We wanted to get married in New Orleans so we could have a true second line experience. We hired Kinfolk Brass Band and we were so so so happy with our experience! We've seen other second line bands before and they were all great but, I must say, Kinfolk was the best band I've ever seen. They made our second line so fun and memorable. It was so memorable that strangers we walked past the next day remembered us from the second line! I can't tell you how many times I heard from my guests that the second line was one of the coolest things they had ever done. Every single member of the band was so jovial and exuberant. If you plan on having a second line, hire Kinfolk! -

I am the Director of Sales at a hotel in the French Quarter and have had this band at several Second Lines. They are BY FAR the most fun and professional second line/brass band you can hire. They were not on time but 30 min BEFORE time to ensure an expected departure time for the party. You MUST include the Grand Marshal for your second line!! Him and his whistle.... just add that extra touch to make your event spectacular!! HIRE THIS BAND!!! They are the best!!! -

We are from Iowa and fell in love with New Orleans on previous visits so we decided on a destination wedding in the Big Easy! A second line parade was an absolute must and after reading reviews we knew that Kinfolk was the best choice. There’s a reason they have such great reviews. They were absolutely perfect and so much fun! Our guests are still talking about how amazing our wedding was and how the second line was one of the best experiences of their lives! Best money I spent. Hands down! Amanda the coordinator is also amazing to work with! I highly recommend! -

We also included a grand marshal (which I recommend) and a mardi gras indian. We chose to take our second line down Bourbon Street on St. Patrick's Day, which was even more fun. Since our wedding day, we've seen videos of the second line on social media that people on the street took from their iphones. It was really an epic second line! You can't go wrong if you hire these guys! -

If you want to have a brass band at your wedding, hire Kinfolk. After our ceremony, Kinfolk led the guests throughout New Orleans’ beautiful City Park, dancing as they played and getting guests so excited. Kinfolk had so much energy and played the best music. They also played during the cocktail hour and they played our first dance, which is something we’ll never forget. They were professional, energetic and wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. As a Brooklyn, New York-based LGBT couple, we needed vendors who were organized and responsive and also accepting and Kinfolk delivered. They are the best and we highly recommend them.

We worked with Kinfolk Brass Band for our November 2023 wedding and we had the BEST experience. We opted for the full service package, including all permits and routing for our secondline parade, AND we had the BEST GRAND MARSHAL IN NEW ORLEANS -- Mr. Oliver "Squirt Man" Hunter! Rest in peace, you remarkable man!!
The company has a whole was easy to work with, the band was on-time and ready to go, they were so fun and sweet even in all the chaos, and they kept our guests going as we paraded through the French Quarter on a very busy Saturday! They even let our friend, a professional trumper player herself, to join them along the route! We highly recommend Kinfolk for their talents, reliability, professionalism, and above all A WILD GOOD TIME!!

Kinfolk was just FANTASTIC!! We got married in the St. Louis Cathedral, and as we were taking our pictures, we could hear the band outside waiting for us. When we stepped out of the Cathedral, we were absolutely blown away and had a blast parading through the French Quarter to our reception. Kinfolk did an absolute amazing job and made such a wonderful memory for us. This was the highlight of the night for all of our out-of-town guests.....even all of our friends and family who were born and raised in NOLA were so impressed by this band and could not stop talking about the second line. What a great experience! At the end of the parade, the guests gathered outside of our reception venue as the band played, "Hey Baby," and it was just perfect. I loved getting our pictures back and seeing all of the dancing and smiles from the second line. Thank you for making such a special memory for all of us! -

Having Kinfolk for our Second Line was honestly the highlight of our wedding day! Having a Second Line is the reason we chose to get married in New Orleans and we are so happy our venue recommended them. We ended our ceremony with Kinfolk and it really kicked off our reception - they definitely got the party started! The band was on time, up beat, and played a great mix of music including some top hits and a requested song from us (pre-paid ahead of time). They were easy to work with when we had to reschedule from COVID and quick to answer my emails as we are from out of state. Also highly recommend doing the entire parade package, we didn't have to stress about anything and could just live in the moment! If you are getting married in New Orleans you have to book Kinfolk for your Second Line, they are hands down one of the best bands! -

Wow Kinfolk brass band absolutely knocked its out of the park for our wedding second line and cocktail hour. Our guests are still talking about how amazing they were several months later. Our wedding planner, Three Little Words, organized everything for us and it was perfect. Kinfolk Brass Band know how to kick the party up a notch and handled the logistics of the Cabildo third floor & staircase back down with ease. We did our second line around the Quarter and it was incredible ... everyone still is talking about it! Thank you Kinfolk!

Hiring Kinfolk is a MUST for your wedding. My guests and ourselves were blown away by their talent. We hired their brass band for our second line parade and also a 4-piece jazz band for our reception. We were told by our guests that our wedding was one of the most unique weddings they had been to, because of the second line parade and live jazz music.
I worked with Sarah at Kinfolk and she did a fantastic job with answering all the questions I had.
The 4-piece jazz band performed our first dance song and it was incredible. We will never forgot this amazing day, and Kinfolk played one of the largest parts in it. It was worth every penny. Thank you so much! -

I'm so appreciative of everything Kinfolk Brass Band did for my groom and I words can't express how thankful I am. Our favorite part of the wedding was by far the second line. When we paraded down Magazine Street with all of our family and friends, we felt incredibly special. Everyone thought the band was amazing and enjoyed every minute of it. If you're looking to do a second line for your wedding, I would highly recommend Kinfolk Brass Band! -

Kinfolk performed the second line at our small New Orleans wedding. They were super fun, lively, and easy to work with. They organized the route and the all the permits and the police escorts. Everything went super smoothly. Would definitely recommend including a Grand Marshal. He brought so much energy! -

Planning: We worked with Sarah to schedule our second line. She took care of the parade route planning, permit, police escorts. She was extremely responsive and so kind! ///////// Experience: For all of our guests, it was their first time being in a second line - and I’m SO HAPPY Kinfolk was the band to introduce them to that. They were incredible - sounded flawless, chose their songs excellently (good blend between NOLA music and pop songs), and had such a fun, up-beat energy. We even got to snap a photo with the band before they left! Days after the wedding, we keep hearing from our guests how fun the second line experience was. They were well-polished and professional, while still being fun!

We hired Kinfolk for our destination wedding in April. I'm so glad we did!! We had them lead guests out of our reception to end the night on a great note. The group was very professional and outgoing. Most of our guests were not from the area so they were all surprised at what was happening and had a blast parading through the streets. Sarah was very responsive and accommodating as well during the booking process. They handled the permitting, security and everything. Highly recommend Kinfolk! -

Kinfolk was the true NOLA experience for our wedding! Due to Covid restrictions, we had to be on private property and it was raining yet they still made it absolutely perfect! After a few rounds around the property, we went into the hotel lobby to finish up the party- we chose to have the second line right after ceremony to lead into reception. It was so much fun people thought it was already the reception. The communication was wonderful throughout the entire process of planning a destination wedding and couldn't be more grateful for such a fun crew! Thank you so much Kinfolk for giving us an experience we will forever remember + cherish!! -

Heather Sent on 03/27/2018Kinfolk is hands down THE BEST of all brass bands in New Orleans. They are incredibly talented, sound amazing and very professional. If you want an experience your guests will never forget and have your pictures look amazing (some brass bands show up in some not-so-great attire), then book Kinfolk! One service that Frenchman Street Productions (who books out KBB) offers is the setting up of your second line permits, etc. I don't recommend that service only because it's so expensive for something that isn't that time consuming to do yourself (plus there are several websites that walk you through what to do). Highly recommend Kinfolk!!

The band is awesome, they are skilled and experienced and know exactly what to do to make your wedding unique and special for your guests. We hired a Grand Marshall to help ramp up the energy of our guests after our ceremony. He was very energetic and did lots of tricks & dancing. It was great to include since we had so many out of town guests who had never experienced a second line before. It was a perfect second line - our guests couldn't stop talking about it for weeks after our wedding, one of our guests even said it was one of the top 5 moments of her life! Thank you Kinfolk!! -

Unfortunately we were not able to have our Second Line as planned due to another vendors mistake. I can comment on the responsiveness of Kinfolk and the musicians professionalism when dealing with an unexpected situation. Kinfolk was very quick to respond throughout booking and solidifying details. The responsiveness did decline after the wedding when we needed more information for the insurance company. The musicians were very sweet and attempted to stage a second line for our photographer, they were very prompt being on time and wrapping up at the scheduled time. Luckily we were able to get some staged pictures! We were really looking forward to this part of our day but unfortunately couldn’t experience it which is no fault of the vendor. -
Rohit Sent on 12/28/2017We had kinfolk brass band perform twice for our wedding on December 10, 2017 in New Orleans. They did a spectacular second line along with our Indian Baraat procession down the streets of New Orleans in the morning. In the evening we opened up the reception with Kinfolk who played the family and bride and groom into the hall, followed up by playing "What a Wonderful World" as the couple's first dance.
Overall, most of our guests look back at our wedding and remember kinfolk as a highlight. Being out of town (most of our guests are from the northeast) we knew this was going to be the first time they ever saw a nola style brass band. We wanted to make sure we gave them a loud, entertaining, and upbeat experience and Kinfolk absolutely delivered. The band played to our crowd with a couple indian songs and they let me jam on the trombone with them which was a huge crowd pleaser! In the evening our gusts noted how unique of a reception we threw thanks in part to the surprising start with Kinfolk. And what couple wouldn't want to be dance live to a brass band ballad :)
Overall we are very happy with our decision to have Kinfolk headline our wedding and would recommend them to others. The only places I hope they get better are in pre-wedding planning. We had some issues with getting in touch with the band and didn't end up finalizing the contract until a week beforehand (after starting discussions 4 months prior). We also had some price changes that weren't expected and had to negotiate later than we may have liked. Given that we were out of town this was a bit nerveracking but I assume locals would be able to meet the band leaders in person and finish everything much quicker which is common in New Orleans.
In terms of value we definitely got what we paid for which was an elite, exciting, professional band that played to the crowd and did it all. They were one of our more expensive line items and I believe other second lines go for cheaper in NOLA -
