We checked into to this resort on October 23, 2025 in preparation for our daughter's wedding that weekend at the resort. After reading several reviews I was nervous especially from being out of town and hosting 200+ guests for the weekend. From the time we checked in and throughout the entire weekend I could not have been happier with how everything played out! It is true, this is an older venue, it has it's visible flaws, however the service, kindness, and overall vibe really overshadow the flaws! Larry was so accommodating with our ever changing rooms / guests / stays etc. Aaron was very responsive to all of our wedding needs, April and Josh were complete superstars especially the day of the wedding. My daughter may not have been bridezilla but her mom, "me", is very demanding. Audrey may have been everyone's favorite person by the end of the weekend, she kept us so very well hydrated and kept the party pumping for everyone. The wedding was on Saturday, the appetizers were amazing, the food was warm and tasted great. Every need we had was met with a smile and generosity. We even had an after party in the bar after the reception with pizza and burgers. Everyone has raved about what an amazing weekend they had, not one person complained about the rooms, the age of ithe hotel or anything else. With a few upgrades this will be THE place to have weddings in the future. It was so nice to have everyone on the same property for the whole weekend. -

Our Perfect Wedding
Lakeview was the only place we looked at for a wedding venue and it was the best choice. My husband and I are actually from Pa and wanted to do a close destination wedding. We went with all their recommended vendors and they all were great. I loved the fact that they did the wedding set up and supplied basic linens, centerpieces, tables and all the things that can really increase the wedding costs . The food was great and the staff was amazing! We also got to take advantage of the golf course, the lake, pool and restaurants nearby during our little mini wedding vacation. Great location!! Lakeview was perfect and made our wedding process stressful! I wouldn’t have changed a thing. -

Emily Sent on 12/11/2017Lakeview was the only reception venue that I even looked at or considered when I first became engaged. They lived up to their reputation, and our night was magical thanks to their help. Not only is Lauren and Rachel wonderful at their jobs, but the entire staff at Lakeview is so friendly, accomadating, and interactive with the guests to assure everyone is having a wonderful time! I will say, I was a very particular bride. I had a vision of how I wanted every detail to be, and with my aunts artistic touch-we made all of our decor ourselves. At times, I worried if the staff would be able to set up everything as I envisioned it in my head, but to my surprise-IT WAS FLAWLESS! I walked into a breathtaking reception which was everything I imagined and MORE! It's safe to say, even when times get crazy throughout your planning, you can count on the staff at Lakeview to give you too-notch service! I'm so happy I was a Lakeview Bride.

The food was amazing (all my guests still talk about it). They were very professional and made sure they had an understanding of what I wanted. For the price and amount of guests I could not have done better. -

Natalie Sent on 12/07/2011AMAZING!!! For anyone getting married in the morgantown area check them out. Not only do they have a beautiful view they do it all for you. My day was so much less stressful because the staff at Lakeview had it all taken care of. Our Wedding Sales lady Rachel Walker, was so organized and really took care of all my needs. What you get at Lakeview is really wonderful they have great packages for any size budget and the work with bakeries in the area so the wedding cake is included (although there was an issue with the cake so see my review on that.) They went above and beyond and the food was to die for and my day was perfect, I was pleased, and so were my guest!!! They really include it all I am still amazed at what we got for the price we paid!!! -

Our Perfect Day!
Our day came together perfectly! The staff at Lakeview really pulled all the stops on our wedding day to make it a great experience for us and our guests. They always had staff to cart us and our guests to the ceremony location on the 10th tee and for photo opportunities. The food and service was excellent for dinner! All our guests said the food was very tasty and warm. They were super flexible with table and chair arrangements for the ceremony and reception. There was a slight lapse in communication when they let go the original wedding coordinator but that was resolved. Clean-up was also very flexible and our decor was respected by the staff. The resort is still under some renovations but they made sure everyone who made a reservation for our room block got the newly renovated rooms. While the resort is not fully back in swing they definitely performed well for our wedding and it was everything we hoped for. -

When we first went with this venue we were a little skeptical I must say. But through everything, the event coordinator, Savannah, was excellent! She made sure everything was perfect the day of our wedding! Same with the staff. They were all very attentive, friendly, and genuinely as excited as we were! I believe there is always going to be some issues when planning an event but the way they are handled makes the difference and in my experience with Lakeview and all the staff, they handled everything perfect!!! They went above and beyond to make our day as special and as perfect as it could possibly be and we are so grateful for all of them! Also, the food was excellent as well! The chef did a great job. All of our guests complimented on both dishes we had served. The service for our plated meals were wonderful and friendly to the guests. The bartender was incredible and friendly! The ballroom had been recently renovated and it was beautiful and worked perfectly with our decorations! Thank you Savannah and the rest of the staff for everything! Our day was perfect thanks to all you did for us! -

Floann Sent on 05/18/2018We have had all three of our daugter's weddings at Lakeview in the Reflections Ballroom over a 10 year span. We love the ambience of the library and the ballroom. The convenience of having your out-of-town guest staying in the hotel as well is a huge advantage for the celebration. We have also had the pleasure of working with Rachel Bucklew for two of those weddings and she was absolutely wonderful to work with.

Tynetta Sent on 05/02/2018My Husband and I got married on April 21, 2018 of this year. I had went through 3 different wedding planners from when I started planning my wedding at Lakeview Resort. We ended up with Lauren finishing out our wedding. She was absolutely amazing very responsive and if she didn't know something she would find out the answer and get back with us. We used the Grand Ball Room for our ceremony and reception it was a great deal and it accommodated our family and friends perfectly. They did and amazing job decorating and making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. I was so afraid that my wedding/reception wouldn't start on time and Lauren made sure everything was perfect for the DJ, Photographer, and the Videographer. We absolutely love Lauren she would be our choice to help plan anything we would have in the future. The only complaints I would have would be for the food. We had our rehearsal dinner there and our food was cold and not good we paid almost $900.00 and for the wedding reception the food was good but they ran out and had guests waiting for food to come out. We paid $15.45 for chicken tenders and fries for kids and they were freezer burnt. Otherwise everyone was amazing from Lauren, Staff, to our amazing Maitre d. I would recommend Lakeview for other weddings they would just need to do better with their food presentation.

The venue is beautiful. Wee got married on the tenth tee at the gazebo and it was gorgeous! It’s a little on the pricey side, but we got lots of compliments on the food. They set up and take down everything for you as long as you label where it goes. Only thing that I had issues with was the communication. It was very difficult to get in contact and stay in contact with the coordinator. Some times it would take weeks or several repetitive emails for us to get in contact with her. I will say that communication was better these few weeks before the wedding. -

My perspective is as a guest, so that that as you may. The staff seemed on point and everything appeared to run smooth from my point of view. My comments are mostly on the details. I got to see the bride's ready room, which was a meeting room in the basement with 3 mirrors propped up on the wall. Hardly any natural lighting for putting on makeup or places to get dressed without garments being placed on furniture or floor. I know she and the groom were stressed because of this, so the bride took over their room/suite and the groomsmen ended up in another smaller hotel room to get ready. (the hotel rooms are outdated and ours didn't have micro or fridge). The decorations and table setting were all in place, but the chair covers in the reception hall were in need of replacement - multiple holes to the point I thought the covers were all dirty. The heavy appetizers were ok, but the chicken skewers were raw, and they didn't have enough kids meals to provide my daughter one, so we had to share another kid's plate in order to feed her (since the chicken was raw and inedible). I believe everything else might have been ok, but these are things I noticed as a guest. -

During the reception, the staff was wearing yoga pants and sweatpants. I had multiple family members say that one of the employees was stoned while they were setting up.
We paid $5 a person for a soda bar, which we just didn't get.
The carpet in our newly renovated ballroom wasn't stretched out and several guests tripped on the carpet.
The bar inside of our ballroom was significantly more expensive than the bar just outside of the ballroom in the hotel. I was told this is common practice, but I feel like it should have been disclosed to us prior to booking the cash bar.
My dad had to wipe down all of the windows in the ballroom because there was still dust from construction.
During our complimentary champagne toast, we had a table not get any champagne.
Water glasses were filled up once during the entire time we were there.
Thankfully, the venue did compensate us for the soda bar and $250 off our service charge.
Unfortunately, I has to be a Karen in order to get more than just the soda bar taken off.
Our event coordinator was absolutely amazing and super helpful the entire process. She was amazing!
I would not recommend them to another bride -

UPDATE: It has been 6 months since my original review and 4 Years since I was promised a refund. There have been no attempts by the Lakeview to contact me or provide the refund.
Original Review: BEWARE! Do Not Have Your Wedding or Event Here! My Fiancé and I were scheduled to have our wedding here in July of 2020. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, this has to be postponed and eventually canceled. I tried to work with the events team and the manager to figure out how to proceed, but I kept getting switched to different people and then our calls were not answered at all. The contract promised a refund as they were not able to hold our event, and the manager confirmed this, but to this day I have not received any money back. I had to get a lawyer involved and have an order from the judge for us to be refunded, but have still not gotten any money 3 years later. This venue proceeded to dodge our attempts to reach them ever since. I Repeat: Do Not Have Your Event Here!
