Amazing team!

Vickie and the team at L'Etoile Catering were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout our entire planning process. The food was delicious and the service was absolutely incredible-- several guests commented on how much they enjoyed their meals and how impressed they were with the staff. Best caterer in Charlottesville

I met with Vickie and Mark multiple times before our wedding day and I could really tell they cared about us. You aren’t just another wedding with L’etoile Catering, you’re part of their family. Vickie worked with me multiple times to fine tune our menu so it best reflected me and my husband and our favorite foods. Her attention to detail is very impressive! The day of the wedding we had so many of our guests tell us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Everything was served hot and cooked to perfection. I can’t recommend this company enough!!!

Great food with a family feel!

Vickie and Mark are amazing!! Not only is their food delicious but they are also so accommodating. I have celiacs disease and dairy
allergy and they did not hesitate to accommodate mostly everything! I cannot express how amazing it was for me to eat anything and everything at my wedding. Not only was all the food amazing and warm, their service was of a very high standard. I could not recommend L’etoile enough!!

Perfection from Start to Finish

Vickie and Mark of L'Etoile made our wedding incredible from the moment we first started discussions with them. They were incredibly knowledgeable, knowing all of the important logistics that will matter during the day, caring, ensuring that all guests (and the married couple) were fed, and flexible, making changes with us as we moved through the planning process. The food was delicious and our tasting with Vickie and Mark was probably the highlight of our planning process. They worked with various allergies and dietary restrictions and made sure that the night flowed seamlessly. I also want to highlight that Vickie is incredibly kind and supportive of her staff, making sure that they were learning great skills in a supportive environment. As someone who has worked food service and catering before, seeing this made me feel even better about our choice to work with them.

Best wedding caterer!

L’étoile Catering was one of the best choices we made for our daughter’s wedding! They were so professional and our wedding planner found them a joy to work with. Our guests were raving about the food, which was Virginia cuisine with a French flair. The menu was well suited to the October wedding date with 3 main dishes including a vegan option. We didn’t have to worry about a thing!

Flexible, professional and talented

Vickie and Mark (L'Etoile owners/chef) are so wonderful to work with. Mark is extremely talent chef who was very open to collaboration while adding in experience of weddings and what people like. The food is incredible and thought through from start to finish. Vickie was extremely communicative and her team was absolutely wonderful at our wedding. They were extremely professional, on it in every aspect making the evening seamless from start to finish. Vickie was also very cognizant of our budget and thoughtful in areas for us to cut back when we needed to. Her and Mark were great collaborators. They are family owned and they are both there on the event night ensuring success. Highly recommend L'Etoile for your wedding/event.

Best in class catering!

We hired l'etoile for our 170 person wedding in May 2024 and, from the moment I reached out to Vickie (proprieter), it was a spectacular experience. Vickie responded within 48 hours of my original outreach with a draft menu so we could envision the flow of the evening. The tasting that Chef Mark prepared blew our minds away - they so carefully curated our selections, provided recommendations, and truly gave us a beautiful experience. And then, for the main event, they were exceptional. Professional, elegant, delicious - from cocktail hour to last call at the bar, they were on top of it every step of the way. Our guests commented many times over how excellent the food was (especially the lamb & manchego meatballs in a cinnamon sauce and the mini grilled Virginia ham and cheese sandwiches!). They're a local, family-owned business, and you can truly tell that they love what they do.

Flexible, accommodating team and DELICIOUS food

Vickie and Mark were absolutely INCREDIBLE to work with during our wedding planning process! They made our vision for our wedding day become a reality. The L’etoile team was very accommodating of our numerous menu and guest number changes, and ensured that my husband and I were taken care of on our wedding night. Their thoughtfulness and attention to detail included a private hors d'oeuvres plate during cocktail hour, and a togo container of food for dinner the night after our wedding. Wonderful food, drinks, and team

Incredible food and incredible service!!!

We hired L’Etoile for our September 2023 wedding in Keswick and were completely overjoyed by the quality of the food and service we received! Vickie, Mark, and their entire team were an absolute delight to work with-from start to finish. I have received numerous compliments about how delicious the food was and how it’s the best wedding food anyone has ever had. They also assisted with our signature cocktails which were a big hit. You can tell that Vickie and Mark are passionate about their business and it shines through their work. They were professional and kind, as well as knowledgeable about different options we could try since our group had some dietary restrictions. We also had a fantastic time at the tasting with our parents-who still talk about how wonderful the food was. Vickie and Mark made us feel at home. I can’t recommend L’Etoile enough! They took such good care of us and our guests and I’m forever grateful for the positive experience. I’d also like to note that L’Etoile was extremely helpful during the planning process. There are so many details that go into catering that the average person might not be aware of. Vickie is knowledgeable and was able to make sure we had a proper setup. Rehearsal Dinner well beyond expectations!

Words will fail to convey how pleased we were with L'Etoile! Their team was masterful with each and every detail - from initial outreach throughout the event. Holding a tented outdoor rehearsal dinner particularly in July, has a number of uncertainties. From the onset, Vickie presented many options to ensure a perfect evening. She is reliable, thorough, and fair. The elegant Southern Fare, prepared by master chef Mark, was delicious (and held up in the hot summer heat). The team of courteous wait staff was seamless in their service and so attentive. I will entrust Mark and Vickie with any future event.

Amazing from start to finish!

L'etoile Catering was absolutely incredible! The food was out of this world delicious, and the service was top-notch. The owner, Vickie, and her husband, Mark, were so attentive and made sure that everything was perfect.

We started working with L'etoile early in the wedding planning process, and they were so helpful in guiding us through the process. They were very knowledgeable about different types of food and could easily accommodate our dietary restrictions. They also had a wide variety of menu options to choose from, so we were sure to find something that everyone would enjoy.

On the day of the wedding, L'etoile was absolutely amazing. They arrived early and set up everything perfectly. The food was served hot and fresh, and it was all absolutely delicious. The servers were also very attentive and made sure that our guests' drinks were never empty.

Vickie and Mark were also amazing to work with. They were so friendly and easy to talk to. They were always available to answer our questions and make sure that we were happy with everything. We couldn't have asked for a better caterer for our wedding.

Above and beyond service

Vickie & her team are professional, responsive, experienced and honest. No hidden fees or unexpected speed bumps that she could not quickly come with a solution. Almost all of our 90 plus guest said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Many people with food allergies were in attendance and she was especially attentive to them. One guest said it was the first wedding she had ever attended that she was able to eat due to her food allergies. Highly recommend and would definitely use them for other events myself!

Stop looking for caterers and hire L’Etoile

Stop looking for caterers and hire L’Etoile. From our first consultation with Vickie we knew this was the caterer from us - we hinted at a theme and they ran with it making it so much better than our original idea. Everything about Mark and Vickie’s approach is incredibly personal and it felt so incredibly different than many checkbox-style approaches you would see from other caterers. We felt heard and were able to really customize our food and beverages to our tastes. Little details and suggestions from Vickie about everything from the food to the placement of cocktail tables really did make a noticeable difference in the experiences of our guests. They were also extremely attentive to the fact that the Bride and Groom need to eat! We actually were full on the way home which I hear is somewhat unusual. Oh and the food? Amazzziiinggg. I couldn’t imagine recommending anyone else for your wedding (or any event) in C’ville.

L'etoile is an exceptional caterer

The food and service was phenomenal. Beautifully presented, delicious, and perfect temperature.
We had guests from just not Va but LA, Australia, Singapore, and England who are used to quality, large scale catering, and they all said this surpassed anything they had been to.
The barmen as well as all the staff, absolutely delightful, and so accommodating.
So many commented on how impressed they were with how the servers all timed presenting the plates to the guests at once.
L'etoile made our wedding, so perfect and memorable for us.

Amazing team and delicious food!

L'etoile came highly recommended by locals to Charlottesville due to their previous days as a popular restaurant in the area, and still managed to surpass our expectations for both food and service throughout the wedding planning process. Vickie helped us plan our menu based on a general palate of Upscale Southern Cuisine and was able to guide us on menu items that we would not have originally thought of (i.e. Black Eyed Pea Fritters). L'etoile provided both food and full bar service, including custom couples cocktails and everything was served efficiently and professionally. In addition to menu planning, Vickie was also able to provide feedback on layout and rentals as well as interfacing directly with the rental company to minimize back-and-forth communications.

When we first met Mark and Vickie for our tasting we were impressed with their private kitchen and dining space and even more impressed with the food. We opted to do 'Stations' during dinner as opposed to a traditional sit-down plated meal and the team ensured that all the stations remained full and the food was fresh throughout the 1.5hour period. The food at the wedding was attractive and flavorful, surpassing our expectations even after sampling the items at our tasting.

Wonderful team and night

L'Etoile made our wedding such a beautiful experience. Not only was the food delectable, but the staff were outstanding. Their thoughtfulness and ability to anticipate our guests' needs were unparalleled. Vickie and Mark held an intimate and elegant tasting for us, and were incredibly flexible with changing guest count and our travel dates living out of state. Before the day, everyone told us that we would never get to eat at our own wedding. However, Vickie personally made a plate for my wife and I, so that we could continue to visit with guests while sharing the fantastic meal. Every member of the catering and bartending staff were incredibly kind and did amazing work. We cannot recommend L'Etoile highly enough!

L'etoile provides the finest in food and service built on over 25 years in the industry!

During the initial planning stages of our daughter’s wedding reception, we knew we wanted the food and beverage to be the main event. That is why we chose l’étoile’s catering team! Typically, one would consider a variety of caterers, but we knew l’étoile’s reputation for quality, and so we never entertained any others. L’étoile’s reputation with over 25 years in the industry, including a restaurant we frequented back in their early years and the well-prepared foods we have purchased at their “honor bar” were important factors in choosing them. Vickie and Mark Gresge created an elevated culinary experience for our daughter’s wedding – from passed canapes, to an elegant and specifically curated assortment of food stations, and friendly expert bar service including signature cocktails. Every step of the planning process was impressive!
Another outstanding detail from our working experience with l’étoile is their attention to detail and prompt communication. They have built their reputation not only the fine cuisine they produce but on the relationships they’ve developed. Their friendly, capable, and efficient staff were appreciated by our guests as well. Further, Vickie provided numerous suggestions and pointers as to the tent layout, food and beverage choices, and timing that made the reception a huge success.

Amazing food and service, Vickie + team delivered the catering of my dreams!

Vickie and the entire team at L’Etoile are absolutely INCREDIBLE. My guests continue to talk about the delicious and all around amazing food and service provided at our wedding. My personal favorites were the mini grilled cheeses, the brisket, and the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese — honestly all of the food was to die for. I wanted southern cuisine for my rustic mountain wedding, and Vickie and her team delivered above and beyond.

Another big thing I want to highlight is how easy and wonderful Vickie made the planning process. I originally started planning with Vickie in 2019 after I got engaged — from Canada! Then COVID happened. And I also had several kids! All this to say, our wedding got dragged out by TWO YEARS. But that didn’t slow Vickie down at all. We stayed in touch throughout the entire time and it was never like the plans for my wedding were put on hold. It was difficult planning the wedding from Canada, and I feel that she recognized that and stepped up in a lot of ways but offering suggestions for the layout and how things should go that day. I never had a tasting or even a visit to the venue after the first one in 2019, but between Vickie and my day-of-coordinator, everything came together beautifully and I couldn’t be more happy with the results.

The food is so important for your wedding — it is something your guests will always remember. Make sure you budget for it and go with a trusted and reputable company like L’Etoile — you won’t be disappointed.

We love L’etoile!!!

Mark and Vickie are absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious!!! And the service was lovely. They were great about helping us take as many COVID safe precautions as possible. Also, Vickie is a super expert at working with the rentals vendor and site vendor, getting the wedding physically set up, and bringing our vision to life from food to layout- I was very grateful for her wisdom and experience. We did a brunch wedding with cider mimosas (Vickie worked with the cidery on the recipe) with pie for dessert and it was just awesome, and so beautiful and smooth. Cannot recommend L’Etoile enough.

Incredible Caterer!

L’etoile Catering is amazing and you will not regret hiring them! They know what they are doing! After we had done a few tastings, we did one with L’etoile and it seriously wasn’t a close competition at all…they blew the other caterers out of the water. We were very proud to have them as our caterers. Due to Covid, we moved our wedding a year out from our original date and they were very accommodating in that stressful process of moving everything around. Not only is the food just absolutely incredible, but they are a very professional team. I sent what feels like a million emails back and forth with Vickie and she was always quick and thorough in her responses. They also handled the rentals through MS events and they did an incredible job of making sure all the little details were ordered and taken care of. (We were also able to meet with the rentals company to pick out our details, but Vickie took care of the bulk of it). The mother of the groom needed a special cushioned chair to be comfortable in due to some health issues opposed to the wooden chairs at the venue. The wedding planner and I noticed the chair did not arrive with the other rentals the day before the wedding so my wedding planner called Vickie and she said not to worry and it would be there for the wedding. She made it happen and my mother-in-law was very pleased to have a comfy chair to sit in! So many of our guests raved about the food over and over again. We were very pleased to have a selection of all the foods sent with us for the night of our wedding. We really enjoyed that 1am meal! It was also such a blessing that they took care of the cleanup and also set up the chairs for the ceremony. The wait staff and the bartenders also all did such a wonderful job and we were very happy with their service! They put an immense amount of love into what they do and you will be so very happy if you hire them for your special event! I would give them more than 5 stars if I could.

Vickie, Mark and staff at L’Etoile are top notch!

Because of Vickie, Mark and their staff we had a fabulous wedding reception that no one will soon forget. We had so many compliments on the excellence of the food and the professionalism and kindness of the staff! From start to finish, Vickie gave us quality service. When we were having difficulty communicating with the rental company, she stepped in and took care of it making things much less stressful for us. Also I have a very limited diet and Mark made the perfect meal for me for which I was very thankful! My hat is off to L’Etoile! You can’t go wrong with hiring them for your event!

Kindest Staff You Will Ever Meet

Vickie and Mark were absolutely amazing to work with. They are kind, knowledgeable, and very communicative. They are both detail oriented and were responsive and welcoming to our specific requests. They had a hard job initially because we were working with another catering company before they went out of business due to COVID. That catering company recommended l’etoile and we could not have been happier with the services we received throughout the wedding planning process. They took the Mexican food themed menu we had already finalized, put their unique flare to it, and executed it artfully.

Their staff were very attentive, and were just as kind to us and all of our guests the day of our wedding. You can truly tell that Vickie and Mark love to help others and their community and show their love through the food that they curate. The “mom and pop” feel to l’etoile felt more personal than other companies we had interviewed with initially which made us trust them with input they gave.

Thanks for all your hard work to make our day perfect!

10/10 Wedding Experience!

We cannot recommend L’Etoile enough! My husband and I originally had a June 2020 date, but because of COVID, we postponed not just once, but twice to September 2021. Vickie was professional and understanding throughout the process, and never made us feel guilty about our decision to postpone. The food was phenomenal! But before I go into food, I want to talk about the wait staff. We had assigned seats for each table so they knew who was getting what, but it was literally a performance of how they laid out food. Our guests were so impressed that at one point, one table clapped for them because it was so beautiful. Chef Mark is an exquisite chef and our guests still compliment the appetizers and food that was served at our wedding. Not only are Vickie and Chef Mark good at what they do, they are also really sweet and honest people who have a beautiful love story of their own which shows in their food. Thank you Vickie and Chef Mark for making our day so special and wonderful!

Amazing food, Great communication

Absolutely loved working with Vickie and Mark. They are an amazing team and help your event run smoothly with the added bonus of cooking up some AMAZING food. We keep getting compliments about the food that was served at our wedding.

The great thing about Vickie and Mark is that they aren't a wedding factory and are able to dedicate their time to you. Vickie also helps take care of all of your rentals if you need them for your venue, such an added bonus!

We loved working with Mark and Vickie and highly recommend them for your next event. We know we'll be visiting Crozet and stopping by to get some of their weeknight dinners!

The perfect late summer wedding

Vickie and Mark were an absolute dream to work with to plan our September wedding. From the moment we sat down with them for our tasting to the time we left the venue after all was said and done, I knew we wouldn't want to work with anyone else. Mark's food was absolutely amazing and our guests continued to rave about it throughout the night and afterwards. Vickie was beyond responsive and helped us plan everything and thought of every last detail! Whenever I had a question or needed to speak with them, she was always there to reassure me that no question was dumb and that I was never asking too much of them. Even towards the end of our planning when the coronavirus tried to cause some hiccups, Vickie was there to give us recommendations on how to properly plan a pandemic wedding. Their staff was also fantastic, so friendly and very on top of everything the day of the wedding. When we walked out to the reception area, everything was set up exactly as we had planned and our dreams had finally come to life! Looking back we absolutely know we wouldn't have wanted anyone else to cater our wedding.

Our best vendor of the day!

L'etoile was our favorite vendor for our June 2021 wedding. We still get compliments on the food, which was the best wedding food I'd ever had (by far). Vickie was super responsive and helped us pick a delicious menu in our budget. She also provided a custom meal for me (my favorite pasta dish) and accommodated a nut-free menu. She accommodated every request and last minute changes (truly, the week of) due to the ongoing pandemic. Her staff were friendly and helpful to the guests. L'etoile works with MS Events for rentals, including barware and place settings, and has a great relationship with their staff. I can't say enough about working with Vickie and her team!

L'etoile Catering is the best!

Both the food and service at L'etoile are outstanding. We got multiple compliments from our guests on how amazing our food was and how great the service was. Vickie was so organized and nice to work with during the planning process. She made sure all our ideas were heard and was flexible with what we wanted to do. I would definitely use L'etoile again for any catering in the Charlottesville area.

Absolutely Adored L'Etoile!

My now-husband and I couldn't be happier with choosing L'Etoile as our wedding caterer. Vickie & Mark are the ultimate husband-wife duo and were incredibly patient and understanding when we had to postpone our wedding twice due to the pandemic. They helped us design the appetizer, drinks, and dinner menu of our dreams - everything was delicious and the presentation was gorgeous. Throughout the wedding, Vickie made sure that the groom and I were hand-delivered cocktails, appetizers, and the meal selections we had asked for so that we never had to lift a finger! Their staff was very diligent and polite; we hardly even realized they were there! Vickie was extremely professional and responsive throughout the many months leading up to our wedding, which helped put our minds at ease. L'Etoile worked seamlessly with our venue and rental company because they have years of experience with each under their belt. It's very clear to us why L'Etoile is one of the preferred catering companies on our venue's list! We would highly recommend them to anyone considering hiring L'Etoile - for any type of event.

Amazing food, wonderful service

Vickie and Mark are awesome. I have never had food at a big event as good as the food from our daughter's wedding this past weekend. They are lovely to work with and went out of their way to make it a special day for all of us. Everyone commented on the food and the service (very attentive all night). They helped us make a very memorable and special event. We ordered the chicken Marbella, marinated hanger steak with peppercorn veal demi-glace, vegetarian risotto with squash, arugula, truffle oil and pecorino cheese with grilled vegetables. So great!

We could not have found a better caterer out there!!

Mark & Vickie made our wedding in the beginning of October truly incredible. From the first time we met them at a tasting last summer they put together the most enjoyable experience - we told them our vision of "elegant southern" and created a menu even better than we could have imagined. They were so kind and accommodating. Having a wedding during the pandemic has been challenging but they worked with us at every step making adjustments to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable but it was still beautiful and delicious. Every adjustment I requested up to a few days before the wedding they graciously made and I couldn't speak higher of them.
The guests LOVED the food and all of their staff was so kind and professional.

If your getting married in or around central Virginia I could not recommend these two enough. Thank you Mark and Vickie!! I wish we could do it all over again!

Wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome party

L'Etoile was a fabulous choice for this event. Under the leadership of VIckie and Mark Greige, the event was wonderful. Due to the Covid Pandemic, we had to change from our original plan, to a different location to have an outside tented event, based on Vickie's recommendation and idea. They were not just "vendors", they were partners to assure the success of the event. Vickie also recommended a great rental company and a tent company that were also great partners. The food and service were both high level.

Sept Wedding

I can not recommend L’Etoile enough. Mark and Vickie were so fantastic through our whole planning experience. We had to reschedule our March wedding for Sept and they made it so easy for us during a time when everything was stressful. Fantastic food and service!

Perfect meal, wonderful experience

Wow!! We were absolutely blown away by our experience with L'Etoile. Vickie and Mark were flexible, communicative and kind.

We had been planning a 150 guest wedding that shrunk to a very small affair as the pandemic hit. L'etoile made a day that felt like it was a compromise into an an amazing, beautiful, intimate (not to mention utterly delicious) meal with our nearest and dearest.

So sweet and professional!

Vickie is so sweet and organized. Hiring them was almost like hiring another wedding planner. She was so on top of things the day of the wedding and helped make sure everything would run smoothly! Prior to the wedding, she met with us at the venue to go over logistics. She was so helpful in making sure we had thought through every little detail. She doesn’t fully handle the rentals but helps you work with a partner group (MS Events) and double checks your choices to make sure you’ll have everything you need. The menu of food options is great! We had an issue with gnats because our reception was in a tent and Vickie was great about checking in to make sure we were doing alright and got us fresh champagne when the gnats got into our drinks. The only negative thing we could say is just that the food at our tasting was definitely a bit tastier than the day of - though I’m sure that should be expected when mass producing that much food. Highly recommend L’etoile!!

The Absolute Best Catering Experience

Vickie and Mark were a class above the rest. We met with a handful of caterers and it was a no brainer for us to choose L'Etoile. Vickie and Mark are the most down to earth and caring people. Exceptional food and service

L' etoile provided a true culinary experience for our wedding. At the tasting we knew we had to have them cater our wedding. The food was phenomenal and somehow it was even better at the wedding! Their appetizer repetoire is expansive and delicious. My husband and I still can't stop talking about the beef brisket sliders and seared scallops. Our selection for plated entrees included braised pork shank, stuffed trout, and mushroom risotto. YUM. The food exceeded expectations which were already high from the tasting. The duo is warm, inviting, and very easy to work with. It is clear that they truly care about not just providing excellent food and service, but about making your wedding memorable. We will definitely we using them again for any catering needs.

Best food for the best wedding (personal opinion)

Had the most amazing food and experience! The owners worked with us to ensure we had the perfect menu that accommodated all of our needs (had some family members with dietary restrictions). At the event they ensured that my groom and I ate by fixing us personal plates and made sure we had what we needed. 100/100 would hire them again if I ever have another party that needs delicious food!

Prepare for the best food and best service of your life

Wow. Just Wow.

For starters, this is not just a regular catering company. This is a husband and wife dynamic team designs a menu with you and helps orchestrate your special day with the utmost love, care, and attention to detail. The service that we received from Vickie and Mark was out of this world. Whether it was a last minute rental change, or a phone call just to make sure we were all on the same page Vickie was extremely gracious and helpful. On the day of our wedding, there were a few little concerns with the weather (its good luck right?) and Vickie was the voice of calm and tranquility helping us make the best decisions for us on the special day. I will be forever grateful for her energy and spirit during this portion of the day.

Now about the food:
In addition to all of the amazing hospitality that we received from them leading up to our wedding the actual day of was like nothing we could have imagined. THEIR FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Not to mention Vickie prepared two plate for my husband and I and had them waiting at our seat so we could avoid the classic "I didn't even eat at my own wedding." I'm sure glad we had that plate because the food was even better than I remembered from our tasting. Our friends and family were talking about it all night.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to mention that Vickie and Mark are the definition of couple goals and it was an honor to witness their awesomeness at work.

Warm and wonderful owners, fantastic food! Grab them if you can!

If you are lucky enough to get Mark and Vicky to cater your wedding, grab them! They were totally helpful and full of information from start to finish, answering all my daughter’s questions quickly and helping us plan a lovely and delicious cocktail reception. They were very flexible and responsive to my daughter’s desires, and gave her the wedding of her dreams. Both she and her husband said they could not imagine a more perfect wedding. They are just wonderful, warm people and they made us feel that we were like family. We had quite a rain storm at our tent venue, necessitating a bar move at the last minute. Also, some changes had to be made because the temperature in the tent was warmer than was planned. And the pouring rain of course! We didn’t even notice all they did to make things happen. The servers were lovely and hard working, and even sang along with the band while they were working, which we loved! The food, of course, was totally creative and delicious and there was plenty. There are so many things that go into making one’s wedding catering successful, and Mark and Vicky excel at all of them. I very highly recommend them!

Wonderful! Would absolutely recommend.

Choosing L'Etoile as our caterer for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made! Vickie and Mark are lovely to work with. From the start, they were incredibly responsive. Their knowledge of catering, the wedding industry, and events is unparalleled. They offered great insight and recommendations to make sure that our cocktail style reception would flow smoothly and be exactly what we envisioned. We consulted them on numerous items for the wedding (bar supplies, rentals) and they helped at every step. They were very receptive to our ideas, including making two signature cocktails and a special brownie sundae (instead of cake) for dessert.

On top of being incredibly helpful during the planning process, their product at the wedding was INCREDIBLE. The service and staff were friendly, efficient, and so helpful. The food was amazing - we received tons of comments on how delicious everything was.

Bottom line - you will not regret choosing them for your wedding! They are wonderful people and professionals.

Five stars for l'etoile catering!

I honestly can't say enough about L'Etoile Catering. We're big "foodies" so I was very concerned about the menu for our daughter's large outdoor summer wedding. Not only were the food and service excellent but Vickie had unending patience and kindness with all my phone calls and questions during this very stressful time. They truly went above and beyond the call of duty and were fairly priced for the quality of food and service they provide. I highly recommend them for any event.

Wonderful People, Delicious Food!

We loved working with Mark and Vickie! They treated us like family and we felt totally confident we were in good hands. The food and service were both excellent the day of the wedding!

We ended up with L'etoile Catering by accident and it was the best thing that could have happened to us. Vickie and Mark are an amazing team, the couple and their staff are in it for the craft not for the money and it shows. We felt so welcomed at the tasting, everything was beyond delicious and we got many many compliments on the feast they prepared for the wedding itself. They say no matter how good the food was at your wedding, you won't remember it - not true in this case. Unforgettable for the two of us and for our guests.

L'Etoile was such a wonderful wedding vendor! Vickie and her entire team were incredibly professional from our first meeting at the tasting all the way through the final hours of our wedding. They were more than willing to customize the menu based on our food allergies and special requests. We had a large wedding, and they were able to prepare and serve the group perfectly. Despite the rain, L'Etoile delivered very consistent food and provided high quality service to all of our guests. I would choose Vickie and team over and over again, and highly recommend L'Etoile!

I would HIGHLY recommend L'Etoile Catering to anyone looking for a wedding caterer. They were so attentive, patient and kind throughout the whole planning process and their food was just incredible. Vicky responded promptly to my one million emails and was always there to talk through concerns I might have or communicate with the rental company to make changes. L'Etoile really values each of their clients and knows how important their job is in making a wedding a success. I received so many compliments on the food and service at our wedding. Hiring them will be the best decision you make!

I am so happy that we worked with L’etoile for our catering. Mark and Vickie were an absolute treat to work with. They were so patient with all of the changes that I requested throughout my wedding planning process. Also, the food was INCREDIBLE. All of my guests kept raving about it after the wedding. Get the salmon!! The staff were extremely professional including the servers and bartenders. Vickie really was one of the most helpful people in planning my wedding reception. Cannot recommend them enough!!!

L'Etoile Catering served a phenomenal meal for our June wedding! The menu was season, local, and truly represented our taste and style. Vickie worked with us to ensure that each dish was fully to our liking; she was extremely responsive and flexible regarding slight tweaks and requests. We were quite set on serving the entire dinner family-style in one course, and the l'Etoile team executed the meal perfectly! Everything was served on-time and at the ideal serving temperature.

Our guests were simply blown away by the quality of the hors d'oeuvres (gorgeous display of cheeses, smoked trout on a potato chip, and a miniature take on the classic Virginia ham biscuit) as well as the reception dinner (grilled shrimp, grilled hanger steak cooked to perfection, grits, tomato pie, corn salad, kale salad, and grilled asparagus).

The team was professional and the service was wonderful (serving wine in a timely manner and responding well to our guests' requests). We could not have imagined a better partner -- thank you l'Etoile team!

From the very start over a year ago it was clear that L'Etoile Catering was going to be a good choice from a taste perspective. Mark Gresge's skill as a chef was evident at our tasting, which felt like dinner with friends. During the year, as we followed my daughter's meticulous spreadsheets to plan the wedding she and Brad wanted, Vickie was always available to answer questions and give us advice. Closer to the wedding, Vickie made herself available for a conference call with us and the day-of coordinator to work out last-minute details. We stocked the bar ourselves and she reviewed quantities for us so that we could be sure we had what we needed in terms of quantity and types of beverages. But the best part was the wedding day when Vickie put together a staff that, while unobtrusive, also seemed to share in the joy of the day and made our guests feel welcome and accommodated. They brought a tray of hors d'oeuvres from the cocktail hour to the wedding party during their photo session and prepared a care package for the bride and groom to share at the end of the day. They made the day seem like it was easy, even in a farm venue where the quality of the kitchen was not what they were used to I'm quite sure. But have I mentioned the food? Our guests are still raving about the hors d'oeuvres, especially the bacon wrapped dates, baked brie in puff pastry and filo tartlets with cumin cilantro shrimp. And the butternut squash and crispy kale risotto and grilled Alaskan salmon were a great hit though the item about which we have heard the greatest reviews is the hangar steak, grilled on site and served with caramelized onions, grilled tomatoes and a chimichurri sauce. Such quality dining and great service for 150 guests helped to make the wedding an event we will always remember. You cannot go wrong with this caterer!

I'm a picky eater but the folks at L'Etoile can make anything taste amazing! I loved them as a restaurant in Charlottesville and was thrilled when they were available to cater our wedding. They were super flexible with food, items that were included, not included, services they provided or we provided, we were able to provide our own alcohol, which they served. The food was delicious, the catering staff was friendly and made sure everything ran on time(we didn't have a wedding coordinator), considering the quality of the food they were incredibly reasonably priced. All the guests commented on how delicious the meal was, we couldn't have been happier with L'Etoile!

Vickie and the team at L'Etoile were exceptional in providing our wedding reception with a wonderful hors d'oeuvres and a buffet dinner recently. From the planning stages, Vickie worked with us to accommodate our budget and wedding themes into the menu and presentation. The team was a delight to work with and are very enthusiastic about providing food that is fresh, delicious, and with a French flair. We loved the fresh fruits and vegetables used, as well as the homemade pasta primavera. We would highly recommend this catering group!

My husband and I have never had anything but a great dining experience at L'etoile. So, when our daughter asked to be married at home, we naturally called Vickie Gresge. From our first conversation I knew we had made the right choice. Vickie listened to my vision, prepared a creative menu, happily advised and kindly supported me through the daunting process. Our event was all we hoped for. Our guests enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared on site and were very well taken care of by L'etoile's professional staff. Incredible!! We received so many compliments on the food which was amazing. They handled a crisis with the rental company with such ease, and were beyond helpful with our DIY wedding. We loved them and recommend them highly!!!

Excellent quality food and high standard of service

L'Etoile and Vickie at the helm were excellent for our wedding in Charlottesville on August 27. They were very responsive to many emails, accommodated our vegan and gluten free guests expertly, and provided beautiful and attentive service. As the bride, I suspect the staff were trying not to bother me more than necessary, but it would have been nice to be asked another time or two what beverage I would like (as I am pregnant, I was not drinking wine) but I realize they aimed to please by refilling what I had previously requested. The bar staff pre-opened 5-10 bottles of wine that no one ended up drinking, which was a shame to purchase and not be able to save those for another occasion. There were a few times when communication was crossed between our planner, the rental company, and ourselves, but we were reserving things remotely and may have been confusing.
While we were overseas, we had planned for up to double the number of guests who were actually able to attend, and Vickie was helpful and accommodating at bringing down our final costs for a lower guest count. They also provided a wonderful tasting menu for my parents while we were out of town, and totally blew them away with the memorable service and quality of food they provided. We are very happy with L'Etoile! Thank you.

Above and beyond

L'Etoile Catering Went above and beyond to make our wedding day special and stress-free from start to finish. They were flexible and always easy to contact. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the food and service. The chicken piccata and the short ribs were top notch! We would highly recommend L'Etoile Catering for any special event!

Trustworthy and professional

Letoile was so great to work with. Vickie & Mark were very responsive and professional. They make you feel like family from the very beginning at the initial tasting and then all throughout the planning process. 2020 was a very weird year yet they really helped me make the best of it at my wedding with a safe and delicious meal. L'Etoile catered our wedding reception and it was everything I could have asked for. I felt so comfortable knowing that I had Vickie to help organize rentals (glasses, linens, tables, etc), decide how much alcohol to get, set up the space, etc. She truly is a catering expert and was unbelievably helpful with all of our questions/concerns. During cocktail hour, Vickie specifically sought out my husband and I to bring us appetizers and drinks. But most importantly, the food was OUTSTANDING! All my guests were raving about how it was the best wedding food they had ever had. All the meats were juicy and tender, the ingredients were fresh, and everything was flavorful. The wait staff was friendly and fun to have at the wedding. The price was higher than some places in the area, but lower than many others as well. I feel it was a good value. Would choose L'Etoile again a million times over!

Responsive, reliable and delicious wedding caterer

Mark & Vickie were incredible to work with. We were impressed right from the start after our initial call when we expressed interest in using their services for our big day. Vickie took interest in our history as a couple and it was clear from just speaking with her that she genuinely cared about making out wedding day perfect. Vickie was incredibly responsive throughout the whole process and kept us organized. The food was amazing and our guests have not stopped talking about it. We would definitely recommend them to couples looking for a wedding caterer.

Perfection embodied in Food

Vickie and Mark and their food and staff are absolute perfection. Our guests had nothing but rave reviews, and for foodies like us who still had a budget to think about we couldn't have asked for better. You would be remiss to NOT book them for your wedding.

We used l'etoile catering for our spring wedding earlier this year! I am a huge proponent of "go local" in terms of food, and I really felt as though L'etoile shared this same value. They source their chicken from Polyface farm (featured in Omnivore's Dilemma) and all their other products from Charlottesville area farms whenever possible - there is definitely an attention to quality ingredients! Guests LOVED our food - everything from the specialty cocktail that they helped us formulate, to the hors d'oeurves, and the meal itself. Great attention was made to use in-season ingredients so everything would taste fresh - and I'd say it paid off! Vickie and her husband were very creative with their menus and easy to work with. The actual service provided on the day-of was excellent as well. I can't say that I got quotes from other vendors because we liked L'etoile so much we went with them straight away (actually before we even tasted their food because they were so highly recommended by our wedding planner)...their prices did seem on the higher end, but also did not seem unfair. Overall a great experience and I would recommend them definitely!
