Absolutely Wonderful!

Justine is amazing! When we were looking at photographers for our wedding she was our top pick. When we did our engagement photos with her we realized we had made the absolute right choice. Justine was supportive and helpful during a very difficult time when we had to postpone and reschedule our wedding. She worked with me on many alternative plans as we got up to the day. Then the day our wedding was perfect, just everything I hoped for and more. She captured all the shots I asked for. She got the biggest smiles from my niece. She has a way of photographing so that I didn't even realize she was there. Also her use of light is incredible. It is what first drew me to her photos. Since we were getting married on the beach the light was so important to me. I wanted that perfect soft magic hour look and she delivered. She got so many special moments that I didn't even realize. She captured the most magical moments for us. I cannot thank her enough.

Review is for pre-wedding communication

We cannot wait to shoot our engagement and wedding photos with Justine! She is kind, funny, and has a gorgeous photojournalistic eye toward capturing the humor and warmth between couples, friends, and families. Unlike so much trendy wedding photography, we didn't see any gloomy-in-the-name-of-art photos in her portfolio -- we saw authentic, in the moment love and laughter bursting from her photos.

We LOVED working with Justine for our engagement and wedding photos. One of the things that initially drew me in was how comfortable people seemed and how everyone looked like they were having so much fun in their photos! She captured all of those moments for us in the most perfect way and I would highly recommend her to everyone!

This review is long overdue, but not because of any lack of enthusiasm for Justine's fantastic work! My husband and I got both our engagement photos and wedding photos done by Justine and they were amazing! She was incredibly accommodating and professional. She came all the way out to New York City to take our engagement photos and the images were stunning. She put us both at ease and the process was seamless and quick. When she came to shoot our wedding in Maine, her excitement and positivity when she and her assistant arrived were infectious and we loved having her around. She took gorgeous candid shots and plenty of family portraits that we requested. Our venue was kind of in the middle of nowhere but she found a lovely spot for everyone to take their pictures. I am so glad that I preserved these memories using Justine's talent. I look forward to working with her in the future!

We had the great fortune (and pleasure!) of re-hiring Justine for our wedding this past month. Justine had previously photographed my sister's wedding and I had truly fallen in love with her work... so much so that we factored her availability into selecting our wedding date!

While Justine is an artist, she does not let her "vision" impede in a couple's needs/wants and builds her photography around the photos (and type of photos) most important to the couple. We felt completely at ease with our list of desired photos and let Justine take over the rest! She is incredibly easy to work with and has a wealth of knowledge for "novice couples" (like the two of us) ---we were so grateful to have her with us on our special day!

Loved using Justine! She came all the way to Connecticut for our wedding. She did a great job and made me feel really at ease. I don't generally like having my picture taken but she made me feel so comfortable. She was so easy to get a hold of and was so responsive to the type of images we wanted.

If you are looking for an amazing wedding photographer, you've found her! My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Justine for both our engagement photos and our wedding day and we couldn't be happier with our decision! Justine conducted herself with such professionalism and poise and kept us on track during a very busy day. Most importantly though, we had such a BLAST with her! She had us laughing from start to finish and because of that, the photos are a true representation of us on the happiest day of our lives. I can't say enough good things about Justine! I found her online and I just loved her style! The thing that struck me the most is how HAPPY and COMFORTABLE people look in her pictures. My (now) husband and I are not the kind of people who love taking pictures or consider ourselves very photogenic- and that is exactly why we were drawn to Justine. I knew she would bring it out in us!!! Right away I knew she was chill, informative and competently non-judgmental! She was always on top of communicating with us and was full of information that was helpful to us. She is extremely approachable, flexible and professional. On our wedding day she and her assistant were totally on point. I loved the way our engagement pictures came out and our wedding teasers came out. I can't wait to see the full album of pictures from the wedding. I can't recommend her enough and I wish I lived closer because I would have her photograph my entire life if I could!!! LOVE HER!

Justine photographed my brother's wedding two years ago, and the photos were absolutely stunning. Having seen the work of other photographers compared to hers, it was clear to me that I absolutely needed to book her to do my wedding. As soon as I got engaged, she was the first vendor we contacted.
Justine was an absolute pleasure to work with. She did a great job helping us first-time wedding planners out by recommending package options and timing to fit our needs and budget. Not only was she very professional and extremely attentive on the day itself, she was someone I think my husband and I would really like to hang out with.
When she put some of our teasers up online just a few short days after the wedding, it reminded me exactly why I was so determined to hire her. She is more than just someone to take pictures of things happening and people you like on your wedding day. She is an artist - passionate about her work, and extremely talented. I highly recommend her!

Justine was fantastic!

Both my husband and I are not very comfortable in front of a camera but Justine worked some magic. Our Wedding photos are AMAZING!
She was able to capture some great moments and no even knew she was there. The open air photo booth was also fantastic, I totally recommend adding that to any wedding package you choose.

I cannot begin to express how amazing Justine Johnson is... but I will try!

I found Justine while researching for wedding photographers . I went through SO many portfolios of local photographers and a lot of them were very good, but Justine's work just stood apart. She has such an amazing grasp on color and composition that just brings the images to life. The energy just radiates from her work, and that is definitely something we wanted for our wedding photos.

My first meeting with Justine was at our engagement session (which was amazingly included in the price of our wedding package). Justine was awesome and met us on a weekend day (which she usually reserves for more important sessions) at our location of choice. She was just as excited as we were to be getting our engagement photos done. She was also excited that we brought along our dog, who is practically our child! She was so great through the whole session. We were nervous at first and thought we would have to pose in certain ways, but Justine had a way where we were relaxed and everything just came naturally.

She didn't have us pose, but she had great ideas where to stand and how to interact with each other that would make for great shots. She also took the ideas we had for photos and made them great. She found spots at our location that we would have never thought to go to. Our engagement photos turned out amazing! So colorful and full of life. The perfect amount of candid shots and more structured photos.

After seeing the beautiful engagement shots, I was way less stressed about the wedding photos. I knew I could just relax and let Justine do her thing and SHE DID! Every aspect of our wedding was photographed perfectly, from the photo booth her assistant ran, to our posed family shots, to the amazing candids at the reception, to the hilarious wedding party photos, to the intimate couples shoot we stole away to do after our "I dos."

I could not recommend Justine any higher!

Hiring Justine as our wedding photographer was an easy decision early in our wedding planning process. We were attracted to the use of color in her photos, and the general feeling of "fun" in her photos. From the first time I reached out to Justine inquiring on price and availability, I knew that she was the best choice for our wedding. We were planning our wedding from out of state, and Justine's prompt and friendly responses to my emails made me feel comfortable booking her without the opportunity to meet in person. The included engagement photo session was an added bonus, and really helped us feel more comfortable during portraits on our wedding day.

Justine and her assistant Devon arrived on time on the day of the wedding, and immediately got to work. They were flexible throughout the day, and we even able to stay an extra hour to capture some additional photos of the party. The photos that we received for our wedding are fantastic, and really show the casual and colorful style that I was attracted to in looking at her photos. Justine captured all of my requested family portraits, but the true star are the candid shots. There were so many small moments caught on camera, and they truly illustrate the feelings of our day. Every photo that Justine delivered makes me smile, and brings me back to the wedding day. I have gotten so many compliments on our photos. I can't thank Justine enough for how well she was able to preserve the memories of our wedding day.

Justine and her team were great to work with. My husband and I searched extensively for an affordably priced photographer for our wedding day in Boston (P.S. there aren't any)! Justine had done the photography at a friend's wedding so I knew her work was amazing. Imagine our surprise when she told us she had no problem coming down from Maine to shoot our entire wedding day!

We had a long and involved wedding day that started at city hall, moved to a luncheon, and was capped off by an evening reception. Justine and her team didn't batt an eye, showed up promptly at each venue, and hit the perfect balance of cool professionalism (got all of the requisite "family" pictures) and "wow - you're photographer was so great I barely noticed she was there."

The finished product was simply awesome. We wanted to capture the more candid and relaxed moments and Justine did just that. We could not be happier with the pictures.

Justine is wonderful to work with. She's fun and easy going, and really seems to love what she does. Her assistants are hilarious and bring a great energy and enthusiasm with them. I would HIGHLY recommend her and her team!

We searched high and low for a wedding photographer with a style that complimented ours (and fit in our budget)! Her photos were so colorful and bright- they simply exuded joy. Once we spoke to Justine the deal was sealed. She was so sweet and seemed to completely "get" us. Also, we found out that our wedding venue was on her list of dream venues; she offered us a killer discount (on top of already stellar prices)! When we met up with her for our free engagement shoot we were immediately put at ease by her warm and genuine personality. We were so nervous about the PDA involved in the shoot, and by the end we were having so much fun! We received "teasers" very quickly! Justine was very good about communicating when the photos would be ready. The photos were absolutely gorgeous; they were so vibrant and fun! We couldn't stop looking at them. We were able to download the digital files (NO ONE else we talked to did that). We knew we would be in good hands on our wedding day. A number of emails were exchanged prior to the wedding day to make sure we were all on the same page re: special photos, formal shots, etc. Justine was always very quick to respond and was extremely thorough. On our wedding day Justine and her staff were very professional, friendly, and efficient. My husband and I had underestimated the time we would need for the day, and Justine was more than willing to accommodate extra time (at a very reasonable rate). Our whole experience had been wonderful, and we hadn't even seen the final product yet! Like our engagement photos, we received teasers SO quickly! We even received our final photos in enough time to share them with our families over the holidays, which was wonderful. The photos were absolutely perfect and we could not be happier with them. There is nothing more moving than seeing your wedding day through the lens of someone so gifted. We were so lucky to have found Justine. If you are reading this, hire this woman! You will not regret it :)

Justine photographed our rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony and reception, and we were incredibly grateful to have had her! I would wholeheartedly recommend her without any hesitation. When I first started looking for wedding photographers, I was dismayed by how many photographers required you to pay for an entire day. At that stage in the planning process, we simply couldn't commit to paying someone for the entire day. Thank goodness for Justine! Her pricing structure was so much more flexible than all the others. I think we initially booked her for 3 hours but we were able to extend a couple hours once we knew we had the budget. She was incredibly flexible about all of it! Of all the photographers I contacted, she was also the most responsive, friendly, and personal in her e-mail. We weren't able to meet in person because we were living in another state, but her personality was evident through her e-mails. I could tell that she was enthusiastic and genuine, and I felt comfortable booking her without actually meeting her. Throughout the planning process, Justine was incredibly responsive to my e-mails and was so organized, flexible, and friendly. When we finally met in person, I was immediately comfortable around her. It did not feel like the first time we met at all! During our wedding events, Justine was professional yet warm and friendly. I think everyone felt at ease around her. Justine also provided a photo booth for us, which our guests loved. We were very pleased with the quantity and quality of our photos and will definitely book Justine again for other photo sessions if we're back in the same geographic location again! We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. Justine was the very first vendor that we booked for our wedding and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. We found Justine on A Practical Wedding and immediately knew that we wanted for her to come to our backyard celebration in Vermont. Justine's portfolio showed more than just the event taking place; it showed the emotion behind the event, the connections, the joy.

True to her word, Justine was a photo ninja at our wedding and her photos from the day accurately convey the mood from our wedding in a way that no other photos have captured. Her brilliant use of color and contrast make her style unique and memorable.

The biggest compliment I can pay to Justine is that we had another professional photographer attending our wedding as a guest. At the start of the wedding, our guest was taking a ton of photos, until she realized that Justine was already in place to capture the very moments she was going for. By the end of the night, our guest was having a fantastic time, with her camera nowhere to be found, which is exactly what we were hoping for.

Looking through our wedding photos I have laughed, cried, and been astonished at the details Justine was able to capture. I can truly say that hiring Justine was one of the best decisions we made.

Justine's exceptional service started well before our wedding day with her thorough communication about important shots, the vibe of the day, and getting to know us as a couple even though we were all the way on the West Coast preparing for a Maine wedding. On the day of the wedding Justine arrived on time and ready to go. She was the perfect "fly on the wall" during the pre-wedding festivities, capturing key moments and setting stills without interrupting the flow of the day or adding any stress to the morning. She didn't miss a beat of the ceremony but also didn't interrupt our guests' view of the intimate ceremony of only 16 attendants, and post-ceremony she expedited the group photo process without sacrificing the quality of the images captured. Everyone who has seen our photos has commented on how accurately she captured the mood of the day and our personality as a couple. The candid shots of the toast, cake cutting, and dancing were especially appreciated and incredibly romantic. Finally, the turnaround on the photos was surprisingly quick, yet no editing of details was sacrificed, no corners cut- the quality of the images that we received so shortly after our wedding was remarkable. I could not have asked for better service!

I found Justine on A Practical Wedding. Even though I live in NY, I wanted Justine to come from Maine, since her pictures are so vibrant, colorful and fun... moreso than the photographers in NYC who wanted to charge me $5000 when I asked them how much they would shoot a "budget wedding" for.

She's responsive, fun, and totally a dream to work with. She knew exactly what questions to ask, and totally "got" our wedding. Her photo booth was super amazing, with great props.

Loved every second! :) If only I could have another event for Justine to shoot...

Justine was amazing. We fell in love with her photography when we came across some of her pictures on offbeatbride.com and all but decided on the spot that we wanted her as our photographer. When we saw that she was located just a couple hours away and was willing to travel, we contacted her immediately.

When we got together with her for engagement photo shoot we knew we had made the right choice. Justine was very personable and very easy to get along with. And on top of that, the pictures were amazing.

When it came to the wedding, Justine was both everywhere at once and yet completely unobtrusive. The pictures she captured were incredible but she never once got in anyone's way.

Overall, we would very highly recommend Justine Johnson photography if you're looking for a down to earth, fun, friendly, yet professional photographer who has a great eye for capturing all the important moments and then some!

I can't even begin to express how thankful I am that I found Justine! Going into the wedding planning (from out of state!) finding a great photographer was one of my main priorities, and also the most stressful. I wanted someone that took awesome photos in a photojournalistic way, had reasonable prices, and gave me ownership of the digital files (no watermarks!). I spent several countless nights scouring the internet, and then I found Justine Johnson Photography on Offbeat Bride. I was in love! Justine met all my basic requirements and so much more!

Justine responded right away to my email, she was enthusiastic, friendly, and professional. I can't stress how awesome of a person Justine is and easy to work with. She made planning a pleasure! It also really helped that she included an engagement session in our package - it was great to get to know her before the wedding and gave her an opportunity to learn our quirks, likes and dislikes -- which all contributed to making the big day run smoothly.

On our wedding day, Justine was on time, super friendly and professional, and her assistant was great too. Justine had a clear handle on what she needed to do, so I didn't need to worry about it.

We also ordered the photobooth option -- which I have to give a shout out to Justine for having the best photobooth props! Seriously, the props were a huge hit and resulted in many funny photos of our friends doing ridiculous things.

As for the photos - they were perfect! She took the posed shots with family and the bridal party as well as so many special candid shots that captured special moments. The pictures were sharp and vibrant -- exactly what I had expected based on her online portfolio. To this day I can look at the pictures and clearly re-imagine that day.

Justine was spectacular! I fell in love with her photos that had been featured on Offbeat Bride, and I was thrilled to find that Justine's pricing was more than reasonable. My wife and I love that her photography is vivid and full of life, and we continue to feel that the photos she took on our wedding day captured not just images, but emotions. Before the wedding, I felt like the posed shots were mostly for our parents, but even they are absolutely wonderful! I can't imagine a better wedding photographer.

Justine did the photography for our farm wedding last summer. She was one of the best choices we made in planning our event. A true professional, Justine guided us, both first time event planners, through the process. We worked with her from a distance, and she was always wiling to schedule conference calls to answer our questions. Her organization made the post-ceremony formal shots seamless. For the candids, Justine's presence was so subtle, yet she captured all our honest and beautiful moments. Most importantly, the shots are beautiful, and we are thrilled with the results. We love Justine! I am originally from Maine and my husband is from California and currently live in Boston. We had a laid back, but classy, Maine beach wedding and we were looking for a great photographer and were lucky to get Justine. With very simple directions we were able to have just perfect photos. Justine was very easy going when arranging a plan for the day. She wanted to know all the wedding details and how we wanted our day to be. She met my husband and his family while they were getting ready and took great candid shots. She then traveled with them to the wedding site and she took great photos of the set up and all of our friends and family. When Justine takes photos, she takes one click two clicks and then done. Unlike other photographers I have met, she seems to just get the shot the first time and is great to work with. Her assistant also was very nice and you could tell was a quality person. From the moment we first chatted with Justine it seemed like we were working with a friend. We are just so happy with our wedding memories and they are all documented perfectly. She is a true artist and a professional.

I actually procrastinated writing this review because I wanted to have serious time to gush over how much I love Justine and her work. I stumbled upon Justine Johnson’s photography while pouring over Offbeat Bride. The moment I looked at her pictures I knew that 1) I wanted her to be our photographer and 2) it would be awesome! Starting off with her genuine and authentic emails I then realized what a serious gem of a human I was speaking with!
Even when unexpected events at our wedding put Justine out of commission, she had amazing back up there to ensure our day was captured. Justine came with Kim and Kate who are also super awesome and deserve a shout out! Woohoo!!
We are in the middle of making plans to use our unused “Day After “shoot as a way to capture our soon to be born baby! How awesome!
Justine was amazing! If you are looking for personality both in and out of pictures, then Justine is defiantly the photographer to hire. Just look at her work! Look at the colors and how amazingly she captures the personality of the couple! As someone who identifies as “not a picture person”, I look at my wedding pictures and think, wow, I look amazing and so comfortable! Justine did the photos for our wedding and we are so happy that she did. She was exactly what we were looking for in a photographer - easy-going, easy to work with, friendly, and not pushy about posed pictures or what photos should or should not be taken. She let us guide the process but offered really helpful advice and suggestions when we asked for them. The family and wedding party photos didn't feel staged at all, and, most impressively, she and her assistant, Tina, managed to get everyone organized and get all the pictures done in about 20 minutes while still making the process fun, which was awesome! Justine and Tina were awesome during the reception too - they got so many fantastic candid photos without anyone ever knowing they were having their picture taken! I also really appreciated how organized Justine was prior to the wedding in terms of asking for a list of photos we wanted taken, the names of family members and the schedule of the event (and gently reminding us to send her that info when we forgot to!). Getting that info to her ahead of time made it so much easier to do the family and wedding party photos quickly so that we could all get to the party. We have only wonderful things to say about Justine and highly highly recommend her. And the photos she sent us were beautiful!!! It was so lovely to look through the pictures and remember how much fun we had and what a great day it was, and we wouldn't be able to do that without Justine having been there :-)

Justine was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was professional, warm, funny, and usually more enthusiastic than we were about the details of our wedding. Most importantly, her photos are amazing. We love the way she captured our wedding. We really wanted to see what the day looked like and that's exactly what we got. Justine did a wonderful job of capturing small moments and making everyone look good. We got married at a summer camp on a very rainy day, so most of our photos were either outside in the rain, or in rooms with dark wood and dim light. The outside photos are in gorgeous, vibrant color, making the camp look like a deep green fairy tale and the inside photos are glowy and warm - quite a feat for such challenging venues! I recommend Justine wholeheartedly.

Justine was the best part of the wedding, you know, besides marrying the groom! Out of all the details I stressed over, the decision to hire her was never one of them. The minute Chris and I started planning we had our photographer picked out. I’d seen her blog and her Facebook, and all of the shoots she posts are incredible. Her photographs are just so warm, happy, and full of life and love.That was exactly how I wanted our wedding captured. Justine definitely did not disappoint. On the day of our wedding she arrived at our hotel, and I felt like I was greeting an old friend even though we’d barely met! I felt so comfortable with her taking photos of me, even though I had been nervous because I usually hate having my picture taken. She just has a way about her that puts people at ease. When it came time for group photos after the ceremony Justine and her assistant were great at rounding everyone up. She had asked me for a list of all the formals I wanted done, and she made sure we got them all, even though my big, crazy family didn’t make it easy on her. Throughout the night Justine was everywhere snapping photos that no one even realized she was taking! She was like our ninja-photographer popping up at just the right moments. When we got back from our honeymoon I was so thrilled to see that Justine had posted our teasers, such a great feeling! I felt like I was reliving that night just from the few photos we got to see, and in those photos were the same qualities about her work that I had fallen in love with. I can’t put it any other way, her photographs are just so full of life! They are absolute perfection. I have nothing but the highest praise for Justine. If you’re considering hiring Justine for your wedding, for your family portraits, or anything else, GO FOR IT! I guarantee you won’t regret it. We already have a first anniversary session booked for next year, and I anticipate hiring her to capture many more moments and milestones to come in our lives!

Justine was fantastic from the first email to the final product. Friendly, accommodating, and super helpful, she was great in working within our budget to give us an amazing documentation of our wedding day.

I was less into formal photos, and wanted more of a photo-journalist take. Justine went with what I wanted, and made helpful suggestions when there were things I was not thinking about that ended up being fun and special. In the end, I feel like we got some great traditional wedding photos and some great photojournalist photos, and I couldn't be happier.

Basically, with Justine, I felt like I got the best mix of someone who was both enjoyable to hang out with who also has a great eye for detail and art that made the final product special and something I will actually look at in the years to come, rather than putting in a photo album and forgetting about.

Justine Johnson and her assistant Kim were everything we could have imagined in a photographer. She was kind, courteous to my family, prompt with responding to my questions, well priced, and a BLAST to work with.. Not only did she photograph our wedding but our engagement pictures as well, and I can't count how many times people asked me who did our photos and how they could get in touch with her. I hired Justine for my wedding in September. Justine was wonderful to work with. She is very laid back and lets the couple dictate how they want the pictures to go. We only had maybe 10 minutes of formals because we wanted to focus on our party and have more candid shots. Instead of having pre formed packages she works with people to build a package that suits their needs and budget.
Her work is beautiful! She does an excellent job of capturing not just the details but the feeling of the moment. You will want to print every shot and hang it on your wall, she has a great eye for composition! She blends into the scene while capturing the moments perfectly. She is like a really adorable photo snapping ninja!

First, I have to say I truly couldn't be happier with our wedding photos. They are so beautiful! When I saw Justine's work online, I was immediately struck by the casual and colorful style of her photos. Other reviewers have mentioned how unobtrusive Justine is while she's working, and it's so true. I'm not someone who loves posing for photos, but she made it easy. Justine was wonderful! She offered us an engagement shoot as part of our wedding package so that we could get comfortable in front of her and in front of the camera. Unfortunately, we were unable to schedule a time before the wedding due to weather, but it ended up not mattering! Justine made us feel so comfortable and our photos don't look staged or forced in anyway. She did such a great job of capturing the spirit of who we are. The photos are colorful and bright and you can really feel the joy that was in the air that day. I'll be doing a boudoir shoot with Justine next month and I can't wait.

Justine was so awesome! I have not even seen our pictures yet! lol But I have no doubt that they will be great! Tina (her assistant who was helping with our photo booth) was so great! She had great energy and was so much fun! She did great helping people get fun poses and props for the photo booth! Bonus that she was a fun dancer at the end of the night! I met Justine at my brothers wedding and promptly began following her photos online. She has an incredible eye and is able to make any settling look like a magazine photo. Oh my goodness, I loved working with Justine! I first noticed her work on offbeatbride.com and apracticalwedding.com and was drawn to her style. Her images are colorful, sharp, and interesting and her diverse clients all looked like people I'd want to befriend. My now husband and I met Justine in person for our engagement shoot in Portsmouth, NH and she calmed my pre-photoshoot jitters with her laid-back attitude. Justine is responsive, organized and warm over email. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, she made sure she had all the details and gave suggestions to smooth the timeline of the day. During the wedding, it seemed like she was on ninja-mode: always unobtrusive and yet suddenly there whenever I had the "oooh I'd love a photo of his moment" thought. Choosing a wedding photographer was one of the most important selections of my wedding. Justine was the perfect answer to exactly what I was looking for in a photographer. She was super responsive to all of my (many...oh so many) questions and her quick answers were truly appreciated as I tried to plan the wedding. All of her emails put me in a good mood as they always started and ended with such joy and excitement...and a smiley face :)

She doesn't know this, but I showed her website to my friend (who is a professional photographer) and immediately told me that I should pick her as our wedding photographer. My friend said she captures such excellent angles and emotions, that is exactly what I will want to see in pictures, especially the candid shots.

I can't tell you how correct my friend was with his advice! Justine was so amazing on our wedding day. She caught some excellent moments that have quickly become my favorite pictures of our wedding day. I even get compliments from my family and guests on how great the photos look. Justine produces truly amazing work. She seemed as excited about our wedding as I was - I liked her from the first "Yay!!" in her emails! She was personable yet professional, and melted into the background on the day itself. Though we have a complex and extra-large set of relatives and divorced parents, Justine managed to power through more than 30 family portraits in less than half an hour!

Her use of color is unparalleled - it's the first thing everyone notices when they see our photos. It makes you smile just to look at them. In fact, I've stayed subscribed to her Facebook page long after the wedding, just because I like looking at her work - even when the people in the pics are strangers! The quality of her photography far outpaces her reasonable rates, and we feel very lucky to have had her.

Choosing a wedding photographer was one of my least favorite parts of wedding planning. I contacted a bunch of photographers, but I felt like Goldilocks, where none of the packages were quite the right fit for us (some had too much, some had too little). Then, I found Justine and she was great! She listened to what we were looking for, and offered us exactly what we wanted.

On the day of our wedding, she was on time. She and her assistant were friendly but we also barely noticed they were there. My camera-phobic family thought she was great and she got all the group photos we wanted!

Justine is wonderful, plain and simple. My husband and I wanted a small wedding (10 people!) but still wanted to have professional photography services. I found Justine by searching the Internet for hours and sending many inquiries to various photographers. Thank goodness Justine responded and I didn't book someone else. Our email correspondence was so friendly and personal...I love how she asked questions about us as a couple. It seemed like she knew us before we ever met. I hired Justine for two hours only, since our wedding ceremony and reception was so intimate I figured that was plenty of time. She sent us back a TON of amazing photos. She sent us the teasers as we were sitting on the plane about to leave for our honeymoon!! I almost cried. Sooo good.

Well before I got engaged I saw a wedding shoot Justine had done on Offbeat Bride and I knew then that I had to have her. So I bookmarked her in my secret wedding file and patiently waited for the ring. A quick 2 years later and we were in business!

Right off the bat her AMAZING personality shot through her email like a laser-ray of sunshine. Her excitement was as real as mine and it was only getting me more jazzed! Our wedding was a Super Mario themed and I was only comfortable hiring people who got that my "fiance" and I really wanted a fun wedding. We couldn't have chosen better!

The day of, Justine and her photo booth photographer Tina were there right on time, and as excited as me! They helped me through the pre-picture whirlwind, even remembering the bouquets I had spent hours making and forgotten! They were super comfortable to be around I and actually wish I got to spend more time getting to know them.

As far as the wedding, I couldn't have gotten better feedback from guests.......AND THEY HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE PHOTOS YET. Everyone kept telling me how Justine was like a ninja, blending in with the party to get all those perfect moments. Tina was a hit at the photo booth, getting the very best from all my guests. It really seemed like they were having as much fun as everybody else.

And the payoff?!!! THE MOST breathtaking shots I could have ever asked for. Beautifully captured, artfully edited, and promptly delivered.....in the most beautiful little case with a thank you card. How sweet is that?

As someone who has a BFA in photography I am telling you, this girl is IT. This level of artistic quality and professionalism are like Haley's Comet. She was actually booked for our original wedding date......so we moved it. Because if you want the very best, then Justine's for you.

We hired Justine for our Sept 29 wedding in Lincoln this past fall. We first met her for our engagement pictures the fall before. First off, SO happy we did engagement pictures, not only because they were amazing but also because it was so nice to get to know your photographer before the actual wedding. By the day of the wedding I felt like a friend of ours was doing our photography. It was so wonderful feeling totally comfortable around her (letting someone take totally sappy pictures of you can be akward at first!) and really trusting all of her judgement. All of our engagement pictures were gorgeous and our wedding pictures were even better!! She has a way of capturing these really candid genuine moments. Some of our favorite pictures were ones we weren't even posing for.

One of my concerns was having a photographer or videographer up front and center during a super intimate moment during our ceremony. I've been to too many wedding where the photographers were totally blocking the bride and groom or almost looked to be part of the ceremony. We didn't even see Justine during our ceremony!! Almost to the point where I was nervous weather she had captured good cermoney pictures....low and behold, she someohow did it!! She has a way of being right there without you even knowing!!

We had an absolutely wonderful wedding, I was SO happy with everyone single vendor we chose so it means a lot when I say hiring her was the best decision we made!! Also, by far the best value. So many of the photographers we looked into were so incredibly expensive, so we were really lucky to find her!! I've already warned Justine that as soon as we start a family she'll be one of the first people we call for "bump" pictures or family session!

Justine's love of color & her stunning seaside photography attracted us to her work. She is a consummate professional, flexible about methods of communication & quick with detailed/friendly replies. Justine was so easy going and so so flexible. She also provided something no one else had which really tipped the scales for us. In the early part of our correspondence she matched my level of enthusiasm and excitement throughout a lengthy series of email exchanges while still remaining professional. I felt like she we had connected on a personal level right away. This is something i'm pretty sure every bride wants but it kind of hard to find. You're super excited about that beginning stage of wedding planning but not all the vendors you contact will respect that. We were met with alot of neutrality and auto responses before we found Justine.

The wedding was about 6 months ago and our friends and family are still raving about our pictures. One engaged friend even asked if he could borrow our photos to show his photographer (whom he is already contracted with:(.

Justine was the first of many great wedding decisions. I had liked her page on facebook well before getting engaged and fell in love with her work. I contacted her as soon as we had set a date, crossing my fingers that she would be available, affordable, and willing to travel to RI. Lucky for us, she was!

We had exchanged emails for a while and I got a great sense of her personality, further confirming that we chose the right photographer. We also met via Skype soon before our wedding, which was awesome to be able to do so we could "meet" her before the big day.

At our wedding, Justine and her assistant FLEW through the formals (thank goodness!), so we had plenty of time to get nice couple shots before going into the reception to have fun with our guests. We were giggly and excited, but they were having fun and laughing too, which just added to the high energy of the day - and made for beautiful photos. Comments about Justine's "photo ninja" skills are absolutely true. I don't remember seeing her, yet her photos prove she was right in the middle of all the action. We hired her for candid shots and we got so many great ones. We loved looking through our photos to relive some moments and to look at some of the moments that we missed.

And here's a list of some other perks of hiring Justine: She posted teasers the day after that really WERE a tease! We were blown away and so looking forward to seeing more. She sent us our photos through both Dropbox and DVD. Any additional edits we requested (not for photographic error, but for removing non-family members for family books and photo cards) were taken care of immediately and the results looked flawless.

Justine is a professional memory maker and her passion for her work is what makes her art so beautiful. We look forward to having a photo shoot with her in the spring and we hope to have many more joyous occasions to photograph because we want to hire her again and again!

OK, I don't even know where to start with Justine. Everything about our experience with her was just perfect. I will start off by saying i met with a couple of other photographers before but they were not what I was looking for. I found her on Craigslist out of all places. I am from Rhode Island and it just so happened that she was headed down this way a couple days after talking to her so we met before her other shoot. Not even 5 minutes into our meeting I knew she was the one to shoot our wedding. She is so down to earth, easy to talk to about our wedding (and she was legitimately excited to hear about our ideas) and her portfolio speaks for itself with how talented she is. Also, her prices? Ridiculously reasonable- she doesn't believe in charging a lot, but absolutely could if she wanted to.

My husband and I drove up to Portland to do our engagement pictures and they turned out absolutely gorgeous. It was more like hanging out with a friend rather than having pictures taken! The ceremony and reception were awesome. I couldn't even tell Justine was there! The sneak peaks came out within 3 days, and they are absolutely amazing!! I cannot wait to see more.

I could really go on and on about Justine, she is awesome! Definitely consider her when looking for a photographer.

Justine is an absolutely amazing photographer and we would highly recommend her to anyone that needs photography services!! Organized, kind, professional, and totally awesome she made our wedding day fun and easy. She made the formal photos session run smoothly and quickly and faded into the background during the reception. I cant wait to see the photos that she has taken!!! She puts all edited photos on a custom DVD and sends it to you with the rights to the photos...so awesome, we are so excited to get it!! And, just a day later there were "teasers" posted on facebook that are absolutely AMAZING! They look like they could be featured on a billboard or in a magazine. And most importantly, she made us feel beautiful :) Thank you so much for everything! You have a true talent and we are so happy that you were apart of our wedding day.

I hired Justine based on photos I saw of hers on the internet. Somehow, I just had a feeling...when she and I had a couple of emails back and forth, my feeling was confirmed! Justine was very enthusiastic about our wedding, and that meant as much to me as the photos.

When we met with her before the wedding, she took notes, and she emailed us before the event to go over things. She was organized, professional, and FUN! During the wedding, you couldn't even see her, and yet, when you needed to ask her something, suddenly she was right by your side. She's a stealthy photographer, and that's how it should be.

When we got the photos--WOW! She has quite an eye, and loves color, but she'll make a black and white photo that is spot on. She captured our day perfectly. I would recommend her for any photography assignment. She's wonderful--5 stars!

Justine did a FAB job from beginning to end! She made me feel comfortable on a day that was a big day for our whole family! She was attentive, friendly, funny, and who loved having our dog Sophie in the wedding! She brought her brother to help with the day (sorry, drawing a blank) but he was super nice, as well. Just laid back and helped her with whatever she needed. The pictures were great and I would totally recommend Justine - you won't be disappointed! :o)

Justine was absolutely amazing! She showed up and for the rest of the day I barely knew she was there, but our photos came out so perfect. My husband and I are so glad we chose her for our photographer, and could not have asked for more. She is more than reasonably prices, does an amazing job and is so sweet! She genuinely cares about getting to know you, the people involved with your wedding and what you want out of her as a photographer. I can't recommend her enough to people looking for wedding/photography. She is extremely talented, artistic and I would hire here again in a heartbeat.

I literally couldn't say more about Justine Johnson Photography. The shot's I've gotten back are so beautiful and I'm already getting raves at the one on my desk. Her value- AMAHZING! I've seen people pay easily twice what we did for our photography and Justine has them topped. As for the day-of, Justine was super professional and above all- STEALHY. Seriously, she is like a photographer ninja and I barely knew she was there. Justine and her assistant were absolutely wonderful. She communicated with us in detail during our planning sessions so we could understand exactly what we wanted. We had some unusual details about our wedding that she accepted and worked with better than I could have hoped.

The photographs are completely lovely! I am thrilled. Her pricing is very good and well worth the money.

Justine also held our hands through some of the planning process, since we didn't know what posed pictures we might want or where we should be for good pictures.

Working with them was a fantastic experience and I recommend them to anyone!!

Wow, it has almost been a year already since Luke and I got married! It is hard to believe. Luke and I contacted Justine about 2.5 years ago about photographing our wedding. From the beginning she was personable and professional. Her previous work was amazing and we loved her unobtrusive approach to photography. We were fortunate that Justine was willing to work with us even when we changed our wedding date due to other conflicts. She also went the extra mile and stayed an extra hour when we forgot to do the bouquet and garter toss on our wedding night!
When we received our wedding photos I couldn't believe all of the moments she captured on film. I barely even knew Justine and her assistant were there (although the booze may have played a factor as well!), yet she seemed to capture every moment without missing a beat! It has been about a year since we married and we have yet to order our photo book with good reason. With almost 1,000 photos taken on our wedding night and it is almost impossible to condense them into a select few to sum up the best day of our lives. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words and we are very lucky to have a million of them to tell the story of our wedding day, all thanks to Justine. We can't thank you enough!

I could not have asked for a more professional, friendly, and affordable photographer! Justine and her crew were such a pleasure to do business with. I planned my wedding in Maine from 3,000 miles away in California. It was super important to me that my vendors be able to communicate by email, due to the time difference. Justine made herself available to answer any questions that I had throughout the months leading up to the wedding. On my wedding day, she showed up on time and made all of my guests feel at ease with her laid back style. I had SEVERAL people come up to me after the big day and remark about how wonderful our photographer was - she took many candid shots but was not overly-intrusive on people's space. My wedding photos came out BEAUTIFUL! I am so happy and pleased with the final photos. Justine is a truly talented photographer. The most important vendor when it comes to your wedding is the photographer, in my opinion. The day goes by so fast and the photos are what you have to remember the day by. I will cherish every single photo that Justine took - she took wonderful portrait shots of the bridal party and families; awesome shots of wedding details and as mentioned before, she also took a lot of candid shots that came out brilliantly. On top of all this? She is completely affordable! She worked within my budget and was very flexible. I would highly recommend Justine as a photographer for any of your photography needs - she is the definition of superb!

Justine's photography was by far the highlight of my husband and I's wedding! Her cheery attitude and beautiful smile made it easy for our guests to smile right back at her! we have some great candids, wedding party, and vendor/venue pictures to last a life time. We can honestly say there was not one picture we disliked in our album! We love her work, her imagination, and her sense of humor more than anyone we met during our wedding process. Justine is a fabulous person to work with and her photography is top notch. Throughout our time with her on the wedding day we felt very at ease with her and her assistant. My husband and I even commented that our photo shoot with her was the only time during the day we felt alone, which is saying a lot! Because of this we were able to have fun, relaxed and creative photos. The quality of the photos was great, and we could not be happier. Working with her to get a package we could afford and discussing our photo wants/needs was also a breeze and I felt like she was someone I could have easily been friends with if I lived closer! We highly recommend Justine for your photography needs and should we be in my home territory and need photos again we will be calling her.

My wife and I can't say enough nice things about Justine Johnson -- the person, the professional and the product. On the day, she was so personable and cool, but not intrusive at all. I've been told that one of the best compliments you can give a wedding photographer is to see that they captured everything but feel like they were never there and I guess that was sort of the case. It's definitely a stressful day, so to have someone so cool and calm to talk to really helped.

She was such a kind and wonderful person who was definitely open to our ideas throughout the whole process -- never condescending and never thrusting her own ideas at us. She definitely respected what we wanted and photographed accordingly.

And in the end, her photos came out AMAZING. They are so beautiful, so cool and everyone compliments them. Again, I can't say enough great things about her and her work -- she was so cool and has a great eye. If you hire Justine, which you should, you will have the most kick ass wedding photos. Ever. Period.

When we were looking for a wedding photographer we wanted it all! We wanted someone who took stunning pictures, listened to our requests, fell into the background, and was affordable. Fortunately, our friends, who were getting married before us, had already done all the work and found Justine! Dan and I first met Justine on a very cold January morning in Portland and both of us were very nervous about the idea of being photographed. However, Justine was easy to talk to and before we knew it we were acting as we normally would and our pictures showed it. In June, we did the second half of our engagement shoot down in RI. Justine traveled down and after a quick change of plans due to rain she stunned us again with her work. By the time our wedding rolled around we had no worries! She knew us well enough to capture the moments that were important to us. She was professional and didn’t interrupt a single moment, but rather captured the essence of it all. Justine was AMAZING. We can't begin to say enough wonderful things about Justine. From the very beginning she was incredibly professional answering all of my questions (and trust me...I had a ton!) promptly. Justine doesn't have standard packages like most photographers. Instead, we were able to customize a package that was 100% perfect for us and what we were looking for. On our wedding day, Justine was completely unobtrusive, but yet when we got our pictures, you would of sworn she was standing in the center of every event to get the best pictures! I discovered Justine Johnson Photography through a humorous CraigsList ad, so I checked into her for pricing because I thought a photographer with a good sense of humor was a step in the right direction. She got back to me pretty quickly, which anyone who is planning a wedding knows is very important. She gave me pricing and was willing to work with me and my budget (not forcing me to commit to a certain number of hours or anything). She was also very accommodating when it came to meeting with her since I'm from Maine but currently reside in Kansas. I only got to meet with her once before the wedding but she made a great impression! I had plenty of questions for her and she also had questions for me and made me feel very confident in my choice of photographer.

On the day of my wedding, naturally I was stressed out and a little distracted, so when she and her assistant showed up, they greeted everyone, and then she seemed to fade into the background as she quietly walked around taking pictures of everything. (It was a relatively small hotel room too) The ceremony and reception went by so fast, and I caught her out of the corner of my eye a few times as she walked around snapping photos. Before she left for the night she came to tell me when she was leaving and that she would be in touch.

As soon as the wedding was over and life started to get back to normal, I was anxious to see my wedding photos but didn't want to pressure Justine either. She made sure to notify me when there was a delay but had our photos up on the web by October 24th! I was so excited!!! They turned out so beautifully, I couldn't be happier. There was a wonderful array of staged photos (mostly the wedding party) and lots of candid photos. It was just so great to see another perspective of my wedding day. We also received a DVD of the photos in a beautiful custom case along with a release form to print the photos and a coupon for a discount off another session with her. I don't know what I'll use it for but I definitely plan to, I loved working with Justine and her photos are absolutely beautiful! I would recommend her to anyone interested in wedding photography, and from what I've seen of her work online, she does a great job at engagement shoots, boudoir shoots, and anything else you could want.

Justine was a great photographer for our wedding. My husband and I aren't the type that wanted a photographer in our face, we wanted someone laid back and would capture the amazing moments, which she defiantly did. She was sweet and very professional. If I had any question during the planning time I would email her and she would email back that same day or a day later with the answer which was awesome. On the wedding day she was there at the designated time and started right in on photographing. She was able to capture so many amazing moments that it has been so hard to pick pictures for our wedding albums. Justine was great to work with. She was more than professional as well as extremely organized. On our wedding day, there was no standing around trying to figure out who goes where in which picture, she already had a plan. I hardly saw her the entire day and she wasn’t pushy the way you hear some wedding photographers can be. But best of all, I loved her work! The photos she took are truly amazing and beautiful. Justine photographed our August 2011 wedding for us, and I could not have chosen a perfect person. She was exactly what we were looking for, and when we got our wedding pictures back I was blown away by how perfectly she captured every moment of the night. A wedding day is so hectic and crazy that sometimes you miss little parts of it, and I love that I got to look at the photos and relive it all again, they were so beautiful that I cried. I found justine on craigslist about 2 years ago when i was looking for a photographer. I was looking for very specific photos. No cheeze, not your typical wedding photos, more editorial themed. She got back to me very quickly and was willing to do whatever i wanted. She seemed excited even. Then she gave me an amaaaazing price.. I thaught "this girl is too good to be true". Living in boston i hadnt met her untill my wedding day but i must say i stalked her blog and facebook and just loved her personality and all her photos. She seemed like someone id hang out with. Then on the day of my wedding i showed up a half hr late for photos and she had already taken care of all the shots of the groomsmen and groom and was super efficiant and patient. I had an unbelievable experiwnce with her and my husband cannot stop raving about her. Ihave a ton of friends getting married and everytime i tell them to contact her.. Justine was so wonderful to be around! She is really kind and professional and very fun! She photographed my husband and I, for our elopement! We flew from California to Boston and we did not meet Justine until a few hours before our wedding. When we met for the first time, it had felt as though we had met before; I felt very comfortable around her and I think she felt the same. She even had time to do some boudoir shots for me! She is very quick to respond to emails, but judging by her Facebook page, she seems incredibly busy so it is really great that she is so quick to respond. I hired Justine to photograph my intimate wedding, held in my home in Boston. I work as an event designer and florist, so the design details of the day were very important to me. I found Justine on the internet. Paul and I are from Vermont, but we were getting married in Maine on Ferry Beach, Saco. I didn't want to hire the traditional old boring wedding photographer - you know, the kind that makes the bridal party jump up in the air. I wanted a photographer that had an eye for art and one that captured the moment as it was happening. I wanted a photographer that blended into the ceremony like one of the wedding party. Sure there were the usual posed shots, but Justine captured the very essence of the moment. When I look at our gallery, I actually can re-feel the moment. Justine did a phenomal job at our wedding this past Saturday August 27, 2011. She was so easy going and very easy to talk to leading up to the day and even on the day of our wedding. Justine is the best! We were excited to book her when we found her website, and she didn't disappoint. She took beautiful engagement photos for us last summer, and amazing photos are our wedding this summer. Justine is very responsive, she's always warm and pleasant, and very accommodating. We did our research and found her prices to be incredibly reasonable and her photos to be some of the very best around. She did seven hours of photography at our wedding for a very affordable price. She was very professional and didn't miss a shot, but also faded into the background during our wedding so the photography didn't feel obtrusive. She gave us hundreds and hundreds of amazing photos that perfectly captured our wedding. We can't say enough good things about Justine!

We had the pleasure of working with Justine. From the day we sat down to talk about our big day, we knew that she would be fantastic to work with!! We felt like she was on the same page as us and knew exactly what we wanted, as we told her our ideas she was so enthusiastic and offered some awesome ideas that we both loved. Justine was the first vendor we decided on for our wedding and one of the best choices we made! She was extremely professional from the very beginning and put together a great quote for us right away. It was exactly what we were looking for and included a few hours at our rehearsal dinner and a photobooth set-up (which we previously thought would not be in our budget). Justine was also helpful during all aspects of planning and even recommended someone to do my makeup when my other plans fell through. She is really fun to work with, captured so many of my favorite moments from the day, and made the formal pictures very easy and quick. I would highly recommend Justine to anyone looking for a photographer for a wedding or any other event!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Justine. She was a professional, she was extremely accommodating, and she made me feel at ease throughout the planning process and during the day of my wedding. My husband and I dreaded the thought of wasting our wedding day taking formal photos, so as we requested, Justine kept them very short. (And she'd say, "Perfect!" after every shot! :) We wanted a casual and journalistic style of photography, and Justine delivered. She was extremely affordable, and very flexible to our changing needs. She has incredible artistic talent, and she succeeded in capturing the atmosphere and feeling of my wedding day -- and that is truly priceless! I would highly recommend Justine to any bride!

We selected Justine from a bevy of other photographers in the Southern Maine area based on the photographs posted on her website. We were coming from New Jersey and never met her until the day of the wedding. Throughout the process she was incredibly responsive and took the time to work with us on a customized package for our very small ceremony. She arrived early for the ceremony and did an excellent job of capturing the moment without being in the way. The quality of her work and her timelines in returning the photos to us was better than expected. Overall we would use Justine again if we were ever in the Southern Maine area.

As a side note, I am not one to believe that anyone should deserve all "5" ratings, but in the case the ratings in each category were justified as she truly did deliver excellent service.

Justine is amazing!!!! Not only are her photographs stunning, she is a joy to work with. I was so worried about having a photographer who would distract from my ceremony, but Justine was discrete and very professional. When you hire Justine, you get to decide exactly how much photography you need; you don't have to buy an exorbitant package deal with features you don't want. Her photographs themselves are breathtaking. She has a very good sense for composition and color balance.

My husband and I did our engagement photos with Justine as well, and she is a lot of fun to work with one-on-one. We went out to a gorgeous park in southern Maine and just ran around having fun. The pictures came out beautifully and she captured some very fun moments.

I wish I could give Justine higher than fives!!!! She did my engagement photos and my elopement and we have been impressed by the results! She worked with us and made great suggestions for the engagement photo locations. She happily provided inspiration photos to get my brain churning for picture ideas. She was flexible as my wedding plans changed NUMEROUS times. She even went so far as to recommend a wedding make up artist, who was FAB! I cannot recommend Justine enough. She really became like family to us both and we look forward to the next milestone in our lives that requires a photographer because then I can spend time with her again!!!! You will not regret hiring this lady!

We searched high and low for a wedding photographer with a style that complimented ours (and fit in our budget)! Her photos were so colorful and bright- they simply exuded joy. Once we spoke to Justine the deal was sealed. She was so sweet and seemed to completely "get" us. Also, we found out that our wedding venue was on her list of dream venues; she offered us a killer discount (on top of already stellar prices)! When we met up with her for our free engagement shoot we were immediately put at ease by her warm and genuine personality. We were so nervous about the PDA involved in the shoot, and by the end we were having so much fun! We received "teasers" very quickly! Justine was very good about communicating when the photos would be ready. The photos were absolutely gorgeous; they were so vibrant and fun! We couldn't stop looking at them. We were able to download the digital files (NO ONE else we talked to did that). We knew we would be in good hands on our wedding day. A number of emails were exchanged prior to the wedding day to make sure we were all on the same page re: special photos, formal shots, etc. Justine was always very quick to respond and was extremely thorough. On our wedding day Justine and her staff were very professional, friendly, and efficient. My husband and I had underestimated the time we would need for the day, and Justine was more than willing to accommodate extra time (at a very reasonable rate). Our whole experience had been wonderful, and we hadn't even seen the final product yet! Like our engagement photos, we received teasers SO quickly! We even received our final photos in enough time to share them with our families over the holidays, which was wonderful. The photos were absolutely perfect and we could not be happier with them. There is nothing more moving than seeing your wedding day through the lens of someone so gifted. We were so lucky to have found Justine. If you are reading this review, hire this woman! You won't regret it!

Justine photographed our wedding on 7/30/11, and we couldn't have been more pleased with her results. Getting right to the end-product, the photos were amazing. Her use of color, her ability to get beautiful natural shots, and her eye for finding art in stills is incredible. And most importantly, her delivery of the photos was very prompt; the importance of which can't be overstated. We've heard horror stories about not getting photos for extended periods of time.
She was very professional to work with from the beginning, answering all of our questions, and never did i have to worry about the photography. She was mostly invisible during the reception, but yet the pictures showed that she was right in the action! I bet that her photos and service would easily exceed a photographer that cost 3 times the amount. We are just itching for the opportunity to recommend her to anyone who is in need of a photographer! We hope to use her again in the future.

Justine was a great photographer! I found her online and she was quick to email me back. I didn't want a photographer that was just going to pose all of the shots. After all the work of planning, I just wanted everyone to have a good time. It goes by so fast that you don't get to see everyone enjoying themselves. With Justine's photos I can relieve those moments over and over again. She and her assistant were very efficient with the family portraits and willing to drive around the golf course to get different shots of us. I just love seeing everyone enjoying themselves, including us, from the ceremony to the reception.

Justine was AMAZING. I would (and have!) highly recommend her to anyone who is lucky enough to book her. Justine was the first vendor I hired. She was actually the first photographer I even looked at - but even after looking at dozens of other photographer's websites, her photos stuck with me. She was incredibly gracious and flexible trying to find a package that worked into our budget, and was so incredible sweet. We unfortunately weren't able to coordinate a meeting beforehand (I live in NYC), but she was responsive and quick to answer all my questions and was sure to check in as the date approached! She (and her assistant and second shooter) were just so COOL and easy to work with. So many of the guests commented on how they seemed to just pop out of nowhere at exactly the right times! They made sure the formal photos were organized and speedy, and got every single shot we could have hoped for. Her style was exactly what I wanted - she caught all the little moments, the important moments, and really captured the fun of the entire night. And the amount of photos she gave us was insane! So many, and they were all perfect. I could not be happier and am so glad I went with my gut and booked her. :) Will definitely recommend in the future. Yay!!

Justine was a dream! She has been nothing but accommodating to our needs. She posted some teaser photos to facebook already and just those 15 pics have gotten some pretty amazing comments from our friends. Now I have to wait the 4 weeks of editing to get the rest. I can't wait to see what she got! Also she was amazing at our wedding. I didn't even notice her being there, but when I did it was more like she was a guest than a vendor. Love her so much! would hire her again in a heart beat. We have our Trash the dress shoot in a couple of weeks, it will be nice to see her again. Thanks for being awesome Justine!

Justine was great at our wedding. We really didn't know what to expect from a photographer, and we were on a tight budget. Not only was she really affordable, but her pictures came out beautifully! She goes into stealth mode when she's shooting, which is great because I prefer photos to be natural and not full of self-conscious mumbo-jumbo.

She was really nice, and was right in time, considering that she traveled quite a ways to get to us.

My husband and I were on a tighe budget when it was time to plan our wedding, we searched and searched and could not find a photographer for the amount of time we needed for under $3k, which included all kinds of pictures and packages... that's when we found Justine! She was a savior! She was very very affordable, and the best part of all was that we got a written release to the copyright of ALL our pictures, which was put on a CD... have you any idea how much cheaper it is to print out picture at CVS or Walmart, when your ready for them, rather then ordering directly thru a photographer? I saved bundles of money, and have been able to save on my pictures to my desktop, anbd put on facebook to share with all my friends and family! Thanks again Justine!!!

I can't say enough good things about Justine - I am so glad we chose to have her shoot our wedding in Maine.

Justine and her assistant were super professional and helped to keep the flow of the day going. When it turned out that our chosen location for our first look shoot was part of an impromptu water cannon shooting demonstration (yikes) she quickly relocated and helped us find a great spot on the water. She caught images that perfectly captured the day, and we got some great family shots because aunts and uncles found her very approachable and called her over to take photos of siblings, families, etc.

I think a true testament to professionalism is how someone reacts to and handles mistakes or criticism. I was unhappy that the lighting of some family portraits blotted out some family members' faces (the only reason the quality of service mark is not perfect), BUT Justine bent over backwards to edit and correct the images to have better quality.

Overall, I love my album as a cherished keepsake, and got some amazing art quality images

Justine Johnson is very good at two things: taking awesome pictures, and getting back to your emails with lightening speed. She did an engagement shoot and our wedding, and our pictures came out FANTASTIC. She really knows how to use editing software well and to make your pictures look visually stunning. She has a great eye and an obvious passion for what she does. The things that I wasn't as impressed with was the lack of clear direction. I'm not a person who is naturally comfortable in front of the camera, so I would have preferred it if Justine and/or her assistant Kim had a more "in-charge" personality for family shots (like: "Uncle Jim, you stand here. Put your hand like this. Grandma, you stand here.," etc.) , rather than "what are we doing next?" That said, I'm sure it's not easy to wrangle 20 family members, none of whom you know! All in all, I would recommend Justine if you want someone who is funny, easygoing but professional, and can communicate online very well.

Justine, while taking phenomenal photos, was unresponsive and too laid back for this Type-A bride. She was dismissive when I requested information for formal photos. Then, when provided with our list, required far more information three days before our wedding. She was not eager to get back to us and it felt like our wedding (pretty traditional) was not really her style. We were highly satisfied with our photos, but would not recommend Justine Johnson Photography for the Type-A bride or someone who would want responsiveness.

When we came across Justine Johnson Photography online and saw some of her work and read her reviews and then we found that she was going to be affordable for our wedding, we thought we had hit the jackpot!We couldn't have been more wrong.

Early on in the wedding planning process we moved half way across the United States and did a lot of our planning long distance. When we first recieved our contract from Justine Johnson Photography there was a claus that caused us some alarm. It stated that, basically, the photographer would only pass along the photographs that they felt appropriately showed their artistic views. Knowing that what one person finds artistic and what another finds artistic may not necessarily be the same thing, we expressed this concern to Justine, we wanted all of our photographs regardless. She assured us that at a typical wedding she may take thousands of pictures and that the only pictures that she doesn't pass along are the ones that come out blurry, or someone walked in front of or there were just multiple duplicates of. Finding that to be a reasonable enough answer we moved on. When we finally recieved our photos there were just 288 images and several pictures that I specifically remember having had taken were nowhere to be found. When I had my senior pictures done my photographer provided me with 500 proofs, almost twice as much as Justine did for my wedding. Is it really so unreasonable to assume that I should expect more out of my wedding photographer than my senior photographer? I don't think so, especially considering that there is so much more going on during a wedding and that Justine had an assistant. Am I really supposed to believe that between Justine and her assistant they found less than 75 worthwhile images per hour that they were there?

Because we had booked Justine for only four hours, we were not required to feed her. Of course, in good manners, we were not about to let anyone go hungry at our wedding, and were more than happy to feed both her and her assistant. Once they had their plates, they took them outside to eat. Maybe I was unclear as to how I felt about giving paid breaks at $150/extra hour but I will be clear now, I am not a fan. Figuring that the courteous and professional thing to do in that situation would be for the vendor to offer to compensate for the time taken, and not wanting to stress on my wedding day, I didn't address the situation. Maybe in retrospect that wasn't the right thing to do, but I really thought that the situation would have been made right. Instead, Justine and her assistant were both fully packed up and ready to go five minutes before our scheduled time. To top that off, my uncle, who was also taking pictures for us throughout the event, photographed an extensive conversation that I had with my grandfather. In the background of every frame during that conversation, which lasted a good twenty plus minutes, not paying attention to their surroundings, leaning against a wall was Justine's assistant.

When Justine came to say goodbye she mentioned that she had nothing to do the next day and would try to get some sneak peeks of our wedding up on her Facebook. I certainly didn't expect such an offer so quickly but was happpy to accept. For the next week our families and friends, along with us, were glued to our computers, phones and ipods excited to catch the first glimpses of our professional wedding pictures that never came. Just over two weeks after our wedding I wrote to Justine explaining that even though I knew that, according to our contract, our wedding disc would be in the mail by the end of the week we would still appreciate it if we could get the aforementioned promised sneak peeks on Facebook because we were just so excited. When Justine wrote back she told us that she had had a family emergency PRIOR to our wedding which put her out of work for two weeks and set her back. She said that she was going to be editing her photoshoots in the order that they were shot and that there were still several in front of ours. I can understand family emergencies. I found it honorable, even, that she would be editing her work in the correct order. My husband and I were irate when she started posting sneak peeks for from other weddings and shoots that she did weeks after our wedding. The photos that she posted were fully edited and ready to go. At one point, to promote a local model who she did a boudoir shoot with two weeks after our wedding, she posted a link to the model's page. After clicking on it, I found a photograph that the model had posted of herself, excitedly holding up her disc she recieved from her boudoir shoot, fully edited from Justine, before our wedding photos had even been touched. I waited more than three weeks before contacting Justine again, two weeks after we were supposed to have our disc in hand already, she was working on the wedding before ours and would be starting our photographs that week. When I told her that we wouldn't have minded the delay so much, had we known before hand (before the wedding would have been nice, especially considering the emergency that set her back happened to PRIOR to our wedding, but before I wrote to her about our photos the week that they were supposed to be in the mail would have also sufficed) she told me that she didn't know that being out of work for two weeks was going to set her back. I don't care what you do for a living- whether you wait tables, sell cars or take and edit pictures for weddings- being out of work for any amount of time sets you back and there is no way that you can believe otherwise. Our online album was finally posted six weeks after our wedding. It was almost another month before we recieved notice that our disc was going out in the mail- two months after our wedding. We didn't recieve our disc from our Columbus Day wedding until Christmastime.

As you can imagine having waited so long to see our professional photographs we were ecstatic to look at them! That slowly but surely diminished as well as we started looking through our pictures. Many of the pictures have poor lighting or are over exposed, especially the black and white ones. Because some pictures just aren't meant to be black and white, and I thought that some pictures would have looked better in color I wrote to Justine and asked her if we could get the color copies of the black and white photos, a reasonable request, I thought, especially considering (yes, going back to that senior photo shoot of mine) my previous photographer provided all color copies of photographs which were also black and white. Her response was that all of the black and white photographs were taken in black and white and had no original color copies, except two. Why would a "professional photographer" do that, especially knowing that their client already has mentioned that what they think is artistic may not be the same view that they share? There were no pictures of my mother except the one that she posed for, several guests who were important to us never made the reel, and just the same people over and over. We did, however, get PLENTY of pictures of the chandelier that hung over the dance floor. I know photographers can't be everywhere at once, I'm not trying to sound unreasonable, but all of it piled up together makes one quite upset.

The best part of our wedding came at the end of our first dance when our wedding party, unbeknownst to us, rained two dollar bills off the second floor loft onto our dance floor. We were amazed! It was wonderful and, as my maid of honor handed out the bills to the bridal party and explained everything with Justine in the room so that she would be prepared to shoot the excitement, these were the photographs that we were most excited to see. We couldn't wait to see the money falling through the air while we stood there, laughing and kissing in the amusement of it all. Surely, this was an amazing moment to shoot. Our biggest disappointment came when we recieved our pictures and, excitedly searching through them, we found that there were no such photographs. The only photographs that were taken from that wonderful once in a lifetime moment that we will never get back were photos of the people throwing the money from the balcony. None of us. None of the money falling around us. None of us, thoroughly amused, laughing at the utter amazement of what our wedding party had planned for us and then, basking in the glow of it with a kiss from our new spouse. No. No pictures to show our children or share with our guests who couldn't make it. We will never get that moment back from our wedding, and we will never have the pictures to show for it and we couldn't have been more disappointed.

Maybe it was because I refused to stress during wedding planning and I wanted a low-stress event so I wasn't really very strict on anything because I wanted everyone, including myself and our vendors to be able to enjoy the day. Maybe it was because I didn't want to stand around organizing posed pictures for an hour and a half and I left the photographing up to the professional. Maybe it was because most of our correspondence was via e-mail, snail mail and tect messaging considering our Maine wedding was planned partially from Missouri, our new home, and partially while I was in Basic Training and AIT for the Army. Maybe it was just because we just weren't a good fit with Justine, or the fact that our wedding was her third of the weekend and maybe she was feeling a little tired or not really into it... and maybe, as her actions have led us to believe, maybe she just doesn't like us. Whatever the reason, I have seen a countless number of BEAUTIFUL photographs that Justine has taken at other weddings and she undoubtedly is very talented but we did not recieve the photos that her other couples do in quality. We certainly didn't recieve the quanity that we had been expecting and we did not recieve the service that we had hoped for either.

Before our wedding I highly recommended Justine to every friend that I had who was getting married and planning a wedding. I have not and will not recommend her since.

We are terribly disappointed with our experience with Justine and cannot imagine ever recommending her.

Justine was booked well in advance to shoot a family reunion and had been paid over $300 upfront to secure her availability.

On the day of the shoot she pulled out citing a family emergency.

Fortunately we were able to agree a second date a week later. It wasn't ideal but we imagined it would be better than nothing.

To our immense disappointment on the day of the rescheduled shoot and only a few hours before she was supposed to arrive - Justine canceled on us again.

We feel terribly let down by Justine and are very shocked at the way we have been treated.
