    La Brasa was great!

My husband and I got married on 9/25/2021 at La Brasa. We mainly worked with Katelyn leading up to and on the day of the wedding. Katelyn was super easy to work with! She provided us with really accurate drink estimates, arrived early on the day of the wedding to set out the table arrangements, and was always willing to have a phone call to discuss all of our questions. We're really happy we decided to go with La Brasa and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and nice venue!

Thank you La Brasa for a Perfect Day!

We held our wedding at La Brasa in October, and the entire experience -- from the initial contact, on-site visits, menu selection, coordination with other vendors, and execution on the day-of -- was nothing short of perfect! Katelyn, the events manager, was so easy to work with, and very responsive to our (sometimes long) emails and calls. During the whole planning process, Katelyn really made sure they were realizing our dream wedding. Everything ran so smoothly on our wedding day, so my wife and I could truly sit back and enjoy without worrying about logistics. In addition, we received so many compliments from our guests about the delicious food, fantastic cocktails, and beautiful space. We are so grateful to the entire staff for making our day so special, and highly recommend other foodie couples consider La Brasa!

    The perfect day

I've been to La brasa before and I have always loved their food, so when we started looking for venues I brought my wife to try it out, that night we meet Katelyn the GM and we felt in love with the venue, the communication after that was flawless, all our questions were answer, we did a tasting menu 4 weeks before the wedding, and we had a couple of changes that they implemented for the wedding, they even did delicious custom cocktails for us, and got some specific liquors that we asked for.

All the vendors that we hired connected with Katelyn independently and had great experiences.

We did cocktail hour, ceremony, dinner and dancing, we had 55 guest and everyone complemented the food and the drinks, if you are looking for a stress free night, this is the place you are looking for.

Venue & food good, service & professionalism not so much

Had our wedding at La Brasa late Aug. 2022 with ~80 guests, a small/quick ceremony, no assigned seating, stationary and passed food. We paid for an extra hour of dancing (worth it). Mixed feelings about the planning and day-of.

PROs: Location/overall venue were great. Decor was perfect for what we wanted, we added signs and centerpieces. Food overall was good (corn, brussels, empanadas, churros), with the exception of a couple of dishes. Appreciated the flexibility with the menu items b/c we didn’t want the traditional sit-down, 3-course meal. The two female bartenders were amazing: accommodating & friendly.

CONs: Communication overall with the event manager (Katelyn) could have been much better. For my husband and I, communication and transparency are huge.
#1 con was that we were not told ahead of time or day-of that Katelyn was leaving early. I didn’t find out until I was looking for her around 8:30pm that she went home for the night. Our event went until 12:30am. It's fine if something came up, but a heads up from her and an intro to who would be covering for her would have been the professional thing to do.
#2 We weren't asked about bottled still and sparkling water. Blue bottles of water were put out as guests arrived. Would have appreciated the staff ask my husband or I before 65 bottles came out after maybe 1 guest agreed to still. Felt sneaky and a wholesale decision was made ($450 fyi) when it could have been pitchers or reusable glass bottles I've seen them use to serve tap water.
#3 You'll be charged per head for the tasting. We thought it was included and later saw $141/person in our invoice. Just fyi.
#4 The steak skewers we agreed to were almost non-existent, a lot of chicken skewers came out instead. The sweet chili glaze on the fried chicken that we agreed to at the tasting was subbed with a sweetened soy sauce the day-of. The amazing key lime custard we had at the tasting hadn’t set the day-of and guests commented on how soupy it was.
#5 Multiple comments from guests: staff weren’t friendly. I thought it was just me when I arrived with our families to set up, but was too distracted to read into it. Staff didn’t say hi, looked like they didn't want to be there, didn’t care that we were there. It was a stark difference from on-site visits and everyone was friendly. Maybe that changes after you’ve paid 95% of the invoice before the event?

Finally, this is feedback about the planning process with Katelyn: I understand that La Brasa hosts a lot weddings and events. Couples can ask annoying questions. Try to appreciate that they don’t plan to have other weddings and will be paying you tens of thousands of dollars. Try not to sound condescending and minimize their questions/concerns because you do this for a living and might feel like they’re silly. E.g I asked about stationary food (where it'd be, should I make signs, how will people know) and your response was “if there is food, people will figure out how to find it” which wasn’t helpful at all. Turns out my guests didn’t know there was a whole table of great food in the dark corner next to the DJ table on the other side of the restaurant, when we agreed it would be across the bar right next to the dining tables so it’d be obvious to guests.

For couples considering this restaurant: 100% recommend the layout/vibe, bartenders, and food for the most part. Take the cons above as things to look out for and hopefully the staff takes it as constructive feedback to improve on.

    La Brasa's reply:

    Hi Joanne,
Thank you for your feedback. I always appreciate constructive input, and many of these points have never been brought to my attention before. This being said, I'd like to give you some responses of my own.
    1) Staff Friendliness: We agreed ahead of time that you would arrive an hour early with a few family members to take photographs in our lounge area. In actuality you arrived with roughly 20 people and completely took over the space, making it very difficult for the staff to complete the set up. I would also like to mention that though I understand people get sick at weddings, more than a handful of your guests vomited both on the inside and the outside of the restaurant. Our staff members cleaned this all up with no complaints. 2) Bottles of Water: For a group of 80 people, we simply do not have enough water bottles to put still water out on tables all at once. Therefore we need to supplement with the blue sparkling water. Though I do understand you would have liked to be notified, we would have taken charges off the bill had the bottles been unopened.3) Food: In terms of the skewers, the reason why you saw so many chicken skewers is because your guests ate the steak at a much more rapid pace than the chicken.4) My (Katelyn's) Performance: You and Juhx are very detail oriented, which is oftentimes very helpful! Though I do apologize that you felt I wasn't a good fit for your planning process, I was in constant contact with you throughout the process. We had a conversation 68 messages long to be precise. In terms of our conversation regarding the service style, I remember very clearly that at the conclusion of that meeting I apologized for any misunderstanding on my part. I was simply confused as to why you had so many questions regarding the subject.
Though I wish you would have spoken to me personally regarding some of your points, I do understand this may not be comfortable for some people. Congratulations on your marriage, and I wish you and Juhx well! -Katelyn
