Exceptional photographer
Karen was an absolute dream to work with as the photographer for our wedding at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. We had our reception at Arnoldi’s Cafe and the photos turned out magical. From our initial call until the day of, her professionalism and experience were evident in every interaction. She was very responsive and answered all our questions regarding the location since it was a destination wedding for us. She guided us with helpful recommendations for most of our other vendors and helped keep everything running smoothly on the day of. She also took our engagement photos which we were gonna skip, but per her suggestion, taking them made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera which made for less awkward looking photos. Beyond her incredible skill, Karen’s personality truly sets her apart—she’s warm, easygoing, and calming, which made the entire day even more enjoyable. She helped create our timeline and she planned it perfectly that eventhough we ran a bit late for our scheduled photo times, we were still able to execute our shot list and were in time for the ceremony. Her work is stunning; the photos captured genuine emotion, beautiful details, and the essence of our wedding which turned out to be a perfect day. We especially loved the candid one but there were so many amazing pictures that we just wanna print all of them! She provided us with preview photos within a week of our wedding which we loved and delivered the rest promptly as she promised. I called her my wedding fairy godmother and picking her was one of the best decisions we could’ve made. We wholeheartedly recommend Karen to anyone looking for a talented, experienced, and fantastic photographer. -

Karen was absolutely incredible for our wedding at the Santa Barbara Courthouse this past September. Her professionalism, deep knowledge of the location, and ability to capture stunning, emotional moments truly set her apart.
She guided us through the entire process with ease and made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. Most importantly, she was exceptionally attentive to my wife, Lily, who was deeply grateful for how supported, confident, and cared for she felt throughout the day. Karen’s calm presence made a huge difference.
Her communication and coordination with our wedding planner were flawless, and her response time and turnaround on the photos were outstanding. The quality of the final gallery exceeded all expectations, every image was beautifully delivered and something we will cherish forever.

I cannot speak more highly of Karen's amazing photography skills, demeanor, and professionalism. From the very beginning Karen made us feel at ease, confident, and supported. Karen made our entire engagement session so enjoyable - we truly had the best time, and looking back at our photos is such a pleasure as it brings back the happy memories of making the moments.
We are both not super comfortable in front of the camera, and Karen put us at ease and even gave us posing tips. Karen took the time to get each photo perfect, and even scoped out unique spots to make our photos extra special.
I am sad we are getting married on the East Coast, because I can only imagine how wonderful Karen would have been as our wedding photographer. If you're looking for a highly-skilled, professional, personable, friendly, and funny photographer, you've found her! -

Not only was she an excellent communicator and a consummate professional, she was willing to work with our budget and even allowed us the opportunity to shoot at multiple locations. Perfect for Santa Barbara!
We couldn’t be happier with Karen’s work photographing our wedding at the Santa Barbara Mission. From the moment she arrived, she took charge with quiet confidence—managing family members, coordinating with Mission staff, and gracefully navigating the occasional tourist interloper. It was immediately clear that we were in expert hands. Once Karen got to work, we stopped thinking about photography entirely—an huge load off on a hectic day!
The Mission is a challenging venue to photograph: it’s both a sacred space and a historic landmark, with strict rules and extremely low light indoors. Karen handled every aspect with professionalism, technical mastery, and sensitivity, earning compliments from the Mission staff.
And of course her photos are stunning. Karen’s artistic style is a perfect match for the Mission’s timeless beauty. Her natural color palette and creative use of light perfectly showcase our beautiful and historic venue. We would highly recommend Karen to anyone planning a wedding in Santa Barbara! -

As everyone knows, when planning a wedding finding the right photographer is never fun, and always adds another layer of stress to an already long list of things to do. My now wife and I eloped to the Santa Barbara courthouse, with our mothers as witness. We could have not asked for a better photographer! Karen is AMAZING!! From the moment we first contacted Karen, she was very professional and detailed oriented. Once we met her on our magical day, there was not an ounce of doubt in our minds we had made the right choice. Karen knew the right photo locations, captured beautiful candids, and was so kind, caring, and SUCH a good eye. Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding
Working with Karen was absolutely amazing! She is very talented, a great communicator, and very knowledgable about posing photographs. She made our not so photogenic family look great in our wedding photographs. Our wedding was at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and she knew all the right places to take pictures. She even got our archway pictures by positioning us just right to block out all of the visitors behind us. I couldn't recommend Karen enough! She made our wedding day stress free. -

I cannot say enough about how absolutely wonderful it was to work with Karen for our Santa Barbara Courthouse elopement. She was a consummate professional and an absolute delight. She made us both feel at ease, and truly helped us enjoy our day. Our guests even commented how she was so mindful of "the little things" and that our pictures came out so beautifully as a result. Hiring Karen was simply the best decision we made when it came to planning our wedding. Once my fiancé and I had decided that we wanted to get married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, I knew I wanted a photographer who had shot there before and was familiar with all of the beautiful spots on the grounds as well the unique lighting inside the mural room where our ceremony was taking place. Not only did Karen exceed that requirement, she immediately made planning our wedding feel like the most obtainable process for two people who are notoriously bad at planning! Every time we needed a referral for a vendor, she gave us multiple options and everyone who we hired based on her suggestions exceeded our expectations. She always made us feel comfortable and at ease when taking photos, both during our engagement shoot and our wedding and the results are truly stunning. We held our reception at the De La Vina Inn, an intimate backyard/garden style dinner that was captured so beautifully. Even during chaotic moments throughout the day, Karen made us feel calm and kept us on schedule so that we could have the most enjoyable day possible! A big shoutout to her second shooter, Bex, who was also so considerate, helpful, and fun to be around the whole day! We are truly so grateful we hired such a professional to capture our special day.

Karen was an absolute joy to work with. We got married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse in June 2023, not only did she take AMAZING photos she assisted me with vendor referrals, which was so helpful, making our small wedding easy to plan. We spent about an hour before the ceremony taking pictures of my husband and I, she knew all the best places on property to take gorgeous photos. We were at ease, she was so kind, patient, and understood what I was looking for in wedding photos. After the ceremony she was able to wrangle family (not an easy task) and capture all of the group photos we were looking for. I highly recommend Karen to anyone looking to capture authentic, gorgeous photos. She's the best. -

Merry & Married
Karen is the best! We eloped at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and wanted to capture the moment to share with our families. We had so much fun and laughter hanging out with her. She has that artistic eye to find something interesting in addition to the must-have standard pictures. We thought we’d get a handful of good photos out of this, and when the sneak peak came a day later, we loved all of them! Thank you Karen!!

I found our amazing photographer Karen through a simple ig search. She literally became such an asset throughout our entire wedding planning process. Our wedding was small and technically a destination wedding (Santa Barbara) as it was a few hours outside of our residing community (Upland, CA). Karen was such a great support and very great to work with. Also very organized, respectful and communicative. I would definitely recommend her photography services again and really appreciate all the time and dedication she put into getting to know us and capture our special day so beautifully. -

My Husband and I cannot thank Karen enough. We are speechless. We are in love with our photos. We were expecting them to be awesome, but her work surpassed what we were expecting. We were referred to Karen by a friend who eloped in Santa Barbara a few years ago. Due to Covid and travel challenges for family/friends, we decided that an elopement was right for us. After speaking with Karen and seeing her work, we hired her and that was the best decision! Karen was the perfect fit for our style as we wanted to capture images that included us and also highlighted the beautiful architecture of our hotel (Hotel Californian) and ceremony location (Santa Barbara Courthouse). Karen was easy to work with and we had so much fun working with her on our wedding day. She allowed us to be in the moment as she worked in the background capturing so many great images. Our challenge now is trying to select the images we want to frame and use in an album--there are SO many fantastic choices! We highly recommend Karen! -

Professional and Very Talented
What can I say about Karen and her services? First, she is so accommodating. We were planning to marry in Sept 2020 and then had to cancel due to COVID. We then rescheduled for July 2021 at our initial venue. Our venue came back and said they will not be able to have our wedding. We ended up having our Wedding in July 2021 at another venue. Karen was so gracious with all of the changes. We did pre-photos before our wedding in a park and she just captured our love to a tea. Her professionalism is beyond compare. On the day of our wedding, she captured every little detail (getting ready, setup, rings, ceremony pamphlets, dinner setting and everything in between). She gave our wedding party pointers on looking great and they were very grateful to her. We got to take photos on the helipad at our venue and Karen always captures the best lighting. We were so impressed we bought wedding albums from her for us and our parents for Christmas presents. Karen is the absolute best. We (my husband and I) will recommend her to everyone we know. There is no doubt that she is top notch. -

AMAZING!!! Highly recommend!!!
Wow! Full Stop! Karen D Photography is the wedding photographer (and low key superhero) you want to hire for your wedding, or any other event you want to remember forever. We had no idea how to plan a wedding, not to mention in the middle of a pandemic, but Karen replied to our late-night email within minutes, immediately put our minds at ease, and set up a zoom call for two days later. Not only did we leave that call with our wedding photographer to be, but we also had an engagement shoot booked and a wedding day timeline from Karen, that nine months later, was almost to a T the timeline of how our day went. But let’s talk about her art, yeah art, because her wedding/engagement photos are that good! You will not be disappointed with the results. We are extremely pleased with her work and cannot recommend her highly enough. Her prices are so reasonable, even more so when you realize you’re getting so much more than just a wedding photographer. Her professionalism is second to none, she’s on top of it! Your search is over for a wedding photographer. -

Amazing Experience
I can only say positive things about Karen D Photography. To begin, even prior to the wedding, Karen was always so kind, helpful, & friendly. I’m not local to the Santa Barbara area and I was looking around for photographers, vendors, & venues for my wedding. Unlike any other photographer I spoke to, Karen was the ONLY one who sent me a long list of recommendations for vendors & venues. That list, support, & caring character helped me during such a stressful time. Throughout the process, through the ups & downs of the pandemic & closures, Karen was there for me. That is well beyond her role as a wedding photographer but it shows her one of a kind character. I knew from the start, I wanted her to be our wedding photographer! Another thing I love is that she tags the vendors her couples use for their weddings. It totally helped me find local resources to use. Karen’s attention to detail, her kindness, & her photography skills are unmatched! On the day of my wedding, she was flawless. She made me feel so comfortable, helped me get perfect photos throughout the day, but especially at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and Convivo Restaurant. Even prior, she had me develop a list to determine important photos I wanted, it gave me time to actually think about it because wedding days are usually hectic. She also provided a second photographer to help capture our day. I feel we were able to get great photos throughout the SB Courthouse grounds because Karen knows the location, she knows where the lighting is best, & knows all the angles. For our reception at Convivo restaurant, she took more photos there to allow for additional variety. I will cherish my wedding day & all my photographs for my lifetime. Karen took pictures of all the details which was so fun to relive when my completed wedding profile was sent over. I love that I have photos of such special moments with my parents, grandparents, & family. My family also loved her! Karen was our wedding photographer for our wedding reception at the beautiful Glen Annie Golf Club in Santa Barbara, CA, and boy did she do an incredible job!! We just about cried a million happy tears when we received our photos as she perfectly captured all the joy and love everyone felt that day! She got everything down to a T and knew the perfect spots around the venue for the best shots. Karen is extremely easy to work with and is very organized. Skilled photographer, even great for awkward couples :)
We were lucky enough to find Karen (of Karen D photography) as our photographer for our small courthouse ceremony at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. We first spoke on the phone as we lived several hours away. She got to know us and what we were looking for in a photographer for our special day. She is very organized and knowledgable about weddings in general and especially about the SB courthouse as a venue. She is incredibly professional but also personable and felt like a friend rather than a stranger. My partner and I have never done professional photos as a couple and despite that, she made us feel comfortable and captured some amazing photos (see included pictures). She also captured our family in different combinations (that we planned ahead of time). We will cherish these amazing photos throughout our life together. I can't thank her enough for her amazing skill and great energetic spirit. I highly recommend her. -

We got married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse with a reception at El Paseo Restaurant in February 2020. Karen was literally a dream photographer and was one of the reasons our wedding day was perfect. Besides capturing the day beautifully, she also participated in the overall planning of the wedding and helped the day run smoothly. Our wedding party was a little...rowdy…. and she handled everyone patiently and professionally. Her overall demeanor was so calm the day of and my bridesmaids really enjoyed her energy. I would highly recommend participating in an engagement shoot prior to the wedding. Our personalities instantly clicked with Karen and she understood our style and vibe right away. We got tons of compliments on both the engagement photos and our wedding photos. Karen was extremely responsive and gracious with her time when we reached out to her for advice and questions throughout the whole experience. I would HIGHLY recommend Karen D Photography.

We hired Karen because of her wonderful shots and familiarity with the Santa Barbara courthouse, which is where we tied the knot. Karen was patient and full of great ideas for pictures. She managed to get so many wonderful shots of the ceremony even though it seemed like we never saw her. She's truly a photography ninja, so you won't have to worry about her taking away from your special event as she works the room.
Again, Karen is very patient. Some of our guests were tough to wrangle in for pictures, but she took it all in stride, and was instrumental in making sure we captured all the people we wanted in our photographs. I would highly recommend Karen for capturing weddings or any other life events where creativity, professionalism and friendliness are required. -
