Beautiful Bridal Hair and Makeup!
From our first phone call consultation to the wedding day, Lisa was so fun to work with! She listened to my ideas and concerns from the get-go and did a really gorgeous trial run in April. She gave me some skin care tips to ensure we could achieve the look I wanted, and gave me notes for my hair stylist to make sure everything was perfect on my wedding day. The day of the wedding she was punctual and created a very relaxed atmosphere. She was fun to chat with and was very efficient with her time. Most of all, I appreciated that I still felt like me -and very comfortable in my skin - after a full face makeup application. I LOVED the final look and it LASTED. I have very thick, heavy, long hair and had it up in an updo. I danced for hours and not a single hair came out of place, and there wasn’t a trace of smudged eye makeup. I have no idea how she did it, but Lisa works miracles. -

I am a wedding Florist and I have known Lisa for over 15 years. When it was time for my wedding 3/16/20 in Santa Barbara I knew I had to reach out immediately.
She is fun, excited for you and has a huge amount of positive energy making you feel like you are in the best hands. She reviewed all of my images and we decided on the perfect look.
The morning of the wedding, she was so calm, focused and communicated the whole process of what she was doing. Her timing was impeccable so I never worried if I was on time.
I used her extended service for touch ups during ceremony and photos. WOW! Thank goodness!!!!! She carried my train, helped the photographer get me into positions, fixed my hair, touched up the make up as I was a crier. She even put a hotel towel over me as I was drinking red wine before the ceremony. As I began to stress over the corona virus she said NO you are getting married and it is your turn. Stop, you are beautiful and it is your day. She made me smile and breathe.
I also used her for grooming services for all the men in the wedding party. What a difference that made, my groom is bald and took care of all of his shine, my son has acne and she made all of that disappear and perfect for photos.
Since I had a super small wedding she even got all of the men in position at the ceremony, guests seated and fluffed my wedding dress and got me down the aisle.
Trust your vendors! I truly trusted Lisa Teller to put something so important and fragile in her hands. You must use Lisa for all of her services it is so worth it!! -

Made us divine in record time
Lisa was so great to work with. I'm not a big makeup person and neither were any of my bridesmaids, so we kind of let Lisa take the lead and it turned out great. She came to us in our hotel room and worked with the area we gave her. it was a very relaxed and fun morning, very low stress. The makeup did its job and lasted the whole day with no touchups, which i made clear i would not be doing so she planned accordingly. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. -

Lisa Teller was the make up artist at my wedding and she was phenomenal! From the moment I met her, I knew she was going to be great. My make up and my bridesmaids make up was stunning. Lisa was very organized and easy to work with.
What is also a HUGE perk is that I hired Lisa for touch up services. She was so organized she helped me get into my dress, steamed all my bridesmaid's dresses and more. She really put me at ease at a very stressful time.
Lisa goes above and beyond in her work and you will not be disappointed in hiring her for your big day. -

Everybody who had hair or make-up done by them were impressed and said that they really enjoyed spending time with them. They definitely helped us look and feel our best on my big day! Sarah Sent on 07/17/2017I am so happy that I hired Lisa for wedding makeup for myself and my bridesmaids! I heard another bride give her a glowing review when I was meeting with my florist, so I went ahead and booked her services right away - and I'm really happy I did.
Lisa and her assistant did makeup for myself, my mom, and 8 bridesmaids. During my makeup trial, she listened to exactly what I wanted, and helped guide me a lot. I wasn't quite sure what would look good on me or how to verbalize what I wanted, but based on what I said and my inspiration pictures, she did an amazing job. Wedding day she arrived right on time, and did all the girls' makeup in a super timely manner - everyone was ahead of schedule! Everyone loved their makeup and mine looked amazing! I would highly recommend her for any other brides! -

Lisa was very knowledgeable, and really took her time doing our makeup. She also gave some skin care recommendations that really helped my skin looked nicer and more clear! My bridesmaids and I felt so beautiful on my wedding day, I would highly recommend Lisa to anyone needing professional makeup services :) -

Jessica Sent on 01/08/2016I used Lisa for my hair & makeup for a Boudoir shoot for a groom's gift and was VERY impressed, so I decided to book her for my hair & makeup for my wedding, as well. Her prices are very reasonable and she traveled to my location in Morgan Hill, both for a trial and for the wedding. I highly recommend Lisa. She is trustworthy, easy to work with, has great ideas and concepts of color, etc. If I ever need her Services again, I will not hesitate to use her!

She is very sweet and checked in frequently to make sure I was satisfied with the work she was doing and if I had any changes I desired. After the consultation I addressed some of the concerns I had (like the way the makeup was feeling if my skin started to feel oily in spots) to which she offered some suggestions and alterations to the products she used the day of and my concerns I had before were unnoticeable the day of. Any questions that I had was quickly answered via email! The day of all of my girls looked wonderful. None of us wear a lot of makeup in our daily lives and none of us felt overdone. It was light and flattering. Lisa also offered some helpful words as she could see my nerves were starting to show to which she said "Its just a walk and a party!"...very true!

I have really mixed feelings about working with Lisa for my bridal makeup.
When I was researching makeup artists, it was important for me to find someone who could achieve an elevated natural look - I wanted to look in the mirror and feel absolutely stunning while still recognizing myself. I also wanted someone who was going to bring good vibes to the day. I didn't need a hype person, but someone who would appreciate how special a wedding is, especially because I never get my makeup done, so it was a very big deal for me. Lisa's website and IG checked all of those boxes, and I felt even more confident in her after my brief online consultation with her. She was communicative and responsive through the entire planning process.
Right off the bat at my makeup trial, I felt like I was inconveniencing her with my appointment. She told me about how she didn't want to work that day and the vibe she gave off was that she was just checking the box of getting my makeup trial done to fulfill that obligation. I brushed it off though because honestly that is so relatable - sometimes you're just not up for it that day and I get it! My bridesmaid and I walked away feeling a little off, but I figured maybe it just wasn't a great day and that's totally ok. I was pleased with my makeup results and she was patient when I showed her a selection of inspo pics that were all completely different (I'm not a makeup girly so I had no idea), and she explained to me along the way the different products she was using and why she was making particular color choices. I walked away feeling beautiful!
On the day of the wedding, the schedule started with all of my bridal party and I wasn't scheduled until later in the day, so I wasn't present for the bulk of the services she did. When arrived and checked in with her, the first thing she told me is that she was never doing 8 services again. It was such a jarring start to my wedding day, and I really didn't know how to respond, except to lightheartedly say I appreciated her accommodating us and to feel free to take more breaks than were scheduled to stretch, recharge, etc. What I heard from my bridal party later was that she was telling them in a similar way that she was unhappy working with so many people in one day, which I totally understand because that is a marathon, but I felt so put off by it because she had agreed to the schedule at my trial. My initial booking was for 6 people, and at the trial I told her it would be 8. My contract stated it was ok to increase the number of people before the wedding day, but that if there were too many services she may need to bring in an assistant. I specifically said that I was totally fine paying for her to bring in an assistant, or with finding a second makeup artist on my own to accommodate the additional services. She said she thought she could do all 8 if she started early in the morning and that it could be difficult for her to find an assistant on her own, so I told her that it was up to her how she wanted to proceed and that I would go with whatever she thought was best. She said she would do 8 services and start early, so I signed off on that and figured it would be ok.
The second thing my bridesmaids told me was that she said I "convinced" her to do 8 services that day. She also said she usually doesn't do bridal makeup, only commercial, but that I "convinced" her to book me for bridal services. That was very unexpected because her IG and website both have bridal focused sections, so I don't think it was unreasonable for me to ask to book her for bridal services.
I wish I had heard about this on the day of and not after the fact, because it was so disappointing. I personally did not feel like that was an accurate characterization of me, but regardless of how she felt, that should have been directed at me and not my girls who had no control over how the day was booked. They said it was very off-putting for a day that should have been joyous, or at the very least chill. They should not have been made to feel bad for sitting in the makeup chair to get ready for a happy occasion.
My feelings are mixed because I was very happy with how my makeup came out, and my girls looked so beautiful too. She did a great job of accentuating their natural beauty and working with their different skin tones and facial features. A few people wanted small changes to their looks and said they felt dismissed when bringing up their observations, or they were not comfortable saying anything. I recognize it's our responsibility as customers to raise those questions, but the environment she created did not feel welcoming for feedback.
Overall, Lisa is good at what she does. Her makeup product is beautiful and she creates great elevated natural looks, just like she describes. But the environment she created for my bridal party and me put a storm cloud over our day. Her website says she wants to laugh with you and feel like an old friend on your wedding day, and that was not at all what we experienced. It's unreasonable to expect someone to be energized all the time, I totally get that, so neutrality would have been ok too, but we did not even receive that. After my experience, I would not recommend booking with her for bridal services. -

Alyssa Sent on 08/12/2022Appalling lack of professionalism (No-Showed on my wedding day)
I urge every bride reading this review not to hire Lisa Teller. She is great at doing hair and makeup, but she is an absolutely unprofessional, uncommunicative, untrustworthy business person. Long story short, Lisa broke her contract with me and never showed up on my wedding day. She ghosted me less than a week before my wedding. Calls, texts, and emails from myself and my venue coordinator went unanswered in the weeks leading up to my wedding. 4 days before the big day, I was left with no hair or makeup services for myself or my bridesmaids. She was uncommunicative, evasive, and unprofessional. She tried to manipulate me into breaking my contract with her so that she would not be liable to return my deposit. I, of course, did not break my contract with her, and yet she is still holding onto my money.
Now, the long version of the story. I signed a contract with Lisa over 1 year prior to my August 2022 wedding date with a $400 deposit. I had a successful beauty trial in May of 2022 that cost me $330. She did an excellent job with my hair and makeup at the trial, and we discussed details that needed to be finalized regarding number of bridesmaids services, travel to my venue, insurance coverage for my venue, etc. After the trial, Lisa got her insurance details sorted with my venue (they required all vendors to have the venue listed on their policies) and Lisa assured me that she was finding assistants to help with bridesmaid services.
In July of 2022, I received an email from Lisa confirming that her insurance details were sorted, she hired one assistant and would try hire at least one more, and she asked for my photography timeline to plan the timing of services. I provided said timeline and waited to hear back, but the wait never ended.
My venue reached out to Lisa to confirm her timeline for when she would arrive to the venue on my wedding day. No response. I also reached out to confirm said timeline and tried to ensure she had travel plans sorted. No response. Lisa was never very quick to respond to emails, so I gave her several days to respond before I started to worry.
5 days before my wedding, I tried texting Lisa urgently asking for a response as to whether she would show up. No response, yet again. I called. Left a voicemail. No response. At this point, I frantically began to contact other hair and makeup artists in the area. Throughout this process, I learned from another local artist that Lisa had reached out to her employees asking for assistance with my wedding. In that message to the local artist, Lisa indicated that she in fact had not secured any assistants (as she had told me in communications in early July) and was only reaching out for help 7 days before my wedding (after I had emailed her looking to confirm her timeline/plans).
When I didn’t hear from her, I worried that perhaps she had a family or medical emergency. So, I went to instagram to see if she was active. There, I saw her posting cute summer sunset photos to her Instagram story having a grand old time. At that point, it was clear she was intentionally ignoring my attempts to contact her.
4 days before my wedding, Lisa finally called me. She left a long rambling voicemail going on about a supposed Covid exposure she had. She claimed that Covid exposure happened the Sunday before my wedding, and she was supposedly waiting to reach out to me until she “knew more” about her exposure. Funny enough, I was reaching out to her long before her supposed Sunday exposure, and she was ignoring me long before this “exposure”. To me, her long winded story about her Covid exposure seemed like an attempt to manipulate me into cancelling on her. As per her contract, my cancellation would result in forfeiture of all money paid to her. If she cancelled, however, she would be liable to return all money I paid to her. She even used the words “if you don’t feel comfortable with me doing your makeup after my exposure, and YOU want to cancel, I totally understand and would of course return your money”. I saw through this attempt and never indicated that I wanted to cancel.
I never heard back from Lisa after this rambling phone call and I made it clear that I was not canceling and her not showing up would be a breach of contract. She did not show up on my wedding day, has not returned any of my texts or emails, and is still holding my money.
I will be pursuing legal action as a matter of principle. Many tears were shed in the days leading up to my wedding as I stressed over finding someone else to provide hair and makeup services. I hope no bride ever has to experience this. Do not work with Lisa Teller no matter how appealing her other reviews or her Instagram posts are. She is unbothered by burning her clients.
