disappeared in pictures from the last 2 hours. Loved working with them, and love their work!

I was very unhappy with the services provided by Lunabella for my wedding on 9-10-11. After speaking with the 3 bridesmaids and 2 mothers who had their hair done, it was a consensus that no one was happy with the way their hair turned out, including myself. My hair did not look anything like the picture I had provided at our meeting the week prior to the wedding. The rest of the ladies' hair looked sloppy. Christin, Natalia and Celene arrived late. What is the most unprofessional was that I was assured by Ashely back in January (when I booked them) that she would do the makeup and Christin would be doing the hair. However, Ashley did the makeup at another wedding (see below) despite the fact that she had told me a week prior to my wedding that she would be doing my makeup. This is extremely unprofessional, especially considering that she waited until 2 days before my wedding at 4 in the afternoon to inform me of the change. Because of all this, I do NOT recommend Lunabella to other brides.

UPDATE
After I informed LunaBella of my experience, Ashley was prompt in responding and offered to reimburse me for some services. I would like to also add a comment on the makeup that was provided by Christin, which I neglected to mention before. She did a nice job with everyone's makeup- we all looked beautiful but natural. They even provided airbrush services because we were taking photographs outside. We were very happy with the makeup and I got lots of comments on how great everyone looked.
