We had our wedding at La Venta Inn last summer & it was absolutely perfect. Aside from the incredibly gorgeous views, gardens, and vintage architecture, the team at La Venta made the whole process smooth & fun. They hooked us up with an amazing wedding planner, handled all things related to the catering, and had a great staff working on the day. It was our dream wedding & our guests were so impressed. -

La Venta was a wonderful venue for our October wedding. They handled so many of the complicated parts of our event, the price was very reasonable, the food was delicious, and of course the venue itself was stunning. La Venta even helped us find our amazing planner, Helen Vonghack (@eighteenplacecards), and our whole event went off without a hitch.

We got married at La Venta Inn in September 2024 and it was truly everything we could have asked for. The centerpiece here, and a large part of why we chose this venue, is the spectacular view overlooking the ocean which made for such beautiful pictures. Besides the natural beauty of the area, the building itself is a historic villa which felt cozy and intimate and yet comfortably accommodated our guest count of 100. Savannah was our contact person and was very responsive to emails, including some last minute seating changes we had in the weeks leading up to the wedding
La Venta works exclusively with Made by Meg for catering - Kat was our contact person and was fantastic to work with. Note that they do not allow outside food vendors, but they were able to accommodate some of our special requests such as requests to source a specific brand of ice cream so that we could make our wedding unique to us. We got so many compliments from our guests on how delicious the food was.
The other exclusive vendor that they are contracted with is Vox DJs. This is the only vendor that we had a less than stellar experience with. They performed their duties fine on the day of the wedding, with the exception of forgetting to set up the dance lights we had paid for, but the communication and planning leading up the wedding did not go as smoothly as I hoped, and I wish that we had the flexibility to go with a DJ company of our own choosing. However I understand the restrictions given that La Venta is a historic site.
Overall, our wedding at La Venta was memorable, beautiful, and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a gorgeous venue with spectacular ceremony views. With a venue like this, you really only need a good florist (we used Flowernoon Shop) and a talented photographer (June Choi Photography) to bring out the natural beauty of the venue - you really don't need a lot of other rentals, draping, etc. We are so happy we had our wedding here! -

Monica Sent on 08/10/2017Oh La Venta.... I have so many great things to say about our experience here over the last year - we just got married last weekend. First, Charla was our coordinator and I wish I could write a novel about how much I love this woman. I inquired online, she was prompt in her response and we were able to swing by the venue to check it out on very short notice (I was early for an appointment at Terranea) so we swung by as it was on our way. The second we pulled into La Venta, I knew we would have to get married there... and so the planning began. Charla, from start to finish has been the most amazing coordinator, organizer, relaxer, & now, friend. We did our engagement shots here too, since we couldn't think of a better place to capture some love! At our wedding, we had about 100 people, three food stations, DJ, photographer, videographer, and photo booth. Charla made it ALL HAPPEN so easily and I literally experienced ZERO stress the week leading up to the day and the day of. Everything went smoothly (as smoothly as possible, everyone knows small things can go wrong), our photos, signs, favors, decorations were all preserved and packed up waiting for us when we came back to pick them up. Charla was accommodating & efficient and we all could tell how much she wanted our day to go just right. All of our guests have said how beautiful the venue was, they complimented the food, the bartenders (shout out Carla!), the chefs, everything. I couldn't imagine our wedding anywhere else.
Notes: You get the whole grounds to yourself the whole evening. Uber private and so much more intimate.

Diana Sent on 06/18/2013I had my wedding at La Venta Inn, in May 2013. Everything about the event was absolutely perfect! The weather was amazing and allowed us to have a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Our coordinator Tim Kennedy ran our wedding so smoothly, it was like a dream. The food (by New York Food Company) and cake were delicious!!! My groom and I made sure we took our time to enjoy all of it and we did, we were able to have a taste of everything served. Mostly due to Tim bringing us appetizers while we got away from the party in the bridal cottage after the ceremony while our guests were enjoying cocktail hour. He really made sure we were taken care of and fed. Our DJ rocked the party ‘till 11 PM and we had no issues with the noise restrictions at La Venta due to the surrounding residential area. So many of our guests are gushing over how beautiful our venue was and how much fun they had at our wedding. I've had a few people tell us that we should get married all over again and again 'cause they want to relive the day. I hope that I am lucky enough to attend a wedding at La Venta Inn as a guest in the future or else I might not be able to resist attending any (and every) bridal show hosted there. LOL It is just so perfect!
The only words of caution I have to give (and this could happen anywhere, so I am not in any way blaming La Venta Inn) is to make sure to have your coordinator either lock the room where your gifts will be stored or better yet assign someone from your wedding party to immediately put them away in a vehicle after guests have arrived and deposited them on your gift table. We found out the day after our wedding that our envelopes (monetary gifts) went missing the night of our event and I had done neither of the above suggestions. It is a shame that this happened but there is no way it could put a damper on our wedding because everything else was so magical and perfect that we did not allow it to ruin our day.

Mia Sent on 07/28/2012I started looking for venues early on in the wedding process and it was difficult to find a place that was both beautiful and affordable until I found La Venta Inn.
To be honest the photos online, on Yelp don't really do it justice. It is definitely a venue you HAVE TO GO SEE. I happened to go in early Fall and the view was absolutely breathtaking driving in. Since Day 1, the staff have been so accommodating and friendly. Though everyone at La Venta Inn (or from the ones I've met) were extremely qualified, I took the advice of everyone here on Yelp and specifically asked for Tim. You are actually assigned to a coordinator, but you can request it and I stopped at nothing to get TIm. I called and emailed and I was had the privilege of working with him. It was an added bonus that his daughter's name was Mia too :)
Working with Tim was such a breeze. I am not going to lie, having two extremely organized people working together (Tim and myself) I think it was made the process so easy. He was prompt with his responses to my questions and always made sure to reassure me that everything would work out. When we had our 3-4 hour meetings, I would throw out so many ideas and he would have comments for every single one (without fail) which helped me make my decisions rather quickly.
The food choices are absolutely amazing. The chef there works with you to create your perfect menu.
I will leave this review with three things:
1) Choosing WHEN to have your wedding at this venue is important. Mine was the beginning of summer and because of the weird weather we have been having, I thought it was going to be hot, but it was moderate and a little windy...not what I expected. Still a breathtaking view though...For some reason the sky was clearer during the fall and winter months than summer..so something to think about.
2) Choosing the RIGHT coordinator for you. I had met with someone else and corresponded with her several times, but speaking to Tim on the phone twice and the reviews he received on YELP and Wedding Wire just did it for me. I never met him, but I just had to have him!
3) Size of Venue: This is definitely a venue for more intimate gatherings and I ended up having about 110 people attend and it was perfect. This venue accommodates more than that, but any more and I feel it would be a little cramped.
So, there you go future brides! Have your wedding at La Venta Inn, you won't regret it. -

Erin Sent on 07/27/2011The experience at La Venta Inn was excellent from pre-wedding planning, the service, the food, to of course, the view. We live in Florida and had to do everything by e-mail and phone, La Venta's coordinator Mike helped us a lot and made everything easier.
On the day of the wedding, they had everything set up and ready and there's literally no stress. The service at the reception was exceptional; like any couples, we were so busy with photo taking and things, but every time when we come back to our sweetheart table, our waiter would come and ask if we would like anything to drink.
I didn't think my wedding day can be so stress-free, but La Venta really made that happened.
and Of course, the view was fantastic!!! even now, my guests still tell me how much they enjoyed the view , the service, and the food at our wedding.
Yes, it can be a little pricey ( depends on the menu service you choose), but I think for the service you get, it is worth it.
I have a small wedding of 50 people, so it worked out great. The place is not huge, so if you have more than 100 people, it might get a little crowded. But they say they can fit up to 120 I think ( check on that.)
I would definitely recommend La Venta Inn for weddings. -

La Venta was our dream venue! The view is unbeatable! We knew we wanted to get married in PV and toured other venues, but La Venta was by far the best. It was the day of my dreams, but as with any venue, there are pros and cons. I want to help other couples make a totally informed decision with the full scope of knowledge you can only have after the fact!
Pros: Beautifully kept historical property with a stunning view of the LA coastline and perfectly manicured grounds (you get ocean AND garden photos!) An incredibly kind and helpful team (shoutout Savanna, she is a pro!) They are a well oiled machine and make sure your wedding day runs smoothly, while also making you feel special and valued leading up. You don't have to rent anything external (linens, glassware, etc.) unless you want to, which is so helpful. The food is incredible. They give you a recommended vendor list so you can do your own research - the only required vendors are their DJ company (Vox, loved them) and their in house caterer, Made By Meg. They help keep you on track with planning as well!
Cons: For an evening ceremony starting at 5pm, you can't arrive until 3:30. This leaves you very tight on time for pictures. If you don't plan down to the minute, you will be left with hardly any dancing/mingling time. There is a hard stop at 10pm and they keep the sound fairly low due to past neighborhood complaints. The in house catering company makes delicious food, but we did have a couple issues with them. They are very expensive (standard in LA) but were not upfront multiple times about their end of pricing. Almost every time I looked over a new proposal draft, there were additions/upcharges I hadn't approved. I had to comb through very carefully to make sure I wasn't overcharged. The minimum catering fee is very high (we got married on a Saturday night and fell short at 117 guests.) To be clear, this is not La Venta's fault, but since you are required to work with MBM, the experience goes hand in hand.
I truly wouldn't change our day for the world and am very grateful to the La Venta team, hence the 5 stars! But I would've loved the full low down before signing the contract, hope this helps future couples! -

Peter Sent on 01/25/2011La Venta Inn was an absolutely fantastic venue for our wedding on December 30th 2010. It was the second place we went to see for possible venue locations and once we saw the view and the beautiful grounds we made our decision.
I read many reviews where couples were saying that their guests had said their wedding at La Venta was the best they'd ever been to! Well, now my guests are saying that too.
The quality of service is excellent. Our co-ordinator changed mid-way through the planning so we did have to make any extra trip up there to go over a few things but it was not problem. The quality of food was absolutely spectacular. My guests were raving on the day to the point where i abandoned circulating and headed for the pasta bar - i then had one of the best pastas ive ever had in my life flambe'd by the chef right there in front of me. It was absolutely fantastic! we recommend the stations! our guests loved it. We had about 90 people and it was just the perfect size. You can squeeze in some more but not too many. I don't think i'd recommend for more than 130 people.
I guess what we loved best about La Venta is that it takes the sting out of much of the planning as they have the linens, chairs, catering and ceremony equipment on site - so it greatly limits the need for additional vendors.
They were also flexible with their pricing and included a few optional extras without charge.
These guys know what they're doing so give them a try! They aren't the cheapest but it's worth it! -

Nicole Sent on 08/04/2011I could not have asked for a more beautiful setting for my wedding. La Venta's beauty speaks for itself but the staff make it undeniably a premier wedding venue in Southern California.
Kelly was our coordinator and was professional, responsive and on top of every detail the entire 14 months we worked with her.
The food was incredible. I was worried b/c the tasting that they hold for clients is a group event for all couples and served buffet style. I didn't love the setting but a private tasting was $300. However, we had friends who had been to weddings before at La Venta and raved about the food. They were spot on. Everything from the hors d' ouvres to the dessrts (we had a buffet) was delicious!
The only drawback is the spacing, which for us at 125 guests wasn't an issue, but anything beyond 130/140 max would be pushing it. Also, we were disappointed to only be allowed to have our band play until 10pm. It is nothing La Venta can control, residential issue, but nonetheless still a drawback.
I would not change a thing about my wedding day and La Venta and its incredible staff was the primary reason.
