From the very first conversation, Kelly had the kind of energy that made me think, “I weirdly want to be friends with her”—and that’s saying something, because after 40, I’m not exactly in the market for new friends. I would literally turn to my fiancé during planning and say, “Kelly would have laughed at that joke,” because she just got us. Her vibes were amazing—warm, grounding, and genuinely comforting in a season that can feel overwhelming.
What truly set her apart was how deeply she understood and respected our family dynamics. We could say things like, “Can you kind of avoid this?” or “If this part gets weird, can you adjust?” and there was never judgment or awkwardness. She accepted us exactly as we are and handled everything with intuition, grace, and total professionalism. It felt like having someone in our corner who genuinely cared about our comfort.
And then there are the photos. I don’t even have the words. Kelly somehow found a way to make us both look incredibly photogenic while actually living in the moment. I had spent so much time imagining how my face would look that day, wondering if I’d need to be posing or thinking about the camera — and instead, I completely forgot she was there. She has this rare gift of being invisible while also being present for all the right moments. Especially with our parents. They aren’t getting any younger, and we are so incredibly fortunate to have them, and she captured moments we didn’t even realize were happening — moments we will cherish for the rest of our lives. When we saw the final gallery, we both teared up. The photos are beyond incredible — emotional, timeless, and priceless. Hiring Kelly was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we will be grateful forever. -

Amazing photographer!
Kelly Loss was the absolute best to work with for our wedding photography!! She was a constant source of light throughout the whole planning process and our photos came out stunning! She is extremely organized and really helped us nail down the timeline of the day with planning meetings along the way, and was constantly reminding us to have fun and not get overwhelmed with the little things. Without her we would not have had such an amazing day and amazing photos to remember it by. Cannot recommend her enough! -

Kelly was perfect for us!

Hiring Kelly was absolutely one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding and we can’t recommend her highly enough. She spent so much time getting to know us before the wedding, and our photos very clearly reflect her attention to capturing what was important to us. We really wanted to see the joy and breadth of emotions of the day and wanted photos that reflected our wedding as vibrant and loving, and that shines through in every photo!! Kelly is also so personable and brings such a wonderful energy to all parts of the process which made us feel so comfortable and so happy to have her with us!
In addition to creating a photography schedule that was invaluable and that we shaped the rest of the schedule around, she made sure to note people’s accessibility needs and to work with us closely on comfort for everyone as we had a lot of access needs. She answered every question we had happily and was just such a wonderful part of our day!! She also did our engagement photos at Great Falls and they turned out just so gorgeous.
I had a lot of anxiety about how I would feel about the photos as a plus size bride and Kelly listened to my concerns and made me so comfortable and I’m so so thrilled with the photos and feel gorgeous in all of them, which I’m very grateful for. -

Kelly did our engagement photos and photographed our wedding this past winter. We loved working with her: she makes you feel comfortable every step of the way so you get beautiful, natural, photos of your wedding; she is organized and experienced and offers great feedback through the planning process; she is super fun and kind and a joy to be around! My husband and I were both worried about feeling awkward taking our engagement photos and wedding portraits, but Kelly helped us loosen up, snuggle up, and be ourselves, which made our pics turn out great. Because she is so easy going and fun to be around, everyone in our bridal party felt comfortable taking “getting ready” pics, and our guests felt comfortable just being themselves and having a good time. We are so happy we chose to work with Kelly, and you will be too! -

We were beyond pleased with both our photos from Kelly as well as our experience working with her. We have received so many compliments on our photos from family and friends! Kelly was personable, flexible, and completely lacked fuss, as per her tag line! I was very nervous for wedding photos because I do not find myself to be very photogenic and am self conscious in general. Kelly made the whole experience painless! I also did not want to be stuck on my wedding day spending a ton of time taking photos! Kelly was able to get our photos done in 20 minutes flat so we could enjoy our day. She was willing to work with us so we could have both the photos and wedding day of our dreams. I have always loved my parents wedding photos which were shot in a very photojournalistic style. I expressed this to Kelly and what she captured the day of our wedding completely fit my vision. Kelly was our absolute favorite vendor that we worked with!!!! Kelly was a recommended photographer from our venue at Woodend Sanctuary, and of everyone on their list, she immediately stood out to us and we knew she was the one. Her website says her ethos perfectly, as she is definitely an empath and put us at ease as soon as we met her with her warm, bubbly personality. Neither of us felt comfortable in front of a camera, but she made things feel easy and natural in both portraits and during the reception. We didn't want to spend hours away from our guests doing artsy photos - we wanted to celebrate with them, and she understood this perfectly. We were blown away by how wonderfully her documentary style made us feel like we're transported right back to that day whenever we look at them. There were also wonderful personal touches she added along the way, such as handwritten notes and goodies in the mail, that made our experience with her feel like an amazing journey. We'd also be remiss not to add the expertise and thoughtfulness she brought to figuring out the itinerary for the day, as we were completely in the dark with event organization, but she took the time to know us as a couple and help us with those choices as they came up. We have nothing but fantastic things to say about Kelly and have already recommended her to friends starting their own wedding journey! -

She is passionate about her work and took the time to get to know me and my husband. She asked all the right questions, gave great recommendations for our timeline, and was super accurate on timing. From our few conversations before the wedding day, she made me super comfortable and confident that she would do a fantastic job, and she did. Unsurprisingly, she was super organized on the wedding day and efficiently used her time. She took every portrait combo I asked for and captured the night's fun, exactly what I wanted. I did not use a videographer for my wedding, and I don't regret that decision because the photos were so amazing! She is also a pleasure to be around, which is a huge bonus! -

Kelly, and her assistant Rebecca, were absolutely amazing in all respects. They're are the kind of people you'll want at your wedding anyway! Kelly was super organized and guided us through everything we needed to know ahead of time--planning the portrait order, location for the portraits, logistics to help us get the most out of the photography, etc. She was everything we needed in a photographer. She was just type-A enough when we needed her to be, to herd all the cats for portraits and to keep us on time through the first look. The rest of the day, she blended right into the background and captured all of the most beautiful candid photographs. She perfectly caught everyone's emotions. We spent so much time going through the photos later, re-living that day through our guests' faces. We hired her because she is such a great, fun, and empathetic person, and in tune with the people in the room--and her work reflects that. We could not be happier with her or the gorgeous pictures she took of our wedding day. -

Best Choice ever!
Kelly Loss was simply one of the best choices we made in selecting our wedding vendors — outside of being a fantastic photographer, her attention to getting to know you and what will make your day special is second to none. I will be honest that my now husband didn’t even want a photographer at all! — but once we met Kelly and saw the passion she would bring to capturing the history of our day, we were all in. This might sound crazy, but she ended up feeling like she was one of the family on our special day, like she just belonged! The photos she took, from portraits with the dogs, to planning the details of shots around Alexandria, to capturing the best party of our lives were all perfect. Kelly is also committed to an endless amount of personal touches, including visiting her home studio for consultation and photo gallery review, along with a month prior shot list review — basically she managed EVERYTHING but made sure our opinions were front and forward. The gallery of images was gorgeous, and how she set everything up was easy to navigate. I would recommend Kelly 100 times over for being not only excellent at her craft, but also a fantastic human being that will make your day as special as it is! -

We were referred to Kelly by two couples who used her for their engagement and weddings previously. We never could have known how lucky we were to be paired with such an incredible photographer.
My partner and I are not very good at being the center of attention, and from the moment we first met with Kelly, her energy completely put us at ease. She took the time to learn about us, figure out the type of pictures we wanted, and she executed perfectly.
Our engagement and wedding pictures came out looking better than we could have ever imagined. Kelly was incredibly responsive, professional, and brought such amazing energy to the entire experience.
She was communicative throughout every step and on the night of the big event she blended in and captured such amazing shots of our big event.

I can't say enough about how much we loved working with Kelly throughout the entire process of wedding planning. My husband and I had never taken any professional photos before, and it was really important to us that we worked with someone that made us feel comfortable but also would give direction when we needed it. From the first moment we met Kelly, we felt like we had known her for years. She listened so carefully to all of the details of our relationship to get to us as a couple, including how we met and the things we value most. Kelly is very transparency with how she works best with couples, which immediately made us feel sure that we had made the right choice based on who we are and how we wanted our wedding captured. And the photos. Are. Incredible. Kelly is fun, welcoming and accommodating with a fantastic eye for those beautiful, candid moments that really capture the happiness and emotion of the day. Those moments were really important to us, and Kelly delivered beyond our wildest dreams for our photos. We did not hire a videographer, which was something I was nervous I'd regret as the music was such an important part of our reception, and the way Kelly captured the dance floor is unbelievable. The photos have so much life and energy, they're stunning. Beyond her expertise as a photographer, Kelly also has experience as a former wedding and event planner, which made planning of timing and position of portraits and other photo-op moments so simple and helped take so many questions we didn't even know to ask off our plates. I could not recommend Kelly more, especially for brides/grooms/couples that are looking to partner with their vendors and feel comfortable asking for their expertise, suggestions and opinions. Kelly is someone my husband and I will keep in touch with for years to come, and I would hire her again on the spot for professional photos in the future. From those candid photos that are so good they look like they must have been staged to be captured so well, to the beautiful portraits of my husband and I and our families, Kelly truly provided us with the most amazing photos to remember our wedding. The absolute BEST of the BEST!
Kelly is an absolute angel. She was the photographer for our August 2021 wedding in Virginia. At our first meet and greet (virtually due to COVID), my husband and I knew Kelly was the one for us. She took the time to get to know us first and really cared about our vision for our wedding day. I loved how easy it was to talk to her and how quickly she understood our goals. Kelly’s photography style meshed very well with what we were looking for. She gave our wedding a photography theme that still lives on, LOL! We had a rather large wedding party – (23 lovely folks) and Kelly was an absolute ALLSTAR. We have received so many compliments on our photos and this is due to Kelly’s amazing work. Kelly is a photographer who really cares about getting to know you as a client and as a couple. She took so much time to get to know us as a couple before the day and asked the perfect questions to find out exactly what we wanted to documented on our wedding day. She has a candid, emotional documentary style to her photography and catches the most meaningful moments without prompting or staging, which made the photos so much more beautiful and special. Looking at them after the fact made us feel like we were reliving the day moment-to-moment, and she caught so much magic that we didn’t even see in the rush of the event! The few posed photos she organised were efficient and quickly orchestrated so that we could swiftly get back to the action. She returned an extraordinary amount of digital photos - each in both black and white and color versions - and created a beautiful slideshow with her favorites. On top of the excellent quality to her work, she is a joy to work with and truly feels like she is as emotionally invested in the day as you are. Kelly is amazing! From our first meeting, we knew Kelly understood us. We are not generally comfortable being the center of attention but Kelly put us at such ease during our planning meetings, our engagement photo session and on our wedding day. Kelly is amazing at helping your get out of your head and just be you with your partner - her ability to do this is why I love so many of our pictures. They aren't just posed portraits, they are us interacting and being ourselves. She also captures all the little moments that happened at our reception. Where do I begin! Kelly did an absolutely amazing job on our wedding photos! We really wanted photos that encapsulate genuine moments of joy, love and fun and she NAILED IT! We hired Kelly for our church ceremony and garden reception, and she not only took beautiful photos in both locations, but made us feel supported, comfortable, and taken care of end-to-end of the process :)
Once we booked with her, we got access to her creativity in terms of timing for the day, brainstorming helpful ideas, and thoroughly going through all the wishes we had for wedding photos. This became a fun part of the process, not just another wedding chore! That time together helped our day run smoothly, and receiving the photos a few weeks later one of the most fun days.
Quote from my fam: "How did the family photos go so quickly?? Your photographer had it so planned out and that was so painless!" (They just wanted to get to cocktail hour, but they are right, it was extremely organized and efficient!)
I loved Kelly's approach to staying out of the way, capturing what was happening without MAKING it happen. I really wanted to be present on my wedding day, and not doing things FOR the camera - didn't want to hold a dancing pose or move my hand a certain way for the camera - I wanted to live in the moment! And that's what she promised and delivered. We ended up with wedding day photos that show how we felt, not how we looked for the camera. And I couldn't be happier about that.

We are very excited to offer our highest recommendation for Kelly Loss. Upon meeting Kelly for the first time at a local coffee shop, we knew right away we had found our wedding photographer. Kelly is extremely well-organized, has years of valuable insights to offer, and is also a truly wonderful and fun person. She worked closely with us to schedule our family photographs and was always happy to answer any questions we had. Kelly also took a beautiful series of engagement photos in Old Town Alexandria which we used for our Save the Dates, postponement announcement, and wedding website.
After we postponed and downsized our wedding due to COVID, Kelly was right there with us, coming over to our house to game out the ceremony over a glass of wine. She is very collaborative, incorporating feedback and building out a concrete pre-wedding strategy. On our wedding day, Kelly was a delight, spending most of the morning with us as we prepared with our families. At the ceremony, Kelly provided clear guidance for family portraits. She was also omnipresent at the wedding, taking lots of great photos of little moments. Kelly is the ultimate professional and artist -- and we are so happy we hired her for our wedding day! -

Photos that look and feel like YOU as a couple!
We found Kelly after chatting with a few other photographers and always ending our conversations feeling very "meh, they'd be fine?" From that first meeting, Kelly's priority was getting to know us as a couple and letting us learn more about her as a person... less as a photographer. Her targeted questions and creative ways of then translating that to photography is what makes her unique. From our engagement session (rescheduled due to covid...) to our wedding (changed/postponed/rescheduled due to covid...) all of the photos she delivered made us look and fee like US. If you've ever been in a wedding or staged for professional photos when the photographer's main goal is to make you look like a magazine shoot, you'll know the difference. Nothing wrong with either style, but Kelly will definitely capture you and your partner and family and friends naturally. Lastly, cost and logistics were never an issue with Kelly. She was upfront from day 1 (and then through the multiple reschedulings and changes) about what things would cost and what we would get in return. We found her costs perfect for us after talking to other photogs way more expensive and some way cheaper. She struck a great balance. And we're so excited to keep her on board for our eventual larger reception once covid passes! -

From our first photo planning session to the delivery of photos, Kelly took such great care to make our pictures and our experience absolutely perfect. Kelly's artistic approach fit our needs perfectly! My fiancé and I really wanted a documentary-style photographer who would be able to capture the genuine emotion and love on the wedding day, rather than a photographer who would pull us from the party for hours of posed portraits! Kelly is an incredible photographer and the nicest person. She was the first and only photographer we met with- we knew right away that she had the personality that would fit with us as a couple and the photographic style that we envisioned for our day. Kelly is extremely organized and made a point to check in with us several times before the wedding. She was so easy to work with, especially through many stressful wedding plan changes caused by the pandemic. We ended up having a small immediate family-only ceremony and will be working with Kelly again next year for our reception. Kelly is truly an angel and we would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a photographer! She is incredibly compassionate, kind, and dedicated to her work. She spent so much time getting to know us to make sure our photos turned out exactly as we envisioned. She was also so accomodating. We had to postpone the wedding due to COVID, and Kelly offered to photograph our civil wedding ceremony at no additional cost until we are able to have the full wedding next year. On the day, it never felt like the photos were being staged, Kelly was able to seamlessly capture the most intimate moments while we enjoyed our special day with family. Looking at the photos later brought us right back to the moment. The cherry on top of the fact that she is an incredible person to work with is that she is truly an artist, and takes gorgeous photos (which you can see for yourself)! Of all the choices we had to make about our wedding, we were most thrilled with our experience with Kelly. From the moment we met her, we knew she would be the right fit for us. She is kind, professional, warm, and caring. She focuses on the moments in between, and that's exactly the vision we had for our photographer. We didn't want many staged photos, and Kelly made sure to have those done in just 5 minutes, focusing the rest of the time on the moments that happened organically during the wedding.
Kelly made everything so easy. Because she's a former wedding planner, she helped us design the order of events, and helped to make sure everyone was on the same page! She especially took control of unexpected situations. When our outdoor ceremony was rained (and hailed!) out by a freak storm only 30 minutes before starting, Kelly helped with reorganizing everything to be pushed inside as we waited an hour for the ceremony to start. Best of all, because everything was pushed back an hour, Kelly stayed an additional hour after she was contracted to make sure she was able to catch all the fun dancing moments!
Our photos from the wedding are absolutely perfect. For every unplanned, fun, memorable moment, Kelly or her second shooter was there with her camera ready! She seemed to know when something great was about to happen, and made sure to capture it for us for eternity. Months later, our family and friends still talk about the beautiful, creative shots captured by Kelly, and talk about the incredible ways she went above and beyond on our wedding day.
We highly recommend Kelly's services - she was absolutely the best decision of our wedding planning! We hope we can use her again in the future for any and all moments we need captured. Thank you for everything, Kelly! -

For me, choosing the right photographer was the most important vendor decision we made for our wedding. The best thing we did for our wedding day was have Kelly and her partner, Rebecca, there to capture every moment. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars! Kelly is amazingly talented, and such a lovely, warm person all around. I highly recommend going with a documentary-style photographer for your wedding day - of course, she will make sure to get all the posed shots of family and bridal party you request. But it takes an exceptional eye to be able to capture on film all of those small - yet monumental - moments throughout your wedding day that will make those memories so extraordinary to look back on. Kelly is AMAZING. I felt overwhelmed picking a photographer - it's hard to know what they'll be like in real life vs. sample pictures they have on their websites. But I fell in love with Kelly after reading the first 2 sentences on her website - it embodied the exact feeling my husband and I wanted for our wedding. Do things because we wanted, not because we felt we had to for tradition.
Kelly lived up to all expectations. She was professional and prompt in her responses, asked all the right questions around what was important to us and what feel we wanted for our wedding and has showered us with attention (and continues to do so!) I wasn't looking for someone to do a lot of staged pictures, but rather someone who would capture all the moments in between and Kelly did just that. I am obsessed with our wedding pictures and couldn't be happier. Definitely, definitely recommend! -

Kelly is nothing short of perfection. We knew when we began communicating with her that she was special just because of her warmth, fantastic communication, kindness, and enthusiasm. She literally made our wedding better - her ideas, knowledge, experience, and willingness to go above and beyond are extraordinary.
And I haven’t even gotten to the pictures yet - they were gorgeous. Her documentary style is exactly what we wanted and she captured everything without being intrusive in any way. She got the big moments but also so many little candid shots of us and our guests - precious little interactions.
After the ceremony she knew where to take us in Old Town for a one-on-one photo session and her sense of composition, color, and framing made the pictures rise above ordinary portraiture.
The before and after was also so easy with Kelly. She is flexible and personal and helped us plan everything out and then put together the perfect package for us with the end product. I highly recommend her photo album option - we will treasure ours forever.
I could literally give a dozen examples of how she went above and beyond throughout this process but I’ll pick one for space. Kelly’s done huge weddings but ours was a tiny elopement-style walk-on at a park with 10 guests. When we got to the park she immediately zoned in on the perfect spot for the ceremony and then graciously cleared the space for us. This not only took stress and logistics off our plate, it guaranteed the best pictures!
I could keep raving but suffice it to say Kelly is the best wedding decision we could have made. She didn’t just give us gorgeous pictures, she made the whole process and the day demonstrably better.
I recommend her without reservation. -

I cannot begin to express just how extraordinary Kelly is as a photographer. My husband and I couldn't be happier with the vendors we chose for our wedding, but without a doubt, Kelly Loss was the highlight!
From the moment we met up with her in a coffee shop and were introduced to her fun and spirited personality as well as her meticulous organizational skills, we knew she was the photographer for us. That "click" moment (no pun intended :-)) was key. Not only did we feel like we knew her, but throughout the months leading up to our wedding, she really took the time to get to know us as a couple AND what we envisioned for our day, photography-wise. The last thing I wanted was a photographer who felt pretentious, or just made us feel stressed, especially on an already stressful (but wonderful!!!) day. Kelly embodies the exact opposite of all of that. We knew we could email her with any questions and that she would be receptive. She's just a fun, light-hearted, but wildly focused and organized gal who addressed every single photography need of ours.
Weeks before our wedding we received a structured timeline of the wedding day. SHE put that together. From the pre-ceremony bridal pictures, to the post-ceremony ones, to all of the ones in between, we knew (and more importantly, Kelly knew) the times during which we'd meet and WHO was to meet. I can't tell you how much my type-A personality loved that. That in itself relieved such an incredible amount of stress on our wedding day, that then allowed us to hand over the reins to her so we could just celebrate with our loved ones and not have to worry about timing. Kelly took care of all of that. Both of our type-A personalities needed that structure, just for different reasons. :-) The day of the wedding, she was an absolute DREAM. She and her partner captured such candid photos of moments that we had no idea happened. We have photos of just about every person in attendance that day - some candid, some formal, but all fantastic. I can never thank her enough for that. So many of my friends and family commented, too, on just how dedicated Kelly was. Every so often, I'd catch her squatting down during the reception to capture just the right angles. Talk about dedication, especially in the heat of July!! She was everywhere and anywhere, even when we didn't see her.
Then, the photos... wow, wow, wow. While I knew without question that we chose the right photographer, admittedly, I was nervous to see the photos because I wanted them to turn out well. They're the tangible and visual artifact of that day. And now, I have no idea why I was anxious for even one second. They are stunning. Every time I look at them, I find more favorites. The photos are clean, simple, graceful, and just timeless. And also fun! There isn't one that we don't like. From the lighting, to the angling, to selecting just the right spot, she was Kelly was spot on. The day was everything that we'd hoped and more, but it absolutely flew by; Kelly has allowed us to relive moments that we never wanted to end, and also experience ones that we didn't even know happened.
We cannot celebrate and recommend Kelly Loss enough!!! Future events, we'll choose her. And now, months later, we're still hoping for a double date dinner night to catch up! That's awesome she is. :-) -

Kelly took the time to learn about my wife and I to understand exactly what we wanted for our wedding. She assisted with the planning process of not just the pictures but wherever we needed her. She was very easy to work with and even was able to get our families to sit still long enough to get our group pictures done so we could finally celebrate. We had issues with our DJ, Kelly tried to help with it and took some stress off of my wife on the actual day of the wedding. In the end the biggest part is the pictures and her work speaks for itself. Would I use her again (not that I am think I will need anther wedding photographer), yes, and I recommend if you want your pictures done exactly the way you want and returned in a timely manner you use Kelly. Kelly if you are reading this thank you, you helped make our wedding very special and now we have those moments you captured for us to look back on forever. We can’t say enough great things about Kelly - Matthew and I had the most wonderful experience start to finish and are so happy we found her!! She shot our engagement session, wedding and reception, as well as a separate religious ceremony before our family celebration. By the time our wedding day arrived our entire family knew Kelly on a first name basis and couldn’t wait for her arrival! Kelly is so thoughtful, patient, and caring - it shows in her beautiful work! She truly took the time to learn about what was important to us not only about the day, but also about each other and our families.
Kelly helped us to create a wedding day timeline so thoughtful and seamless, that we were able to relax and enjoy the day without starting at the crack of dawn and spending hours dragging our wedding party around. We were all able to mingle and partake in the atmosphere we worked hard to create!
Kelly and her second photog, Darcy, were so professional on our wedding day - they helped everyone to feel at ease and at times you didn’t even know they were there - all the while snapping up memorable shots left and right! Our coordinator even said they had never worked with such an organized vendor!

I truly cannot describe how amazing working with Kelly was. From the first meeting, my husband and I knew that she would be the perfect fit for our wedding day. What was most apparent, is that Kelly truly cares about her clients and making sure that not just the pictures, but the day is amazing. She was always available to answer any questions I had, regardless of if they were about the photography or just the wedding day/planning as a whole. It was such an amazing bonus to working with her!
I cannot be more in love with the ENTIRE photo package that she gave us. From the moment she walked in until the moment she left, she truly captured every smile, laugh, hug, and precious moment. My husband was not super comfortable with getting professional pictures taken when we started the whole wedding journey, however he loosened up and had a great time and we have to give Kelly an immense amount of credit for that. Kelly Walsh Loss captured my wedding perfectly and I absolutely recommend her and her work. I first contacted her because I fell in love with her portfolio. You could feel the love in every shot. From first contact to well after the wedding, Kelly made me feel like my wedding was a priority. She was professional, kept in touch throughout the planning process, and was incredibly easy to work with. The day of she was calm and on top of things (brides - this is so important), quietly captured beautiful moments between us and our friends and family, and went above and beyond to get us some very special shots, including standing out in the pouring rain for a bit. Like I said, above and beyond. It's true what they say about your wedding day going by in a blur. Kelly's photos allowed me to revisit that day and linger on all of the sweet moments, which is such a gift. You will not regret investing in Kelly's beautiful work. -

It was quite a long day so I am extra appreciative of the efforts made by Kelly to catch every minute. I am notoriously camera shy so when picking a photographer I was pretty nervous. Kelly matched my vibe immediately. She listened to what was important to me and made sure to note anything in particular my husband and I needed from her. We met a few times before the big day and hashed out portraits/ideas. It made things so easy the day of because I knew what to expect from that part of the day.She even distributed a schedule to each of our vendors so that everyone was on the same page. I did not have a wedding planner so this extra service was particularly useful to me. Kelly made my husband and I feel comfortable in from of the camera and was so good that most of the time I didnt notice she was there...leading to so pretty amazing candid shots of us with our families. I couldnt have asked for more. Highly recommend her services!!

From the start, she was responsive, super friendly, straightforward and clearly interested in getting to know us. Kelly and I met up for coffee after work and I immediately felt at ease with her personality and joy for what she does! She had great examples to show me and we went through the whole process. Her pricing was the most reasonable of any of the photographers I met with during wedding planning and I loved that it was super upfront and flexible. Approaching the wedding day, my now husband and I met with Kelly to discuss the timeline, family dynamics and our shot list and she had great recommendations! She was very reassuring that we could get everything done that we wanted and really put me at ease that I would not have to stress about the photography for our wedding day. She was always responsive to my questions via e-mail. I was so worried about the rain expected on our day and I can't believe that we pulled off exactly what I wanted - bridal party shots indoors and then wedding portraits at the monuments on the national mall (despite the drizzle)! On the wedding day, we met our second photographer who was also great and they both were such a calming presence. Kelly kept to the timeline so I didn't have to and she was brilliant with our bridal party and family members. We LOVE our photos and love her style! She really captured the emotions of the day and no photos look staged or stuffy which is exactly what we wanted. She brilliantly captured a group photo of all of our guests on the dance floor which we will treasure forever. What I most love about our wedding photos is that the ceremony photos really capture the intimacy and emotion of that time and the reception photos really capture the fun and joy we shared with our family and friends.

Alice Sent on 08/03/2018We love our wedding photos! No, really, we LOVE our wedding photos. How do we even begin to review Kelly and her incredible work?! We knew from the start that she would be a great fit when she simply asked if we could meet her at a coffee shop, fill out some questionnaires, and discuss who we are and what we are looking for in a wedding photographer. She genuinely wanted to know us and our story. Kelly is compassionate, caring, and deeply talented. Because of her true care for the people she works with, her photographs capture the magnitude of the day, the beauty of the families and friends, the small details that we would have otherwise forgotten (i.e. even this bride’s calendars and to-do lists posted on the fridge), and so very much joy and laughter. Her specialty is candid action shots (and they’re genius), but don’t let that fool you…her portraits and more formal shots are beautiful. She puts people at ease with her calm and competent demeanor and she is not intrusive or pushy in any way. She thinks through every moment of the day and ensures that nothing is lost on her camera roll (plus, it doesn’t hurt that she’s a former event planner – so she just “gets” the flow of the day and can anticipate where she needs to be at different points so that she didn’t miss a minute). In essence, she is an excellent communicator who empathizes with her clients and immerses herself in the environment to capture the mood - and she happens to take absolutely beautiful photographs.

I wanted to be able to remember not only the detail of the day, but the true emotions of how we (and our family & friends) felt. Kelly nailed it. From the beginning, Kelly was responsive and organized. I loved getting to meet with her and do our engagement photos. She was super helpful in developing the timeline of our day and organizing between vendors since we didn't have an outside planner. On our wedding day she felt like one of our guests, she wasn't distracting and helped the day flow so smoothly. She really values the importance of allowing us to enjoy our day, not just spend time taking photos (although I love taking photos!) I was THRILLED when we received our photo gallery. She captured all of the most important moments and I was amazed by the range of emotions that she captured. It felt like I was reliving each moment by going through the photos. It is nearly impossible to pick just a few favorites. I will cherish them for years to come. My fiancé and I planned a Catholic-Jewish wedding on a tight budget while in medical school...I can confidently say that our big day would not be as amazing as it was without Kelly. As soon as I meet with Kelly I knew she was exactly the relaxed but organized fun loving photographer I was looking for. Kelly was very considerate of our budget, helped us nail down our timeline and coordinate between vendors and family members on the big day. Before the big day we had an engagement shoot with Kelly in Old Town Alexandria and felt immediately comfortable with her behind the camera.
