Perfect Day and unique Venue: The Exchange!
We held our ceremony at the historical Montgomery house inside the Marriott. The cocktail hour and reception were both at The Exchange Rooftop Restaurant. Our celebration was on a Sunday so we were able to rent out the entire Exchange restaurant just for our own party.
Flexibility on the Marriotts' part and their event coordinator, Redi surpassed perfection. We were originally scheduled for a wedding when a catastrophic snowstorm hit the area and shut the city down. We were able to move everything to two weeks later without a hitch.
The venue is one of a kind with floor to ceiling windows, the most picturesque view of the city, especially at sunset, and an unforgettable veranda with the best picturesque skyscape.
The food was nothing short of exquisite. They offer above and beyond anything that is on their regular food menu. We are talking extensive meat and cheese boards with all the accompaniments, seafood towers, ahi tuna, oysters, wings, tempura vegetables, hummus, brie bites, lamb kebabs.....and more! That is just appetizers.
The meal is then prepared freshly in front of you with an assortment of pizzas, pasta and wood fired oven baked cod and steak along with some creative salads.
People were literally blown away by the food selection and the diversity of the meal.
I also have to mention the cake was the most beautiful, three tier decorated traditional and actually delicious cake I have ever had at a wedding.
The night continued with nonstop, dancing, and our guests were able to stay right on the property and continue the party downstairs at Plough Restaurant.
It really was such a great weekend and I highly recommend reserving the bridal parlor and groom's quarters to get ready in as well. It just made the day so much more comfortable and seamless with any schedules and the staff was so attentive. Thank you Redi for one of the most memorable and beautiful nights with our closest family and friends. -

Our wedding Day
Redi was our wedding coordinator for our special day. She was so patient and understanding of our cultural wedding. She catered to all of our needs while prepping for the big day and on the day. She was a joy to work with and her warm spirit made our wedding planning even more special. Super grateful we got to work with Redi.

Perfect wedding
Redi Berhe was amazing. She was so helpful, gracious and accommodating. Planning our wedding with Redi was like planning it with my best friend. I always felt she had our best interests at heart and wanted to make our day perfect for us, which was accomplished! The Montgomery House was perfect for our small family wedding. It was very intimate and elegant. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was outstanding and the presentation and service excellent. -

May Wedding
My husband and I had a positive experience working with Redi to plan our May wedding. Our ceremony was within walking distance, which is why we chose Marriott as a reception venue. Redi was very responsive and helpful in answering the many questions I had throughout the planning process. The day of the wedding, everything went smoothly. The feedback from our guests was that it was a great dinner and evening. Overall, I would recommend this venue. -

Johnson/Anastasio Wedding 5/23/2025
When we toured the Marriott as an option to hold our wedding reception we instantly knew that this is where we wanted to have the reception. After touring the Marriott with Redi we were sold. Redi helped us every step of the way with valuable insight into how other couples handled their wedding reception and provided guidance around other pain points couples ran into and how to best avoid those issues. Redi worked diligently over the months to ensure our wedding was exactly what we wanted. She was very responsive to all emails. Her friendliness and attention to detail cannot be overstated. We loved working with Redi and could not have imagined working with anyone else. Our guests and ourselves could not have asked for a more beautiful reception and Redi helped make it possible! We definitely recommend the Marriott as a reception venue and recommend working with Redi to ensure your day is perfect! Thanks Redi! -

Great Spot for a Wedding Room Block
We stayed here for our entire wedding weekend and it was great! We had our wedding room block here and all of our guests loved it. Our room block got completely booked out. The lady who helped us set up our room block was named Candice and she was very attentive and responsive. She provided us with frequent block updates throughout the process. It was definitely one of their busiest days of the year, they were hosting multiple weddings at the hotel, yet we felt like their service never faltered with us. They even let us tour the historical building inside the hotel right before we left. It was so cool! -

Marriott Montgomery House Wedding
My husband and I were planning a small wedding with just 10 guests but we were having difficulty finding the right match for our “micro wedding”. We came across the Montgomery House at the Marriott Lancaster Convention Center and when we reached out to their event team, they immediately welcomed us with open arms, listened to our plans, asked is the right questions, and gave us pricing options upfront. Redi ended up being our event coordinator and answered the long list of questions I had. On the day of our wedding she was even there to make sure everything went smoothly. I am so thankful to Redi, Becky, and their entire team for helping my husband and I have the wedding we wanted. -

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Marriott at Penn Square on 10/1 and we cannot say enough positive things about this venue and those who work here!!!!!!! When you book a wedding at the Marriott, you truly become part of the Marriott family. During the year we spent planning, we got to know and LOVE everyone at this beautiful facility from the doormen to the front desk to the restaurant servers, bartenders, banquet manager, bridal attendant and of course our wedding amazing coordinator, Jenny!!!! Jenny made the entire year for us completely stress free and easy and the whole team exceeded every expectation we had on our wedding day. The food at the reception was unbelievable, service was incredible and our room looked gorgeous. Guests can't stop raving about the weekend and we attribute a big part of this to our Marriott family. HIGHLY recommend for your wedding needs. We can't thank you enough for making our dream wedding a realty!!!!! -

We can not say enough about the Lancaster Marriott. Jenny Mercandetti was our wedding coordinator and amazing does not even do her justice. She was incredibly responsive to any questions we had, was incredible resource through the tasting and the planning, and even came through for us when disaster struck and our rehearsal dinner location shafted us last minute. Beyond Jenny, the staff overall was great, our banquet coordinator Sierra was top notch, and all our guests loved the location in the ballroom. I don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to do so because of how great our experience was. We'll never forget our experience there. -

Jenny Mercandetti is a rock star. From the moment we booked our NYE wedding - we knew we had the right place and person! Our multiple meetings before the wedding were always constructive and efficient - Jenny's communication skills are top-of-the-line. The flexibility we were able to have from storage of favors to flipping the room from ceremony to reception to menu changes that we requested, etc - everything was easy. We didn't go with the standard menu - we had what my wife and I would consider "food stations" and the chef was accomodating and actually enjoyed making up the menu for us. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the mashed potato and mac and cheese bar was - as well as the pork bbq sliders and different pasta stations. Jenny was there from hours before our event started and stayed until we left the room as the last people to leave. When touring other properties before we chose the Marriott we didn't like how there were multiple people in charge of our event - not with the Marriott...Jenny takes care of everything and has a great working relationship with many vendors in the greater Lancaster, PA area. The hotel rooms were clean and our guests enjoyed them. Jenny was loved by all members of our bridal party and she took care of everything. The venue is nice, clean, easy with the attached parking garage and the staff were all very great. -

I am SO glad we chose the Marriott! From the moment we met Jenny Mercandetti, we knew we were making the right choice. In fact, she was a factor in our decision, since she seemed so professional, organized, and personable. She remained that way throughout the entire process, and is now our friend. The hotel is beautiful and location can't be beat. The bridal/honeymoon suite is stunning. And all of the staff involved truly deserve accolades. Guests complimented the staff during our reception, and they were very pleased with the bartenders! The guests were all very pleasantly surprised with the strength and depth of their drinks, as well as the speediness with which they were delivered. The two bars were spaced at different sides to keep things going smooth, and a little lounge area had been set up by each. We were planning from a different city, and we just couldn't make a tasting work. No need - the food was delicious! (I highly recommend the teriyaki chicken skewers, fried mozzarella ravioli, steak, and spinach risotto for vegetarians.) The staff did a great job with setting up the room (Commonwealth Ballroom), which turned out to be the perfect size for our group of about 140. They set up the centerpieces exactly as I had pictured them. Finally, I must rave about Dara, the bridal attendant. We weren't able to be at the cocktail hour, and when we sat at our sweetheart table, she brought copious amounts of hors d'oeuvres to us. She kept us drinking all night, well fed, and even had everything boxed up for us at the end of the night. She had the gifts in our room along with our leftovers (so much food!) and our centerpieces and kids corner items near the front desk for easy loading the next day. Dara, Jenny, Josh, and all the staff, thank you for the best night of our lives! -

Jenny Mercandetti and her team of banquet professionals were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I worked banquets for years before planning my own wedding, but had forgotten just how much detail goes into everything. From making sure all of our guests were accommodated in their room block, to putting in last-minute requests to the kitchen for bridal party lunch, Jenny really kept the day running smoothly from start-to-finish. She was so helpful (and reassuring) for me (a very anxious bride) to have worked with. She made suggestions for our menu, songs, room placement, etc. - she walked us through every step and was so patient! The Marriott is a wonderful venue with lots of historic Lancaster charm. We used the Montgomery House for our bridal prep, had our reception in Commonwealth Ballroom, and had a wonderful time introducing our guests to the many nearby spots that are our favorites. Plus, nothing beats being able to walk up to your honeymoon suite in the evening (and enjoy complimentary champagne and treats!). We love Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square! -

I am a wedding planner in the Berks County area and I can honestly say that my wedding reception at the Marriott was the most wonderful experience of my life. I worked with Jenny Mercandetti and she saw that every detail and idea was executed. We had the absolute BEST experience planning and having our wedding reception at the Marriott in the Heritage ballroom. From the moment we had our initial tour of the venue to the time we checked out of our hotel room the day after our wedding we had all our dreams come true! Jenny (our coordinator) was AMAZING! She was super organized, kind, answered any questions we had in a timely fashion, was upfront with everything, and made our day so smooth and effortless. Her and her staff made our reception absolutely flawless. It was everything we asked for/planned for and then some! She made my husband and I feel so welcome as well as our families as we were planning the reception. We had several out of town guests at our wedding as well. Jenny set up a room block and it was so convenient to have our reception there so our guests could leave the party and go to the bar to continue the evening or right back to their rooms and not worry about driving. We LOVED it! if you are looking for a venue that exceeds your wishes, is very professional and responsive, definitely go to the Marriott and ask for Jenny Mercandetti!Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square's reply:
It was such a pleasure working with you, Amy, your husband, and both of your families. Thank you so very much for all of your kind words. We are over the moon that your special day was everything that you dreamed it to be. We truly loved every minute working with you throughout the planning process and then seeing everything unfold on your wedding day. We all feel so fortunate to have been a part of your day. I have to start by saying that this is the first time I have ever written a review. My daughter and son-in-law recently had their wedding reception at the Penn Square Marriott and I was so taken by our experience there that I felt compelled to write one. We were very fortunate to work with Jenny Mercandetti from the hotel as our Wedding Coordinator. She is extremely friendly and organized and she listens carefully. My daughter was looking for a unique setup and Jenny followed her wishes to a "T". We had a taste testing and the food was really delicious, but I honestly wondered if it would be as tasty at the reception when they were feeding a crowd, but Chef Eric delivered. The food was fabulous and we received many compliments from our guests. Wayne was our bartender and he and the serving staff did a wonderful job as well. When people ask me about my daughter's wedding I tell them that it was the perfect day. Many thanks to Jenny, Eric, Wayne, and the entire staff at the Marriott for a day we will never forget!Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square's reply:
Thank you so much for your review. It was a wonderful experience working with you, Cassie, and Matt! It's so hard to believe that it has been nearly 5 months since their wedding day! Thank you again and we hope to see you soon! -

Working on my wedding with Jenny Mercandetti and the Lancaster Marriott was absolutely wonderful! Jenny was extremely helpful and responsive to my calls and terrific at helping us make decisions regarding our special day. She made me feel like we were so special! The food for our event was fabulous -- our friends are still talking about it and everything that the Marriott did -- the planning, the setup, the food, the service, the lighting, the staff -- was top quality. And our guests raved about their stay there and how hospitable the staff was to their needs. They are the best!Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square's reply:
Jane,
Thank you so very much! Your wedding was a dream for us, too! I can still see you dancing on the clouds and all of the small touches that contributed to your overall beautiful theme of your night. Right off the bat - this venue is gorgeous! Your guests will love the grand feeling of this venue, and you will love the flexibility it offers in planning an affordable wedding. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Lancaster and is walkable to Central Market, Fulton Theater, and other attractions. But that's only the beginning of the great things about this place.
I literally cannot say enough good things about the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and our AMAZING event coordinator and staff. I contacted them just 7 short months before our May (high wedding season) wedding and was nervous that they'd already be booked - thank goodness they weren't! Jenny was our Event Coordinator and she was, hands down, THE BEST. She was so flexible in working with us to create the unique look and feel we wanted for our wedding, and she saw to literally every detail. She was incredibly organized, friendly, and professional from our very first phone conversation to follow-up items after the wedding. On the day of the wedding, we literally didn't lift a finger. I walked into my reception and was floored by how beautifully they'd set it up. Jenny and her team (including Becky, Kristen, and Rasit - all rock stars!) took care of every last detail so that all we needed to do was have fun and enjoy ourselves. They even boxed up all of our decorations and gifts and had them neatly placed in our room after the reception.
I'd recommend this venue to anyone, ESPECIALLY with Jenny as your planner. We seriously had the best day, and it was largely thanks to these guys!Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square's reply:
Thank you so very much, Cassie, for all of your comments. Working with you, your fiancé, and your family was such a joy. It's hard to believe that your wedding day was nearly two months ago! We are thrilled that you were so pleased with the service you received and with your overall wedding experience. We sincerely appreciate all of your wonderful feedback and we will always remember your special day. Congratulations to you and Matt! -

The Lancaster Marriott was the perfect venue for our wedding! The hotel is stunning, but what is better than the hotel is the staff. They made our wedding day perfect! Megan Harbold, our wedding coordinator, was like our guardian angel of weddings. She is very organized and dedicated to her job and made our wedding perfect. Whenever we came across a concern or issue, she found a way to fix it. She made great suggestions, and helped us think of things we didn’t think of. Whenever the wedding stress heightened, a meeting with Megan Harbold from the Marriott would put me at ease.
The whole team at the Marriott was awesome and we couldn’t have had a better wedding! I would highly recommend the Marriott as a place to host your perfect day.

We can recall searching long and hard for a venue that could accommodate all our needs and we are both grateful and glad that the Lancaster Marriott was that place for us. Everything for our reception came together beautifully, we had a wonderful time, and even our guests had great things to say about the quality of the food and service and the gorgeous facilities.
We would especially like to acknowledge Sarah for demonstrating a number of characteristics that impressed us in the following ways:
Flexible, Patient, and Personable. Despite countless emails, phone calls, and meetings or dealing with changes in plans, Sarah always demonstrated flexibility, patience, and maintained composure even when things were hectic. Most importantly, we appreciated her personable character which made it easy for us to work hand-in-hand with her.
Ability to Execute With Detail. With 280 guests and a reception full of details and intricate logistics, we know execution was no easy feat. We appreciate the long hours Sarah put in to help make our plans a reality, escalating questions/concerns and providing guidance along the way. Melissa Watro was our event coordinator at the Lancaster Marriott, and she was AMAZING! She was so helpful, calm, cool and collected and made our wedding day a breeze! Not a single thing went wrong thanks to her! Our guests raved about the food, the venue, and the service! Wonderful!! -

I booked the hotel before it was even built. While it was a little stressful, Sarah Health and Melissa Watro talked through everything with me whenever I needed it. On our wedding day, every little detail was perfect: The food, the tables and all of the little details. Most of the guests were from out-of-town and said they were going to book another stay at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. -

It was simple and intimate, the way we wanted it. It was a very cozy location at in the Montgomery house. It was easy to forget you were in a hotel. The hotel room we got was beautiful with great views and there was rose petals! A fantastic experience and I would recommend this venue to anyone who is having a small, intimate wedding. -

We had our wedding reception at the Lancaster Marriott and we could not have asked for a better day. We loved working with Jenny Mercandetti. She was so great when we viewed the venue and she was part of the reason we decided to have our reception there. She was very helpful and receptive of any questions along the way. She made it easy not to worry because we knew she had everything under control. We rented the bridal parlor to get ready and I seriously recommend this! The room was gorgeous and relaxing! It was a great space for me and my bridesmaids to get ready. Jenny made sure we were taken care of all day and had water and champagne sent up. She also arranged a delicious lunch for us that all of my bridesmaids raved about. They executed our vision perfectly and our ballroom was even more gorgeous than I could have imagined. Our bridal attendant, Dara, was absolutely amazing! She made sure we did not have to worry about anything during the reception and even got our gifts up to the bridal suite for the night. She was so attentive and sweet. We thought everything went perfectly and highly recommend hosting your reception at the Marriott. -

Outstanding Experience
We had our wedding reception in the Heritage Ballroom at Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and we are so happy we chose this venue!! Our coordinator Becky was fantastic and truly went above and beyond for us with planning and answering all of our questions. The staff was so helpful with set up and throughout the reception. We really appreciate all the effort and hard work. Plough and Exchange are fantastic restaurants on the premises and having the hotel rooms on site made it so easy for our guests along with the other amenities of the hotel. We will be sure to refer anyone in the future to use this place for events and we look forward to visiting again! -

Marriott in Lancaster
Redi was absolutely fantastic to work with. We highly recommend her. The entire experience with her was great. We really enjoyed the opportunity to bring our family and friends in for a tasting and sample the menu to choose for the big day. Redi made sure everything went smooth on our big day. She was even patient and worked with us when some family members waited to the last day to RSVP! She was there for us every step of the way and we can’t thank her enough. The experience with the Marriott was great. Had the most beautiful suite overlooking Lancaster and got free breakfast the next day. Looking forward to our free dinner and stay during our 1 year anniversary. -

NYE Wedding 2021
I held my wedding ceremony & reception at the Marriott on 12.31.21. My mind was truly blown by your accommodating staff.
Becky- wow…what a rockstar! Talk about someone who goes ABOVE and BEYOND what is expected of them. I was originally nervous working with the Marriott because it’s such a large organization and that my event would get “lost,” but boy was I wrong. Becky/The Marriott catered to my every need and made any request happen.I was especially nervous the week before my wedding when everyone and their brother came down with covid and how that would be handled due, but again Becky reassured me that everything would be okay and that the Marriott would do what was fair to make it right. I also had some issues with our pastor and Becky was able to keep everything on track and assure that thing were continuing to run smoothly. She adjusted her schedule to review wedding details based on my schedule, and I will forever be grateful that Becky was apart of my big day.
Additionally her assistant, Sam- also a rockstar. She attended to my every need the night of the wedding and made sure whatever I needed happened. Her service was 5+ stars!!!!
Lastly, Bellman Don! Ahhh what a guy! He made all our wedding guests feel so welcomed as he helped them with their things. I have never attended an event before where so many guests commented to me on how much they loved the bellman.
GIVE THEM ALL RAISES!!!! 😊 haha- but seriously I just wanted tom make sure management was made aware of what an awesome job your staff did to ensure our wedding was a success. You should be especially proud because of the nationwide staff shortage and the lack of customer service that is out there right now (covid ruined everything and has lowered everyone’s customer service expectations). So very impressive that your staff was present, helpful, and so kind.

Overall, we were happy with our decision to have our ceremony and reception at the Marriott. Allison was great to work with, and we liked that we were able to use an outside caterer. We were a little concerned that we were being charged for the room block if we didn't fill enough rooms (even when they released them a few weeks prior), but we were able to work with them. I liked getting ready in the bridal suite, and the attached mansion was great for the rehearsal dinner. It was convenient to have everything in the same place, and the Marriott was a great spot for it. -

We originally wanted an outdoor venue for our wedding, but when we walked into the Marriott and experienced all it had to offer, we were sold on it. It really was a special and gorgeous venue that exceeded our expectations. The Marriott also over delivered on our requests. We asked for several special day of requests and they exceeded each on one! Execution and organization was flawless. We were set up w/ Megan Harbold and when she exited, Sarah Heath took care of us. She was such a fantastic planner and kept things organized that I didnt need to hire a separate day-of planner! There were several times that we had a slight delay in communication, but given all the events that they handled, it was understandable. However most importantly, the week of our wedding all eyes were on us and even the tiniest of details were handled...and exceeded! A special thanks to the lighting team and Michael who was our point of contact for all dinning needs during our reception. Marriott's team was exceptional! -

We had our ceremony and reception in the Heritage ballroom at the Lancaster Marriott. We were looking for a location the had everything in one place (ceremony, reception, catering, on-site lodging) and we absolutely found that at the Marriott. The venue is beautiful, if you can get past the carpet (the carpet does not seem to be as loud or as much of a focal point once there's tables/chairs in the room). The staff was great the day of the event, with people checking to make sure everything was ok and going out of their way to make sure everything went well. I felt like royalty! The food was great and I thought we got a good value for the price.
When I started the planning process, I worked with Megan at the Marriott. She was great and promptly answer all of my questions. She left a few months into the planning and my wedding was transferred to Marcia. Marcia was also great and really knew what she was doing, however it seemed like she was overseeing several departments and didn't get back to me all that quickly at times. For the mostly part, it was fine, but if patience isn't your thing, you might struggle. Overall, I thought everything went great and am very pleased that I choice to get married at the Marriott. -

Romantic & Modern Cocktail Reception
For the reception of my wedding; I was really aiming for an intimate setting; good flow for guests to converse and mingle - and super modern. The Exchange was this wrapped into a perfect space to hold this event. A 360 bar doesn’t hurt either! As the bride, the room was easy to work and truly interact with all guests. We filled the space with 107 guests. I spoke to every guest. We had a buffet style meal - and no assigned seating. It was incredible. The guests loved this modern-take. All staff was unbelievable. I miss them!! Working closely with Redi was also a dream. She’s the fairy God Mother you see on the movies. She had my back and served all my needs with excitement and energetic spirits. Ryan, head Chef, was superb. Kevin, Lead Bartender didn’t leave the guests disappointed. I’d say I want to do it all over again, but truly it went off without a hitch… and with that - It was a major success ❤️ The Exchange is a super elegant, romantic edgy spot for a reception! Right in the heart of downtown Lancaster, Pa. -

William Montgomery Wedding
We loved our wedding held at the William Montgomery House through the Marriott. The food and venue was exceptional. We appreciated how we could customize the catering rather than only using the wedding package which had a lot of things we would not have taken advantage of.
On service/ professionalism, we had great interactions until the day-before the wedding when we were supposed to set up the rooms and it seemed there was miscommunication between the teams and forgetting of conversations we had that caused me to redo the entire itinerary of the day. Every group/ team seemed to rectify the situation quickly but it definitely added stress heading into the wedding day unsure of how things would play out. It ended up going very well on the wedding day and from this experience I still wouldn’t change a thing with having our wedding at the Montgomery house, I would just give some time buffer to make sure everything is squared away. -

Flexible and affordable
We recently had both our ceremony and reception in the Heritage Ballroom and were very pleased with how the day turned out. We really enjoyed the scenic downtown view, the flexibility to make the space our own and the on-site facilities (Bridal Suite and Charter Board Room) available for both wedding parties to get ready in. We had a few bumps along the way: our wedding coordinator switching, some miscommunication and our biggest issues was handling our room block. We were told to only book a few rooms at a time and were assured that we wouldn't have any issues adding more. Before we knew it, the entire hotel was sold out and we weren't even notified in order to plan accordingly. This lead us to have our guests split over multiple hotels. Overall, we really enjoyed, the food and drink options, the day of service (every last detail was handled) and the very inclusive packages available. The Downtown location gives easy access to many different attractions that the city has to offer and can definitely keep guests entertained. We definitely recommend the Marriott, especially if you're looking for inclusive packages and getting the most out of your money -

We held our wedding reception at the Marriott at Penn Square and had a bit of a roller coaster experience. To start, we had a pretty difficult time getting in touch with anyone to even view the venue. Many phone calls and emails went unanswered for several weeks. Once we were actually able to figure out some contacts and view the venue, we loved it. What was offered was an excellent value and Jenny Mercandetti seemed to be easy to work with. Throughout the planning process, Jenny was extremely responsive, helpful, and knowledgable and very easy to work with.
We had a VERY happy wedding day, but there are some points that would be worthwhile for future brides and grooms to be aware of. We experienced a significant delay in our dinner service. Salads were on the table for nearly an hour. In fact, our head table was finished with our entrees before any of our other guests had even been served dinner. We made the team aware of this issue, and they were nice enough to extend our reception half an hour, including bar service. When we viewed the venue, one of the major selling points to my husband and I was the bridal attendant, who was supposed to essentially cater to our needs, grab us drinks when needed, etc. -- our "go-to" person. We were EXTREMELY disappointed that this person was nowhere to be found nearly the entire night. We were introduced to her once at the beginning of the evening, and talked to her one other time throughout the entire event. Not remotely close to what they build this service to be.
Overall, food was great and the reception was BEAUTIFUL. A great time was had by all, but there are certainly some things you will want to work out very closely with Jenny ahead of time! And I would still recommend the Marriott! -

I had my wedding reception at the Lancaster Marriott.
We were very disappointed with the food service at the reception. Dinner service was approximately an hour late and even with the late service about 20-25 guests waited up to additional hour for their food while other guests had undercooked filet mignon. We really tried to plan every detail to make our day perfect but this was a huge let down and it was very distracting to fully enjoy our special day. On a positive note, Jenny is an absolute joy to work with and made the wedding planning up to the day of the event very enjoyable. I felt bad for her that the service staff also let her down on everything she had helped us plan! -

the hotel was the biggest headache of all our vendors : (
We had our wedding block at the Marriott Penn Square this past June (2019). While the hotel is beautiful, it is the only option in its class in the area and unfortunately was a headache to work with from beginning to end. It started with the group sales manager providing misinformation on room availability, stating the entire hotel was sold out 10-months in advance due to a large convention. We were redirected to working with Josh, who was largely responsive and worked hard to accommodate our needs. However, the headaches continued as we received multiple complaints and questions from our wedding guests trying to make reservations on our room block. After numerous inquiries we learned our guests were continuously given inaccurate information such as: 'the block is full' (it wasn't), 'there is a two night booking minimum' (there wasn't), 'You don't have a room booked on this room block already' (they did have a room booked previously and therefore accidentally booked a second room), 'that room block doesn't exist at this hotel' (it did). This incompetence ultimately led to us relaying messages to our wedding guests to make reservations through the website only.
The night before our wedding day (friday) our wedding party and family arrived at the hotel to check in ahead of the rehearsal dinner. Numerous guests waited over an hour to pull in to the hotel lot out front, only to find out they could pull around the building to park in a garage as there were no hotel staff and/or signs directing guests to the garage. Due to their standard late check-out, check-in at this hotel isn't until 4pm, which creates much chaos for events. This created an issue as only myself and my husband were able to check-in early, leaving our wedding party and family to pile in our room or wait and arrive late to our event. Of all our vendors in the area, the Marriott proved to be the biggest headache and caused immense aggravation through our planning process.
To relay one positive, Josh worked very hard to correct prior mistakes and accommodate our needs, although we were not compensated in any way for the endless headaches the hotel caused. The day of our wedding (Saturday), the hotel and front desk staff was fortunately able to get all guests checked in on time to make it on the shuttles. Finally, we had a brunch the morning after that was FABULOUS! The event coordinator, Rebecca, was thorough, professional, accommodating and very responsive from the very beginning! She made sure everything was taken care of and all the details were set, she even made custom signs that were displayed in the lobby and hall to guide guests to our brunch!! The space they set up was perfect for our group as it was away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the hotel. The food was great and there were designated staff for our event. I was beyond pleased with how well the brunch went and how well it was planned!! Overall this is a beautiful hotel, but it seems as though they take liberties with their customer service as they continue to expand.

Extremely Disorganized and Inflexible
I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a hotel block for your wedding. Our guests had all kinds of problems with their online booking system and the site would even direct people away from booking in our block if there was a rate even one dollar cheaper. We had to call to manually add people to our block to ensure we covered enough rooms so we didn’t owe a bunch of money. On top of this, they screwed up OUR reservation and didn’t care that we had brought all this business to them and that we were the couple getting married. There was really no hospitality or warmth from the staff there. If you have a smaller wedding (under 100) I would look elsewhere for a hotel block. -

We used the Marriott for our room block, and also for our farewell brunch for our guests. The room block went well, besides the front desk routinely forgetting to give out the welcome bags we had made for our guests. This review is mainly for the breakfast afterwards. I am embarrassed that I had my friends and family come to a breakfast that was so disorganized. First, there was no sign as to where the breakfast was being held. I had to stand by the stairs and keep a look out for my guests. We had 60 guests for breakfast, but only 40 seats. There were only 2 waitresses, who were always leaving to get something from the kitchen(which took about 15 minutes for them to return). MY own parents had to clean tables because the waitresses were not cleaning them. We ran out of coffee and coffee cups constantly. The room was sweltering, and no one seemed to know how to change the temperature. No one of management status checked in on us during the event, we were left at the hands of 2 waitresses who wanted to be anywhere but our event. The worst part?? We reached out to Marriott management and the coordinator who planned all of this, and never heard back. Beyond disappointed with the Marriott and their staff. -

Complete Fiasco
I hosted a private event at The Exchange Rooftop Bar in Lancaster PA on 10/9/22, after daughter's wedding reception and it was a complete fiasco. I am still irate over the way my guests were treated.
The restaurant manager was incompetent, the bar tenders were rude, and the security guards were hostile -

Overall, incredibly disappointed with my experience with the Lancaster Marriott from almost beginning to end. Decided to obtain a room block from this hotel for our wedding on 8/12/17. The Marriott seemed like the perfect place given its location and beauty. However, everything began to go downhill once Jennifer was assigned to us. We signed the contract (after much waiting) and she went MIA. We called and emailed several times and barely heard from her to confirm any simple information we requested. This included reserving our own rooms for our wedding night (we were requesting a Junior Suite in advance). We understand hotels are busy but for almost $200 a night per guest (and that's the discounted rate) we expected someone to actually care about our business.
Once everything was in place we expected it to run smoothly. However, this was just the beginning. On the day of the wedding, my husband was unable to check into the Junior Suite to get ready with his groomsmen. He was informed that he would be called once it opened up but was never called. H had to keep coming back and keep checking with them. When he came back, they said, oh yes it's ready. If it was ready why wouldn't you call?
They additionally informed him that they didn't have record of us paying for the rooms which we had ran through Jennifer months and month before. This led to them charging me DOUBLE for the room and then apologizing later on when they realized we had already paid. Gonna remind you once again, this all happened on the day of the wedding when we should have been relaxing and preparing for the big day. They were unable to take off the charge until the bank processed the refund, which left us with over 600 dollars missing for our honeymoon. -
