Lois is incredible! We don’t even know where to begin with explaining just how wonderful she is. She was referred to us by a close friend (who is a tough critic) and after listening to her great reviews and looking her up online, we decided to reach out to her. We met on zoom and she told us about herself and asked us about ourselves and our families. We hit it off right away and knew she would help to make our wedding ceremony perfect. Due to covid, we had to postpone our wedding twice. She was beyond understanding and made herself readily available for each of our dates (and for help and emotional support along the way)! She gave us homework, which we submitted separately and she then created the most beautiful ceremony. She incorporated quotes, shared stories and even helped us to choose rituals for our ceremony. It was absolutely perfect. Our guests could not stop commenting on how beautiful and unique the ceremony was, and many of them said it was the nicest ceremony they have ever been to. We feel the same way!

The Best or Nothing
We eloped only days ago at Harmony Gardens in Saylorsburg, PA with Lois Heckman as our officiant. Her property is a perfectly curated place of serenity and love, it feels like a true oasis nestled away from the world. We felt SO welcome there, so happy, so at ease.
Meeting Lois was so zen. Clicked with her right away. We had so many similar views of the world and I was so excited to have someone like her taking us to married life!
Words could not possibly do this woman justice for what she provided for us on our wedding day. I didn’t know it was possible for an elopement to be as incredible and powerful with deep meaning as it was. The vows she wrote for us touched us so deeply!! She made this day so special and we never could have had this experience with anyone else, ever. She is truly the best. We contacted her Oct 3 2025 and were married Oct 14 2025. With how spectacular our day was you would have thought this was planned for months. She is phenomenal, efficient, professional, smart, down to earth, and kind. A personal and connected ceremony to remember
We first discovered Lois because she was listed as a preferred vendor for our venue, Stroudsmoor Country Inn. My husband and I were not looking for a religious ceremony, so we were really happy to read the following on her About page:
“I honor many philosophies, beliefs and traditions - secular, spiritual, and interfaith. However, as a Humanist Celebrant, I do not conduct worship services. I will create a wonderful and unique ceremony that respects and reflects your values, your style, and your life.”
This is EXACTLY what she did. From the first time we met Lois in person at the SCI sampling event, we knew we felt a connection with her. We worked with her over the following year to create a ceremony script that fit us perfectly. I had several people make a point to tell us how much they enjoyed our ceremony. They loved Lois’s energy and how connected she was to us and said it felt really personal with all the details about our backstory. They also really liked the spice ritual, which is an idea she introduced us to! It ended up being such a beautiful day, and we’re so glad we chose Lois to be a part of it.

Ceremony of our dreams!
Lois was the perfect choice for our wedding ceremony! The ceremony she wrote was heartfelt, personal, funny and truly embodied us as a couple. We had guests coming up to us all night commenting on how great the ceremony was. It really was perfect! We were skeptical about the ceremony choreography at first because we’d never seen it before but are so glad we trusted her with it! Being able to look out at our loved ones and embrace my husband during the ceremony was exactly what I needed. Lois listened to us, provided feedback, encouraged our ideas, and set a great tone for the rest of the evening.

Perfect ceremony
Lois was our celebrant for our wedding last month and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She worked with us to create the perfect, most meaningful ceremony with mixing of family traditions and cultures. Fantastic Experience
Lois was absolutely fantastic! She was extremely helpful when I needed assistance with writing my own vows and really took the time to make our ceremony intimate. It was exactly what we wanted. She was also very prepared. With how hectic my wedding day was I actually forgot to bring my vows to the ceremony but thankfully Lois had a copy of both of ours! Lois saved our day!
About a month and a half before our wedding day, we learned our officiant was no longer doing weddings. We were scrambling at the last second to find someone when we stumbled upon Lois. We were so lucky she was available on our date (and willing to travel out of her way for us.) I was panicking a little but Lois was so calm and professional and did not seem phased by the tight timeline at all. We met Lois via zoom and instantly knew everything was going work out wonderfully.. and it sure did! Lois had us fill out some questionnaires so she could really get to know the details of our relationship. Our ceremony was absolutely beautiful. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd. The ceremony was so unique and personal. Also, the way Lois suggests to stand is awesome. It’s great being able to see your partner and everyone in the crowd. It made it so much more special! I’m honestly so happy our first officiant canceled on us because if she had not, we wouldn’t have gotten this incredible experience with Lois. It all happens for a reason! If Lois is available for your date, I highly recommend working with her!

3/7/2015: The Best day of my life
What can I say about Lois? She is amazing! We 1st met with her only having a vague idea of what we wanted the ceremony to "look like" and entail. We clicked immediately. We spoke on many occasions about various aspects. The end result was perfect for us, our relationship and our, soon to be, marriage. With out being long and drawn out, the ceremony perfectly touched on what made us, well, us as a couple, it was touching, sometimes amusing and inclusive to the wedding party, family's and friends. To this day many attendees still tell us it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. A large part of this was the light and lovely tone set by Lois early on in the day. In short, I cant imagine my wedding being officiated by anyone else!! I am so very grateful that she played such an importantly huge role in the best day of our journey together. We are still in touch and I consider Lois to be a friend. I cannot recommend her more. If you're on the fence, just do it, you wont regret it!

"Absolutely Perfect..."
Lois is by far personable and very professional. Our "Covid Safe" ceremony was heartfelt and unique with poems from famous authors. Lois takes the time to listen to your love story to make your wedding "yours". Although our day was gray, the ceremony was perfect and as fate would have it, we were fortunate enough to have "firework sounds" to initiate the vows of forever more...!! Our Day, Our Way
We decided to elope 2 weeks ahead of time. We then realized with COVID the government building were shut down and there was a delay to get our marriage license. We kept Lois updated with these events, then 4 days before our wedding we asked her to officiate. She managed to put together a beautiful ceremony. Never meeting us (only having us fill out a quick questionnaire) and only talking on the phone for 10 minutes, she somehow made a ceremony that was perfect for us. She used quotes that would be impactful for us, followed traditions and rituals that we wanted, and made the whole day perfect. Harmony Gardens was a beautiful spot with a little gazebo for our little dance party afterwards and lots of amazing photo spots.

We met Lois through our wedding venue. She instantly stood out to us, with her warm smile and friendly, genuine demeanor. Lois took the time to listen to our story, really engage with us, and get to know us, before she wrote our ceremony. Our ceremony was absolutely perfect. Lois and I had planned together for over a year. I felt like I had known her my whole life. I remember when I found her online, I e-mailed her saying "Will you marry us?" and she contacted me within minutes and by the evening we were on the phone chatting away. She is very personable and takes her job seriously. She took our love story and turned it into a ceremony that not a single one of my guests will forget. It was unique and 100% us. Amazing from the first minute
Lois was absolutely fabulous! From the moment I spoke to her on the phone I felt so comfortable with her and I just knew she was the right person for us. Within the past 24 hour Lois officiated my brother’s wedding, which was held at the top of camelback. She arrived early to allay any last minute concerns that we have had and was able to respectfully answer questions relative to the flow of the ceremony. She did an amazing job, Lois is is a true professional, and was able to capture both the bride and groom’s unique personalities to perform a truly personal and loving ceremony, one that was talked favorably about all night. Wow, we were so impressed with Lois Heckman from her first message all the way until we left her property! She responds quickly and does her very best to accommodate you (even on short notice.) The way she tailored the ceremony "script" to our own story was incredible! How she took the extra time and creativity with this was very special. A truly wonderful celebrant

Lois was our celebrant for our ceremony and she was an absolutely delight to work with. We cannot say enough amazing things about her. She was very supportive leading up to the event as we discussed our ceremony vision and we felt she truly wanted to make our ceremony something unique for us. And that she did! People were blown away by our ceremony and we have Lois to thank for that - literally people said it was the best ceremony they have ever experienced. We wanted a personal ceremony which felt intimate but also included some important traditions (13 coins-Arras/Irish Blessings/tree planting together) and our back story of how we came about and why we love each other. Lois beautifully weaved together a narrative that honored our past/heritage, our parents, embraced the present and got us excited about our future. While the ceremony was happening, I almost pinched myself because I felt like I was in a dream because it was so perfect. Lois is authentic, loving, detailed, funny (at just the right times) and she is a very talented writer. Lois officiated our small wedding ceremony of 13 people. She was very responsive from our initial contact and throughout the entire process. She took the time to get to know us and listen to what we wanted to include in the ceremony. She provides a rough draft of the ceremony well before the wedding date and is very receptive to any changes requested. She is an eloquent speaker and we couldn't have been happier with the final outcome. Our family and friends all agreed it was the perfect ceremony. Thanks Lois!

Lois performed a wonderful ceremony for us. Our guests really enjoyed it. I am so happy we did our own vows and how it made it so much more personal for the two of us. Lois did a great job on capturing our story and sharing it with everyone, It was everything we wanted, since we wanted to keep the religious and church vibe out of it. She was very helpful along the way with any questions we had or tips to help write our vows. Her positive energy and laid back manner made it so easy to work with her and made the experience that much more enjoyable and natural on us. Thank you for that! We had a great time at our wedding and the day was everything we hoped and wanted it to be. I still can't believe how it poured for the ceremony and was gone for the cocktail hour!!!

Lois was super amazing at officiating our wedding. Took time to hear our story and learn who we are as people, integrated that perfectly into the ceremony. Very responsive and flexible when it came to any concerns we had or things we wanted to alter. Was also able to recommend a ton of different ceremony traditions (union candle, for example) which was super awesome, let us find one which was right for us. Lois is 100% QUALITY! She met with us to understand what we wanted in our ceremony and gave us lots of ideas to think about to include in our ceremony. She included the few things that we wanted in our ceremony perfectly. After reading the first draft of the ceremony, I knew we picked the best!

I loved Lois, talking to her on the phone I knew she was perfect for what we wanted. The most important part of your wedding day is the ceremony. She created a ceremony for us that included all we are, how we got to our wedding day and our vows for the future. You can not put a price on that. Remember: You have friends and family at the ceremony who may not have the opportunity to know your "love story" (cliche I know) and since you are including them in your special day let Lois help tell your story. Fyi our mothers loved their special moment of getting their flowers handed to them in the middle of the ceremony and our unity tree is being planted as we speak

She took the time to meet with us and to continue to stay in touch with us from our first meeting until the day of our wedding. We filled out a few things for her and then she transformed what we said into the most beautiful wedding ceremony. We told her that we wanted people to walk away from the ceremony and say "wow" and they absolutely did. We have gotten compliment after compliment about how great and personal our ceremony was. We couldn't have found a better celebrant than Lois! She was extremely kind, clear, and helpful throughout the planning process and was willing to work with us to make the ceremony perfect. Living across the country, we didn't even get to meet her face-to-face until the day of the wedding. However, that was never a problem at all - she was so responsive and knowledgable via phone and email that it wasn't even necessary to meet. One of the best services she offers is that she will write your ceremony speech early on and give you time to read and critique it with her until it's just the way you want it - no surprises and no stress! All I can say is that our ceremony ended up wonderful, a lot thanks to Lois. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a fun, loving, and creative celebrant to make their day perfect!

One phone call with Lois will be enough to tell you that she is extremely passionate about her work and likely the right choice for an officiant - it was for us! Lois was incredibly easy to work with and we found we had a lot in common with her. She really took the time to get to know us and wrote a custom ceremony that reflected our individual personalities and us as a couple. Lois was happy to change things when we asked her to and made a strong effort to incorporate traditions and aspects of the ceremony that reflected us and our family heritages. Her attention to detail and commitment to making our ceremony perfect left me worry free which was greatly appreciated!
We really knew we'd made the right choice in Lois when we met her in person a few months before the wedding, but that was confirmed even more when all of our guests RAVED about the ceremony. If you’re looking for a custom ceremony, then you need to contact Lois Heckman. There are so many wonderful aspects to working with Lois and having her officiate your wedding; it’s hard to decide where to begin. We knew we wanted a ceremony that was unique and shared more about our relationship, finding Lois was the perfect answer. From the 1st phone conversation, we knew Lois was the Celebrant to give us the ceremony of our dreams. She opened her home to us for our 1st meeting, to allow her to get to know us, and we to get to know her. One thing I really appreciated was something Lois said during that meeting; she doesn’t book at the first meeting, she wants the couple to sleep on it and be sure it was the right fit. It was definitely the right fit and we eagerly booked her the next day. If you’re considering a smaller celebration, located on her beautiful property is a private ceremony site, Harmony Gardens, we did not utilize this space but it is enchanting! From there, Lois requests the completion of bride & groom questionnaires to help develop a personalized ceremony; this was a little daunting to complete at first but we actually had a wonderful time reminiscing and sharing our responses after Lois provided her first draft. We were able to make as many edits as necessary (there weren’t many, Lois nailed it in the first draft). Her kit provided many suggestions on vows, unity rituals, marriage regulations, etc. Lois supported us in determining a unity ritual that perfectly matched our personalities and devoted relationship, she also offered encouraging words when moments of stress arose. Lois arrived to our venue early to ensure everything was going smoothly and to finalize our marriage certificate, her wealth of knowledge and personality is very comforting. Our guests are still raving about how wonderful the ceremony was, many have said, it’s the best ceremony they have ever witnessed. We have Lois (telling our story) to thank for that.

I am one who is not too religious, and I did not want many religious references in my ceremony. Lois was able to really work around this and she made it more spiritual, which was fantastic! My husband and I were married by Lois at her lovely Harmony Gardens area by her home...beautiful landscaping, including flowers, natural water fountain, nearby pond, large gazebo with a natural stone floor, an altar rock. Amazing experience! Lois customizes each of her ceremonies to fit every couple individually. She really appreciates the importance of each ceremony she officiates. She is very understanding, friendly, helpful, and creative - and she responds QUICKLY to any communication you send her way, whether by e-mail, phone, or regular mail. Lois was the perfect celebrant for us at our interfaith wedding on January 9, 2016. I am so glad that we met her and were able to have her officiate our wedding at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn. We initially met her at her home and talked about what we wanted our wedding to be and feel like, about our relationship and about our different faith beliefs. Lois sent us home with some paperwork and a questionnaire that we each individually filled out and then Lois somehow put all of our information together into the most touching, personalized ceremony that I could have ever imagined. Our wedding took place outdoors on a covered patio in the winter, and Lois was very professional and energetic about the experience. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and since we already had some kind of clue as to how it would go and what would be said, we weren't as nervous and could really enjoy the experience and be present in the moment. Many friends and family mentioned the wonderful job that Lois did after the ceremony and said that they really had an emotional experience during the wedding and how ours had been the best wedding ceremony they had ever attended. I believe they felt this way because of how personalized and sincere our ceremony felt to them and how perfectly Lois's words and explanations of the different faith elements she put together for us combined our two faiths (Jewish/Christian) into a cohesive ceremony that made everyone feel included.

We highly recommend Lois to any couple. From the moment we arrived at her house for our initial meeting, we felt completely comfortable. Lois’s is extremely warm and genuine. Her knowledge of traditions, cultures, quotes, etc.. is deep and extensive and while speaking with her I became increasingly excited about the possibilities for a ceremony that would reflect us & our love, and would respect everyone present. (Our families are a mix of devout Catholic & Jewish and we are both spiritual but not religious). Lois’s rule is that you don’t discuss whether you want to hire her during the initial meeting. She asks that you leave, mull it over, and discuss as a couple but the moment we left her house, we knew that we had found the perfect person.
Lois made the process clear and understandable from the beginning, helping us feel confident & organized. She is the perfect mix of professional and easygoing. She sent friendly reminders when the time was approaching for us to send her information or reflections to collaborate with her on a personal, meaningful ceremony. To say that she created the ceremony of our dreams is not sufficient -She stretched and expanded our vision so that the end result was beyond what we had envisioned.
Because of the deeply personal nature of the ceremony Lois crafted and the fact that we had read and cherished the words in the ceremony multiple times before the actual day, on our wedding day we both felt completely present, comfortable, and natural.
EVERYONE at our wedding was in awe of the ceremony. My devoutly Catholic mom recently told me it was the most perfect wedding she’s seen- especially notable coming from her, given the fact that it was not religious, nor was it in a church.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Lois. We realized after our initial meeting that our ceremony was going to be incredible and unique but it truly was beyond anything we could have imagined. She was able to blend traditions from a Scottish background and ones from a Jewish background into one amazing celebration. She really got to know my husband and I and the type of love we shared and from there, constructed a tailored ceremony that fit us and our relationship perfectly. She is a master at interfaith ceremonies (and ALL other ceremonies for that matter). We were told that there was not a dry eye in the crowd as she told our story and framed our future. She was a trusted adviser throughout our engagement and help us to write and rewrite our vows with patience and expertise. Our guests left the wedding talking about the food and the dancing but the first thing each one said to us was "that ceremony was absolutely beautiful - that celebrant is unbelievable." Lois officiated our wedding in August 2015 at Sorrenti Cherry Valley Vineyards. After we contacted her, we met her in her home to get to know each other and filled out some questionnaires. She was very open and comfortable with performing a meaningful secular ceremony. She designed the ceremony and sent us the first draft by email. She was very responsive to answering any questions we had by email and to making any changes we had to the ceremony. Actually she was the quickest to respond of any other vendor that we used for the entire wedding. On the day of the wedding, she arrived early and found me in my dressing room right away. I had a letter for a wine box ceremony that we had planned and had no idea what to do with it when I was getting ready. She was on top of it and asked to hold it for me right away. She was very calm and collected, and comfortable with what she was doing. It helped put me at ease. The ceremony was great. It was laid back, sweet, and personal. We had plenty of guests compliment Lois's style and the ceremony, telling us, "it was very you!". Overall, Lois did a great job and we would recommend her to anyone.

Working with Lois was a delight. She was flexible to the kind of ceremony we had in mind. She crafted a personal ceremony and vows that were warm, light, funny, and meaningful to us. She worked closely with us to understand what we wanted from the event and had some great suggestions
Harmony Gardens was the most perfect setting - Mother Nature at her best. One of our guests compared it to the Garden of Eden. The flowers were lovely and the pavilion was perfect for a small gathering before the ceremony. All of our friends commented on how perfectly the venue and the ceremony fit our personalities.

Lois is Wonderful!
Planning a wedding isn't the easiest thing you could do in life and thanks to Lois guiding us step by step she has made our ceremony the most beautiful, sincere, personalized and stress free ceremony you could ever have!
With her beautiful smile and positive energy Lois was not afraid of going the extra mile for us. Our wedding was in Pennsylvania and my husband and I were organizing the wedding from California, USA and London, United Kingdom. Thanks to Lois efficiency, professionalism and excellent communication we have made the communication work perfectly despite the differences in the time zone.
We can't thank Lois enough for her great work and our guests are still giving us great feedbacks on Lois and the beautiful ceremony she has given for us to this day!
If you want a memorable ceremony I would definitively recommend Lois as she is truly the Best and you won't regret it.

Lois is a wonderful Celebrant. She officiated our Wedding Ceremony on Sunday September 20th,2015 and did a great job. She is personable, smart and very easy to work with. She made the ceremony unique to us as a couple. It was a beautiful ceremony that we and our families will always remember. I recommend her to anyone wanting a unique and meaningful ceremony. Lois was incredible!!! She listened to my wife all the way through the setting up of the ceremony. My wives mother past several years ago and wanted a remembrance of her throughout the ceremony and Lois included her and our blended family. My father in law who is a catholic by faith wanted a priest to marry us but after meeting lois and witnessing the ceremony, he had nothing but positive things to say about our decision. Lois made our second wedding feel like our first. I have nothing but positives to say but thank you Lois!!!!

Lois was extremely on mark with emails, scheduling, and even suggested vows. She adds that little something that can put your mind at ease during what can be, a stressful time. Her smile and charm are very welcoming, along with her dogs. She guided us step by step and was very respectful of our beliefs. If you feel the need to have someone who is professional and still has that certain something, to make your day even more special, I would recommend you talk to her. My wife simply said, "something about her made me like her immediately. You have to talk to her".

Want an easy going, non-religious, flexible, and fun wedding officiant? Then pick Lois as we did! She was great throughout the process, she researched both of our family's heritages and incorporated them in the wedding script. Everything went smooth and pleasant. Lois married us on August 3rd 2014. She was brilliant. No detail was left out. Prior to the special day , we met several times. We shared with her some of our most precious times together and throughout the ceremony, Lois shared our 20 year love story to our guests, telling old stories and new, leading them/us to our very special day. There was lots of laughter, a few tears and a whole lot of people in awe over how Lois performed the most perfect ceremony ever. The wine ceremony was very special. (one of MANY suggestions by Lois). We wrote letters the night before our wedding, picked a special bottle of wine and box to place it in. As part of the ceremony , we placed the wine and our letters in the box, closed it and tucked it away until just last week when celebrated our one year anniversary. We opened the box, read our letters too each other, drank the wine, and shared some memories of our wedding day that Lois made possible. Even one year later, we still have people tell us that it was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever attended. We would strongly agree. If you are looking for a truly special and personalized ceremony, Lois is your lady! She will NOT disappoint !!!!

There are no words and no amount of thank yous to express our appreciation and happiness when the final product was revealed on our wedding day. We wanted a ceremony that was a true reflection of who we are as a couple and Lois gave us the most unique introduction to rest of our lives. We could not have been happier to have stumbled upon her. Lois is very passionate, friendly, outgoing, detailed, knowledgeable about many cultures/beliefs and most importantly she LOVES what she has been called to do. She was very easy to work with, dependable, reliable and easy to contact. She went above and beyond to help bring fourth everything important to us that we wanted shared during our ceremony and because of that attention to detail, she was able to create us a beautiful one of a kind ceremony that left us and our guests in awe. At the end of the evening, our family and friends raved about our ceremony and how it was so different, engaging and REAL. Our favorite compliment was, “Where did you get her from? I have never been to a wedding and enjoyed the ceremony as much as yours”. Our guests were connected, involved and were able to get a better understanding of us as individuals and as a couple. Lois has become a friend and we are very excited to involve her with our next milestone.

Lois Heckman was the absolute perfect match for my husband and I... We could not possibly be happier with the ceremony she provided for us. It was 100% tailored to our personalities, requests and desires for the most meaningful ceremony possible.. She took the time to get to know us and understand us. We wanted something very unique that no one would ever forget... something that would truly captivate people. She helped us in a tree planting ceremony and other symbolic gestures as we did not have any religious aspects to our wedding and she was able to make it as special as anyone else's. She allowed us to preview and give suggestions to the entire ceremony, which, being as I hate surprises, was perfect for me. Lois Heckman is FANTASTIC! We were so thrilled with our ceremony. All of our guests were completely moved and said she did a wonderful job at officiating. Since I am Jewish and my husband is Irish-Catholic, we were looking for an officiant (or in her case – Celebrant) who specializes in interfaith weddings and would be flexible and comfortable with including both traditions without having things be overly religious. Lois was the PERFECT fit. She completely customizes the ceremony to you and everything feels completely personal and unique. She helped critique our wedding vows and did a great job helping us prepare for all aspects of the ceremony. In fact, she even writes a script so that we know exactly what is being said and we could be confident that everything would go as planned. There was never an awkward moment. Everything felt well prepared, yet still natural. We highly recommend her services to all brides/grooms whether they want a ceremony with or without religious aspects. THANK YOU SO MUCH LOIS!!!

I was married recently by Lois Heckman at a property that she & her husband maintain near their house called Harmony Gardens. I could not have asked for a better place to be married or a better officiant. Lois helped to make our day special and for that I am so thankful. She allowed us to bring in decor to hang from the pergola & a table so that we could do a wine toast & cake cutting ceremony. She also has a space for the bride or groom and whoever is with them to relax before the wedding and she also allowed me to get dressed there. We originally were just going to have my husband and myself but my parents and youngest brother really wanted to be a part of the day. Lois provided chairs and was very nice to everyone. She really took the time to get to know us through e-mail, a questionnaire, and in person so that she could completely customize the ceremony. That was so special to us and it really made our day about our relationship, our love, and our friendship. She even sent me a copy of the finished ceremony after the wedding so I can keep it for a memento. Her venue can accommodate a decent amount of people or she also travels. If you really want a ceremony that is personal, beautiful, and meaningful then I totally recommend that you use Lois Heckman. She is amazing!!!!!

Katie and I were so fortunate to have Lois be our celebrant for our wedding. We, like so many other couples, wanted someone who understood our values and was able to create a personal ceremony that reflected our beliefs. This is no easy task but Lois rose above the challenge.
Lois makes you feeling at ease from the first meeting. She creates a ceremony that reflects the love and happiness of the couple. Every detail is personalized. She incorporated quotes from musicians that we enjoy and included nods to our family's backgrounds. Lois provides you with a list of vows, ring vows, and an array of traditional ceremonies that can be performed during your ceremony. This helped us begin to create our ceremony and Lois then took it from there.
There was not a dry eye in the house during the ceremony. She made it so personal and everyone felt like a part of the ceremony. Afterwards everyone commented on how personal the ceremony was and how they really felt like Lois' words captured our love story. We could not have been more satisfied.

WE LOVE LOIS. Seriously, I could stop my review right there. My now husband and I knew she was the one for us as soon as we met her, we just hit it off and had a great feeling about her. Lois Heckman is an amazingly intelligent, caring and eclectic human being with a vast array of knowledge on all types of religions but also pretty much anything else you'd like to talk to her about. I believe this combination of traits makes her such an excellent celebrant as she's really able to tap into what each couple is about. Lois is able to make YOUR ceremony just that...YOURS. It is not generic, it is what you want it to be and ours turned out just as we'd hoped. All of our guests commented on what a fantastic, loving and interesting ceremony it was and that it really was a perfect reflection of us as a couple. Lois was responsive, professional and an absolute joy to work with. She answered all of our questions about mundane things like the marriage license process with ease which made things so much better. I would highly recommend her.

My husband and I cannot thank Lois enough for a beautiful wedding ceremony. We knew our family and friends would be touched by her words, but had no idea her ceremony would be the highlight of the entire wedding (which is how a wedding should be!) Lois tailored our wedding ceremony to fit us perfectly. Every detail spoke to who my husband and I truly are on the inside. This can only happen with an officiant like Lois because she takes the time to know every couple she marries. She listened to what was important to us; she shared personal stories about our relationship and family during the ceremony making the experience so special.
When our guests talk about our wedding the first thing they say is, "And that officiant - what a beautiful ceremony!" It is so easy to get caught up in the little things when planning a wedding and forget about what really matters. Finding and working with Lois was truly a pleasure! From the first time we met with her, up until our wedding day, she was kind, helpful, responsive, and relaxed. Look no further for your wedding celebrant...there isn't anyone better than Lois Heckman! My husband and I wanted our wedding ceremony to be a special reflection of who were were as individuals and as a couple. From my first phone conversation with Lois, I just knew she was a perfect fit for us. She was warm, open, and immediately made me feel at ease. She was interested in our entire story, and was clearly dedicated to making our ceremony perfect. It was wonderful to learn that she would create as many drafts of our ceremony as necessary, until we felt it was just right.
When my husband and I met Lois in person, we had a wonderful time. She welcomed us into her home and took the time to really get to know us. She listened to our needs and wishes, but also offered awesome suggestions to help fulfill our vision. While we are both not religious people, my family observes Judaism and my husband's family observes Christianity. We wanted to find ways to incorporate traditions from each side. Lois suggested beautiful ways to honor our parents, such as having my mother read a Jewish blessing and my mother-in-law read a Christian prayer. In the end, our parents all told us they felt very special and included. Prior to the wedding, Lois created a set of questions that she had us answer. The questions were thought-provoking, helping both me and my husband verbalize why we were getting married and what we truly loved about each other. In the end, the questionnaire helped Lois get to know us on another level, and made our ceremony that much more personal.
Lois was easy to communicate with throughout the entire process, and was open to any and all input from us. She masterfully sorted through all of the information we gave her. In the end, we truly couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, eloquent, and personalized ceremony. We are so grateful to Lois for giving us the ceremony of our dreams.

My husband and I loved Lois from the moment we met her. She asked a lot of questions to understand us as a couple better and get a feel for what our needs and wants were. One of the hardest parts of planning our wedding was finding an officiant. We tried both priests and rabbis - but noone connected with us as well as Lois. From our first phone call when we were lucky enough to find her, we knew she was the one! She was professional, intelligent and really cared about making our ceremony unique and personal. When I found Lois and her beautiful venue online, my gut told me she'd be a perfect fit for us. When Don and I met her, my instincts were immediately confirmed. Lois has such a warm, earthy spirit about her that drew us right in. She made everything so easy and enjoyable and really took the time to get to know us and what we wanted out of our ceremony. Her suggestions were on point, as well as her openness to our own ideas. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. What a blessing it was to have found her. My husband and I can't thank Lois enough for amazing ceremony she wrote for us! We knew Lois was the celebrant for us as soon as we met her. It is clear that Lois is passionate about her job (our wedding was on her birthday and she was still excited to be with us), and we knew right away that she would work until we had the perfect words for our ceremony. Lois took the time to find out who we are, what we care about, and what we value about each other. She sculpted our ceremony around our feelings and beliefs and was willing to email back and forth with us to do as many edits as we wanted as she wrote. Lois always got right back to us with changes.
Our ceremony was unforgettable, and we received compliments from all our guests on our personalized vows & wedding message. If you want an ceremony that truly reflects who you are and what your relationship is all about, Lois can give that to you!

Lois is wonderful! My husband and I knew from the moment we met her that she would be perfect to officiate our wedding. Throughout the year we worked together, Lois provided information, feedback, and endless assistance and guidance. After the ceremony, our guests told us this was the most creative, unique, and special ceremony they have ever seen. Lois created this for us!

If you are looking for a unique wedding ceremony that's personalized to you, Lois is definitely your best bet!! I think my ceremony was my favorite part of my wedding!! I had so many compliments about the ceremony and I had friends even ask me for her contact info :-). I loved working with Lois and it was definitely worth every penny.

When my husband and I started the wedding planning process, one of the things I was most nervous about was finding an officiant. Neither of us are religious and we didn't want a generic ceremony that didn't fit us. We wanted a light-hearted, memorable ceremony that was also meaningful and special and were worried that finding someone who could strike that balance was going to be an impossible task. With all of our other vendors, our coordinator recommended multiple options for each; for officiant, she said “I’m only giving you one name. Contact Lois Heckman and see if she’s available; I think you guys would be perfect for each other. If she’s not available, then we’ll figure something else out.” Thankfully, Lois was available and, we knew shortly after meeting her that we wanted her to marry us.
Lois spends a lot of time getting to know her couples. She asks a lot of questions and takes a ton of notes. We had homework to do for her - a series of questions that we each had to answer. She incorporated the ideas we talked about during our meeting, the rituals we wanted to do, and the answers we gave in our questionnaires to craft a ceremony completely unique to us as a couple. And then we worked on it together: My husband and I edited it and then sent it back to her for more edits until everyone was completely happy with it.
On the day of the wedding, everything flowed so well. Even though I knew she was reading exactly what we had written, it never once sounded like she was just reading. Lois was fantastic at giving us clear cues during the ceremony about where we needed to be and what we needed to do when - which meant for a more relaxed rehearsal and less to remember on the day of. I loved our ceremony so much - it told our story and it reflected us so well. Thank you, Lois for taking something we were so worried about and turning it into such a great experience!

Lois was an amazing celebrant for our wedding. We knew we wanted to get married in the Poconos, and she came highly recommended from our wedding venue. When we contacted Lois about officiating our wedding, she insisted that we meet her in her home so that she could get to know us as a couple. After our trip to her house, we knew she was the one! Our ceremony was so personal and unique, and we got so many compliments on what a wonderful job Lois did from our wedding guests. Even when it started to rain during our ceremony, Lois didn't panic, and she made sure we got through the ceremony before the downpour. She also attended our rehearsal, even though she had family visiting from out of town. Thank you for a truly memorable ceremony, Lois!

My husband and I were worried about finding an officiant who could conduct a meaningful but non religious ceremony. When I first spoke with Lois, she was reassuring and listened to my concerns. Our first meeting was so enjoyable - my husband and I felt comfortable speaking to her openly, and we didn't want to leave! Once we saw the written ceremony, were were ecstatic - it was beautiful. The day of the wedding, I was running late and I was very anxious before the ceremony - but Lois, in her calm and comforting ways, reminded me to enjoy the moment. She performed the ceremony flawlessly, and we received so much positive feedback. Lois is a beautiful person, and truly a pleasure to work with!
