Phenomenal all around!

Looking for a wedding officiant can be nerve-racking because they play such an important role in one of the biggest days of your life. Then we met Melody.

From our very first conversation, Melody brought not only years of experience but also a sense of confidence, warmth, and genuine care that immediately put us at ease. We couldn't imagine moving forward with anyone else.

During our second meeting, she took the time to learn about our story, thoughtfully taking notes and asking questions that showed how much she cared about making our ceremony personal. She then beautifully incorporated those details into a ceremony that was uniquely ours.

There was laughter, there were tears, and most importantly, there was a genuine connection. Our guests could not stop talking about how meaningful the ceremony was and how Melody's words brought everyone together and set the tone for the entire evening. Some of our guests had never met before, yet by the end of the ceremony, it felt as though everyone was celebrating as a group of old friends because Melody had made them feel like they truly knew us.

Our guests said this was the most touching ceremony!

My husband and I are beyond pleased with our officiant, Melody Porter, and our ceremony (especially the homily). My husband and I come from different religious backgrounds and both identify as agnostic now. Prior to writing our ceremony, Melody met with us in person and asked very thoughtful questions to get to know us better and to understand our preferences (including the use of religious language). She then drafted the ceremony and sent it to us for feedback, without the homily (this was going to be a surprise!). Melody is very receptive to and open to revisions and, based on her conversation with us, had really crafted the ceremony to be very customized to us. The ceremony and homily were so thoughtful and touching. We were so moved by how she articulated our story and shared it with our guests. Many of our guests said the ceremony was the best they had ever been to, and it was the favorite part of our wedding day. We highly recommend Melody to officiate your wedding!

The most intimate, fun, and captivating ceremony!

Melody is simply wonderful, and hiring her was easily one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Melody delivered the most heartfelt, humorous, captivating, and personal ceremony we could have ever dreamed of. She truly has a special gift.

Melody has an incredibly warm, kind, and calming presence. We met with her in person, and she spent over an hour just listening intently to our story, asking incredibly thoughtful questions, and taking diligent notes. She even had us submit separate answers about what we love about each other to ensure the ceremony was personal.

We gave her minimal guidance, we wanted a modern ceremony that had some spiritual rather than religious elements, and she took that vision and ran with it brilliantly. She was super flexible and allowed us to make any changes to the script well in advance, ensuring we were 100% happy. She wrote the homily herself, and it was so fun listening to her beautifully unfold our love story from the beginning. Our guests were laughing, crying, and completely drawn in by her words. We received numerous compliments, with guests immediately asking for her information for their own upcoming weddings.

Melody's ability to capture each of our personalities was incredible, and we truly wouldn't change a single aspect. It was the highlight of our wedding, and we will cherish it for the rest of our lives. If you want a knowledgeable, kind-hearted, calming, and personal officiant, look no further than Melody.

A Truly Unforgettable Officiant!

Couldn’t have asked for a better officiant. Melody made everything so personal that many of our guests thought she was a close friend. She told our story in such a beautiful way, we half-joked it might have a shot as a major motion picture!

In all seriousness - if you want someone who goes above and beyond the already high expectations for your big day, look no further.

Absolutely Amazing Officiant — We Can’t Recommend Enough!

We could not have asked for a better officiant for our wedding! From the start, Melody took the time to truly get to know us and our story, and it showed in every word of our ceremony. It was personal, heartfelt, and beautifully written—without ever feeling forced. We were too nervous to write our own vows, but she somehow captured exactly who we are as a couple and made everyone (including us!) tear up.

Beyond the ceremony itself, Melody was professional, upbeat, and such a calming presence throughout the day. She handled everything with grace—even when our dog decided to crash the ceremony! Their warmth, humor, and attention to detail made the experience unforgettable.

The service was absolutely worth every penny. We can’t recommend Melody highly enough—if you want a ceremony that feels genuine, meaningful, and perfectly you, Melody is the one.

Simply Perfect

Melody was simply excellent, from our initial meeting with her over coffee, to the responsiveness of her communication leading up to the big day, to her filling our ceremony with love and laughter. She also performed a family handfasting ceremony with my husband's two daughters to symbolize the binding of our family. She was thoughtful and professional, dedicated and invested. She made us feel like a priority throughout, and she felt like part of our family by the time of the ceremony. We had so many of our friends and family tell us it was the most beautifully done ceremony they have ever attended, and we attribute that to her. We cannot recommend Melody highly enough!

Melody was such an amazing officiant. Rarely do I hear guests complimenting how great the ceremony/officiant was — and that’s all we heard about all cocktail hour! Melody delivered such a personalized, kind, heartfelt speech. Her energy is warm and positive, and was perfect for a wedding ceremony!

Melody made our day so special

I’ve been to a fair number of weddings and I’ve never had a strong opinion on the officiant one way or the other. I had no reason to think it would be different at my own wedding; I conducted a cursory google search and found a person who had good reviews that we could afford. What happened next is that Melody completely blew us away. Her professionalism; the genuine care with which she approached our working relationship; her humor—all of these things made massive contributions to the most wonderful parts of our wedding day. I would recommend Melody to anyone who prioritizes a thoughtful, meaningful wedding ceremony for themselves and their guests.

Highly Recommend!

I always knew I wanted a female officiant for our wedding. Melody was the first one I saw in the Richmond area that seemed to fit our needs. She was very quick to respond to emails and very professional in our interactions. She is flexible in helping us figure out what we wanted said during the ceremony. She has a religious background, but was great at finding alternative changes if needed. She personalized our ceremony very well, and we got plenty of compliments on our choice of officiant from wedding guests. We highly recommend Melody!

Two of the most popular question asked throughout the wedding night were "was your Officiant a family friend" and "have you known your Officiant long?" Melody made the ceremony so personal and perfect that everyone thought she had known us our whole lives. She is sweet and easy to work with. Best Officiant We Came Across! Captures warmth and heart

Amazing Melody!!

I cannot recommend Melody enough! I was worried at first not having an officiant that I knew personally or I was close with. I had an initial phone call with Melody and she was so warm and understanding! After the phone call she met my fiancé and me for coffee where she asked us very detailed questions to get to know us and our story. Following our meeting she sent us a draft of our ceremony that we were able to review and make sure we felt comfortable with. When it came to the day of our ceremony she knocked it out of the park! It was so special and personal to my fiancé and me. I had multiple people tell me after my ceremony that it was the most meaningful and best ceremony they had ever seen.

Melody was perfect!

Melody Porter went above and beyond in making the ceremony amazing! If we had an opportunity to plan our wedding 100 more times we would choose Melody every time! Best Decision We Made

I found Melody on WW after scrolling through a series of bios. I connected with her background as a Methodist minister, because I am Methodist, and quickly realized there was so much more.
When we met with Melody for introductions, it was like catching up with an old friend. She is warm and sincere, and we found ourselves opening up and sharing many more personal details about ourselves than we’d expected. She listened, captured our story and then when our wedding day came around, she had crafted the most beautiful and perfectly fitting ceremony and homily… it was tailored just for us. I truly cannot thank Melody enough for helping to make our wedding day so special. I hope others can benefit from her gifts as well!

Reverend Porter Exceeded Our Already High Expectations

I cannot recommend Melody Porter enough. We were hesitant because we just found her online and did not know her personally, but we went with her because she had many positive reviews; and we are beyond thankful that we did!

Melody took time to get to know me and my (now) wife and I truly believe that she crafted a beautiful ceremony that told our story better than I would have been able to myself. Many of our guests commented that our ceremony was one of the most meaningful that they had ever been to. She was always respectful and professional - responding to all of our questions quickly and communicating with our planner as well. She talked with us about what we expected out of our ceremony and was open and receptive to our feedback. She put our minds at ease by verifying our wedding date and time beforehand - and showed up to the wedding early and checked in to make sure that we were doing alright.

Melody is a truly genuine and well spoken person. Although this was not one of our requirements when we were searching for an officiant, it meant that we had a great time working with her; before, during, and after the ceremony. Despite being one of the least expensive parts of our Wedding, she easily provided the most value. I don’t think that there is anyone else that would have been able to provide us with a better ceremony. Thank you Melody!!

Melody was the officiant at my daughters wedding and when we decided to get married, finding her availability was our first thought. Melody has a unique gift of making each marriage ceremony personal and intimate by asking questions and listening well which results in all the guests feeling like they know your story better. An unforgettable ceremony - thanks to Melody!

Wow - there are hardly any words that will describe our gratitude for Melody. My now-husband and I struggled to think of someone we knew who could officiate our wedding. At first, we were sad we didn’t have someone to make it personal to us. And then, we remember Melody from a friend’s wedding. We loved her warmth and remembering feeling really touched during her ceremony for them. So, we sought our Melody for our wedding. She was kind, professional, and responsive in all of our email communications. When we had to postpone our May 2020 date, she was understanding and accommodating (more than once!). Then, we our 2021 date finally arrived, we were blown away. Melody delivered the most thoughtful, touching, and meaningful ceremony I have ever heard. She gathered and picked up on so much poignant information about us from our Zoom call session and a few emails with her. So many of our guests were teary-eyed and have called it the best ceremony they had ever seen. Melody blew us away on every level and we will treasure and cherish her words forever. We also especially enjoyed the perfect balance of religion she brought in. Melody was also kind enough to let us drop off our marriage certificate at her home since we forgot to bring it to our ceremony. She is such a gift and incredible person! 100% Recommend!

We were so lucky to have Melody officiate our September 2020 wedding! First of all, she is a lovely person - she has a very warm, calming presence that was an enormous comfort in the chaos of the planning process and the nerves of the actual wedding day. She was very accommodating to our requests for a non-religious ceremony that still acknowledged the togetherness of the day and a greater force in our lives. Her communication and responsiveness was also great - we had a pre-meeting so she could get to know us, then she sent multiple drafts of the ceremony to allow us to fine-tune exactly what we wanted to communicate.

An important note - our wedding was originally planned for April 2020, but of course had to be rescheduled due to COVID. Melody was immediate to respond to our requests to reschedule, and was able to accommodate our new date without any problem. She was so flexible and understanding, which made a very stressful and unthinkable situation much easier on us. We 100% recommend her and are so grateful to have worked with her ourselves!

Amazing and beautiful ceremony!

Melody was super accommodating and a pleasure to work with! Through discussions together and individual interviews, she went above and beyond to understand our story and weave it through a beautiful ceremony that balanced religion with our commitment to each other. She provided a draft of the ceremony ahead of time, made time for our mothers to perform a reading, and even added an extra passage we weren't expecting. A wonderful ceremony

Melody was the best officiant we could have asked for. She really took the time to get to know us and our story and wrote a special homily for us with her thorough notes. Our entire family loved the ceremony - it was warm, witty and had many personalized touches. Beautiful ceremony

My husband and I received many compliments on the ceremony Melody performed for us. I knew from our first Zoom meeting she was a great fit for us. She took our love story and worked it into the ceremony. She met with us a couple of times to learn our story and what we wanted for our ceremony. She was extremely friendly and easy to work with. Perfect Ceremony!

We heard about Melody from our wedding planner, but once we spoke to Melody on the phone, we knew she was going to be the perfect officiant for us. My husband is religious but I am not so we wanted a personalized but semi-religious ceremony. Melody delivered exactly what we wanted. She sent us a draft of the ceremony a few weeks prior for us to go over and make changes if needed. She also asked about how we met and personal questions about our relationship that she incorporated into the ceremony. It was perfect. We received so many compliments about the ceremony and still are 2 weeks later! Highly recommend Melody!!

One of a kind!

We had Melody officiate our ceremony in August of 2019 and we could not have dreamed of anyone better! She was so flexible with our tricky work schedules during the planning process, which was a huge relief. She was able to craft a ceremony that had the perfect amount of religious undertones for my family, but not so much that my husband and I (who are not religious) felt uncomfortable. She told our story to the guests in such a wonderful way and if I'm being honest, both my husband and I had tears of joy for the *whole* ceremony because of this. I got so many complements on the ceremony from many of my guests that it was one of the most beautiful and perfect ceremonies they'd ever been to. Melody was a fantastic choice and I'd pick her again and again -- and I recommend that you do, too!!

Amazing experience!

My fiance and I had an amazing experience with Melody! Absolutely Perfect

My fiance and I reached out to Melody because we had read such wonderful reviews, and after an amazing experience with her I just knew I had to add to her list. From our very first conversation with Melody, we both felt to at ease. She made the whole process manageable. Just a few short conversations with us and she was able to write the most beautiful and personal ceremony. A Beautiful and Memorable Ceremony

My husband, Carlos, and I got married in Powhatan, VA, but since we live in San Francisco we had limited knowledge of wedding officiants in the area. We were looking first and foremost for someone we would trust and feel comfortable with, and also were hoping to find someone who could help us create a ceremony that had spiritual undertones but was not explicitly religious. From our very first email and Skype conversations I could tell Melody's warmth, eloquence, and calming energy would be a perfect fit for the wedding ceremony we wanted.

During our consultation call, it was absolutely lovely to take a pause from wedding planning to talk with Melody about our relationship - how we met, what we love about one another, what our joys and challenges have been, and what we're dreaming for our future together. As we then planned the ceremony script via email, she was deeply attentive to every word. Our stipulations were that Jesus and the patriarchy must be absent from the ceremony, so she was spot on with things like planning to have a congregational blessing of the marriage rather than a "giving away of the bride" by my father, and making prayers and blessings very openly spiritual. The homily she delivered was absolutely beautiful, and though there was definitely room for smiles and laughter, all our family and friends said there was hardly a dry eye among the congregation. Despite having just met us, Melody's sensitivity and empathy definitely made our ceremony feel extremely personal. We couldn't be more grateful for her work.

Melody took our ceremony to a whole other level

I cannot put into words how grateful we are to have found Melody for our wedding day. First off, she is extremely easy and fun to work with. Talking about why you love your partner and telling your story can be a very intimate thing and Melody made us feel so comfortable. Secondly, it was extremely important to us was that our ceremony reflect who we are as a couple and while she is Rev Melody Porter our ceremony was mostly non-traditional ..and she nailed it. We have heard from multiple guests that it was the best and most genuine ceremony they have seen. For two people who weren’t really sure what they wanted their ceremony to look like (other than getting married of course) Melody made it incredible.

I cannot recommend Melody enough! She was amazing from start to finish.

My husband and I wanted a non-religious ceremony that was meaningful and representative of us and our relationship. We also wanted to be inclusive our families' beliefs and ensure that our ceremony did not downplay or detract from the significance of marriage. Melody took the time to get to know us and understand our desire to balance these aspects. She was professional, prompt, wonderfully helpful, and attentive during the planning process. Moreover, my husband and I genuinely liked her and felt a connection to her as a person. Her warm, calm and easy manner made everything from the first phone call and "getting to know you" meeting to standing in front of our family and friends to say our vows stress-free and easy.

As for the actual ceremony, Melody truly tailored it to us, weaving in our story as well as some of responses to the questions she had sent us to answer separately. It was sweet, funny, and deeply personal. She made the most meaningful part of our wedding day also one of the best. Our guests laughed and cried along with my husband and I. Several told us afterward that the ceremony was their favorite part of the wedding.

A Truly Unique and Wonderful Ceremony

Melody wrote and performed a ceremony that was beautiful beyond our expectations. She truly captured the spirit of the day and tailored the ceremony to our specific relationship.

Truly magical ceremony

My husband and I had been together for over 12 years before our wedding. It was hard to imagine what our ceremony would be like - how do you summarize such a long relationship in 20 minutes? We aren't religious, but really wanted something meaningful. As difficult as all of this seemed to us, Melody surpassed all expectations. She was a calming presence and gave such a personal and sweet homily. She understood our desire for something formal, but not overly religious. Having Skyped with her and then met her once in person, we knew she would do a fabulous job. What we did not expect was to both be in tears throughout the ceremony! But her words really moved us and started off our night of celebration with love and gratitude. She sent each of us some questions to answer separately and included some of our responses in the homily. We don't often get a chance to articulate how much we mean to each other and this was such a meaningful and unexpected way to do so. We did not expect to enjoy our ceremony as much as we did, but Melody made it one of the best parts of our wedding day! I cannot recommend her services enough.

Melody is Magical

As my now-husband and I were discussing our wedding plans, we knew we wanted our ceremony to be meaningful and personal, with the warmth and lightheartedness of a close friend officiating, non-religious, but with the sanctity of a religious ceremony. As soon as Melody agreed to officiate our ceremony, I stopped worrying about wedding planning. I knew that the ceremony would be all these things and more, and that the other wedding details wouldn’t matter as much. I knew this because I’ve known Melody for years, and I can’t think of anyone more warm and genuine, who puts more care into learning people’s stories and understanding where they find meaning.

Melody took the time to get to know us and our relationship, asking great questions over fun, lighthearted conversation, and also giving us questions to answer separately, so that we would hear each other’s responses for the first time at the ceremony. She used this information to craft a beautiful homily that she read during the ceremony. I loved seeing our families laugh and cry, and watching my husband fight back tears as Melody described the things I love most about him. Melody sent us a copy of the homily after the ceremony, which we will cherish for years to come.

My husband, who met Melody for the first time this year, wants to note that Melody made the entire process so fun and easy. Melody was so encouraging with our ideas and flexible with our last-minute additions. She even coordinated with each of our family members to give their blessings. It required no work at all on our part to achieve the ceremony of our dreams. We didn’t even write our own vows. We had fully intended to, but as I read the “placeholder” vows Melody had written in the draft ceremony out loud to my husband, I couldn’t get through them without welling up with emotion. They were perfect. Melody is magical, and I strongly believe hiring her is the best decision anyone could make for their wedding day.

Melody was so easy to work with. Melody was a pleasure to deal with. In no time at all, we both felt like she really knew us as people and intrinsically understood our relationship. She asked her questions in a thoughtful way, genuinely listened to our answers and shaped the ceremony and her remarks exactly in line with the tone and tenor of our exchanges. We found Melody by sleuthing through reviews on various wedding sites. Following a brief Skype meeting, we knew with certainty Melody was the officiant we wanted to work with. As our wedding neared, we met with her for roughly an hour and left feeling like we had just shared coffee with a longtime friend. Following the meeting, Melody emailed a few questions for my husband and myself to answer privately to her to be incorporated into the ceremony. We really appreciated this, as in the pre-wedding bustle, it served a secondary purpose to make us stop and reflect upon our relationship. Before the wedding, we received a portion of the ceremony to proof, but the homily remained a surprise.

Melody has such a calming presence and was an absolute joy to have with us leading up to and during the wedding day. I knew I would struggle to make it through vows we wrote without becoming emotional. At the same time, we weren’t excited about doing a canned vow exchange. Once again, Melody effortlessly helped us to strike a happy medium and craft a ceremony that said everything we wanted, while including perfectly timed moments of comic relief. The homily she crafted was so personal, witty, and heartfelt that it left many of our guests - including our own parents - assuming she was an old friend.

People commented throughout the evening that they normally think of the wedding ceremony as being a formality to “get through” in order to get to the fun of the reception, but that our ceremony changed their minds and helped them feel connected not only to us, but our other guests, as well. Other comments included one person saying he didn’t cry at his own wedding, but he shed more than a few happy tears at ours. Multiple guests commented it was hands down the best ceremony they had ever been to. Melody was AMAZING and one of the absolute best decisions we made. She made our day so special and we can’t recommend her highly enough.

Melody is simply the best! We weren't affiliated with any particular church in town, but we wanted a professional, someone with experience, to officiate our wedding, rather than relying on a friend or family member. Well, Melody is the ultimate professional, but she might as well have been a friend or family member - that is how personal and heartfelt our ceremony was. Right off the bat, we could tell that Melody really wanted to get to know us as a couple, to get to know our values, our personalities, and what we wanted for our ceremony. She had great suggestions, and did all of the work of putting the ceremony together thoughtfully, but she was also completely open to customizing everything and never pressured us to include or not include anything in particular. The end result was a ceremony that was completely "us" - it was heartfelt, funny, but also serious at the right times. I get choked up just thinking back to it! So many of our guests commented to us that our ceremony was their favorite part of the entire day, that they really enjoyed how personal it was and they loved hearing our story. They couldn't believe that we had only met Melody a few months before the wedding -
it seemed like she had known us for years. Also really important - Melody has a great speaking voice and presence. She has a very calming voice and way about her, but at the same time, she is able to command the attention of the entire audience and really captivate people. We just can't say enough great things about her, and we fully recommend her to anyone looking to have a really meaningful and personalized wedding ceremony!

Melody was truly a God send for our wedding. We wanted something personal but didn't have a minister in the Richmond area that knew us as a couple yet. I had read reviews about how Melody can make it seem like she's known you forever, and that was absolutely true on our wedding day. We met with Melody once and it felt like she told our story on our wedding day better than either of us could. Multiple guests told us that it was the best ceremony they had ever been to. The homily that she put together was beautiful and she put us both at ease saying our own vows as well. I knew from the moment I got engaged that Melody was the one I wanted to officiate our wedding. Melody is an insightful, eloquent, and warm person and it shows in how she crafted our ceremony and delivered the homily. It is absolutely no surprise to me that reviews of her as an officiant are overwhelmingly positive. My fiance and I met with Melody and she took notes as she got to know us as a couple and gave us homework to answer several questions separately. We made very few changes to the draft of the ceremony she sent us because she used language we felt comfortable with. She even gave us some suggestions for readings based on what I had been looking for. Melody is one of the kindest, most genuine people my wife and I have ever met. From our initial consultation to our continuing email exchanges, texts, and calls, communication was always completely open and comfortable from start to finish. Melody told our love story beautifully at our wedding last month! On the first phone call I remember talking with her felt so calming during the stress of the vendor search. When we sat down with her at first, we didn't know how we wanted the ceremony to go or what was right for us. We just sat down, talked to her about all our relationship, answered her questions, and somehow she turned our words into exactly what we envisioned on our big day. It was funny, sweet, and emotional all at the same time! Melody was absolutely amazing! My husband and I come from two different cultural and religious backgrounds and we wanted someone who would respect both of our beliefs while still providing a more "Western" ceremony. She did such a beautiful job really listening to us and putting together a personal, heartfelt ceremony. We came from having a long, very traditional and grand Hindu ceremony in the morning and I was nervous that our Western/Christian ceremony in the afternoon would be overshadowed. Instead, she provided us such a beautiful and emotional ceremony that I think about on a daily basis! We got so many compliments from family and friends after the fact and many thought we had known Melody for years based on how warmly she spoke about us! She was extremely easy to work with, meeting with us via FaceTime as well as in person to get to know us better and was extremely responsive and flexible when it came to making any edits to our ceremony leading up to the big day. She was one of the easiest vendors we worked with and I would hire her again in a heartbeat!

I would HIGHLY recommend having Melody as your officiant. The ceremony she put together was definitely one of the best aspects of our wedding. When talking to people at the wedding and after it, a common theme was how much everyone enjoyed it. Multiple people said it was the most personal ceremony they had heard and that they felt it really represented us as a couple. We wanted something that wasn't cookie cutter and was more a description of "us" and she definitely delivered on that!

As far as working with her, she was very accommodating and responsive and made the process very easy. She'll probably ask to meet up with you to ask you a bunch of questions about your relationship. I would suggest really opening up as much as possible with this because the details will be included in the ceremony - which made it funny and heartwarming. We laughed for a good part of it and it made for a fun start to the evening and a nice feel-good vibe between all the friends and family.

Overall, really can't say enough good things about her - if you value the ceremony aspect of the wedding, you will not regret the decision to book with her. Thanks so much Melody for making it a great day for us!

Melody was amazing to work with from the first consultantation to the end of pur ceremony. We had a small, intimate ceremony on the beach (not to mention Melody woke up at 4am and drove to us for our 7:15am ceremony at the beach!) and wanted something written that was very personalized and reflected what we were looking for. Melody asked very detailed questions about my wife and I during the process, and was very responsive to our changes while also offering very good advice on the flow of the ceremony and making it very specific to who we are as a couple. When we recieved the draft of the service, my wife and I could not make it through without crying because it was so beautifully written. Our guests were very impressed and many of them told us that it was the best written and most personal wedding ceremony the've ever heard. We keep having to re-read the ceremony over and over again because its amazing, and hiring Melody was one of the best decisons we made!

All the reviews are true. Melody gave us the most happy, heartfelt, personal, humorous, and well timed ;) wedding ceremony ever. We had to plan our wedding from Colorado, but Melody was always available to Facetime and very responsive over email. All my husband and I knew was that we wanted a ceremony that was spiritual vs religious, and personal to us and our story. Melody took that very little guidance and ran! She drafted a ceremony that flowed well and involved all of our guests too. I was so excited to hear the homily she prepared on our wedding day and it was absolutely perfect. I've heard numerous compliments from our guests about our officiant, including a friend who said she cried at our wedding even when she didn't cry at her own. Melody is wonderful! It may sound strange, but on top of her sweet personality, calm demeanor, and attention to detail we also loved that her voice was particularly soothing. My now husband and I liked that we found her voice and demeanor to be relaxing! It helped to calm the nerves we had because we knew a lot of people would be watching us exchange vows and kiss. You would never think how someone talks is very important, but for this job it is! Her voice is the one marrying you. She gave a personalized homily at our ceremony that came from questions we answered privately to her. Melody was absolutely wonderful. My husbands father passed away just weeks before our wedding, and Melody was very kind and patient with us because we were in and out of town and often unable to get back to her just as quickly as she did with us. She incorporated our love for my husbands father beautifully into the wedding, and her words were so wonderful. The whole ceremony was better than I could have ever imagined. Nearly everyone at the wedding commented on how wonderful she was, and asked me how long we had known her as she captured our story so accurately and beautifully. I absolutely recommend Melody, thank you so much!

My husband and I are so incredibly happy we chose Melody to officiate our wedding. She made the ceremony so intimate, interesting, and fun. Everyone was totally captivated by her words, and happy tears were flowing. She is confident, peaceful, and simply wonderful to be around. I wouldn't change a single aspect of the readings or vows. We will cherish every moment of our ceremony for the rest of our lives.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Melody. My now-husband and I aren't religious; it was important to us that our ceremony be about our love for each other and our love for our friends and family. Our first thought was to have a friend officiate, but that proved to be difficult to arrange in Virginia. I thought we would have to give up on having a ceremony that felt personal if we used an officiant, but then we found Melody. Right from our first phone call, I could tell that we had found exactly what we were looking for. Her approach to planning our ceremony was extremely thoughtful, and it was clear that it was just important to her as it was to us to make our ceremony exactly what we wanted. Melody is a very warm person who truly does live for love, so it was an unexpectedly special experience just planning the ceremony through her questions for us. We even had a couple of friends write to her so that she could learn more about us from someone other than us. On the day of, Melody put us at ease, and she helped and our guests feel present in the moment. Melody did such an amazing job weaving our story together that several guests commented that they felt they knew us better because of the ceremony. She helped make our day joyous and special, and I'll forever feel grateful that she was a part of our wedding.

Melody took the time to get to know us and created a wonderful ceremony for us. We couldn't have been happier. Melody is a warm person, and she was very accommodating, working with us to get wording of things exactly as we wanted.

Melody was so very helpful with the process and she really does put her love and faith into the ceremony. She is a very personable, passionate person and she listened to our story and used it to create the perfect ceremony and even had the guests laughing. Even though I was way more nervous than my now husband she came to the room to practice right before the ceremony and calmed all of my nerves.

Melody did a fantastic job with our ceremony. She was very accommodating to the style we wanted, the people we wanted to be able to participate and kept us updated throughout her whole planning process. Melody allowed us to be as involved as we wanted in developing the script for the ceremony and really did an amazing job making our thoughts and feelings come through for everyone there. She helped everything run smoothly at the rehearsal and the ceremony went flawlessly. I would highly recommend Melody as a wedding officiant!

Wow! Where do I begin? My wife and I were under a lot of pressure due to our original officiant (family member) having a sudden change of work plans, and was no longer able to make it to the ceremony. With only 2.5 weeks left before the big day, we were at a loss. My wife suggested that we search online for a solution. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know that you could find officiants online. However, after reading reviews and speaking with multiple officiants, we were instantly drawn to Melody. The genuine tone of her voice, and caring personality made decision making extremely easy.
THE BIG DAY has finally arrived and Melody absolutely blew everyone away. She incorporated stories from our past in her sermon and made it so personal and intimate. The response from the guests was incredible! They asked how long we knew Melody, and was shocked to know that we had met only 2 weeks prior. She is such an amazing person to work with, and has such a gentle soul. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!!

Melody knocked it out of the park. For someone who did not know us originally, she really impressed us with how well she captured our story. If you don't know who to chose as an officiant, and you want someone that is really going to put you at ease, Melody is that person. She worked with us to personalize the service, met with us beforehand to really get to know our story, and had us answer questions secretly, which made for such a touching ceremony. I am still, a month later, having people compliment the job she did! We are so happy we chose her!

Our ceremony was one of the best parts of our wedding day. We knew Melody would find just the right mix of sentiment, spirit, love, and humor while being completely open to our ideas and preferences. There were so many personal and special touches and it was certainly allowed us to "bear witness to the power of love in this world." Friends are still mentioning what a perfectly beautiful ceremony it was. Basically, she's a badass lady who puts together an incredibly meaningful and love-filled marriage ceremony.

We could not have asked for a better experience. My husband and i have known Melody since we were students at Emory University and she selected us as staff members and finally co-directors of Volunteer Emory. Melody was the obvious choice when we started thinking about who would marry us. She gave the ceremony such a personalized feeling, really telling the story of us. Melody is one of the most kind and genuine person I have had the privilege to know. Her quality of service with our ceremony inspired my two sister-in-laws to have her officiate their ceremonies too! Here's hoping she will one day perform our children's wedding ceremony! If you are looking for a personalized and intimate experiences, you cannot go wrong with Melody!

My husband and I were looking for a ceremony that reflected our relationship and our beliefs about what marriage meant. We didn’t want an off-the-shelf ceremony — we wanted something personalized, sincere, and moving. Melody worked with us leading up to the wedding to custom-tailor our message, to understand our relationship, and to bring to the table her own inspiring ideas about love and partnership. The end result was incredible — beautifully written, precisely delivered, and moving for us and our guests. It was perfect. For all these reasons, I can’t recommend Melody enough.

Melody is incredible! I may be biased, but I honestly thing she is the best officiant I've seen at a wedding. I'm not the only one who remarked upon that as we received a large number of genuine compliments about the ceremony. Seriously, it's a couple months later and family and friends are still telling us about how amazing she was. What a great thing to hear from your guests!

What Melody manages to do all at once is 1) make the ceremony drafting process fun and easy, 2) she makes the ceremony personal and genuine to the couple, 3) she makes it fun!

Going into writing our ceremony, we really had no idea what to do. Never fear, Melody was there with a suggested draft that we worked with her to personalize. She guides you the process and provides suggestions on areas that would make it more meaningful and personal to the couple.

Meanwhile, Melody had us each answer questions about our spouse-to-be that we sent only to her. She beautifully integrated our words into her homily that truly made it *our* ceremony. At least one of us, being quite introverted, was nervous about being the center of attention during this aspect of the wedding. But, somehow, all of that worry fell away from the moment we started rehearsing. She helps create a feeling of intimacy, even with a large number of guests. She suggested that we take a moment and have all the guests introduce each other, or give hugs to those that they know, at the beginning of the ceremony. It created this amazing level of connectedness amongst the guests and it gave us a moment to just be there with each other. From that point forward, it felt like the most intimate and loving and fun ceremony full of both crying and laughing. More than I could've ever hoped.

I can't recommend Melody more highly. She's an incredible officiant and an even more incredible human being. She will make your ceremony all about you...and that's the way it should be.
