  Fun and professional JP for your special day

  John has such a great personality and you can tell immediately that he enjoys what he does. He wrote a very special ceremony for us and delivered with care, professionalism and a little humor. Our guests commented on the content of the ceremony and he incorporated all that we asked for. Thank you John for residing over this special moment in our lives.

  My wife and I are so glad that we chose John. We got married at a very busy time with Christmas and New Year's but he was very flexible when meeting us and always helped to make it convenient for us. John was there every step of the way and made sure that we were always one step ahead. He is professional and friendly. Our guests had only nice things to say about him. If we were to go back and do it all again, we wouldn't choose anyone else.

  We were extremely pleased to have John officiate our wedding in October 2016. Throughout the planning process, John was very responsive to our questions and very flexible with timing. He created a great first draft for our ceremony based on our conversations with him, but was also very open to the feedback we provided. On our wedding day, our ceremony was lovely. John perfectly executed everything we had planned. After the wedding, the city made an error in our wedding certificate (NOT John’s fault), John was very responsive re-signing the form to get it resolved. Highly recommend John.

  John was amazing! We loved working with him as he is such a great, laid back guy with a fantastic sense of humor. He helped me surprise my husband with vows that I had secretly put together for him. He was very attentive and helpful the whole entire way through. The ceremony that he had written for us reflected who we are as a couple and everyone mentioned how personable and warm the ceremony was. He couldn't have been any easier to work with and was such a flexible and adaptable JP. He was the 1st and only JP that we interviewed and boy did we luck out.

  Justice Mayo is very helpful with not only creating the ceremony itself but advising the couple on their vows. He tailors the ceremony to fit the couple. He is open to suggestions even at what maybe considered the last minute. He is prepared for any contingency with the ceremony and is prepared if something keeps him from the ceremony itself.

  I am thrilled that we decided to utilize John’s services for our wedding. We found him via the Massachusetts justice of the peace website, noted he was based nearby in Brookline, and found his website - which was well organized and informative. He met with my husband and I in person to lay the groundwork for the ceremony we wanted months in advance (which was relatively brief and non-religious). John himself is a pleasure to work with - laid back, understanding, and highly responsive. Every email we sent was replied to within a very short period of time (sometimes just minutes!). He was flexible even in the days prior to the wedding when we wanted to add/remove components of the ceremony. He arrived early to both our rehearsal and wedding and did a fantastic job at each. I know I can speak for my husband when I say we wish all of our other vendors were as kind and responsive as John was. Thank you so much John - hope to run into you around town!

  John was great!
  Knowing him personally through family, and having officiated my sister's wedding, it was refreshing to see how different he was able to keep our two ceremonies.
  I will only recommend John to new brides :)

  My husband and I have both been married before and neither one of us wanted to have a traditional wedding, but we also didn't want to just go to city hall either. We decided to elope, but had no clue how to pull it off. John made the entire experience feel truly special. With his guidance, we had a private ceremony, in our home, with just us. It was truly meaningful and perfect. John is professional, kind, and easy going. He is extremely attentive and detail oriented. He returned every correspondence promptly, wrote beautiful vows for us, and never made us feel rushed at any point in the process. I am eternally grateful for John’s spirit. He's a good man who is a natural JP. I would recommend him to friends and family.

  John showed professionalism from the first email interaction with him until the very end of our ceremonies. He was early and very well dressed while being attentive to our needs when everything was running late, never showing any concern about needing to wait for us and reassuring us that everything was fine.

  We had a private ceremony with just two people, John treated it with the same importance and professionalism of a big wedding. He was on time and had a very calming effect on our day. John also guided us on how to obtain a marriage license and file with our town which was very helpful. I would recommend John to anyone, he was very dependable and performed a thoughtful ceremony.

  John was amazing to work with! We had moved a year prior to getting married but came back to the Boston area for the wedding. Our schedules permitted us only 1 week in Boston prior to our wedding date, so we had to meet with all of the vendors during that week. John was extremely flexible and professional from the beginning. He met us at a Startbucks because it was in a convenient location for us. He was prepared with material for us to look at, he came with a bunch of great suggestions and most importantly, he did not try to push any one thing on us. He made it clear that it was our day and we could do whatever we want, and he actually meant it. A few other vendors we spoke with said that, but they seemed to lose that sentiment as time went on. John didn't, and that's why we stuck with him.
  
  When we went back home, he was in constant contact with us via phone or email when we needed to ask him questions or run ideas by him. The day of the ceremony was great. He had met with us the night prior for the rehearsal and stayed until we felt comfortable with how things would play out the next day.

  John was referred to us by a friend for our wedding in September 2015. He responded to our original request and every following email literally within minutes. He drove out of his way to meet with us to discuss the days events and give us ideas about our vows. On the day of, he was well dressed, professional and very courteous.

When we got engaged the first thing that came to our mind was that we wanted John to perform the ceremony. Throughout the process, John was there asking what we were thinking for a ceremony and offering advice and tips for what we could do and what might work best. When we met to go over exactly what we wanted and didn't want in the ceremony, John made sure to document everything so that last minute changes could be made the day of the rehearsal.   John was wonderful to have as an officiant for our wedding! It was very important to us to have someone perform our wedding ceremony that we knew and were comfortable with.
  
  When we started planning the ceremony with John he made one thing clear--there is no standard wedding ceremony and ours should be unique to us, and that he would do anything to help to make it exactly how we want it. Going into this we weren't really sure what we wanted, and relied on John a lot for ideas. He had a lot of great suggestions on how we could make the ceremony our own by including our families with poems and readings, writing our own vows, honoring relatives or specific guests, and many more.
  
  After talking briefly about the few things we wanted John put a draft of our ceremony together. It included every detail--when the DJ starts the processional, what order our families and bridal parties would be entering, and small cues like when we should be repeating vows, saying 'I Do,' and facing our guests. After reading through the ceremony we could finally envision exactly how our wedding ceremony would be, and we couldn't be more pleased. Everything that he wrote was absolutely beautiful. We asked for an honoring towards our parents, siblings and grandparents and the dedication that John wrote left our families in tears.
  
  After a run through at our rehearsal we knew we had made a great choice and that everything would be perfect. There aren't enough words to express how much we appreciate having John perform our ceremony. He really goes out of his way to ensure the ceremony is perfect.

We didn't really have much of a skeleton when we sent our ideas to John, and he did a great job of helping us flesh things out.   John was fantastic! He was so helpful and flexible, working around our schedule, (and unreliable Boston weather!) to make sure we could have our ceremony in our special spot, outside in the woods, during twilight/night hours! We really loved the words John put together for us, they emphasised everything we love about each other and our journey together, as well as offering some very kind words of hope and encouragement for our future! Our favourite part of the ceremony were our vows, John really listened to our desire to make it personalised, simple, and special, and did not impose a generic service upon us! This meant that we could celebrate our love, friendship, and joy together against a backdrop of our most cherished and special memories. This made our ceremony incredibly private, romantic and special to us, which is exactly what we had hoped for!
  
  Apart from the above, John was incredibly pleasant and nice to talk to, and he had a very soothing and happy voice!

  We were very pleased with the services provided by John Mayo as the Justice of the Peace for our wedding. He seemed to be significantly cheaper than most other options that we saw, which we appreciated, but as a result we were a bit worried about the return we'd get for our money. Well John was great right from the beginning, as he was both professional and responsive during the planning process. He was able to tailor a script for our ceremony that worked perfectly for us and then executed it beautifully on our wedding day. While this isn't his full-time job, you wouldn't have been able to tell one bit; he worked very hard for us including meeting with us multiple times before the wedding, creating multiple drafts of the ceremony based on our feedback, and helping to conduct the rehearsal and walkthroughs. We didn't write custom vows, but he also would have helped us, individually, put those together if we had chosen to go that route and needed his assistance. We would definitely recommend John Mayo as a Justice of the Peace to others. Add in the fact that he comes at a great value, and employing his services is a no brainer.
