The most spectacular photographer to capture life's most important moments
Julia is incredible and if you're reading this you should hire her ASAP! Julia fit right in at our wedding - she was there to capture all our most important moments but wasn't intrusive or distracting. She made us feel so comfortable and her photographs convey that! We can't imagine working with anyone else - Julia captured the essence of our weekend and we can't stop looking through our photos. -

As a visually creative individual, it was an automatic priority to find a photographer that could document our wedding day with an eye for authenticity and a strong sense of visual artistry. I discovered Julia through my bridal boutique, Everthine Bride in Madison, CT and I'm so glad that I did. After checking out her work and picking up on her ability to document the complex and emotional nature of a wedding day with such ease and clarity, I knew I had to contact her to secure our date and plan an engagement shoot. Once we chatted over Zoom and got to know each other a little better, I knew it was a match made in heaven.
Also, as a New Haven, CT couple choosing to plan our day at Reading Farms Estate near Woodstock, VT, Julia was also the perfect photographer for our unique situation since she is well connected to both states. This allowed us to book an engagement shoot with her at Harkness Memorial State Park, closer to home, while also looking forward to our big day up in VT. And the engagement shoot was the perfect way to get to know Julia even more. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, guided us when we needed it and helped us have fun throughout the whole process. The experience showed us that we could just be ourselves and Julia would be able to pull out the beauty within our moments in front of the camera in a non-invasive and authentic nature. It made Krystian and I feel 1000% confident that we chose the perfect person to document our wedding day. Around this time, we also began the process of planning our timeline for the big day. Julia's help in planning was crucial and her guidance made understanding the flow of our day a breeze. After our call with her about timeline details, Krystian and I let out a big sigh of relief, feeling like things came into focus and we had a handle on it all.
Julia’s presence and professionalism made our wedding day one of the most unforgettable days in our lives and we can’t recommend her enough for couples who are seeking to work with a photographer that will capture all the beauty and complexity of their wedding day with a graceful eye. -

Julia is the secret ingredient to making your wedding day perfect. It’s crazy how everyone warned us that your wedding day will just go by in a flash, because they were all absolutely right! I am so grateful that Julia was able to capture it for us, not just the people and the venue and the cake, but how we all felt during our day. You can feel the love and the joy in the photos, as well as her brilliant eye for composition, lighting, and color. She was instrumental in helping to plan out the schedule for the day and worked brilliantly with our wedding planner and vendors to make the day go smoothly. She was perfectly organized when it came time to do the staged photos with family, making those go by in a breeze so that we wouldn’t have to miss any important parts of our wedding. She made us feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera when we needed to be, and MOST important for us, she wasn’t at all an intrusive presence during the rest of the wedding. I had told her that I didn’t want to be distracted by a camera in my face during the wedding except for the staged photos, and wow did she deliver on that! I basically forgot she was there for much of the reception and ceremony, and its amazing to see in the photos we got from her that not only was she there to capture every single moment, but her ability to capture us at our most candid and in love was because she was able to disappear into the crowd when needed and photograph the most natural and human moments of the wedding without us feeling like we are “posing” for a photo. Really just magical. We love you Julia!! -

Perfectly captured our intimate wedding at home!
As soon as we saw the email that our photo gallery from our micro wedding was ready we could not wait to get home and view them. Excited as kids on Christmas we rushed to see them and then pretty much fell silent in awe of how beautiful they turned out. Every photo is the perfect expression of our day and catalogues the events as naturally as they happened. She captured all the moments of our day that I didn't even realize were happening until I saw them depicted so beautifully, all the expressions of joy and love on people's faces, and all the funny moments with our pets! I knew I loved her style from her portfolio but the photos she took exceeded even what I could ever have hoped for and we will cherish them! Julia also made us feel super comfortable and, because we were having a slightly unconventional, small wedding, tailored her photography and her approach to fit our day. Everyone commented that Julia was such a great photographer and we felt at ease from the moment we met, like old friends. -

The best investment for our wedding
Jeffrey and I both felt that Julia capture the emotions absolutely perfectly. I hate to use the word "investment" but Julia truly was the best investment of the day. She and her assistant not only did their job above and beyond of capturing the emotions and feels of the day via her cameras, but she brought a sense of tranquility through the entire wedding. I was an anxious bride, having Julia by my side brought me this unexpected sense of tranquility all day, I could not appreciate that enough. -

Simply wonderful
Julia captured us perfectly. The images she produced of us are just so beautiful. They’re romantic, and capture the city and us as a couple. She is such a professional. On the day of, she was more on top of our timeline than anyone else. She exudes calmness and confidence, and just put us right at ease on our wedding day. -

Working with Julia was an absolute dream. She was probably the first person we booked for our wedding and I'm so glad we did. Julia is so thoughtful at every step - from an intro call to a pre wedding questionnaire - she really takes the time to get to know her couples and understand their vision. She has also photographed a lot of weddings, and seen it all, so she is a wealth of knowledge. Going into our wedding weekend, we already trusted Julia and loved her, but even our families commented on how kind, polite and professional she was. Julia added so much to our wedding weekend by being a bright, calming presence. And then the photos! When our preview gallery arrived, we could not stop talking about how she perfectly captured our vision and emotions. Because we felt so comfortable with her, it was easy to smile genuinely and share our love. We absolutely recommend Julia if you're looking for a photographer that feels like a friend. Julia Luckett is an AMAZING wedding photographer
We were so overwhelmed seeing Julia's beautiful photographs!! They captured the essence of the day perfectly and highlighted the magic we felt at our fantastic venue, the Mad River Barn. Working with Julia was wonderful. She made sure our day ran super smoothly with a detailed timeline and at the same time, she felt like (and were!) another cherished guest. I had my eye on Julia for a few years after following her instagram page. I'm an interior designer and live on Instagram but I also have always had an interest in wedding planning and knew I wanted a Vermont wedding so I had been following a few photographers for a few years already. When we started the wedding planning process I reached out to Julia right away. We scheduled a phone consultation and it was supposed to be an hour but we got along so well we went over that hour. I knew right away I needed to book her immediately. She followed me back on instagram and got to know my husband and I and learnt some of our silly quirks as a couple. Julia also followed my Pinterest board and could see my vision all along the planning process. I had a section on my pinterest board just to photography. I mostly saved photos that I loved and captured the vibe I was going for. She obviously looked at that section because the day of she nailed what style I liked without me having to say anything. When I did have some suggestions though she supported my idea's while using her expertise to capture photos we will cherish forever. We have only received a small preview of photos so far but just those had me emotional when I opened the link. They are stunning and I cant wait to get our whole package. While I could talk forever about how beautiful Julia's photos are the thing I want to rave about her is something that really set her apart for me. She is SOOO easy to get along with!!! My husbands biggest fear for the day was having his photo taken over and over but also being the center of attention. He's never had so many photos taken of him in his life but he said he didn't care because of how comfortable he was with everything. He wasn't as involved with planning as I was and the first time he really communicated with Julia was the day of our wedding but he said he felt like he knew her for years. These are your wedding photos you will show your children and generations to come. They are photos you will cherish for years and you want to make sure you feel the same way about them for years to come. Julia will 100% capture photos that will stay in your heart forever. I cant recommend Julia enough and will tell everyone planning a wedding to look into her. -

When I first saw our wedding photographs, my heart started wailing like Robert Plant. I gasped. I laughed. I teared up. It felt like I was at the wedding again, watching my love and I give the show of a lifetime. Julia really picked up on our cinematic and vibrant vibe, capturing snapshots that come right out of the page and make you want to DANCE and SING and ROCK THE FUCK OUT. I LOVED working with Julia. We came for Julia's flawless technique and creative eye, but we stayed and booked her for her undeniable kindness and excitement for her art and the couples she works with. What we're saying is...we want to be Julia's friend outside of the wedding world. She rocks -

The single best choice we made in planning our wedding
We don't know where to start. There are a ton of people who take amazing photos - and Julia is among them - but that's just necessary, not sufficient, in choosing an event photographer. Julia is not a person who simply takes pictures of your event, Julia is a person who makes you feel like your event is the only thing going on in the world. We were a ball of stress leading up the wedding and each time we talked to Julia, her professionalism, warmth, and total competence made us feel at ease. We never felt like a client, but rather a partner in the process. Then we got the photos and were blown away all over again. We would - and actually did - hire her again. -

Julia is wonderful all around!
From the start of the process to just getting our preview photos back, Julia has been a gem. As someone who feels awkward in photos, Julia truly captured amazing moments of joy. She also captured some gems of me (bride) being my awkward and true self. It helped that we had her take our engagement photos too so we were comfortable with her and her style by the time our wedding came up. Julia was always prompt and professional in all communication and expectations. When we set up meetings, she offered a couple options so we could meet at a mutually convenient time. She's a warm and welcoming human being and honored our preferences for wedding photos. I would recommend her to everyone! -

Simply Incredible
To say that Julia is thorough is an understatement. Planning an elopement in only a few months definitely came with its moments of anxiety, but involving Julia in the process made me feel so much more at ease and actually helped me to work out things I hadn’t accounted for. Everything was documented and planned for – from which door we were going to enter through, to how family members would be arranged for photos, to a timeline of our day. She led the charge on wrangling guests and even making sure we had special moments that we could enjoy privately. Our photos are also beyond stunning, and she has an incredible eye for both portraits and the more nuanced expressions between them. I would hire her again in a heartbeat and cannot recommend her enough. -

Where to start...my spouse and I got married twice, and we loved working with Julia so much, we worked with her both times! When we were selecting photographers, we had a lot of really fantastic people to choose from. As soon as we met Julia, something clicked. Julia approaches her work incredibly intentionally, tells your story as you'd want it told, and is a steady presence throughout the process. Not only are her images breathtaking, but she brings a wealth of experience and perspective to your whole wedding planning process - not just the photos. Once you meet her, you'll know.
We started working with Julia in early 2020, with a wedding planned for October 2020. We pushed our original 2020 wedding out a year due to the pandemic, but decided to secretly elope. We would not have wanted to do our elopement without Julia. She guided us, supported us, and was the ultimate confidant. Our elopement was truly just the two of us, an officiant, an event manager from the venue, and Julia. Our comfort with each other and her is a testament to the relationship-building Julia does with her clients. We felt taken care of and like we had clear direction throughout our day. The photos she took captured exactly how our day felt, and we revisit them frequently because they feel like actual memories. Additionally, we asked her to keep our secret for an entire year! She was incredibly respectful of this, and was just as excited as we were to reveal to our guests in 2021.
In 2021, we worked with Julia again, of course! Our wedding was small and intimate, with about 23 people. Julia is able to capture the energy of a small wedding and make it feel larger than life. When Julia showed up to start her work with us on the day of our wedding, I immediately felt calmer and more confident. Julia isn't just good energy - she is a thorough planner, has structured check-in points leading up to your day, and shows up ready to go. She also has a strong network of other vendors she can suggest for you based on your wedding goals. This was invaluable. As if we needed further affirmation, many of our guests during and after our wedding have complimented us on the photos Julia took, as well as their experience engaging with her during our wedding.
For my spouse and I, we knew photography was one of our main priorities, so working with the right person was paramount. We would recommend Julia for any couple looking to have their wedding photos tell a story, as well as actually enjoy the process. Julia reminded us many times that the process of getting married should be joyful, and we can't thank her enough for all the ways she supported us. We had an almost 2-year vendor relationship with Julia, and it couldn't have gone smoother. We love Julia! -

I’ve known Julia for many years and been a guest at weddings she has shot before, so I knew her general work style and what to expect on the day of the wedding. What I didn’t know though was how incredibly impressive she is behind the scenes starting months before the big day, from Zoom chats to see how we were feeling, to creating a preliminary timeline and list of group photos, she went above and beyond. Julia was one of my favorite wedding vendors on our big day. I loved hearing from all our friends and family how much they loved her as well! When you think about a photographer for your wedding day it is so much more than just someone to take pictures. You want someone who is present for all of the big and small experiences throughout the day but also respectful of the privacy in some moments but able to capture it all through her lens.
Julia was amazing and easy to work with and super thorough with every detail that we told her we wanted to capture. She was respectful of our private vow reading BUT also captured such a special moment beautifully
Julia was able to tell our love story perfectly and captured all of our small intimate moments so well. These photos will be cherished for life and we cannot thank Julia enough for having such warm and kind energy not just with us but with all our guests and other vendors as well. -

Our “camp wedding” was originally planned for 2020. Since it was going to be such a casual event I didn’t think we needed a photographer – I figured everyone has their cell phones, we’d get the pictures we needed.
Then… COVID happened. One night while perusing Instagram, I came across a photoshoot that Julia did with Eva (Blossoming Boughs, the amazing florist I was already working with). I don’t know how else to explain it, but I suddenly know that cell phone pictures my aunt took just weren’t going to cut it…. if we were going to wait a whole extra year for this event, we needed to have it formally documented, and it needed to be by Julia!
Having the extra year to plan, this wedding went from a “casual event” to a full-blown camp weekend! We rented a tent, linens, doubled the initial flower proposal, and I had my first call with Julia where I explained my vision. Adult summer camp – bonfires, games, matching shirts! After only a few minutes of chatting, it was clear she saw the vision too!
Finally, the 2021 weekend happened. Julia showed up that morning (this was one of my favorite parts of working with Julia – she didn’t just come an hour before the wedding.. she was there all day!), put on the camp T shirt we had made for all the guests, and immediately jumped right in photographing the “Olympics” events we had planned (potato sack races, paddleboard relay, etc.). The action shots are out of this world – you can truly see how much fun everyone is happening, and I am so happy that I’ll have these pictures forever!
My husband (first time typing that!!) and I were really nervous about doing “romantic” pictures because we are complete and total goofballs… but Julia made it so relaxed and fun! The pictures are outstanding and I didn’t feel like I was posing in front of a stranger (besides, by that point Julia was basically my new best friend.. as far from a stranger as you could get).
I could go on and on and on… but basically I want to slap some sense into my 2020 planning self. YES, you need a photographer, and YES, it needs to be Julia Luckett!!! I couldn’t be happier. -

You have to hire Julia!
There are not enough words to share how amazing Julia is! Not only did she capture the most beautiful pictures, but we also could feel that she genuinely loved being there to capture our day with our family and friends, which made the biggest difference.
We had a call about a month in advance of the wedding to walk through the timeline of the wedding day and the pictures we were requesting. She also shared some locations she had in mind for our first look pictures, which I’m so glad we went with her recommendation, as the location was absolutely beautiful! Julia was extremely organized, and her attention to detail is very impressive. She helped us piece together our timeline and everything I shared from the call, she executed on day of, which made it so helpful. It was great to not have to think about what picture formations, groups and details I wanted on the wedding day, as she had it all listed out. She even helped to corral the guests for the big group pictures, as she knew we wanted to be able to enjoy the cocktail hour & reception without being held up with the formal pictures for too long.
Once we were done with the formal bridal party and family pictures, she let the pictures happen naturally. I never felt that the pictures were forced or constantly posed, which I really appreciated as we wanted to have memories that captured us being in the moment. She was so engaged and enthusiastic throughout the day too, and our guests were complimenting how sweet she was! We now have such beautiful pictures and moments to reminisce on, all thanks to Julia! We highly recommend her! -

Julia Luckett Review
When thinking about our intimate wedding day, Julia is a huge part of why and how it felt so special. Julia stuck with us throughout our journey of planning a wedding during covid and was always so kind and understanding of our situation. Julia was always willing to help us, even when we had to change our wedding to a different state! Not only was she amazing to work with but her talent is just as amazing as her. We felt that she was uniquely able to organically capture the intimate and special moments on our wedding day. We now have so many of our beautiful pictures throughout our home and we are frequently reminded through her photos of how amazing our wedding day was. We can't recommend Julia enough! -

Outstanding!!
Julia was amazing!! She is laid back and is very efficient when it comes to family photos. She does a great job at capturing action photos. When we received the full set of pictures it truly felt like we were reliving the day. -
