We hired Dorotheea from Kamea Events for her Full Service Wedding Planning package, and it was hands down the BEST decision that we could've made for our August 2023 wedding. Let me tell you why:
My (then) fiance and I had a two-year engagement. Originally, we decided to get married at a very popular, full-service wedding venue in the Hood River area. However, several months after booking the venue, I had a change of heart and vision for our wedding. We decided that we wanted to have an intimate 100-person wedding in the backyard of an AirBnb in the Willamette Valley. I was so worried about what this shift would mean for the rest of our wedding planning process. When I called Dorotheea to tell her the news she said: "Don't worry, I've got this." Cue huge sigh of relief!
Planning a backyard AirBnb wedding is no easy feat, as we had to essentially create a wedding venue from a completely blank canvas. We had to rent portable restrooms, figure out the power source for the band, and create an outdoor kitchen area for the catering company (just to name a few unique challenges!). Dorotheea handled everything we threw at her with poise, flexibility, and ease.
Throughout the entire process, Dorotheea was communicative, professional, and knowledgeable. She does an amazing job serving her couples by being an excellent listener to extract exactly what is the most important to you about your wedding. You can tell that her goal really is to create a wedding that is uniquely tailored to you and your partner. On top of that, we truly felt like Dorotheea was our biggest advocate and source of support throughout the entire wedding planning process. On the day of the wedding, Dorotheea was calm, yet assertive, and I had complete confidence in her ability to lead our wonderful team of vendors. Everything went off without a hitch, and it was truly the best wedding my (now) husband and I had ever been to! Most importantly, it felt like us.
I would highly recommend Dorotheea for any of your wedding planning needs - from elopements to intimate backyard weddings to full-scale weddings at traditional venues. Whether you are located in the Pacific Northwest (Washington & Oregon) or New England (Boston), rest assured that you will be in the very best of hands with Dorotheea from Kamea Events. -

Dorotheea was, hands down, the best investment we could have ever made for our wedding. We had the pleasure of planning 3 different versions of our 2020 wedding with her- from 175 people and a full Hood River weekend to 30 people in an intimate, backyard ceremony while the smoke apocalypse graced us with its presence. Dorotheea was thrown every event curveball possible and was a wonderful sounding board filled with professionalism, creativity, and flexibility throughout the entire saga.
I also could not recommend investing in Dorotheea's design talents more. One of the best things about Dorotheea is her impeccable, timeless taste that can translate to slightly different styles. She listens and elevates through inspiration planning and execution on your actual day. This is in addition to the top vendor recommendations to bring YOUR event to life.
Our friends & family were truly blown away by the beauty and ease of the day. Dorotheea's consistent, balanced approach of being creative and grounded allows for all of the excitement to take place and for you to remain completely present on your day.

I literally can’t articulate in words how grateful I am for Dorothea, and Kamea Events.
I live in New York but my then boyfriend and I both grew up in Oregon, and wanted to get married in a place that would feel familiar to us and our (very different) families. We decided on a beautiful little beach town on the Oregon coast and a family-only, micro-wedding style celebration!
My husband and I definitely took the road less traveled in getting to this day.... and after a decade together - we knew we wanted it to be personal and meaningful, with every detail curated and considered.....but we really had no idea where to start needed help on the ground.
I think I actually started by googling something like: ‘best+oregon+coast+elopement-wedding-planner’. I found Dorothea by tracing back one of the images in my moodboard back to her website. I spoke to several others, but I loved her work and we knew Dorothea was our first choice after the first conversation with her.
We partnered with her on planning, decor/styling, and day-of coordination for a 15 person wedding.
The biggest aha moment for me was when we kicked off planning and Dorothea gave us the advice to first focus on what she called the ‘creative contributors’ of the day ie. decor/styling, photographer and florist.
Knowing that she would be in charge of decor and styling, I felt completely confident in her taste level, her talent, and her ability to set the aesthetic tone of the day.
She presented her recos on other creative vendors she thought might be a good fit. With careful thought and consideration and TONS of advice from Dorothea on how to even evaluate different vendors, we chose @clarkdmiller as our wonderful photographer, and Alisha at @fortheloveoffloral as our amazing florist.
Planning:
Leading up to the wedding she was incredible - laying out the path forward in a way that felt totally manageable, and never losing patience when I got overwhelmed anyway and asked the same questions over and over. She was attentive and supportive and organized and creative.
Decor:
Dorothea is an incredible artist and I knew I couldn’t be in better hands. At that point I had such a deep understanding of what each vendor was capable of - so the thought of them all collaborating was super exciting. The brief for the decor was simple “I know whatever you do will be beautiful - surprise me!” And oh boy, am I glad I did - she went beyond what I ever could’ve imagined!!!
The day of:
Dorothea and the team arrived midday and my knee-jerk reaction was to get everyone acquainted with the space and introduce everyone to the family - but she calmly took control immediately, and kindly suggested I “have another mimosa, focus on relaxing, and enjoy get ready!” She was a dream. I must have hugged her a million times that day.
Every single minute of the day was carefully coordinated and Dorothea seamlessly integrated into our family as if she’d become a part of it... it never felt rushed, awkward or invasive...
Dorothea is a true professional as well as a lovely person with so much grace. She built the blue print for a dream I never even knew I had, and assembled the team that skillfully brought to life what was unequivocally the most magical day of our lives. It captured exactly who we are and reflected the warmth of our families coming together.
I still well up with tears of joy just thinking about all of it now...... such an absolutely perfect day in every way. -

Our best day ever - thanks to Dorotheea & Kamea!
We had the privilege of working with Dorotheea at Kamea Events for our wedding on Sept 14, 2019. We initially landed on Kamea Events via Instagram, we loved her style/aesthetic and knew that she was the perfect fit for our vision, and by chance had availability!
We booked Dorotheea for full planning, and day-of coordination services, and gave her total creative control.
Our wedding date was extra special because it was also our daughter's first birthday - so we wanted to be sure to incorporate her, and this first milestone in our plans for the day.
Dorotheea more than exceeded our expectations, and throughout the whole process we were free from worry and stress as we knew we were in good hands.
From the bigger rentals and logistics, all the way down to the smallest detail, everything was absolutely perfect. Day-of, I never wanted for a thing, because Dorotheea had literally everything covered. My only wish is that we could do it all over again, and slow down to take in all the beautiful things she created - from the tablescapes to the outdoor "living room" areas, the whole day was a dream.
Always hire a wedding planner, and always look for Kamea's availability first. Their services are more than worth the investment, and though I don't plan on having another wedding (haha!) I would hire Dorotheea again in a heartbeat!

Tiffany Sent on 03/23/2018Dorotheea is one of the most amazing humans I have ever met. I don’t say that lightly. Everything I have seen her put her hands to has turned out so good! Including my very own wedding. I met with Dorotheea when I was completely overwhelmed and frustrated with trying to figure out how to make my vision for my wedding come to life and make it cost effective for 250 guests. I did not have the time to research prices and shop around with only a six month engagement process, but from the moment I met with her I felt so much stress and weight fall off my shoulders. She took the time to listen to my vision, provide advice, and shop around for the cheapest prices of everything from candles to linens. What I appreciated the most with Dorotheea is that she didn’t tell me my ideas were not going to work or try to convenience me to go another direction, but she truly partnered with my vision and over exceeded my expectations of the perfect elegant/romantic wedding. Another thing I appreciated was this girls communication skills. She communicates quick and never leaves you hanging and always keeps you informed which was so refreshing during the wedding planning process. This girl loves details and that shows in her beautiful work. I would recommend Kamea to everyone and anyone whether you are planning a wedding or a simple birthday party.
